she is awesome. really, she makes the class super easy its almost a joke. powerpoint, with the material thats going to be on the test highlighted in red, tons of extra credit, you get exempt from taking the final if you have enough pts. if you dont get an A then there is something wrong with you. take her. she prob. is the easiest proffessor ever
this class is easy and interesting. attend class so you get the extra credit and read assigned chapter..i got an A+ and was exempted from the final :)
Easiest class ever. Don't waste your money on a textbook everything is on the powerpoint (which you can download from home). Attendance not required but extra credit is given in class.
Easy, easy, easy. Even easier if you have an interest or understanding of psychology/human growth. I took her during the summer so everything was accelerated. You don't need the book because everything's online like the presentations and notes. Attendance isn't mandatory but she gives you extra credit in class and notes on videos for the exam.
easy to get A. FIU should hire more teachers like Maria Reid. No need for text book, everything is in the power point and she gives you review before the exams. Very easy! easy! easy!
This class has a lot of info. Not an easy A but definitely doable. She's not mean but can come across as rude. I was not thrill about her but wouldn't mind taking her again. Her study guides are very broad and she gives them out a class before test. (not good). Getting the book is relative to you, is not absolutely necessary but i found it helpful.
Bad class
Took this class the first semester she taught it. Probably the easiest 3000 level course out there. She is very clear during lectures. There are online quizzes for every chapter [which are a joke; guaranteed a 100 on each one]. The midterm and final are both worth 40% each, but don't sweat. Just do the study guides. It's EXACTLY what's on the exam.
The Professor is ok, she's funny sometimes. Although at points she seems rude. The book is not necessary but may be helpful. Everything is on power points. Password for quizzes are given in class only. I do recommend this class. All you have to do is study for tests well and you'll be fine. You can say its an easy A
GREAT PROFESSOR! She is witty and gets straight to the point. She has a review for the exam and extra credit opportunities. She is extremely helpful after class and responds to emails quickly. I recommend her class, you are guaranteed the grade you want.
She is a nice lady but her in class lectures can get boring. Gives a lot of extra credit. Mid-term was a bit hard...covered information from the book that was not in the study guide. Final is decent.
Awesome teacher! She is funny and makes her lectures interesting. All info is on powerpoints (in class+online) and the book is rarely used, only for a couple things (maybe share a book with a friend?) 3 exams-She will tell you exactly what to study for. easy online hw assignments- response ?s or discussions; shows videos in class which are cool!
super easy class!!! theres one midterm and final (not cummalitive) and she gives a review before which is extrememly helpful. there are quizzes once a week online but she gives you two tries and the quizzes are exactly the same both times! lectures are boring, although you dont have to attend class she gives out the passwords which are needed for t
Class is relatively easy if you do the readings and go to lectures. Although you could probably get away with not buying the book if you attend all lectures and take notes. She can be boring and does read off the slides of a lot, sometimes she goes really fast if she's short on time.
Super nice teacher, very knowledgeable on the subject. Class is easy everything is on the slides which are blackboard. She gives you reviews for every test, which is just 50 questions, and many extra credit opportunities. Subject is actually interesting and she really is funny and great. Got an A.
Very approachable. Always late to class. Sighs when she has to get up from her chair to start teaching - in other words, doesn't look like she wants to be there. Easy class.
She is nice & funny, but she is always late to class, takes long to get started , & at times can't control the class. Her study guides are a waste of time, her tests are straight from the book and her tests could be written better. Gives chances for extra credit.
Her class was really boring and redundant. I did not like her at all but her class was fairly easy as long as you pay attention in class. I never went to class and managed a B+.
Decent teacher. Doesn't make it all that interesting, though. But it's an easy A. Don't bother with the book. All her lectures are online. I don't suggest you skip though. She shows videos & expects online discussion on them, & this makes up a huge portion of your grade.
SHE IS AWESOME!! very understanding and nice. she cares a lot about her students. Her tests are a little bit hard, you really have to read the book.I got an A for the class and I did not get an A on every test, it is possible. If your grade in the class averages to an A you do not need to take the final.
Great professor. Really cares about her students and how they do in her class. She gives a lot of opportunities to bring up your grade. Her lectures are pretty interesting although she goes off topic a lot. Attendance is not mandatory.
Take her she is one of the best professors I have had. SHe is very interactive during lectures and good at teaching us how the class applies to our lives. Her quizzes are based on the book but short essay questions online. Tests are based on book but her study guides are good. Take her :)
Tests are hard but she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. When lecturing, she stays seated behind the desk. I prefer professors who are more interactive and stand in front of class. She is very calm and can be funny at times. Overall good professor.
PSY3213....supper easy! got straight A's. 8 page research paper which she explains exactly what she wants, Tons of extra credit, and 7 quizs she drops the lowest one, and some of them she will make take home. This Class can be hard and boring Maria trys to make if as interactive as possible. She is also very understanding :)
She is very helpful gives lots of extra credit which helps u pass with and A if you do all the work you won't need to take the final.. Two papers not so hard. Exams are a bit hard but with the extra credit you'll be ok and quizzes are fair and some are easier. Attendances mandatory. Uses power points and I clicker, she is always willing to help you
I took Human Growth and Development with Prof Reid online. Easiest A you will ever receive. Minimal effort required. Online quizzes and exams, straight from the text. You don't even have to read as long as you have the book handy for the quizzes and exams. And she gives extra credit. Take it! Easy A.
Dr. Reid is an amazing instructor. She responds to emails the same day. There are no midterm or final exam. However, there are 7 quizzes which are multiple choices, essay questions and drawing sometimes. One research paper due in three parts. If you do all your work I guarantee an A.
Uses powerpoints to teach,& posts them on moodle.Reviews for exams are posted online.Extra credit opportunities.Online assignments like 2 questions based on videos we watch in class.Had to raise a virtual baby & had quizzes based on your virtual baby.Really nice class + good prof :)!
Nice lady and extremely easy to understand. Without trying i got a B+ in this class. She's very helpful and the quizzes are all online and stupid easy. Test require studying, but its nothing hard to understand.
Dr. Reid is a great professor. Not only is she knowledgeable but she is very helpful.I took a few of her other courses and she was great all around. One of the best at FIU.
This is a very excellent PROFESSOR, who knows her field and subjects and explains it very clear, love her class vocabulary, I believe FIU needs professor like her, that are there to teach and challenge students.
I had her for Spring, if you do her xtra credit assignments the test scores are not a major thing. Passed with an A, impossible to fail. Class was fun and entertaining. I recommend her!
Bruh super easy class! A few homework assignments based on videos watched in class with only one or two questions. You get to raise a virtual baby which is mad fun(name it something ghetto to make it more fun)and she looks like Whoopi Goldberg! Only bad thing is she treats it like a hs class and kick people out fi no reason! The tests are cake too.
I really don't know how she has good reviews. Maybe it's this semester, I don't know, but she's very unclear about assignments and when you ask for help she is useless. I find emailing her to be a complete waste of time.
she's nice but her lectures honestly tend to be a little boring. her class is impossible to fail. just make sure you do all the assignments and youl get an a
Her class is easy. Her lectures are ok, nothing super exciting, but the easiness of her class is a good thing if you've got a ton of other stuff going on. I recommend her if you don't mind lectures & reading on your own. basically just read the chapters and you're good to go for the tests. her online assignments are pretty easy too.
I do not like her as a professor. Her exams are not written well and she has boring lectures. I sometimes feel like I am in high school again. I haven't stepped foot in a high school in over 10 years. I am sure she is very gifted in her field, but I don't enjoy her teaching style.
I can't see what the lackluster reviews citing boring lectures, etc were about. She's a phenomenal professor and gives everyone an opportunity to salvage their grade time and time again. The subject matter is fascinating and the assignments she doles out are provocative because she allows you to opine on the topics. Final is not easy. But,she's great!
Dr. Reid did very well teaching us the material, even if the class was online. The papers, assignments, and discussions were not that difficult if you followed instructions and read the syllabus. The only thing I didn't like was that when I had a question, her email back took too long and it was very vague; I had to resort to asking other students.
Great teacher very easy. I would say not mandatory class but sometimes we have group assignments in class super duper simple don't want to miss those easiest 10 points ever. No exams except a final which as long as you downloaded her power-points and left little notes when she told you what be exam you will do fine.
She was an OK, not the best psych professor I have ever taken but I would take her again. If you go to class, pay attention and mildly study you'll pass the class. Her lectures are somewhat interesting and she's a very fair grader. As far as personality, she's kind of rude & snapped at me when I asked her a simple question. I would give her a B.
Class is so easy, take it with her and you will get an A
Great professor! Took her for Summer B. Her class was ALWAYS interesting. She does a lot of fun in-class assignments to explain theories, makes class enjoyable. She is funny and very helpful. She has a quiz for each chapter, so make sure to read the book, and we only took 1 exam at the end. Wrote 1 paper 4 pg mandatory. I give her an A+ :)
Kind of rude when responds to emails. A lot of reading. Powerpoints are useless. Need book. Long Chapters. She did do a lot of chat room meetings. have a lot of quizes and then an huge test for each few chapters. she wasnt the worst teacher but i wouldnt take her again. kind of boring. didnt make the class interesting.
I had her for research and lab for the DEP course..she is so understanding and really wants her students to exceed. To be honest i found this class challenging as i took research methods years before taking this class. She always helped me after class, and i dont think i would have passed if she did not answer my concerns via email and after class.
i have had her for three classes. The least stress was DEP 3305, the most was her research class. For DEP 3305 it's a great elective. She give homework every week, and online discussion assignments but that's what brings your grade up. she gave us one final exam which was online. I got a A plus. I studied her review and that's what was on the final
Amazing professor! Truly cares about her students and will do anything to try and make her students get a good grade! I recommend going to class because in class assignments affect.
I dont know if its her or the class, but I have never had to do more work for an online class before. There is no final or midterm, but a 1500 word reflection paper thats 40% of your grade. If you dont read the textbook, you will fail. She is a picky grader and gives poor feedback. She knows her stuff but isnt keen on sharing. (Dev Psych online)
Okay taking classes with this professor is very easy but then again its very boring. She just sits at her desk and read off the power points. When she sees you do not participant in class, she will pick you to be the speaker in which ever group project you do. If you want an easy A then take her. If u want to learn then don't.
Professor Reid is a very nice lady who speaks very softly, but makes jokes about certain topics that will keep you interested in the class. She is very nice! PAY CLOSE ATTENTION: GO TO CLASS AND YOU WILL NOT FAIL! SIMPLE AS A DIMPLE! EASY CLASS!
Three week winter course. Very well organized. I expected this course to be a lot of work but even in three weeks I found it very doable and easy. Stay on top of the material and review the end of the chapter problems for each quiz. Do all the extra credit (easy) and there is no reason to get below an A.
Exams, assignments poorly written. She is kind of rude and not helpful. The class should be easy, but she grades written assignments capriciously with no explanation or feedback. I would not take a class with her again.
Best psychology professor that FIU has!! If you can take her I highly recommend you do. Her class is easy and straight to the point with quizzes online, movie assignments and fun in class group assignments. She's the best!!! Im not even a psych major and would take more classes with her!
Professor Reid makes this class EASY! She was very helpful and made the topic interesting. If you follow the instructions for the papers, you will for sure pass. No tests, only 7 quizzes and a total of 4 big papers. Also DO NOT buy the textbook! I didn't buy it and got a B.
Professor Reid class is so crystal clear, if you failed her classes-its because you just wanted. She give countless amounts of extra credit opportunities-its crazy. I love her classes-easy! Taking her again for summer B! Take her! She wants u to pass!
I love Professor Reid! She is really a well liked Professor at FIU! I have taken nearly all of her Psyc classes and I am a senior. Super engaged Professor and you will enjoy the lectures in this class as they are very personal. Extra credit all the time and just a overall fun class.
This class is very easy. Quizzes and Test are right from the chapters and you have a lot of time to complete them. If you participate and do your assignments theres no reason not to get an A. Very easy group project, and she gives extra credit. However she is very rude when replying to emails, don't ask her for things unless you really need help.
I took professor Reid for 2 classes over the summer. She is nice. I would say I felt I could accomplish more by staying home and reading the book. She read from the slides, sits behind the computer, and mumbles. I had a hard time paying attention and that's not like me. Not too difficult but I don't feel like I walked out with more knowledge.
Amazing teacher. Midterm and final are from the quizzes. Weekly quizzes on the assigned readings, but are very simple. My Virtual Child was easy and fun. One long discussion forum on My Virtual Child, but not time-consuming at all. This was a very fun class. Lots of extra credit.
The best teacher to take this class. She is very helpfulness in all the senses. She gives a lot of extracredit opportunities during the semester. In my opinion, this class is very hard if you don't pay attention or if you don't study. Professor Reid gives you a lot of tools to improve your grades, but if you don't care, really sorry for you !
Professor Reid is a very funny teacher . Shes hilarious and lectures can be very fun . She can be rude at times asking her questions . You'll have 13 quizzes which are easy . She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities ; so take advantage of that . You'll also have a group project . Overall an easy class
Maria Reid is really a good teacher ! In my opinion, I think that she understand her students a lot because she is an excellent psychologist. At the same time, she is very funny and very helpful teacher. Some people say that she is very rude via email, but I think that it is her style because if you go to he office, she is very kind and willing !
She is very good. This class is one of the hardest of the psychology major, but with her I felt the class somewhat easy to swallow. Quizzes are tricky if you don't like to study. For the papers, you must learn to write scientific. Do not be scared when you send an email to her, she could be rude in her emails, but in class she makes a lot of jokes.
I have taken most of my psych classes with Professor Reid, and honestly she is one of the best professors in the field, she knows her subjects well, provides the opportunity to students to get an A with the way she has her classes structured. Please, with all confidence I advise you to not hesitate and take any class with her!
Professor Reid is honestly the BEST professor you can have for this class! She is so helpful and makes the class interesting. Whenever I emailed her she always responded within 2 hours to help. The class IS a lot of work as far as papers goes and the quizzes can be tricky BUT she gives a lot of extra credit. Theres no reason to fail her class.
This professor is unclear, I literally had to go to my TA for help constantly . I received an A in the class but she refuses to be reasonable with valid excuses. She is not an awesome professor and definitely shows favoritism to certain students. Besides the papers that make you want to pull your hair out the class is easy.
Dr. Reid is probably one of the best, and caring professors I have had. I took research methods in Spring of 2013. Dr. Reid really takes time to make sure you understand everything. She is very supportive and gives most helpful advice. When I say she cares about her students, she really does. She wants her students to succeed. -A
Already hate her :) No help
She is not clear on her class instruction and doesn't seem to care. Seems to give off a very rude attitude in her emails.
Very easygoing! Don't miss class too often bc she gives unannounced quizzes and group assignments that are graded. Her final exam is open book, so buy the textbook and you should do fine. Her lectures are posted on Blackboard and she makes herself available. Taking her again for Research Methods - PSY 3213.
Dr. Reid, man. Definitely a character. Easy A, but don't expect it if you don't show up. There are in-class group assignments, that are beyond easy, but make up the majority of your grade. Make sure you are there for them. Interesting teacher. She always manages to get the class involved. It almost seems as if students teach half the class.
She is not exactly the nicest person, she is very straight to the point and she HATES having to repeat herself. The class requires a lot of your time. The paper is broken down into 5 shorter papers which was not that difficult, but she also has weekly assignments, discussions and quizzes. DO ALL THE EXTRA CREDIT (sona and keyword quizzes).
Easy class, easy grader. She offers so much extra credit, DO NOT bother worrying about what you get on the exams. She can come off a bit rude, and does not like to repeat herself. Only e-mail when you need to, she does reply very fast though. Would recommend her for this class. Its a lot of work though, but doable and easy to do.
She gave chapter checks via blackboard. You have to read the chapters if you want to pass. The 1st test was multiple choice, and the rest were written. If you want to do well, you need to study, start your papers early, and talk to the TA. Labs are important to attend to understand what the papers are about. You have to work for your grade.
I took this class online. At first it was a lot of work, but once you get the hang of it, its really manageable. The tests are a bit hard, but with so much extra credit you'll be okay! The group project was such a hassle though. Some members wouldn't even reply to emails or the group wiki, so you just have to find ways to communicate with them.
Overall, it was extremely easy. The group project was a hassle, because some members wouldn't reply to emails or the group wiki. Other than that you just have to find ways to communicate with each other.
Honestly, if you don't pass it's your fault. She's very reasonable and follows the syllabus exactly, unless it's to give an extension. She gives extra credit and if you listen in class you'll be fine. The papers are a bit of a hassle but totally manageable. She cares about the students but if you're doing something stupid, she will call you on it.
Took her for SOP 3004(SUMMER). Her class overall was easy. She gives Class assignments each class. ASSIGNMENTS counts toward your grade. YOU also get a Quiz each class on blackboard. You have one paper to write and you have the whole semester to complete. Exam is also done online at home. We had a lot of interesting talk sessions TAKE HER CLASS!!
I wish she taught all of the psychology courses. This was my 3rd class with her. Since psychology is my major, I have learned a lot of the information from previous professors. Yet, when she taught it, it was clear and understandable.
She can be a bit abrasive and sarcastic, but who cares? The class is easy. Stay on her good side. If you're going to ask questions, make sure they're not stupid questions. She's always available to help and responds quickly to e-mails. You really don't have to do the readings if you show up to class. Did I love her? No. Did I love my A? Yes.
I am warning you!! please take this class with another teacher. I took her for six weeks because I didn't want to risk taking her for a full semester. She is very rude and makes you feel dumb for asking certain questions. Research methods is one of the most challenging psych classes. If you have a great teacher you will pass unlike her. BEWARE!
Rude professor. That's all I have to say.
She tends to be sarcastic and blunt, however she is nice, she is just very straightforward and has a sense of humor. The class consists of many group projects, so go to class you cannot make them up! and movie quizzes, she gives extra credit, and her final takes a lot of prep time because of the essays, but it's not too difficult. Would recommend.
I took it online and at first navigating the class is confusing but I got used to it. A quiz for every chapter, 4 tests, nothing cumulative, and a group project. You also have to buy an access code for myvirtualchild and buy two textbooks. No tests are proctored & she gives extra credit. I didn't put much effort into the class and still got an A
The material itself was not bad but she is a HORIBBLE professor. I have never disliked a professor more. She is rude and her feedback is condecending. She is incredibly unclear about what she expects in papers. I emailed her asking a question about a paper and never got a response. AVOID HER!!!! There are way better professor to get an easy A from.
Don't get scared by the comments. Yes! she is no helpful at all but the class is completely double. No matter who you take this class with there will be A LOT of work and VERY LONG papers but as long as you read and do the work you will pass. She is an easy grader and gives plenty of extra credit.
Group project is super easy, homework includes reading the chapters then taking the quizzes. Gives a lot of extra credit. Two virtual simulations which were easy and you have all semester to finish them. Responds to emails on time and grading criteria was easy to follow. Best A to receive, just do the work.
Lectures a lot. A lot of movie quizzes. the quizzes aren't to hard though so the class is doable. Just do all the work and you'll be fine. 1 paper and 1 final. No midterm.
Dr. Reid is a great professor. Most of her classes are interactive but you are learning without even noticing. Show up. Especially research methods any teacher is hard. Tons of busy work. But if you do it and try you will get and A. She gives you feedback at anytime. Is funny easy going not too serious. Would take her for more classes if I could.
Grade is based on easy "quizzes" which are actually short writing assignments, and a final exam (which is 3 hours at home), and a group 3-4 page (of content) paper.
She's Okay. Her lectures are good but she is very bias. If she doesn't like your major, She will put you down and make you feel like crap. You don't have to come to class but you do have to read the textbook. It's a very easy class. I am currently taking the class and at this point, I see myself getting an "A"
Great professor! Really wants all of her students to succeed. Very knowledgeable. Definitely have to work for your grade, this was the hardest class that I have taken for my Psychology major. Dr. Reid gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit. Take her!
Professor Reid is very understanding. She is lenient with deadlines (if she sees her students need more time for a certain project or exam, she'll push the dates back). Answers to emails almost instantly. However, she's not very good at explaining. If you did not understand Stats 1, GOOD LUCK WITH THIS CLASS.
She has to be, by far, the worst professor I have ever taken at FIU. She is so vague on her comments for papers. There is a lot of work but its this course in general. It would be much easier if she cared for her students success in the class. & don't even both emailing her. She writes back one answered responses. She does not care!
Reid uses an old syllabus so some due dates are messed up but it's still your fault if you miss something. Doesn't respond very well to emails, either she gives you a one word answer or simply cannot answer a question. Take another Professor if possible.
I find it funny student's get academic punishment for plaigirism yet this Professor used another Professor's slides, Ryan Winters, as her own and nothing happens. Well this is plaigirism too FIU! She's rude and undecated, DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!!! unless absolutely neccessary, youve been warned.
Class is hard at the start, but she makes it even harder with little feed back and confusing due dates in the syllabus. Her response to questions feel like you are bothering her even though it is her mistakes that you are questioning.
Ok here's the truth: If you're good at Statistics this class will be easy & fun for you. If not, get ready to study because she doesn't lecture at all or explain very well. The benefit is there are a ton of easy grades you can get As on. Easy grader on assignments. Goes over every quiz, test, & hw. She's lenient with deadlines and pushes them back.
I took this professor for DEP 2000 and SOP 3015. The classroom class is amazing, she doesn't take attendance. The online class is a bit tedious and there is a lot of work but overall, this professor is very easy and informative. She is always available if you have any questions. Easy A.
Online class is a little annoying when it comes to discussions but the quizzes and tests are so easy if you read the textbooks or the material she gives. She is very nice and its a good class to take for an easy A. I took this as the dynamic-mini session so some material was cut out. Overall good prof
Took this course online. Totally recommend for an easy A. If you do all your work, you will pass. Tests are 50 questions of a bunch of opinionated questions but if you share a textbook with someone, they are doable.
The class wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for her attitude. You cannot approach her with any concerns cause she is super rude and makes condescending/rude comments or just rolls her eyes at you. A lot of movie quizzes and in class activities, plus a paper you have to write in groups.
If you don't understand & are not self teachable in statistics then don't take her. I understood statistics and find it enjoyable so her class was very easy. You will be part of a group the entire semester so you can always get help from them. Very easy grader. Study the powerpoints and you should be fine for the tests. & A LOT OF EXTRA CREDIT!!!!!
Reid is a great Professor. If you get your work done, study and interact in class your guarantee an A. A lot of work gives you a chance to bring up your grade. Shes very knowledgeable and overall good genuine person. Youll enjoy her class. Dont miss out on the opportunity if taking her. Take her as many times as you can, she offers many courses!
Professor Reid is one of the best professors I've ever had. She's very knowledgeable about the course and she goes over everything! I've read the other comments about her and honestly I don't know which professor they had. Professor Reid is great and she's a very lenient grader. The class isn't hard because she's helpful and even put you in groups.
Her lectures are very interesting and she really gets into her topics. She's funny and very knowledgeable of what she is teaching. He assignments are not difficult at all, as long as you turn in all of the assignments you will pass.
I took Professor Reid for PSY 3211, PSY 3215, and DEP 3305. She's very straight forward with her assignments. She does in class assignments for Research Methods to help her students understand the material. You don't have to pass her tests to pass the class (Research Methods). She gives a good amount extra credit. DEP is easy. Do the assignments.
Be sure you get the textbook and read. Alot of things are to be done on your own and with your groups. For the most part you are teaching yourself. Discussions with your group every week/every few days. Pop quizzes in the beginning of class (very easy). Tests aren't that hard just make sure you know the concepts and you will pass.
Make sure you are fine with teaching yourself, thats exactly what you will be doing the whole term. The book IS needed.
Very rude professor. She is very unapproachable and extremely rude. Did not make the class enjoyable whatsoever, and I was actually looking forward to taking the class and had a bad experience.
Great Professor. She broke her shoulder and came back to class early from recovery. Irespect her and her method very much.
Easy A for an online class. She offers A LOT of extra credit. The exams are a little tricky but with the extra credit it evens out. The only thing that was annoying was the group project, just because it had to be all done through canvas. Not a harsh grader, just follow her rubrics and you are all good. Its a lot of work but an easy A!
great experience
I took her for summer A and it was very fast paced. A paper, a test and a couple assignments due every week. If you miss class or don't pay attention, good luck. Make some friends and truly engage in class. Her lectures and class work are essential. Take advantage of the help offered. Overall, I actually learned a lot so it was rewarding for me.
Was not a grade oriented class. Taught us responsibility and tested out creativity.
This is by far the WORST teacher I have ever had! Ive heard of better profs that teach the difficult material of PSY3215 & tried to take them but their classes were full so I was stuck with Maria Reid. Terrible at responding to students. Very unclear what she wants from her students in assignments/labs. Many quizzes, exams, papers, discussion. SMH
For research please take the class with another professor you will not learn anything here and will be teaching yourself the material. She doesn't use powerpoint or anything she will just sit and read chapters from the book. Assignments and tests are all fill in the blank. I regret not getting out of this class sooner.
Prepare to teach yourself because she doesn't explain anything and grades hard on the papers and exams. The whole point of this class is to teach you on how to write a research paper. I haven't learned anything and have spent most of my time at the lab with tutors helping me.5 tests, alot of homework and assignments
SHE LITERALLY DOES NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP. SHE JUST SITS AND GRADES DOES NOT EXPLAIN ANYTHING. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER.
Funny and very understanding. I got A for both Research Methods I and II. She does not lecture, but she answers all your questions. You suppose to read the material before class in order to understand what she is talking about. She doesnt take attendance, but dont miss the easy quizzes she gives every class. They really help your final grade.
This has been the worst professor I have had the entire time I have been at FIU. She was rude, had slick comments, was not helpful at all. She had preference for certain students in the class and it was obvious. When you would ask for help with something she would either answer back with attitude or super dry , and just not helpful at all. HORRIBLE
If you want to pass don't take this professor. She has been the worst Professor I have taken. You won't learn anything. The test have nothing to do with what she tells you to study. Not a fair grader. Very rude, sarcastic, has an attitude when you ask for help. I do not recommend her at all.
Its a pretty easy class so do the work and you will be good. I never buy textbooks, but you NEED it for the exams, you wont find most of the answers online. 4 exams, lock down browser. There is a group project and one of the members submitted it in the wrong place and she gave us -10%.
If I could give this professor a negative score I would. The course is not so difficult, but this professor finds a way to complicate everything. Her instructions are vague and unclear and when you email her for clarification it seems like it is a bother. She is extremely rude and is never willing to help. Whatever you do do not take this professor
Not only is she vague with what she wants in her work but she gives no examples or parameters of what she wants and does not want for her assignments. I recommend you stay far away from this professor. I have gotten straight A's on all my assignments in my previous research methods class until I took her. EXTREMELY vague and difficult for no reason
worst teacher I have ever taken. her class really made me depressed and extremely stressed out. I would just avoid her if I were you.
Professor couldn't care less, extremely easy to pass. Test use lockdown browser, some questions will be worded weird but if you take extra credit quizzes (15 points) and attend office hours (2 points each) you should make up for a few slip ups. Lots of money spent on books and online stimulation. No PDF for books online. Lots of busy work but easy.
This class is not easy regardless of your professor. With that said, I'd describe her teaching method as being harder than it needs to be. Our lab instructor was amazing and engaging (Carolina Vias). Reid on the other hand is difficult to work with and often vague in what she wants to see. Look into other professors at FIU for this course.
I think she is tough but fair. Skip class and important information will be missed. Assignment descriptions were detailed, would take again if I have to.
she is the b best teacher ever.
Worst teacher I have ever taken hands down. Does not care about her students and expects us to know everything and gets mad when we ask questions. Extremely rude whatever you do DO NOT take her.
Professor Reid is a good teacher! I took her for an online class and it was honestly easy and super interesting. I recommend her !
Good professor. I scored an A in the class! Lectures are very important, as is looking over all your assignments before class (she asks questions about them). Be proactive, listen to feedback, and ask questions and youll do fine! Make sure to look over all assignments instructions, rubrics, sample papers, and lab ppts if you have questions
First off, If you don't put in the work don't expect an A. She is an amazing professor, if you show up to her office hours and the LA office hours and ask them questions they will help you. She does give a lot of assignments as a way to improve your grades if you do not score well on the papers. I would highly recommend her.
If you have the option not to take her DONT. She is very confusing with how she calculates grades and then she doesn't allow you to see your grade the entire semester. She has three options for the course so you choose whether you do option one two or three but guidelines are not clear AT ALL. I've never had a teacher so confusing.
I think she is hard to get a A or even a B. She provides a lot information. does not give enough time to complete the exam. one minute per question. You have to be a faster reader.
this professor has been by far the hardest one I have ever taken at FIU. unfortunately, she was my last resort. don't make the same mistakes I made; wait until a better professor is available. MARIA REID WILL DRAIN YOU !!!!!!
amazing person. horrible professor.. does not provide study guides that correlate to the exams given out, in other words does not specify what to study for exams. expects us to know the entire book. gives extra credit which will be the only reason you pass, but does not take the time to fully make you understand content. relies too much on LAs help
Professor is really confusing and shes not really clear .You dont know if you passing or not .I just wish she cared about student grades more.
Professor honestly sucks. The class is easy to pass but dont get stuck with a group that slacks or you'll pay the price. There's 3 to 4 assignments due every friday with 2 of them being optional or extra credit. You have to calculate your own grade throughout the course based off the syllabus. She is disrespectful and just rude to students.
Would not recommend her even if she was your last option. RM2 is a heavy course as there are a lot of discussions, assignments, quizzes, and papers due and sometimes all due at once. Professor Reid came off rude and inconsiderate at times and made the class feel like a bother when emailing her.
Prof Reid would be a LAST resort, RM2 is time consuming. But for me it was her attitude when you email her for help or feedback, she comes off as passive aggressive or like you are bothering to her and refers you back to the instructions. (WOW DIDN'T THINK OF THAT!) I would have to email another professor in order to get some actual help!
I would not let my worst enemy take this class if I was you drop her and save your self the trouble, you would never know your grade in the class.
Professor Reid is a terrible professor and wouldn't recommend taking her at all. She is rude when speaking to her students, and when she makes a mistake she has to make sure she is passive towards you when correcting. She doesn't give good directions when it comes to assignments. Yes the course itself is easy, but she makes it more complicated.
It was an online class, so super easy. There are only 4 deadlines to turn in quizzes and assignments, but overall not severely time consuming. I would recommend taking online because it's an easy A. The virtual child was my favorite assignment, but that was a big time consuming. Just make sure not to fall behind.
What a great professor. It's so good to finally have a teacher who cares about her students.
Heavy workload but stuff is due once a month so it's doable. She's an easy grader and gives a lot of extra credit. I wouldn't get on her bad side, as she may not be as responsive/can be sarcastic. Overall, I enjoyed the course. I would recommend her for ones serious about psychology and wanting to apply what they know in real-life like projects.
Dr. Maria Reid it's an amazing professor. This class entails a lot of papers and work, but she makes the course easy to understand because the papers are divided into parts. You will have 8 discussion posts, 9 assignments, 5 quizzes, 7 exams and 5 papers. She offers various extra credits chance and will answer your questions.
Professor Reid is AMAZING! She really implements a global perspective by sharing films and documentaries. The class consisted of PowerPoints, occasional TED talks, and at times an assignment; there are three assignment options each being doable per week. There is a group project, choose wisely!
Maria Reid is an amazing professor. She is the best.
At first this class may seem like it has a lot of work but its bc she leaves all the work to be done at the end of the month. It is super doable. I found myself ahead and having the month free of work. the only thing that was tricky for me was the group assignment as some didn't communicate. The quizzes and other assignments are cake!
The instructor was average. She offered a ton of additional credit; the only thing I didn't enjoy was that she assigned movies or lengthy videos, and the questions would sometimes be presented in an intricate way that made them challenging. We also had a group assignment, but it wasn't that challenging. Overall, a simple course.
I thought she would be a good option, but i was wrong. She makes you feel stupid for asking questions, expects you to know everything, does not teach well, the tests are open response and says that we will do reviews but instead wastes your time. She moves assignments to sooner dates than expected last minute and doesnt allow you to see your grade
I have taken Professor Reid before but it was in person. Taking her online can be very annoying. If you are going to take any course with her, I prefer you take it in person. She used 2 different textbooks and had us doing Pearson assignments and quizzes. Not hard, just tedious.
This class consists of a lot of work but if you read through the powerpoint and pay attention in class you should be good. She is very clear about what she wants and what needs to be done. Don't let the bad reviews influence you she's a great teacher. Attendance is not mandatory but I guarantee you that if you don't go to class you will fail.
This class was very straight forward the whole semester you are doing one paper split into several parts which makes it easier. You also have some quizzes which are easy if you show up to class and do the work. There is a lab which attendance is not mandatory but you should definitely go as any questions you may have will be answered there.
This class was super easy.Class consisted of Pearson quizzes, a few videos and one paper done in a group. Choose your group members wisely.Everything is straight forward and easy as long as you do the work you should pass.Lots of Extra Credit opportunities are given as well. She is a great teacher I took her for 3 different classes.
This class is no walk in the park and it's pretty hard. No professor can make this course any easier! Professor Reid is very difficult overall but she offers tons of extra credit and allows you to resubmit to boost your points. YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY WORK FOR YOUR GRADE!
Very easy course, just pay attention to what is stated in the rubrics/syllabus because she will often make mistakes when grading or setting due dates on Canvas. She is very passive aggressive when responding but will fix the mistakes if you contact her. Easy grader and not a hard class at all.
To be 100% clear and honest, if you can avoid taking ANY of this professor's classes, please do so. I tagged "hilarious" because that is basically this course summed up. Insanely long course. 20+ quizzes (which you have to take through lockdown browser. 1 quiz at a time, per browser.) Professor CHANGED due dates within less than 8 hours. dont take!
Took her for Research Methods 1 & 2. She's brash but she means well! Do your work and you will pass; take advantage of all extra credit opportunities. Your best option through and through!
While the workload can be heavy, the professor is an easy grader and offers lots of extra credit. Unstuckstudy was a huge help for managing the course demands. Just stay on top of the monthly deadlines and you'll do well.
Professor was helpful and flexible.

Professor Reid was one of the best professors I have ever had. The class is had but it is so worth it. This is one of the few classes where I felt like I truly learned significant and valuable information and developed many useful skills. She is a tough grader, but she is extremely wise and intelligent. She is also very helpful outside of class.
If you can avoid taking a class with this professor save yourself and don't do it. She is very difficult to reach through email, you're lucky if she ever responds to you. She is a tough grader and for whatever reason she has us calculating our grades on Excel sheets not Canvas? Just very tedious and annoying to have to deal with in college.
I took this professor for 3 classes Research Methods 1/2 and SOP 3015. She's great and pretty funny. Just do your work and turn everything on time and you will pass
She is so boring in class and my session was 4.5 hours, diabolical. She didn't let us have our waters during exams and had the TA's stare us down. She is very unforgiving for grading, the course is extremely fast paced and she seems to hate her job as an educator. So many papers, playposits that are very difficult, and busywork. AVOID
We had a final paper worth 25% of our grade. Mine was messed up due to canvas reformatting it, and she did not respond to my canvas messages, emails or phone calls. She gave me a 0 out of 75 due to a technical error. She wasn't even the one that ended up fixing it, it was the Ph.D student that did. She simply chooses NOT to respond to your messages
Professor Reid has been the best instructor I've had and confirmed my transfer to FIU was the right choice. She is supportive, allows late work flexibility, and provides clear tutorial videos that prepare you well for the four fair exams. Final exam only if you turn in 5 assignments late. She's knowledgeable, engaging, and makes learning enjoyable.
We had a lot of homework, which were due on Monday and Wednesday. She will go over the assignment, but if you do it too late, you won't get the full point credit. She extended time to do homework. We only had one paper. There was a total of five exam but if you did not turn in any late assignment assignments, you don't have to take the fifth exam.
