She was very direct, by the book kind of person. She was not student friendly. Both of her exam Mid-term/Finals were too long for a hor time frame. All essay question!! 2 over words long! Shameful!!
She was great. Remember that the professors do not create the assignments or exams! The school does! She had nothing to do with creating the exams!
I agree that she was really good, graded all the assignments quickly, and gave useful feedback. I have also heard that professors do not create the assignments and that the school does.
This is my second class with the teacher. She has really helped my writing and answers any questions I have. I will definitely take her again.
She is in the classroom every day and answers all discussions. She grades papers within a day and gives good comments.
Really strong, great feedback, always available.
The teacher was very helpful and gave a lot of feedback. She answered my questions and got back to me quickly.
Great class. I can't wait to take another one.
The professor was really good and the class was interesting, but some of the materials that the school gave us were old. The professor is one of the best.
Teacher is organized, grades papers on time, and answers emails, unlike alot of other teachers. Good class.
Great course and really interesting material. The professor gave feedback on all assignments and answered emails, unlike other professors.
I love the way this course is run. The teacher emailed us every week and asked questions. I felt like she really cared. Her comments back on papers and discussions were terrific.
I have to agree. I loved this class. The teacher was always there and helped alot.
Wonderful! What a great experience!
Great class and really good interaction. The students added alot as did the teacher.
Loved the class, alot of discussions, quick grading.
I loved this class and can't wait to take another. The teacher provided me feedback on all my papers and gave me ideas to work on.
What a fun class. Many of the classes here don't have interactive teachers, but this one was in the discussions almost every day, adding something and showing that she was listening to us.
Loved the class
The prof is online all the time and will help you with any questions you have.
Loved the class...very well set up and easy to follow. Great prof.
loved the class!
Definitely recommend
In a Homeland Security class, this professor was more concerned about spelling errors and grammatical errors rather than the content of your paper. Also, most questions would ask for you opinion on a subject, however, marian would take off points for writing it in 1st person. How else would you write an opinion paper!?!?
Prof made requirements clear and students were expected to correct work from one week to the next. Prof was fair.
A fair teacher. She just grades and moves on though. I would prefer she give more precise instructions and chances to redo or modify assignments for improved grades but over all she is fair. Be aware some assignments are not to be written in first person, while others are not to be written in 2nd or 3rd person. I suggest asking before you do the assignment. Also do not start or end a paragraph with a quote or cited thought from some other source both start and end should be your own thoughts.
Great course and great teacher.
Teacher answered all questions quickly and graded papers by the next day.
Great class and prof. quick feedback.
Be prepared to have your papers dissected due to formatting. Never in my entire college career have I had a professor so nit-picky. I would absolutely change instructors if it were an option. Make sure you mind-read her because she changes the schools syllabus and adds her own criteria. Good luck-my GPA is tanking because of her.
Provides quick feedback and is always available to answer questions. Is very clear about expectations and really teaches you how to write. Is a subject matter expert and shares information and ideas.
The teacher is very clear on what she wants and provides her expectations the first week. If you follow the expectations you'll be fine. She catches plagiarism so make sure you use quotes correctly.
The professor was engaged throughout the semester, was online daily, graded work and answered emails within 24 hours, and was helpful in answering questions. Highly recommend taking her.
This professor should revisit the definition of mentor. She uses no set criteria in grading other than her own personal agenda. Provides NO positive feedback and shows no flexibility. She is extremely critical and the epitome of what an educator should not be.
the professor provided clear writing requirements at the start of class and was very clear on her expectations and graded to those. She graded quickly and provided alot of feedback.
Average amount of papers for an online class. She gives great feedback for future papers and is always available for help.
Seemed like the only grade given was a B, even if you followed feedback from prior assignments. A 4 page minimum paper due every week or 2. Longest paper 8-10 pages.
Not flexible at all. Even with a COVID 19 death in the family. Had to drop the course.
As stated in other ratings this mentor grades more on your grammatical errors than the actual content of your papers. I have taken both English Comp 1 and 2, and this mentor is tougher than actual English mentors. I was graded on expectations that were not listed. All my feedback was on how my paper was composed not the actual topic.
The "Mentor" does not go by the syllabus. She will grade you on what she wants to for that day. If you question her you become a target of ridicule. Avoid at all cost.
The assignments in her HLS630 class were confusing and extremely writing heavy. Many of the prompts were lacking and made it difficult to complete the full assignment. There was a lot of confusion and frustration in the class early on. Avoid if possible, but if not...just get ready.
Provides little to no feedback on assignments. Makes it near impossible to get anything better than a C on any written assignment.
The worst professor I have taken in all of my college career. The class is so interesting, but the prof makes it worse. Im more worried about her grading my papers and formatting it the way she wants instead of the content and quality of the information Im reading or using. I had a 4.0 GPA before this, and I might be lucky if I get a C in her class
Get ready. However, if this course is not mandatory, fine. I felt that the discussion boards were more like an essay then a discussion board. You are graded by a few things as well. As for feedback, that does occur.
The teacher was always available. She checked in by email when I forgot to hand in an assignment. She made sure the requirements were clear and answered all my questions.
I have had this teacher for a few classes. She is clear about what she is looking for and what she expects, she gives alot of feedback, and she lets you know where you can do better. If you need an extension, just asking and communicating will get you what you need.
Prof Leerburger gave me a lot of feedback and help on my papers. She added questions in the discussion room and then added feedback privately in the grading folder. She usually gave me about a page of feedback on each paper.
Prof gave lots of feedback and graded quickly. Answered all my emails within a day and gave me good examples for improvement.
Great prof. School creates the assignments, not prof, so the page requirements are pre-set. Gives feedback and answers question. Helps you alot.
Knows her stuff. Works in the field. School has discussions and papers every week, and prof grades within a few hours. Answers questions.
I was deployed and had alot of trouble with my computer. Prof gave me leeway when I told her the issue. Worked with me to get me through the the course and didn't give up on me.
I have had this teacher for two classes so far. She is fair and gives alot of feedback. She always answers email and is there to help you.
I enjoyed this class. The teacher was involved in the discussions and gave good points from real world experience.
The teacher provided alot of feedback and answered each of my discussions. She gives you expectations at the beginning of the semester and if you followed those you will be fine.
I really learned quite a bit in this class. The professor took the time to give me feedback on all my assignments and helped me improve my writing.
I really enjoyed this class. The professor was avilable and answered questions.
I had an issue with my son medically and the teacher worked with me, gave me extensions, and was really understanding of my situation. I would definitely take her again.
I do not recommend this instructor. 350 characters isn't enough to fully explain but: Her grading is harsh. Her explanations of what you did wrong on assignments is extremely confusing. Lastly I am a military member and after communicating that I was going on a mission and being told I was good, she gave me Fs for all my work while I was gone.
I have had this professor several times. She has always worked with me, particularly when I had medical issues with my family. She cares about her students and is flexible in providing extensions when you let her know there is an issue. Her feedback is lengthy and helpful.
Really enjoyed the class and the professor. She gives alot of feedback and have expectations that she puts out the first week in the announcements, so everything is clearly stated up front.
I enjoyed this class alot. I got comments on all my work and that helps me improve.
I really appreciate that during the hurricane, professor checked in with me, and let me hand in work late. She understood that things happen.
Couldnt ask for a better class. The professor gave feedback on every assignment.
I really enjoyed this class and have had the professor in two previous classes.
I didn't understand all of the assignments and the teacher was there every day to answer my emails, give me examples, and help me through the course.
Prof worked with me on two occasions when I was sick one of which when I was in the hospital.
Great professor....In class daily to check in and answer discussions. Answered questions quickly.
I emailed the prof all the time about requirements and assignments. She always made time for me and answered my questions. That helped alot in getting through the course.
The professor accused me of using AI to write a paper based on what an AI scanner said. It's tough to choose the words we want to use for a paper because nearly everything will match content found on some database. The professor told me that I used awkward words, ignoring that English is my second language, and taking my efforts for granted.
I have had this professor in three classes. She is consistent in her comments and her feedback. She is always available to help and will give you good comments on your work.
I enjoyed the class but wish there were more students in the class. Having discussions with only three people when one or two do not come to class is hard.
Absolute horrid professor. Inconsistent with grading and will harshly punish you for small mistakes.
I really enjoyed this class. While there were not alot of students in the class, we had really good discussions and the teacher was involved throughout.
This Prof grades more towards grammar than the actual content and quality of the research.. Very unforgiving of being late. Zero rewrites. Discussions are treated as written assignments. READ HER REQUIREMENTS. You cannot use the words 'it', 'they', or 'them'. If your major is HLS, she will be your Prof.. Good Luck!
Loved the prof and the clear feedback on assignments.
The professor has clear expectations in writing and expects that students will read the information she provides to help them. She does hold people to the requirements and is clear that work needs to be on time.
I liked the class alot and appreciated that the prof was involved and answered all my questions. I needed an extension when a relative passed and the prof was decent about that.
The teacher definitely worked with me when I was sick and then my kids were sick. She wanted you to communicate if there was an issue, but then helped you out.
I really enjoyed the class. The professor left messages in class each day and answered all discussions, grading that day.
I had trouble getting the textbook for the course and the prof let me use internet sources and also provided a few readings for me to use. That was really useful.
My mother was quite il during the class and Dr. Leerburger gave me extra time to do my work. She checked in on me repeatedly. She definitely was caring and understood outside issues.
The class has discussions each week and is thus demanding because of the workload. There are short papers each week. The teacher gives expectations up front and those are pretty easy to follow.
There is alot of work in the class but that is expected in the program. The teacher reaches out to you if you have issues.
The school has started to have some strict rules especially in not giving credit if a discussion is late. Dr. Leerburger does respond to all discussions.
I agree that the new rules with no getting credit for late discussions are harsh but that did force me to try and get work done early. The prof is there with reminders so that helps.
There was so much work in the class but that apparently is determined by the school. The teacher gave feedback on everything and answered all questions.
I wish more students were in the discussions as that would have made the discussions more interesting. The teacher did participate.
Dr. Leerburger helped alot when I needed extra time on a paper and gave me feedback that really helped me improve my skills.
I got written feedback on each of my assignments and the professor took the time to explain what I needed to change which was very helpful.
The class and the material was really interesting and I got alot out of it.
I had to work hard each week to get good grades, but Dr. Leerburger explained each mistake to me and gave me a chance to rectify my problems to improve.
Prof ensured group projects were entered by everyone and checked to make sure everyone was doing their work.
The teacher will answer questions quicly and work with you.
There are papers almost every week, which was hard to keep up with but the professor was engaged with each discussion each week.
I had difficulty because of work issues and couldn't always be in class. I was able to use extensions and that helped tremendously.
I enjoyed the class and learned alot of material and details. The class requires discussions and papers and the professor graded each on time and with detailed feedback.
I enjoyed the course and appreciated that not only the professor but the students were involved in the course and the discussions. That made the subject matter more interesting and useful.
I really liked the material in the class and enjoyed learning from this professor.
The professor was willing to go over my work prior to the due date which helped me be successful in the class.
The class was understandable and easy to follow. The syllabus was clear and the assignments were straightforward.
Loved the class and found everything easy to follow
This class has work every week, between discussions with many responses required, papers, quizzes, and other assignments. You will definitely do work.
The discussions each week were wll created and had to do with the readings and course materrial so that was useful ni getting to understand the material.
The course has alot of work and requires discussions each week, plus papers and quizzes throughout the semester. Everything is clear as to what is expected.
I didn't care for the group projects as there is always someone who doesn't do the work. Professor Leerburger got right on in and dealt with the student who wasn't helping out and made that person participate.
This is my second course with this professor. He is involved and grades quickly.
The discussions are graded and if you do not participate on time, the school does not allow grading, so this is something to remember.
I enjoyed the class. The information was accessible and the teacher was there when I had issues and questions.
You definitely will do work in the class and there are readings and discussions and papers each week. Pay attention to the requriements.
Apparently, the school now requires that you do the discussions the week they are due. They cannot be late. You need to remember that as the teacher grades per the requirements.
Good course, professor willing to help and answer questions.
Really good course. Well laid out. Good discussions.
Professor Leerburger was in the class every week, graded quickly, and gave good feedback on each assignment.
Very clear requirements and expectations and quick grading.
Professor Leerburger is a great teacher. He replies to emails quickly. He grades quickly. He's pretty lenient on late work. He's one of the best professors I've had. It's hard working a full time job and turning in homework on time. He works with you and is understanding. He wants you to pass the class!
She is very positive and encouraging. she is well in tune with the lives of modern students. there to help and has a transparent set of assignments and grading standards. she sets the example of an engaging professor.
I actually learned something and that says a lot for a full online course. It seems like she enjoys teaching and cares about her students.
The course was interesting and had quite a bit of work but the prof was involved and answered emails and questions.
Great instructor. Patient with questions and very interactive, in and out of class.
Pro Leerburger was a very helpful instructor. He provided great reference material to help us prepare for the papers in the class. He was also so receptive and understanding to my personal family emergency, giving me support whn it came to the homeworks, he was very quick to respond back as well. Loved the class. Thanks Professor!
Great instructor. grades fast and understanding if your homework is late
Great professor. I struggled but did my best. I would love to have her again.
Professor had weekly discussion posts and every two weeks a paper assignment. Quite a bit of reading but made up for it in the group discussions we had to review the material in class. Really knowledgeable and I enjoyed it.
The profefssor was interested in us and helped. She answered questions and seemed to care. Sshe was available when we needed her.
Great prof, great feedback, fair grader. Thought provoking and fun topics to write about. Need more professors like her.
Great professor and very involved. She gave really useful feedback, and is a fair grader. Need more professors like her in the program.
Was great, loved all the information he used during the chats. Great at answering questions and responding promptly to emails. would suggest to anyone.
Excellent instructor! The feedback on assignments was always constructive. He made the classroom environment engaging by encouraging active participation, often took the time to respond to many students in the discussion forums. He seemed dedicated to student learning making the course stimulating and very welcoming.
I highly recommend if you need to take this class to choose Professor Leerburger. She's quick to grade assignments, grades fairly, and engages in discussions. The only reason I got a B and not an A is because I forgot to do a quiz. As long as you turn in assignments on time and pay attention to the rubrics you'll get an easy A.
She really wants you to do well. She is available through the chat messenger always. She breaks down each DB and IP very well. She may seem like a tough grader to others, but if you hit all the required bullet points you should be fine!
Very engaged, specifics for assignments covered in detail. Chats were necessary to stay informed. Technical information explained in laymen's terms. Very personable, extremely helpful. Provided challenges to excel, very fair in grading, excellent feedback. I look forward to sharing future classes.
I say tough grader but he wants you to learn how to do research, write and think. If you looking just for grade, this ain't for you. If you want to learn, yes. Course is only 8 weeks so theres lots of stuff to learn and its not easy.
Fantastic hope to have him in the future
I would highly recommend taking Professor Leerburger's class. He was an excellent teacher that gave helpful feedback and was very active throughout our weekly lessons. He had clear expectations.
He was awesome, he always find a way to formulate a question to follow up, I try to give the most complete discussion that i possibly could to avoid questions and he always find a way to ask a question.
Prof l was a great instructor, really accessible outside class and understanding of special circumstances. Really enjoyed the lectures as well.
He grades and posts grades very fast. He also replies back to your forums and appreciates real world examples personal to you.
He replies back to your forums and appreciates real world examples personal to you. Just do the work and you'll do great.
The course was not so bad. The assignments were manageable, and the course material was insightful.
None of the assignments were overly difficult, especially if you follow the rubric.
The assignments were all relevant to the class, and I had to do a lot of very interesting research. This class was fun and not boring!
I've taken two of her courses and learned a great deal from both she really pushes you to think critically
Her discussion posts and assignments were creative and thought-provoking
Dr. Leerburger clearly explains everything she expects and she gives awesome feedback which is great
The teacher really cares for his students. He accommodates if need be, and he loves learning about his students.
His participation in discussions was off-the-charts good. He shared so many of his real-world professional experiences. The weekly discussion questions alone could have been enough for us become subject matter experts. Great course! Better Professor!
Very easy course, he grades fast and fair. Would take over and over if I could
If you dedicate a little time, he is a good instructor! Would take again.
Dr.L's Awesome!! She is very engaging with her students, provides clear feedback, and responds to questions and inquiries immediately.
Dr. Leerburger is the most professional, knowledgeable instructor I've had. His experience shared through his weekly "wrap up" was the one thing I was looking forward to the most. The level of professionalism is clearly shown. Excellent in grading.
I learned a lot about the research process and enhanced my research skills and confidence by taking this course.
I learned a lot about the research process in this course and appreciate the thoughtful feedback and APA assistance Dr. IL provided. She was quick to respond and provide clarification and assistance on questions I had.
She's in all the discussion weeks and you get to choose your project topic for the most part.
I really enjoyed Professor Leerburger's class. He is a great instructor and gives excellent feedback.
He is very nice and gives great feedback, really enjoyed his class
I NEEDED an extension due to personal reasons and he afforded it to me!! He grades promptly and more than fair. He's very experienced and knows his stuff. You'll enjoy this class, and if you need help, he'll work with you. Highly recommend.
Great teacher. Cares a lot about what she teaches, but is very clear on her expectations.
Professor Dr. Leerburger was professional in setting expectations in class. As one of my first classes for my Masters Degree, he was approachable and provided constructive feedback going forward. Really helped engage your critical thinkings skills and research methods.
He is incredible! A high-level educator with a wealth of real-world experience in a myriad of industries. His teaching style is more like a business partner and colleague than the typical stuffy professor pontificating from their proverbial "Ivory Tower".
Professor Leerburger has high standards when it comes to critiquing our writing assignments and although it may have seemed tedious and nit picky it was meant for us to learn and grow from our mistakes and I appreciated it.
Professor explains her feedback and is there to answer questions. She gives alot of feedback.
Professor is helpful and provides feedback for you to do better. She is in the classroom each day to answer discussions.
In my master's program at TESU, I never experienced a professor as caring, inspirational and credible as Dr. L as in well-respected in the industries he serves. Particularly amongst colleagues (gov & academia), and students. He taught me how to apply my learning at my job.
