maria is a gem. great lectures with helpful notes, exams that make sense, 60 q in 60 min. but whoever designed lab part is just evil. Quiz are 5 q in 2 min and exam are 50 q in 22 min. In those 22 min I go through the stages of grief twice all while having a heart attack. dont take this class if you have high anxiety, and better get fast internet

Maria plays the nice lady role. But she really doesnt care about her students. Her lectures on line are boring and if you have sleeping issues, just watch one of her videos. She runs fast through slides and talks a lot. That is almost no interaction on her class and on line was much worse. She has no office hours. She said that is after class. BAD

Such polarizing reviews. After a long semester, I can say that Maria is lovely. She explains complicated processes simply and provides online lecture recordings. If you don't get something the first time you can replay it. Attendance isn't mandatory. Tests are straightforward - all content comes from her slides and lecture notes that she provides.

Lec: Maria is great. Straight forward exams. Just study the PPT & notes she gives. 4 exams, 60MC 60 mins -50% of grade. Lab: a lot to memorize. Dont really need to read manual if you answer pdf ques & study the models & functions given. 4 exams, 50ques 22min -44% of grade. 6% attendance and up to 4 EC pts on overall grade based on 4 quizzes.

Take, my advice don't take her. Most of it is memorization and there is A LOTT OF CONTENT making the lab exams very difficult. Unless you are looking to drop your GPA, don't take this class! She is also rude in most of her emails.

DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN!! She plays that she's so sweet and loving but she does not care about her students. Nor does the lab instructor/manager frank care either. they be so worried that their students gonna cheat but literally during covid when I took her class they made our lives impossible. SHE LISTENS TOO MUCH TO THE LAB MANAGER.

Lecture portion is fairly standard. No big deal. Lab is stressful. Too much to memorize and it's never enough. Luckily my lab TA was great and the grading was rather lenient, but I've heard some horror stories from classmates with different TAs.

During lecture, she talks really quickly. I recommend recording her lectures and listening to them again when you study. She also gave 2 scientific papers per week that we were expected to understand. We were tested on them on her exam. It was helpful that she gave past exam questions so we could practice. Her exam was all essay.

My issue with Maria is that she is too concerned with cheating. Was upset when students got good grades on her exams. LOCKED and made lecture notes completely inaccessible so was impossible to study for lecture exams. Lab is 100% determined by your TA. If you have a good TA, you're lucky bc my TA gave no free grades. NO CURVE WHATSOEVER!

The lady is evil! First exam we did good, she complained, increased the Qs and decreased time for next exams. No EC, no curve. So focused on cheating, she locked the notes so we can't highlight, print or search which is terrible for studying. Lectures are boring. Unfortunately, she was the only one teaching so we had no choice

Lecture tests are 60 questions multiple choice. She doesn't give extra credits and only gives you 60 minutes so a minute per question. Absolutely hate the Biology department at Hunter, it is very disorganized. She is the only professor that teaches this course which is absolutely stupid.

I never go to her class. She posts her notes and the lecture videos on BB. The notes are fine but her lectures are boring and she's all over the place. I just learn everything on Youtube like i do with every class I've taken at Hunter. Do I learn anything, no. Am I doing well in her class, yes. It's teach to test. Not teach to learn. Typical Hunter

Her talking makes you fall asleep! She's "evil" like what others said. She didn't give us more time even though everyone requested it. She says "the average is high, time isn't the problem." Well, it's because we are FUMBLING to get it done! Average high, she makes next exam harder. Totally not understanding, but she's the only prof for BIOL 120 :(

online lecture and exams. lecture is boring (print the notes she provides they're very helpful) lecture is easy compared to lab. You don't need the textbook for lecture.
