Highly recommend this professor

Lefeld is a well organized, richly knowledgeable in not just Art, but in other fields of study as she used different subjects to help her class relate to Art and to gain the attention of those who may not have otherwise been too interested. Style is not only attention grabbing but crafted in a way that one leaves the class feeling inspired.

Almost all of the assignments are online, but you ABSOLUTELY must attend the lectures or you'll risk a drop in your letter grade. The lectures are most beneficial and fun when the whole class is participating in the discussions.

I love the arts, but not this class at all. Expect a lot of power points. Student's in class had no respect for her at all. They would sleep, text, & talk consistently. I believe it is because of how she behaved towards us as students. She tried to implement strict rules, but hard to take serious. Not organized. Hope she has improved.

Professor Lefeld is not only a great teacher but a great person! She is interested in her students and knows a lot about art. She is always well prepared for the class, her assignments are enjoyable and even though she expects a lot from her students, she is willing to help them achieve those goals. Class consists of powerpoints, lectures, and the occasional crossword puzzle. On various occasions she bribed us with candy and desserts to participate in class. Overall a great course to take and the professor is knowledgeable on almost every aspect of art.

Incredibly helpful outside of class; definitely some of the best face-to-face assistance I've ever gotten and probably will ever get. Professor Lefeld is a great professor. When first coming into this class, I did not care for art at all. But after being in this class, I feel so much more knowledgeable and inspired to learn more about art. Her Honors class was easy. Assignments are online. Lectures were easy to comprehend. And if you're a bad drawer (like me), don't worry.

Professor Lefeld is very knowledgeable about her field. She explains art terminology in a way that's very easy to understand. Her lectures have many artworks and she talks about them in detail. Expect group work inside and outside of class and projects. The homework and quiz is easy as long as you have read the chapter. Overall, she was a great!

I took Honors ARTS 1301 (Art Appreciation) with Mrs. Lefeld for my humanities credit. It was a straight-forward class with all lectures, standard homework procedures, and special assignments laid out from the beginning of class. However, art projects, guest speakers, and quizzes are not. Reading is REQUIRED in order to pass.

Professor Lefeld is an AMAZING Professor. She is very passionate about her subject and makes the lectures very engaging and thought provoking. I can guarantee you that you will develop an interest in art due to her teaching style. The assignments are very straightforward and easy to understand. If you can, definitely take her Honors class!

Professor Lefeld is truly passionate about what she does. Though I am not an Art major I enjoyed learning about the history of art. Her lectures are always fun and interesting to listen to. It is not a hard class but you do need to show up to class and do the assignments she gives you. If you do everything assigned you will pass class with an A.

Great summer class! She encouraged us to step out of our comfort zone when painting, and I really felt my painting improve. She's totally there for you and will answer all your questions and guides you, but without micromanaging or talking down to you. I felt like she taught us instead of lecturing us. It was truly a fantastic class!!

Marian Lefeld was a wonderful professor - she really pushed her students but balances it with letting the students work on their own and learn from their mistakes. She is very passionate about what she teaches, and gets genuinely excited when the student makes progress. I would definitely taker her again.

There are lots of assignments and quizzes. I took her online in a summer class and it was a lot of work but it was doable. Expect a museum review and several board discussions. She is a tough grader and pays attention to details.

Professor Lefeld is an excellent painting teacher. Will she make you work for your grade? ABSOLUTELY - as she should - EVERY teacher should! If you aren't taking classes to learn something then you shouldn't be in her class. She is passionate and dedicated and interested in ALL of her students. Take her class before a big university lures her away!

Professor Lefeld helped me discover what subject to paint and how to push myself to paint many paintings and refine each one. She is very knowledgeable with artists and examples of their work. She recommended certain artists whose work related to each student's paintings so each student could find inspiration.

If I could have picked more than 3 Qualities I would have pegged her as Inspirational. She really wants her students to succeed and begins her class by ensuring that all of her students feel confident and included in the discussion even if Art Apprec. is just a class you are required to take. I definitely have more of an interest in the subject.

I would recommend her to anyone (art and non-art majors). As someone with no art background I found her Art History I class to be engaging. She used an online testing/quizzing component for our class that was nice, but she is a great lecturer, and I think we all got the most out of the class when we were actually in class. I highly recommend her.

Prof. Lefeld is a wonderful professional who does her job seamlessly. She is an interactive teacher who enjoys feedback --so just participate and there should be no problems. She is also really easy to talk to and getting at least a B+ shouldn't be hard if you just do all the work.

She's a great teacher. She doesn't ask much of you and she makes sure you take care of all of your assignments . She also makes sure to help you as much as she cans when you are going through a tough time.

I took a painting class and Arts 1301 with her, so you can see how a good art professor I think she is. She really knows about her field and she is really interested in that her students learn. It's an easy and fun class, just do the assignments and participate in class. I would definitely take another of her classes. Excellent professor.

Professor Lefeld is very helpful. She would love you if you participate, no matter what you have to say about art, as long as you speak your mind. She is very passionate about the subject and loves discussion. The only thing that I wish she did was to remind us of the homework deadline. Don't buy the textbook! Best Proffessor I have ever had. I hated art when I started the class but by the end of the semester, because of how she teaches passionately I ended up falling in love with art! No tests, just online quizzes and she is really fun when she teaches her student. Take this class if you want to have a good teacher, enjoyable learning and a good grade.

When I came to this class I thought it would be an easy A. Man it was the hardest class I took so far and boring. I was taking Bio and Chem still harder then them. If you want an easy A don't take her but you want to learn about Art history take her.

Took online course Spring 2016. Professor Lefeld is great. Assignments are clear, she follows up, replies quickly to emails and gives good feedback. You will need to read the book and finish your assignments on time. Overall, interesting class and good support.

If you want an easy A then DO NOT TAKE HER. If you want to learn about art then take her. That simple and her attendece is crazy if you miss 5 classes you failed. HINT HINT take her online

Best Design class ever. Really good at the disappointed look when your project is incomplete. Attendance and prompt arrival to class time is important. Really good about emailing class about anything important. Cares about Art and about her students. Consistently there if you have questions. Learn or fail class. Always has a pot of coffee ready.

She is a good professor. She lost her temper just once in the class because some students were not responsible enough. Anyway, she is awesome!

SHE IS AMAZING. I absolutely loved her class, she is extremely passionate on what she teaches. She is also very understanding and cares a lot for her students unlike other professors. Took this class online for summer 2 session. Very self-explanatory. Read the chapter then do the homework/quizzes. She was awesome herself, she advised us that if we got all of our work done in 2 weeks, (trial period) we didn't have to purchase the art program. I was able to save $90+. She also reset a quiz for me. Great class!

She gives great feedback and does not grade too harshly. This class was tough because it was crammed into 4 weeks. Lots of work to get done in a short amount of time.

Mrs. Marian Lefeld is one of the best teachers I have had at Richland. She is very clear at what she expects therefore, you will never be lost at what you are to do. Lectures are long but class participation makes them go faster. She is hilarious and my class had lots of laughs! She is genuinely caring and understanding !!!

Marian was really sweet, she genuinely cared about us. She could tell I had some anxiety and gave me tips to help me with it, and she was sweet when she talked about our artwork, she would critique honestly but she was always praising. When you have that class for 3-4 hours, at can be a bit taxing, but it was overall a good time.

I walked into this class scared of the unknown. Being a science major I didn't care much for art. I took the class just because I needed the credit to graduate. Prof. Lefeld really knows her stuff. She helped me change my point of view about art. She gives 2 tests and 1 final. Prepare for in-class discussion. She gives constructive criticism.

This class is very structured which I didnt like at first but it ended up really challenging me, and I learned a lot from it! I would have never produced some of the work I did if it weren't for her. If you are looking to really improve as a painter and get out of your comfort zone then this class is for you.

Online self paced class May 15-June 2. Not much time, so start early. Paced self too slow at start and almost ran out of time. Online adaptive learning fun ... finished within 14 day free access before starting Discussion Boards, etc. Instructor seemed super nice through text and email. Subjective grading generous. Or my writing is just that good.

Prof. Lefeld is amazing! I took her for Maymester and don't regret it at all. She is very specific on the material & how important it is to complete the assignments in a timely manner. A lot to read but it was a wonderful learning experience & she is quick to answer emails. Do the work and you will get a good grade. Very easy and interesting class.

Amazing Professor! Really passionate about arts and she cares about her students, too. I take this class online, and there wasn't any tests or exams. The only thing that we had to do was LearnSmart, discussion broads, Collage, Museum visit assignments. And 6 Unit assignments, which might be a little difficult but not impossible to make an A in.

If you are genuinely interested in art then take her. If you are not then she will make you feel like an idiot by making you do presentations and call on you for your analysis on some piece of art, which you might or might not understand. My advice is to take her online as there is no attendance and the workload is pretty doable.

She is extremely passionate about art, so if you bs, she will know. I finished before the free trial ended, so i didn't have to spend money on a book. I took her from Maymester, it was easy. The last Unit assignments are challenging and you're not able to look it up. But EASY A. just a hard grader on the discussion boards, you should easily pass

I took this class for Maymester and though there was a lot of work, it was really worth it. I learned so much and became aware of many things around me. She was clear on grading, gave a calendar, and provided feedback on assignments. She'll not only talk to you as a student, but also as a person. Amazing woman with such an open personality.

Everyone said it's easy to get an A if they submit assignments on time. However!! I submitted all of them on time, did them by all my effort but still receive poor grades. A lot of assignment were given and they were all DIFFICULT.

I took Professor Lefeld for three different classes (one painting and two art history) and let me just say, she was so funny and cool. I loved her classes. Lecture was never boring and the painting was always so fun. She is so passionate about her subjects and her enthusiasm is positively contagious. Cannot recommend enough!

Have to read the entire textbook. All quizzes are based off of book. Easy stuff if you read. Also has DBs and essays. Writing assignments are fairly easy if you pay attention (like all other classes I guess).

Took this class for my art credit, and even though I dreaded it, ended up having a great experience. She makes art interesting, there are no dull moments. The final is visiting a museum and writing about two artworks. Did not expected that I was going to enjoy it so much going to a museum. Hadn't been in one since I was in elementary school.

The content of Prof. Lefeld's painting classes is so good - I have learned so much! We have time to paint and get feedback during class as well. I have taken 3 classes from her. The workload isn't too much, but if you want to continue to improve at art, you have to put the time in. Great feedback, and she cares. Love her classes.

I had professor Lefeld several times over the years, including during the pandemic. She is always happy to help students, even if it's not art related. I could not have asked for a more involved and caring teacher. She even hosts the art club and gives extra credit to those that attend. I highly recommend her to any student looking for a fun class.

The workload for this class is fairly simple however you will have to read a textbook in order to answer the InQuizitive assignments. 10 InQuizitives 5 art projects and 1 final paper.also she will accept late work until the end of the semester. A bit tedious but easy
