Marianne is awesome. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I actually wanted to go to class. She has a great sense of humor and a lot of energy and you can tell she truly loves what she does. Absolutely best professor at GVSU. Her class is super easy, all exam questions come straight from poweerpoint notes that are taken in class. 5 total exams, one is a take home exam, one is online, and the other is a group exam. Seriously best professor ever! Loved her!

Easy A. Five quizzes: First one real easy, take home, online, group quiz, last quiz you can just do the review sheet for full credit. She is a caring lady who brings a positive attitude everyday because of the caffeine in her soda. Take her BIO class rather than geology/chemistry

Dr. Gerard is one of the kindest, most understanding professors I have had at Grand Valley. She will challenge you, and will expect you to keep up with the material. As someone who has a fear of Biology, Professor Gerard made this class fun, exciting, PASSABLE (I'm expecting a B+), and was always there to help. She doesn't have a lot of time in lectures so do go to her office hours! It's like having an educational lunch with your best friend. Do go to her lectures because she will tell you'll be tested on.

I always had trouble with BIO until I took Gerard's course. She always makes sure you understand her lectures, and she always makes them "exciting"!! Even though attendance isn't required it really makes a difference to go to her lectures. Tests & quizzes are moderate; the way she words them is different from how she words them during lectures.

Honest the best professor I've ever had. If you have a chance to take Gerard, do it. Even though biology wasn't my favorite subject, she made it understandable and incredibly funny. I didn't miss one lecture of her class and got an A. Some classmates said her tests are hard but they aren't. Just go to lecture, take good notes, and ask questions.

One of my favorite classes taken at GV! I was excited to actually go to class, she kept everyone engaged and was hilarious. She was a bit unorganized but very reasonable about any confusion. Quizzes and tests were straight from her notes, as long as you went to class you will easily get an A.

This prof is hilarious. I miss being in her class. I hate biology but she made it way more enjoyable. She is probably one of the best profs I've had at GVSU so far. Without a doubt the quirkiest and kindest professor I've had at GV. Her lectures are always interesting, even when classes switched to online because of Covid. Quizzes are easy with lots of opporunities for extra credit. The midterm and final conist of mostly old quiz questions. Would 100% recommend taking any class with her.

Quizzes were timed like 90 minutes on BB and you get two attempts. ALWAYS do your second attempt, you will do so much better the second time. Shes the best.

Not only is Gerard highly intelligent, she is a great teacher and truly cares about all students. She always made the class very engaging and fun. While class is not mandatory, she does give out some extra points every now and then for attendance. All quizzes are on blackboard with two attempts, including the midterm & final. 11/10 recommend!

The only homework you get are adaptive quizzes that are completion based and aren't long. Mini-tests and exams are online with 2 attempt. Class isn't mandatory but she gives extra points for attendance. Her lectures are engaging, sometimes moves through content a bit fast. Overall, I enjoyed having her as a prof and love her personality!

She always ensures a safe & judgement-free environment & I'd definitely recommend taking one of her classes if given the opportunity. :)

Professor Gerard is by far the best professor I've had so far! She makes every class very interesting and uses analogies to help connect to the content. Her tests aren't very hard, and neither are the assignments (they are participation). She is very understanding when you have other things going on in your life. Would take her again for sure!

I love this woman. I feel like she has healed me in so many ways. You learn so much in this class but it is such a fair amount of work. The exams are very straightforward and she even gives some answers in class. If you take notes on what she says during her lectures you will be golden. It would be impossible for someone to not like Dr. Gerard.

Professor Gerard is a great professor who really cares about her students and their success. Her lecture were not only informative but very entertaining. I was not always the best at Biology in high school but this professor made the concepts easier to understand.

This class was the only class I actually wanted to attend every day. This professor made this class enjoyable and fun while learning things that are sensitive topics. She is caring and wonderful not only to her students but about what she's teaches. She is willing to answer all questions and support you in anyway. Would take her classes again.

Professor Gerard is the best professor, she's so kind and the most entertaining professor. You learn so much but it's done in the best way possible, I'm already planning on taking more of her classes. She's extremely respectful and does her best to interact with each of her students. She has made me feel incredibly safe and welcome. 11/10 :)

Cannot say enough amazing things about her! Second degree student here and she is literally the best professor I have ever had. Epitome of what a professor should be like! Cares about all of her students and available at all times. Emotionally intelligent - knows when to be fun or serious. Brings coffee and treats often to class!! Take her!!!

Gerard is the best prof at GV no doubt. She is so kind and cares so much about her students well-being inside and outside of class. Her material is so amazing and her delivery is even better. I would 100% recommend the class as an elective to everyone or any other class she teaches!!

Dr. Gerard is hands down the best professor at GVSU. She really knows how to make each of her students feel welcomed and appreciated, which is so rare to find in this point of our lives as college students. Her enthusiasm is contagious and there was not a day where she didn't make me laugh or smile :) If I could take more of her classes I would lol

LOVE HER TAKE HER. took her class for an issues and it's one of my favorite classes. She brings so many treats, she's funny. Play kahoot, Jeopardy for prizes. I'm genuinely will miss her. Textbook isn't mandatory but there are some useful graphs and pictures on quizzes/exams that come straight from the textbook. I have no complaints.

Actually the best professor I have ever had. She is hilarious and extremely respectful at the same time. I have never felt more safe/welcomed into a place then I did in her classroom. If you need to fill an issues credit, take BIO 325 and I promise you won't regret it.

Gerard is hands down the best professor I have had at Grand Valley. She not only had the most entertaining lectures, but was extremely understanding and easy to talk to. If you have the option, TAKE HER! You will not regret it. Easy assignments, tests online, and if you're lucky she will hand out some glucose ;)

Professor Gerard makes biology fun and engaging. Her lectures are packed with enthusiasm and helpful analogies. Unstuck ai was a game-changer for studying - combined with the textbook, it made the material click.
