She tries to make the class interesting. She offers alot of help for the papers in her class. However, I really don't recommend her as a professor. you might struggle through the class.

She's a really nice, interesting teacher. The classes are very relaxed just like seminars. Don't get on her bad side though. She hates it when you're late and you're only allowed 3 absences. Not a very hard grader though.

you should pay attention to what ideas she says about the stories to do well on papers, and GO TO HER OFFICE hours, she will always tell you things that you need to change and things that she is looking for that she doesnt say in class, hard to get an A

Wonderful and lovely Teacher! She made English so interesting! You do have to prepare and read a lot for each class so don't take it if you are a slacker. Make sure you come prepared and participate in class discussion.

GREAT eglish teacher! Go to her office hours if you want or need extra help with your papers. Class is always better if you do the reading. Duh!

ABSOULUTELY fabulous lady, I absolutely love this woman. Classes are great--you just read and write papers. She writes comments and suggestions on your paper when you get them back, if you follow them your grade will rise. AND she has an English accent.

Great teacher!! All you have to do is write down what she discusses in class and put it in your essays. No quizzes or tests, just papers. She is very helpful too if you ask for help. I have no complaints at all about her, and definitely recommend her!!

She was very interesting but it was very hard for me to get anything higher then a C on my papers. I would recommend her to anyone that is up for a challenge.

Had her one summer, LOVED her! She was a very passionate professor and took into consideration other people's ideas, not just textbook analysis. Unfortunately, she does pick favorites but an easy A if you take notes in class during discussions. Awesome lady, for people who love literature!

The only work for this class was reading and papers. She is a harsh grader but you will leave the class a much better writer. She is extremely nice and I really enjoyed her class. (Also, I didn't notice that she picked favorites.)

so, i hate english classes, but she made it pretty bearable. she'll help you out, but you have to work and do you stuff, and she's a pretty tough grader. she expects a lot from you...not the easiest class.

She is an INCREDIBLY hard grader. The highest I could get on papers was a B, even after taking my rough drafts to her multiple time; however, it's not a terribly difficult class in itself. All you do is read and write and the discussions tend to be interesting.

Thanks for getting me to enjoy english! She is the best professor I've ever had. She is really really hard, but you walk out of the class a much better writer. Great prof. Intersting, helpful, but challenging. not a blow-off class. you'll actually work for her. papers aren't hard, but they aren't easy either. if you can take her, you definetly should.

She is very nice, if you are a favorite. Talk a moderate amount in class and she will like you. Do the reading because she will just call random names to talk about it.

LOVE HER!!!!! She's so fun and bubbly even at 8AM. She does play favorites a little bit but welcome to the real world! She bends over backwards to help her students if you go to her during office hours...if i had a choice i'd take her again

Pay attn. when everybody says SHE PICKS FAVORITES... because she soooo does! I wasn't one of them. I wrote a killer essay and she gave me a B because of 3 grammatical errors (it was a 5 page paper and they were stupid errors like semicolon stuff... ew!) Take her if you plan on kissing butt and ALWAYS SHOWING UP.

I thought she was a great teacher. She doesn't require a lot of work but she is pretty tough on grades. Just participate in class and try hard on your papers and you should do fine.

A nice teacher with a cool accent. The class usually lets out a little early. The paper topics are analysis on the readings. She grades a little harsh on the papers in class (like most of the other prof. at C of C).

Not the easiest course, but fair. Your effort will reflect in your grade. Gives examples for all writing assignments as well as clear instructions. Available during office hours unlike some. If you want to learn something then take this class. I would take her class again.

Fantastic TEACHER! If you want to learn something take anything she teaches. If you just want your ticket punched go to someone else.

Definitely tends to play favorites but just answer a lot of questions and act like you know what you're talking about. Also, she likes a well organized paper more than anything.I wrote very elementary, but organized and got an A.

Not only does she have a great accent, but Dr. Fitzwilliam is just all around awesome. She makes class fun but is snarky and quick witted at all of the right moments. She is always available to help after class and is extremely interested in her students succeeding- she understands that we are often reflections of her competence as a teacher.

She picks favorites, yes, but you'll totally be one if you're not a complete moron. This class is NOT hard. If you have a few brain cells to rub together and expect it to be an actual english class, then you'll be fine. And of course she grades harshly on grammar and syntax, it's english. Nice lady, but boring if you're smarter than a plant.

Great teacher. Show up, put an ounce of effort in (i.e. don't text during class), and you'll get a good grade. Anyone who thinks she's difficult must not try very hard. In our section, she was testing a new text book (which was very interesting) so it seemed more like a sociology class.

She is an intense woman. I am very impressed with her teaching style. Yes, she doesnt give grades away but she does give you the tools to succeed. If you get a bad grade, blame yourself. Yes she has favorites but I dont ever see her put down everyone else. Just talk in class and she will like you. Gives random quizzes sometimes but I still love her

She definately makes English fun. If you do the readings and participate in the discussions you'll have a good time in the class. She's very clear on what she's looking for and very helpful. I always got B's, but I didn't put as much effort into writing the paper as I could of. Take time on your papers and youll have no trouble in this class.

She is funny, easy to understand, and overall nice. The hardest part is finding "sources" for two important essays. If you're a good writer, she'll love you. Definitely speak up in class during discussion and she'll love you as well. Workload includes a few poems and 3 plays, nothing too hard - just make an effort and you'll be fine!

Nice lady, but the class was just so boring. I struggled on a daily basis to stay awake. Very tough grader on essays. Unless you are an exceptional writer, do not expect an A. Most people get B's.

Highly recommend taking her! She is an awesome teacher and very fashionable :) She is always there to help if you need it. She also gives you an opportunity to fix part of your papers to receive a higher grade.

She has a cute british accent and is a nice person. She can play favorites, however, and you can definitely tell if she likes you or not. Essays weren't a problem for me but she can be a hard grader. If she thinks you're not putting in effort, your grade will suffer. Just talk to her and prove you're dedicated and you'll be fine

Dr. Fitzwilliams is the only person who has ever made British Literature interesting for me. Her class is very much focused on class discussion so speak up. She is very insightful and very nice. Her two essays weren't that bad neither were her final and midterm would definitely take her again. I love her and her class!

What an awesome lady! She truly does care how her students do and if they understand. A lot of reading and papers, but most of it is interesting. Classes are enjoyable. There is almost no way to fail this lady's class if you show up and do the work because she is such a good professor. You will learn a lot and it will not be painful!

Dr. Fitzwilliam is a fantastic teacher, very knowledgeable and adorably kind. Wish I could have taken more than one class with her! Helpful and encouraging, she loves her subject and makes it interesting!

Good professor. Interesting reading assignments that aren't ridiculously long, and stimulating lectures. Two tests and final on reading assignments. Seven little papers. One big paper towards the end. Not incredibly difficult, but I felt like I learned alot as well. She expects you to talk during discussions so definitely do the readings every time

Best english teacher at CofC! She goes over the material so thoroughly that you know exactly what to expect on the tests. Extremely easy class if you attend fairly regularly and take notes. She is very willing to help and makes class interesting. Mostly discussion based.

One of my favorite professors I've had so far. Lots of reading and writing, but they're easy for the most part. Material is interesting. She's super helpful and approachable w/ a cool accent. Attendance is very mandatory. But I was sick a lot of the semester and she helped me out. Learned SO much. Def take her!!

Love, love, love her! She's super nice and makes sure her students understand everything clearly. It's an easy class if you just put in the effort, which is not a whole lot. Probably my favorite teacher.

Fitzwilliam is the BEST. Not only has she been extremely helpful with my development as a writer but she also shows a great deal of patiencecompassion. Before taking her English 110 class, I couldn't write a paperessay to save my life. (400 on my writing sat) But now i am extremely confident in my ability as a writer now. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The writing topics can be hard sometimes, but she will go out of her way to explain them.

Fitzwilliam is simply a wonderful professor. Her class is mostly discussion-based and the readings are easy. Her main goal is to make you a better writer. She gives very helpful feedback in conferences and she's more than willing to look over other papers too, which I would highly recommend! Overall she's super nice and has a great sense of humor!

She is not terrible but there is a LOT of writing in this class. All the other English 110 classes are reviewing movies, and this class we wrote over 6 papers. She is nice but is a tough grader when it comes to ridiculous things. If you decide to take her don't drop but be ready for some work!

Dr. Fitzwilliam is great! There is no tests just papers. She gives you tons of class time to work on papers and for the major papers, she will meet with each student individually to discuss their draft. If you send her your entire draft make all the changes she suggests, you will get an A! Put in effort, come to class and you will do very well

Didn't like her at first, but as the semester went she became more friendly. Get ready to write many papers, all of different styles and topics. She is honestly a good teacher but is a hard grader. Definitely need to try hard to do well.

Dr. Fitzwilliam is amazing! I usually struggle to pass english classes, but she made the class a breeze. She challenges the students to do their best, and is willing to help you throughout the writing process. It is impossible to get lower than an A. As long as you participate, do the work, and let her look over your papers, you will do well.
