This professor is really good. I was never really interested in pyschology and she made it easy to laern. I recommend taking her as Ive heard other professor give a lot of memorization tests. Shpruik does not. Just read the book and you'll be fine. oh and go to the research things...
Real easy class. She is very helpful and tells you straight out what is up. go to the research things and read. Real easy A. Im no pysch major and I still got an A. By the way, she drops the lowest test score.
She expected everyone to be a psych. major and barely anybody understood a word she said. if it wouldn't have been for the FIG i was in, i would not have taken this class with her. if u get a chance to take this class with another prof., get it.
She is very understing. Gives a lot of exra credit, Chances of getting A are very high because of extra points. I recommend her.
She is a good PSY teacher, BUT all you need to do well in this class is to read the book, underline, and study that for tests AND to do ALL the extra credit. Do those and you get an A. You do have to read and study, but if you do then this is an easy class. MAKE SURE you do the EC! She teaches well, but the book explains even better, just read it!
All of her classes are great! I highly recommend her! She's funny, helpful, and understanding. I had her for memory & cognition (straight lectures) and legal psychology (ppt lectures) and neither was ever boring. She makes class interesting and fun -- so if you can't get at least a B, then you really weren't paying attention.
She's really easy..just do ALL the E.C. study a bit for the tests(the first test is blah but bare with the class). She explains extremely well...but class just gets boring with certain chapters.
This class was very easy, sometimes very boring but if you read the text book, and do all the extra points you would have a good grade. she as a teacher is nice, but when having it with other 300 persons, is hard to know her personally. DO EXTRA POINTS!!
not that easy i recommend someone else if you looking for an easy A
I recommend taking her class her lectures are boring but she tells you what to study for the test. Its very rare to find a prof that actually teaches, if your still not clear on the material read the book, go to her office hours or see her TA. Do the extra credit and its very easy to get an A. There are 4 tests, 5 quizzes, and 4 easy research parts
She's boring but the class is easy. All the notes and power points are posted on the class site. Attendance is not necessary but going would help out a lot. She's also pretty funny when she wants to be. It's an easy A and overall she's a pretty cool teacher. I would recommend her for Intro To Psychology.
It is easy to get an A in this class, all u have to do is attend the class and you wont even have to read. She tells u whats going to be on the test. TAKE IT! EASY A!
first day showed promise because she put some funny austin powers youtube videos but then....boring. I didn't take notes, didn't read the book, thought I aced every test, and it turns out I'm NOT doing well, no duh!...she's nice, but this IS college and you must read and take notes...and you shall pass.
horrible teacher. heard it was easy and decided to take her but i dont know she made the course harder. decided to take this class as an easy A but attendance is required and you have to study really hard for the tests
She does powerpoint lectures which makes her class extremely boring, but other than that she's an easy A/B. Do ALL of the research pts & the extra credit, & online quizzes. Take down notes, and you'll be fine.
Very interesting class. A couple of tests (drops 1), online quizzes, and research participation. Do the extra credit research participations because she will give you up to 50 extra credit points. I got an A, B, and B on the tests, straight B's on quizzes and got an A because of the extra credit. Easy and interesting class.
she thinks shes funny and cool. she calls everyone out. super bipolar,& annoying. she tells you that if you dnt wanna b there then leave but then she will post a secret review and tells u not to share it or you will get in trouble. she drops lowest test grade. and a bunch of online quizes that are a pain.& a bunch of experiements. some extra credit
Shpurik is by far the best psych teacher at FIU. She makes the material totally easy to understand, and keeps it interesting. Just go to class and pay attention, notes help too. She's amazing!!! TAKE THIS CLASS!
Maria Shpurik is the BEST! people who don't like her class are just bitter because they didn't pay attention or go to class. it's really not that hard to get an A... all you do is online quizzes and 4 exams, she drops the lowest.
It IS easy to pass her class but, you need to study for her tests to get an A. She gives extra credit & quizzes which boost up your grade. She called me out in class for asking a question to a friend. She's really rude and doesn't help you AT ALL. And, she gives out reveiws on random days and for random tests, so dont miss.
The material isnt really all that hard and if you do all the extra credit, youre bound to get an A. I got high 70's on all my exams and I still managed to get the A with the extra credit. She explains very well and the only things that pisses her off is constant talking. Pretty much, passing the class is really easy.
Best pysch teacher! The class is super easy, she gives online quizes to help you boost your grade & extra credit (which you should do, you will definetely get the A in the class). Her exams are not hard, you do have to study for them but nothing major. Highly recommend her.
super easy teacher but gets annoyed really easily.....other than that i would take her again gives you a lot of extra credit and i ended up with an A
Dr. Shpurik is a great professor. Her class is easy as long as you do your work on time and pay attention in class. I had the opportunity of meeting privately with her and she is very knowledgable in psychology.
Amazing! She teaches off of PowerPoint slides. She DOESN'T read them verbatim, like many unknowledgeable teachers do. She knows what she's talking about. Always. She explains it until everyone gets it. She highlights what's going to be on the test on her PowerPoints, so all you have to do is write that down. You won't regret taking this class.
She was great! Easy A. Attendance isnt mandatory, she gives extra credit, and in her test review she basically hands you the test on a silver platter. Her powerpoints are straightforward and she highlights what's important for the exam. If you go to class, she demands you to be quiet and respect her...but thats understandable.
Her class was easy if a person puts the time into her review notes for the test and do the extra credit, which is studies that have to be done on your own time. If a person just does this you can get an A+
Speak up in class. Ask questions and make sure she knows you are in the class. Attendance is not mandatory, but i recommend going to every class. Shows videos that will be on the test. Do the extra credit and talk to her one on one and you will get an A. REALLY HELPFUL!
No Laptops. No Cells. No need for laptops, very clear powerpoints where she differentiates in RED, what is GOING to be on the test. She does not want you to write anything unless its in RED. Very good thing! 4 tests (drops the lowest), maybe 3-4 quizzes. TAKE HER, shes great at teaching the course, don't make the mistake of taking someone else. A+!
this prof grades you on two exams and the extra credit she gives is really not much. She doesn't give credit for attendance If you can take another prof. please do! so Many failed this class
this is not an easy professor. You must study in order ot pass her class. This is a University, not Elementary school, so she is not going to baby you. Two exams, gave extra credit opportunity and going to class is mandatory. I studied my but off and got an A. And it was a summer class. Class is easy, but you have to study for it to get an A.
Great class, great professor. Like the comments below, everything that is going to be on the tests are written in red on the powerpoint. She elaborates on the interesting info, and then specifically tells you what you need to know for test. And unlike some professors, she was was telling the truth!
I am always bored in this class. Without studying I managed to pass her exams and managed to score b's and a's on her quizzes. NO LAPTOPS or CELLPHONES! don't talk in her class she will just stop talking and stare at you. Everything is really clear on her power points and most of the exams are based on them.
She's rude and snappy. The lectures could be SO interesting but her attitude is negative so it makes you not want to go to class. Open book online quizzes that you can retake The class itself isn't really hard, the tests are really specific. 20 percent of your grade is for participation in 4 research experiments w/ up to 10 EC points on finalgrade
Professor is nice and always willing to help. Class is very fast paced and does have some on-line components. You must participate in PSY studies @ FIU as a requirement. Lot's of information to remember, exams are multiple choice, non-cumulative and usually cover three chapters at a time. Interesting class.
She's pretty cool .She demands her respect which is understandle. But overall the class was pretty easy. Bascially everything she says is on the tests and she uses blackboard for everything. You kinda have to go to class to get all the info because a lot of times she gives notes that aren't in the book. I say take her.
I'd recommend this teacher to anyone! She teaches through ppt slides and throughly explains everything. You actually learn. It is possible to pass by just going to class and taking notes but reading the book helps a lot. Class consists of a couple of tests and online quizzes. Oh and beware, she hates all electronics and talkers.
This class is not hard to pass at all. I barely ever went to class and just crammed a bit before the exams and got a B.. So if you go to class and study a bit theres no way you can't get an A. She gives 4 exams, the worst of the first 3 is dropped. There's 5 online quizzes which she gives you 2 weeks to complete and 2 chances to take it. TAKE HER!
not the most entertaining class in the world but easy nonetheless. 4 exams including final 5 online quizzes and 4 research studies of participation. very easy class if you read the book or study her notes. she does get a little snappy when you talk in class though.
Professor Shpurik is great! She tries to make the class as interesting as possible. Going to class makes everything easier to understand and remember, but reading the text book is also necessary. Overall great professor, really helpful, and gives clear and concise explanation of the material.
Do the extra credit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome teacher, just review your notes thoroughly and read the textbook.
Do the extra credit it helps! Read all the chapters & their long but the books makes it interesting. Adds stuff from lecture that ALWAYS comes out in exams. Get a quiz every 2 weeks, & u have an exam after every 3 chapters u do, final is not cumulative. She doesnt allow talkin, txtin, or laptops. HAlf way thru the semester she posted slides online.
This class was cake, but really, only because Shpurik makes it that way for you. Only touched the book for online quizzes, but if you don't read you need to attend lectures. The material's easy.Did very little studying and got an A in the class. If you're looking for easy and interesting, take it, and TAKE HER! Good teacher, helpful and funny, too.
She?s helpful when it comes to the lectures and tries to get you to understand the material. The course was not hard, but I did study alot from the book to pass the exams, yet I got a 70, 84, 75, and 70 on all the 4 exams and still managed to get an A+. Her grading scale is easier with 65-75 being a C, 75-85 being a B and anything above that being
"She's rude and snappy. The lectures could be SO interesting but her attitude is negative so it makes you not want to go to class." Completely agree. Class would've been very easy if it hadnt been for her attitude! Lectures were also easy but boring, would talk too much, unorganized, repeat things unnecessarily. But class is easy
she's kool just do what u have to do and ull be ok
She is the most annoying woman while lecturing. She "shhhes" everyone so that we can all listen -.- She does not allow laptops and thinks she's hilarious. There's a lot of opportunity for extra credit. Tests are multiple choice and pretty easy. It's almost impossible to fail.
This woman is probably one of the rudest prof. I've ever had! However, she makes her class so easy ANYONE can pass. You dont HAVE to go to class (and if you dont, you'll spare yourself a boring lecture), but she's annoying enough to put questions about stuff she rants on about in class. The tests are fairly easy. If u can, take w/ another prof!
great professor. 4 exams, 5 online quizzes and lots of extra credit points available. You should have no problem passing this class. SELLING THE E-BOOK/brand new! never opened!: [email protected]
Attendance is not mandatory in this six week summer course but vital to getting an A. She does not post her notes, and her tests come directly from those notes. Lectures weren't that boring. She enjoys teaching this class more than others she's taught so its not bad. 2 tests and a bunch of quizes (she dropped the 3 lowest)and there is extra credit.
She is a great professor and really taught this class well. For the summer term there were 2 exams, a quiz in every class (the lowest 3 dropped) and some participation questions. Attendance is not mandatory, unless you want an A! She really enjoys upper division courses so if possible take those with her. I enjoyed her class very much. TAKE HER!!!
She is not a good teacher, expects you to come to class already knowing what she is going to cover and because of that skips huge chunks of info that will be on tests. She interupts class to tell ppl to be quite which is more distracting then them talking. i got a good grade but had to work for it. If u want to learn dont take psy with her
Great teacher. She keeps it interesting and is funny. Just go to class, daily quizzes are from previous lecture notes, which are easy if oyu just review. She gives you a complete study guide based on notes from class. Her notes are the test so you need to come class. A little bit scary at times but awesome, informative, and funny.
I first A in FIU:). i used this site to choose her, and im glad i did. Her positive comments are exact. She explains clearly, is funny and gives a study guide for each exam, of exactly what will be on the test. No attendace taken, but u get in class participation for being there and using I-Clicker.Great Professor!!!!
GREAT Teacher! You MUST read the chapters in order to get a good grade on the test. Attendance is a must, during her lecture she tells you snippets of what will be on each test. There are many opportunities to boost your grade including extra credit. Fit her into your schedule, she's wonderful!
She was awesome. Despite her snappy attitude, I learned a lot. Take her, she's amazing.
She teaches like if we are still in high school. But extremely easy class. Just read all the chapters and go to class, you'll know what will be on the test.
She's not the most interesting teacher, however the class is really easy! She gives you most of the questions on the exam if you go to lecture. You don't have to go if you don't want to, but she always added a question on something she said in class. Overall the class was really easy.
Kind of a boring subject at first but it gets better. Quizzes come straight from the chapter definitions. The tests are based on the study guides; extremely straight forward. Prof tries to make the subject interesting and does a moderately good job at it. She is very fair
Her Biggest problem is that snappy attitude. You'll be in the middle of writing notes and she'll just scream out of nowhere for someone to be quiet. Cool class when thats not going on. She doesnt care of you dont come but it does benefit you alot on the exams. Quizzes are more difficult than exams... and the book is necessary if you want to pass.
She makes the subject interesting but i did not like the fact that she remains on one topic for 30 min!Going to class helps if you seek an A on her test since there are answers she gives during lecture. Very easy class! Recommend just wished she would have taught at a faster pace
This teacher is really helpful, explains everything in common-sense terms, and puts her powerpoints online. However, the tests are a lot of recall and hence require a lot of studying, as well as probably attending class. Fairly easy A if you study and pay attention.
ask yourself: DO I WANT AN EASY A? if the answer is yes take her. gives ton of extra credit, open book online quizzes and 4 test which she gives you the exact pages of the book that are going and basically everything she marked in red in her slides are on the test!! SO EASY! honestly if you fail this class you are honestly beyond retarded.
Easy A. She gets really annoying in class when she randomly screams "WASSUP!" to people who are talking. Besides that the class is easy and the tests are easier than the online quizzes.
She is a nice professor if you do not interrupt her class. There are open book online quizzes that are challenging and 4 exams that are relatively easy if you attend class and study the pages that she instructs you to. She offers a lot of extra credit points that can greatly increase your grade in the class. I recommend her.
Very good teacher, pretty easy. Hates when you talk in class though. Online quizzes that you can use book with. Gives ton of extra credit chances. Best if you attend class cause she explains things that are not in the book and shows videos.
Easiest A I have ever earned. I never went to class, attendance wasn't mandatory. If you do all your research credits with the extra credit research. you will get an A in this class and you can do all the research surveys online.
Seriously the easiest class I've ever taken. If you want an easy A take her. Didn't attend the class most the semester and ended with an A.
This class is an easy A. Even though it's not mandatory, it helps to go to class because she shows videos and says what will be on the exam. Extra credit is available and there are open book online quizzes. I recommend her
She spends most of her time shushing an auditorium of 500 people. But the class seems harder than what it is. I scored an 80, 79 and 60 on her test and an average of 85 on quizzes. But because of her extra credit i got an A in the class. You don't have to go to class (you should) and as long as you do the extra credit you will be fine. I recommend.
Awesome teacher! There is never a teacher who made Psychology more easy to comprehend than her.
7 online quizzes, lowest two dropped. Three exams + final, lowest of the first three dropped. Gives **SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT**. Have to participate in research experiments for part of your grade. No papers/hw/nothing besides the 7 quizzes/4 exams. Uses iclicker, have to attend X amount of class sessions to get attendance grade.Recmnd to all myfriends
Lectures are a little boring but the class is easy. Make sure you read and study key concepts for exams. She gives online quizzes and drops 2 of your lowest scores, questions are directly from the book. Tons of extra credit opportunity; this helped me get an A in the class.
she's a fairly good teacher. her classes are boring and if you become a distraction, she WILL call you out (which i found incredibly annoying) and/or ask you and your friend to sit apart from each other. high school reminder anyone? book is ESSENTIAL if you want to pass. quizzes are online and exams in class. reviews and ppts are posted for you.
She's a fair teacher. Doesn't like laptop users or talkers in her class, which can be annoying. Just do all her extra credit stuff and make sure to read the book before each quiz and exam. You'll get an A.
Lectures are fun, drops two lowest quiz scores and lowest test grade. Extra credit raises your grade by one letter. Don't talk in class she will single you out and has ears like Supergirl.
Attendance isn't mandatory since she puts up all the slides from class on moodle, but she does give out test answers sometimes so it's recommended to go. Pretty easy class...online quizzes
Pretty straightforward class. She infuses, iclicker use, survey participation credits, quizzes (drops 2 lowest of 5), and exams (drops lowest of 3 PLUS final) all into your final grade. I highly recommend her if you plan on taking this class somewhat seriously. I got a C in my quizzes and exams and still received an A for the course.
She's easy. Just. Don't. Talk. Don't take this class with a pal, at least not at the same time. The online quizzes are easy, just give the book a glance. Give it a look before class too and answer something now and again, it keeps her spirits up and the class going smoother. Get the SONA stuff out of the way early so you don't stress about it.
Five online quizzes and four tests. Lowest test grade out of the first three is dropped. Overall, it's an easy class but you need caffeine to stay awake during her lectures. No laptops or cell phones allowed.
She is pretty nice and can be funny. The class is easy and you have plenty of assignments to be able to get a good grade. Just make sure you don't have any electronics because she will yell at you. She does not allow students to talk or else she makes a scene. The lecture is also very boring to attend and sometimes pointless. Try not to fall asleep
This class is easy as long as you do aplia assignments. Attendance isnt mandatory but youre more like to get a better grade on tests if you attend the lecture. Her voice is annoying and she makes scenes alot if you talk but she knows her stuff.
This class is pretty easy. Go to class and make sure you write down all the things she writes in red. Make sure you have friends in the class just incase she shows a video. She is extremely unprofessional. She treats students as if they were in High school…easy class but not worth having to listen to this lady IMHO
She couldn't be a more straight forward professor. Don't behave like a child and you wont get treated like one. Respect her and take notes. Her exam preparation is fool proof. She is clear and tells you exactly whats on the exam on her review. If you feel helpless, meet with her. You wont regret it. She demands respect, because she deserves it.
She likes to have side conversations and talks off topic sometimes. She has a bad attitude. You have to teach yourself in order to pass the 4 tests and the class. People only show up to her class to get I-clicker points. NOT for her lectures. She talks too fast and interrupts herself to scold students. TAKE ANOTHER PSYCHOLOGY TEACHER!!
Awesome prof!! Gives study guides and powerpoints are clear! Aplia assignments about every week. Do the SONA assignments ASAP! has EC! drops the lowest of 3 exams. Final is mandatory! uses iclicker for attendance! I really enjoyed her class. she makes it fun and interesting!
She is awesome, you only fail the class if you are lazy, she is super nice, especially when you contribute in the class. I got 90,93,96.
She's good. Take her, you just have to hear her rant to the students who are "talking" but other than that, she's good. cynical she is.
She is by far one of the best professor at FIU, she is clear, fair, and yes you need to read and study, but this is a great class, very interesting , and she works very hard so students can understand the material. DO NOT TEXT IN CLASS, SHE GETS VERY UPSET.
TAKE HER! She's awesome. She tries to make the lessons as simple and clear as possible. Makes the exams EXACTLY like the study guide. Gives extra credit. The only reason why I didn't get 100 in the class was because I never went to class so I missed points for the Iclicker questions.
This class is very difficult. The professor lectures very clearly off of her PowerPoint presentations, and she will most certainly answer any questions you may have. Many people complain because of the way she scolds her students. Basically, don't act like a fool in her class, and respect everyone by not disrupting. Then, you won't be scolded.
Gives you assignments to do online which are a big part of your grade but very easy to do. Puts reviews up for all exams and allows you to get up to 10 points doing corrections for exams. very easy class to pass. she can just get annoying with her scolding
This teacher gives you so many opportunities to get extra credit, there is no possible way anyone can fail her class unless they just don't do the work at all. The homework is easy and it actually helps you study. TAKE notes from the power points and you will get a good grade in her class.
This class is REALLY easy. She drops the lowest test grade for the first 3 exams. The Final exam is mandatory, everyone must take it and is taken into account in your grade. She gives hw, review sheets, xtra credit, and lets you make corrections on your tests. iCklicker used and serves as class participation. Dont talk while she is lecturing...
She is extremely mouthy and yells alot but the class is a really easy A if you do all the assignments and read what's assigned. She gives plenty of opportunities to bring your grade up so there really is no excuse for failing the course.
This class is VERY easy, however, don't talk or use tablets/laptops in class. She will yell into a mic and make you change seats if you disturb her lecture. Textbook is mandatory to do homework assignments. There's lots of extra credit offered! I>clicker is used every class. Overall, she's pretty cool.
DO NOT USE ELECTRONICS OR HAVE SIDE CONVOS or else you will be called out in the middle of class. Other than that she is a great prof. do all the learnsmart assignments and follow the test review word for word and you should get an A! she gives lots of extra-credit opportunities!
First thing you need to know about this class is to not bring your laptop/tablet and avoid talking or she'll scream LOUD. Besides that it's a fun and interesting class and she interacts a lot through Iclicker, which is calculated into your grade so attend class. Buy the book because homework comes from learnsmart assignments.
What's easy about this class, is that the she gives a lot of extra credit opportunity and allows corrections for the exams. I personally don't like her and found her yelling in the middle of the lecture extremely annoying, but as a professor she's really good and clear. Easy A but you do need to put some effort.
Easy class. Gives a lot of extra credit including test corrections. Although attendance is not mandatory, iClicker is 10% of your grade. She is clear about how she expects her students to behave.
Shpurik is what you call an average college professor. She seems interested in the subject, teaches big classes, tries to keep students motivated. If you do everything she asks including the extra credit you are bound to have an A. Study guides are a definite plus!Pet peeve of mine is when the teacher punishes everyone for one student, she does that.
Easy class, highly suggest her. Attendance isn't mandatory but iClicker is 10% of grade. She gives a lot of extra credit that will eventually by half your grade and the other half will be the exams. I barely studied and I passed with an A. Take her!
Shpurik is a mediocre professor. She posts the notes online but doesn't fill in the blanks which is no help. The homework is easy but the tests require lots of studying. She often stop class just to try and quiet down an auditorium full of people who don't care. I failed all of her tests, did the homework and still managed to get a B+.
Such an easy class! She is rude, no doubt about that but she gives so many opprotunities to get no less than a B in the class. Her study guides are directly related to the tests, I managed to get an A on all of them. She explains everything really well you just have to pay attention to the fill in the blanks&do the iclicker questions :)
She is immature and rude. Despite that, the class is pretty easy and simple to follow. You just need to go to class, takes some notes, and study a bit before the exams. Attendance isn't technically mandatory but she does count iClicker participation and include information on the exams spoken about in class that isn't on the textbook.
She's not an awful person, but in class she can get really annoying and childish. It can be quite funny though, especially if you're talking and she calls on you. She says "YO WASSUP" on occasion. As for the class, it's simple and easy. Read the book/do the learnsmart assignments and at least pay some attention in class. Don't forget your iClicker
Very clear, cute, and russian. Class is fun and if you attend regularly you should pass, no problem.
A lot of extra credit! I got a D in all her exams and still managed to pass the class with an A. Take her!!!
Great teacher, highly recommend. If you get a B in the class then you really aren't trying; it's an easy A. The material is very interesting, she has the class participate so lectures don't get so boring. There are 4 tests and she drops the lowest grade other than that, she give hw that takes a max of 20 mins but most of the time it only takes 5min
Dr. Shpurik is an amazing professor to take for intro to psych! There are 4 exams in total, she drops the lowest score. Her exams are based on the readings and her lectures. The hw consists of quizzes based on the readings (which is an awesome review for her exams), Learning Curves and ELAs through online BB. SONA Credits are required! Loved her!!
She's a great professor ! very easy but do not use electronics or talk during class she will call you out. There are four tests including the final and one is dropped. I got a D in all my exams including the final, did all the homework assignments, and extra credit and I got a B+!! take her !
She is a great professor !! Do the extra credit ! its easy and helps you a ton with final grades. I got a D in all four tests (including final), did all the homework assignments, with the extra credit i got a B+, take her.
Impossible to fail. Sweet teacher, she communicates with you a lot and class is not mandatory. Be ready to get LOTS of easy online homework. Plenty of extra credit. I got 2 Bs, a C and a D on her test yet I passed the class with a 99. TAKE HER!
I LOVED THIS PROFESSOR! She really engages you in class, she brings up really interesting topics & she's funny. There are a lot of online assignments BUT THEY ARE SO EASY JUST DO THEM! For the test, all you have to study is the studyguide she gives, its basically the test, (must read in book the parts of the study guide). I truly loved this class!!
HOMEWORK HOMEWORK HOMEWORK. Do them all and you are guaranteed at least a B. She gives ton of extra credit, and if you read the chapters you'll get Bs and As in the tests depending on how much you study. BUY THE BOOK! Going to class is optional, because she posts pwrpoints on blackboard and you can do the readings on your own. Overall good teacher!
Shpurik is one of the best professors I've had. Respect her and she'll return the favor. Lots of easy homeworks, most extra credit I've ever been offered in a class and 4 tests. With the hw & extra credit you could make C's on all the tests and pass. I got an A and learned a lot. She's funny and teaches concepts you'll remember. You won't regret it
Not clear grading criteria. Pretty much wont know your grade because it is never updated.
She doesn't teach. She's more into top hat than the actual class. You definitely have to teach yourself in this class. I was actually interested in taking this class because i thought it would be interesting and fun. But no I have had to teach myself to prepare for exams and quizzes. Good luck if you get her and psych is your major.
Doesnt teach. You'll have like 10 video quizzes a week on top of study modules and a test that is usually a day or 2 later. DONT TAKE HER! I like psych, but she made me hate it. Doesnt allow laptops in class, and class is mostly about TopHat opinionated questions. Grades are also NEVER updated. I had to drop what shouldve been an easy class.
Great professor! Lectures were not dull, the only bad thing is that this class is HUGE and when people talk it really disrupts the class.. Assigns some homework that is very quick to do.. Very knowledgable, passionate and funny. Would take again (in a smaller class preferably tho)
I don't understand how someone can get lower than an A. While lectures are so-so, the textbook is super clear. She provides a plethora of notes and even gives study guides for tests. Tests are a breeze. Study the study guide and I guarantee you'll get an A on them. HW is worth a lot but it's super easy. Lots of EC. 7 percentage points. Take her.
This is probably the easiest classes I have taken in my college career. But the catch comes when you are assigned multiple programs in which to attain your assignments through and although they are easy to accomplish with very little effort it can easily pile onto you if you aren't familiar with the program.
Shes funny and she knows what she's talking about. I wouldnt take the class again, but only because Im not huge on psychology. Expect a lot of homework, the tests are super easy if you use the study guides she posts. Many people dont like her but it's really cause they dont try in the class. Dont slack. You dont HAVE to go to class, but it helps.
The BEST professor at FIU. She's always there for you w and goes the extra mile to make sure you pass and you understand. Expect online work but it is fairly easy and it is helpful. She gives study guides before tests and doesn't pull any surprises. Attendance isn't mandatory but it is part of participation but you'll want to go to class. TAKE HER
Yes, the class is easy and you will pass but don't expect her to be there for you when you need help. She does not really care about the student even though she says she is. I wouldn't recommend her.
She was one of my favorite professors so far. She is super helpful & cares so much about students and you can tell she's passionate about teaching. She gives alot of homework that is time consuming but its overall easy work. The test are pretty straight forward, she gives extra credit. I would recommend going to class she leaves blanks on PP slides
Very easy class! She gives homework but very easy and helps your grade a lot. The only think I did not like was the fact that she focused on one topic for the whole 1 hr & 15 minutes, it got boring sometimes. Other than that I would totally recommend, you don't really have to go to class, topcoat can be done from home! JUST DO YOUR WORK!
Easy class she's just really annoying. She gets irritated very easily and stops her lecture even when people are whispering. Felt like I was back at high school every time she threatend to give more work. I never went to class and managed to pass with an A.
4 tests (drops the lowest) and mandatory cumulative final and gives reviews for all. I recommend buying the etext as it helps with the tons of online homework she gives. Uses tophat for participation and gives blanks on ppts during lectures needed to complete the study guides for tests. 4 SONA credits required and gives lots of extra credit.
she can be annoying at times but its literally the easiest class ever
UGH, twas very frustrating to be in this huge intro class, so I ended up not going alot of the times as I felt I learned more just reading the book and completing the many, many online assignments which were very helpful. She gets irritated at people who won't stfu. She means welll and tries, but you've gotta bear with it.
annoying, talks about something in class, homework is completely different, let's not talk about the tests. she teaches dumb stuff.
The class was super easy. Everything you needed to know was on MyPsychLab so you didn't even need to go to class often. She was funny and a very nice professor. As long as you do you work, you are guaranteed to pass.
Professor Shpurik was a good professor. She liked to "shush" people. It stressed me out because I couldn't even hear anyone talking and she'd tell people to "be quiet". Lectures are kinda long and I often got bored, but it's an easy class. Do the work she tells you to do, read the chapters, and go to class. If you do these things, you're golden.
She is very straight forward. Now her lectures are long and tedious. Most get lost after 15 minutes but thats why its essential to read. Now tests are easy IF YOU READ THE CHAPTERS! She gives very fair guides for the exams and if you study well, you should pass. THIS CLASS IS NOT FOR SLACKERS! IClicker quizzes every class so attendance mandatory.
Very fair teacher, easy tests, provides tons of resources, humorus and has great lectures.
She's very funny. Her class was my favorite. It's clear powerpoint based classes. You have online reading and video assignments and quizzes. She has quizzes of the material you're supposed to read about every class for a grade so you have to go to every class. Tests are quite easy if you read the material. She can't stand cellphones in class.
work all the time
Okay so I was told that Dr. Shpurik's class was horrible and all she did was rant about things that upset her, so I decided to find out what the hype was about and I took her class. The class is easy. She is super helpful and literally makes it rain extra credit. She cracks endless jokes. Definitely taking her again!
Fairly good teacher, she does give a ton of extra credit but can be a pain at times. Lectures tend to be very boring, and she does not round up grades! You'll be fine if you take her, it's just not preferable to take this class w her. Must go to class, not only for in class quizzes but some material will be on the tests too.
Defintely would recommend. Her study's guides are long but they literally cover everything that will be on the exams. I loved her and that class. She's enthusiastic and cares about her students. She offers plenty of extra credit. Her tests are incredibly easily if you're actually into psychology and complete all the study guides. I received an A :)
Unfortunately Rate My Professor has failed me this semester because it lead me to take this awful professor. You are treated like a child and spoken to as if you have zero competence. Your intelligence is constantly being undervalued as if you are in kindergarten and not at a university level. Save yourself the frustration and take someone else.
She is not only rude but aggressive. If you answer something wrong she laughs at you. Doesn't allow the use of electronics in class and is hard to keep up with her lectures. If she sees you using your phone she will threat you with taking it away. Her exams are long and worth almost nothing. It feels like middle school all over again.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She is the devil! okay, not the devil but very close. she is SO rude to her students, it's crazy. I'm shocked she is allowed to be a professor. She is so rude that even the LA's and TA's in her classroom don't like her. SAVE YOURSELF, find a different Psych teacher or...... I'd prefer community college over her.
She does get annoyed by talking and she does get sassy, but many times the students themselves are the ones being rude. She gives a study guide for each exam which covers everything you need to know, do them u never will get below an A. she does give out a lot of work but it's not even strenuous, its just for you to study more than you prob would
the good: The study guides are exactly what you will see on the test. the bad. I-clicker quizzes EVERYDAY PLUS regular quizzes every week, tons of reading, rude to students, grueling to sit through lectures. Easy A if you want to donate your life to her for a semester.
Hybrid class(only meets once a week, the rest online) She's very clear on the syllabus, sends constant emails to remind you about assignments or extra credit opportunities. Assignments on MyPsychLab, 3 cummulative exams, 1 final. STUDY GUIDES SHE CREATES HELP ALOT. No papers. Groupwork & iclicker questions every class, DO NOT miss class. Loved it!
Pretty half and half about this professor. If you do your work and make use of her study guides, you'll be good on the exams since the material will exactly be on there. Just do your part as a student. However, she's a bit annoying during her lectures, so you're gonna need some tolerance on that.
Very passionate. She makes it impossible to sit in her class and not learn. Extremely interactive class that makes it very interesting. She's strict and at first I wasn't too fond of that, but it's only because she has so much to give and needs undivided attention for the class to work. Probably the best professor I've had in my two years at FIU.
THIS WOMEN IS THE WORSE. SHE IS CONTROLLING AND TREATS THE CLASS LIKE KINDERGARNERS. SHE IS NOT HELPFUL AND SHE CHANGES THE STUDY GUIDE THE NIGHT BEORE AN EXAM. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU WANT TO PASS. IF YOU MISS CLASS SHE COUNTS IT AGAINST YOU. SHE TRIES MICROMANAGE. NO PHONES OR LAPTOPS . ICLICKER QUIZ EVERY CLASS AND ITS A HUGE PART OF GRADE.
easy professor if you study for the exams and do the homework. she responds to emails on a timely manner, and really cares about the students
Professor Shpurik requires her students to attend class, there are iclicker quiz's every class (easy, just review in class notes & textbook). Everything on the study guide is in the exam, so exams are easy but you have to study! She gives you the pages to read for the textbook (very few pgs). Pretty easy class but you have to work for the A!
She is very passionate, truly wants her students to learn. She applies the concepts from her lectures. It's a Memory class, Distractions is the number one enemy for memory, therefore no electronics allowed. And any "cognitive" psych class requires lots of deep processing and hard work. SO to me it was fair
She makes you work. She will leave you .02 % away from an A- because you missed a class/forgot your clicker/ she doesn't like you. The class is lots of memorization and she has a portion on her tests that is filling in, oh and if you misspell she counts it wrong. She has a lot of teachers pets. My first B in psychology degree. Don't take her.
Gives a quiz every class. Make sure you read all your notes and text book. She gets easily distracted and anything bothers her. If you enjoy being treated like you're in high school than this is the professor for you. Lost my interest in the class bc of her sarcasm too.
This is an easy course, if anything she babies the students too much. You can ace the class if you do your work. She cares about the students and put in a lot of time and effort. take her if you can
Attendance is not required, however there is an i-clicker quiz every class. She will email you want she wants you to go over for the quizzes. She doesn't make you read whole chapters, just certain pages from each chapter. You won't be tested on the pages she doesn't list. Her study guides are exactly like her exams.
Awesome professor. Really cares about her students and is passionate about the subject. Come to class and you'll pass with flying colors.
She is Crazy about phones, they are not allowed!other than that its easy. stick with the people at your table and you'll pass. gives a small quiz every class for attendance and easy worksheets. her class is sometimes boring but tries to make it interesting. She is very knowledgable and you will learn. sometimes talks to students as if in high school
This was a Hybrid class for me. So mainly all the learning is done alone at home and reinforced when she lectures in class. The worst part of her class was the 10 minutes she spent shushing everyone. Which was extremely annoying. The exams are replicas of her study guides, so study for that and you are set. DONT SKIP THIS CLASS. Hybrid or not.
The class was enjoyable. Topics of conversation were interesting and related to real life situations. Unless you are taking an online course, showing up is the best way to ensure a passing grade. There is also a quiz each time you come to class to get a participation grade. Her study guides are as clear as water!
The professor was really rude and unapproachable in and out of class. She would pause her lecture to repeatedly give dirty glares to people on phones and her i-clicker quizzes were given too much writing activities did not have clear grading guidelines. Best part was that her exams and study guide were identical. Get an A on her exams end with a B
Great professor, but the lectures can get kind of boring. There's an I-Clicker quiz with 10 questions every class and periodically there's online quizzes also. She gives EXTREMELY detailed study guides for her test though, which make it suuuuper easy. She doesn't allow for notes to be taken on laptops, or for cell phone use during class.
She is very sincere and might seem rude to some, but she is very honest and very to the point in what we need to do. I LOVED her class because you actually learn without realizing. With the weekly online assessments and Guiding questions, the information will stay with you and you'll barely need to study. GREAT TEACHER you actually LEARN.
I truly felt like out of all the classes Ive taken at FIU, I learned the most with Dr. Shpurik. There is a lot of work to be done which means get ready to read but you definitely learn a lot. She is an amazing professor and knows her stuff. Some people cant look pass how strict she is with phones. If youre addicted to your phone just stay home.
She is a caring professor and is always available if you come to her. Do all the homework she assigns and you will get an A. Do the study guides too. This is a hybrid class, so its heavy in terms of material/hw but easy and you learn a lot. She hates phone but of course you only meet once a week for 75 min and have a lot to cover. TAKE HER.
Honestly, she gave so much attitude to her students, one girl coughed and as she was like "do you need water" "do we need to take a moment to let the class clear their throats" she sipped her cup full of water. She made inappropriate jokes that weren't funny. I honestly don't know how she had kids.
I always go to rate my professor to help me decide which teachers to pick but it seems like once again it has failed me. This professor is absolutely ridiculous when it comes to her lectures. I do not understand why she has such an attitude to her students. We are college students not actual kids. I would not suggest her to anyone.
She's one of my favorite professors of the psychology department. She is very understanding but will call you out if you're not paying attention in class. Her material is interesting and open for discussion. Follow her study guides and read the main topics before class to pass the quizzes and tests. She makes her tests for people that attend class!
She is my absolute favorite professor ive had so far! Extremly easy class if you do the HW and the sudy guides. The tests are EXACLTY what she puts on the study guides and the study guides are based on the guided questions she gives as hw. So as long as you do what she assigns and review the study guides you will pass! she's nice and answers emails
She was not a bad teacher. As long as you go to her class and take notes you will be okay! Her powerpoint are very similar to her eras. You have 3 exams and a final. She also gives multiple online quizzes, that you can use the book for. Just study a little, come to class and you'll be okay!!!
There is an iclicker quiz EVERY SINGLE CLASS, so if you dont go you wont pass. She makes everything stick to your brain, so youll just need a little reviewing here and there. If you attend the class its an easy A. The exams do have open ended questions, it is not just multiple choice and final is cumulative (get ready to memorize material)
Don't take this class if you're looking to do minimal work. (You should want to actually learn anyway). She will make you work for your grade but she is an amazing professor. Reading the book and understanding the material is crucial for her daily i>clicker quizzes, weekly overview quizzes, tests and final.
Don't be late, iClicker is important, exams aren't too difficult, and remember to always go to her office and see what questions on the test you got wrong. Class is very interesting and she teaches well. She might seem a bit on the awkward side. Creative class environment. You will learn in this class but will have to work for the grade.
This is my second time taking her, and I loved the class. Study guides are given and it's literally the test. Lots of reading, and iclicker quizzes every class. Very fair, and there is no tricks.
She is awesome because she actually makes you want to learn and she really really wants you to learn. If you want to learn an interesting topic and actually try and come to class then she's perfect. She does i-clicker quizzes every class so don't be late and she won't let you be on your phone/computer. But great lecture.
This professor is good. There are quizzes every class but they are helpful in the long run. You will do well so long as you read what is necessary and study the study guides before each test.
I'm going to be truthfully honestly this professor is EXTREMELY rude, doesn't have accurate study guides, and is probably one of my worst professors since I have been at FIU. She HATES ANY electronics, quizzes EVERYDAY, tests are cumulative and she isn't helpful. NEVER FORGET your iclicker and be on time. These other reviews AREN'T accurate!!!
Dr. Shpurik is a great professor. I usually don't leave reviews unless i really love the professor. she gives 10 question i>clicker quizzes but emails you exactly what to review. exams are easy if you study, she gives identical reviews. She explains the material really well and gives clear examples. Loved her class!
I feel sooo bad for the people who listen to these good reviews. She is so rude and ridiculous when it comes to assignments. 10 min 10 question quiz and i clicker everyday she's psycho enjoy your next 4 months of hell if you take her
Her attitude is terrible, she'll make you work for your grade but it's still possible to get an A. You better hope you don't get caught with an electronic or she'll embarrass you in front of the whole class. Also, you will NEVER leave on time. She makes you stay after class every single class she really should be teaching highshool
She is awful. The class itself is not hard, but she is so rude and disrespectful. Makes snarky comments at students whenever they do/say something she doesn't like. Hates distractions but complains so much about little things that she ends up being the distraction most of the time. Boring lectures and just an all around mean teacher
This professor has little respect towards students. She belittles the class and constantly raises her voice. Professor Shpurik has the attitude of a highschool teacher. The class itself is simple, the exams are easy, and she provides extra credit. Basically I got a headache from her and not the class. There are Clicker quizzes every class.
This class was CAKE! I took her hybrid course. But beware that there are guiding questions due every class (aka once a week) and online homeworks. They are super easy and take no more than 20 min. Her tests are exactly what she gives on the study guide.
This is a hybrid course so we meet once a week and the rest of the assignments are online. Each week she assigned us learning curves and guiding questions. Each class started with a quiz and then worksheets after her lectures. Her study guides are just like her exams which are cumulative. Also, do not use cellphones or side talk she can be rude!
Dr. Shpurik is honestly one of the best professors I have ever taken at FIU. While lots of people found her humor weird, I found her humor was what actually helped people learn and remember the loads of information this class has. You work in groups all semester long so do yourself a favor and take her class!!
As a professor, she's a pretty solid choice, she's a really heavy course though, she did weekly hand written guided questions as well as online work, then in class she'd assign maybe up to 6 different group and individual assignments/quizzes. so yeah show up to class or fail.
I believe she is one of the best professors at FIU. If you pay attention in class and do the assignments it is a guarantee you will learn and enjoy the content of her class. I love this professor! Take her class!
Avoid her if you can. I don't know if she is having personal problems or what but on our last discussion post we noticed that she gave everyone horrible grades and pretty much put the same comment; that our summaries were incoherent, we missed application and our grammar was horrible. Not only were these comments rude but they were ill informed.
honestly worst teacher ive ever taken. she starts class on time and finishes class on time or minutes late. shes super disrespectful to all the students and if you have any electronics, be prepared to be embarrassed in front of everyone. if you dont show up, you wont pass I promise you. and she makes you calculate your own grade so ur clueless.
Listen honest truth the class is fairly ok. Content heavy but doable if you dont have more than three classes together. Now her, she is simply rude! she grades you like you not even supposed to be human. She is not a good teacher, hardly explains anything and has her TA do most of the work. teaching takes patient, this lady has none.
She gives a LOT of homework and her grading scale is very hard.
Dr. Shpurik is a great professor. She is very traditional (no phones, no laptops for note taking, only notebooks) yet makes the lectures fairly interesting and easy to understand. There are iclicker quizzes every class and takes attendance. She gives study guides for exams that are helpful too.
Easy class, she provides very specific study guides for every test, so as long as you fill them out with her ppts or textbook youll get an A. Its just her personality. Very strict about no technology and gives a lot of unnecessary attitude. She tries to connect with the class but apparently does so by calling people out and being plain rude.
If you want to feel like you're in high school all over again, take her. Her tests aren't hard but she's very particular with the writing portion of her tests. She has iClicker quizzes every single class so make sure you go. Overall, her personality annoys me.
do not take this lady. she's so rude. it is like she treats her students as if they were 10 years old. the tests are easy if you study and do the study guide. she gives quizzes every single class, so if you plan on skipping... good luck. Her attitude is horrible and literally insults students.
This professor covered the material clearly, but she taught her lectures way too fast, so good luck understanding what exactly is going to be on the test. She gave study guides, which was the only good thing about her class. She gave way too many clicker quizzes and she was rude. She was rude to all her students and was always arguing.
If you're hoping to pass, don't take this class. If you're the type to always want to be right with your opinion, don't take this class. If you don't like reading, don't take this class.
Dr. Shpurik is a great professor. Most of the people that complain just can't handle a college level course. You will have to work for your grade, but she provides extremely accurate study guides for each exam and she gives iClicker quizzes every class that help you prepare. If you pay attention in class and do the assignments, you will pass.
Best professor I've had at FIU. Make sure to go to class because there are iClicker quizzes every class but she always tell you which sections need to be read (not too bad). Explains the slides in detail and knows the material extremely well. Made the class a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. Exams are EXACTLY like the study guides.
Great teacher. Quizzes every class but they are easy. Tests are easy, her study guides are extremely helpful.
Shpurik is a great Professor. She cares about her students grades and ensures that everyone is equipped with the right information to get an A in her class. I maintained an A+ throughout the entire semester. Her guiding questions are the study guides so make sure you complete them every week. She gives study guides that are exactly like the exams.
She was an amazing teacher and really funny! Her class was really easy, I didnt study and passed every test with an "A". Overall great professor and easy class.
Dr. Shpurik is so nice. She is really helpful and a sweet person, she just likes when you listen to her as she literally has only 1hr in a week to let everyone understand a whole chapter of content in psychology. She makes everything so easy and explains well. In the middle of her lectures, you can stop her to ask for any clarification.
Strict, but smart. Online assignment and questions due each week before class, then post class online quiz due that week. Sit in groups and work together throughout class time(active learning environment). Extra credit opportunities: iclicker, attendance, sona and surveys. Very fun class. Book was about $60(online book and online software for hw)
Professor Shpurik was very nice and her work was not insanely overwhelming but made sure to get the concepts across
Her class is easy if you do the work. iclicker quizzes are done in class, every class, so if you miss, you will fail. Her exams are straightforward and easy. She also gives study guides that help a lot. She can be rude sometimes.
If you can, take this class with someone else. The class is super interesting and the teacher is nice but she is so EXTRA. Gives you a quiz EVERY class and grades you for every little thing. She even grades you for not using your phone. Its very annoying to be treated like a child at college level. Doesn't make the class enjoyable when it could be.
There's a quiz every class but they're super easy if you payed attention last class which you will cuz you're forced to not be on your phone. there's 3 tests and one final. attendance is mandatory because you get graded on in class participation and everythings based on her lectures. The material is very interesting. text book is free given by her
Professor Shpurik is great as a professor. You go to class to learn, but the way a professor is and acts can affect that. She can be very snappy and overdramatic for her own reasons. As for course, it is homework and assignment heavy but as long as you read and study, you will be fine. If you don't, you will easily fail. Exams are extremely simple.
Take her! Shes a great professor and as long as you do her study guides, inquisitive quizzes, and quizzes online. You will be fine. Her test are simple and understanding if you study. Its an easy A. Show up and do all the work and you will be fine.
Professor Shpurik is a great professor. There are quizzes every class but she tells you exactly what will be on it to study. She gives her own exam study guides anything on the exam is there. Attendance mandatory because she does do quizzes every class and i-clicker participation. Made the material easy to understand and interesting.
I wouldn't recommend Dr. Spurik. It's like she wants us to suffer. There's a quiz every class and 2 online weekly. 4 cumulative exams are. She intentionally removes important words from the ppts she posts, thus making it impossible to learn from them. She also makes you pay for an app that reports you if you are on your phone. She's also very rude.
Honestly her class is not hard but if you are looking for an easy class that you can be lazy then you wont pass her class. Her study guides are exactly like the test. Attendance is mandatory since you have to do iclicker quizzes as a participation grade and used as attendance. Just go to class.
She's accessible outside of class. She give iclicker quizzes at the beginning of each class. She isn't the best with remembering names so takes the time to really learn them but is really nice. She gives quizzes straight from the text and class notes, the exams (4) aren't that bad though. She gives extra credit. She puts forth effort to teach.
Do not take her!!!!!! She was very difficult and not lenient whatsoever!!! Very little space to make up the class. Save yourself!!!!
Grades on literally every little thing, even has you download an app (which you have to pay for) which keeps track if you are on your phone or not and are penalized if you don't use it. Quizzes EVERY class, gives incomplete powerpoints yet tells you to not take notes during class. Has attitude and is sarcastic for no reason. No leniency at all
Make sure to bring your iclicker there's daily iclicker quizzes. Very strict with phones. Sees a phone in sight and gets bothered and annoyed if it goes off. Class isn't difficult at all. Do not need to write down the slides, she tells you what to write.. If you can handle sitting through monotone voice take her class.
Not a very caring or kind professor. Very cold and lecture heavy. You must read the textbook to get ALL the information needed for her exams. Quizzes every class. You must study and 100% read the textbook. Powerpoints have blanks so you must always be listening, and she makes you buy an app for class to make sure you dont use your phone.
Worst professor at FIU. Save yourself the time and take the class with anyone else. She makes you buy an app for her class to make sure you don't go on your phone. Her lectures are long and boring and she doesn't do anything to make the class at least slightly enjoyable. I wouldn't take her again.
I took her memory class, and it started out okay, she was a bit rude and sarcastic, but the class seemed interesting. Throughout the semester she just got so snappy with people, her lectures are long and monotone also. Make sure you have an Iclicker because there are quizzes every single class. Participation matters so make sure you speak up!
She was sarcastic but it wasn't offensive. She only snapped at students that wouldn't put their phones away and would get calls in the middle of class. She does pre-class quizzes but a lot of the questions are repeated, so its easy if you've been paying attention. She has a few tests 50+ questions but provides study guides. I enjoyed her class.
The professor was SUPER boring. Long, slow, monotoned lectures AND playposits which is just added lectures cause she wasnt done talking. Her TA grades small in class activities as if it was an exam. Will find something wrong with anything. The professor isnt approachable outside of class and does not care to switch from ProctorU - control freak.
Took her online with zoom meetings once a week. Weekly quizzes, activities and group work assignments. Lectures are AMAZING; you learn everything you need to know from them. Lectures are enough to pass exams. Tests aren't heavy, multiple choice, and repeated Qs from class polls and quizzes. Plenty of work but it makes the tests so easy. Recommend!
I took this professor online and ever since the first meeting, I knew that she was going to be nearly impossible to stand. The content of the class is not too hard but there is a lot of reading and assignments due before each class. However, this professor is extremely rude to her students, does not care about our situations, and will go overtime.
Her class was pretty easy overall. The only thing is that she's kinda annoying and can be a real pain sometimes. I really loved the topics, but she would just get on my nerves at times. If you can handle that then this class will be an easy A. She's manageable.
This professor was awesome, i really enjoyed her class. He is a bit rude to students but he knows her stuff and the content is not tough. There are points for participation every class and quizes every chapter (straight from the book) and 3 exams, if you study the study guide you'll be more than fine. She also offers extra credit. Easy A.
Not accessible outside of class - barely returns emails. Doesnt accommodate to students circumstances especially with Zoom. She was disrespectful towards the younger classes. Makes you feel stupid for asking questions. Has good study guides. Long lectures. If you dont want to be irritated, then pass. She gives rants as if we were HS students.
She's very knowledgeable. Is her class easy? Big NO. There's a lot of hw, activities, weekly quizzes, and 3 proctor exams. However, she is very good at teaching, meaning that you're learning without realizing it. Put some effort, attend to class, and you'll be fine.
Dont take this professor. She is so rude. You can ask her a simple question and shell roll her eyes and answer making you feel dumb for your question. Everyone in my class hated her. She grades tough and wants everything done so perfectly.
Professor Shpurik's class is consistent throughout the whole remote semester. There's a weekly online assignment and about 3-4 exams that had either an in-person option or a $15 per exam online option. Frankly, the only real issue with this professor is her tone. She can come off rather sharp-tongued but if you're patient, class is fairly simple.
She is such an amazing and knowledgeable person. The class is a workload but it's interesting and the class structure actually makes you REMEMBER what you learned. She is a hell of a professor!!!
Would HIGHLY recommend someone to take a class with her. Any other negative ratings are from students who don't do their work, or are not prepared. As long as you read th textbook before class, you will be set up for success. Her exams are easy and she gives study guides that are 100% representative of the exams. Overall, an AMAZING professor!
I would NOT recommend taking her for this course or any. She has people in the WhatsApp group chat and if you share answers in the group chat she will fail you. She is very rude and gets mad if you talk during her lecture. A proctored midterm and Final.
Dr Shpurik is a great professor, is quite fast lecturer but still easy to understand. Tests are very fair and easy to pass if you are reading the chapters. Loved this class, she is serious but very kind, looking forward to taking more classes with her.
There is a quiz every class and she wont let you make up the ones you miss. You have to study in order to pass her tests otherwise say goodbye cause she doesnt curve anything. she is an alright prof. But if I knew how she didnt care to curve my 89% I wouldnt have taken her. Just dont take her if you want a chill semester without stress. Goodluck.
I know there are a lot of negative comments about this professor, but at least she tries to teach the material and is passionate about it. Theres an iClicker quiz at the beginning of every class about the weekly connect assignment, participation iClicker quizzes, and notes in between as well as little writing activities. Super easy class
Absolutely loved her class. To those who complained, they obviously did not put in the effort/work. Class material is very interesting. Read the textbook and do the playposits and youll do great. Tests were easy. Complete the study guides. Shes a great person really liked this class.
All the negative comments are probably just lazy students who did not want to do the actual work and expected an easy A. Professor Shpurik is amazing and she can have a little attitude at times but its only because she really wants everyone to pay attention. Great professor if you want to LEARN. I learned so much in this class its my favorite!
Lectures are very direct and easy to understand, theres mini quizzes every class but they arent heavy on the grade and theyre honestly really easy if you just pay attention in class. Theres no reason to fail this class honestly shes very prepared and understanding. amazing professor!!!
I'm extremely picky with teachers but I genuinely don't understand the bad reviews about her. She is one of the best professors I've ever had. She knows the material really well + is extremely good at relaying it. She makes the material fun to learn and incorporates jokes. You have to TRY to fail this class or not try at all. Pop quizzes are easy.
Easy A. If you pay attention to the lectures, minimum studying is required to ace the tests. Participation is with iclicker so no need to raise your hand and ask questions. Hw is super easy and answers can be found on quizlet.
The class was an Easy A. If you do the study guides you will pass the exams. Easy IClicker tests in the beginning of class that aren't heavily weighted. Participation is done through IClickers. She has a lot of attitude, but it's easy to ignore.
The class itself is laidback and easy going. Three exams and weekly connect hw assignments online. A few in class assignments and iclicker quizzes. Professor Shpurik is an ok professor and I say that because she has her moments where she can a bit rude.
I dont understand the hate this professor revived throughout the course. All she ever did was live her life and be cranky and everyone had to lose their minds over it. Some of you need to practice attributional charity! But overall an interesting class and I really like the structure in which she explains stuff which made tests easy to study for.
Dr. Shpurik is amazing!! Used InQuizitive for the textbook and homework. Easy to understand lectures and a quiz every class that easy if you read the chapter. Don’t know why people are saying she’s too political, she just gives easy to understand real world examples. Great professor and would definitely take her again.
Good professor but really long and low-key annoying lectures (rants about modern political events.) Hands out study guides for all tests but you NEED to study to pass! Also has weekly canvas and kritik assignments which are annoying too but overall average class
Honestly, this was an annoying course overall. This professor structured her class as if it was a high school course. Her quizzes weren't helpful at all. I didn't learn anything in her class because she wasn't thorough with the lectures. She uses iclickers every class as participation and quiz. All exams are in person on paper.
AMAZING. Gives weekly Inquizative assignments which help you understand what she is teaching. she also gives quizzes each class that are based off what you learn in the inquisitive & she provides a guide before each class which tells you what to know for the quiz. she' a great professor. anyone who says they didnt learn anything was lazy!
Quizzes are given every single class and you have to study with the study guide she gives or else you will not pass. The quizzes take up a lot of time and are not helpful. Personally I feel like I don't learn anything in class, she repeats a lot of things that we went over the class before and not new material.
This was the worst class ever! I wouldn't recommend taking her class. You won't learn anything in her course and her grading is ridiculous. She doesn't even allow you to see how well you're doing in the class. Also you can't make anything up or try to improve yourself. She has these weekly quizzes that are not helpful and set you up to fail.
I took this class & SOP3004 spring semester 2022 in person at FIU I-75. Attendance not mandatory, but there was a graded 15 question quiz every class. 3 exams, all in person. No papers. Easy online assignments, once a week. Offers extra credit. Put in the effort and you shouldn't get anything lower than a B. Awesome professor, caring and dedicated!
Super passive aggressive towards students
She's a nice professor but will occasionally have unclear assignments and vague explanations for projects. Overall wasn't too hard.
She was literally amazing! The work is just bookwork from mcgraw hill which is done by participation yet rlly helps you for the exam so pay attention! You have iclicker quizzes every class, yet are very durable if you go to class/ do the mcgraw connects. She was very kind and was very easy to communicate. Take her you won't regret it!
But she is truly an amazing Professor. She provides you with the textbook and the information for the quizzes and exams. Her class really isn't hard, she's a human and yes sometimes she does get annoyed if someone walks in 20 mins late and interrupts her lecture to ask for an iclicker.
She has an iclicker quiz almost every class, if you study the concepts she posts before the quiz, you'll be fine. She does get annoyed if you don't have an iclicker or ran out of batteries so make sure you're prepared. Exams are even easier than the quizzes.
It was mostly about doing the assignments. If you did them and took the time to review and do the studying guides for exams you'll succeed. There were three exams including the final ( each cumulative). Attendance and participation are mandatory and must be on time to do pop quizzes and participation. It felt like a Highschool class but effective.
Quiz each class w/iclicker, 30sec per question about 15 questions. Always study what she says will be on the quiz and what you were taught before just in case. Some playposits and some very small assignments. Exams were easy w/the study guide, but the quizzes were a bit stressful because of the short time you have to read and remember the answer.
The lessons that she teaches is very difficult but very informative.
There is an iClicker quiz every class based on information from the previous class and topics that the professor says to review in announcements. If you take notes on lectures and do all of the homework assignments the iClickers are more likely to boost your grade, along with participation questions.
Very passive aggressive, she will yell at you like if you were in a high school class. Quiz every other class. Overall, not that bad of a class. Just not very nice.
Not bad. Sort of a high school style class. She gets upset when people talk and raises her voice but overall not hard to pass, just have to read over ur notes. Showing up to class helps with understanding material and getting participation points. Quiz every other class. Nice lady, just a little passive sometimes.
Not bad, is accessible. One thing I didnt like was she didn't let us see our grades until way after the semester started. Easy material if u study
I will not lie, she takes FOREVER to grade. Its finals week and an assignment we did from the first week has not been graded yet. She can be passive aggressive to her students. Her lectures are good and will have you invested. The material is interesting and very easy to learn though.
She is very passive aggressive if you forget your iclicker or ask for further explanation. The classes consisted of playposists outside of class + reading. No lecture or in-class learning. She will give a quizz almost every class and then just spend most of the class talking about the quizz questions. She takes forever to grade as well.
Very passive-aggressive, no phones or laptops allowed in class. Quiz EVERY week no matter what. Exams are 60+ questions .
Love love love ze class! She is an amazing professor will highly recommend for everyone to take her class!
I did this class by accident but I ended up loving this class so much. Professor Maria is amazing ,and she explains the material very well. The only thing I would recommend is do not skip her classes and complete all the work assigned.
Expect tricky quizzes, frequent I-clicker use for attendance, homework sometimes off-topic. Lectures heavy on opinions. Exams are long. She is passive-aggressive. You will learn her her political views. Slow grading, grades were hidden. Interesting material but teaching diminishes enthusiasm. Many students struggle, questioning positive reviews.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She grades things extremely last minute. Always behind on grades. Every class pop quiz ( heavily weighted). You teach yourself everything you learn, lectures don't teach you anything . She's passive aggressive! Never been more stressed out at an elective class than this one. Positive reviews are questionable! DO NOT TAKE
Honestly IDK how her RMP score is so high? I'm an A/B student and not lazy and her teaching and grading style is super messy and unorganized. There's TRICKY, badly worded quizzes every single class, her HW/Asgnmnts due dates are unpredictable and not consistent, it takes her 5+ days to respond to an email, is passive aggressive, and a v late grader
WHO RATED HER A FIVE? Every class you have a quiz, she does not teach in person she has playposits you watch at home and your class quiz is on those, and so it your exams. The material is not bad, just not much teaching. Would not take again.
does a lot of pop quizzes so make sure you are there for class. sometimes can get a bit rude with students but still just a nice interesting lady. no papers, just online assignments and 2-3 tests
Professor Maria can be a bit quirky, but her lectures are engaging. Expect frequent quizzes and exams, so staying on top of the material is key. The workload is manageable, and unstuckstudy ai proved helpful for study prep.
I have no idea why her rating is so high! She teaches SOCIAL PYSCH using her own political views. Passive Aggressive Only gives you 40 seconds per question on quizzes. Grades are locked The syllabus isn't accurate Assignments are tedious Makes lectures un-understandable Find a professor who doesn't take attendance THREE TIMES in one class.
Currently taking, but had to write this to give you the chance to AVOID her course(s). Every class consists of a quiz (on your phone). No laptops allowed. She overloads you with material you're expected to somehow memorize. You cannot see your overall class grade until the end of the course which is very misleading. Syllabus is inaccurate. 0/10.
Warning .. she's rude , condescending, passive aggressive and seems like she really dislikes her job.. always angry .. and genuinely just not a kind individual . Good luck with her class it's very hard to thrive in such a hostile environment.
Prepare to be forced to switch your pronouns and have to be called a “ ze “ as in for she and he .. also it says ze in every exam so the questions can be very confusing … when you're trying to read it , she also calls you a ze whilst referring to a girl or boy during class .. very odd also very rude , and quiz heavy.
She is a terrible TERRIBLE teacher. Her lectures are basically tangents that do not make sense. Every class she makes you take a quiz that is heavily graded. In addition, she doesn't offer extra credit. I am taking an elective with her right now, and it's difficult for an elective. I would prefer for our grade to only be the exams and playposits.
Do not take this professor if you want a midterm + final + final project, there's like 3 hws (playposit, quiz, writing assignment) every week + assigned reading for the the upcoming quiz, gets upset if you're on your laptop during class and/or don't participate and don't check your phone outside of tophat. Thought she was great at first too.
Super tough professor with a major lack of empathy. Not worth the risk, a quiz EVERY class. A 75 question mid term + 100 question final + Final project. She's very bland, no type of emotion or excitement in her lectures. In all seriousness, if there is another option please find another professor.
Mediocre at best. A shame because the class subject was very interesting IMO but she never really taught or lectured. A decent chunk of time every class was her struggling with technology and going over quiz questions. Essentially you have to self-teach. She is accessible but be aware there is a short quiz every class.
Wouldnt take this professor again. Shes passive agressive, has a quiz everyday & does the grading late. You never know what your grade in the class is until the very end. She's rude, she makes comments if you make a mistake in front of the class and will call you out. 80 questions midterm - Final project AND 100 question final.
I loved this class! Honestly I think people give her a bad rep because they don't want to put in effort to actually learn and engage with her, or just disrespectful, but she truly loves what she teaches! Do recommend to proof read before class to do good on the quizzes but she gives lots of room to grow!
Please do not take her class. I repeat!
this prof is extremely snippy and passive aggressive. treats her students like they're back in middle school. class is not hard to pass, however grade is heavily reliant on weekly quizzes using Tophat (an app that uses geolocation). attendance is MANDATORY, everything is graded at the last minute and grade is locked on canvas until mid semester.
Lecture heavy. There is a quiz EVERY class if miss one day, miss a quiz no makeups so attendance is mandatory. Long midterm long final+ a final project. Not hard but lots of information you kinda have to teach yourself if you cant learn by lectures the weekly quizzes dont help your grade. Playposit and quiz every week. Shes nice though.
She was a great teacher. I took her for summer a so the class was three hours long so she had a lecture a lot. We had a quiz every class, but homework was mainly just playposits. She was very interactive so it didn't make the class boring. she put so many grades in that it was hard to do bad.
Professor Shpurik is extreamly unforgiving when it comes to anything. She calls out and ridicules students in front of the entire class. If you don't understand something don't bother asking because she won't help. I would not recommend taking her especially if you're juggling a lot on you plate.
She is an amazing professor that obviously has a passion for teaching, very engaging and cares a lot.
An amazing professor that obviously loves her job and is very caring.
Class is very easy if u pay attention. But don't take her. She's annoying. As hell. Avoid her. Please. Super passive aggressive. And rude.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Dont understand her bad reviews. If you shut up and pay attention in the lectures, you should pass with flying colors. She's rude when students disrupt the lecture or when she can tell you were not paying attention. It's not hard to be quiet. Also tests are super easy if you paid attention. Good lecturer.
She says attendance isn't mandatory, but does a graded assignment nearly every class that you have to be in person to get the code for and the app uses your location. She acts nice, but also treats you like you're unintelligent if you don't give the exact answer she wants even when she asks subjective questions. Makes things harder than needed.
The class was unnecessarily stressful despite easy material. The professor was unhelpful, grades and exams felt unfair, and constant timed quizzes and low-value assignments made the course frustrating and disorganized. Grades could not be checked till after midterm. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
The class is disorganized, with frequent quizzes and extra credit that has little impact on the final grade. Assignments are lengthy but worth minimal points, and grading is very rigid. Opportunities to ask questions feel limited, and exam expectations were communicated in a way that increased stress rather than supporting learning.
If you seriously value your time, effort and mental health please do NOT take this professor, it's not worth it. She is really a difficult person and she will humiliates you when you don't know the answers.
Disorganized and unhelpful. Grades were hidden until after the droping period, making it impossible to track progress.Exams were unfair and poorly written. Every class included participation activities and a Top Hat quiz with about 20 questions and only a minutes to complete. Extra credit had no impact on the grades.
I took her in summer A this year, 3.5 hour long class btw. She's passionate about what she teaches but lectures a lot and kinda runs her class like it's high school (no phones/laptops allowed). However, she had a lot of interactive activities for us to do which kept the class more interesting and engaging. I also really enjoyed the course material.
