easy tests, time consuming, really nice and helps with all problems
friendly
Very clear lectures. Always well prepared. Very helpful and willing to listen to student concerns.
I enjoyed this class and i learned a lot, and i also felt that she wanted me to do well in the class!
Extremely boring lectures. Be ready to fall asleep. I got an A in the class, but just barely. All essay final and it is NOT EASY. Look around before you pick this teacher.
pretty cool, dosen't take attendance, open minded, any interpretive dances????????????
Very strange person. Doesn't like it if you miss her class. After covering material she will say, Any questions, comments or interpretive dances? It was funny the first 500 times... after that, it gets old.
Long class and found the energy in the room to be very low. She made sure you understood the subject. I learned a lot, but it was painful. Only 4 test and one paper, but 1:50 min of lecture 2x a week for 17 wks is too long.
The class was boring I thought. But she genuinely cares about her students and is a very nice woman. Sometimes she seems to try too hard though with the jokes.
She is likes to talk about her kids a lot. It's not that bad if you need a comparison on the subject being covered. The final is all essay. No homework, three tests, a project, and the final. lots of notes and if you don't like Piaget, don't take the class. how about an interperative dance?
She is a good instructor and attempts to have fun with her lectures and students. Beware... she is very critical on essay questions and this class is not an "easy A". There is a considerable amount of work required; do the CSL program if you can and you will not have too take her final exam.
Great teacher! To get a good grade you really need to study! That means studing all those study guides that she will give you! Very laid back and likes interpretive dances! Seriously she fun. Take her class!
Fun teacher, Very Helpful, go to her if you have a problem and she will help. Not an easy "A" but she does give study guides and everything is very clear.
shes a chiller...three tests, 1 project, and a 5 essay final. if you study, you should be able to get a decent grade. she hands out study guides which are very helpful for the exams. dont be a sketch ass like me and not go or sleep during the lectures. her lectures are crucial...but trust, you shouldnt have to worry about your grade in her class
She's an outstanding professor. Her class is not an easy A like all the other's are saying, but if it were, this, let alone any other class, isn't worth taking! I highly recommend her!
Take her... She explains in a very good way... has energy and wont put you to sleep... Class layout is very good...
Good teacher but the classroom has a funky smell. Read assignments and you will do alright.
She is one of those psychology teachers who uses her family as an example....FOR EVERYTHING! but at least her kids are cute, and she gets the point across
Very good teacher, she gives nice examples. Tests are a little hard but can manage.
Mrs. Pak is the best teacher I've ever taken at Grossmont, and I've taken plenty courses. I recommend her to anyone who wants to learn, and have a fun time doing it.
great teacher and a very nice lady, knows her stuff. uses great examples to help you remember studies done that you'll need to know for the test. she lets you know your grade throughout the course. you get your study guides when you start the new sections and the final exam questions you get WEEKS before the final.
You need to READ the textbook because exams are based on it. Her lectures basically clarify the text. She's a great teacher and really knows her stuff. I love her funny examples. You have to do five 1-page essays for five different chapters. They're so easy because they're your own opinions. Takes no longer than 15 mins.
Dr. Pak is a great teacher. I find her little examples from her own life to be very helpful in learning the course material. on top of all that, she's funny & witty. If you use the study guide, you'll ace the exams. Nothing to it.
The best professor I've had so far. Cares about her students and has patience. Tests are based on the book and you can use the book examples to support your argument. She also allows you to challenge answers on the multiple-choice section of the test.
Well, She is a nice person and a good teacher. The grade you'll recieve consists of 5 tests, a final, and a project that drags along from the beginning. Some extra credit available but doesn't help too much. The tests are pretty ridiculous, a lot of tricky questions that can have more than 1 answer. You'll find yourself arguing your points back.
Amazing professor. It may seem hard to understand her in the beginning but that's just cuz her voice is quiet. VERY intelligent, I plan on taking her PSY150 class next semester. The tests are a little hard, but the extra credit that you can get afterward is a joke. DO IT!! It *will* help your grade. And for the group project, choose your members wi
pretty difficult class, i think 20 or so kids took the final out of the 60+ on the first day, very nice lady just hard material to soak in
Tests are a joke, in a bad way. A lot of question have several possible answers, you'll have to argue your points back after each test. Most of the class DROPPED her, in the end of the semester the class was 4/7 empty. There are also "interpretive dances" painful to your eyes, and the surrounding environment. Oh yeah, I got a B+, deserved an A-.
Awesome. I loved her sooo much. She wasnt too strict on attendance, but whatever you missed you had to make sure you studied on your own. If you dont study hard youll do bad, but if you study, easiest class! Just like any other class right? I am looking forward to taking psy 134 with pak, i enjoyed her class to the fullest.
She was really good and understanding, even put up with some semi-rude students. If it will bug you that she talks about her kids a LOT then don't take her class. Study the guide and show that you are hardworking and you will get a good grade.
A brilliant woman.
Very nice teacher. Talks about her kids alot and does these interpreive dances that are as another person said "painful and they do not help us remember anything", but its no big deal just STUDY!
I think she is a wonderful instructor and a very intelligent woman. She is understanding and flexible regarding legitimate scheduling conflicts. She presents the material in a memorable way, which makes the tests a little easier. i highly recommend her.
If ur not a good test taker then this class isn't 4 u. Ur grade is based on ur test they r 75pts. each. She gives ex credit but it's only worth 5pts. Her lectures don't help. It seems like she doesn't know what shes talkin about most of the time. SHE'S BORING... she needs to change her grading scale
Uh brilliant women, very hard teacher. I had her for 4 weeks and i had to drop just because she covers soo much and the test are very difficult. I'm a psychology major and I had a tough time.
Dr. Pak is awesome! My favorite teacher and class so far. She is very smart, extremely nice and understanding. It's a lot of information to learn but this is college. She gives study guides for the teasts...use them and give yourself plenty of time to study! I want to take her for Psych 150 and I don't even need that class.
I had Dr. Pak for developmental psychology. She gives a lot of information and the class isn't easy, but she is extremely willing to work with you if you have any problems. I highly recommend doing the CSL project, you get to work with kids and you don't have to take the final! She's a great professor
Whatever you do, Don't take her. She is not helpful at all and does not care about the students, unfortunately I didn't realize this until it was too late. The classes are extremely boring, and she just reads over her power points and talks about her family.
I deserved an A- and she gave me a B, thanks for nothing. She made a class and subject which I find interesting excrutiatingly boring, she goes on and on about absolutely nothing, her jokes aren't funny, at all. Most of are class dropped because your entire grade is based off of tests. She is UWILLING TO help(will refer you). DOESNOTCAREaboutSTUDEN
I had to drop it. I failed the first test. Your full grade is based on her tests. I am a B average student and figured this would be a breezy class, she makes it hard though.
Ok, Dr. Pak is a very smart and educated professor, and she knows the material. To me, the class was easy because I already took PSY 120, having a great base of knowledge. The only complain is that the class was very slow and boring at times, so I had to try my best not to fall asleep, even though I sat in the first row. Dr. Pak is a decent teacher
Word of advice, don't take the class. 1/2 of my class had to drop.
pak was boring and she joked around alot which was not funny and talked about her family alot, getting off the subject was very irrirtating. i was upset that at the last drop deadline i had to drop her class. she doesnt explain things very well either.
:) All one has to do is study off the lecture notes from the power points and you'll get an easy B for sure. She's a caring and friendly teacher who as I can tell, is TRYING her best to make the students enjoy and participate in the class. But, it's obvious it never works. Most of the time it's an awkward silence when she asks students questions.
I'm a straight A student who dissapointedly got a B in her class...She's really nice but not so great at teaching...not a lot of people can get A's on her tests which means not a lot of people can get an A in her class. Unless you have the TIME and EFFORT to memorize pages and pages of notes before each test, I suggest you choose another teacher...
Very helpful teacher! I had fun!
very nice teacher. but just a hard class to take.. very helpful, extra credit available, make up tests are easy to make up.. just have to study to pass in this class
So, this class was okay. You'll have to really study to pass, I got a B, and I tried. She tries to pack in information with little time. She'll also make you study some sections on the book that she didn't go over. Not an easy class, you'll need to study to pass.
She's super nice and tries to make everything fun. Her tests are killer so studying is mandatory but if you miss class you can just read the same section in the text book. This was defiantly my least stressful class.
I enjoyed her class. Lectures were mostly off powerpoint and very informative. Tests weren't too hard b/c she gives study guides so they ARE passable; all you have to do is study. She is very nice, approachable, and always willing to help students if you ask.
I appreciate Dr. Pak very much. She is knowledgeable and helpful to all students. Psychology is a big subject; I believe she uses her time well to cover the material. It's true - you MUST MAKE TIME TO STUDY - but hey, WELCOME TO COLLEGE. The only downfall to this class for me has been her snotty intern, Sandra.

Pak is extremely helpful, funny, knowledgeable, and has lots personal stories about her own kids. Lectures from powerpoints; easy notes + tests(3) with helpful study guides. Posts all material online. Very imfortative and approachable. Offers optional CSL to omit final + short project. Project was simple, allows rewrite. Studying is key to passing.
The class is fairly easy since she has study guides posted on Blackboard and if you study that, the exams are pretty easy. Some extra credit and lectures are somewhat important since she does graphs and charts that are on the exams. Prof Pak is a good teacher.
at first i didn't know if i would like her, but after the first week i ending up liking her way of teaching, it was very interesting and made me actually pay attention. shes funny and nice :)
She is sooo boring.
Professor Pak is a good teacher. She makes class interesting, and keeps it simple. If you miss a class, you don't get grilled, but she makes you want to show up. Thanks, Prof Pak, It was a good semester!
She was great. She was funny, smart and patient. The tests are challenging, so put in the time studying off the study guide, read the text and take good notes. If you miss a class, you miss valuable info.Find a friend in the class and keep up. This class requires that you apply yourself and you will do fine.
While upbeat and energetic she has a bad habit of spending too much time and one topic and maybe looking over the rest of a chapter. Combined with a lack of homework to better understand the subject matter and it makes getting an A on a test very difficult.
Very helpful and under standing. Great class. She helped me alot. I struggled on her Multi Choice Test. But short answers portion was easy! Make Sure you know the material in Different ways and senarios.
Very friendly and personal. Lectures are more like public discussions about the topics. But multiple choice on the tests are HARD if you didn't memorize the facts from the book. You realize that she class notes have little to do on the test. Read the book!
I didn't find her lectures to be very helpful as she skipped over parts and jumped back and forth in them a lot. I do feel like I learned a lot but was not as prepared for tests as she expected us to be.
If you are a psych major, this class should be a breeze for you. This lady is one of the nicest, most interesting teachers I've ever had. She knows her stuff and makes everything extremely easy to prepare for. The class does seem to last longer than it should, but none the less, good topics and easy tests.
Not a very good instructor. Lectures are useless, does cover enough content that is on her exams. Makes the subject even more boring. However, tutoring program is useful. Nice person overall but not the best teacher.
Her classes are a bit slow, but if you are a Psych major, you will appreciate her lectures and real life examples. Material for the exam is covered during the lecture, and she provides a study guide that is very helpful for each test. Nice person, very approachable and knowledgeable.
This class will be easy if you are really good at memorization, if not you will struggle a lot. The most important part of doing well in this class is to use the study guides. If you memorize the study guides you will get an A on every test. For the final I just memorized the entire study guide and got 99/100 on it. Pak is a good teacher.
Very whimsical teacher but she is very generous and helpful. READ THE BOOK and you are fine. You can actually miss class sometimes because she puts all notes on blackboard however, its good to show up before tests because she will add stuff.
Very interesting class. Teacher was very helpful. Read the chapters and live by the study guides for the Quizzes. If you choose the written final, you have all semester to prepare for it, as you have the questions from day one. Highly recommend this teacher.
Text is mandatory, attendance is not. Focus is on 3 exams, you don't have to do the final if you take the option of becoming a Tutor (DO IT!) So easy as long as you do the EC and get at least B's on the exams, easy grader. I got an A being a tutor and it was a walk in the park. Lectures are boring though!
I love professer pak. she is so sweet and helpful and will make time for every single student. the class sometimes gets repeative if you a psy major but its an easy A if you pay attention
Dr. Pak was a very good instructor as she explained the material for this course very well and gave easy homework. She gave study guides for the tests which help an INCREDIBLE amount. Do the easy assignments assigned in class, including a group presentation, and complete the study guides before the exams and you will receive an A in the class.
If you wanna do well in this class, DO THE STUDY GUIDES. It helps, especially if you're not good at memorization. Read examples from the book because a lot of her tests are example based. Very good teacher! I missed class for two weeks, but I still did the study guides and I got an A. Do the short essay questions, it's easy points! HIGHLY RECCOMEND
I LOVED HER! Her class was super easy!! plus she's so entertaining! she relates things to real examples and the test are easy peasy. Just do the study guides and pay attention and you'll pass with an A! it was an easy A for me. TAKE HER! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
Great professor easy to understand and easy to get an A in class. Her test are easy if you do the study guide there are 6 test and a finale mo mid term. Also 4 short paper and they are not hard at all.
she is the best teacher i have ever had, i cant wait to take all her other classes, i was already obsessed with the subject and now im obsessed with the teacher she is the nicest most amazing person as well as the most amazing teacher <3 love love love! if you ever get the pleasure to be in her class make sure you savour it .
Dr.Pak was very helpful, I learned much from her lectures, and her power points,te book made sense only in connection with her lectures. Iwih I could have proved to her ho much Iarned from her but I didn't do too well on the multiple choice exams. Still, I can share what I learned with others, and I recommend h class, it was very ieresting and fun.
Wonderful instructor. If you're looking for a professor who knows her stuff, then take this class. She is very clear in her lectures, and is a wonderful human being. Her personal stories are interesting and relate to what students learn in the book. Tests and a short project, all of which are fine if you pay attention and study.
Dr. Pak was very clear with the material, answered questions in class, was helpful with class material during her office hours, was patient to students actions and reactions in class, she made class a fun and comfortable environment, and there were no surprises in the exams, only covered material. I recommend to read the chapters before class.
Best teacher I had all year.
Great class only problem is that her grades are all based off 3 tests a short project and the final. Would rate higher if she offered more ways to earn points.
Just a great teacher with accurate tests on the information that she presents. All the topics on the tests are on the review. No surprises. Drops your lowest test score as well. Take her for 120.
Super helpful and interactive.
Only downside is there are just three exams, plus final. Therefore, retaining knowledge gained is difficult, as one is constantly in cram mode for exams that cover up to seven chapters. It would be great to slice the semester into smaller pieces. Very knowledgeable instructor however, and this is the developmental class you've been looking for.
She is very nice, but this class was not for me since i am not good at test taking and memorizing material from several chapters, this is what this class is about. It sucks how your whole grade is based on 3 tests, 1 project, and the final. It is really hard to bring up your grade if you get bad test scores, there is no room to improve it sucks!
Dr. Pak is almost too nice. I got a little frustrated during the semester because of the anecdotes she let other students spill, and we strayed from the lectures. However, she does have good lectures and gets the point across. I'd say I learned a lot from her, and she kept it interesting!
Dr. Pak is an awesome teacher. Recommendation for this class is Always do the study guides and keep all your short answer question results.. You will need them for the final. Study the short answers and review study guides. This will help you pass the final. Great class.
Dr. Pak is a nice lady and although I'm a psych major Developmental is probably my least favorite branch. However, best part was when she let us write several of our final exam questions ahead of time (the final is essay form) and she graded them, and wrote feedback, which made studying for the final A LOT easier than it otherwise would've been.
Maria will stay past the time you're supposed to be out, BUT she is probably one of the most laid back teachers. She gives you SO many options to pass the class and you only need to do 4 (unless you're tutoring). Three tests and a paper. All the tests are based off lectures. Also, she will show up to every class, so don't hope for a cancellation.
The material was really boring but she loves her job so thats good
Maria is a great professor. Psychology can be a bit awkward at times, especially for young students right out of high school, but Maria handled all of the topics professionally and energetically. I took the class 8am on Mondays/Wednesdays, and I never had to fight falling asleep. The grading was fair.
Professor Pak is one of the smartest instructors on campus, and I have so much respect for her. This class was so boring to me, and I hated it, but it's useful info! There are 3 tests, a final, and the MindTap or CSL option. It's hard to raise your grade, so you gotta study for those tests and do the assignments. Got an A!
She's okay, but nothing extravagant.
Lots of lecture that is interesting but at time runs a bit dull. If you have taken a child development course, it is almost the same thing. Tests are not cumulative and gives option to do community service and write a paper for final. Overall a fine teacher.
You have 3 options in this class; write 6 essays and take a final, volunteer at YALLA and write weekly journals and no final, or tutor psy120 students and write weekly journals and no final. 3 multiple choice tests with extra credit. one extra credit writing assignment. easy class if you keep up. she also lets you turn in stuff late if needed
Maria Pak is the best teacher I have had at Grossmont. She explains concepts well and makes class interesting. It was an 8am class and she definitely kept the class alive and laughing. I wish I could take her again!
2 options, either write 10 essays and an in class final or volunteer at CSL, write 10 journals and one take home final. She doesnt give out the guide, so you basically have to learn everything from the power points. The first test is the most difficult, so make sure you pay more attention to this one.
She has powerpoints during class, and expects you to read the book to learn more about it. If that was the case, I would've taken an online class. Her powerpoints don't go into detail so if you're looking to write notes during class and rely on those for tests, this class isn't for you.
She gives great analogies to better understand some of the material. Each lecture usually starts off with a small quiz worth 2 points. She practically gives you the answers. That's also how she knows who came to class to mark attendance. GET THE BOOK. Yes, it's on the expensive side but its soooo useful for studying.
Nice as heck, wants to be intimidating but isn't. Lots of short essays, but they are very straight forward. The book was practically useless and a waste of money. All the info is in the lecture and presentations, which she posted online. Offers EC. Lectures can get boring at times. Focus on theorists. No surprises in this class all semester.
She's super goofy but I liked her! She explains the material so well as if she's telling a story and gives great memorable examples. Best advice I would give you is DO THE STUDY GUIDES given! If it's on the study guide it will be on the test, even if she never went over it, with that being said, having the book will be very helpful for this class.
A very outgoing teacher who relates the topic you are learning with personal experiences that make the class very relaxing and enjoyable. Study Guides are essential, if it is on the study guide you will need to know it. Study guides are not difficult, just take a little time. Book is pretty much required to complete study guides. Great teacher!
Great professor. She really knows how to keep her students engaged. I absolutely enjoy her lectures. Quizzes every once and a while. Short papers and tutoring options to help you out. Pay attention in class and you'll pass the tests.
Did tons of extra credit and studied as hard as I could to just get average grade. Nice individuals but you dont learn much. Also when is comes to grading she is weird... too much personal life/home related lecture than actually focusing on power point!
DR. PAK IS GR8! Your grade mostly relies on the tests and a couple of assignments. Tests should be easy as long as you complete the study guide and she also shows you the short answers for the test and her lectures are easy to follow. This class is such an EASY A! Take her, you won't regret it! YOU CAN BASICALLY BREATHE IN THIS CLASS AND GET AN A!
Kind of disappointed in this class. Definitely not an easy A i worked hard did the study guides for the exams still only got a B. She is really nice but I dont recommend this class for an easy A.
Maria Pak is the best professor I've had so far.... She cares about the students and she wants us to learn the material. Her homework assignments are really casual, and the way she grades is *chefs kiss*. Literally could not ask for a better professor.
She wasnt anything like what the reviews i read. Extremely dull and powerpoints don't have anything to do with lectures. she babbles too much about random things, and is not good at explaining anything. her tests are average but i lowkey did not learn anything at all this semester. She wasnt the best professor lets say.
Dr. Pak cares about her students and wants everyone to pass. If you were to fail the first test, she encourages you to go to a one hour group tutoring, which isn't bad. Her tests are pretty challenging and you have to make sure you're being specific with your answers. Overall, I highly recommend taking her as your psych professor!
She is a great professor. Yes she goes off on tangents and makes corny jokes, but if you listen to her content and do the assigned work there's not much more to it. She is a great resource and is there for further questions/guidance. If you do end up struggling, reach out and she'll be more than willing to help. Goes above and beyond.
My favorite psychology professor by far. Her lectures are great, they tie to the material. She truly wants her students to succeed, originally on campus made online, and she made it a breeze. If you are struggling, reach out to her. She truly knows how to set up the material in a way that makes it easy for you to understand. Would highly recommend!
Originally this was an in-person class but it moved online because of COVID-19. But when we were in class she was very helpful, she gave good examples, and she is very nice. You will definitely be writing a lot of essays though she gives a very clear rubric and feedback for each one.
Professor Pak is pretty great! She is very nice and graded fairly. While her tests may be a little challenging, anyone could pass as long as they study. Even when the class had to switch to online she still did great. She is also funny and likes using humor as a way to teach us!
You don't need the textbook. As long as you write down notes during lectures and go over them, you'll do fine in class. I could've gotten an A if I had studied harder so, put effort in her class because tests are a bit hard! Short essays every lesson that are easy so don't procrastinate on those either. Her awkward jokes made the lectures fun.
Save $$ & Purchase old bk not new 1 listed, weekly writing assignments w/ clear grading scale so follow it. Tests- study guides given in beginning of each module, use it as a tool. She's a hella cool teacher. If your having difficulty let her know, shell wk w/ u. P.S. she loves jokes and be active during lecture she loves it
She is a great person and professor. There is a lot of material in this class but she explains all of it in a way that makes it easier to grasp. The grading is mainly based on writing assignments each week and on tests. She gives great feedback and is willing to help with anything you need.
The class consisted of 6 modules for the 6 units taught in the class. Ea. module had 1 discussion, 2-3 quizzes, 1 assignment, and material to read. Due dates were reasonable and she allows resubmissions. 6 unit tests and one final. Final was a bit hard but doable. Tests consist of around 30 questions and are 45 min timed. Prof is super nice.
Great person and professor. Does the best to help her students. Not too many assignments a week and they all had reasonable due dates. She alway allowed to resubmit things or retake quizzes until we got the grade we wanted. Pretty easy course. Recommend
Great class. I looked forward to coming to class every day and feel that I've learned a lot from it. If I ever become a parent I think I'll be a better one because of the things I learned in this class.
Prof. Pak is such a great instructor and very funny. There are 12 WAs, 3 exams, and 1 final 5 out of the 12 WAs are dropped. I found the class easy if you apply yourself and do the work. I 10/10 recommend her.
This course is easy to go through as long as you read the free textbook provided and take notes! There are lots of short quizzes but they're a useful study tool for unit tests. This course was asynchronous and I enjoyed being able to take care of assignments at my own pace.
She was amazing. I personally did well in the class by writing lots of notes which I genuinely enjoyed (I never write notes). She was always very understanding about missing class and was always willing to sit during her office hours to explain topics. Her lectures were always easy to understand and to the point. I would 1000% take her again.
Very good professor. Loves jokes, so bring them with you to class. Lots of extra credit available. You'll often fall into discussions about the topic being lectured about in class. I took the class without ever reading the textbook and passed with above 100% so its not needed. Study the study guides she posts at the beginning of unit modules!!
She was so sweet and kind. !!IF YOU MISS CLASS GO TO OFFICE HOURS!! it helps so much. Write notes theyre really useful but I really enjoyed her class and really actually learned from her.
I had her 2 semesters in a row. Absolutely love her and her lectures (write notes it helps). I will say the exams were really difficult, 3 exams total split amoung the entire semester. But she does things that make the class really easy to pass.
Really nice lady, and you can tell she cares about your success. The syllabus seems really harsh but she's generally pretty chill. With that being said, she's very unengaging. I found myself spacing out a lot because I just couldn't keep focused, had to reteach myself the material a lot. Probably a "me" problem, but still to be considered.
It was an easy class for the most part, she drops a test and drops 2 assignments during the semester. The final exam was online and it was really hard, it was more critical thinking but they were questions from every section. The lectures are really boring for the most part, some parts are entertaining but most I was yawning.
Dr.Pak is amazing. Her grading isn't super tough, lectures are easy to follow, and she offers extra credit. She drops your lowest test score and gives 6 homework assignments of which you only have to do 4. She sometimes goes over the time allotted for the course, so I wouldn't plan on taking another course right after this one.
Professor Pak's class was my first in person college class and it was a great class. She is very easy going, has fun lectures, and as long as you show up to class it's easy to rake up points with the in class activities. Tests are pretty easy as long as you read the book and study her power point presentations.
She does her best to help you if you are struggling to pass. a lot of extra credit. and you don't have to turn in all of the assaignments :) 10/10 and highly recommend !!!!
Her lectures are boring and don't motivate me. I've tried messaging her through email and Canvas, but she often responds late or not at all. I thought she was sweet and caring, but she seems unfriendly, though she does care about the students. The quizzes and exams are quite weird and hard.
Professor Pak's class was a breeze! With easy lectures, flexible assignments, and helpful office hours, passing was a cinch. unstuck study was a game-changer for study prep too. Definitely recommend this class for an easy A!
You'll do great in this class if you put in the effort! She was very understanding when needing to make up a missed test.
This class: only 5/11 writing are graded but these are so helpful, tests require studying key concepts from readings (links provided) not just about information during lecture, but her lectures are great. She is great at explaining all concepts and making them relatable to real-life. Very understanfing and let's you resubmit for better grades.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE FROM, SHE IS RACIST, WHENEVER I USED TO PARTICIPATE, SHE USED TO SAY I WAS WRONG!!! ONCE A WHITE PERSON USED TO PARTICIPATE AND SAY SAME THING I SAID, SHE WOULD SAID "GREAT JOB" A NARCISSIST! I have friends who also took her and said same thing. be aware. she claims plagiarism.
The class was pretty easy. Everything is in the online textbook she has links to. Honestly if she didn't take strict attendance then you wouldn't need to attend class since it's just reviewing the readings mixed with her encouraging everyone to ramble about personal experiences. You have 1 assignment per week, just make sure you read for the exams
3 exams, 1 final, & only 5 simple/short writing assignments. She is an AMAZING lecturer (just don't talk when she asks hypothetical questions cuz she lowkey gets impatient lol). This is one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. The material is easy and she grades nicely, just make sure you understand the concept and you're set.
I loved Dr. Pak's class, and she built a classroom community so effortlessly. I felt more connected to my peers than in any other class. She was funny, caring, and understanding- and always made it through the material in a timely manner. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a beginner or advanced level psych class.
Very funny professor that gives very good examples for helping to understand lessons! Simple class too, just pay attention in lectures, study the textbook, do the few assignments and exams and you should be okay! Every class is a lecture however, so if your attention span isn't that great it may be a bit rough but everything on the slides will help
I had this her for Psych 120 and 150. 120 was harder—read and study or you won't pass. Lectures follow the syllabus, exams are well announced, and she's helpful during office hours with clear feedback. 150 reviews and builds on 120 using familiar examples. She can go on tangents but redirects well. Encourages curiosity and questions. Recommend her
Maria's Pak's lectures were alright, although I feel like I can take this course without her lectures and just read all of the sections she posts on canvas. My test average was a low A, they are pretty easy, although I did take ap psych sophomore year of hs. I say she is pretty easy.
She goes on tangents, but they always relate to the lecture, just have to listen closely. Quizzes can be retaken unlimited times, and assessments follow objectives listed. Drops lowest graded assignment. She has clear guidelines for the class. Only thing is she emphasizes 20% lecture, 80% own work. Wouldn't take again just because kinda corny.
She's nice, funny, and passionate about her job, but her teaching style just didn't work for me. Personally, I thought she taught too slow and she goes off on tangents a lot. It feels like I had to teach myself most of the content, so you might be better off picking a different professor or doing online only.
