All of her classes re nothing but lectures and videos. Somewhat boring, but it is fairly easy as long as you do the reading

I think Prof. Romero did a very good job of explaining the subject material, especially since I was unfamiliar with Latin American history. Also, she's not a hard grader and she tells you exactly what to study. Recommended!
she doesn't know what shes talking about. She brigns pre-written lectures and talks too fast for note taking. The final is 40% of your grade and u cant be prepared for it.
Class was ok, most of the time boring. Final was worth 60 percent of grade for 8 week class and impossible to study for. Way too much information to study for crammed on the final. 3 assignments, 1 speech, 1 final.
Prof. Romero has made History class fun and very interactive. She's knows Latin American History so well and made me understand the course material. Very helpful and told me exactly what I need to work on to ace the class. I would totally recommend her class.
the prof is very helpful. she tells you exactly what to study for tests. lectures are clear and organized. there is work, but it is doable.
Romero is an excellent teacher and has a very fun class. She taught me a lot and I would definately recomend her to anybody. As long as you do the readings outside of class you will ace it. Easy (A), Nice atmosphere, a lot of good material!!! Have fun!!!!
Prof. Romero really took the time to help me understand the reading and the course material. She tells you exactly what to study for the final. So, I totally aced the class! Liked her teaching style as well. My best History class ever!
Professor Romero didn't have a whole lot to offer to the class. Very seldom did she lecture about anything that wasn't in the book already. All you have to do is keep up with the readings. The problem is there is a LOT to read and you must write 1-2 pages about it every week. This class carries almost as much work as an upper division class.
I took history 4, and I found it so interesting that I plan to take history 5 with this professor. She was EXTREMELY helpful with questions and wants to see her students succeed. Her class has the lecture notes posted online, and it is very easy to print them out and take additional notes (which help for the midterm and final). Good class!
Very good teacher and nice person wanting to help as much as she can.
She is great in helping prepare for tests, and material is given through lectures
Really easy class as long as you do all of the work. There are homework assignments each week and they count for about 20 points each. The midterm and final are very easy as well. If you have any interest in race in the US take this class
OMG this teacher makes u do a lot of hw by she is a really easy grader. I think the lowest test score was B. It is an easy A class. Just shown up and just do the work. Very EASY TRUST ME !!
great teacher. Has a tendency to talk really fast. The material is pretty dense, but everything you need to know is on the lecture. She tells you exactly what you need to know for the midterm. I suggest not buying PSR the yellow packet, you can get all the do****ents online, search google or she also posts it in blackboard. Overall, Romero really ca
She's a sweetheart!! sooo nice and understanding. Due all the homework and study over the notes for the Midterm and Test and you'll do fine! she gives you the questions before the tests. TAKE HER!!! I turned in a couple of homeworks late and still got full credit! TRUST ME!
She is the cutest teacher ever! Her class was fairly simple. Show up, participate once in a while, do the homework and show that your trying. I got an A in the 6week summer session. She has a cute sense of humor. Her lectures are long, but provides times for breaks and debates. Overall very caring teacher, wants to see her students succeed.
VERY good prof. She gives clear and concise lectures that help prepare for the test. Easy homework assignments or internet research. Tests are in essay form but are easy because the material is given to you to study for. Enjoyable for those interested in history and easy for those needing GE. Great lady.
Had a 3-4 page paper due each week in addition to a 7 page family research paper. Mid term and finals both blue books. Also 4 books to read, they were fairly short but still seemed too much work for this class. Also basic math is required on some of the sections. More writing than my English 1B class.
Be careful taking this class, it's a lot of work.
It's really funny to read all of these comments about how hard this teacher is, when in reality she is very easy. If u do the readings, and the homework the two exams will be really easy! Plus she gives you all of the terms that are on the exam to study and the essay questions two weeks in advance! easy A if u do the work! : )
This teacher was amazing. I took the 6 week summer course, and yes it was very difficult. but lets be real here... this is college! you're supposed to have to work for an A. There is a lot of work and reading involved, but if you do it, you should have no trouble with the exams. She gives you everything thats on the exam weeks in advance. Take her!
3 page papers due every week that have to be very in-depth. a lot of work for this class. tells you exactly what is on the midterm and final but a lot to study for
I loved this class! She did assign a lot of reading, but the subjects were interesting. There was no textbook for this class, just 4 small novels to read, and they were each no more than $5 if you buy them used. I got an A in the class and history is my worst subject.
The sweetest teacher ever. She really cares about her students. Class was pretty easy. Yes, there are assignments, but its easy stuff, not more than 30min each. Tests are all essay style, she gives you the topics beforehand, easy grader. Lectures are powerpoint and can get a little boring at times, but not often. Definitely recommend this prof!
I found her teaching style very annoying - constantly asking questions to a class of 40+ students and just stareing at the class until people shouted things out, instead of lecturing. Seemed as if she wasted a lot of time that way. She is also strict with her numerous assignments. AVOID this teacher.
good and kind
She's really nice and explains everything very clearly. To be honest I never bought the book and I got an A in the class. However, I suggest taking really good notes and having a study group, it really helped for the midterm and final. All of her lectures are available online but she wants details in your answers that aren't in the outline.
She seems waaay over teaching. She just puts up powerpoints and then splits you up in groups. Also, she treats everyone like we're in 1st grade! I came into the class really excited, but learned nothing more than I could in any un concentrated history class. If you want to learn, stay away from this class.
Very easy class, to the point that it felt dumbed down. Not especially interesting material. You'll get an A if you write to her bias. (western european nations= bad, evil oppressors; indigenous populations= innocent victims of centuries of abuse. true to a point, but that was basically all we learned in class)
2-3 page papers due each week. If you like history take her. If you don't you should look for someone easier because she is a tough grader. If I could take the class over I would have studied a lot more for the exams because they are extremely difficult. Gives 40+ terms in study guide & chooses 10 from where you choose 7 terms.
Super tiny, super quiet woman who seems like she's not into her job at all. Seems very bored while lecturing. 3 page papers due every week, super hard tests on things that she doesn't even talk about during class. Find another teacher if you're gonna take history 4. She will put you to sleep. You're on your own with this class, not a lot of help.
As some of the previous reviews said, lectures can be dull, give u all the info u need online and tests are fairly easy if u study somewhat. weekly essays are a total facial for obvious reasons but only 2 page double spaced. ull need the books too, fairly easy if u study a lil. but its hist, its boring. shes a miniature as well. shigity shwow
this professor is really hard grader, and also extremely boring, if you want to take history and not hate it forever dont take with this professor.
Prof. Romero is intelligent, clear, and helpful. She is also kind and funny. I suggest making flash cards and outlines for the tests. I am taking her History 5 class next semester, highly recommend.
A great teacher who has a lot of love for history. You're required to write a few essays throughout the semester as well as a museum research project, but it is nothing to difficult if you pay attention in class and keep up with course materials. She likes to incorporate sources into the class. She is very helpful and a nice teacher. Very coherent
she is very caring, and very clear to explain everything, gives the opportunity to get extra credits, post everything on blackboard, and really cares for the people shes teaching,, I highly recommed her for the class
Great professor, she's really helpful and always willing to extend deadlines if you have a legit reason. But the class itself sucked - should have been called "History of Racism in America". We get the point - we treated people badly. Let us learn from our mistakes and move on now, shall we?
She is a nice enough teacher who seems like she knows that people don't care in her class. Lectures are really dull, mostly powerpoints with endless links of maps and pictures. Speak up and she will like you. Do all of your papers, study for the tests (she gives you 50 terms to memorize and selects 7 for the test) & youll be fine, just REALLY bored
she is absolutely horrible, most boring teacher i have ever had. she lectures non stop for hours at a time and does not seem to care half the class is falling asleep. the whole format of this class was stupid. i would never take another class with her again.
Ignore the previous comment which is wrong in many ways. She does more than lecture. There is also a lot of discussion of readings and powerpoint images and also breaks during class. Just study and do the work and youll be fine.
This is a great professor. Every lecture is full of interesting information, she gives breaks and does not give you a hard time if you have a legit reason for missing the class or leaving early. I learn tons. I would take all her classes if I had more time. Super A for awesome!
Very nice, allows makeup work. The lecture is drawn out, dull, and imposible to figure out what the point is. Somewhat difficult to understand what she wants you to really learn. Tests are difficult becuase you study too much information and she randomly pics what she wants, which are the least talked about and not found in the books.
First off, let me say that I am a really motivated and diligent student; I have taken many online classes, but Romero's CCS1 online class is absurd. She assigns FAR too much work to complete; it honestly makes me question her in general. I have never had a more daunting class, and definitely will not take another with her. Wish I could drop it!
Professor Romero is sweet, involved, knowledgeable, tries her best to help you understand the material. She offers lots of extra credit, so it's obvious that she wants you to do well. As long as you study, go to lecture, take notes, and do your job as a student, you will be fine. This class is challenging and informative.
terrible. tests are on things we never even went over in class. i learned more from wiki than i did from the text book or her. also very boring.
If you take her for CCS, you will be reading at least 100 pages a week, sometimes over 200, on top of other assignments. Don't expect to skim, because you will be tested, down to small details, on chapters. If you have other responsibilities, expect to be stressed out. She's a good teacher, but gives far too much work for a 3 unit class at a JC.
Great class! Very informative. Professor Romero is great. She is very knowledgeable and always willing to help. Great lectures and great films. I would take her class again.
Professor Romeo is one of the best professors I have ever seen in community colleges in orange county and Los Angeles. She is knowledgable, patient, helpful, and really an intelectual Lady.
Romero is one of may favorite teachers at saddleback. she really cares about her students and gives them every opportunity to learn. she asks questions rather than making imperative statements and allows students to voice their own opinion. yes there are a lot of papers and reading, but she is not hard if you put in any amount of effort
The amount of work for this class is at least double what it is supposed to be. She did not respond to my email regarding what my grade was. Final was easy, but read, watch, and listen to EVERYTHING!!! You will fail the quizzes if you do not do that!
Professor Romero is the best teacher! She is patient, kind, understanding always willing to help and very knowledgeable. I have taken 2 of her classes and I just signed up for another History class with her. I am new to college and I have appreciated all her help. She made me like school.
This class is tough. The amount of work assigned was way too much. If you are not ready to put in a lot of time into this class do not take it. It can get a little overwhelming with amount of assignments and reading that is required.
Professor Romero is a great history teacher. I only have one major complaint and that is that for a student who works full time (40+ hours a week), completing all papers and the big project of the summer which involves going to a museum can be quite the time sink. I had to skip work one day to go to a museum.
There is a paper due every week. She requires a lot of reading. Her lectures are boring, with very little visual aids. Mostly an outline. Don't take her for Hist 4 or 5!
Professor Romero is super sweet. You can tell she's passionate about what she teaches but the work is too much. There's a 2-3 page paper due every week plus you have to go to a museum on your own time for an assignment. If you really enjoy history take her class. If this is just one of your gen eds to complete, find someone else
dont take her
regret
good person bad teacher
boring class would not take again
Professor Romeros history 5 class is one of the best courses Ive taken. She is very kind and cares about you doing well, extra credit is offered throughout the semester.
LECTURES ARE THE WORST. BORING WITH NO CLEAR DIRECTION. Extra credit points are very low and don't reflect the work you put into them. exam reviews were very wide and the questions were very very specific.
I dont care what she rating she got, but if you are looking if she is good or not keep reading, she is not, there is a paper due each week. And she seems she doesn't even care when she teaches. She is like give me my money and thats it. And the worst part is her test. Studying for her test is like you are in a dark room with no direction.
I took the eight week History 4 course with Professor Romero and it was great. Lots of work with quizzes, discussions, assignments, and Final paper, but not too stressful. I would take her again.
Took the 8 week class w/ Romero. A LOT of reading. I was either at my job or doing classwork the whole time. Each week has different material to read along with another couple chapters of a fat book. If I was taking another difficult class, I wouldn't survive. It's Brutal but it's SO INTERESTING. Fair grader. VERY thankful I took it. No regrets!
This Teacher is amazing . Mrs. Romero really brings the lectures to life when taking about any part of history . I would recommend this class , and teacher to anyone.
Professor Romero is a great teacher. She was very engaging throughout the course and explained things so they were not only easy to follow and understand, but also fun and enjoyable. VOF assignments are an EASY A if you follow her directions (context and answer) and many are online. The midterm and final are each worth 25% of your grade.
I do not understand her thinking when making this class. I was enrolled in 19 units and I did not expect this to be my hardest class. I think my anatomy class was easier. I would avoid this class because the weekly discussion is graded so hard and has to be 3 paragraphs long which makes no sense. also you have to read this fat book. Bad class 0/10
Really enjoyed having her. I took her online class and I truly believe her class gives you just the right amount of work for a history class. I am not a fan of history but she makes the course interesting enough to keep me somewhat entertained during the course. Her class really isn't that difficult; you just need to read her directions carefully.
History is not my strongest subject; however, I was able to pass the class. Professor Romero offers a study a guide for the exams. There is one journal assignment and a final paper that you'll have to complete but they are fairly easy. Make sure to participate in the weekly discussions and you'll pass.
I took this course online (8 weeks) and it was very doable. You do need the textbook, but not necessarily read word by word. She's a great professor! The class is weekly discussion boards, one midterm, and one final. She gives you a study guide before the midterm and final well in advance. Overall you should consider taking History 16 with her!
This 8 week class is WORK. Every week around 100 pages of reading, videos to watch, DB post. Midterm and Final are easy- write your essay questions ahead of time and you will be fine! This class requires a lot of time dedication, but the professor is awesome. She emails you back, responds to DB posts, and truly cares. If you like History take her!
This was a great professor who deserves a lot of respect! I took this course as an 8-week and it was tough. Everything was condensed and it felt like I was reading and doing homework all the time. She has extra credit weekly, gives great feedback, wants the best for her students and is very compassionate about what she teaches! You will learn a lot
She is so thoughtful, caring & helpful. She is very organized. You know exactly what is expected. She is always available to help & gives great feedback on everything. She works extremely hard & really sets you up for success. Tests are hard but are open-note. Read the lectures & books, watch the films, participate, do the extra-credit to get an A!
I loved Mrs. Romero, she was truly a phenomenal teacher and was always so caring towards us. She always allowed for extensions on everything and was a fairly easy grader. Just read over the lectures, watch the videos, and skim through the textbook and you'll be fine.
The workload was difficult for this class, but Professor Romero was very helpful which made it easier. I was able to pass the class with flying colors by only reading the textbook (and certain videos required by specific assignments). The textbook is pretty dry, but informative if you can get through it. The class helped me grow a lot as a writer!
Not a tough grader and there is plenty of opportunity to get an A. The work is not hard, it's a lot to do, but fun you are really into history. InQuizative seems lame at first but it forces you to LEARN the material. Extra credit possible throughout the semester. One of the best professors I've had at Saddleback. Take her if you enjoy history.
I took the 8-week online summer course with her. This class is a lot of work. There are multiple books, films, and lectures you have to read. Discussion boards every week. Her lectures are very detailed and her study guides are key to getting an A on the quizzes. She is also a very caring and understanding professor. Offers extra credit every week.
This is my last time listening to RMP. Her class is impossible! She's too lazy to teach so dump loads of readings and assignments on her students and expect everyone to finish and write essays every week. DO NOT TAKE HER! Laziest ever!
I have taken other history classes and this is probably the worst and hardest class I have ever taken. Romero's class will be doing too much for a 3-unit class. Take another professor because you will get behind with your major electives just to finish all her assigned works. Her discussion boards have to be 3 paragraphs!!
STAY AWAY! This lady does not care about how heavy her workload is to her students at all!! Her class is too overwhelming for the amount of readings and stuff you have to do!!! She does not teach, she just let her students read without understanding
Lazy teacher, gives very little information on assignments, gives zero teachings at all especially for a 8 week class. The work load is of a 5-unit class with the discussions being almost essay length, I have taken high level chem and nursing classes, this class is much harder. Stray away from this lazy teacher that doesn't consider your academics.
Skip this one. This class makes you do too much, I have taken other history classes, and this one is by far the most work to do. SKIP!
Firstly, she's genuinely a nice professor, she does not exhibit any dislike for her students or apathy for their plight. I must concede though that there is considerable amount of work and reading. I should also mention that this course unfortunately fixates a lot on social injustice. There are weekly chapter readings and inquisitive quizzes.
She extended a couple assignments for me, and was fast to reply to emails. She has so much reading, plus one inquisitive assignment per chapter. I took this as an 8week class so I understand that is a lot of material to cover. But it was 2 chapters, plus a discussion post and viewing assignment (usually 1hr) all in one week.
Norton Inquizitive is the bane of my existence! For every chapter you have to do them, and with 3 chapters due every week including reading assignments, a discussion, and video assignments, it is a lot of work. Professor is actually very nice and will allow extensions if you let her know beforehand, but I am glad that I am done with this class!
material she use (tbook app) and the test are designed to be confusing. the homework aways had purposely vague question which is down to luck. example question would be what apple do i like? a. i like red apple 2. i like red apples that are from fuji 3. i like apple that are red and ripe. and the book will say in somewhere in the line red apple
professor romero really makes history 17 easy and fun! most tests and quizzes are on the textbook website. super easy to look up also. the ones you have to do by yourself are super easy as long as you actually watch whats assigned! i loved this class
I took this as an online 8-week class so yes it's a heavy course. Get ready to read a lot per week, have a few quizzes, a DB every week and multiple inquizatives based on the readings. If you decide to take this online, start a week in advanced to stay on top of work. The tests aren't too hard as they are easily accessible online. READ DIRECTIONS!
Professor Romero was excellent and very kind. She made the material very easy to access and it felt well paced for an 8 week course. She leaves good feedback on assignments and has clear rubrics.
Please remember this is an 8 week class therfore do NOT under estimate the workload. This class, by far had the MOST assignments Ive ever had for any class. Its stressful because of the amount of work
Lazy teacher who does not actually teach anything, the whole class is through online book. Instead of preparing ANY MATERIAL of her own she mearly uses Youtube and videos from before most people in the class were born. If you want to spend 4.5 hours watching youtube videos for 30 minutes of acutal information. Not hard just lot of BULLSHIT work.
so much work, there were 12 assignments all due in the span of four days. Do not take if you have other responsibilities such as a job.
Taking the 8 week version so a lot of work is expected, but this is so far beyond other professors doing the same version of this class. So many more assignments than basically every other professor offering this version of the class. Zero reasons to take this class unless you need this class right now and every other one is filled.
Romero gave feedback on each written assignment, was easily accessible through canvas and communicated well. However be prepared for a BUNCH of assignments, esp. if you are taking the 8 week course like I did. While the assignments themselves were easy, they took a lot of time to complete due to readings and *Inquizitive. *This app SUCKED on mobile
Kind and understanding professor, just be ready for a large amount of course work, especially for the 8-week course.
