Study the notes youll pass the class you need to attend class and buy the books overal pretty easy and nice lady
she is extremely nice and wants everyone to do well. she gives extremely helpful study guides before each test. tests are reasonable and everything is covered in class. there is one 4 pg essay and a power point presentation at the end but shes a really easy grader
Amazing professor, sets ground rules for students but is lenient. She basically provides answers for exams and has extremely clear notes. Amazing!
amazing teacher
Best Ever.
Great Teacher - Respects students opinions- Interesting assignments. Study the notes and you will do great.
I went into this class thinking I would hate the class, but it turned out to be my favorite class. its all from a historical standpoint and she gives really good notes every class. she reviews before every test, and doesn't give a lot of homework. also, she grades really leniently on research papers. class was an easy A, highly recommended.
SHE'S GREAT! Easy A! Do all of the work, show up and study your notes! All of the notes are on blackboard, but attendance is mandatory in order to pass the tests. The first book is needed, but I barely used the second book. It was a waste of money. TAKE HER FOR THEOLOGY! REGISTER FOR HER CLASS BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her assignments are easy and her tests are simple. She even gives you the answers beforehand. She required one book (really cheap) and a textbook, but i managed the entire semester without having to buy it. Definately participate in the class, because thats the one part of your grade she doesn't just give away.
Professor Smith is a great professor. I went to class thinking I would hate the class but it turned out to be entertaining and my favorite class. Class consists of three exams. She reviews before every exam and points out answers to questions that will show up on the exam. One research paper that is a super easy with presentation. Easy A.
Great Professor. Tells us all the homework that is due super early, and the tests aren't hard if you study. (only a few tests) Makes me want to go to class. Seems tough and strict but on the inside very kind-hearted and funny.
Great class and Great Professor! Thought I would hate the course but was surprised - it is one of may favorite classes. Fun assignments -one paper 5 pages. Lots of class discussion - lets students voice their opinions and . Tests come from powerpoints and notes - I wish she taught another course - I would definitely take her again.
she's ok
Loved this class - wish she taught more classes. Made me actually enjoy theology! Group discussions and allows students to speak their mind. Tests are directly from the notes which are from lectures study the notes and you will get an A. Always there for students - Gonna miss this class it was my favorite!
Enjoyed this class Practical issues discussed Thought I would hate it but she made it my favorite class
Two thumbs up. Fun - easy assignments, lots of time in advance for tests and homework.
Pretty good professor - 2 tests, final, a small paper and three fun assignments. Glad I had this professor
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PROFESSOR! She is one of those professors you rarely come by that really cares about her students. Assignments and tests are manageable!
She's an awesome professor. Very easy and very outgoing. I enjoyed the class and the approach to it. All the assignments and tests are easily manageable and shes a good grader. I would 150% recommend her.
Professor Smith is the BEST professor I've ever had. She makes class interesting and really cares about her students. Tests are fair, assignments are interesting. Don't miss out on her class.
Amazing class - wish all my classes could have been like this. Tests are manageable - good review notes, assignments are interesting. Professor is approachable and wants her students to all do well.
Though i would hate this class but she made me love it. I didn't mind sitting through a 3 hour class with her. she talks about current issues and doesn't force anything on you. 2 5point exams and 25 point final. super easy to get an A as long as you go through her slides. seems intimidating at first but super nice. TAKE HER!!
She is the best professor I've ever had. I thought the class would be long and boring but it turned out to be my favorite class. Take her if you can, very easy to get an A. Two simple tests, One research paper and two other fun projects.
She's ok but her tests are really tough.
Excellent Professor! Best ever - very helpful and sensitive to students. Two exams and a final - study the notes she gives and you will get an A. Interesting class! Interesting assignments. One group project.
Awesome professor. It's a pretty chill class as long as you read the books, do the postings, and study for the exams (she posts ALL the notes) and final . You'll be fine. She tries to make the class topics as current and respects ALL students .
Do the work, study for the two exams (one was open book) She gives notes every week that have all the exam answers in them. Awesome lady-really cares about her students. Respects ALL religions of students. Wish she taught other classes
Favorite professor ever. Love this lady. Take her before it's too late!
I absolutely loved her personality and the way she ran the class. She gave us free soap and is a overall great professor. TAKE HER!
She's the best! Easy A class. She tells you word for word what is on her tests and the homework assignments are actually fun to do! Would definitely take her again!
Very easy. She is extremely helpful.. definitely take
She was so helpful and understand. Everything that was on the test was in the notes. Taking her again for THEO2810 and I know I will have a great time in her class. Plus she gives out free soap :)
She's wonderful. I am in her class as we speak and I REALLY LOVE IT. Maybe because I always had an interest in theology or some of the things we discuss but she is A WONDERFUL professor. I wish she could teach my other classes lol. She is my last class of the day and the highlight of my day.
Prof. Smith is a great teacher, but do not try to coast through this class. She assigns hw on blackboard and expects you to read the books. She is very sweet and really cares about her students. Assigns a few group projects, which are very easy. Her tests are pretty straightforward and if you read the books and study her powerpoints you'll do well.
I loved this professor! She makes theology actually interesting. There was a few group projects which were easy, a research paper and small assignments in between. Her tests are also easy just study the notes. Would definitely take her again
Shes very nice and understanding. Hardly any homework/ tests just 2 tests and a final. If you read the chapters and pay attention to her lectures as well as the group discussions, you'll do well! She gives an option between ASL or Research Paper and is very accommodating!! Likes group interaction and discussions and is pretty liberal
One of my favorite teachers at SJU! Prof. Smith is a great teacher. 3 tests and it's not a big deal if u miss one of the first two (Final is mostly made of questions from the first two exams). Homeworks here and there, and either a research paper or ASL paper. This class is an easy A. Take her if you can!
Professor Smith is my favorite, She really cares about you and what you have to say. She makes you work for you grade but as long as you do your work you will be fine. Loved this class so much!
Professor Smith is so amazing and great, I had her for my Theo 1000C and took her again for my Theo 2000C. I wish she taught a Theo 3000 course! She is so sweet and caring and teachings you more then what is in the textbook. Best Professor at St. John's hands down.
Professor Smith genuinely cares about her students and would rather you learn something valuable instead of sitting in a pointless lecture. Her work is easy and gives 3 main assignments throughout the semester. Would absolutely reccomend you take her for a great class and an easy A.
Okay so, she seems so intimidating on the first day but that is all a front! She is the nicest woman ever. She isn't afraid to speak her mind, and is a great professor. Most of our tests were online so it was super easy (as you can imagine). There is a bit of work including a 5 page paper at the end but she's great. Plus she brings in gifts often.
This woman is amazing! I loved her and you'll love her. Other theology professors focus on a lot of the terminology but she teaches her course from a historical point of view. She makes it very easy for you to pass because she knows it's a mandatory course. She's very funny and loves to joke around but don't get on her bad side.
Professor Smith is amazing! I totally recommend taking her for any class you can. She is not a tough grader and she gives good feedback. There is occassional homework but it is not homework that is not manageable. She has clear grading for her assignments. Group projects are common but it is worth it. She is a caring professor as well. Take her!
She does give a lot of papers but they really aren't too hard. She can be a little strict but if you show her you care and go to every class, she will give you a good grade.
Professor Smith is AMAZING! Took her 1000C and the 2810 Her classes always close FAST so hurry when you can or you will be shut out.
Test were all fill in, must read the books and powerpoints or you will be lost.
Professor Smith is amazing! Took her for Perspectives of Christianity and now taking her for Religions of the World. Attendance matters - do not be late and do not disrupt the class. No technology devices. She is such an understanding and nice Professor! Not a lot of homework, only weekly discussion posts. Textbook needed. 10/10 recommend!
She is a very nice lady, but it also feels like she is babying students. So if you are a freshman / sophomore you may like her more than Juniors/seniors. Personally was not my cup of tea, but she is a really nice woman. Felt more like a highschool class.
Awesome Class! Professor Smith is amazing! Had her for Theo1000 and now for ROTW. Her classes always fill FAST - One of the only professors that actually cares about the students. One group project that was fun, one paper, weekly postings and a final. Class is always interesting - great class discussions. Attendance mandatory & no phones.
She is an awesome professor her class isn't really hard as you don't get a lot of work but you can't really miss any of the work you do get. If you are gonna do ASL make sure to be on top of the service or else your grade suffers because of it. Study for her test they aren't worth a lot but they still matter enough. No quizzes.
Professor Smith is a wonderful professor. She allows for all students to share their religion and mandates respect for all. Not only learned the history behind the religions but more importantly learned real life appreciation and respect for others . One group project , one exam plus final and either a paper or service learning. Class fill fast
smith may seem really harsh on the first day, but it's a really easy class. do the blackboard discussions, participate here and there and you'll be good. the assignments are really easy and she's a lenient grader. you can either write a 12 page paper or do 12 hrs of ASL. this class is definitely a GPA booster.
i actually enjoyed the way she taught class, even though she gave homework for every class, it wasn't bad at all. big project was ASL or a research paper. she grades really easy imo. easy A
Professor Smith genuinely cares about her students! For ROTW, it is a lot of reading for certain chapters, but as long as you are interested in learning about other religions it isn't difficult to complete. There are only a few assignments that she gives a lot of time for. There is a service requirement but you can choose to write a paper instead.
Professor Smith is the best. She is intimidating at first but she is honestly a really great professor. Discussion post, and 2 responses to other classmates every Wednesday. Exams and Assignments are online and not so difficult. Do the work and you'll be fine!
Need a Theo credit? Take Her! She can be a bit intimidating and unfiltered, but she has a heart of gold. The class is so interesting that homework doesn't even feel like work - but something you'd want to learn about that happens to be current day problems. Her grading requirements are so straight forward that if you just follow there's no failing.
Professor Smith is hands down one of my favorite professors. This class is also one of the most interesting I have taken so far. She does come off as intimidating at first, but she really is very nice and understanding. I enjoyed going to class every week. If you are looking for an interesting religion class with a fun professor, take this class!
Prof Smith is one of the BEST professors I have ever had. Interesting class, two assignments, weekly discussions and final exam (take home) She was amazing this semester while we dealt with half in class and half on Zoom each week. She made it work and engaged everyone each week. Good class discussions let everyone speak their opinion.
Took her before - this time for Ecology & Environmental Ethics. Great class - learned about current issues that affect us. Class discussions that let you voice your opinion. Group project, weekly readings that are interesting and Blackboard discussions each week.
Great pofessor! Great class -will be taking her or 3330 in the fall if I can get in! She closes fast so dont wait
Prof. Smith is awesome! Great course- learned a lot about different religions. One group project that was fun. Lecture notes are posted each week, one exam and final. Paper or ASL hours. Attendance counts- do not be late..
Rough class. Would not recommend
Great course on the environment and how religions can help it. Took her for 2810 and this is a continuation of sort to that. Great readings, great class discussions. One take home exam, one group project, paper or service and final. Weekly discussion question. No phones but notes are posted every week. Great professor!
Class consisted of - Weekly class discussions on blackboard - Take home midterm and take home final - The choice to do either a 10 hour ASL project or 10 page research paper Attendance is an important factor! Please show up to every class and do not use your phone during her lectures She made this class fun to learn. I recommend her!
Took a lot more effort to get a grade than most of my major classes.
Prof Smith is the best theo professor at SJU. Took Eco/Enviro as my 3rd theo and it was great. Discussions are current ecological issues, class discussions are interesting. Weekly reading and discussions question, no midterm, paper or service. Lots of ways to get the grade. One group project.
Great class-Discussed a lot of current issues. Reading and question each week. One mini exam (take home), one group project (we chose out groups), one assignment and either a paper or service. Always let us open discuss and respected everyone's opinion. Service was great-made friends and helped raise awareness.
Overall enjoyable class. Usually 2 reading assignments per week and discussion board that took maybe 1.5-2 hours total. During class, you would be doing a disservice to yourself if you don't participate, as we actually discuss pretty interesting topics. ASL was pretty fun, but get them done ASAP. She's nice, especially if you participate in class
Great and interesting class. Group project makes you step outside your own beliefs. Learned about religions I didn’t know about - easy class. One discussion question and chapter to read each week. Best part is class discussions.
Take this Professor! The class material was not hard. We had to read a chapter or two every week and post a discussion. For her class we either had to do service hours or a paper for the midterm. Had an online final. The service hours were so much fun. Professor Smith is so funny, she might seem scary at first. Hoping to take her again.
This class is not an easy A it gets slightly annoying with all the extra assignments outside of class. The asl assignment is very hard because many of the positions get filled fast so you have to end up giving money to the instructor's organization to save your grade or do a 12 page paper. The class is very tedious won't suggest you taking the class
Wow, she seems nice but honestly too much work for a core class. A ten page paper and a final, as well as three separate powerpoint assignments! honestly ridiculous. She nit picks everything as well. I received an A bec i worked really hard in her class, but not worth the struggle at all.
Great Professor with easy assignments and would take her again.
Great Professor with easy assignments. Easy A class if you complete your assignments.
The class was great and the text and additional materials provided by the proff were easy to understand and interesting. Weekly discussion board based on readings, and assignments scattered across the semester. Assignments were fun + interesting as well. There's also a final paper, but the proff provides the topics early on so don't procrastinate.
I had her online for religions of the world and getting an A in this class is super easy. Discussion boards once a week with responses to others and 3 bigger assignments throughout the semester. Easy grader, just do the work and turn it in on time. Highly recommend working the bake sales for ASL hours instead of the final paper. Uses discord.
I took Professor Smith for THE 1043 but it was not in the drop down so I selected a random course. She is just an overall amazing professor. Every single assignment & test (which there are not a lot of) are done outside class so there are no time limits and very little pressure. Class discussions are super helpful. Just be respectful to everyone!
Great professor - Always available. Course is based on points that you accumulate over the semester so if you miss sometning its no big deal. Exam is research and not times - you get a week to do it. Interesting course and students are free to share their opinions,
Absolutely loved Professor Smith. Her class is easy and straightforward if you just follow the directions given. Make sure you do AS-L early and do the discussion boards on time. If you go to class, do the homework and the other very simple assignments given you will have no problem. She's also very funny and her lectures are interesting.
Amazing prof, no electronics allowed but three hour lectures (2-2 1/2 hours) fly by. She gives a break every class. She's funny and caring, she's strict but wants to see you succeed. It's important and very easy to be involved in discussions, and she forces you to make friends through groups. felt more of environmental class than theo, loved it.
A lot harder pass and more work than my core classes and was anxious every time I had to attend
Awesome professor - had her for another course - great course with interesting lectures! Notes are on Canvas after class. No electronic devices in class - 3 hours class goes fast. One group project, one test, option for either research paper or ASL, final exam was research and we had a week to submit it. Follow guidelines and you'll do great!
Awesome professor had her before- great lectures - all her notes on Canvas after class. No electronics- three hour class flies by. Weekly discussion/readings, one group project that was very interesting, either research paper or ASL, final was research based and had a week to submit. Follow the guidelines and you'll do great! Hard not to get an A
I loved this class. She has a no phone policy which I did not enjoy, especially for a 3 hour class but the discussions (& her comments) are engaging enough that time flies by. Definitely not easy but she gives clear guidelines so you can get an A+ if you just listen to her. Option to do service learning or a paper, the service learning is fun.
I truly appreciated Prof Smith's passion and wisdom, the way she was able to deliver class content was very engaging. Although, she has this heavy layer of hostility and disrespect towards students (as displayed in her responses to negative reviews) that I would DREAD weekly. It ruined the experience, her attitude weighs more than her talent.
Great professor and class. She runs a tight ship- no phones or tech during class whibut is really engaging so the 3 hours fly by. Really involved professor whose lectures are very open ended and encourage discussion amongst the class. Group projects and 12 page essay were intensive but interesting and left you wanting to learn more.
