Effectively communicates with the class.He maintains order,but isn't dull.He's fair and helpful,but won't put up with any nonsense!I would highly recommend taking his class.Be a good student and you will get a good instructor.

The material he covers is very good. He also makes the class fun and makes it easy for the students to ask for help.

He focuses on the structure of paragraphs for essays. Develop good skills for your introductions and conclusions.

Prof. Aguilar, is very good at teaching, but at times very strict in grading (mechanics,structure)however he is a nice guy, I would not recommend for lazy students.

took him in the summer and he actually made it interesting and the class was fast paced because of the amt of weeks in learning all the material. he's cool and very easy to talk to and very understandable, if the situation is major. I would take him again. Also the class environment is very open, he wants his students to talk out loud and he grades on it so being shy doesnt help much but he makes u feel comfortable in the class.

Professor Aguilar was one of the best teachers i've had at SAC, he's not only HOT! but interesting, funny, and intellegent. i recommend everyone who is willing to work hard for their grade to take Professor Aguilar, you wont regret it.

Mr.A is a really nice guy. He will help with anything you need. And he goes back over stuff in class if we dont get it. He grades kind of hard, but you just have to work at it. He seems to really care how you are doing in the class.

He is an ok teacher. He is funny and comes up with stuff you wouldn't imagine but he grades very hard. I would say about half the class makes C's on essays and if your lucky you might get a B because of the way he grades. And you will probably have a 7 page research paper to write.

he is a rerally good teacher i was not a good writer when it came to my intro and conclusion but he helped on that and now i have no problem when it comes to writting

I am currently taking Mr. Aguilar's 1301 Eng. class. He is a very good teacher. He explains the lessons clearly and doesn't go on until everyone understands. He is a very funny guy, who likes to joke around but takes English very seriously. He loves what he does and he tries to make sure the class is fun. He does grade tough, but he is fair.

Mr.Aguilar is a great teacher. True he is a hard grader, but he takes English very seriously. He is very funny and makes things clear, and if you do not understand he is willing to keep going till you learn it, or help you during his office hours. I highly recommend him!!

He was a really great teacher. I took his class twice, and both times he was an extremely great help. He makes things interesting and exciting. He's intelligent and passionate about what he does without coming off as a pompous jerk. Not to mention, he's very easy on the eyes.

Need book and need to read. Is helpful after class time and is willing to help you even after you need him for after you have completed his class (in his schedule), have a HUGE research paper and TERM PAPER!

He is an awsome teacher always pushing students to do well, and do their work. He helped me tremendously with my research paper, and all the little assignments. There are some little assignments done in class to make sure you are keeping up with the assigned reading.Great!!!

Funny guy.really helpful. make sure you do all the essays and on time. if you miss class try to catch up right away.he's hard core on the grading but he helps you a lot as you go along.

Mr.Aguilar is a hard teacher but its a good hard. His class kicked my butt this year but I learned more than I could have ever imagined from it. If you take his class make sure you listen closely to what he says to do and do it promptly. If you are unsure ask him because he is always willing to help. He is a big help and will work with you but at the same time I found him to be tempermental. If he is having a bad day then it will be taken out on you.

Professor Aguilar is fair if you do your work however, if you do not come to class, show up late, and do not put forth the effort than you will not pass. I would take him again.

He is an excellent teacher. I learned a great deal from him. His expectations however, are extremelly high. It would be wise to either give 100 percent in his class, or not take it. Would recommend taking the class, only if you have a strong drive to excell in english and literature, otherwise it will be near impossible to score an A.

Mr. Aguilar is a very good teacher. If you want to actually learn something in college I recommend you take his class. He is very passionate about English and about teaching. He is very particular on his work assignments but it pays off. I recommend this class to anyone who is serious about learning.

If you are majoring in English or Journalism I would reccommend him. Eventhough he is tough he will make you a better writer, trust me.

He is a bit tough, but he helps you out w/ everything. He's not intimidating and has a good sense of humor. I learned a hell of alot more than i expected to.

If you are looking for an easy A or B, I would not recommend this professor to you. However, if you are an english major or writing major and you really want to improve your writing, then he's your man! English is my best subject by far and I think I have the highest grade in his class... it's a B. I was a good writer, but he made me better.

For his English 2307 Creative Writing class it is pretty straight forward. Show up, do your assignments and he will help you. He will make you a better writer. Just do the work.

I absolutley love this teacher. His class is very helpful although he is extremely hard. I have a C average as of now but I know that I am improving each time I get an essay back. I will definitley be taking his 1302 class next semester.

awesome teacher. spends his time explaining everything to the point where we know what we are doing. very easy to get along with. is serious with teaching, but knows when to have fun. i recommend you take him. you will really get something out of the class. i will take him again if i have to.

Mr. Aguilar is definitely one of the best, most considerate professors I have ever had. He is very challenging, but every second of his class is worth your attention. I received a B in the class and I smoke high quality marijuana everyday. It is not that hard. Study and do exactly what he says. You will do just fine.

Professor Aguilar's class is definitely not an "easy-A" class, but he is a phenomenal professor and is ALWAYS willing to help. He is very interactive. He is very stern in what he expects from his students some feel that it's a lot to ask for but if you want to learn & become a better writer, or student in general, he is the professor for you. +HOT!

i took him for sophmore and freshmen english, the guy is a beast. He tells his students what to expect like the you will not make an A, or more than half of my sutdents fail speach. Half my freshman class did fail or drop out. however I did make an A on his final paper, so its not imposible to do well. I still take papers for him to proof read

Mr. Aguilar was an amazing professor. I did smoke alot of weed while I was in his class, and that alone made the class harder. If you want to learn English, how to write extremely well, and sound intelligent while doing so- take Mariano Aguilar's 1301. He will get you up to speed and work with you no matter what. If you need help, he is amazing.

Not the instructor to take if you are looking to keep a decent GPA. He is prude and sometimes cusses in his class. He gets agitated by the simplest thing. If you are foreign look for another professor he will make the work double the difficulty.

Mr. Aguilar is a tough professor but he lets you know his expectations in the beginning of the semester. He will work with you if you need help. Makes class interesting and as long as you pay attention in class, you will do good.

Professor Aguilar is tough to please, but that is because he wants you to be a good writer. I hadn't stepped foot in a classroom since 10th grade and pulled through with a B. Always available to help when needed, highly recommend if your serious about college.

Not an east class but I learned a lot. If you want a B you must do all the work. His class is more about quantity of work than quality completed. He was super helpful, and even talked with me about my grade after the semester was over.

So here's the deal: if you're looking to make a quick, easy A, do not take this class. However, if you're looking to take a challenging class that will teach you how to write great essays not only for English but for all other subjects as well, then take this class. Plus, he'll give you all his spare office time to help you out and tutor you.

he was the best english teacher i ever had! he assigns a bunch of practice essays and paragraphs but it's awesome because he gives you good feedback. there is a lot of work but you will learn so much and he does a wonderful job of explaining everything. he also has a good sense of humor and is very helpful and understanding if you talk to him.

He is a good professor but a tough one. You need to go to class because he gives out pop quizzes alot.

Excellent professor. He grades hard but he is fair across the board. He gives you more than enough chances to correct mistakes on essays and plenty of time to come to him for all sorts of help on research projects. If you show that you care about the class and your grade, he will give you all the time in the world for help.

BY FAR, my favorite professor. His class is labor intensive, but it was the ONLY class of mine that flew by. He's very easy to talk to and if you bring him your essays in advance, he'll help you make them better.

He was a tough teacher but his expectations weren't impossible. The only issue I had with him was the daily grade consisting of attendance, participation, class work, and attitude. I followed everything to a T and still got a D for it. But after speaking with him, we were able to work something out and he did listen to my thoughts. Don't slack off!

Honestly, I was so scared to take his class, I got nothing but Ds on every assignment but somehow passed with a B+! On the first day, he gives you a list of things he hates so write ALL of it down! He's willing to help you as much as possible and actually a pretty funny guy. (But I don't know why he has a pepper here...)

I took Mr. Aguilar for Creative Writing. He is an excellent teacher to take if you are interested in becoming a writer and are serious about it. He is passionate about writing which makes him an excellent teacher. His classes are ecspecailly helpful if you plan on continuting your education as an English major at a 4 year university.

Keep it Real Professer A!

By far the best quality professor that I've encountered at SAC. Not for lazy people tho. He is very clear on everything and I promise, you will be a much better writer after takin him. He is a must for comp classes, looking forward to taking him again in the summer for lit.

Professor Aguilar is the best English teacher. Period. I am currently in his Creative Writing class, and it is my favorite. He gives great feedback and is willing to help you. All you have to do is show up, do your required work, and you will do well. I'm sad that I'm graduating because I won't have another class with Professor Aguilar.

Professor Aguilar is a great teacher, but don't make the mistake of thinking his class is easy. He expects you to work for your grade. That being said, he is very approachable and helpful is you are trying.If you slack off in class and play on your phone, don't expect a passing grade.

I Love Aguilar, I took for comp 1 & 2. He honestly made me a better writer and i feel prepared when i write essays in my other classes. He has a great since of humor and hes there to set you up for success. Homework is minimal, its mostly lecture, just so what he says and you will pass.

BEST TEACHER EVER! I LOVE Aguilar. I took him for ENGL 1 & 2. If you dont like to work hard for a grade, dont take him. NOT AN EASY CLASS. Fast paced class. He pushes students to their fullest potential & his door is always open for help. Very clear on expectations. Accepts late work with points deducted. He's a very funny guy & is BEYOND HOT!!!!

I took mr.aguilar with my boyfriend who failed English 3 time this was his last chance and he passed I love his teaching style and his sense of humor but yet he is straight forward and clear about the assignments and their due dates. I would highly recommend mr.aguilar I took him for English 1301 and 1302 he is AWESOME!!!!

One of the BEST teachers!!! Do not take this if you are lazy or want an easy A, he requires you to be a responsible student. His curriculum is mostly reading literature, poems, and short stories, then interpreting them during class discussions which are very fun and interesting. You only write about 2 or 3 major essays and a major project. TAKE HIM

He's a really demanding teacher, it's not an easy class but if you pay attention in class and do your work he will help you. Before you start his class, make sure what a pronoun is. He also made fun of a students hand writing which was pretty mean. You do need the book at all times, but overall his a great teacher. P.s. He is not hot.

Words of Advice:Attend class, come prepared,Rent book,Take Notes,print everything from ACES Files,Go to writing Labs, Tutor sessions,Do Your Homework,He'll help just ask,Listen and DO EVERYTHING HE SAYS to the T!Do this and you will do well. You Want Easy? DON'T take this class,you WANT to LEARN, take the class.

Mr. Aguilar is an amazing teacher who inspires and motivates his students at every lecture. The writing requirements are demanding and his grading is strict, however he is very willing to help before or after class. You are allowed to rewrite one paper, I made a B in the class and I hate English.

Great Professor. The toughest class I have ever taken but the most rewarding. He teaches you how to become a better writer without you really realizing it till afterwards. Very funny and nice. Also, tells you in the beginning that his class is difficult but is willing to help you if you show that you want to work hard and pass.

If you dont like to do work, dont bother taking this class. His class is difficult, but its worth it because it helps you become a better writer.

Professor Aguilar has a passion for the material he teaches. He is also emphatic about helping his students improve if they're willing to put in the effort. His class is entertaining and there is a lot of class discussion which helps you understand the material. He has high expectations for his students but it helps keep you motivAted to work hard.

Aguilar was a tough but great professor! I learned a lot from this class, more than any other professor. HIs essay topics were interesting and his work. Makes you work for your grades! But trust me... hard work pays off!!

Don't take the easy road because nothing in life that is worth having is easy. Build some character and take English 1301 and 1302 with him. I DID!

Took his class twice, first time I dropped because I wasn't ready for all that he requires. Lots of writing and printing and editing. But I was determined to take it again and I got an A! All it took was a lot of effort & engagement. I love his passion for writing and I also think he's sexy as hell.

He's a tough one. But his is very clear on what you should expect. He gets very in depth about the subject, and will basically not leave you guessing. Prepare to take notes and read from textbook. You'll come out of this class with a much better ability to write, trust me.

Even though English is not my favorite subject, he made it bearable. When we learn something new, he gives a TON of examples so you can see, and understand, what he wants. Book is nice to have to refer to. Participate when he asks class to read. Take good notes, and make sure you keep them. He is a clear grader, and is helpful if you ask him.

His class was tough, you have to show up miss a day and you're lost. It is a lot of work but you really do learn something from him. Hes gives really good feedback and wants you to be better. He has office hours for you to see him which also helps a ton. He can be rude if you aren't prepared with the homework assigned so just do it.

DEFINITION OF A REAL COLLEGE PROF. Smart, funny, engaging, and sincerely cares about his students. Best prof I've ever had! You NEED to put in the work for this class or you WILL fail. Very tough and specific about what he wants, but is always willing to help and guide you if you reach out. Don't take this class if you aren't ready to work!

He's a very hard grader, but that's only because he wants you to do your best. By the end of class a little more than have the students have dropped. Make sure to participate, it will effect your grade. Attendance is mandatory. Do not take this class if you are not willing to work hard.

Mr. Aguilar is an awesome professor. He TEACHES you but I do not recommend taking more than three classes in the semester if you are going to take his class. There are quite a few readings but they're worth it. He wants you to understand exactly how to write a paper and he is always available if you need clarification. I recommend taking his class.

Took him for Comp 1301 and 1302 he was amazing. He really does make you work for your grade. You have to participate and half the class does drop out if not more but if you stick with it and let him help you you will do great! It has carried over to other essays I have written since! I love him can't wait to take one more class he has!

You have to really work hard to get a good grade in this class. He really cares though so if you are struggling with anything I recommend going to see him outside of class. He will do everything he can to help you. Only take this class though if you are ready to work your butt off!

People will tell you that his class is hard and they aren't lying! We had over 20 students to start the semester and ended with about 7. But if you want what a quality university professor this is it. He doesn't "give" grades you EARN them. He expects a lot but not the impossible and he's there to help too. Will prepare you for a 4 year university.

Be ready to read and write lots of papers. You will have homework everyday. If you are willing to learn and be present everyday for class, you will get a lot from his class. He is preparing you for real college. Hard grader, but you will gain a lot from his class if you dedicate yourself.

Professor Aguilar is a great teacher, completely diferent than my 1st eng 1301 teacher, lots of homework of course but in the end it will help your grade. Although he is a tough grader he is accessible outside of class too help out. Keep on track of reading and hwk and use him for extra help on essays and youll pass easily.

Professor Aguilar is not your highschool professor. He is teaching college level and demands a lot from the student. If English was not your thing in highschool, do NOT take him. On the other hand, if you love to write and want to be challenged ,he is your guy. He is very accessible to the student outside class,and his classes are very interesting.

Prepares you not only for future English courses but also just regular academic ones. Amazing and hard lectures. Always come to class prepared and DO THE READING! Gives amazing feedback and criticism on your work and always lets you know what to expect in regards to the course and your assignments. 10/10 would recommend, but be ready to work for it

Professor Aguilar was the best professor I have had so far. He is direct and to the point when explaining things. It is a tough class, half the class dropped over the course of the semester. This was my first class after not attending school for a few years. He is probably the toughest professor Ive ever had. He is pretty particular on how he wants his work to be done and will grade accordingly. Writing comes easily for me and even I had to make use of his office hours. If you take his class, be prepared to use his office hours.

If you want to have the very best essays throughout your entire college career take Prof. Aquilar. I honestly feel if I had not taken his class i would not be the successful student I am today. He is always ready to help a student take advantage of office hours, ask questions and READ YOUR ASSIGNMENMTS! If you are serious about school take him!

Professor Aguilar's class will be very intimidating at first due to his philosophy om maximizing class time. Not a second of class time is wasted and he pushes all of his students every day. There is a lot of classwork that has to be done before class starts to prep and make a more productive class environment. Great Professor all in all!

This is the HARDEST professor I have ever taken. Make no mistake, this is not a fly-by class. Only 6 of us out of the original 25 saw the course through. He is a tough grader, but will teach you proper writing and prepares you for real college courses. You will grind for an A, but that A feels like a million dollars.

This is exactly what college is about! HARD WORK. This is my first SAC professor that took his work seriously and communicated the intentions of the class from the beginning. I went to every office hour available and learned so much from the professor. I'm a better writer because of him. Take him if you want to grow as a student. I worked for my A.

Mr. Aguilar is a tough but fair grader. He doesn't hold you responsible for anything he hasn't taught, and he gives great feedback. In ENGL 1302, he even assigns everyone to rewrite the first essay and the second grade replaces the first. If you're an inexperienced writer, you might struggle but you can easily still succeed with some work.

He makes his expectations known, so no surprises! He does not use Canvas for grading so it is up to the student to inquire about his/her average. Take notes! Study! Pay Attention to the stuff he writes on his board during lectures. If he tells you to read something before class, do it! He pushes students to become better writers. Would take again!

If you decide to take Professor Aguilar, do it at your own risk and make sure to commit. You have to work hard for your grades. DO NOT procrastinate on your essays. Be sure to make appointments with Professor Aguilar for office hours, he is a great tutor when it comes to writing essays. Make sure to participate and communicate.

Prof. Aguilar is the best professor I have ever had. I took his class in 2020 online over zoom in my first semester. He will teach you how to write amazing essays and I guarantee if you take his class seriously you will get an A on every essay you ever write after his class, I have. I am now a senior at UTSA and he is better than any prof. there.

His lectures go pretty fast, so you have to pay attention to what he is lecturing, and be prepared for the instructions he gives out. He tends to be tough when it comes to grading or feedback, but you learn how to become better.

Prepare to work hard in Professor Aguilar's class - it's no easy A. But if you put in the effort, you'll become a better writer. Attend every class, participate, and use resources like unstuck AI for study prep to succeed. Just don't expect an easy A.

His lectures are good , but does give you a lot of information in one day . His lectures teach you how to really analyze the story . My brain went all different directions in his class . But I learned a lot . He teaches you how to be a good writer . If you take this class just know only the strong survive . A lot of homework

Prof. Aguilar is very good when it comes to the teaching aspect, but he can be harsh at times and is a tough grader. He let us rewrite the first essay, but the way he grades is very specific and his Canvas page is a mess. Make sure you show up to class and pay attention.

Attendance matters, very demanding and wants things to be very specific. Take advantage of the rewrite of the essay, and the final grade taking the grade of your lowest grade. Definitely pushes you to be better with how demanding he is.

Great professor but has high expectations! Make sure to utilize his office hours to receive the highest grade possible. You will be forced to work hard for the A!
