Horrible Teacher..Put students down..Expected you to learn on your own
Horrible teacher, goes too quickly through the course material and won't help.
Smart, but doesn't know how to teach anything! Also looks like a pelican!

Gives a lot of homework, but beneficial in the long run. Not very understandable, try to help though.
Tons of homework. It helps out in the long run though because she grades the homework easy, so it can boost your grade. Its a workload though, dont plan on having much free time. Tells corny jokes too.

Gives a lot of homework, btu very beneficial. Will help you if she can tell that you are trying. Good teacher.
Way too much work. Tests are ridiculously hard. Got an A but spent my entire free time working on homework for this class.
I HATE her! She goes on and on about organizations and doesn't teach at all. She needs to understand that her class is not the only one a student has. Avoid her at all costs, however if you are an accounting major you're probably not going to be able to.
Gives way too much homework. You will have no freetime with this class. Tests are ridiculous-A CPA couldn't finish her test in an hour. Thank god for the homework, or no accounting majors would graduate from our college. Appearance is unprofessional
One of the best accounting teachers. She's hillarious if you get to know her. I would take her for every single class if I could. Honestly! Be prepared to work, lots of homework, and lots of out of class work. But you learn, and it pays off.
Dr. Archambault is a tough professor. She assigns lots of busy work. Although there is lots of busy work you have opportunities to earn extra credit. You must go to class everyday to keep up. She just gives you basic notes dont really teach the stuff.
is the WORST accounting teacher I have had at marshall...she does not explain anything to you and when you ask her a question she laughs and makes smart alleck comments
I went into this class with a positive attitude, thinking I could get along with her. She is impossible to get along with. She makes you feel like an idiot when you ask questions. You won't learna a thing. I want to know how she still has her job b/c of her poor attitude.
Terrible teacher! She thinks everyone should have the same level of accounting knowledge like she does. But if we all do, why do we still need to take the courses??? You will feel humiliating when you ask questions because she acts like you are an idiot.
Very nice lady and I think she's really funny. Be prepared to work your tail off though. Nice thing is the extra credit. You can fail every single test, but if she sees that your not a jag-off you'll pass with a B.After U get out of intermediate her classes are cake.!!Impossible 2 fail her classes!!
You won't like her in ACC 311, but she gets better with time. I've had her for 3 different classes and she's become one of my favorite professsors. You will eventually appreciate all the hard work she requires you to do.
Avoid her at all cost. She does not know how to teach, or answer questions. She thinks she's smart, but she is an idiot. Her urgly face scares me in class too. She should be fired as an accounting teacher in my opinion.
Terrible! You have to work SO hard in this class to even remotely understand anything she is talking about.Got a B but did not learn anything cuz she does not teach-AT ALL!I had SO MUCH hw I never had time for reading let alone other classes!!WAY TOO MUCH HW!Be prepared to eat-sleep-breath ACC!
I have had a her a few different times and she is hard. Does give lots of homework, but with all the points you have it can be easy to pass if you study. You DO have to study alot to pass though. She gets off the subject very easily and I don't like that. I am there to learn relavant material.
sucks
This class is an upper level accounting class. So noone really expects it to be easy. But I think there is a problem when the highest grade on the midterm is a 66%. Noone even got a C. And she continually says "you guys don't know this stuff like you should." Well, no @$%# Sherlock; maybe we'd have a clue if you'd teach us some of it.

this woman is a bi*** and u should try to avoid her at all costs. the material is already kinda hard to understand and she makes it sooo much of a harder class with the huge amounts of hw she gives out. she teaches the class like u have no other life and no other classes.
You can't avoid taking the class if you're an accounting major. And we've all complained soo much. Yeah, there's a lot of homework, and yeah the material is hard. But if you come to class everyday and do all of your homework, you should be able to pass easily. Her examples aren't very helpful, but you can get through it. Just do all the work!
This woman makes a class impossible. The material is pretty hard to begin with, but she makes it seem like its written in another language. You can't avoid her, so just make sure you go to class and don't get on her bad side.
I hate this woman with the fire of 1000 suns. You all know why. Sadly it is pointless to complain about her. We have to take her. However, DO NOT TAKE HER if you are NOT and ACCOUNTING major. We will consol each other with tears now...
This professor seems to only care about herself and not her students. She is not helpful if you confront her and is a little demeaning
Awful, Assigns alot of homework! Be prepared to worship your accounting book for the next semester. I like the extra credit opportunities however.
This woman is completely insane & she scares me. I would never ever take her again. *Note to accounting majors--you can take independent study classes @ LSU that will count @ Marshall for 312, 412, & advanced--you can bypass her. It's $230/class. VERY EASY. Go to is.lsu.edu to check it out.*
If you have a problem with her then go talk to the dean or assistant dean about it. If we all speak out then something is bound to happen.
Very good professor in Marshall University. If you want pass your CPA exam in the future, better take her class, that will make it very easy when you taking the exam. She got lots of homework for you, but all the practice will help you pass the financial part of the CPA exam.
ACC 312 and 414 are very difficult but you learn a lot. Tons of required homework that forces you to learn the material. You will hate her classes but you will learn a lot and be happy you took them when its over. You won't learn much from her, 90% of the material you will teach yourself through the texbook. Get a study group going with classmates.
I would venture to say this is the most demanding class on in the College of Business. Expect 10-20 hours of homework a week. The class goes so fast it is hard to learn if you do not keep up with reading the chapters and doing the homework. Shes very intelligent and sometimes overestimates the intelligence of her class. But you have to take her so.
This woman is satan.
This is a 400 level class so it is hard and time consuming. I didn't mind the homework but I have never had such a horrible professor. I pay tuition 2 learn not 2 b ridiculed in front of my classmates.Hello if I knew it all I wouldn't need her. I suggest if you must take a class she teaches choose a different college like State or something close!
I had for 311, 312, Adv, and Gov. There are not enough words to describe the misery. If you had not found religion before taking her, you will while taking her... just pray you'll pass. Asking questions doesn't help... neither does arguing with her. She is very intelligent... it's too bad she doesn't want to share her knowledge with you. Good luck!
It's only a halfway through the semester but I've managed an A in 312. Her class is very time consuming. Her class will take a toll on grades in other classes. With that being said, if you do all of your homework, she does give you a lot of extra credit so even if you do bad on your test, which is stupidly hard, you can still make a good grade.
This is the most psychologically challenging class I've ever had, she tries to make you feel like like your harder behind than you are. But you do learn a lot in that class so go everyday and do your Homework she gives extra credit for homework that she calls on you for.
Hopefully if you have made it to Advanced you have survived enough acc classes to know what you've gotten yourself into. In this class, you MUST do all the homework or you have no chance of survival. You will learn more in this class than in any other class & it should prepare you for CPA. That said, this woman is evil. I think she lives in a cave.
Dr. Archambault's attitude toward teaching is abysmal. In class, she speeds through the material, when it is clear that the class is struggling with what was taught the week before. In one-on-one situations, she is curt and pedantic. Her grading is extremely harsh, and the test questions often deviate from covered material, especially with IFRS.
She's totally helpless!!!!!!!!If you have her courses, God bless you, the only thing is helpful is learning by yourself. And if you ask your classmates for help, like discussing the assignments, that is cheating!!!!!In her class, all people have to fight by their own, and she is making it like that no one is your friend!!!!!
You know how some professors you can either stay after class or go to their office if you need help? DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.
Do not take her!! She makes it very clear that she believes she is the smartest person on the campus and snubs you if you ask questions or are confused. You can take her 312 and 414 classes at other campuses online like morehead state. She will say that these classes don't transfer over, but the actually do.
Ridiculous amount of homework. Horrible lectures.
DO NOT TAKE HER, AVOID HER. She is the worst professor I have ever taken a class with. And this was a graduate level course! She is not clear, DOES NOT help, and do not care if you get a bad or good grade. Long lectures, even if she finished earlier, she will find something to keep you. You should try hard not to take with her. She is helpless.
I switched my major right before my senior year because of this class. She makes you hate your life, and accounting. It's extremely unreasonable and don't even think about asking her for help. If you want to seriously pursue accounting, don't attend Marshall University. Her husband is the department chair so she's not going anywhere anytime soon.
Never have I had a professor that I despise more than Marie. I loved Accounting before I had her class but she completely ruined it for me and many others. She is not helpful and does not care about her students at all! AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. you've been warned...
She is literally the most difficult professor I have ever had. She talks to her students like they're dumb. You have to buy her note packet, then she just reads it to you in class. Quizzes are given every class and there's only 2 tests which make up half your grade. if you can avoid her, do so.
I absolutely LOVED accounting until I took Marie Archambault. I had SEVERAL mental breakdowns because of this w(b)itch and was failing miserably while putting more work into this class, than all my other accounting classes combined. She verbally harasses her students and will make you feel so dumb. I am currently taking her classes elsewhere.
Great teacher for CPA exam
I sat through the first class and decided against taking her. I bypassed her and took Intermediate 2 & 3 at Morehead online. I took an elective there also. I plan on taking ACC 414 there as well also.
I think comments on here are too critical. She's difficult but so is the CPA. If she would not have pushed me in this class that CPA would have ben a nightmare. Don't go to other schools to take her classes just suck it up and be a good student. If you put in work you will get a decent grade and be prepared for real life/CPA. I passed b/c of her.
Look, this class is an acid test for the CPA exam. If you can't survive this you won't pass the CPA exam. She is minimally involved but at least she lectures which is more than some in the department. Her tests are very hard and you have to read and memorize the entire chapter. It's a sink or swim class. Good luck, you're going to need it.
Marie drowns you in HW every week and gives late, minimal, & mostly incomprehensible, feedback. 3 chapters are covered in 1 class through quizzes and lecture. The tests are MISERABLE. She does give a great test overview the class before. STUDY EXACTLY WHAT SHE SAYS FOR THE TEST! Be 100% dedicated to this course all semester and you'll survive.
Disgraces the teaching profession & a dis-service to students. There are better ways to teach accounting, hard-working students deserve better. Required research too much for her; she puts teaching, students & lesson planning on back burner. Classic example of a teacher not being prepared for her classes - such a disappointment.
She's a lot more easy going in the upper level classes. But this class is super hard. International material is THE worst. She curves so just hope that it's enough to pass with what you want. Put in an effort in everything though and go to her office with questions if you're stuck-she's much nicer there than in class.
I took this for the 3+2 program. She mellows out in comparison to 312 & 414. The class was pretty interesting overall. More in-class examples than her other courses. Get the service learning project over with ASAP & do the same with the two projects (Gov & NFP). Study hard, put forth the effort & she'll reward you with a passing grade.
Dr. Archambault is without a doubt the worse professor I have ever had, and is just not a nice person in general. When students ask a question, instead of helping the students learn, she chooses to belittle students. She should have a job where she does not have to interact with people since she does not know basic manners or how to treat people.
TERRIBLE. This class was one of my worst experiences. She does not explain anything and expects you to know everything. The HW is never anything like what we have gone over but you are still expected to be able to do it. The text book is also no help. GOOOOD LUCK
She will challenge you & expose you to more than any other. Tough grading but it's fair considering mass easy points, extra credit, and a curve. Derivatives will murder you and make you reconsider accounting. Read (she even provides summary notes!), do the HW, & go to her office for help during the designated times. Wish I had her for 312!
Too much HW. Heavy preparation for tests. You have to spend more than 20 hours on one project, which only occupy 60/1040. What you have learned from the textbook and in class is not enough to solve problem in tests because all the contents of test are from AICPA.
She is the worst professor Ive ever had a Marshall. She is extremely unhelpful, she tries to make you feel stupid any chance she gets, and just isnt a goodbye teacher in general. This is very much a teach yourself class, that will take up the a lot of your time. I would say avoid her at all costs, but I think it is inevitable.
SHE. IS. HORRIBLE.
You want an (A) in this class, then be prepare to have a good basic and intermediate accounting knowledge; able to study consistently over the semester. Participate, and answer every question Marie asks you; eventually, she will like you and you will be proud to be her student. Marie is very nice and helpful inside and outside the class. Good luck.
Lots of work because it prepares you for the CPA exam and public accounting. Easy points, extra credit, and a curve. I'm currently studying for FAR and I'm glad I had her for 414 last year. Would be helpful to have her teach 312 again. If you can't handle her classes, I don't know how you would handle the CPA or public accounting.
Amazing professor. At first I didn't like her. She made you feel ignorant, but if you be patient, work hard, study, show up to every class, and put in an honest effort you will accomplish more than passing 414 & 499. Most students now are outsourcing 414 because she's "too difficult" it'll only negatively impact you in the future. Tough it out.
ACC 414 is the hardest I have took so far. So much homework due every single class. The exams are way harder than the practice exams given in class. Marie does not explain materials clearly during lectures, but if you will go to her office she will help you. She is definitely a tough grader. Great opportunities to get extra credits.
Terrible teacher. assigns so much homework that it is overkill. NEVER TAKE HER. She has no regard for students taking other classes with the workloads in other classes as well. terrible terrible teacher
In college you will find that most professors are collaborative, not Marie, she is confrontational. I stood outside her office once for almost an hour to ask a question and she sat in her chair and stared at me without answering. I finished a M.S. in Accounting and J.D. afterward and looking back, she is the worst instructor I have ever had.
Marie is the toughest accounting professor at Marshall, but her classes are really good at ensuring you know the material because you will not pass if you do not. To strengthen concepts, she does have a lot of homework and gives a lot of points related to attendance and participation. However, she also offers plenty of extra credit opportunities.
Here's the deal. This is the hardest accounting course offered at MU. To survive you MUST speak during class, be educated in topics (she favors those who aren't illiterate), do hw (even though she takes up less than 50% of it), and work HARD. Also, the group project is by far the hardest assignment. This class is a marathon not a sprint.
Dr. Archambault is a great professor. Although her classes are tough, you will learn a lot as she covers a lot of topics about accounting for governments and NFP's. She has lots of projects as well. Don't worry, she curves your grade at the end and offers plenty of extra credit so the chances of not passing are slim unless you just don't try.
This class is hands down the worst class I have ever taken. Think again if you enjoy your free time or do well in your other courses. Your time will be spent doing 50 assignments, half of which are not graded. You will not know your grade in the course the whole semster and the significant assignments won't be graded until grades a due.
If you want to make a concept like ethics difficult then take her. Otherwise, I would avoid this class at all costs. The book is hard to read. You'll mostly be teaching yourself through all the mass amounts of homework she assigns. She doesn't add much in lectures other than your participation. Knowing her political idealogy for exams may help.
Marie is not a nice professor. she does not care to pass anyone. Please avoid this professor.
I wish I had waited a year to take her replacement. Worst class ever - can't believe I made it out. Be grateful she's retiring!
This is the second most challenging accounting course at Marshall. The only one more difficult is ACC 311 by Price. There are tons of case studies, analysis assignments, etc etc etc. the exams are medium difficulty. Also, for the cases, make sure to answer *every part* of *every question* and *why*. She is a very tough grader. Good luck!
Class would be hard but its easy with chatgpt. Everyone in our class used ai, it works great, just dont get caught
She teaches an accounting capstone that revolves around the importance of Ethics. Quite funny when you realize her husband was the interim dean while I took her class. I have been in the work force for a few years now and can tell you that I have used absolutely zero of what I learned in her class. Do not take this class until she is gone.
One of those professors who has never left the academic bubble (never actually had a career job in the field). Thinks doing tons of pointless homework prepares you for a job (youll never use anything from this class ever). Claims there's no wrong answers, but will take off points for something she doesn't agree with or understand.
