Awesome teacher; would take her class again
she does not teach and she consider students who do not get math stupid.and tons of tons of homework.and test is so hard and average is always D
she calls students stupid and she can not even explain math well. worst teacher ever
I had to repeat her class. She's nice, but won't hold your hand throughout the class. There's quite a bit of homework, but if you actually DO it(which I didn't the first time), you'll do well. She always goes over hw in class and gives lots of help.
Mariana went the extra mile and met students on the weekend so they could understand the material. What teacher does that?!?! If you value what you are studying, then every class is easy & fun. Don't blame teachers for your own lack of effort & f
she's very helpful if you ask for the help and or need it. she just gives a lot of homework. if you go to class and pay attention you will get it.

wrost teacher ever
She is no very good at all. Shoule be doing something else other than teach.
She should be serving drinks or food. Maybe there is an opening at Appleby's. She can use her math skill. "Sir do you want one drink or two?"
She needs a complete make-over. new hair, new clothes, new makeup. Maybe a baseball cap and blue jeans would be cool.
MS. VOICU IS OKAY AND NOT TOO BAD.
Hardest teacher I've ever taken. While very helpful and fair, she overworks people. She does a really bad job at trying to expain concepts. It seems at times she doesn't know what she's teaching. Still if you're up for a challenge, this is your teacher.
All she did was complain about us, her students, and how horrible we were to her. She doesn'y explain things AT ALL and seems she just wants to get the class over with. She has a lot to learn about teaching. The class is pretty hard.
Shes an okay teacher, but is pretty difficult.
Mariana is really nice both as a teacher and a person. All her final questions were from the previous exams.
she was unclear and couldn't explain the material at all
very bad teacher.
HOrrible teacher, although i wouldnt mind making out with her=P
By far the worst teacher I have had the displeasure been instructed by. When asked questions, she would quickly give up and tell students to "look in the book. I understand it, why don't you?". After failing her course, I easily recieved a B
prety bad
awful teacher
She is the worst teacher. really mean and does not make any sense
nery bad teacher. doesn't know her information just teaches from book. very hard to unerstand and wanders from topic often. cant explain problems.

This class is hard, and I don't really like the layout of it. There have been a few times where she didn't teach us things that ended up on tests. Prepare to do a lot of homework. She is a really sweet person, and cares about her students.
horrible. horrible. horrible. and she is not sweet and does not care about her students. she gets upset when you dont understand her and hates you asking questions.
I dont know what the rest are talking about. She is a very helpful teacher and is there for you. She gives out alot of homework, are we not in college people? AWESOME TEACHER!!
Very bad teacher.
HORRIBLE! Does not know how to teach properly, Has a very strong accent and is hard to understand her! Good luck if you're stuck with her!
Yah, its hard, but if you're getting a bad grade in this class, it's your own fault- Mariana is very helpful & does her best to help everyone succeed. Go to her office hours! She teaches exactly what she wants you to know and her tests are based off hwrk.
Not a good teacher. Please, take someone else. This person is very critical and puts students down for not knowing stuff.
Very awesome instructor. Very helpful. I'd even ask her out for a date. Those who say she's a bad teacher are wimps. This class ain't for Jr. High Schoolers.
Best math teacher I've ever had - there is no way around this subject, it is a pain in the a$$, but she is helpful and cares a lot about the students. If you seek her help, she will help you. Good class, hard subject, great teacher!
a nightmare of a teacher and not hot at all.
oh she's fine, yeah she gives a ton of homework, but get off your butt and just do it, she'll help you if you're not a smart aleck. she's really sweet and really intelligent.
great teacher, alot better then all the other math teachers I've had since high school.
she's a really great teacher. just listen and take notes and ask questions and do the homework. yeah, it's a lot, but she's really helpful if you just ask!
Class was difficult but not impossible to get an A. Do All of the homework and show up for lectures. She uses homework problems as teaching lectures. Accent can make her semi hard to understand so make sure you get a seat in the front!
Excellent lectures which clearly spell out everything you would need to know about the subject. A lot of homework, but as long as you keep up with it and don't be lazy, this shouldn't be an issue. If you're looking for an easy A, look again, but this class is well worth the effort.
her class is pretty hard. she says she will miss me because i talk so much in her class. hahaha it was fun though, she is fun to talk to and make fun of her for fun. but dont go overboard. just have fun, but study and DO THE HOMEWORK. its an ok class.
I passed this class with ease because of Mariana. She was very helpful and clear, but you have to get used to her accent. Take this class if you had a difficult time in Math 010 because her instruction sytle es bueno.
She is a cool and funny, but I think she doesnt do a good job teaching. She makes lots of mistakes during the math problems on the board. You got to pay attention and really understand what she teaches in order to pass the class.
hard to understand. things were made too complicated
shes great, especially if you think mathmatically. she gives alot of homework but if you do it and pay attention in class it is not hard. plus she is very easy to ask for extra help. she is a fun teacher and she makes the classroom a very comfortable environment.
LOTS n LOTS of HW! U have to do it cuz she collects it all before each test and gives u points for it! I am a math wiz, but with Voicu.. i feel like a retard. She makes things complicated and doesnt explain efficiently at all. Expects u to remember most of everything u learned in HS.
B prepared to teach urself and do alot of studyin and homework. She will show u the easy part of each section, then the rest of each section is left 4 u to figure out. GREAT! Not an easy A, but it is possible. Quiz every week, HW every class meeting, n collected before each test.
This is a hard class. The tests are extremely hard. And she is definitely not hot, hell no.
Best Algebra teacher I've ever had. She gets to the basics and doesn't make anything more complicated than it needs to be.
very good teacher. Makes everything clear and understandable.
dont like her teaching style, pretty hard to do well in her class. she's not superhot, but i'd hit it.
This teacher sucks! She took a survey the other day to find out why all her classes are doing so bad!!! Hmmmm..... i wonder why?
She is a very difficult teacher and demands a lot from her students but will actually make you a stronger math student if you apply yourself. If you're lazy and don't have the ability to teach yourself I would find another teacher. She knows she has power and she loves to take advantage and see her students suffer. TONS of HW, tests, and quizes!
I think she's the best math teacher I've had at OCC (out of around 5 others). The class isn't easy but if you do the homework you will pass, which is why she collects it. I just wish she kept the tests consistent. The first half of them were multiple choice, the last half and final were not.
Smokin hot, awesome accent. You are basically handfed the material (preprinted notes) with every opportunity to ask for help. Homework reinforces concepts (DUH!) and the tests are a cakewalk if you've got a basic grasp of it, SAME as any other class. 170 is rigorous and covers lots of material. One of my best instructors to date. Very flexible!
difficult to understand her english, she favors students heavily, and if u do not show up to class, she does not like you.
Hard to understand and very confusing. I wish i would have registered for a different professor.

Voicu was a little inconsistent with her testing. For instance, we would quiz on a chapter after testing on it a week earlier. She is very wishy-washy with her lesson plans. If you are someone who struggles with math, this class will be difficult even if you complete all the homework and study. She doesn't answer everyone's questions either.
take someone else. she is so confusing and has no idea what the students questions are. she does examples only on the easy stuff and brushes over if at all the complicated parts. assigns like 100 problems a night. i had to drop because i couldnt stand listening to her and she doesnt realize that maybe shes the reason why most of her students fail.
SHE'S AWESOME!! Just be certain to apply yourself. The course is gonna be tough material, especially if you haven't been doing so well in algebra. However, she tries and makes certain questions from ANYONE are answered. DO HOMEWORK! It helps. She'll take care of your confusion, but you have to practice, and don't be shy to ask questions.
she is a very hot teacher and crazy accent but she gives you all the material you need very fun and good class
Well.....For the fact that half of the class dropped from failing out, then the remaining half got F's. I would say stay away, you will just have to take the class over so don't bother having her and save yourself some time.
Great attitude, friendly, always smiling, pretty hot, interested in helping her students through the class. The hardest part of her class is spending the time to do the homework...but doing it is totally worth it. Great prep for calculus in a relaxed (as long as you show up and put up) and fun atmosphere. Highly recommended!!
shes a pretty good teacher. she likes to make sure that everyone understands the matter and doesnt skip steps and understands that not everyone catches on fast. she likes to talk to the class about things other than math sometimes which is fun. overall shes a good professor

LOTS of hw!!!! quizzes are 10 points, usually once a week, test 25 questions (4pt each). class is really hard and lots of people are dropping out or doing pretty bad, but DO do the hw..it helps. you learn from working on the examples on the notes...again just sooo much hw! we have a life! argh
Its not the same as precalculus in high school and she needs to realize that. she assumes you know most of the stuff, even if its brand new so she blazes right through it. by the time you right the notes down, shes done talking and ready to move on to the next section - her tests are only 25 questions, she gives u NO MARGIN FOR ERROR "SAY WHAAA?"
Lots of HW. As with any math class, it's not too difficult if you study and do HW. I don't know what everyone is saying about her being hot though. Sick. Her voice gets on my nerves and that microphone barely amplifies anything. She's nice though, she's always willing to help. not a bad teacher at all.

SHES NICE BUT SUCKS IN TEACHING. DONT TAKE HER!!!
She is by far the worst Math teacher ever. The lecture, the quizes, the tests, everything is just horrible.
I take back all the bad things I said about her because she passed me with a 67%.
she is alright but her lectures are always unclear. She assumes that her students know everything she tought and that really pist people off. My advise is not to take her class.
She is a great techer. she is very clear and makes sure you understand the problems. I'm taking her class next semester.
She really loves math and she knows what she is talking about. Sometimes her accent makes it hard to understand what she is saying but doesn't mind being asked questions. Her test are on the hard side but they are all problems from the homework. I would recommend taking her.
Hard class. Passed only because i studied as if my life was on the line. Alot of people failed, tests are ridiculously hard. Even if you do the homework no guarantee you will understand the material. The book sucks, the class is just too long. I got tired of going everyday and you probably will too
who says memorizing the wrong way mrs. voicu 89 on final!!
Hard subject but she explained it very well. Do not take her in the morning or at least don't have class right after otherwise you will not have enough time to finish the tests. She does not let you use a calculator. You have to memorize everything and only 10 points extra credit during the semestr. I recommend
if you ask questions she will answer them , the test are mainly the very hard hw problems so just memorize how to do those and also pay attention to the hard examples she does in class i hadda **** at her because of how ridiculous her crap was but in the end i received a b in the class just keep up with the hw and study a day b4 the test
Teaches straight from the book. Very easy material. Tests are often times long and somewhat difficult. SHe uses HW problems on test. Very helpful.
ok teacher
Not clear and gives no extra credit. Seemed to want to make tests as difficult as possible instead of trying to help students pass. Some people worked really hard, attending every class and she didn't pass with a C, while half of the class only showed up for tests, and passed. Unfair grading policy. Wish I would have taken a different professor.
CRAZY lady, tricky tests..pretty much everybody bombed her class..except for a few UBER smart people >.< pooo!
Is very patient with students and wants to help them learn, but she is unforgiving on her tests. I found them to be very difficult because of the fact that you can do all of the hw that she assigns-but it does not prepare you for her tests. YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK.Do not rely on the notes she hands out.You must understandthetheory nt jst formulas
an ok professor. She is willing to answer any questions and is very patient, and she is nice too. However her exams are really hard, and the entire class passed the class with a C, except for few people.
GREAT TEACHER !
Quizzes every week. Tell us it's only on certain sections but tests on the entire chapter. Exams are multiple choice so there's no partial credit. Can't use calculators.
Nicest teacher! Super clear, steady pace, always willing to answer even the stupidest of questions a number of times. Really nice and patient. Will change your seat if you talk way to much, but usually waits long before doing that. There are no surprises. Test and quizes are just like the HW questions. Drops lowest test and quiz grade.Plus Ex. cred.
she is very patient. always willing to help with questions. kind of hard to understand b/c of her romanian accent. quizes are only 2 questions so know what you are doing. you are well prepared if you do hmwk.
Sunshine is an excellent teacher and a wonderful human being. She promotes a friendly and familiar classroom environment and communicates well. Her accent is awesome and she's amazingly hot. About one of the coolest teachers you will find.
not a good teacher at all.... all of her test problems are the ones u ask for help during class.. great idea isnt it? yeah i yelled at her in front of the class after attaining my 3rd 79 in a row which pissed me off. she herself couldnt even do the problem and had to use the solution manual to do a problem.
good teacher. she's very nic and is patient with her students. she gives a lot of homework, and the tests count A LOT. But if you attend class regularly and keep up with the assignments, you'll do fine. One of the best math teachers I've had.
dude, don't take this class unless your willing to pay attention and work really hard. The quizes aren't that bad, but the test can totally kill you. lots of h.w. and her teaching technique kinda sucks.
Very kind professor and she cares about the students' grades. Mediocre lecture, and she gives A LOT of homework. I barely passed with 70.0%, but mostly because I procrastinated. 5 exams throughout semester, and one quiz every week. If you do the homework, you'll do all right. If you hate homework, M. Voicu isn't the right professor for you.
makes it very easy to understand what you are doing! really wants to help everyone pass!
makes math fun
She's a good teacher. Explains things well, and helps you when you ask.
got an A in the class. amazing teacher. very helpful. gives a lot of hw. test qs are hw problems, but with different numbers. ask her wats on test and she will outline it for you. ask for examples and she will show you. amazing teacher! dont be afraid to ask qs on hw. called us children which was funny. good humor. friendly. take her!
She is nice and all but she can't really teach. I stuck it out in her class, failed, retook the class with another teacher and aced the class. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
So much homeworks but only worth little points. quizzes every week and only 3 questions. test grade is very important. her class is just seat there and watch her solve problems on the board, kinda boring. IF u good at test, take here class, if you hate homework and dont like test, dont take her class.
Chill Professor!! Knows Her Stuff and Teaches Well!! I missed too many classes and had to drop, but I will take her again next semester!! She is a great professor!! She gives a LOT of homework, like 6-10 hours a week, so be ready!!
She is REALLY good teacher. I never understand math and always got a B, but she explains math in such a good way that i pulled an A with ease. This class is so easy! The HW is not that bad if you just keep up with it. Save the Chapter Reviews to do the night before the test and you will do well. TAKE THIS CLASS. EASY A! Do HW-quizzes are easy
She is fast pace. Hard to understand her pronounciation of words. She is strict . She makes you put your backpack up front during tests and assigned seating where you are clostrophobic. She says "Querstions anyone?" waaay too often. She is the worst teacher I have had, by far.
First off everyone who rated this teacher good looking must have been in the wrong class because the teacher who taught me did not look HOT in anyway shape or form This class is hard way harder than it should be why you ask BECAUSE UNDERSTANDING THE TEACHER IS A BIG PART OF LEARNING in fact its a HUGE PART OF LEARNING AVOID like the plague
She does have an accent but anyone with a mind should be able to pass her class she gives you the notes and offers to help you if you dont understand. Don't sit there and not ask questions speak up. Alot of homework and quizzes but worth it, it helps do you work, ask for help, and you will be fine.
i took her last semester and didnt pass WOW. She gives out quizes every week they are only like 3 questions. Her tests are longgg and pretty hard do alll the homework ..even though she gives like 300 problems for homework which are only worth 10 points! if your good at math and willing to try hard i guess take her but if your ok at it big NO NO.
this class is wayyyyyyyyy easy (but i think partly 'cause I like Math). she's not that bad u guys. her quizzes are short and she grades pretty easy. Yes, you should do hw (even it's just a piece of points!) since most of the test problems are from hw and examples from lectures.
Doesnt take into consideration that students may have jobs and are taking other classes gives a ton of homework & quizzes. We had 3 tests & quiz in the last 6 days of class! Seems like she doesnt really understand math just likes to jump straight into solving problems faster than you can copy let alone understand. Over half dropped. DO NOT TAKE!
If you know all your calculus, don't need anyone to teach you, just need a class to take tests and do homework in to get this class over with, then take her. If you're expecting to learn something from her without any prior knowledge of calculus, then you are in a for a world of hurt. and a lot of homework.
Prof. Voicu is a good teacher, but you have to pay attention and do the homework. The lecture alone does not get you ready for her tests and quizzes. If you're lazy or have a tight schedule, it is highly recommended that you not take her. I got a C in the class, but I didn't study as much as I should have. If you want a bad teacher, take G. Moore.
She is a good teacher. you have to do the hw or else you will drown. i took her in summer school so it was intense. don't be lazy or else you wont pass.
Very difficult professor, hates student athletes. if u have a demanding job or ur an athlete, or u value ur personal life DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!!!! btw 240 problems of hw is only worth ten points!!
Awful teacher. I guess speaking fluent english isnt a requirement for teaching a math class. Very unclear and a lot of hw. Never covered anything thoroughly. STAY AWAY IF YOU LIKE GOOD GRADES!
Ms. Voicu is a really good teacher. Ok, the homework load is pretty heavy so if you like to only put minimal effort into your classes don't take her. But if you don't mind it, she's a really nice lady. Pay attention during lecture and she'll try to have fun with you. I recommend you take her.
she is da best romanian teacher ive ever had!!! seriously i love the way she teaches.. if u dont get it she wants to make sure you do.. plus lets not forget that her looks juss make u wanna pay attention ;)
She is a good math teacher. The students that say they hate her and make fun of her accent are just trying to hide the fact that they suck at math (no offense) :) There might be a lot of homework but she only checks that you tried. She's a great teacher because she cares and makes sure you get it before moving on. Take her!!
Offered 80 points of extra credit for doing the mathlab for 16 hours by the end of the semester. Very strict about attendance. Homework load is fair, however only worth 10 points a packet. No curveballs on tests or quizzes. Between the EC and dropping the lowest test score, passing is was a breeze even for a math dummy like myself.
She is one of the best math teacher i had ever had! This subject was a hard one for me at first, but hw makes it a lot easier. She is such a nice professor and really wants everyone to learn and do well in her class. loved this class!
Mariana rocks. She makes math extremely simple and her class is completely stress free. Only complaint is that she was late to every single class. No joke. Show up on time Mrs. Voicu!
She is semi-difficult to understand because of her Romanian accent. I didn't like her teaching at all, it was difficult to understand and when she tried to explain it didn't help at all. Homework was ridiculous. Don't take this teacher if you want to learn something and understand what they are trying to teach you!
Fantastic teacher. I got a "D" in high school in this class, took her for intersession at coast and got an A...I am not great at math, but she explains everything step by step and makes it very easy to understand. Best math teacher I have ever had. Take her.
Great teacher, lots of homework but it pays off at the end. Multiple choice makes it easier.
she's a very nice and helpful teacher. She knows her stuff. However, she is very high-demand person. If you really have time to spend for her class, you should do well. YOUR SELF-STUDY TIME and HOMEWORK is the key to succeed in her class. If not, don't take her. Hard to get an A !!!
She's very nice and helpful. She will answer any questions you have and make sure you get it. She wants everyone to do well so she has a very flexible grading system. Quizzes and tests are 100% off her in-class examples and hw so go to class and DO YOUR HW!!! Talk to her she's a really laid-back and cool person.
She is always willing to help. explains very well. tests & quizzes all from HW or problems done in class. But they are still SUPER HARD. You have to know everything inside and out to do well on tests. they r long. If you study alot & do all hw, you may do well. She is a great teacher though. u will learn alot. attendance doznt matter but helps alot
Very hard. A lot of studying and homework. She puts some of the harder problems from the homework on the tests and gives no study guide or review problems so in order to do well you MUST do the homework and study those problems. All that being said, I worked very hard and got an A.
She seems like a nice person, but her class was really hard. If you're not good at Math, don't take her. The only way to pass the class is to to do the 16 hours of Math lab extra credit. Which, if you're taking more than 12 units eats up all your time. Her tests are quite hard too. Take her only if you have no other choice.
the class is easy and she is a good teacher. if you are a math major i dont recomend her because the way she teaches is "monkey see monkey do" which means just memorize how to do all of the problems without knowing why. easy class, hard teacher.
If you go everyday and do the simple HW, you will learn how to do the problems and pass the class. She gives you many chances to earn points and pass the class. I am not interested in Math and I liked her style and I passed her class and now that I am in Math 030, I feel that Professor Voicu has prepared me well to pass this class also.
Really made me enjoyed math, just take all the notes and it was easy.Oh and going to the tutroing helped make it easier and was part of our grade.
Very hard and long test. Need to study very thoroughly. Not for people who aren't math majors. HW every day. Don't take her unless if you are a daredevil or have no choice. BEWARE!!!!
This is by far the most difficult professor I ever took. I'm a 3.5 g.p.a. student and never had to drop with a W till now. Tests are very hard. Lots of tricky and hard questions. Also she gives tons of HW. I wish I never switch Chan for her because for a better time, which I think was the worst mistake I ever made. Save yourself and avoid her.
Calculus 2 is a hard subject, but she isn't making it any easier. Tons of homework for little points. Tests are ridicously hard, espicially with no review. Need to understand more than enough. If you're NOT a math major STAY AWAY. If you are in her class already and have a low grade, drop before its too late because it gets harder.
I studied very hard for the first exam and I got a 57 %. Her tests are very unfair and strict of work should be shown. The class average was a 59%. I was discussing the grade with her and thought I would get advice. Instead she said that I didn't study enough and was a slacker. So I end up dropping. Not worth taking her unless with no choice.
Nice person, but don't let that fool you. Her class was very hard. Her teaching method didn't work for me at all. Tests were completely insane hard. Tests questions are completely different from her lecture. Just take someone else.
Her test are very tricky and hard. Puts problems that throws you off. Tons of homework worth a little. Take someone else if you want an easier life.
She is absolutely the worst math teacher. Huge Romanian accent, makes so many mistakes during her lectures, goes way too fast, expects us to kno stuff we don't actually kno. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Her tests are pretty hard, but they're all in your homeowork. She just changes some problems into similar ones. Ask her if you need help and she's very pleased to answers your questions.
Thick accent, unclear, Homemade book is garbage with no educational substance whatsoever,It Made her a couple of bucks at cost of student's education. Tests are in a different format than what is taught in class. Horrible teacher do not take!
Caculus become more easier with teacher Voicu!!! Highly recommend!
Even though i failed and am going to have to retake the class, she is a great teacher. HW definately helps (which i didnt do) and the Quizzes are exact problems from HW. Tests are mostly same problems, but theyre hard. Accent is no problem, Math30 people dont know anything. She is very good and i will repeat Calc 2 with her again.
Her quizzes were OK, but her tests were very HARD!!! She expected you to study like if you only had this class. Take someone else.
GREAT teacher. She used her own book which made it very easy to comprehend. She is very helpful and asks for questions after every lesson or problem that she does. Those who rated her poorly were lazy, didn't put effort into it. Wonderful math teacher. Accent isn't even bad. People exaggerate because they need an excuse for failing.
She is a great professor. She writes her own notes so you don't need the book. She gives a lot of extra credit on the tests and in general. I think I got 40 points extra credit by going to the student success center and attending class. Most people dont understand that to be good at math you have to practice. I got a high A. Do the practice tests!!
Her tests are extremely hard: she gives 60+ page practice tests, plus 2-4 chapters of homework due every week. She moves quickly in class & expects you to remember complex theorems from the previous class. I spend approximately 20 hours per week studying for this class alone, & would HIGHLY recommend taking someone else.
Honestly, she needs to brush up. If I am expected to pay 79bucks for a online bundle i want to its mandatory know before i start the class and when we have questions, expect the prof. to know answers. A LOT OF HOME WORK for 3, 1.15 hour /week classes. SUPER LONG practice test- yet do the homework ; so many easy pts I GOT AN A !
she is very nice, but her class is hard. if you are going to take higher math this is the class for you, but if you are doing it to transfer it is hard. she does give extra credit for going to the math center, and not missing too much class.
Awesome professor. 5 exams, 14 online quizes(gives your 3 tries for each one), and yeaa its true she gives a lot of homework, but its beneficial. I was SO scared when i started bc I hadn't seen math in over 2 years, but I passed with an A so ANYONE can pass. Go to her office hours: interesting prof! Get A's on all tests, and she'll skip your final.
Great professor and very helpful. Homework was done entirely online. Lots of helpful note taking.
She is a great professor. The material is hard, but she does her best to explain each section. Highly recommend!
If you want to learn, take her, but if you want to have an easy life then don't. She was clear on explaining problems, but I thought her test was super hard. You need to know the problems very thoroughly. The homework load was fair, but worth little pints. If you have other demanding classes or have a life outside I would not take her.
THIS CLASS IS VERY HARD - DO NOT TAKE! When you take notes in class it seems like you may be understanding the material, but the tests are crazy. She says they come straight from the book, but they are still very hard. And she gives basically NO partial credit at all. Find another professor if you don't want to fail. Consider yourself warned.
NOT HARD. i suck @ math. she def tries every way to get u to pass. 4 tests & cummulative final. Theyre multiple choice, that makes it that much easier. 14 quizzes taken online & u get 3 tries. it is an insane amount of hwk, but its do-able. the ppl that say its hard just did not try, this is college, u have to work for a grade. A is highly possible
Mariana is an awesome teacher! Yes the material is hard, however she does her very best to complain it. She really wants all her students to pass. TAKE HER!!!!
im glad i did not listen to the ppl that said this class was hard, im not good @ math, but this class was not hard. but tests are easy, if u do the hwk and actually bother to look over notes, u can pass with an A. Drops lowest test & quiz grade. she def prepares u for classes beyond this one
Very helpful. Definitely an instructor for those who have had bad experiences with math in the past.
She was very nice. Straightforward easy to follow classroom environment. Good for people that aren't pros at math. Reccomended to anyone.
She is one of the best math teacher. Take her without any doubt. Very very good teacher, and she knows what she is teaching. Very good, helpful, polite, and nice teacher!
Excellent Professor for the mathematically challenged, very helpful. HW: MyMathLab ~2-5hr/wk. QZ: 14 online - 3 tries each. TESTS: 4 multiple choice (you still need to know the material to pass these) + 1 two part final. EC: 20+ pts extra credit. Take Prof. Voicu's class if you want to learn, laugh, and (oh no!) work hard.
took this teacher bc only one to fit my schedule. and i was scared to death bc of the reviews. but shes really not that bad. shes really cool and sometimes funny, ya shes hard, but calc 2 isnt easy. study the hw and notes. gets test questions from there!! put work in, get the grade your deserve!
Honestly she is such a great a teacher! I'm not saying her classes are easy, you have to work to get the grade. But she is so nice and helpful! She always tries to explain things with as much clarity as she can and if you don't still understand she doesn't just give up on you. Take her class if you want to learn. She's a great math teacher.
You have to really work hard to earn an A. Practice test are useful but extremely long. There are about 100+ problems each week and a quiz as well but it is all worth doing it if you want to pass with an A. Dont take this class if you are a social butterfly and/or work full time; you will kill yourself!strong accent and can be condescending @ times
She is a good teacher but sometimes get confused, and she asks if you have questions a lot so don't be scared to ask.
The homework takes soooooooo long. this class is realllllyyy time consuming, even she admits it. i have no time to work on other homework because of her class.
the homework is so stupid. there are so many questions and you only get 2 points when you do it. all of that time for hardly a grade. also, it's all submitted online so if you have the smallest error, say a typo, you'll get the problem wrong. the homework takes up a lot of time and isn't even worth the grade. wish i didn't take the class.
Just goes through her poorly done notes during class. If you want to learn you pretty much have to be self taught. She is more suited for higher level classes. Seems to think the class is below her. Assigns copious amounts of homework but the rewards are minimal. Also a chapter test and final in the same week is overkill.
Took her 7:20am class. Worst thing ever. But Voicu is a very nice professor! Just don't push her buttons. There is A LOT of homework on MyMathLab and it was A PAIN, but in some ways it helped. She's VERY helpful if you visit her office hours. She cares for her students. 4 Tests and 1 Cumulative Final. DO THE PRACTICE TESTS.
Basically if you have a life, dont take this class. HW is never ending and it's online so you have to get it right. Tests are multiple choice but mad hard, quizes are online and you get a few retakes. She's really sweet, but kind of hard to understand with her accent. You only go over note so you end up teaching yourself...DONT DO IT.
At least three to four hours of homework every weekend that are only worth 2 points each. All the homework and quizzes are online, so answers must be typed in a certain way which gets confusing. She's nice and does her best to explain the concepts, but she never really gets though, you will most likely be teaching yourself everything. RED FLAG!!
Took both beginning and intermediate algebra with her at saddleback college and I was always afraid i can't pass math and i ended up getting A both times. She explains really well. A lot of homework but it is good practice for the tests and for quizzes.
She is truly a good professor. She is extremely helpful and always asks the class for questions. She uses notes that you can print out and bring to class so its easy to follow along and study, then uploads the notes from that day in case you miss class! Drops one quiz and replaces lowest test score with half of your two finals. Definitely recommend
HOMEWORK is online and very long and tedious, but if you do it you get easy points and you know the material for the tests. This is the class you do want to skip. You will be overwhelmed if you miss class regularly. She is very clear with how to do things and makes sure everyone understands before she moves on. Just do the practice tests and HW.
You would have no life if you take this class. You have to do a lot of homework and quizzes....... her notes and homework are not the same so you will end up learning by yourself. I suggest you find someone else to study this class.
Her homework and quizzes are online, but man, It's a lot!!! It's just too much to handle. Her test are long too. If you aren't very good at math, and if you want to take more classes other than this class, don't take it.
She's an amazing professor and is super helpful. You learn by doing the homework (which is all online and is super easy - if there's something you don't understand, there are modules to help you learn).
Heavy workload. HW and quizzes are do online weekly with 4 tests and a final split into two parts. You will lose weekends if you get lazy with the work. I would recommend taking this class with a lighter class load; but I absolutely recommend taking it, especially if you are thinking of taking an advanced course later on.
This is a 4 unit math course, so you do need to put effort into this class. You do have a lot of homework (3-4 hours a week), but that's expected in this level of math (it's not just this professor). If you do 30 minutes of hw a day, it's not that bad. 4 exams that are multiple choice and off the study guide. She also teaches very well and clearly
10 quizz 4 tests, 2 finals, all of them came straight from the HW. I left 3 for her easiness since it really depends on you. If you do all her HW and understand the materials getting A is an easy cake. The thing I dont like about her is that she stressed a lot on memorizing instead of understanding, which isnt really a good way to teach MATH
Great prof and mathematician. Very smart. Only 4 tests and 2 part final, which is cool because you can study half for the first day, then the other half for the next day. I have her text book for sale for only $40 on yorbin if anyone needs it. It will be removed once its purchased..
She gave me a D after the final when I had received a B in the class.
Mariana is my favorite math teacher I've taken. I took her for College Algebra and Business Calc and I got an A in both. I worked really hard because she has a lot of hw. But if you do all the hw and do her study guides her tests are easy. It's a lot of work but worth it at the end. I recommend her class to everyone.
She is very sweet and really wants you to succeed. Took her during intersession so it was very intense. She gives a lot of homework but only requires 75% completion. Loved taking her thought she was fair and good at what she does!
I hate every second being in her class. All she does is doing some problems and reading it out while doing so. Quizzes are always at the end of the class, which means after she throws a bunch of new stuff to you, she will test you on what you studied last week. It can easily mess everything up. I can't say enough how stupid that method is.
took Mr. Voicu during inters. for Math 030. it made the class intense but fun. She knows how to explain the class and it on point. you will pass the class if you do your homework and average the exams. Must attend all class sessions, she is very strict on attendance. Overall best proff. ever!!
I had her four years agoSpring 2010. Voicu only goes over the simple version of math problems during lecture. Quizzes are fair but exams were extremely hard even with doing the HW. To make it harder she does not curve. Basically if you are looking for a challenge take her. If not take someone else. I had to drop and take sum1 else.
Well. When she explain her lectures it was easy to understand and there's 3 pages everytime you meet her. The test o.o are hard I think cuz I got bad grades on them along with 12 people in the class. There's tons of homework of course it doesn't really help much on the test if she give you that much. It's not like you can remember everything.
Okay to be quite frank her class is a bit outrageous with all the homework. It will consume your life! I enjoy math this was just draining. The homework alone ruined it for me. She is very nice, extremely helpful but her teaching style is very different compared to other professors. No graphing calculator! DONT TAKE unless you LOVE doing homework.
Just great teacher.
Tons of Hw. Test and quizzes are fair. If your trig. or algebra is weak, then the class will be hard. Lots of memorization. No cheat sheets during the test, no calculators, and sometimes timed tests. Overall, really amazing professors.
She is a good teacher! Lectures are clear but she goes in a fast pace (sometimes you can lose the track). It is easy to pass if you do homework regularly and take notes during the class. I took her pre-calc class for the summer session, so that class was more intense than usual (as far as she explained). I'd definitely take her again for calc 1.
I couldn't understand her. She doesn't necessarily take the time to help you. Don't take her drop her if you can!!!!!! Take another person or if necessary take a 6:00pm class if needed. Don't just don't take her!!!!!
Amazing teacher that goes above and beyond for her students! she wants you to succeed! she gives a TON of homework, but it really does help over all. Great teacher, not an easy A, but she whats you to get an A.
Ok teacher if you already have somewhat of a grasp on the concepts. If they are new to you expect struggling.
The Homework is LONG (200 questions a week) + multiple videos you have to watch. Exams are multiple choice which is nice. Print out the practice exams and do them. Exams are worth 63% of your grade and they don't leave much room for error. She expects you to know material before class. Don't miss class, its 160 points. The class was totally rushed.
I took her for Math A185. Strict class!!!. Her homework will devour most of your time. She will give the practice test before the test. Each practice test has 120 questions, but only 13 questions are on the test. Although the class is tough, she very helpful and willing to help you. If u got 4 A on 4 test, you would exempt from taking the final
Took for intersession. Mariana is hands down the best math teacher Ive ever had. Her notes are print-out fill in the blank, extremely clear, and easy to study from. Tests are taken directly from practice exams. Book is not needed. She is very friendly, helpful, funny, and truly wants you to succeed. Would love to take her again.
Math A115 during intersession was not bad, sad to pass with an 89.13% instead of an A but oh well. Such a clear professor, exam questions from directly from practice exam. 200+ hw assignments due every sunday is time consuming but the repetition helps you nail the concept. Willing to help students and is organized and I like visual teaching style
Looks like she makes up impractical ways to solve algebra problems then writes them on the board.
Struggled in the hybrid class due to excessive amounts of homework. If you don't have the time, don't take her hybrid class as you will fail. Lots of quizzes. Practice papers similar to tests, so do them. Hard class, but Voicu is a great professor with a great attitude and never failed to make me laugh.
I got an A, but feel really bad for those that got below C. Mariana has a very sadistic nature to her where she seems to derive pleasure from docking people points. She lives in a perfect world where her students dont have jobs, families, traffic, or anything else besides her class. She outright ruined a few lives by docking them for stupid stuff.
Voicu is a great teacher. In the bigining I kind of didn't like the workload and the quizzes but after a while I started working harder which succes and get an A plus in the classes. She has three exams and one final that make up for your lowest exam. If you wanna learn math and get a good grade at the same time take her
Her scheduling is terrible, next week's material homework is due the week before (sometimes before she even goes over it in class). You are forced to cheat on the homework just so that you have time to study for this week's quiz/test instead of spending your time leaning next week's material that we didnt do in class yet. Homework requires 8hrs min
Read the syllabus! It'll be an ongoing joke for her whenever people ask about test dates and whatnot. Beware taking the hybrid class, the combination of online HW + online videos + in class online worksheets + weekly take home online quizzes can be overwhelming if you procrastinate. Decent lectures (anyone???) and will upload the notes online.
Basically, the exams are from the homework. You don't need to show up in classes. She bases on your exam to give you grade (I never show up in her class, except on exam days). If you want to take the quizzes, go ahead, but I recommend only do well on 4 exams and 2 final exams.
I took her class as a hybrid class, so it was half online half in class. We used ALEKS online math and had the class every Friday morning. There was a tutor that also came in every week in the classroom. She is so nice and goes out of her way to help everyone, along with that she is really funny.
She has prenotes ready to print out for leture. Exams are based on the homework. Homework is online. Study the homework and you will do ok. Quizes everyweek, also based on homework.
My advice don't do it!!!! Unless this is the only class on your schedule take it by all means, this class was so demanding just with the homework and quizzes on mymathlab, Literally hours and hours i spent to try and keep up, and don't think for one second she might curve your grade. I would take caution with her class.
I took her for winter intersession and she taught everything really well. She went over all the step thoroughly and overall a good professor. I had to do online homework but it wasn't bad at all. She gives you a practice test that really helps the exams.
She is not a teacher you should take. She really said , " I am to lazy. I am not going to do that." She is not much of a motivator in helping her students pass her class.
Easy going & helpful! She really takes a moment to make sure that everyone understands each step of a concept or method. She asked the class dozens of times if they are sure they understand, and I appreciated that! HOMEWORK IS OPTIONAL during intersession and she only counts your best 3/4 tests & quizzes. She doesn't care if you are late or skip.
Her exams are not so hard also she explains everything so clear.
The class was a hybrid so I had to check into ALEKS to do all my class work. It really was a pain to never know when something was due, you had to check everyday to see if anything was do. The class was left to your responsibility and the professor was just there to do practice problems.
She assigns 150-200 problems per week. 12 quizzes for the whole class; one quiz per week. 2 at-home worksheets per week. 6 exams including the final part 1 & final part 2. She gives a practice test. Also gives extra credit and curves the exam grade. Her expectations are very high!!! She is very difficult but pushed you to be better.
If you took the cal 1 honor and feel in love with it, take 182H instead because she won't teach it. However, if you want to learn regular calculus 2, she is the best. Her calculus 2 honor is very easy, i think it is the regular class in disguise. People dropped the honor one not because the class was hard, but calculus 2 was hard.
Her grading criteria is very clear. I took the hybrid class in spring 18. I havent taken math over 2+ years. She reviews stuff you should know. If you are looking for an easy A, this is not for you. 6 exams, including 2 finals. 1 Quiz each week. 2 Worksheets a week. Practice tests. Lots and lots of homework. Gives extra credit. No book needed.
Worst teacher ever. She doesnt motivate students and doesnt help. Trust me dont take her class.
Great professor that frequently stops to ask if anyone had questions. The test & quizzes were based off the online homework for that section, basically the exact same problems with numbers changed. The final is cumulative but split into 2 finals that also as an average replace your lowest test. I would've done better if I studied the homework more.
Voicu is a professor for people who really really likes math and knows they'll pass it unlike me. I took her hybrid summer math 30, I was doing so well but she told me to keep going and I ended up failing when I just should have dropped. VERY unorganized and lazy. I would not recommend unless you're in a pinch of getting the class done. LOTS os HW
I just took her 6 week pre-calc class over the summer, it was not easy but shes a great teacher! She loves math and is very patient with her students - stops often to make sure you get the material. Exams are HARD but if you study youll be okay. A ton of homework, but its good practice for the quizzes and tests! Cant wait to take her for Calc 2
Most of the time (95%) she was just doing practice problems. It did help to see how the problem is made but there wasn't any teaching going involved. It made my life pretty hard.
I did not like her manner of teaching. She goes too fast, expects her students to go the extra mile despite answers being correct, and her notes consist of practice questions. At times she'd seem intimidating because she makes no effort to know her students. If nobody participates, she will get irritated. Tests will be hard. Online HW expensive.
I took this professor last summer for precalc. While I still learned a lot, she is sort of a nasty lady. She doesn't care to remember students' names. Has a weird vibe to her. There were errors in her work, e.g. answer sheets not accurate. We also had 2 rude students in our class and she didn't handle them. Overall, very unprofessional. Stay away.
First she is very smart. She is not a good teacher though. I have never not passed a class before. Especially a math class, and this is the first class that I have ever gotten a D in. She doesn't teach very well, with her skipping steps while going over practice problems. When people ask questions she explains it the same way or gives up. Don't tak
Took her hybrid class. It's brutal. If you work weekends, i would not take her because of the ridiculous amount of work due every weekend. She doesn't care enough to learn names, goes over questions, and makes up numbers when students don't add up stuff quick enough. Would not recommend at all
This professor is the best math professor I had. Webassign is optional. I strongly suggest doing the hw if not on web assign on your own. Her test are from hw questions. If you do it, you'll pass. She's super caring about her students always double checks to see if anyone has questions. Bad reviews only come from those who didn't put in work.
Mariana Voicu is a great teacher, she explain better the material and if you don't get it, she is willing to explain it again and again. her test are fair, do your homeworks on webassign because that count too with your grades, don't miss the class be there, work hard and at the end you will be very happy that you pass!
Bad. Her lectures consist of simply just practice problems with no content on the proof or the mechanics of how or why something works. She's also rude to her students. Take her if you absolutely must, but be prepared to self-learn a majority of the material.
idk wher eall these bad reviews came from. Voicu is amazing, explains the material very well and doesnt speed through, like most math teachers. Always asks if you have questions, and exams are very straightforward. you have to work. Its math class after all.I'd say I spend 10 hours a week. Work for your A and youll get it. taking her for calc 1!
This calc 2 is the hardest thing I've ever done. 4 tests and 2 finals, all questions come from notes and homework. Lowest test score is replaced by the average of the 3 other tests. Homework not mandatory, no of questions standard for calculus. That said, for the 1st test, 50% of the class got C or more, 50% got F. It's a very challenging class.
Taken Voicu for 170, 185, & will take her for 285. Test and weekly quiz questions all come from webassign (so do it!). Finals come exactly from notes. She's blunt and a straight forward grader. Be prepared for her to not learn your name or give make up exams, no matter what's going on in your life. If you're okay with that, she's a good choice.
Took voicu for 170 and 180, and taking her again for 185 in the fall. Shes a great professor. She will explain the material over and over and ask if you have questions. Exams are straightforward but you HAVE to study cause the problems are HARD numbers. ONLY if you are willing to study your ass off every week, she is a great professor and choice.
She graded by 4 tests(75 pts plus some extra credit pts each), 1 Final(75 pts plus some extra credit pts each), best 9 quizzes out of 12, and homework(60 pts). She required us to use ConferZoom and Canvas at the same time during tests and final(Face and both hands are had to be showed all the time). She has Romanian accent, so it might be hard.
Mostly self taught class, you're better off doing hw during lecture and watching a youtube lecture on the subject later. Super passive aggressive, not helpful when it comes to questions. When asked something for clarification on steps she often responded "idk, algebra", and gave a half assed explanation. Tests aren't too hard if you do hw.
Took her for Linear and Differentials, she was super nice but as we kept going, she was so rude and condescending towards the kids who were asking questions. Then she would go back and say ITS RIGHT THERE, CAN YOU NOT SEE IT; then say does anyone have questions? Homework will help, but pay attention during the examples during class.
Took her online zoom. Pro tip : she will tell you test are based on HW, but in reality they are on her lectures/notes. If you are able to solve the example she has on lectures without any peeking, you should do fine. Tests are usually worth 60 pts, but you can earn 66/60 with the extra credit problem. Study hard for each test and you will do well
Voicu is the best. I have had her for three classes. There's a clear, easy formula to get an A each time: do and practice the homework questions. The homework is long and optional but test Q's are identical to hw Q's. She's a generous grader on exams so don't worry about small arithmetic mistakes.
For how basic this class should be, it's really a lot more complicated than that. She is usually nice, but she knows very little and occasionally gives lectures that conflict with that's seen on ALEKS, and gets peeved at the class over wanting to know things she didn't elaborate on. It's really hard to tell what she wants; it's a guessing game.
For business calc, hw is all online on mymathlab. same as quizzes which you get 3 tries. tests are same as practice tests just different #s. she's nice, always asking if we have questions&encouraging us to ask. to the point where she offered EC if we do practice tests or go to campus tutoring!! math in general is hard so don't slack off&you'll pass.
Use the problems in her notes to study, just redo them until you memorize the format. She probably sounds "mean" to some people but that's just the tone from her native language, she's super nice. Questions in exams were literally the same format/(exact)problems as those in the notes. Pay attention to her tips and comments.
Not understanding at all of personal issues or tech problems. Easy class, she's just a stickler for the rules and not very easy to work with.
She taught okay and everything was pretty straight forward on Alex. Im personally not the best at math, so I had to get a tutor because the lectures werent enough for me. The only thing was I did not at all care for her attitude towards the class. She spent alot of time going on about how she will fail people for this or that constantly.
I took her Calculus and Linear Algebra class. She is pretty good at explaining things and always stop to ask if students having question.
This class structure/teaching style was not for me. She is a kind woman but I felt she lacked efficient explanation skills; I got the impression students would be more confused after asking her to explain something. Homework, quizzes, and tests were all on ALEKS and would be due different days of the week/weekends. She seemed frustrated.
She is ok at teaching and wants you to succeed, but homework is inconvenient because the due dates vary between assignments. Homework is entirely online, the format is annoying to navigate and takes a long time to finish because of that. Your grade also relies entirely on tests, and there are only 4 of them plus the final exam so it's stressful.
I think that Voicu is a nice teacher and does help out when students need help. The reason I am giving her this score however is because I got sick during her midterms. She told us that she will not allow retakes of any of her exams even when you have a doctors note for any illnesses including COVID. She puts your score down to a 0 without excuses.
online/hybrid class. She was nice on Zoom and encouraged us to ask questions. She can be good at explaining but at the same time, I had to get a lot of help outside of class. I did not like her attitude in person, she can be very rude and belittle you in front of others. I dropped this class and hope to take it again with a different teacher.
Took her for lin alg and diff equations but now I wish I took it elsewhere. Very passive aggressive, made me not want to come to class, ask her questions, or learn from her at all. Grades are broken down into 60% exams, 20% final, 10% HW, 10% quizzes. Posts her in class notes the day after but her handwriting is hard to read. Basic calculators only
She explains carefully and gives extra credit on the 4 midterm exams. However, there is a final right after the fourth exam.
All of the homework was online and she would change the dates around occasionally which was inconvenient sometimes. She encourages you to ask questions and makes sure you understand which is great. Like every other review your grade does depends on like 4 tests, but she literally gives you study guides just do them and trust me you can get an A.
Incredibly tough, but great professor. She is highly organized, caring, but strict. Consider her calculus 2 class as a 7-8 unit class instead of a 4 unit class, and you'll do well. That said, last week was stressful, with 2 exams. Besides that, everything about her class was wonderful. She wants you to succeed and learn the material.
One of the best math professors I've taken. Her teaching style is very clear and she encourages students to ask questions. I was already pretty good at math before taking her, but my skills have definitely improved because of her. Grade is mostly dependent on 4 exams and 1 cumulative final. Do the homework, go to lectures, and practice the examples
Professor Voicu is one of the kindest professors I have ever met. Her lecture are neat and superbly easy to understand. She gives practise test which you can use to practise before each test and they truly help as long as you finish them all; she wants you to truly ace it so that you do better in cal 2 and cal 1.
Professor Voicu has a specific teaching style, but engaging with it can really pay off. Attend classes, study the textbook, and use tools like unstuckstudy ai to prep - that's the key to doing well. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.
Her tests are difficult, but if you attend all of the lectures and practice a lot, you'll guarantee get an A. She's very good at teaching, her in-class problems are very alike to her tests, and she's willing to help. Each mid-term is out of 60 points, but you could get 70 points (extra credit or make up for missed points). Take her!
The worst professor ever. She doesn't explain math concepts. All she does is useless algebra drills. She assigns up to 40 problems every 2 days, making no selections which are good for practice. Tests are algebra heavy and unpredictable. She says one thing and on the test twice as much. Being disrespectful and noisy when eating chips during exams.
Pretty standard for a math course at OCC. She made it very clear what's going to be on the exam ahead of time and provided extra credit on each exam. She honestly didn't seem that approachable in class, but during office hours she was super nice and easy to talk to.
Lectures are straight forward and she is good with answering questions and makes sure you understand. Make sure to be vocal about not understanding something. She is easily accessible. We were allowed one full paper for exams with formulas, explanations on how to do problems, etc. Every week, 2 hws on Pearson and 1 quiz about every other week.
If you need to take MATH 285, Mariana is the best choice among all the other professors. Her lecture may be fast, but we need to start concentrating and studying at this level of Math. Her accent may be difficult to hear, but keep asking her during her Math Center hours, and she will gladly help you. Tests are 66pts, but she grades it out of 60pts.
This might be one of the worst class I have ever took. She has a nasty attitude on zoom and will pick on anyone. Beware, she will clown you and talk down on you infront of the whole class without hesitation. 4 test that cover 65% of your grade. I passed her class, but I strongly don't recommend taking her at all.
Mrs. Voice does lots of examples in class and tests are not hard just medium. But she doesn't answer your questions well. She told me not to worry about it coz it's not on the test. Not the best.
For MATH 185 in OCC, she is not the best, nor the worst. I like how she also works at a math center, so if you are not clear about homework or in-class work, just go to her. I don't like her homework; it's not like what she did in class. Sometimes her homework can be very difficult. Most of the problems in tests come from Hwks.
4 tests (full cheat sheet allowed), weekly quizzes, and daily homework. class is basically her doing problems and explaining them. lectures are easy to follow and align with what's on tests. she's kind of patronizing and you should expect to be called on. also has an odd habit of repeatedly saying "i'm no good with calculators, don't trust me"
