#ZafonteisLyfeWith all kidding aside, Professor Zafonte is an amazing English teacher, who clearly explains material and criteria for essays extensively. In addition to the in-class lectures, Professor Z tries to incorporate group discussions and peer reviews within the class agenda. Students are able to utilize help from the professor and peers.
Very clear when it comes to papers. Come to class for participation points and do the work because your grade is based solely on your papers and showing up to class. Only three papers a semester so make it count. Really helpful and will review your essay before submission during her office hours if you come and ask.
Only 3 essays so each one mattera a lot. She's really nice at helpful. Use her office hours!
Great, clear teacher. Highly recommended! Will make you a better writer.
She's great. Gives examples. Will read all of your revised papers if you ask her too. Is not completely clear on what she wants on her commentary.
GO TO CLASS- and for the entire class. She takes off participation points if you leave early or skip. The material is easy, but do not procrastinate. And go to the peer reviews. She has no problem reading your essay and helping you fix your papers as long as you give her the time.
I LOVE Professor Z. She is sooooooo AMAZING. Go to her office hours! I got A's on all three of my papers by going to office hours.
Clear and descriptive of what she expects in her students. Easy class if you follow her criteria and grading sheets. GCU format is a MUST to know like the back of your hand.
Zafonte is a great teacher, but her two aids were extremely tough graders. Zafonte is funny, kind, and always has open hours so you can come get help. There's only 3 papers in the class and honestly, I got a 4.0 in HS, but I had to work for this one. There's participation points taken every class so don't skip unless you think you can afford it.
Professor Zafonte will give you good feedback on your essays if you take advantage of her office hours. I received A's on my three papers because I would go to her office hours. Also participation in that class is very important and an easy way to boost up your grade. You just have to show up to class and answer easy questions as a group.
Zafonte is the best professor at GCU. I went out o my way to drop all my other courses to make sure I would have her for 106. English isn't easy so don't expect a ton of A's, but you'll love being in her class!
Zafonte was not a professor I would not recommend. She lectures the entire time and does not make it fun. She is a tough grader, even if you go to her to edit your papers and go over them with her, you probably will not get an A.
she was great, but dont skip class, be there for peer revision especially.
She is a very helpful teacher and the class was transparent, we knew exactly what was coming weeks in advance. The semester was 3 papers and we spent at least three weeks working on building each paper up.
I really enjoyed being in her class.
She is one of the best teachers I've had! Hard grader but honestly if you're in class she explains everything perfectly! you can schedule one-on-one meetings with her and she will explain everything and sit with you for however long you need her to. Amazing teacher I would love to be her student again!
Great teacher. Make sure to use office hours if needed. Understanding.
She was an amazing professor I really enjoyed this class. Essays are tough but she gives clear directions so you don't go into writing completely blind and confused . I would highly recommend her.
Maria Zafonte overall is a really good English teacher. She gives good feedback, and if you will ask her and do your best, she will help give you direction on your papers. She can be a tough grader when it comes to formatting, LEARN CORRECT FORMATTING (APA or GCU style). As long as you follow her direction and work hard, you will do great.
Zafonte, by far, is my favorite professor. She is very sweet and helpful. Her directions are clear and straight to the point. Her essay are not very hard, just pay attention to waht she asks for you to have in them and make sure to follow the outline she provides. I only wish i could have her again for ENG-106!
Professor Z was a very good teacher and would definitely take her again. She is always glad to help with papers during her office hours and is even willing to set up appointments outside of her hours. She does a very good job of making sure you are prepared to write the papers. Very clear about what she is expecting so make sure you go to class.
Professor Z is great. I had her my first semester of ENG-105, then when I saw I had a different professor for ENG-106 I spend 25$ to change my schedule. THAT is how awesome she is. She is very clear and helpful, and good at leasing discussions. Plus, she does not give any busy work or pointless assignments.
She is a horrible professor.
Comentary paper was HORRID
Mrs. Zafonte is a very energetic and fun professor. Her classes are enjoyable. As far as grading... master apa if you show up and write well you will pass and have a great semester
Zafonte is a genuinely funny and kind person. I never once minded going to her class. She makes her criteria extremely clear and gives great feedback.
Professor Z was great! She made sure to cover everything she was looking for in the papers and gave PLENTY of class time to work on them and have others read over them. She was so welcoming and easy to talk to if you wanted her to ready your paper before you turned it in (which I would HIGHLY recommend!) Definitely the only way to take English!
Essays are majority of your grade. Plus they are graded rather harshly
Your entire grade is based off of 3 papers throughout the entire year. Showing up to class is enough to get the participation. Lots of in-class group work. Pretty easy class overall.
She was an okay teacher. I struggle with writing and there was a lot of essays, but I still passed.
Great teacher. Very kind and funny, I would take a class with her again.
At first she seemed okay, nice, and like a fun teacher. But she assigns essays that we follow a rubric for EXACTLY, and she still gave me average and below grades. She did this on essays that I KNEW were at least A- to B material, and my group even said my essays were good. I do not recommend this teacher to anyone because she's not a clear one.
Really good professor. I had her for an Young adult literature class, so there was a lot of reading. Even so, I never felt completely out of touch if I couldn't finish my reading. She is very understanding and cares about what she teaches. Absolutely wonderful teacher.
Professor Z understands that every student in the university is required to take this course, and strives to make it as "painless as possible", whether the student likes writing papers or not. She cares much more about the student being a better writer than she does about the student's GPA.
She is a great teacher. People judge her based on the material for the class. Yes, there are alot of papers, but thats the course. She really helps you understand what you need to write about. She cares alot about you getting a good grade, and all the work in class will help you write your papers so don't skip class. I totally recommend her.
Prof. Z was great! She's humble enough to know that she doesn't know everything about YA lit and is open minded enough to learn from her students. People get mad about your grading but if you just follow the rubric you'll do great!
English was always my best subject. I took all honors in AP in high school and got As in every class. This teacher gives horrible feedback and unclear guidelines. I took this because letter grades don't transfer from my high school and I thought it would be an easy way to boost my gpa. It was my lowest grade by far and I am in all nursing classes.
This was a blended class so you didn't always have to go to class. She was great when you asked for help and really cared about her students when interested.
I'd say one of the best English teachers I've ever had. She's a pretty tough grader but she goes over each essay in depth and spends weeks helping you perfectly craft your essay in class. Professor Z also has a good humor so her little jokes keep lectures fun. Also big on group work/conversation and participation.
My class was blended so we only had to come to class on Tuesdays (usually dismissed maybe 10min early). Thursdays' attendance was optional, but encouraged if you had questions on anything. She is a tough grader (so are her I.A.'s) but she is thorough in her lectures and she is flexible, patient, and helpful when you ask questions. So ask questions!
I did not really enjoy Maria as a professor. I thought her lectures were very boring, and I feel like some of my papers were graded unfairly (granted that some of them were graded by IAs, but still). I am getting an A in English 2 with a diff teacher, but I got a low B in English 1 with her if that tells you anything.
Hated this class! Gen Ed teachers need to realize that people don't want to take this class, they just have to. She is one of these teachers. She thinks her class is the most serious thing you'll ever do. She doesn't believe in laptops because "handwritten notes are better for learning." WHO CARES ITS ENGLISH! Very hard grader for no reason.
I had Zafonte for YA Lit and it was horrible. The course has a lot of potential, but not with her teaching it. She tried to give examples of how to use the books in a high school classroom, but has never taught. She doesn't even have a degree in English. Why is someone who majored in Psychology teaching English? She's terrible.
Professor Zafonte was a solid teacher. Her assignments were very straightforward and she is a relatively easy grader (However her aids were not). Be prepared to use a lot of paper because she doesn't allow you to use your laptop much at all. She seems to really care about the subject and her students. Definitely, would recommend.
Professor Zafonte is an amazing teacher who truly cares for her students. Honestly if you do the work and go to class you will get an A. She has you work in "peer editing groups" BEST IDEA EVER! She is very hands on and helps you knock out parts of the papers in class! Word of advice if she gives out extra credit take it cause that never happens.
Professor Zafonte is honestly my favourite professor of all time. I miss her dearly and I will not ever need to take an English class again which actually makes me sad! That's how good she is. She is extremely caring, laid back, but be warned that there is a NO LAPTOP rule unless she specifically asks for it. Be prepared to use all paper notes!
She makes herself very clear with assignments and offers to help students. The biggest downfalls to her class are that the grading on papers is TOUGH, and if you aren't in class until the end you will lose participation points. Come to class and pay attention to the guidelines and you should be fine.
I am kind of in a tough spot with Professor Zafonte. She is very old school and does not sometimes get the important points across for what she ends up grading. I do love how this was a blended class and one day a week of in-class meetings were held. She seemed to draw class out for the whole time when it was not needed. Overall, she was okay.
The course itself is a breeze. But for Professor Zafonte, all your final grade will consist of are the 3 essays and participation points given by attendance. She's pretty good- she makes it a point to meet outside of class if you want to go over or edit your essay. Her lectures are pretty drawn-out and redundant though. APA will be your best friend
Dr Zafonte is not amazing but definitely not bad. I would probably take her again. She is a tough grader on essays and essays count for most of the grade with only 3 essays in the class. I was in her blended class so we were only required to come one day a week, so if you can get a blended class i definitely recommend!
Professor Z is a good teacher and allows you to learn with ease. Her lectures ran long for an English class but she was not boring by any means. Great teacher but grades your papers very tough. The class is graded by 3 essays basically and putting hours into all 3 essays and going in to have her review it i still never got over a 90%..
Professor Zafonte was very nice, and made the assignments very clear. She's very helpful when you ask questions, overall a solid choice for an English teacher.
Professor Z was a good professor, and did give feedback on papers. She is a tough grader, so beware (especially when it comes to formatting). She isn't an exceptional professor, but she's okay.
She was a good professor! She gave good feedback on papers and you only have class one day a week which is perfect for this English class. you don't need more then one day a week for sure. She would listen if you had an issue and take that into account but was strict when she had to be. You don't have to go to class to pass but would recommend it.
She is really nice and seems like she would be a really good teacher for elementary students, but not for college. If you need a lot of help with English and need someone to oversimplify everything, stay in her class but attendance matters a lot. If you understand English and don't need things explained 100x switch out.
Professor Z was a decent professor but her class was so boring. If you want full participation points, you need to show up to class but honestly everything we learned was pretty self explanatory since all we did was write papers. She grades pretty hard though and is extreme when it comes to proper formatting.
Professor Z is a great professor! She is super clear on all of her instructions and genuinely cares about you doing well in her class. If you ever have questions do be scared to ask for help she is more than will and is super kind. You will benefit from taking her class!
Professor Z is a good professor, not super strict however attendance is important. She lets class out early most days. she is very good at making the project requirements known so you will know exactly what to expect. Because of that, she does tend to grade essays a bit more strict, mostly grammar and formatting.
Be on every class, pay attention during class and it should be an easy A since they grade only for 3 essays and weekly participation.
Really tough grader. I feel like there are too many people in my class so she does not help me too much. But during the class, she is fun and engaging.
She's nice, but she's the definition of a stuck up high school English teacher. Thunder came into our class as a joke, just to hang around, and she was livid. She couldn't stop talking about how important her class was to be interrupted by him, even though people are on their phones.
Great professory but she picks participation randomly from one day out of the week, so if you're sick one day and that is that day she takes it then you're out of luck for participation points.
She is an average teacher, only downside is the loooonnnnggggg lectures. Also make sure you show up to class regularly.
Dr. Z is amazing! She is so kind and wants her students to succeed. She is a bit of a tough grader but helps a lot in office hours! I went to her office hours several times and she always gives great feedback! She makes herself very available to her students. I would absolutely recommend taking her course!
Dr. Z is amazing! She is very kind and helpful but her lectures are often boring and unnecessarily long. Her and her IA's graded harshly. So, it helps to go to her office hours and optional class times to ask her/IA's to proofread your essay and make sure you are on the right track. Go to class b/c she takes participation randomly.
I really enjoyed taking this class, it was a bit more work than I was anticipating but I was able to get it together and do a good job. Most of your grade is compromised of participation and the essays. There are only three essays so focus on them. Also, she loves to help her students succeed, so feel free to get to know her and ask questions.
Professor Zafonte was a great professor, really easy going. Easy A if you take the time to do each assignment and follow the rubric.
One of the worst English professors I have ever had. She is very specific in what type of style she wants you to write in and If you do not write the way that she likes, you will be downgraded. I have always had a love for English, but this professor made me dread having to come to class.
She is one of the best English professors at GCU. Very caring and wants her students to succeed. Easy class to pass as long as you show up and follow her rubrics. She is very hard on formatting grading but she will teach you the correct way. Always makes time in class for peer-reviewing on essays and has workdays before essays are due. Love her!
In my personal opinion, she was a very good professor and tried to be as caring and funny as possible. You don't have many things to be graded on other than participation and the papers; therefore, it's best if you show up to every single class. I liked her so much I took her class again for ENG-106.
Proffessor Zafonte was friendly and her feedback was good. She drug class on much longer than necessary though and the participation was tedious and felt like busy work. Not my favorite english class for sure.
I took her class for both English 105 and 106! she's an amazing professor! My class was blended so Tuesday lecture was required and Thursday was optional, but was very useful! she would take the time and sit down with me, answer all my questions, and review my work! she is also super funny and honest when it comes to the work load!
One of my favorite classes because of Professor Zafonte by far! She is so cool and laid back. I love the fact that there were no exams. You pretty much write three main essays throughout the semester, which is not bad at all. Her topics for the essays are fun and interesting, so it makes you want to write without feeling the dread of writing.
I took 105 and 106 with Zafonte. She is really a good professor to have. She truly wants you to pass the class and do well on the papers. She prepares you to do well by having activities in class. I literally think of her as the mom of English. She is just the most adorable professor ever!
Zafonte was such an easy English class to take especially during COVID. Her office hours were open most of the time and she answers emails very fast. There were only three heavily graded assignments and the criteria was very clear for the students. She gave us time in class and if we were done she let us leave early. Definitely recommend her
Dr.Z is a good professor but I wouldn't take her again because some of the IA's are tough graders. She gives u a lot of helpful slides to build up ur essay and is willing to make sure u understands the prompt. She also gives u lots of time to work on the paper but the downside is her paper is due a few days before other prof. She's cool tho.
Dont take her she is the worst. I used to get As on all my papers the semester before this but now Ive gotten Cs on my papers when taking her. She is very nit picky and will only give you a good grade if she agrees with you on your topic. Im a nursing major so this shouldnt be the class that is gives me the hardest time. Good luck.
Probably one of the hardest English courses I have ever taken. She is a tough grader and everything has to be up to her standard. When I messaged her for help, she would never get back to me. I dont recommend this professor.
Dr. Z cares about her students and making sure they truly understand the course material. If you have a question, she is more than willing to sit down and help you understand - especially with the papers!
Dr. Z is a great professor. She is really nice and helpful and goes out of her way to make sure that her students understand the topic. There are a lot of opportunities for us to ask her questions and she does her best to answer them. She provides good and helpful feedback on assignments.
Dr. Z is so sweet and very helpful when you need it. I don't know how she doesn't have a higher rating honestly. Even her blended assignments for hybrid format classes were kind of interesting.
Dr.Z is a really good professor make sure to attend her office hours. She is super helpful. Just follow apa format because she is strict with that and you'll do fine. Also make sure to follow the rubric in every assignment, she doesn't give a word count which is less stressful on essays.
She drags on her lectures for weeks and doesnt really explain how she wants the paper to look like. She posts her powerpoints from class but they were oftentimes not helpful. The only powerpoints that were helpful were the ones posted after the first draft/peer review was due & a day before the final draft was due. good luck!
I had the pleasure to have Dr. Z for both Eng-105&106 she is such an amazing professor who cares a lot about her student she makes a initiative to get to know each and everyone of her students even in a big lecture hall. Work load is super light there is never any hw besides essays. She gives out detailed formats of what she wants. Take her!!!!
Dr.Z was amazing! I am awful at English, but she offered very useful feedback for what she was excepting. Everything is laid out very nicely, so no assingments will ever sneak up on you. I had her for a blended class so there is extra homework on the off day but it's easy and if you choose to go to class that day she will proof read your essay.
Maria is amazing!! I was in her english 105 class and she handled a class of almost 300 students pretty dang well. She wants her students to succeed and gives them great guidelines and feedback for their essays. As long as you do well on your essays, you will definitely succeed in this class.
Maria Zafonte is so cool. I was in her ENG-105 class, which during covid had about 100+ people in my section and then another 100+ online. Somehow, she still knew my name when we did a group activity and we needed to get in groups. She is very caring and understanding and is a good lecturer. If you can get in her class, do it. even if its at 7am.
Dr. Z is a very nice and an excellent professor. Her papers are pretty straightforward and she gives a very detailed outline. She elaborates on her instructions very well and makes sure you have all the resources to help you understand. She is very sweet and funny a great professor all around!
Dr. Zafonte is a serious teacher, but she genuinely cares about her students and knows her stuff. There are only 3 essays during ENG105, and she prepares you well and gives plenty of opportunities to get better grades and prepare further for a good grade.
Zafonte is the best! Took her online due to the pandemic and shes still amazing! Her class was a requirement for me even though it doesnt necessarily correlate with my major (edu.). She is responsive, kind, and caring. She gives great feedback. Take her class if you can! The way she does DQs is cool too, unlike any other professor I have had.
Dr. Zafonte had to take over my ENG-105 class with only three weeks left in the semester. By the end of the first class period, she knew my name. This is something so simple, with such a big impact. She is very knowledgable in her field. She is almost too smart! Beware with your essays! I highly recommend!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Zafonte is a great professor and incredibly helpful! The entire class is basically graded on three papers, but she gives you a clear outline and lets you know exactly what she wants. If you spend a good amount of time on the three papers, you will be fine (plus her lectures are fun)!
She's AMAZING! Much of the reading done is on your own, and she allows digital copies of books covered in the course if you cannot get your hands on a hard copy. Aside from the academics, she's extremely understanding of personal situations and is always willing to hear someone out. I would love to take another class with her in the future.
This would be a really good class for someone who needs their hand held through every assignment. The entire class is graded off of three papers and so the only in class work is making sure everyone understands the papers. Which sounds nice and easy, but around the fourth or fifth day of reading examples of the same topic you are pretty over it
I loved Dr. Z! I especially loved how she tailored the class to different people's needs. She was also super engaging with the students and really cared about our mental and emotional health. I was nervous taking this class online, but I was so glad once I saw that Dr. Z was the teacher because I had heard such good things about her.
Pros: only 3 essays the entire class (around 2-5) page average, little to no homework, kind professor Cons: unnecessary lecture length that was generally not important information, Strict on APA formatting General: barely had to think about this class as there wasn't much to work on, hates if you pack up early &will call whole class out on it.
Loved her, she made great jokes... and also any question you asked her she would elaborate on and answer very very well.
she gives really good feedback if you just ask her for help. super nice and energetic in class, but will call u out if u pack up while she's still talking
Because this is a young adult literature class, you have seven novels you read throughout the semester, but I enjoyed and would recommend almost all of them! The class is pretty laid back and Dr. Z is a caring professor. The assignments are not too difficult, and I especially enjoyed the final project where you get to choose your own book.
Dr. Z was a great teacher, we also had great discussions in class. She is very openminded and always allows students to speak their mind on the text. She also takes our recommendations into consideration and is very is easy going. Highly recommend this class especially with Dr. Z.
Professor Zafonte is amazing! She consistently let us out of class early and her lectures were always engaging and helpful. We only wrote 3 essays for her entire class: (1) a rhetorical analysis, (2) a review, and (3) a commentary. She is also available for office hours. Super kind and an easy grader. I definitely recommend taking her for ENG-105!
Her class is very easy, she does not give any homework besides working on your essays, and you only have to write three papers the entire semester. She provided a lot of office hours and provided great feedback on my papers. However, attendance is mandatory, a lot of the participation points is based on attendance.
Dr. Zafonte was an amazing person. She truly cares about all of her students and makes time and effort to make sure that you get the help you need for your papers. She offers one-on-one office hours to edit your rough draft before turning it in. As long as you come to peer-review day for essays and submit your work, you will be fine.
It was an easy class, with only three papers, that were straightforward. However, she is very particular about participation and will give 0% if it is even a minute late. She gave no room for exceptions and can be somewhat strict during class. Overall, easy class, and mandatory participation, but I would not take her again.
Zafonte was a really great teacher and I would definitely have her as my professor for next year. There were only 3 essays in the class with no homework at all. All the essays were straightforward and pretty easy to do.
Professor Zafonte was amazing! I really enjoyed the class, we only did 3 essays and went into detail of what was expected for each essay. I sat in the back of the class but I would recommend sitting near the front, it gives you more opportunity to see and talk to her. My writing improved a lot compared to when I started this class. 100% recommend!!
I would recommend this professor to anyone. She cares a lot about your success. I would highly recommend using her office hours for the essays in this class, her feedback was the reason I got an A on all essays. She explains all the tools and skills you will need to do well on the essays, which was really helpful.
I loved this class! She was very informative and precise with the directions of each assignment. The paper topics were interesting and entertaining to write about. 10/10 would take it again!
Professor Zafonte was an amazing professor. She was always able to clearly explain what needed to happen in each paper that we worked on. She was also very helpful. If any of us students had any questions, she would give really good feedback on what to do, in order to make our papers stronger.
Dr. Zafonte was pretty good! I would take her again... If I had too. She was nice to all of her students and answered questions when you had them. She was more than happy to help, and she got straight to the point most of the time so she didn't waste our time.
I actually like the class material she provided, there are some fun stories you get to read. There were only three papers and a video essay we had to do over the entire course the instructions and syllabus is extremely clear if you go to class. She definitely made class enjoyable.
Zafonte is one of my favorite professors that I have ever taken. She is incredibly caring and makes lectures entertaining. Most of her ENG classes she makes the second day of class each week an online DQ and you only have to show up to class if you want help with anything. She's not an unfair grader and she teaches writing styles very well.
This professor successfully prepares and aids you in class for upcoming assignments and projects. Everything is straightforward and explained thoroughly. Ms. Zafonte also brings energy and motivates her students through her interactive and insightful lectures. Overall, she provides a very meaningful and beneficial impact on her students.
She does not give two effs about her students, she is not a good professor at all and has no mercy for her students.
She was very helpful and would provide resources if you were struggling. If I struggled with an essay, she would take the time to work through it with me until I felt confident with my ideas.
Great teacher, office hours are helpful.
Dr. Zafonte was a very fun and easy-going professor. Her class was very engaging and she was great during office hours. Her feedback on papers was not very clear, but there were many students in my class so it is understandable. I would recommend going to office hours where she can work one-on-one with you. Overall, this was a great course!
I only had class once a week and online blended assignments on another class day. Strictly followed the rubric but had in-class office hours to help with any and all assignments.
Dr. Z was great for English 105. She defiantly won't go easy on grading your papers, but follow the rubric as close as you can and you will be fine.
Dr. Z is a very kind lady. She does give good feedback and is a relatively easy grader, but she often overcomplicates the prompts and restricts certain topics on papers for no apparent reason. If you enjoy English, I would absolutely take her, however, I really hate English, so the challenging prompts were just frustrating to work with.
Dr. Z truly cares about her students success. I highly recommend going to her office hours as she provides great feedback. I would for sure take her class again.
I took this class as a blended class which means it was over 200 people and met once a week. She is a fair grader, and the class expectations were clear. I had no problem doing well in this class, but I always showed up. The participation adds up because the class is based on 3 essays. Extra points help. I recommend her
This class and professor were super easy. LOTS of in class discussion. Dr. Z is very chill and lets out early sometimes. Attendance is not mandatory because only once every two weeks does she do something for participation. And normally it's just an assessment of how we liked certain assignments.
she is great! honestly just take her class, she has office hours that i went to often and it REALLY helped all my papers, i've never gotten a B on any paper in her class. she's very lenient towards the beginning for APA references.
Only 3 papers in the whole class. She gives clear instructions on completing all of the assignments. She also only makes you show up 1 day a week with the other day just being an online assignment to give more direction to the main assignment that is coming up
Dr. Z runs a challenging but rewarding ENG105 class. Her detailed feedback helps you improve as a writer. unstuck ai was a great study aid alongside the course materials.
Dr. Zafonte was a great professor and I am taking her again for ENG-106. The way she runs her classes keep the assignments interesting and keep you motivated to get the work done.
Her class doesn't have many hard projects you do have to write, she's super annoying about her little in class projects and also makes an assignment that's due every week on Wednesday on top of essays. Over all not hard if you try.
Take this class if you want to write a paper over spring break and do lots of busy work.
Dr. Zafonte was so great I had her for ENG105 and again for ENG106 definitely recommend!! Most of the classes were to construct essays, assignments were super easy to complete and she grades fairly easily as well. She was always super sweet and helpful during office hours and provides clear and useful information on completing essays.
I had really high hopes for this professor because I believe everyone she's a good teacher. Don't listen to them!!!! She's a really strict grader and it was not worth my time. Most of your points come from 3 papers, and if you fail 1 of them you're out of luck for the whole semester. Take this with a grain of salt and pick another teacher
Dr. Zafonte was a generally good professor and was able to teach us many writing skills. However, she is a tough grader and it's hard to succeed without showing up to class and looking at feedback.
Participation is always taken on Tuesdays and blended days on Thursday aren't mandatory to go to class but does count for participation through the assignment she posts. Guidelines are very clear for the 3 major papers, make friends because you'll sit by them the whole semester. She's very helpful if you have any questions!
I loved Maria, she was amazing. Do the homework, follow the guidelines, and listen in class and you'll be fine. She truly wants to help you and wants you to succeed. I learned so much from this class and loved it.
I had her for ENG-250 and loved it! She is very sweet and helpful! She gives good feedback and is always willing to help! It does take her a few days to respond to messages, but overall, she is a great teacher, and I would highly recommend!
Loved this class! Professor Zafonte is amazing! She is very knowledgeable! We did lots of group projects and book readings! The books we read were great, and the projects on them were enjoyable! She made reading fun and made the class something to look forward to!
