this professor is one of the best bio instructors you will have. she helps you as much as you need it and will try and lecture in class so much until the whole class understands the material. there is nothing so terrible about her tests but when it comes to lectures she may get carried away with too much material in one day. overall very good

Nice person and VERY willing to help, but her lectures still go by too fast (she lectures about a lot of things in 1 hr). Quizzes seemed harder than exams in lab cuz sometimes the labs were confusing. MUST take very good notes during lecture, and if u study it well u'll ace the exams. Not that easy to get an A but if u dedicate urself u'll definitely pass.

The best teacher ever. She's just awesome. Explains really, I mean really great. iI did not expect to pass this class with an A. I'm not a bio person. But OMG she rocks! Tests are the best. I didn't have a bio book but got an A in this class by only taking notes from lectures. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. SWEETEST WOMAN & AN EXCELLENT PROFESSOR.

Alright probably the hardest class i've taken at gcc so far. i studied hours for the tests i got a C in the class, but the teacher is very good so, its your choice shes good but its very very hard

This professor is extremely clear but she disapointed me by being so HARD on her students. She WILL check every single answer u write in your labs & she marks u down for every q you didn't understand or is incorrect. She's nice & smart but she thinks we're BIO majors. You should go to her, not she should come to you. Tests are straightforward, there is a review sheet to study off of.

Dr. Kretzmann is an amazing teacher. She knows the content inside and out, teaches exactly what it necessary to surpass, and will help any student in need. She is humble and fun, and her class is very easy if you take some notes. Her tests are based completely on review sheets and her lectures are always pleasant and interesting. Highly recommended

WOW. i love her teaching method. she made my fear of biology go away and i learned things i never understood from elementary school. she is amazing because she made it all about biology and not her. I learned a lot. It's very easy to get good grades if u study what she tells you to. shes very nice and smart, nice, polite, and concentrated.

She is a really good teacher, however she isn't a community college teacher so if you want to be treated like a honor class middle schooler she won't do it. She will grade you like an adult, she would teach you like an adult, and if you work hard you can surely get a A in the class. If you want to be respected for intellect take her

I took Dr Kretzmann for 102 lab in Spring 09. She is maybe the best professor I have ever had. She is caring, knowledgeable, clear, and accessible. Her practicals are straightforward. Those who give her low ratings are not mature enough to handle college level biology. She puts great effort into helping serious students. She is a wonderful prof.

Effectively presented the material. Graded and tested fairly. From what I hear she is probably the best BIO prof in GCC. Good class would take again.

Dr. Kretzmann is one of thee most knowledgeable and helpful prof you will ever have. however, this is what will ruin your grade if you're not a bio major or want the easy way out. Dr. K makes a C feel like a congressional medal of honor. IF you don't care for bio and just need the GE units, don't waste your time with her. You will fail miserably.

Dr. Kretzmann is about as good a bio prof as you're going to find at the CC level. She teaches w/ a contagious enthusiasm and passion for the subject that keeps her lectures engaging and interesting. She's extremely clear, always available & approachable, and is a VERY fair grader. If you're a serious bio major it isn't hard and you'll learn A LOT.

This class is made for non-bio majors. Although I hated science, especially biology, Dr. Kretzmann made it really fun. She gives study guides for each test. It is not a hard class, trust me. Take her if you want an easy A and ...dislike science :)

Shes AMAZING. She doesnt want you to memorize. Instead she wants you to understand the concepts & shes always there to help you if you dont. She gives study guides. Tests are a little hard cause its not all mult. choice. They have matching, true/false, & short answer but its not impossible. Study a day or two ahead and youll be fine.

Professor Kretzmann was very helpful and nice to her students. Whenever I went to her office hours, i always asked her questions from the lab or study guide. the study guide was given three weeks before an exam. her exams were difficult, but she graded fairly in the exams.

if you want to learn biology, take this class. she is a GREAT teacher and explains everything very well. She wants you to learn and will always help you if you ask her. she gives study guides before the tests which help a lot. do not expect to memorize the study guides and get an A in the class though...understand the material!

Professor Kretzmann is without a doubt one of the best teachers I've ever had in GCC. She turned a boring subject into something that is really interesting and really fun. I have alot of respect for her. Not only is she clear on everything she is also very passionate about what she teaches and cares about the environment.

Bottom line: Study the notes, pay attention in class, review with the study guide she gives you. This class it not hard, the teacher is amazingly thorough and can teach a vegetable the subject with how simple she manages to explain the material. Professor Kretzmann is the absolute best professor. Her class is incredibly interesting, her tests are straight from the study guides and include some essay, multiple choice, and matching. Most of all, her explanations are so clear anyone can do well in this class. Read the book and take notes during her lecture she answers test questions.

Professor kretzmann is AMAZING! Take this from someone with no prior interest in biology. ALL of the questions on the test come from her lectures and study guides. I did not even use the book. just do the study guides and you will ace the tests easily! tests have extra credit built in! best bio prof. just do the work. labs are easy.again,JUST STUDY

Not an easy A class. Her study guides are helpful, but the tests are tricky. She grades the homework as if it is an english class, and it does cause students to lose points because the english "is not to her standards". She's a great professor who truly cares a lot about her students, and is always willing to help students and look over their work.

She's a wonderful teacher and she shows a lot of passion for the subject. I really found her labs enjoyable. Make an effort to study and you should be ok. The test do require a lot of memorization so don't slack off as I did. I feel like you really need to make an effort to memorize the cell cycle. Hardest part for me that kept coming back.

Not an easy A. She gives study guides and literally everything from the study guide is on her tests. If you get a 9 or 10 on your prep-u quizzes you get an extra credit point on your test. She responds to her emails very quickly. Learn literally everything on the study guide and you will get an A. Her tests are everything from her lectures.

If you are like me and are looking for a class to fulfill you natural science credit, then Bio 122 with Kretzmann is the way to go. Her lectures are crystal clear, she is always willing to help, and she makes the class very interesting. Four exams total, minimal homework, but you NEED to go to class and have good notes. College level difficulty.

I absolutely love Professor Kretzmann. She is amazing. She breaks down the subject matter so clearly. At the end of the winter session, no one wanted to leave her class. She takes her time to make sure everyone understands, but she won't put up with people messing around. Take the class seriously and she'll take you seriously.

I took Dr. Kretzmann class during the winter semester. Class was straight to the point, but she took the time to explain everything. There were a couple of concepts I did'nt understanding, and she really helped me understand them with some extra instruction time. Great class if you have an opportunity to take her course take it.

One of the best Bio teachers on campus (along with Gago). Her passion for the subject illuminates through her lectures. Don't be afraid to ask ANY questions - she's very happy to answer them. She gives study guides before tests - do them! If you answer them all, you'll get an A on the test. All test questions regard lecture material. No surprises.

SHE'S THE BEST AT GCC! She literally makes bio SO easy for people who don't get it. Getting an "A" is the product of memorizing her review sheets. I took AP Biology in high school, so this class was mainly review. However, just take good notes and fill in the study guide with each class period, so it's done by the time the test dates come around.

WONDERFUL professor! she is very respectful and her practicals are very fair. The practicals are based on the slides and the review sessions are verrrryy helpful in knowing what will be on the exams. just make sure to save the pictures before the review because they remove it soon after. you never need to read the book.

Don't let the easiness score fool you, Dr. Kretzmann is so knowledgeable about anything biology related that it's insane! Just like any other science class its obviously not an easy A. Make sure to take the notes she writes on the board. Gives study guide which perfectly reflects on the test. Even if you get a end up with a B, its still worth it!

She's very kind and inspirational. Cares for her students a lot and is always available to help. That being said, her class is not an easy class. You must put in work to get an A. Studying just a few hours won't cut it for an A, that will only get you a solid B. Studying for exams is very time consuming. Lab quizzes every week.

Take her! I am horrible in biology and passed with an A. She gives you a study guide that you complete on your own and everything on the test is on the study guide. Take her and you will be fine. If you do the study guide and learn it, you will pass with an A. Her tests were out of 85 points but she only counted 80 of them.

She is one of the best professors ! She gives you everything you need to prepare for the test as well as a study guide. As long as you use the textbook and notes for the study guide + ask her questions you will do great. I would definitely take her again because she really loves what she does and Is caring!

Dr. Kretzmann is so passionate about Bio and it comes across in her lectures. If you are interested in Evolution and how species change over time then take this class. The class has weekly writing assignments which she grades pretty hard on. Midterm and Final which she gives comprehensive study guides for. Overall great class and professor.

basically she was awesome, I was very scared of Bio and she got me through. Lots of lecture, lots of notes, book not exactly necessary-but I used it. Lots to learn & remember, but no real surprises on tests or quizzes. Loved her. If you study & want to learn, you will in her class. Great teacher

This class is about understanding CONCEPTS and why things are the way they are. She gives study guides which if you answer and review every question you should get at least a B. I bought the book but I didn't read a single sentence and I got an A+ just from her study guides. Some people just get it but others just have to work a little bit harder.

Kretzmann is the best! HARD class, but if you work hard and put effort its doable (I got an A). Her study guides are the way to pass the class, seriously. She is so helpful, take advantage of it. If youre lazy and want an easy class that isnt worth it then dont take her cause she expects you to work hard and LEARN.

Bright and organized professor, but expects a bit too much. Before starting a new lesson, you take a challenging online reading quiz. These reading quizzes are way too high-stakes -- they take up over 20% of your grade, which is ridiculous considering it's based on material that you don't know yet. Otherwise, I enjoyed the course.

While her online quizzes are for sure tough, I really think that's the only challenge with her Bio 122 class. Her exam study guides are EXACTLY what's going to be on them, so if you study those, you can't mess up on her exams. Labs aren't too bad as well, she always enunciates what could be on the lab quizzes at the end. Super smart professor.

A lot of people love hating on her for giving long lectures in lab, since a lot of it won't show up on the practical. But this is the highest level of bio that you can take on campus, so assuming that everyone that takes this class is in that field, it is absurd that they are mad at her for giving info that she finds interesting. Take her!!

Professor Kretzmann is very knowledgeable and cares a lot about her students. She is acessible outside of class and wants every student to succeed. Of course Bio 102 is tough, ITS A MAJORS CLASS. When she would sign off labs, she would ask students so many times if they had any questions. Don't be scared of the lab practicals, STUDY HARD.

She said she would change this class, but I took her class in Fall 2019. As a professor, she is very helpful and you never feel like you're bugging her during office hours or when you have a question. Great at making lectures fun. Super caring even outside of your class. Her class might be tough if you're not really into biology. However, Prof. Kretzmann was really helpful in and off classes. There's a lot of reading, but many of the topics are really enjoyable.

If you are new to Biology, you will absolutely love it! Professor Kretzmann is the most intelligent person I have ever met! Her class is not a bunch of material you do not know what to do with, but applicable knowledge: it reveals so many connections in the world. I promise, after her class, you will know so much more about science and the world!

prof kretzmann is very smart! yes this is an introductory bio course but its still a little challenging. the material is similar to high school review with more detail. i didn't have much issue cause i took a lot of notes and filled out the study guides(which you use on the test). only hard parts were the reading quizzes, but there's extra credit.

Bio 123 is great for non-bio majors + it really makes you work hard for the grade. Kretzmann uses powerpoint slides and it answers all the questions on the study guides for her midterm/final. She's funny and great, but gets off-topic easily, so try to remind her to get back to lecture. Passed with a C on the final after failing the midterm.

Exceptionally generous/intelligent professor. I'm not a science-brain, but worked really hard and got the A. Yes, the quizzes are challenging, but the exams are 100% off the study guide, so if you keep up with that you'll do well. I really enjoyed Prof Kretzman, and would take her again! If you're looking to skate through for a C, keep looking!

I loved her!!! She was so kind and genuinely helpful. Bio is NOT easy but she breaks it down very well and will address something if it's unclear. Yes, there's a lot of material and it can be difficult if you don't have background in bio, but she is there to help. Do the study guides. Labs are very fun too!

Prof. Kretzmann was actually a really nice and caring person. Always available outside of class. Clearly very experienced and knowledgeable in her field. Not an easy class AT ALL (Expect to spend hours upon hours to barely pass her tests). A lot of memorization involved. But she makes these difficult tests fair by giving of a lot of partial credit.

I really enjoyed this class. She presents the material clearly, and everything on the tests is always on the study guide. However, you have to work for your grade, which is 100% achievable if you show up and study. If you don't care about the subject matter, I recommend you take a different class. My only complaint is the amount of group work.
