She's a good teacher, I guess. If you're not a fan of extremely lame jokes and silly smiles then you'll have a hard time enjoying her class. She's nice. She'll help if you need it. Overall it's a good class, if you're in lower math and need a teacher to guide you excessively. P.S. such a bad comedian.

Very nice woman!explains everything until you get it and in different ways.She makes math easy and fun.Assigns a lot of problems for homework though,just do them in the math lab.Follows syllabus to a T.I recommend to everyone.I'd definitely would take her again.

i had takn 2 math31 b4 i ran in2 ms lopez. she is very very very helpful!!! trust me!!!i use2 have mr. bowles.[i tink dats how u spell his name] very strange n confusing.. but ms lopez is preety cute n she wants to help her student pass... she does give alot of work but come on!!! tis is college!!! anyways its for ur own good...

Before i took her for math 31 i never understood math, EVER! she made everything understandableand she explains everything until you understand it; she's very patient and nice. She does give a lot of homework and her exams are not that easy but if you keep up ur attendance in class and do your homwork you should be fine. Shes cool =]

She is such a great teacher!! I had lost my hopes in ever passin math, but she turned everything around. Teachin methods are helpful and crystal clear. Goes over a problem if u dont understand no matter how many xs she has to go over it. Great sense of humor. Tough grader when it comes to exams. hey just go over every detail before turning it in:)

she trys to make math more complicated by teaching you 5 ways to do one problem, she uses languede to confuse you, shell ask you 2+2 in like 30 diffrent ways. its anoying, she gives about 3 or 4 hours worth of homework every night and a test or quiz every day. so attendance is mandatory. Besides that she is very nice and very helpful. okay

Very Good Teacher. Explains everything very well.. good sense of humor, Tons of HW but it pays off in the end when the Test comes along... Highly recommend taking....

People who don't like her are idiots. She grades harshly on quizzes but she's fair on tests and the hw is only 5% of your grade so you really don't "have" to do it.The subject is difficult, but she's the best algebra teacher i've ever had and i've had about 4 now so people complaining about her teaching are wrong. She really isn't funny though...

Yeah, shes the best Algebra teacher I've ever had! SO helpful. I've been taking this class since 10th grade and finally passed. ( I wasn't on adderall then :P ) I'm not stupid, I just finally had Ms Lopez to help me with things. GREAT teacher. But you do need to study!!! I'm taking her again for Math 20 :)

She is a very helpful teacher.The bad thing are the quizzes. There's quizes every class meeting but she is very clear when she lectures.Mandatory to study if want a high grade in the class.

Best Math Teacher I have ever met! :].She might leave alot of work and you may have to study alot if you want to get a "good" decent passing grade, but if you dont like her might as you drop out. Cant get better and easier than Ms. Lopez class:]

Shes a great teacher highly recomend her. She makes class interesting so you wont be sitting there bored out of your mind. She is friendly and doesn't just go by the books methods she presents the class with a variaty of methods. Studying is required on your part. She makes the class as easy as she can.

Extremely disorganized, took 2 weeks to hand back quizzes, took a test, didnt get it back until the day before the next one, had no idea what to study. Extremely picky and quick to take points off depending on mood .

Let me just start off by say that she is a very sweet person but probably my least favorite teacher. She is very picky about her details when it come to tests and she gets carried away. She had taken off half my points to a problem because it wasn't worded the way she liked it to be. The fact that the HW is online just made it more difficult.

REALLY HARD. She's very clear but she's a really tough grader that will get you for the little things. It costs a lot to do your homework. NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS OVER 6 WEEKS. At least she's really nice.

Absolutely great teacher. Loved her teaching style. She's very clear. There is a lot of homework but it's all done online and it's easy if you pay attention and understand the material. Tests are easy if you understand the material.

this teacher is too fast paced, exaggerated amount of homework(i think that pushed me back and shes not so supportive.)not helpful! she expects you to ask her questions during her office hours! this class was a bad first college experience.

She is very detailed and specific in her lessons. She's always available for office hours and stay after class. HW was done through MathLab online, simple to get 100%. 5 exams (lowest dropped + test corrections)and 10 quizzes. You don't need the book, TAKE CLASS NOTES instead! Overall good teacher, HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I feel that she is very clear on everything. She list step by step before she starts to show the problems. There is alot of hw but it is doable. She is the first math professor i actually understood. If you want to learn math take her!

Ms Lopez is a great teacher, she gives clear explanations in her lectures and if you are unclear on something, dont be afraid to ask or go to her office hours. My experience of her is that she is friendly. In order to pass her class you have to make sure that you study for the exams because that is most of your grade.

It takes her long to give your tests back but over all she's really kind and is willing to help you

Professor Lopez is kind and makes math enjoyable (she is very funny). The class is organized and follows a strict schedule which allows you to know what to expect. If you show up to class everyday, do the homework, and study you will earn the best possible grade. Take her class if you can.

Prof. Lopez is very strict. Cell phone use is prohibited, but you can go to the hall to use your phone. She uses class time very well; she doesn't waste time addressing students' personal problems. Her classroom is a place to learn.

I dont hate math but lets just say I was never good at it. Her lectures are very good, quizzes are tricky but can be very easy when you study. And her exams are hard, but at least she gives you points even if you get the answer wrong . As long as you show your work shell give you points.

I really liked Prof. Lopez. She is an excellent teacher in the way that she is patient, explains things as many times as necessary, offers workshops, and gives good notice of changes to the syllabus, etc. She is, like all math teachers, unbending. She will not let you retake tests. However, she will do her best to work with you. I grew to love her.

I took Miss Lopez for Math 50 fall semester, and seriously wouldn't have passed without her! She is a tough grader, but is hands down the best math teacher I have ever had the pleasure to take. My advice to anyone needing to take a math course at SMC is, TAKE HER CLASS!!! She's so easy to follow, and will happily walk you through a problem.

As someone who has major anxiety when it comes to Math, I would not have passed this class if it was not for her! I took pre-stats in Summer of 2020 and she was clear and helpful in her lectures, always willing to go over a problem a few times and give extra examples if anyone needs it. Doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions. Very kind!

The bad reviews are so unwarranted. Math is extremely difficult for me but this is first time I feel like I actually am able to understand what is going on. She takes time to answer questions and is constantly checking in with her students to make sure they understand each section before moving on, otherwise shes happy to explain again. take her

Professor Lopez is very clear in her instruction, patient, smart, and funny. If you work full-time and are attending night classes, know that sometimes she creates assignments midweek that are then due before the weekend. Don't miss class, be ready to work around the clock, and ask all questions in class, she doesn't answer her emails often.

Professor Lopez is one of the kindest professors at SMC Is she strict? Yes. But is she fair? Yes. It's not her fault that there's a law that makes it illegal for colleges to offer algebra, so half the class finds her pre-calc class hard bc they need to ring back algebra in schools! But she prepares you soooo well for the next math class!!
