Mrs.Parnell is the greatest! People complain about too much homework and writing, well...maybe she gave it because you can't spell. Practice and you learn. The work given was appropriate, and it was helpful.

This may be the most fun i have had in a class. Anyone who can talk**** can pass this class. It's just doing speeches on anything that u know. Then the last speech is a group speech. Real easy and real fun. I would almost take it again.

Very fun and outgoing teacher. Guaranteed good grade if you do all the speeches and particpate. Even offers extra credit and a chance to replace a speech by doing 20 hours community service. Definitely recommend her to anyone... especially the shy and nervous people!

I never thought I'd like this class, but what an easy way to boost my GPA! She makes the time fly by, and is very clear and precise about what is expected of you, and her as well. I would consider Speech II, if only it was a class I needed more than once.

I LOVE MS. PARNELL! She is such a gracefull and sweet person! I did not want to take speech at all but she made the class comfortable as we always had a good laugh or two.

She has very difficult tests, but overall I thought the classroom setting was enjoyable. If you really struggle though, and don't like to study, then this is not the class for you.

Ms. Parnell is one of the nicest Professor's ever. She is helpful, compassionate and makes this class fun. I wasn't very thrilled to take this class, but she made it fun and interesting. I thought it would be hard taking this online, but she was very clear on what she wanted and always kept up communications with you. I would definitely recommend!

Mrs. Parnell is sweet and funny and makes everyone feel comfortable. I felt like I was back in third grade sometimes. Just do each assignment exactly like she asks and you'll do fine. The tests are kinda hard but you can use your notes and your book.

She reminds me of my mother, caring compasionate, but if you don't do it just like she tells you, she doesn't scold you--she just helps you do better the next time. Such a caring teacher! Tests are open book and notes, and you generall only have two a semester. Four main speeches, intro., informative, persuasive, and group.

First of all, Mrs. Parnell is the sweetest woman EVER. I was dreading taking this class beforehand. She really helped me loosen up and become a more confident speaker. She has a wonderful sense of humor and really cares about her students. Very sympathetic and very laidback. I do; however, thinks she lets the class become a bit out of control

Loved this teacher! She is super funny and cares about each student. She is easy to talk to and makes speaking infront of the class easier. 2 BB Tests, written exam 50 mult. choice... 4 speeches but you can do community service to get out of the persuasive speech. The best speech instructor. Made the class feel relaxed. I was very nervous to take this class and Ms. Parnell made the atmosphere so relaxing that you weren't nervous to speak. After telling you all your good points,she very gently told you how you can improve. It was painless. Take her!

I did not want to take speech at all but she made it fun! She's so funny and makes you interact with everyone in a good way. I made an A on every speech and did it in 6 weeks. You just have to read the chpaters for the tests but they are still really easy. You can aslo opt out of a speeach using service learning! Take her!

Speech Communications. Great lady and teacher. Just do what is asked of you in class and it will be easy. 3 tests total. All open book. The way she conducts her class will make you very comfortable giving a speech.

Mrs. Parnell is the nicest, craziest, & funniest professor ever! I really didnt want to take this class but she made the atmosphere so comfortable and everyone got to know each other really well in the class. You can really see the improvement in her students. Ended up being one of my favorite classes!

Took her online and it was generally pretty easy. The only bad thing is she never grades anything so good luck if you want feedback. It took her until finals week to grade the second speech we did back in October. There are still two papers and one speech she hasn't posted grades for and the class is over...

I absolutely loved this woman. If you haven't taken Speech yet, take her. She removes your jitters, for public speaking. I took this class as a hybrid; onlinecampus, and there were a few technical bugs that had nothing to do with her, but she worked with everyone, and she was SO nice and patient. I can't say enough good about her. Funny and sweet.

Professor Parnell is AMAZING! I took her speech hybrid class. There is discussions every week, 2 tests, and a final. We met every week in class to do our speeches. She understands how scared everyone is, so by the end of the class you will see you classmates as family. which will help you to feel comfortable. I wish she taught more classes!!!!

I suggest taking her hybrid course even though you'll probably end up missing her because it ends too fast. Super sweet and funny. You'll have three individual speeches and a group speech. With the hybrid course you will take quizzes online but they are all open book/notes. Easy A if you put time into your speeches. Often lets you out early.

Professor Parnell is such a caring individual. She makes all lectures easy to relate to. She is very personable and will remember certain details about you. I can't really find anything bad to say about her. She can get easily distracted at times but that isn't always a bad thing. She is understanding and I wish I could take her class again!

Take this class. Only 5 speeches over the course, each of them covering a different style of a speech. HW and quizzes on the online textbook, pretty straightforward and easy to do assignments. As long as you actually attempt to put work into the speeches you'll do fine in the class. Super caring and understanding, easy A if you put in the work

Amazing speech teacher, really helped me get over a ton of anxiety. Tests are easy and done online, open-book so it's a total breeze. Easy grader, topics don't matter, only the delivery of the speech does. As long as you show up to do your speeches you'll probably be fine, there is one group speech though.

This was a hybrid class so all busy work is done on-line so you need to be self dependent to get this done. As long as you put in some effort, she will recognize that in your speeches and you'll be fine. Definitely a fun professor. Do not try to half ass this class and think you'll pull the wool over her eyes. Communicate with her!

Professor Parnell is one of the best teachers Ive had! I was nervous to take speech because talking in front of people isnt my thing but she made it such a comfortable environment and graded easily on the speeches. Shes super sweet and personable and will help you if you have a problem! Wish I could take her again.

She's a very kind teacher and gives some pretty dang good hugs. Just remember to do your journals, but even then it's not a big deal. I didn't even finish my final exam, got a sixty and missed at least 5 journals and I still got a B. Not a hard class, but if you're looking for a teacher to answer your emails when you're confused try elsewhere.

The Communications class wasn't difficult at all. I recommend doing all the discussion posts and the homework that may be associated with it. The online portion of the class is worthless and felt completely disconnected from the classroom portion. Everything done through LaunchPad was a let down compared to the classroom experience, waste of money.

There were 3 single speeches and one group speech. Because of COVID, we didn't do the group speech and one of the single speeches was online. There were unit exams through CANVAS, weekly discussions because the class was a hybrid, and weekly homework through LaunchPad. Not a hard class along as you do the easy assignments. Parnell was really cheery

I honestly enjoyed her class and she gives a lot of little assignments but theyre easy and boost your grade. I hate presentations but she made them a lot less scary and she is not a tough grader and wants to see you succeed.

Great teacher. Had to merge my Honors class with the reg class. She was a really easy grader, she likes when classwork is done too. No group project this semester, but she mentioned it is typical. Idk If she's dropped it for good. Very nice and makes the presentations easier since she's so supportive! It's not busy work, it's a communication class.

I was never good at public speaking and still after this class will never do it willingly, but towards the end of the semester I noticed drastic improvement with how I spoke in front of an audience. Professor Parnell makes you feel comfortable and at ease even with how high anxiety public speaking can be, she is understanding and great at her job.

I LOVE Dr. Parnell. She is really kind and understanding. 3 oral speeches for the semester, 1 short written speech, easy online McGraw hill textbook work. Attendance is a grade, but class is really fun. Speeches are not high pressure, highly recommend her!

She was very nice and class wasn't boring, very energetic. Overall easy class but a lot of textbook assignments. Presenting speeches are mandatory for your grade but she isn't a harsh grader.

The perfect online class. Interesting material and easy assignments. 90% of the material is quizzes (some are longer than others). Only 3 discussions and 3 papers. But they are easy and relatively short.

Dr. Parnell is a fantastic teacher, I took her 8-week speech course and the only issue I had was the volume of the assignments. There are a ton of textbook assignments that are all due the last week of class, so if you take the 8-week, don't forget about them. The speeches are easy and she gives great feedback, & I had no issues with communication.

super energetic and down to earth. I love her and she's very accepting and warm to everybody of any race or gender. Very clear on feedback and forgiving if you miss the date on one assignment. she'll reopen it for you.

This class involves a total of 4 speeches throughout the semester. The last one is a group speech. Speeches are worth 40% of your grade. Parnell is not a super tough grader though. There are also a lot of Connect assignments in this class and discussion forum assignments. They're pretty easy though. I recommend this class and she is really nice!

Parnell is extremely kind and gave fantastic feedback. I took public speaking years ago and withdrew because of the professor, I had a fear of public speaking ever since. I'm GLAD when I retook the course this summer I got Parnell as my instructor. Her course is easy to understand and straight forward. She messages back promptly and grades fairly.

She's a very energetic and fun teacher. I feel as though she is always supportive and understanding. Would recommend this class especially if public speaking isn't your best skill. She does assign homework, connect assignments, however they are very easy and she gives you like a month to do each batch. Just make sure not to cram them last minute.

Lots of easy mini assignments but gives appropriate time management for them. No exams just quizzes on chapters and about 3 "big" assignments.

I loved this teacher! She is a very good grader and was very helpful. She responds within 24 hours and when grading my speeches she wasnt strict. I failed speech the first time I took it but this class was very easy though their was A LOT was busy work. The busy work wasnt hard, its required in the course so it doesnt reflect her. Shes very kind.

Wonderful professor! She makes sure you're taken care of and is very quick with her replies when needed. All of her tests are pretty much multiple choice; we had a couple of papers, but it was all fairly easy work, and she grades pretty lightly. Would take again 100x.

She's super kind and helpful. She prefers class participation over lectures and encourages us to ask questions. She usually takes about a day to respond to emails and answers every question. There are a couple presentations, individual and group.
