Looke like Prof. Miles wrote this one herself. Nobody I know talks like that.
Hahaha. Well I agre that looks like she wrote that herself, im actually sure she did! Anyways, none-the-less I found her to be an excellent prof.
Great teaching style & attitude. Very willing to help outside of class although amount of work was more than necessary for this kind of stuff(assignment or quiz every week). Course material was still uninteresting in the end but what can ya do about econometrics. Anyway, great prof all around.
I agree the assignments were kind of overload, but they were by no means hard! Quizzes and tests were fair - pretty easy actually. Very approachable. Great teacher!
Great prof with great notes and good teaching style!
great prof! Very willing to help outside of the class. The lecture is a little bit boring. The tutorial class is very important.
I stopped going to class, I kept falling asleep. Assignments and tests aren't too bad, and its all in the book and online anyway.
A pretty good prof. Very helpful and actually cares that her students learn and do well. Assignments were easy, as were the midterms. Final was a little harder and long. I don't think anybody finished it. Everyone was still trying to write like mad when there was 30 seconds left of exam time. Still, take this class from her, it's worth it.
She's willing to help sometimes but her lecture's boring. The final was hard.
She uses the textbook's powerpoint slides. She doesn't create her own notes. She reads directly from the slides. The material is very dry. Emphasis on dry. The only time worth going to class is when she's going to give a practice miderm/final when she gives out the answer. Just read the textbook. And ask her questions during office hours.
I almost failed her class. Her lectures are very boring. If you aren't that great at mathematical concepts, stay away from this one (especially when you have engineering students who make the class average 90%). She has these aplia assignments she puts on BB that are due every week. I can say I learned more reading the book myself than going to cla
I thought this class was so bad. Terrible really. Absolutely NO relevance to economics. Plus it is so boring it makes you want to cry. I know its required, but do yourself a favor take it with someone else. Its actually easy but....Her voice will haunt you in your dreams!
very boring and dry, reads right from her powerpoint slides, which are not even hers she takes them from the text book. Tests are all m.c. but a little hard, final was really hard. the assignment questions are way easier than the ones that are on the exams. I'd suggest getting a diff prof but econ is boring anyway so what can you do?
Fairly bland lecturer, but she definitely knows her stuff. Perfectly possible to get a good mark in the course by avoiding class altogether and just going from the textbook and slides.
Pretty easy class. Lectures are really boring since she just goes over the powerpoint slides. There's really no point in acturally going to class. She gives you 10 aplia assignments instead of 5 like the other classes which is a little annoying. Do the assignments and you should have no problem with this class. Id say take it with Tracy if you can!
LOTS of work required for 395- including a lab sec (attendance), 2 online weekly quizzes, group assigns& studying for exams. Final is difficult. Material is covered in fine detail. If you study A LOT you will do well. Dr.M is nice but has a tendency to favour A students in email responding. If you make efforts to improve she will raise final grade.
Miles is very straight forward when she explains things, its almost impossible not to understand what she is talking about. Bout half the class decided not to come to the lectures, but I kept going just to reinforce the ideas that were presented in the textbook. She also trys hard to make class entertaining at times, by playing little games with th
Horrible Prof! Lectures are straight from power point, power points don't help you. It is self taught. Aplia assignments up the ying yang when it is NOT needed. Lectures are boring and not interesting at all. Although she tries, games and prizes doesn't make the class interesting.
VERY BORING PROF AND HER FINAL IS SOOOOOOO LONG
She is very nice. I found it hard to pay attention during her lectures, but when I did, it was helpful. One on one questions during the tutorial or office hours were very clear and helpful. LONG TESTS. I needed to study the textbook a lot to succeed in this course. The powerpoint slides made for a nice review when studying.
I stopped going to class after 1 month simply cuz there was no point to them. However the tutorials were none the less very important and the sole reason why i passed. where as She just reads off powerpoint and everyone can do that at home. Practice midterms that she handed out were very helpful and so were the tutorials.
Worst prof I have ever had. Reads straight from the powerpoints which are posted online. No point in going to class. Her midterm was easy if you did the practice midterm, but her final was awful. I dropped 15% because of the final. Dont recommend this prof at all.
Shrill monotone voice. Read the powerpoints word for word. Made the midterm super easy and then the final came along and raped everyone. Go for Tracey or Shlenker.
I thought she was an overall ok instructor. I definitly improved my computer-econ efficiency by thaking this class. Miles was always willing to help students out with problems during and outside of class time. The biggest negative is the high grading skill she has for all her courses.
If you need help sleeping attend this class. You will be out within minutes. Most boring lecture I have ever attended.
super boring, monotone, not helpful at all really. basically taught myslef the class.
do not take this class. you will want to shoot yourself in the foot every single day of your life.
This class is horrible- it is not worth attending. it is more efficient to read the textbook on your own time-assignments are easy marks. midterms are not too hard- often there are exact questions from practice midterms she hands out. FINAL WAS LONG AND ROUGH- o and her voice is the worst thing you have ever heard- it will honestly haunt you!!!!
I love this pro so much! She explains everything very clearly n willing to help students either through emails or in person. I learn a lot in her class. She is so kind. Love her. I recommand u to take her classes.
Well there was noooooo point in even going to her class since everthing you need to know is on the powerpoints she provides (which she doesnt even make herself the powerpoint does) She is a nice lady but not that effective as a professor
Prof Miles is a good prof but her lectures are pretty boring. Don't need worry about making notes because the powerpoint notes she posts are good. Assignments, midterm and final are pretty easy if you read the notes and understand it.
She was awesome and very very helpful. If you have to take this class she is the one to take it with!
I have to agree with some of the guys - her repugnant voice is probably the most negative factor in her lecturing. If only that, but the way she presents material is totally uninteresting, and regardless of how hard I tried to pay attention to her narration, I always ended up with my own thoughts, and most of what she said went past me. BAD teacher
This class was boring, but the prof was very good. Helpful and easy to understand.
proff. miles is one of the most boring proff ever but at the same time she is very good at teaching. Very clear and easy to understand. her lec notes are good so you don't need to make notes. to do good in midterm and final make sure to do practice exam questions more than half of the questions are exactly the same in exams.
Her voice will annoy you but she is extremely helpful and always willing to answer your questions. Posts online study guides before each test that was very helpful. You will have to work hard in the class to do well, since there is an assignment or midterm basically every week.
The class isn't engaging and by the midterms half the class stops coming. The online practice quizzes, the book and the slides are your best friends in this course
This prof is AMAZING! a very hard class, but if your an econ major its something you gotta face. take it with her. She explains very well and is available for questions. I went in praying for a B- knowing how hard the class was going to be. I owe my "A" to her. GREAT PROF!
DOnt take this class with her
The class is ridiculously boring, but she posts all her power points on blackboard. Also the aplia assignments really help. You don't really need to attend class. But she is always willing to help.
Good Prof. Boring class
Bad prof ... I learned nothing from her. She put her powerpoints online only AFTER she was done going through them, which was useless when doing assignments. I ended up making my own notes in the end. Her voice is also very annoying.
Through her detailed notes, relevant practice problems, and consistent effort to be available to students outside of class time, Dr. Miles makes up for certain deficiencies in teaching style. I would recommend Econ 311 to any student--Econ or otherwise--as its utilization of Excel is incredibly beneficial in the workplace.
She is always willing to help students. First midterm is very similar to the practice test. We did not have practice tests for second midterm or the final. But she prepared the class pretty well, and go through the study guide and do those practice questions. You will not regret it!
She may not be the best lecturer out there, but she always available for help. Her exam questions are somewhat similar to the assignments and practices.
Great course, she teaches you everything you need to do well on the midterm and final.
Of all the sections to take 395 with, Miles is your best bet in order to pass this course and have a reasonable understanding of what you're learning. If you go to every class, take the time to do each assignment and attend PASS sessions, you cannot fail. Just be prepared to take on a heavy statistical work load; so don't have other heavy courses.
Even if you are not familiar with Excel, Dr. Miles goes the extra mile to make sure you understand everything that is going on class. Assignments were fair overall (second one was the hardest) and the midterms were somewhat difficult. Final was surprisingly easy if you knew most of the stuff she did in class.
If you can get past her annoying voice and bad attitude she's really good. Don't focus on the slides in class just listen to her and copy down what she puts on the blackboard and then look at the slides for review. Text and questions really help.
Super easy class I would recommend it to anyone. Plus you only need an 85% for an A in the course. Prof Miles is very helpful and responds to all questions. She cares about your well-being as is willing to do whatever to help you achieve your goals in the course. Highly recommend taking her class.
Good prof. Lectures are boring, but slides come online so you dont have to go. Uses slides and textbook for aplia assignments. Her voice is annoying but she is nice and willing to help students. Midterm and final were easy and similar to the practice ones. If you can't get tracy shes not bad choice.
Terrible professor. Attended in total 4 of her classes. Had to learn entire course on own because going to lectures were useless. My friend recieved a 0 on his final and went to appeal. Clearly he DID NOT get 0/100 marks so he emailed her. She absolutely refused to change his mark and left it as is. Selfish prof and doesn't care about her students.
I'm normally a very academically-driven student. Marian Miles is the first professor I have had at the U of C (and I've had some doozies) that I found to actually have me hate learning. She is inefficient in her teaching methods and is not an interesting teacher. I had to do a majority of my learning on my own time, despite going to lectures.
She uses in-class assignments. At the end of the semester, if we've done all the in-class assignments and we're teetering on 89, she'll give a 90. She follows the textbook pretty word for word so if you don't go to class it's alright. Her homework is also from the textbook. She doesn't teach well though.
Meh. Everything she uses in online so there's no real value in attending lectures. She cannot figure out technology, it's cute. She's nice though. Do the review packages she gives out, she literally takes the questions word for word from them for the exams.
She was not a very good teacher, whenever you asked questions she either sounded irritated or treated you like you we're 5. Also she assumes you have background finance knowledge and won't answer the question you ask through emails. If you ask for help with an assignment she never actually answered my questions, just babbled about something else.
Horrible, horrible prof. Literally reads off her notes. Avoid at all cost.
She is an okay Prof. Her lectures were pretty useless, everything you need to know is in the textbook. Aplia questions were pretty easy marks. If you want to actually learn something from the lectures take this class with someone else.
Great proff explains stuff well lectures are not terrible but may seem a little dry overall great prof would take a class again with her!!!! Tip if your really bored in her class bring a tablet and play games.
Great proff explains stuff well lectures are not terrible but may seem a little dry overall great prof would take a class again with her!!!! Tip if your really bored in her class bring a tablet and play games.
she cannot teach
Miles Econ 201 class is super easy. Attendance is not mandatory, just study her powerpoint slides and you will be more than prepared. Respond quickly to emails and is quite helpful in office hours. I strongly suggest not going to class, her voice is annoying and it not useful. Good easy prof though.
Follows the textbook and companion slides almost exactly. She has a really high, grating voice and her lectures aren't very interesting. It got difficult to pay attention later in the semester. BUT study the slides, textbook, and practice exams and you will be totally prepared for her tests. Fairly easy prof, would recommend overall.
Assumes you already know what shes talking about, this is an introductory course. Powerpoints arent even hers and her examples are not only hard to see but understand. Moves through topics very quickly and the tests are very difficult. Relies too much on applia than the textbook.
Marian speaks and talks to the class slowly like we are kids. She will help you if go see her. She does some examples but it is way better to go to PASS session where you do lots of practice questions. First midterm is fairly easy, second one and final are harder. Tons of theory to know. Study assignment questions rigorously.
Speaks extremely slow. I studied the whole course out of the textbook and found that I understood concepts more when I didn't go to lectures. She doesn't post lecture slides beforehand and notes are hard to keep up with
Highly recommended to take 395 with. She explains concepts very well and in depth so you can understand the tremendous amount of theory. She is extraordinarily helpful.
Professor Miles is clear with explaining concepts and extremely kind and helpful if approached after class or during office hours. Her lectures cover mostly theory, would highly recommend attending lecture. Tons of resources posted on blackboard. PASS sessions are probably the most helpful thing for ECON 395. Would recommend to take with Miles.
If you must take 395, take it with Marian and Marian only. She is a pure genius who will do anything in her power to help out her student. This is a tricky course but she makes her availability flexible so students can see her when needed. Great prof, I'd definitely take more courses with her!
I took this course in the spring, heavy course load. 5 assignments and 1 midterm in a 6 week period. Miles will do anything to help you out though. 40% theory 60% math. No PASS sections so lecture is very important. Tests are straight forward and very easy if you know your stuff. No trick questions. Only prof you should take 395 with
She is an amazing prof! Take her for as many courses possible! As an econ major, I find that she really explains the theories and concepts in-depth, isn't the one who gives you the min to pass. 395 was not an easy course (PASS is mandatory!) but she was there to help the whole time. I took 311 in the spring and she made everything so easy.
Marian was extremely helpful for this class. While the lecture was dry and confusing at some times, she made everything very clear in her office hours. Assignments are difficult.Heavy course load, 5 assigments and one midterm and final in the spring semester, I would recommend taking this class in spring and make it the only class in spring.
Very good and fine to look at
Marian is a decent prof. She is there for help if you need it, responds to emails quickly, and marks the midtermfinal within 24 hours. Her lecture can be a little boring, but the notes on D2L are useful, in case you miss a class or don't understand something.
Her lectures are fine for the first while, but eventually it becomes impossible to pay attention because she speaks so slowly and without emotion. Doesn't use her own powerpoint, reads off the slides and doesn't have a consistent pace. After a month i went to class but didn't pay attention at all, but 201 is super easy and the textbook is good.
Read the textbook or listen in lectures (Especially near the end). She's a really straight forward prof; she tells you what is specifically on the test and what you need to focus on. The assignments are rather lengthy (40Questions each 4 assignments). The tests are easy if you pay attention and STUDY hard! Should be an easy A.
She is great! She replies to your email really quickly and also tries her best to help students. However, her lectures are somewhat useless and I studied basically by myself for the tests. I still recommend her though
I would say this class is pretty easy if you keep up with the reading and homework. The assignments are easy as there multiple choice and you get several days to complete it! I found the midterm pretty easy, but the final was definitely harder and worth 50%. I would suggest doing all the practice questions she gives to you before the exams
Awesome prof, really helpful, really clear and all around just a wonderful person. The class isn't easy, you have to work for it, and you'll get a good grade if you do
I enjoyed my semester with Prof. Miles. She teaches you straight from the official lecture notes of the textbook. Her pace is slow, her explanations are crystal clear. Assignments are easy and are worth 30% of the final mark. Everything in the course is multiple choice. I never needed any help outside the lectures. She made the course very easy.
This wasn't a very exciting class but she was very helpful if you ever needed to ask her a question and gave clear answers back. In class she went over the important info and good examples. She didn't give hints but she only taught what was on the exams. Exams were decently easy.
Super easy, good real world skills
Expect a boring class. Marian is a sweet woman but her class is very uninteresting and will put you to sleep. Read the notes and you're fine. Read the textbook if you really wanna be a keener.
Marian is an extremely good professor. Having had her now for ECON201/311/395/495 I can say her slow pacing allows for complete understanding of very difficult concepts. ECON495 is an extremely hard class, and she is always available for assistance and help. Gives very good feedback on assignments, and extremely clear for material on exams.
Amazing professor, always explains everything in detail and goes over material to make sure everyone understands.
A really simple course. Barely need the textbook as long as you follow the slides.
Marian is an awesome teacher who really knows her stuff. She is extremely approachable and will readily offer help whenever necessary. The only downfall to her is that she relies on some crappy slides when just her teaching would be a lot more effective. Otherwise, a great proff.
For anyone out there who has a hard time paying attention. STRONGLY AVOID. I attended every lecture but she is a very slow and boring speaking teacher. I will say though that she is an extremely nice lady who would break her back to help you but it's hard to stay engaged. Listen to her examples and write them down they help a ton.
I skip all her classes and study on my own! She has included the most chapters among other ECON lectures. There are 22 chapters in the book, and she includes 19 chapters this semester! Really long homework! My friends have like only 9 chapters to review. It's unfair Take care, man
Loved her as a person, very nice and helpful lady. However, lectures weren't always very engaging and I would end up teaching myself. But, do pay attention to in-class examples as they really help. She sometimes gives surprise opportunities for extra credit for those who attend class. Notes are on D2L and assignments are on Mindtap (need subscrip.)
This course is harder than you might expect but it is so worth it. Marian knows everything there is to know about excel and is great at answering questions and responding to emails. I learned so much and it was all thanks to Marian. She is very student-oriented while respecting prof-student boundaries. This is the only reason some find her aloof.
This isn't an easy course but Marian teaches so well. We covered so much very thoroughly. We always over studied for her very fair exams. Though there were 5 mandatory assignments, they weren't as challenging and time consuming as in 395. Stick together and ask lots of questions. This is a must-take course for anyone who wants to be an economist
Very knowledgeable prof, will give you practice midterms and finals, and some of the questions from the test are taken straight from these practice tests. Even though she is kinda boring to listen to, but if you do the assignments (which are long) and practice tests you should do fine, all notes are online also. Final wasn't bad. Good prof overall.
Although knows her stuff, her lectures quite boring and monotonous. The slides for lectures are posted on D2L & are very useful. Basically, you just gotta remember to do her assignments on Mindtap & read the textbook for exams. She also tells beforehand roughly what should be expected from the exams. Also, show up to class for practice quiz answers!
Easy, but not as easy as I expected. She's the only economics professor who uses Desire2Learn properly, which is pretty nice.
Not the best prof. Her lectures are long and boring and she doesn't teach the course very well. If you are able to teach yourself the material you will do just fine
Honestly she's the absolute worst. I have a 4.0 GPA and this class is a gong show. She piles all the chapter till the very end and doesn't even put the lecture notes up when she teaches! So boring. DO NOT take this class as an option.
Stay away! This class was horrific. Taught with a strong/blatant politically conservative leaning. Only help from prof or TA is being told to reference book & online material. Lecture slides, assignments & exams are made by textbook publisher. Prof doesn't take the time to read ahead to know what comes next in her lecture. No help w/ math provided.
Great prof, goes through all the material thoroughly in class so you barely have to study. Easy A if you just show up and listen during lectures
She teaches using power points, which she posts online after class. The power points have all of the material needed for the course which is nice but she goes through the slides too fast for you to be able to write anything important down. She posts practice tests online that have a lot of questions that were used on the actual exams.
This class was a LOT of work for an intro class. Don't do it!
For Econ 201, the prof really does not matter. EVERYTHING is on mindtap, and if you can read, you can pass. Go to the lecture just prior to the exam for answers to the practice test, and then DO the practice test because there are many questions that are the EXACT same as what's on the exam. Use mindtap, do the practice exams, and you're set!
Attendance isn't mandatory, since she does powerpoint lectures based on the chapters in the book. You'll get the same content reading the textbook when you do the Mindtap assignments. She has dry lectures if you do choose to go, but it is somewhat helpful seeing the graph concepts written out on the board. Do her practice tests.
Dr Miles is pretty good. Her lectures are sometimes dry but that's because the course is pretty straight forward and doesn't require that much explanation. I would still advise to attend class for a while and see if you like her instructing style. Midterm is pretty easy, however the assignments are long. The final is fair and requires some studying
Marian is a good choice for this class. She is nice and grading is fair. Lectures can get boring, and are skip-able if you put in the effort outside of class. She is a bit boring but this is offset by the ease of the course. Make sure you study the online quizzes/assignments in order to prepare for the tests.
Took for summer class, taught things for assignment a lecture before assignment was due, didn't even finish midterm or final since she put too many questions on them, assignments take 20 hours to finish each, she rushes through lectures way to fast and expects everybody already knows how to do everything, would not take a class with her ever again
Marian is the hardest marking prof I have ever faced!! Her ways of teaching are not useful in any way. I attended each lecture and still had to review everything that was tought, because she isn't clear with her teaching skills or examples given in class. Would definitely not recommend taking this course with her.
Do not take Miles, worst prof ever
Went to class maybe twice... read right off of slides that were right out of the textbook, summarize yourself, do the assignments and it's a breeze. easy course for credits!
Awful prof, didn't go to the lecture because she taught directly off the textbook. Powerpoint slides were copied and pasted from the textbook. Very poor lecture and could care less about her 201 class.
This course was homework-heavy and the Mindtap assignments took a huge amount of time. That said, Prof. Miles is respectful and replies to emails promptly. Tests are fair. Studying hard is a must and there's a lot of work involved. However, there are not many "tricky" or ambiguous questions on tests.
Not an easy course and not an easy A. However, this is university so students complaining about workload should get a clue. Prof. Miles is a sweetheart and cares about students. Very organized with D2L and class material. Lectures are optional, grade based heavily on your 1 midterm and 1 final so hopefully you don't get sick those days.
Marian was an ok prof for this class. She spent too much time on the theory and not enough on the application. Overall the class was easy, but I didn't learn much.
As an econ major, I'm so glad I took ECON 395 with Marian. She made some of the most difficult material I've ever encountered accessible and clear - which is no easy feat, since this course is a HUGE step up in difficulty from any previous econ/stats courses. If you attend every lecture and go to PASS, there's absolutely no reason you can't excel.
I took this course during the spring and it's definitely important to keep up with the material. The assignments are long and frustrating, but are crucial to understanding. Material is dry , but Miles makes it fairly clear cut and is helpful with one on one questions. You'll probably have to put in work on Google to get an hold of harder concepts.
Lectures are bland, she posts her notes on D2L and everything is copied straight out of the textbook. Dont need to show up to class, went to the tutorial instead and learned a significant amount more.
Her lectures are just the copy of PowerPoints and Not interesting you have too read the text boom to understand otherwise you get the concept.
She just read the PPT that not even her own. The lecture is not useful at all. Even you go to lecture every day, you still need to read the textbook because she only touches the concept a little. During the lecture, there is not enough examples, only concepts base, so it is hard to understand. Not recommended.
This class you basically teach yourself, and could be an online course. Her slides are directly from the textbook, as well as the assignments, and if you want to understand anything you need to read every chapter of the textbook on your own time. Lectures were pointless and dry.
Not very impressed with the lecture . She doesnt explain very well just read from the power point which is not hers.
So far I have not learnt in this class. I am very confused because all she dose just read from the power points which are the copy of the book. she explain briefly. From the lecture you do not get the concept and the test is hard.
Based on her lectures you are in your own. Because you dont learn that much from lectures( basically she just read from the power point ) . You must read you text book.
The midterm has 45 question, and 22 of them are calculation question. you have the write fast otherwise you don't have enough time to finish all the question. Most of the question is similar to the practice midterm, there is little detail need to watch out which take time to consider the question. The questions are not hard but time-consuming.
Awful prof. Very difficult to listen to and don't learn much from lectures, if you get her drop out or get ready to read the textbook a lot
Did not feel prepared for the midterm at all. We had 50 minutes to write 45 questions, and about half were calculation based, giving you barely enough time to finish. On top of that, she wasted a bit of time at the beginning explaining how to write the midterm, which made me and a lot of other people I talked to extremely crunched for time

Horrible prof. Midterm was 45 questions in 50 minutes with 22 of them being calculation questions. Most were multi step calculation questions. Even though the class average was "the worst the department has ever seen, EVER." there is no curve because it is all the students fault obviously.
You dont learn anything from the lecture. Even though I studied hard for the midterm still so confused and dont get what is going on because you dont learn that much from the lectures.
Marian is a great professor! It is clear that she genuinely cares about the success of her students and she is willing to go out of her way to help anyone. The material covered in the course is quite dry, but thats not her fault. She does her best to keep things interesting! Would highly recommend!
lots of useless homework. I personally did not learn anything from the assignments they are waste of time. also the lecture is not helpful. get ready to read the text book by your self
The Econ 203 is not a hard course, to be honest I didnt learn anything from her lectures. Looks like she doesnt care if you understand or not. I ended up no going to lectures and reading the text book. Which is confusing when you really dont understand the concepts . However, the tutorial sessions are helpful also midterm avg was 62%.
Her lectures are her just reading off the slide so they end up being unhelpful and you will just be forced to read the textbook and learn the entire course on your own. In econ there are lots of graphs and she doesnt really explain them well making the content more difficult than what it is. would not recommend! At all.
Does not care whether students do well or not. Midterm average was 61 and she took no responsibility, just claimed that none of us are working hard enough. She does not even use her own lecture notes she just skims through the lecture slides made by the textbook creator. Easy course but she makes it a lot harder than it needs to be.
There is lots of homework and the point of the homework is to use ur knowledge that u learn from the lectures. But most of the class didnt learn anything from her lectures cause she is reading from the lectures notes. We dont need a prof who reads the note out loud during the class. we wanna a prof who can actually teach us the concept.
She reads off the slides and speaks to the class like we are in the fifth grade. No point in going to class. If a PASS session is on I would suggest reading the textbook and going to those for help. Her lectures are a complete waste of time.
I took this class as an elective during the Spring. Marian is a tough grader, and her classes are very dry. Her assignments are LONG, but not difficult if you know the content. With that being said, she is kind and respectful to students. She's always willing to help with any specific questions, and replies to emails promptly.
She is overall a good prof. TBH I thought the lectures were kinda boring but they were very informational, and she will go over things if you don't understand. However, you would be fine just reading the textbook and not going to class. Practice midterms are like the real one so that is very helpful! overall I would take another of her classes.
The driest class I have ever taken. She basically reads every single word off of the PPT the author of the book. She assigns too many assignments, which requires buying the online access of the book. Overall, HATED that class with her.
I found ECON 201 to be a relatively easy class in terms of content, but Marian Miles definitely does not assist in your understanding of the class. Everything you will ever need to know is in her lectures slides, attendance and the textbook are certainly not mandatory to do well in the class. Most exam and assignment questions can be found online.
Okay, hear me out. Miles is good at reading off the slides and not explaining, when you think she's explaining, it's on the next slides. Btw, she won't give you extra resources to study besides the textbook or her slides or maybe one or two past finals. The econ curve is also huge, so avoid taking this if it's an option, if it's a prereq, then GL.
Professor Miles was definitely a very dry professor in which she would only read of the slides which were copied from the textbook. She assigns to many assignments and wasn't as supportive towards students. The bell curve was absolutely unfair and huge. Her midterms and exams are based off mindtap and other online resources.
