Online Course-I thought she was great, very no-nonsense and clear. She had specific expectations and a very structured format, which I think really helped me to succeed in the class.

Great Class, Shes very good at entertaining good class discusion and actually including the whole class.

Great teacher, I took this class on line and felt the instructor was more than fair we had a total of 4 meeting during the semester. Two lectures, two tests which were allowed a note card. This instructor was willing to work with students to make sure they understood the material. Great instructor!

She is so funny! I think a teacher with a good sense of humor will make or break the class. She is great and I enjoyed her class.

Maria is an awesome professor! She relates everything to real life and has the class laughing most of the time. Her tests are really easy, as long as you attend class and take notes. If you want to have fun while learning a lot, take her!

She is really relaxed and easy going. She is not tough at all. Her class was very easy for me, but I read the material.

She's so cute and nice. She'll cut you breaks all the time. But the study guides don't really reflect whats on her tests.

Maria Ortega...well, she was very easy...she gave us a cheat card for the test, so I got an A every time. Class attendance wasn't neccessary....and she gave extra credit. She's nice too! If you want an easy A, take her class....and if you go to class, you might learn a thing or too!

Maria is such a character. She's funny, brings her quirky devilish personality into it a lot, but also respectful to students and towards people she discusses. The class is fairly easy, so I had to make sure I really studied the material (I actually wanted to learn it!) since I probably could've gotten by w/o studying, but forgotten everything.

Very good for survey classes. I like her a lot, she wants students to succeed. I have both morals and integrity and found much to be lauded in her making subjects interesting that are not very fun for people who don't already have a deep, abiding interest in psych. or soc. I never found her to be "unbathed", I think that's pretty pejorative.

Fantastic professor. You don't have to be majoring in sociology to understand the subject because she does an amazing job at explaining everything. Best Washtenaw has.

She is a really fun professor. She provides lots of funny examples that illustrate the material she is covering. She is an out of the box professor, but in a good way. She is not stale; she makes the material fun, interesting, and easy to understand. I would Def take her class.

maria is THEE coolest psycho professor ever. she is absolutly hilarious, has tons of great stories and is willing to discuss problems with students on a one on one basis. i totally recommend her. even she says the class is an "easy A"...she's great.

She's a great teacher. She cares about her students and is a lot of fun. She give multiple choice tests with extra credit. The tests are based off a study sheet. The study sheet is hard, it's not all in her notes or in the book. But she lets you have a 3X5 card during the test. Her lectures are not stale. The book has small print- it's hard to read

If you ever take a class at WCC and dont have her for one of your classes, you are missing out on one of the highlights for your year. she makes class seem easy and you begin catching your self thinking of the diffrent theoreys of phycology at odd moments of the day. Maria is HILARIOUS! She's always saying weird stuff (mainly about sex and alcohol) but it's so funny. Lots of copying notes but the tests are easy if you read the material. She lets you drop your lowest text score. I didn't even mind getting up early for this class. But don't use your cell phone or talk during lectures! Definitely her pet peeves.

Extremely funny and friendly. I loved her classes! She tells the most interesting stories during the lectures, and her class was quite easy, especially with the 3x5 index card of notes she lets you have during the exam. Would take her again in a heartbeat.

Maria is probably one of the best professors I've had. I was only somewhat interested in Psych, but she really has a way with making the subject interesting. She's hilarious and really takes the time to make sure you know what's going on. I'd highly recommend her and I wish I could take her again. Excellent professor.

This was my favorite class and I enjoyed it everyday that I was in this class. She is a fantastic professor and can make any class ejoyable. Always making jokes but did whatever she could so that her students would pass the class. Failing was not an option for her.

Good teacher, nice lady. Willing to work with you if you have problems. Her tests are difficult because she likes to include a lot of trick questions (such as, "sociopaths profit from their experiences, true or false" to which I can only ask, well, which experiences??) so be as prepared as you can for that.

I love this teacher. Always in a good mood, lectures are interesting, and tries to keep you engaged. Exams come with study guide which are really straight forward. I've learned so much I can apply to my life in this class. Just show up and you'll pass.

great teacher, very energetic, and knowledgeable. She also seems very passionate about her subject. She gets side tracked easily, the students like to constantly give out their personal experiences to her, like she was their psychologist, and that really got annoying after a while, she tries not to respond, but she always does. Take good notes.

One of the best instructors I have had. Very nice,funny and makes class enjoyable. I was also laughing but learned a lot. You can use notecards front and back on the tests,and she drops your lowest score. Great Class! Recommend it 100%!

Hands down the BEST professor that WCC has. Her powerpoints are interesting and helpful. She gives a very thorough study guide for all her tests and quizzes. She will also allow you to use a notecard with notes for tests. She is hilarious as well. Class is easy if you attend and do the work. Definitely someone I would recommend.

Ortega is FANTASTIC!! Her lectures are precise, short, and to the point, she explains everything and is more than willing to help you outside of the classroom. Her quizzes and tests are exactly what she tells you they are, no surprises! As far as a basic psychology class goes, I was astounded!

Maria is an excellent professor and I enjoyed taking the class. The only thing I hated was the Exams and Exam Reviews. None of the exam review questions were on the actual exam itself.

She was very energetic and knowledgeable. She compares examples in the book to real life experiences that she has had! And her storiesexamples are hilarious, but sometimes she can be a little graphic, but it's still awesome. Willing and happy to help students who need help after class. Overall a really great teacher, I highly recommend her.

Pretty helpful. YOU DON'T NEED THE BOOK!!!! don't buy seriously. unless you're really interested in the course. I found the book online and read the required chapters but it was not on the test. But she has lectures and other videos you have to listen. Only problem I had was that for one assignment she isn't that clear with the criteria.

Because I took PSY 100 online, I have never met her in person. But, she was quick to respond to emails and quick to grade DBs and such. She also provided a ton of material and resources on BlackBoard. It would be nearly impossible to fail. 10/10.

I took this class online. Maria responded within a few days. She had you watch a lot of videos but all were worth it and relevant as well as the best videos you could watch for this class. I would take her again and recommend her for anyone that has to take psychology online. The tests are hard, but I got a B because I kept up on the work.

Assignments are easy even though the videos may run over 30 mins. Powerpoint notes are essential for test preparing and the study guides are clear on what you have to review. She allows you one note card and you can write on both sides so WRITE SMALL!! I failed one test because it was after thanksgiving break and everyone forgot about it lol

Absolutely amazing and has great energy. She helps with giving great examples and tests aren't hard. Definitely show up to class because the reading in the book is confusing, but when in class you understand it more and becomes more clear. You can write on one flashcard for the test and it is helpful, just study before the test too.

Ortega is amazing! Was very understanding and kind when I was going through a rough time. Very empathetic and respectful. If it wasn't for her quick encouraging email responses and overall kindness I would not have been able to complete the course. I was lucky to have such a caring instructor.

It was an online course, so there isn't much interaction but, I enjoyed the course with professor Ortega. There was a holiday over the semester and I didn't realize a quiz closed early, but she let me take it anyway.

In person I enjoyed her and things were ok. When she was forced to move online for the 2nd half of the semester it got worse. She assigns a ton of readings and videos that you kind of have to try and cobble together. It was a ok class but be ready to do a lot of the leg work for teaching by yourself if online.

Ortega was a remarkably easy teacher, the class was an absolute breeze. I would 100% recommend her PSY 100 class for dual enrolled students that need an undemanding class to start their college journey. I did not need the book (even though it was listed as required) but I would definitely suggest you watch all the lectures.

This class was very straight forward, a schedule was given at the beginning of the semester with what we needed to do each week. Typically it was a chapter to read out of the book, an assignment, and a quick 15 question quiz. Comments are given on the assignment if you got points off. Overall great class and I would definitely take again.

Everything is good but didn't say in the weekly announcement that you get 5 points off if you don't turn it in the day before everything else. You need to read a chapter, which isn't needed but is free, watch 2-5 videos ranging from 10-50 mins, and either write 2 short essays or a multiple part discussion question that has a minimum of 300 words.

This class was very straightforward. Every unit has the same layout, material to read or watch, and a small writing assignment. Would definitely take it again.
