She is hard to understand.
Very helpful teacher. She goes slow and doesn't skip a step. She is Oriental so she speaks with an accent, but it's really not that bad. I definitely enjoy her teaching style. Math doesn't come easy for me, but she makes it seem easier than it actually is.
She can be hard to understand because of her accent, but she has no problem going back to rework a problem. Most of the homework and quizzes are online, and you can redo them as many times a necessary until the due date. Tests are part multiple choice, part work-them-out. But she gives reviews,(and answers) which if you do, the tests are easy. :D
the homework is online and fairly easy but she also gives worksheets for each section that are counted as quiz grades. she is somewhat hard to understand but she is willing to go back and help with anything you missed. this class demands that you study often. the amount you study will directly relfect your grade
She is one awesome teacher. She is incredibly nice and will help you whenever you need it. She is very clear when she goes through the steps of every math problem. Online homework is easy and she lets you do them multiple times to get a better grade until it is due. Overall, her class was easy, but SOMETIMES she could get really boring. It was rare.
She is a great teacher! I am not the best at math but she really explains everything and will help you if you need help. If you do the hw and the quizzes online then you will do fine. Test are really easy and I've aced every one of them I've taken so far. I recommend her!
Ms.Duka is a very good teacher she is not very helpful in clss. However if you go to her office she will help you. If you show respect in her class you will learn so much more because she stops class when someone is talking. I would say if you have to take 0312 take her she is not hard just do all of our online homework and quizzes ontime!!
Ms. Duka is very nice. Her accent is easy to overcome after a few days. Explains well and is quite helpful outisde of class. She is always available for tutoring when needed so if you're struggling the extra time is worth it. Quizzes and HW online are unlimited in times you can take them. The reviews prepare you for the tests well, so do them!
She does not explain things very well, she gets easily frustrated. She's a good teacher if you're good at math, but if not you will be completely lost!!!! she moves VERY fast.
She is a great teacher!! She moves pretty fast but if you keep up with her she explains everything with alot of clarity. She is very helpful and you can tell she wants you to pass. Give her respect and she will help you with everything, she always has a smile on her face which is always nice. I would recommend her to anyone.
She's a nice lady, she moves very fast through problems and likes to say you should have already learned this material in highschool, if I already learned it, I wouldn't be taking the class, not very helpful and gets easiy irritated if you don't what your doing. If you struggled in math in highschool then I don't recommend taking her.
professor is very hard to understand and expects you to know the material before she teaches it. I studied 8-12 hours a week and had to fight until the bitter end of the class for the c I got and was surprised that I passed. very hard class.
She's a great teacher, if you learn work fast. She posts the math workbook online, so you don't have to go buy it. She gives homework and quizes online that you can take an infinite number of times, just be sure to do them. You'll have to turn in homework too. I've never used my book, don't buy one. She does have an accent, but it's not too bad.
Fought to the bitter end to receive a low C- all my other classes are A's- this is the one to wreck your GPA. first exam was a 96, then 84, 72 then 56. You will spend hours playing catch-up as she moves too fast through material. Went to her office for tutoring and she is more helpful there, but toward the end, if your not strong in math, you die.
This class is hard! Not because of the teacher but because it is a remedial math. She does move fast & there is little time for questions in class. This is because she has a lot to cover.Go to her office if you are struggling. She is so nice & willing to help. You will use mymathlab A LOT!She gives homework worksheets too. STUDY!
Class is not hard, however she goes through the material extremely fast without explanations as to why things are, as they are. Not for those who have limited time outside of class.
It's a tough course, but that's what happens when you suck at math. She moves very fast through the material but she will answer your questions you have, and she is even more helpful during her office hours. If you're struggling, talk to her! She will help you. Lots of mymathlab+ work, and worksheets. Study a little every night and you'll be fine
SHE IS SO NOT HELPFULL! DO NOT TAKE HER! I've never complained about a professor and this is the first time I do. Please guys be smart and do not take her! her english is not very clear and moves REAALLY fast on the lecture, she gets confused and does not fix her mistakes. A guy in my class had to explain the prblem she messed up! DO NOT TAKE HER!
VERY difficult to understand and can not explain material clearly enough to be fully understood. Speeds through lessons, does not give you enough time to grasp materal.
Really nice lady, but she is a little hard to understand, and she sometimes makes the lesson a little more difficult than it needs to be. If you took at least Algebra 2 in high school it should be easy to make an A in her class.
Currently taking this course... So far: Accent is annoying and hard to understand. Moves WAY too fast through lessons and not at all helpful during class time. Kind of rude as well. Treats you like you are dumb... wouldn't suggest or reccomend to anyone!!!
TERRIBLE!!! She is hard to understand, her hand writing sucks, she treats you like are stupid, she rushes the class, constantly runs over the given amount of time, and she expects you to know everything in the class already. She treats it like a refresher course not a class, mainly she wont finish a chapter yet assign you homework. don't recommend
do not take her!!!! she rushes over lessons she is hard ro understand and she treats you like your not good enough to be in her class. everything the lower comments are saying is true!
She rushs through lessons and stumbles though it as she goes. Expects you to know how to do everything before class and treats you like you are a slow learner if you ask a question. If you are like me and understand math easily and you correct her or make corrections somewhere she seems to get intimidated by you and can get rude. I wouldn't take
Duka is a very nice lady with your interests in mind. The subject it self isn't the easiest for every one, but like most math classes you get in what you put out. We had 12 take home quizzes. I took each one to the the learning lab an hour before class and aced all of them. She will stay with you after to class to make sure you're up to speed.
Very hard to understand. Talks fast. Rushes through the lesson and expects you to understand right away. Tests over too much material. If you aren't a math person like me you will have a very difficult time in class. A LOT of online homework. I've heard from classmates that she is helpful if you reach out.
I absolutely LOVED Mrs. Duka!! She can come off kinda rude at first, but if you truly show her your effort she will show she cares as well. Sometimes she goes a bit fast but she is extremely helpful in office hours!!!!! Also, your homework grade can help improve your grade a lot if you do well on it! Once you get to know her, she's a sweet lady.
I had a B all semester and she gave us a 100 question review for the final with only answers. I failed the final and ended up with a C. Went to see her in her office hours and never showed up. Doesn't try to help you at all. She refused to talk to me when I went to talk to her about my grade at the end of the semester. And I couldn't understandher
Ms. Duka is a sweet lady and knows the material. She is very straight forward with what will be on the test. The tests are easy but they take a while to do, but she also almost always curves the test grades. Be ready to do homework in this class though. The homeworks and quizzes will bring your grade up substantially if you do well on them.
Want an A, read the material before class (work book packet), and even if you didn't understand it she will make it clear. You have to do your hm wk, and quizzes to pass the exams. There's a lot to learn with so little time that class seems to go fast, but outside of class she will go over your questions until you get it. She's great one on one.
Duka is a nice lady, yet VERY unclear and hard to follow. She breezes through the notes too fast to keep up. She expects everyone to understand right away and gets frustrated if you don't. If you do the homework, quizzes, and actually go over the material on your own, it's a very easy class though. (currently have a 98 in the class)
Duka is a great Professor. The only thing is, you must pay attention during lectures because otherwise, you're 100% lost on the tests.
Professor Duka is a very intelligent woman she just cannot speak. Her accent didn't bother me too much but expect to be pretty confused coming out of class. The class came easy to me but only because I was able to teach myself. Would not recommend for those who math doesn't come easy to or at all actually.
Sometimes hard to understand because of her accent, but she is so nice and is willing to help. DO THE HOMEWORK it will affect your grade if you don't. Go to class - it gets confusing if you don't. Drops lowest quiz/homework grades and final grade could replace lowest test grade.
Easy class. She explains things in very simple terms so anyone can understand. Exams are easy if you take notes and do the review. She does have a slight accent, but you get used to it.
She has a strong accent and if you miss a day in class, you miss a huge section of work.
Lectures are incredibly boring. Very dry, dull class. I dreaded going to it.
go to class follow the steps and get a b... 4 tests and a finaly.. lots of online homework but its not weighted much... and isnt so hard... you can pass this class
Her class is good! If you do the homework and know the reviews really well, it's really not that hard. Math is NOT my subject, and I've got a 98 in her class. She is slightly hard to understand at times b/c of the accent but is very willing to help. Go to class, and pay attention, and you'll do just fine.
I would not recommend her class. If you aren't very good at math you will probably not do very well in her class. She teaches very very fast and it is hard to keep up. Mostly had to teach myself but at least for the online homework gave me multiple chances.
If you're wanting an easy professor, don't take Duka. She is very sweet but incredibly difficult. She teaches SO fast and about mid-way through the class you are either completely lost or trying to stay with her. I would suggest an easier class for people that math isn't their strong suit.
The biggest problem I had with Duka was that she is not a great teacher. She teaches at an extremely fast rate and gives you no time to process it. This is NOT the class to take if you have never taken a calc class before. the entirety of the class is copying her work problems that she doesn't explain well and test are hard and she does not curve.
Her lectures are super fast, but as long as you take notes in class(which she provided a packet of for you to fill in), you'll be fine. Her homeworks and quizzes are just like the lecture and she gives Reviews for all the exams. She is picky about you showing your work on assignments and exams though, but she just wants to make sure you know it.
Not the best teacher if you are not good in math. She is extremely fast and has a thick accent, not to the point where you can't understand her though. And she has no sympathy if you miss her class no matter what the reason is.
Has an accent but if you work and do the homework you will get an A
I did bare minimum and made a solid A. Very helpful in office hours. Goes kind of fast in lectures but homework and reviews will set you up great for the test. I would definitely take her class again. I never looked at the book itself but you have to purchase it for the online hw which is assigned every few days.
Not invested in her students at all. She presents all the material factually, but goes very quickly/methodically and doesn't slow down. Multiple choice tests, but even if you get the right answer on a question she will take points off if you didn't reach your answer in a way she likes. Which I thought was very unnecessary. Best of luck.
terrible. do not take her. does not explain things enough goes very fast and very rude. takes no time to help or make sure students understand.
Duka is by far one of the best professors I've had. She knows what she's doing and how to teach it, you just have to pay attention. About 2 homeworks a week online, but they're good practice to understand the concepts as you go. Also helpful in office hours, she gave me tips and reminders on what to expect for tests. Easy A if you make an effort.
She has a pretty thick accent so it was hard to understand her during lecture. Expect homework due every class day and one quiz per week. DO NOT underestimate the online homework, she pulls questions from it for the test. Tests are straightforward, if you do the work and do the end of chapter reviews you will be fine. I won't be taking her again
She is very nice and cares about those who take advantage of her office hours if you need help. Get on her good side, and she'll help you at anytime. She is a great professor!!
She is really nice but she is also a really hard professor to keep up with. During lectures she goes by WAY FAST and it gets to a point where you are either lost or just don't understand anything. She's a tough grader. I wouldn't recommened taking her if you aren't great at math. 4 major tests along with pop quizzes even other week or so.
Tests are worth most of the grade and she wants things done her way or the highway and she will call you out in class so pay attention. also accent is hard to understand at times. I recommend a different professor if available but if you try you can get at least a B.
Professor Duka is a great choice for this class, math isn't my best subject but if you ask to explain something she will. Go to her office hours!!! It pays off in the end for her to see you trying when you are borderline A/B. She also drops your lowest homework and quiz grade and replaces the final with your lowest test grade
This professor is teaching a very simple level of College Algebra. As long as you follow along and do the online homework, you will pass. The exams are more over the basic stuff from the lectures, plus she gives bonus point opportunities on them as well. It was also one of the easiest classes I have ever taken.
Professor Duka seems to always be in a good mood and will help you when ask questions but lectures can be fast paced and hard to understand. The course seemed like review from my pre cal and algebra high school classes. However, I would not recommend this professor unless you are really good at math or ready to work hard for your grade.
Professor Duka is a fine professor. She wasnt my favorite but it was an easy class. Get ready to show your work on EVERY SINGLE STEP of the problem on tests or shell take points off even if you get the right answer, so thats pretty frustrating.
Not a bad professor or class, however, math is my worst subject so I struggled towards the end. Lectures are long and boring. Tests are relatively easy as long as you thoroughly understand the material and short. If your okay at math you'll be fine. If you struggle get a tutor and go to office hours! Nice professor overall. Study and you'll be fine
Terrible teacher. Her thick accent makes it hard to understand. The entire class is her lecturing with no or few questions. Class participation is non existent. Duka breezes over hard concepts without a second thought. She will 100% lose half the class within the first 25 minutes. Pick any other teacher and thank me later.
Good professor, her accent is barely noticeable, she is helpful when you ask questions, great prof gives many examples and goes in depth for lectures. Going over the review and the online homework will help you a ton for the test, she gives lots of practice.
the woman flat out doesn't teach. Her accent Is hard to understand and she has literally no personality whatsoever. It's the equivalent of having a robot teaching you calculus.
Ms. Duka is great! She knows how to simplify math in a way that makes sense. Her teaching style is very fast, but she explains everything well. If you pay attention during her lectures, and do your homework, you'll ace the class. She's clear on office hours and always happy to help. I'd totally take her again!!!
Great math professor, explains everything throughly, attendance is mandatory but that should be expected for a math class to learn the material. Went to her office hours a couple of times when I did not understand a topic and was extremely helpful!!!
I would often blank out during her lectures but the notes that were given were very helpful. Her reviews were very similar to her tests. There was a lot of HW that would have random due dates so I would check that often. If you are not good at math dont take her cause you'll be lost, I would only rec her if you are fairly good at math.
Very difficult to learn from, not very clear with instructions and expects you to learn and understand materials fast. Be prepared for lots of work from course packet and online.
She goes through lessons extremely fast and expects you to understand everything. Does not enjoy or even want to help students when they have questions. You're better off learning through the internet.
Goes through way to fast and is very hard to understand. Even if you get the right answer but dont put the exact steps she wants you get the whole question wrong.
Professor Duka was the worst prof I've ever had. She would quickly work a problem on the board while standing right in front of it, ask if we are "clear," and then erase it. How fast she works and talks makes it near impossible to follow along. And don't bother asking her to redo a problem because she gets mad and says you should pay attention.
Doesnt necessarily teach just works through problems on the board and moves on before anyone can write it down.
She is very very hard to understand and works extremely fast. I had to learn outside of the class and watch tons of youtube videos and get help from friends to make a good grade. Business math isnt a hard subject but she made it hard
She talks so fast and it's hard to understand. She does NOT teach. She just reads from her notes. She is terrible at explaining the material and makes you feel dumb when you ask a question. At the beginning of the semester, you have to print off the course notes and everything in the class is from that. She barely ever goes over anything twice.
I don't agree with the majority of her reviews. She is always very sweet and makes the material really easy to understand. Her exams aren't difficult at all and the reviews are like the tests. She does talk a little fast, but if you ask her to slow down she will.
Shes a good teacher for the most part. Some lessons, she goes faster then she needs too but just ask her to slow down or ask her about it after class. Sometimes the material is unclear and hard but majority of its pretty easy. Test Reviews are EXACTLY like the test.
No. Just no. That is all I have to say.
I'm not sure why she has such bad reviews. Professor Duka has an entire course packet of notes. She posts completed notes and homework answers online. She answers all the questions you ask. Not fast-paced, her notes are several pages over the same subject for you to understand better. Reviews are like the test, but she chooses the easiest ones.
She is seriously super sweet and understanding! She gives out a packet of every single note that we will take the whole semester on the first day of class. She posts the completed notes after class so if you missed you can still have the notes. And if Im being honest, not as much homework as other math classes that I have taken.
If you are having trouble in the class all you have to do is ask for help. She goes out of her way to make sure everyone knows what their doing. Her office hours are helpful.
I'm not sure why Professor Duka has such low reviews on here. She is a very sweet and caring lady who made me understand calculus in a very simple way. If you ever don't understand, just ask a question or visit her after class, she is always willing to help. Tests are very similar to the reviews she gives, I never made below an A on them.
Amazing professor! She has clear notes on everything and is always willing to help. Sometimes she can lecture a little fast but she is very helpful if you go to her office hour. 10/10 recommend taking her class!
Her bad reviews are the people that didn't try. She was always willing to help me whenever I needed it. Her notes are great and she records her lectures. 10/10 recommend!
Prof Duka is a great instructor, and you can tell she really cares that you understand the material. She goes out of her way to explain everything and she is genuine and kind. Definitely would recommend!
When it comes to her teaching you what you are supposed to be learning she does not do it well. She speaks very very quickly and her handwriting is messy. She just speaks out loud what she was writing and when I would personally ask her for help she would just tell me to look at my notes. I do not recommend her for MATH 1324 or any other classes.
She was good and will work with you but expect to do the work and show up to class
During lectures she goes way to fast and will not give the class time to follow and write everything down! She gets mad when you ask questions during lectures and treats her class like high school students. We should be able to ask questions whenever and tell her to slow down as well because we are the one paying her to teach us!
Not a bad teacher. She gives a decent amount of homework so it helps in the long run for more practice for the tests. She gives four exams and a final, final can switch out lowest grade. Also drops lowest WS/HW grade. Multiple WS for each unit, MML, and several quizzes. EC also offered for exams. I'd take her again. Wasn't as bad as everyone says.
She is a very nice lady, but the lectures are terrible. She is hard to understand and goes through material super fast. She gives one page of homework per week but lots of my math labs.
She really does care about what she's teaching and her students. She does go through some notes pretty quickly but it's easy to follow since it's guided notes. Her reviews were really helpful and her exams aren't too hard if you study for them. She gives partial credit where she can and really does want to help! Definitely recommend!
The class was hard and a lot of work because I took an 8-week section, but the review before the test, if completed, was +5 on the test plus she dropped an online homework, worksheet and test grade at the end. I never had to reach her outside of class so I don't know that part but I am taking her again next semester for 1325. be prepared to keep up
Her lectures weren't very clear, and she would often make errors. She is a nice person, but not the best teacher. If you take her class be prepared to go to tutoring quite often. Even though I passed the class I wish I hadn't taken her class. Half the time we would look at each other wondering what is going on. The most stressful class I've taken
Professor Duka was not too bad, however sometimes it was hard to understand her lectures the way she taught them. She relies on the class to participate and will sometimes randomly call on you to answer. She grades the tests pretty hard so watch out for small mistakes. She drops 2 homework and 2 participation grades at the end.
She assigned a lot of homework and was a tough grader. However, I appreciated that we had access to videos online which went over the notes. An A is achievable if you study and put enough effort. She offers 5 points of extra credit on each exam and the Final was fairly easy. In the end, I was able to get a 97 in the class.
Professor Duka is a good professor, she is happy to help you if you need her and cares that you do well in her class. I am not the best in math but she was very helpful. she can go fast at times but if you miss something during a lecture she posts videos and has office hours. she replaces your lowest test grade with the final too! i would take her.
Very nice professor; taught well. The lectures were always very clear. There is a lot of homework, but it's usually not too hard. She does have in-class assignments that you need to be present for. If you show up and do the classwork/homework assigned you should get an A or B. Tests and final exams are just like the reviews. Overall great class
lots of work. semi difficult tests
Lots of work but if you can put in the time, you will get an A. Extra 5 points if you do review and she replaces lowest exam grade with final, as well as 2 homeworks. She was nice and helpful. I would take again as I am horrible at math but I did really well as it was she straight forward.
Her lectures are all over the place and you will struggle to understand them. Having so many online and written homework assignments due a week on top of the exams being due mid afternoon on Saturdays which is inconvenient. She is great at responding to emails fast, but her reply's are NOT beneficial nor does she care!! WOULD NOT TAKE HER!!!!
She expects you to print out the notes/have it on your tablet so you can write the notes with her. Her notes are step by step and have a lot of practice problems. Her physical homework's are the same way. The online homework is awful but that is something Blinn does. If you are a student that needs practice with problems take her!!!
Her 12 week class is easy as long as you go to class, pay attention, and follow along with lectures. DO NOT TAKE HER 8 WEEK CLASS my roommate had her for her 8 week and dropped.
I was in this class for a day and immediately went home and dropped it. I thought I could take an 8 week course because i am good at math, but she made it so hard. She talks to fast and kinda has an accent so hard to understand. My roommate and I called her Duka Puka because we didn't like her that much!
HORRIBLE! I got into a car accident that had me hospitalized and argued with me for an extension. I managed to get all A's for the semester being out of school for a month due to my accident and had to drop her class. By the end of the year there was only 6 people left. Doesn't respond to emails. at least 5 to 6 assignments due a week.
A nice teacher, teaches very well, but has an accent. The classes are very fast paced you have to keep up with her. Very possible to get an A, but youll have to spend alot of time studying.
She acts like we are in middle school, taking peoples phones and will yell at us until all phones and laptops away. even tried taking away someones ipad they were taking notes on. She is rude and will not help you. if you value a good prof then stay away from her. you can't understand her english, she has a thick accent and doesn't repeat herself.
Professor Duka is a caring instructor who wants you to succeed. While the lectures can move quickly, she provides helpful resources like videos and office hours. unstuck ai is a great study tool alongside the class materials. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.
worst teacher, bro has the thickest accent and goes so fast during lectures you can barely write down material. She gives so much homework and the tests are very difficult. DO NOT TAKE! I had to drop her class and half of our class dropped
I think this class would be a bit easier if it was with a different professor. Professor Duka is not easy, she goes fast in class and doesn't like to stop lecturing to answer questions. my class started off very full there is now like 9 people in my class, this class has a lot of homework, quizzes and the exams aren't easy at all. DONT TAKE.
she's a good math teacher, always explains if you need her to. she is pretty fast with her lectures but she cares about her students. she assigns A LOT of homework and there's so many papers. she requires u to turn in papers before u can leave but overall she's not the worst.
DO NOT take unless you want to suffer. Dropped the class early. Weekly tests, 8 assignments/week, super strict. Hard to understand lectures, strong accent, not helpful. Had to buy a whiteboard & stack books to take tests. Way too much stress for an online class.
Hard to understand her accent. Expects you to print out a LOT of paper for in class notes.
She is ok. She has an accent but is not too difficult to understand. The class is definitely difficult but I did well by just studying the given reviews and doing all the homework. She is helpful if you ask a question, but don't expect to understand most things by just going to class. Had to reteach myself everything. Most people dropped.
Im already naturally really bad at math and she managed to make this class a living hell for me. She goes through the lecture at the speed of light and never stops to explain why she's solving the problem the way she is. The only reason I managed to pass this class was because I got a tutor to help me, without my tutor I would've failed
