She cant write clearly on the board, or explain the material. She posted study materials for midterm at 9pm the night before the test, which itself had errors allover it; she even started the test late. One of the worst I have ever had.

makes everything confusing. notes r filled with mistakes. expects everything to be easy for us. very slow on returning hw (7th wk & still havent gotten hw1 back). practice midterm posted a day bf the test. lectures r useless. too paranoid about cheating. though good intentions, ive learned nothing
She is very nice if you actually approach her. Once you get pass her accent, her lectures are actually quite useful. Tests are not too bad.
im sure shes nice, but shes a terrible teacher and her lectures have no point and are so unorganized and confusing that they are hard to follow and comprehend.i dont know what class u are going to but its not the same that i am. i guess the test was so easy that the avg was 59. this lady is a joke.
Midterm was awfully difficult; average was 61 (which she curved to a B-). Final was easier, probably because she feared a similar curve. Moderate accent that's sometimes hard to understand. She makes homework assignments and practice tests that are VERY similar to the exams, which is quite helpful.
quite possibly the worst teacher in the world. wouldn't trust her teaching multiplication to third graders. do not take this professor. everything i learned was from the TA the night before the test. if you take this prof, pray for a good TA. you'll need it.
Are you crazy fool? That final was WAY harder than the midterm! And we didn't even learn half of the stuff on it! It wasn't in the book, that's for sure! Candido is the WORST TEACHER EVER. And the guy who said the final was easier than the midterm and gave her a smiley face should be slapped!
lecture's boring and not helpful.
Said she was pregnant so she taught the class bad, I dont think it was the baby's fault.
easily worst econ professor ive had at UCSD. Still got an A-. but first midterm was terribly difficult (got a 68.5/100=B+, a joke). I dont like how professors assume that when the class does poorly, that means the class is dumb. I notice that in other classes, kids still manage to understandmaterial
Nothing made sense at all. Tests were impossible. She is nice and tries, but some people just can't teach.
She gives you what you need to study for in the test, but the test is not as straight forward. It contains problems similar to the past exams, but the midterm was hard and didn't have enough time to finish it. I like her notes though, they were pretty organized. Overall, she is ok.
after seeing all the harsh comments people had for her i really wanted to think of at least something nice to say...i've been sitting here 10 minutes and couldn't think of anything...absolutely terrible:screws up examples, gets lost in her own notes, midterm was way too long, forced group homework
I think she is a good professor overall. The lecture is very easy to understand. She makes very nice graphs. Her midterm was long, and I didnt have enough time to finish it.
Easy, unless you have difficulty with addition and following directions, then I could see how it could be a real challenge.
She is having my baby! j/k, she is avery nice person and definetly knows the material well. she will provide you with enough info to do well in the exams. the T.A is a dick. some people were having a hard time understanding her accent. i will take her again
midterm kinda long, but otherwise easy class with a helpful teacher, no suprises on anything that was graded
Everything was very straightforward. Yes, the first midterm was a bit long, but the finally was quite simple. She is a very nice professor and tries her best to help everyone. She would not be my first choice for a professor, but I wouldn't exactly run from her either.

The professor is nice but the tests were ****ing hard!!!
Midterms were a bit long, but I personally thought she was a really good professor. Kept lectures relatively interesting. The accent didn't bother me much. just make sure you do her practice tests
Accent that was impossible to understand if you sat more than three rows up in the lecture hall. Would get distracted and forget where she was in lecture. Used long laborious examples in class that were hard to keep up with.
Candido is really helpful, mainly because this was her first time teaching the course. The material is relatively easy and you'll barely need to study if you go to class and take good notes.
She is a little hard to understand and writes kinda small but overall not that hard. Tests are easy enough if you go to class and do the reading.
Really hard....final war waaaaaaaaaaaaaackkkkk..
awful
She's a very nice lady. Explains things in great detail. But hard to really pay attetion to her lecture. The tests are too long. Course material is very easy, but difficult to score high in class in general.
She is honestly really nice and if you ask her she is pretty helpful. The only problems are that her tests get gradually harder (the final sucked) and her accent is extremely hard to understand. I definately struggled to understand simple phrases which sounded like something completely different. To put it smply, she is better than Famulari, but me
Seemed flustered in class. Very Unclear, didn't know how to communicate her knowledge to students.
Tries hard but at times is unintelligible. Occasionally has a cool story to throw in. She's not the best but her teaching skills wouldn't prevent me from taking her again.
She's so cute and very fashionable. She's a good professor, but I think she takes on too much. She always seems rushed and scatterbrained sometimes. Overall, good professor and good class.
She's very nice and helpful. I'm astonished at the bad ratings, because her tests are very straight forward and if you do the homework, it's an easy A. If you are confused, go to her office hours as she is very nice and explains things very clearly.
she has a thick accent so its hard to understand what she says and she cant explain herself that well. she writes too small on the board and you can easily get lost in her class....
The professor is really nice, she tries her best to get to student to understand the material, she goes over everything in class, so if you attend class, you will never have to look at the book basically, she does however have a accent which makes it a bit hard to understand, but its not terrible, she also writes small, so sit close to the front.
She does have an accent, and there is no struggle to understand her. Her midterm is representative of the material that she teaches. She actually cares about the student, and will negotiate w/ the class for extra credit. I highly recommend this prof.. This class is easy. For one, I have attended about 5 lectures and received an A- on the midterm.
She is really helpful if you ask her for help, but she isnt very clear. Her accent is extremely difficult to understand and her exams, though representative of course material, were still hard. Her lecture style is unique as she only really gives examples and rarely gives the fundamentals behind the problems. Overall, Meh...
I understood her lectures and the material in the book completely but didn’t do so well on tests so the things you will see on the tests will be different from what is discussed. The material was interesting and the computer work was a great way to learn but expect the unexpected on tests.
This class is pretty easy. She explains the material at a much simpler level than other professors. Her midterms are pretty much like the practice, except for usually one or two questions that come out of nowhere. She doesn't answer emails though, so make sure you catch her before or after class. I'd recommend her as a professor.
This professor is very helpful for those of us who do not mind participating in lecture. If you prefer taking a passive role in class, be sure to get your questions answered in her office hours, which are very helpful. Her tests are very straightforward; you must study..
This professor is just blah. I almost never went to class because we reviewed 120A for the first 5 weeks and then barely got to any material for the class. She isn't intimidating and has low expectations of her students, so she's approachable. The tests are basically like the homework, go to class because while she isn't good, the book is worse.
Professor Candido is straightforward. If you do her practice problems, understand the book, and do homework carefully, there should be few surprises, unless econ just isn't your thing. She made her exams shorter this quarter, when we switched textbooks. Recommended; she especially likes teaching ECON2 and does it fairly well. But you have to study.
Prof. Candido is the best prof. I've had here and not because of her lectures, but bc of her approachability. She skips lunch to answer questions and has no qualms about it. Her problem sets are reflective of the tests and if you go to class she is talkative and responsive. It was my third quarter w/her, and I recommend her for econ2, 120a and 120b
don't have to attend class. You won't understand what she's saying in the lecture. Lazy professor. Very slow reply on my email. went to see her office hr, but she never be there.
Lectures are easy. Maria has low expectations of her students. ASK QUESTIONS AND GET TO KNOW HER... it got me my A+
Shes a great teacher. very straightforward. Study her lecture notes and do problem sets and you will be fine. She is very nice in office hours. I got an A for both econ 120 a and econ 120b.
One of the best professors at UCSD
lectures are painfully boring, sometimes hard to understand through her accent. although i do admit that she's a really nice person and will definitely try to help you if you ask any questions.
she is very boring!! its so sad tat wen she asks question in class, no body answers her cuz no one pays attention...shes writes very little, so sit in the front. her midterms are okay, but the way she words her questions are kind of hard to understand, the class is pretty easy, but the final is kind of hard..
Awesome teacher. Lectures extremely slowly and makes sure the class understands before she moves in. Easy class, Take it shes awesome.
She's alright. Sometimes a little bit funny but what throws people off is her accent and the fact that she's confusing in lecturing. Both midterms were easy but she got encouraged by this and made the final super hard. That solved the problem. Class average on final was a C and class overall was a B. I mean, come on!
Lectures were really boring, midterms were not bad, but the final was really hard. She has an accent which makes it hard to understand what is going on in class. She also writes really small which is really makes it even harder to know whats going on. If you read the book and do the practice problems you don't even need to go to lecture.
Her lectures were sometimes pointless and boring but the class is pretty easy. Tests weren't that bad and discussions weren't needed.
Class was quite boring but useful. Midterms were fairly easy but final was hard. Don't really have to attend discussion.
Very nice and willing to help you during office hours; get to know her! If you attend lecture, do all the practice problems, and read the textbook you will pass the class with a good grade. If Aren is holding the discussion section, definitely go!
This prof has very good intentions and cares enough about her students. Her accent isn't bad at all. Her lectures and class are very cohesive. You remember everything and she makes everything tie in together nicely. Only had to take 1-2 days before exams to study.
She is a nice and patience professor. Her accent is just alittle bit bad, but just listen to her carefully her lecture is very helpful with understanding the material.Test is not extreme hard but you have to really study for it.
She is a fair, nice and responsible teacher. Do all of the problem sets and textbook questions then you will be fine. However, curve isn't that lenient, if you get below average, you cannot end up with B or above.
She is a great professor and really cares about her students. The tests can be hard sometimes but she always has a fair curve.
She is the cutest professor ever! Very helpful and genuinely cares about us learning. You don't need the book, just go to lecture and take notes and you'll be fine. Midterms were ok, final was a bit hard but I'm hoping the curve will help me.
Lectures are basically solving problems, and the exams are these problems plus a few multiple choice. Homework is Aplia, which is tricky, but it won't kill your grade. Curve isn't that generous but if you know your stuff you can still do well.
She is a really helpful prof. Although she has Portuguese accent, its easy to get used to, and its not difficult to understand her. I have taken her for a couple of courses now, and I definitely recommend her! I love her style of lecturing, it makes it easy to take notes. I also love her style of grading. there's 2options and you can drop a midterm
very easy class. Go to lecture and take good notes and you will never have to read the textbook. Her lectures are very clear and will tell you all you need to know for exams. The midterm and final were very very similar to the practice ones so do them and you will get a good grade for sure!!
She teaches well
Took her for 120C and 110B. She's a very clear lecturer who explains concepts very well. She doesn't try to trick you on tests (though her multiple choice can be a bit tricky) and her testing and grading styles are very straightforward. I would recommend her over many of the other econ professors.
Professor Candido is without a doubt, the best professor I have ever had at UCSD. She actually cares so much about her students' learning, which is extremely rare in the econ department. Her tests are always fair (but her multiple choice has always been killer). I have taken her for 120B, 120C, and 110B and she has consistently been amazing!!
She is awesome!! So easy. Got an A+ and never went to class. Just do the practice problems and your set for the midterms. I love her.
Class can get very slow at times, so slow that you hear shuffling a few minutes before class ends. However, Candido is extremely sweet and very approachable. Not a difficult class if you put in some effort. Gives lots of materials (old exams, chapter reviews) that you can use to study. If you do them (which most people dont) you can easily get an A
Extremely kind professor. Very understanding and easy to talk to. One prob with her class is that her exams tend to be very lengthy. I suggest not thinking too much and answerings the questions as quickly as you can.
Ive taken Candido for Econ 120 series & 110B. She is a very nice professor & caring about her students, but she is very hard to follow in class. She posts midterms are really hard to understand. She speaks with an accent, and she is very picky about her answers. I didn't have a choice but if I did would have definitely pass on her.

She speaks with an accent, and she is very picky about her answers. I didn't have a choice but if I did would have definitely pass on her.
Im a straight A student but in Candido's class somehow ended up with a C. She's not very clear in what she expects from her students. She is very nice but talks with an accent which is very difficult to follow.
Practice exams represent the midterm and final, but the multiple choice section is very tricky.
Professor Candido showed a lot of heart when she was giving her lectures or explaining the course concepts in her office hours. In my opinion, that was a very laudable teaching quality. So I recommend her.
Went to every lecture, did every homework, practice midterm, final, got an A. Material is pretty straightforward once you get exposed to enough of it (patterns everywhere). Candido lays things out well in lecture, tests are basically same as practice (with a few small twists, of course), and she's really nice.
She cares about her students and seems like a genuinely nice person but she is not that great of a teacher. Her lectures lack real life examples with actual numbers to connect to, and she lays out the material in an overly complex way. I have been to every lecture and have done all the homework and have basically learned everything from the book.
She is a nice teacher but she really needs to prepare more for her lecture. At least on how to explain thing.I have lots of professors with accent at UCSD but i never had too much trouble understanding them. But her accent+ her low quality explanations make the class boring and she mumbled a lot.Hmmm, ahhhh, ehhhhh let me think how to ... and so on!
Good Professor. Everyone else rating her doesn't know what they are talking about. Her exams are all fair. I have had her for 110B, 120B, and I am taking 120C with her. All I needed for the tests were lecture notes. Didn't use the book once.
I had this professor first for 120A and she really gave me a better understanding of probability. 110B, her explanations were not as clear, but she was always more than willing to help in office hours. Very nice, and a fairly good test writer as well, not too hard, not to easy. Probably just needs to work on organizing her lecture better.
I love this professor. I took her 120A. I missed half quarter's lecture and even didn't understand many concepts and caculations on the night before the final, but the practice midterm and final really saved me every time. How the practice exam was like, how the real exam was. Luckily I got an A and alost got an A+.
This class is not difficult, it's just basic stats. Do the problem sets and practice exams and you'll get an A.
She is an awesome professor! She is always prepared in class and is more than willing to answer questions after class! Actually focus in class, take notes well, do the problem sets and get questions answered early, and you'll do well!
I took 120A with her and now taking 110A with her. She was better in 120A. Her lectures in 110A are confusing, although she did mention it was her first time teaching the class. Notes are unorganized and not really helpful, gets lost in her own notes. "Eh, let me think how to do this, etc." Guess I will be learning from the book this quarter.
WORST class. Do not take her if you can. She made macroecon WAY harder than it needs to be. Tests were extremely long and tiring, lectures were unclear and confusing, she would assign homeworks every week that were last minute and almost always had some type of error on TED. Unwilling to help students and you'll teach the course to yourself.
Make sure to supplement lecture with the book! If you read the book, you don't even have to go to lecture since her lecture (even examples) come from the book. She offers a lot of practice problems, homework, and practice exams that help TREMENDOUSLY. Exams are basically the same thing! Great prof and super nice!
She presents the material well and gives examples that she will use on the tests (but just a bit different) and her homework was fairly easy. The multiple choice portions of her tests were similar to the HW too. The book isn't really necessary, but comes in handy when you can't google something right away. Oh, and do the sample tests
The class was a drag to go to because she would explain the concepts, but wouldn't contextualize the concepts with real numbers and examples. I don't even understand how I would be able to apply what I would learn in class to the practice problemsexams. Econtutor is a must for this class if you want to understand this class. (heavy accent)
Extremely nice professor and will go above and beyond to help you during office hours. The lectures can be kind of confusing because it's very theoretical and there are not many real world examples used (not entirely her fault, 120C is very theoretical). Her tests are fair but the grading is tough. You'll lose points for the smallest errors.
Excellent professor. She is extremely passionate about the subject matter which shows in her lectures. Definitely not a class you can afford to skip class. Her lectures are very clear and the accompanying PowerPoint slides are very helpful. Definitely my favorite Economics professor so far.
Nice professor. A lot of people don't go to class and you'll suffer if you don't. Just by attending class, you'll beat the curve. It's easy to get lost in lecture so pay close attention. Tests are fair.
Her lecture notes organized and clear, BUT SHE isn't. She often will do things and not explain to the class; however, if you ask she'll help. Midterms were easy, but final not so much. Bottom-line, if you can learn by yourself, all the materials are there for you. If you need to be spoon-fed, hope the TA's are very helpful
She's the cutest human being in the entire world. I hate STATA though, so that part was really awful. She repeats herself in a clear fashion which makes up for her not-so-clear handwriting. The concepts stick to you with her and her midtermexams are fair.
Professor Candido is probably one of the better Econ lecturers at UCSD.
She is very nice, but she has a little trouble with time management. Other than that, standard. 2 midterms, 1 final.
Very patient and kind prof! However, if you cannot tolerate to read sloppy handwriting notes, don't take her.
Nice professor for people who work hard and attend class. I love the way she makes the test: hard but not insanely hard. The test can easily distinguish hard working students and those who skipped class and just go to EconTutor. She is a nice professor indeed. I have already taken three of her class: ECON 110A 110B 120A. I really enjoy her lectures
This class is not hard but you definitely need to study in order to do well. Her lectures are very well-organized and her notes are very helpful. Her exams are very long, especially the two midterms. You have to be really familiarized with the materials in order to completely finish the exams. She is kind and nice. Study hard and you will do well.
Very nice woman. She gives clear lectures and the exams are long but fair. Although there is no mandatory homework, you have to really spend time to do well in her class.
One of my fave profs I've had at UCSD. It's obvs shes rlly passionate abt the material & wants her students to understand & get a good intuition of what she teaches. Really great professor, I learned a lot. Easy class as well, only 3 homeworks and can resubmit however many times up to the deadline. Exams are reflective of practice material.
One of my favorite professors I had in the ECON Department. She is super nice and passionate on the subject matter. I learned so much in this class. She also stops in the middle of lecture to make sure that everyone understands what is going on. Warning: Her exams are long, but the questions are fair. Overall, I would take her again.
110B is definitely not an easy class. To do well, you should attend lectures and do problem sets and practice exams. There is curve. Professor Candido cares her students and want us to do well.
Great Professor! Took her for the Macro Econ series and loved it. She is really caring and loves to explain things. Came out of a higher paid job at Wall Street to just lecture.
Professor Candido is great! Took 110 B with her, and you can definitely get an A if you put a little effort, just go over the problem sets. I usually don't buy the books for any of my econ classes, but it was pretty helpful when studying for the tests. Overall, she is super sweet and approachable. Would definitely recommend her
The only grades are 2 midterms and the final. She's a bit disorganized, but clearly knows her stuff. Overall, she's decent.
Prof. Candido trully cares about her students. She is well organized and gives you everything you need to succeed. You still need to do the work, duh...
I found the lectures a little boring so I started missing class. She does move a little slow in lectures, but don't let that stop you from going because she goes over problems that you will see on exams and you will possibly be confused trying to solve them by yourself. She is very caring and wants everyone to understand the material.
She curves a lot, and she cares every student's understanding of lectures. However, her lectures are very boring, and she sometimes cannot express a concept well. Somehow, her ppts are not sorted in orders. A good thing is that before every exam, the practice exams are very helpful to succeed in real exams.
Not really sure why professor Candido got such a low rating. She really cares about your learning. It is true she goes a bit slow but I don't mind since this just prepares me better for 110B and C. Also, I had dropped 110A before with another professor so I can make a comparison. She does a lot better in explaining the concepts.
I take her class during Spring 2020 which is fully online. u wont like her online teaching method that much. most frustrating part was she didnt really understand and consider my difficulty of study environment (internet connection, time zone difference) her exam was 45 question in 50-55 min and 3 of 45 question.
Took 3 classes with Prof Candido. 110A, 110B, 120A. Explains concepts really well. Really wants us to do well and nice. Exams are tough in that she'll give you 40+ questions within 50 min time frame, which is hard to do if you don't know the material well enough but doable if you do. really depends on amount of effort you put in the class
Decent amount of homework for econometrics but I like it better because the class isn't graded on only exams and is good practice for the exams as well
I took 110A with another professor and bombed the midterms because there was such a huge difference between classes, problem sets, textbook, and the tests. Candido's tests are somewhat similar to prior tests and problem sets
She's very nice and obviously understands the material at a deep level and cares about her students, but I do not like her use of PowerPoints in lectures -- not engaging at all. If you have any background in statistics you'll do very well in 120A. Beware of the big Excel project near the end of the quarter. It's easy, but takes time.
Took the online course. Material was really easy, but she was accessible outside of class and seemed eager to help students. Tests are straightforward and easy as long as you either attended lecture or took notes on the side. Same with the homework.
Well her exams are not hard as long as u study enough. But she is not engaging at all, always having problem with technology (in a way it looks like she didn't prepared for the class). Every time student ask question she kinda looks like she is bothered by questions. lectures can be boring cuz she straight reads everything from the PP. overall fine
Her lectures are confusing. I doubt she knows what she is talking about half of the time. Tests are fair but you just have to study by yourself instead of going to lectures
Her exams are not difficult and she do curves generously. She's kind and she explains everything clearly, but sometimes this makes her lectures boring.
Her online class is such a mess. She's always having problems with technology and uses up like 10 minutes of class just trying to set up. She's all over the place when it comes to her notes and lectures. Her tests are relatively standard.
I've taken Dr. Candido for ECON110A and ECON110B. She can go slow at times, but she tries to be clear when explaining different topics. Several examples and real life connections are provided. Most lectures involve slideshows, while some involve her working through things on her iPad. Tests are closed-notes, but curved generously. Would recommend.
Doesn't hand out any homework at all for the Econ 110 series, but she does release weekly problem sets to help you reinforce the concepts you learn during the week. She grades you only on tests, but her curves are extremely generous (around 40% to get a C). Though her lectures may be tough to grasp, please be as kind to her as she is with you.
I don't know why Professor Candido gets such a low rating. She really cares about her students and her lectures and slides are very clear. If you go to class and study before the exam, you are pretty much guaranteed an A-.
Candido's lectures, while slow paced, are hardly reflective of exams. Usually far more difficult than what was discussed in lectures you will see awkwardly worded questions intended to test you, but really only succeed in making one feel as if they missed several lectures. Exams contain topics that were explicitly supposed to be omitted.
Very caring professor but because of online exams, the ones we take are totally different like the example exams. Need to study really hard to have a C.
Although Professor Candido is very caring, she is extremely disorganized. Her lectures are very inconsistent and hard to learn from. She frequently switches from using an ipad to her lecture slides, and doesn't know how to convey her thoughts clearly without sounding confused and startled.
No homework or attendance required. Generally, if you follow the professor's pace in lectures, you can get an A.
There are only two midterms and one final in this course. If you don't perform well in the exams, it will affect your grades.
I'm not sure why she gets rated so poorly. I feel that if you make the effort to go to class, you'll do fine. She helped me when I was struggling and was supportive. Although her tests are super hard, the curves are very helpful. I would take her again because she is very personable.
10% stata hw. There are three, you have unlimited attempts. It could be difficult for beginners. 25% for each midterm. 50% final. The tests are fair overall. There are MC questions and short answer questions. The average scores are pretty high, so the curve is not super nice. There are two ways of calculating your total grade, can drop a midterm.
super disorganized and confusing. lectures go like "this and this, and then this, and then this make it like this". literally. it the span of 2 minutes. she tries to go through lectures so fast that its crazy. she is literally always out of breath by how fast she tries to go through concepts! i have no clue what she ever means or is teaching
Wow, worst class ever. Not to mention, TA's are so trash. Doesn't help that UCSD only has one professor per subject, so thanks to this school, forced to take her again. I'm thinking about switching schools. So expensive and for what? Terrible teachers and rude TA's? Wish she'd teach something, rather than me doing everything on my own.
25% midterm 1 25% midterm 2 40% final 10% hw. Homework has multiple attempts, 3 in total, kind of easy. Can drop lowest midterm, but your final will be 55%, your best final will be 35%. Taken both 120b and 120c with her. Overall, this course is not super difficult.
Explained the concepts thoroughly. Exams are fair and representative of material covered in class. Would recommend.
She's a caring & understands the material herself, but this doesn't translate to being a good prof She is disorganized, the tests aren't representative & she can't communicate concepts at a learners level She curves, but shames students for not having pre-req info, so it's a bad cycle She teaches most reqs so be prep to be learning on your own
The worst Econ Professor.
Maria is one of the sweetest person I ever met. Her lectures are recorded. She has 2 midterms and a final which are all curved. Her canvas is easy to navigate, where she posts practice tests that are similar to what she will test on. her OH are in person and on zoom. The Stata hw is a bit tedious, but the TA's and herself are always there to help.
Very sweet teacher. She goes over the material in good detail and it's easy to understand as long as you're following along. Would recommend her highly!
She is so kind and curves beautifully. No way you can fail her class
Professor Candido is a good professor if you take the time to attend in-person lectures and see her explain the reasoning behind statistical concepts. The homework isn't difficult as long as you follow her tentative schedule of topics. As for the assessments, they're extremely lengthy but manageable, just as you do the practice material offered.
Was very considerate of my situation for missing to midterms because of some emergency and made sure if I do good on final to at least pass me. Very nice professor. Clear instruction in class & explains in very detail goes over only 10 slides in a lec. Just attend lectures, hw and practice midterm then its an easy A. I got a A on the final so
applied math major, taking this course for fun and to boost my gpa! typical easy ECON course for STEM major students. hope more math people can take this class and happily boost their gpa
Professor Candido's class can be challenging, but with dedication it's manageable. Attend lectures, do the homework, and use resources like Unstuck ai - that really helped me prepare for the assessments. Overall, a rewarding experience.
I've taken Candido twice now (120A & B). After 120A, which I took as a 2nd year, I wasn't super happy, thought the class was too hard, and that she taught too quickly. I took 120B as a 4th year, and had a totally different experience! She's a very driven, smart, and passionate prof. I joined OH once to get to know her. Love her. Fair tests, min hw.
Took Candido for 120A and 120B. Very nice lady, super test-heavy but curves nicely. Posts previous finals and midterms for studying.
Doesn't respond to emails at all. It's really tough out here.
I had to drop the class before the first midterm because she had so many skips and wasn't lear about making up for those missed lessons, not even a simple announcement. Econ 120C is a challenging course and she doesn't really explain well, I don't even know what I learnt for the past month. Recommend someone else.
Easy course. Opportunity for extra credit by going to lecture. Practice exams are given that look like the real exams. Lectures aren't super helpful but you can learn from the slides pretty easily and lectures are recorded.
Professor Candido is the best economics professor at UC San Diego. I have taken three classes with her. Her instructions on econometrics are super clear. And she is always willing to help her students.
Professor Candido is my favorite lecturer at the economics department at UC San Diego. Her 120A class is not hard in general. It helped me build a solid foundation for statistics and future econometrics classes.
Professor Candido's ECON 110A class is very clear on the analysis of different long-term macroeconomic models and their applications. She is willing to help her students all the time and very responsive.
