Very happy prof! Must love math, teaching or both! Class very structured! You will learn! MUST SHOW ALL WORK! Dont fret! It helps you in the end! Shows multiple ways of doing problems and breaks down all the steps. Overall great Prof!

Demanding. Has high expectations but is glad to help. Uses lots of visual aids.

very good teacher. explains very clearly! except her name is marie not donna.

Felt liked she didn't explain things very well.

Math is very hard for me, but at least Marie made it tolerable. She is very good at explaining and using visual aids. The math department, overall, is horrid, but she's a pleasant surprise, a diamond in the rough!
very confusing, multiple students leaving angry and confused
She is very helpful, explains everything well, and very nice.

She is extremely nice and very helpful, the only people that say they don't like her are the ones that are unwilling to listen, learn, pay attention and understand. I thought she was awesome.
Unclear teaching. She's really nice, she just doesn't put up with excuses and ****.
She was very nice for the most part. If a person does the work the extra credit (there are many ways to get it) they will do fine. Hwever she did make some comment about the part-time faculty that was not nice, basicly saying they don't count. Personally I have had many P-T Prof. that were great.

She is horrible. She puts on this fake smile and says "math should be like a game" Sorry I don't play games. She also doesn't help everyone like she should. She has favorites and ignores the rest.
She is a math teacher that is dislexic.
This woman was spawned directly from hell. She takes a relatively easy math course and makes it as hard as she possibly can by making the student write about various formulas. Last time I checked this wasn't English class. Stay clear and by the way she looks like a witch.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had. Don't take her class unless you want to have an undying hatred of all numbers for the rest of your life. She really does look like the Wiked Witch of the West...
I think people need to give her a break! Just because she may have a different way of problem solving than you do, doesn't make her a bad teacher. If I had to take another math class, I would have no problem taking her again!
It is not fair to judge people on looks or anything of that nature. This should only be based on her ability to teach and to help. I do not fail anything that I work at, but I did this class by 3 points. I had asked for help numerous times and did not receive help. She does not return e-mails and she grades unfairly as compared to other peoples tes
She gives ridiculous amounts of homework, her tests aren't the hardest, but they aren't easy either, and she is quite rude to people who are asking for help. It is really hard to learn anything in her class if you don't even understand her lectures. If you really want to have a teacher that makes you want to pull your hair out, then take her.
Very great at explanations, very organized. Have to be able to take notes fast and pay attention. Offers extra credit throughout the quarter.Comes off mean at first but warmed up later on.Alot of homework but that is how you learn.
Very DECIEVING.....she leads you own until the drop days are passed and then her care factor even drops further away....
If you are a nursing student, DO NOT take Stroh. She is a nice lady and has 5 children (which I respect) but for some odd reason nursing students just do not seem to be on her priority list. She always says "this is a math class not a nursing class" so when you go to her class (as a nursing student) be prepared to be criticized.
What's important to know about Mrs. Stroh is that she has a degree in pure mathematics (as opposed to applied math). She knows the material, and teaches it in a clear and understandable fashion. However, she is somewhat biased towards higher level math classes. So she's really good if you're taking calculus, but not as good for something like 101.
She is a cery picky teacher. She takes points off for everything you can think of. She is not open for discussion on anything. Confusing when trying to teach you how to do a problem.
Marie is the best teacher I've ever had. She cares about her students, but you do have to stay up on the material!
You have to remember that even though the NSG dept. requires it, she is NOT a nursing insructor. You are there to learn the formulas and YOU apply them to nursing.I thought she was very helpful and made it clear what was expected. The only confusion in the class was about abreviations and labels.
She is aweful!!!! I had her for MAT 101 and MAT 116...I dropped both classes. She expects way too much. If you like math take her b/c she will definately make you do a lot of math problems. It was so much that i didnt have time to do other homework for other classes. She really doesnt have much of a fun personality either.
Stroh grades really hard, but she gives the best notes I've ever seen a Math prof. give.
She makes you write two papers that are supposedly mandatory and the homework is crazy.
This lady is ridiculous, if you get stuck in her class good luck. I tried and failed. More power to those who feel they can do it. Lot's of homework, test's don't reflect the homework assigned and confuses the student tremendously.
How fast can I get it on the board and get out of here. Not personable....Not helpful...Moody snobbish personality.....The first day she was great but after that decieving until drop day..then bam, reality sets in....lot of homework with little explanation.
dosen't care if everyone flunks as long as material is covered
I don't understand her bad reviews. She very much cares about her students and tries to make you understand. Math is hard don't blame the Professor for that. And on top of it, shes not bad looking for her age.
She did good. I'm just not a math kind of person. Marie definitely has a passion for math that I could never expect to understand or expect anyone else to understand. It was a difficult class, but I expect that if I'd tried to pay attention more, it would have been easier.
Ms. Stroh was extremely helpful and ready to answer any questions we all had in class. She wanted us to not only learn the math but also to find some enjoyment in it, and I think she successfully achieved that.
Really nice as a person but I wouldn't recommend her as a teacher. My whole class didn't like her. She graded all of our tests really hard and didn't seem to take into account other events that happened. She critized another girl and me for arriving late for class one time, even though I had explained that my class right before that ran late.
Reasonable.
She is wonderful! Her expectations are clear. Study for your tests and do your homeowork, I honestly don't know what these students are complaining about. She offers up to 50pts extra credit.
Great teacher! She really explained how to do the problems well. Lots of homework, but she makes sure you know the material. Lots of extra credit too!
I hated this woman. The whole class scored low on tests and she just kept saying "Don't worry. If you got over a 60 you're doing fine." I believed her and ended up with a C. Do not take her, she's terribly unhelpful and gets easily frustrated when you don't understand right away. One of the worse teachers I've had at Sinclair.
This woman was horrible,if you are a nsg student DO NOT take this woman almost the whole class failed by 3-4 point, she is rude, loses homework, after drop date she cares even less. I hated it, she offered no help, just said pass the final, I can not express how much i hate this woman! She gets upset if you ask question or dn't get it. worst teach e
This instructor is a liar! Do not take this teacher. you will be made to look/feel stupid for asking questions in class. Offers no help. Will only teach in deminsional analysis and will not teach in proportions. Will hurry thru the hardest parts we spent more time on basics. REPEAT don't take this instuctor
she is a good teacher. there is some question about her losing homework and things like that but she is really not that bad. i know someone said that she is not helpful after the drop date this is just not true. the content gets harder as the course goes on and goes fast. so study hard no matter what teacher you have.
The big problem I saw was that grades were not posted to web. I still have not seen the grade of my last two exams. With the graded papers I have, my grade doesn't add up. Esp with extra credit done.Posting grades should be required for all profs. For that reason I would not recommend her. She was not organized.
Most of us passed with As and Bs except for those who were lazy and didn't do thier homework. This class is not hard, everything is basic calculations. Her teaching is very clear and you will know what to expect on exams. If you think this is hard and are complaining, maybe nursing is not for you.
She cover the work well and assigns a ton of homework. She requires 4hr a day of study time just for her class alone and the messed up part about it is most of the stuff on the test are things that she didn't give previous examples of. It makes you think why even waste time studing.
If you loving doing homework then this is the teacher for you. Expect to do +4hrs of work everyday. She is also an extremely hard grader too so even if you feel like you earned an ++A you can count on a C.
Marie Stroh is an awsome Intermediate Algebra teacher. She is patient and lets you ask as many questions as needed. She makes instructions clear and precise. Her work is hard, but as long as you stay motivated, you will be fine. She is always freindly and nice and always trying to get to know her students more personally. KUDOS!!
Not a full professor or even a professor for that matter. She is an associate professor, check out her qualifications through sinclair community college. I felt offended every time I entered the room. She moves incredibly fast and it feels as if you are simply writing and aren't learning anything. I found it to be impossible to pass. Gets an F.
A very nice woman who is genuinely concerned about her students doing well. But not a great teacher. She assigns a ton of homework, and half the time I had no examples to work with to help solve the problems. I would not recommend taking her if you can avoid it. If not, buy the student solution manual.
Mrs. Stroh is a great instructor! She is very helpful, and always makes sure you understand the material. She does give homework so you practice but your grade is not solely based on 4 test grades. You get homework points, group activity points, and lab points which helps to pad your grade. I would totally take her again if I had to take more math!
Assigns alot of homework. Fair grader for tests. Notes are very clearly done. Reasonabley helpful. She knows the materail and is a good professor.
I've taken her twice now, for MAT 102 and 116. I loved how she did her notes; they are very organized. Not the easiest teacher, but you do actually learn and she is very helpful. There are extra credit points if you need them.
Unfortunately the quarter I took her she was out for about half the quarter due to health issues. She is very thorough in class, covering all the material well. Answers any questions you have, and will spend time after class making sure you understand the material. Lot's of homework, but you can use the homework on her pop quizes every day.
Runaway as fast as you can if you want to learn.
Ive been talking her class online, and she has been out for health issues. I can't get help in a timely manner because of it. She should have taken medical leave, as Im sure she is taking a ton of students down with her. But I do hope she starts feeling better soon.
She made the class tedious, and entirely more trouble than it was worth. For someone that is pretty decent in math, I dropped the class after 1 week. Ridiculous.
Mrs. Stroh is actually one of the best teachers i have ever had! She was very knowledgeable, and very helpful in helping me understand the math, as well as why we do it. I def would recommend her to anyone. She makes math fun and has a great sense of humor too! Dont let the first day scare you. :)
Marie is a blessing! She is a very pleasant high-quality professional. I learned a lot of basic math that will serve me throughout everyday applications as well as in my future nursing career. There is a lot of homework, but that's how you learn, right?
First year back teaching 200 series MATH and it shows in quality. Grades very hard and expects a Calculus student to show basic algebra or get points off. Then when you see her key SHE doesn't show the algebra. Holds students to the rules but she don't have to follow them. Good person and after a few quarters will be back as Calc prof but not yet.
Ok first off DO NOT take her online class. She offers no help , her tests have a completely different format than the homework that we have to do every week. She is honestly the worst professor that I have every had.
Had her for Allied Health Math, which is very simple math. My grade on webassign was a 98% but was receiving F's on the tests. This made no sense to me. I showed my work & knew the answers. I emailed her several times with concern as to how she was grading exams & factoring overall grade. Her reply "do better on the tests"! Grading didn't add up.
Main reason I dropped her class was bc of the tests. They were 10 questions, worth 100 points. Halfway through the semester, half had dropped the class. She was so picky in grading. There were multiple times that students had corrected her work. She only did multiple examples on one type of problem but on the hw was a different problem we never saw
Unfortunately I will be taking this course again next semester. I ended up dropping the class due to her tough tests. Each test was worth 100 points and only ten questions. While our homework took hours to do each week the points did nothing to my grade though I did great on it. My grade stayed down. Be warned.
I ended up having to drop the class because of her terrible tests. On the homework I would get good grades but I would fail her tests because they were so hard. When she would lecture if you asked a question she would get frustrated. She was the worst professor I have ever had
Do NOT take an on-line course with this professor. I took Allied Health Math and it was the worst. She kept blaming stuff on "department policy". Way too much homework, she doesn't prepare you for exams and throws new stuff on the exams. This is the most basic math class -- super easy stuff yet the course is set up so students can't succeed.
Every time you asked her a question, she made you feel like an idiot. Her teaching wasn't the greatest. She made everything hard and not easy to understand. Although, she is friendly, I wouldn't take her again as a professor. She is also the hardest grader ever. She will take points off for the dumbest things.
Professor Stroh was, unfortunately, the worst professor I have ever had. She offered very little to no review for her incredibly difficult tests, did not respond to emails, and made you feel stupid if you didn't understand and asked questions. SO MUCH HOMEWORK. Had to drop the class because I knew my grade couldn't recover after the first test..
She is nice, but she has her moments of having an attitude. If you ask a question she seems to not want to answer it because it's not on her pre-planned notes. There is a lot of homework, on MyMathLab and written. Her homework and tests are completely different than her notes. She doesn't grade consistently. She's also a tough grader.
I ended up dropping the class because of her tests. I undertood everything she taught. I would have no problem with the practice tests Sinclair made, but then I'd get to her tests and end up with a F. She's literally ridiculous just help yourself and don't take her.
She is an extremely tough grader and can be indecisive on grading.
Stroh was not a great professor. We had so many sections and topics covered with a ton of notes. She never provided a review for the test or explained what would be on it. She entered one grade the whole entire semester and when asked for a current grade she never got back to you. The first test average was around a 65.
As a person Stroh is great. You can easily tell she has a passion for Math. However, there's no time to listen to what she is saying bc I'm too busy writing. I don't know why I bother, bc the notes do nothing to help me on the HW, let alone the tests. I got more help from Google than her. Will be dropping this class and taking from a diff teacher.
Mrs Stroh was a good teacher but the class was very difficult. If you are super good at math this class will not be hard and if you aren't too good at math you can still pass. The homework is graded for accuracy and the tests are 10-20 questions each worth a bunch of points so missing a few can tank your grade. She is a nice but the class is tough.
The professor is very nice, but the material isn't explained very well and tests are impossible to pass. The professor hates it when people ask questions. Instead of learning something I walked away very confused. I wouldn't recommend this professor.
Took online. She is not great at communication, and does the bare minimum to reply if you have questions. Straight forward, you could work at your own pace. 25 questions of HW and a quiz due Wednesdays and Saturdays plus 4 or 5 activities to do throughout the semester. 4 tests and are worth almost ALL the points for class, so do well on those.
She's a great person but her tests were terrible. The first test more than half of the class failed and she didn't curve it at all. She does drop one test sometimes, but even then it wasn't worth it if you failed more than one test. Never trust her previous tests because they are always harder than you expect. Save your GPA and don't take her.
Very nice, but her test were very hard! There was no study guide or idea of what it would be like! None of the lecture notes helped with homework or the test! She also would not inform us if she was not going To be there! I had to drop this class because I did not want it to affect my GPA.
She is so boring! Not to mention if you don't keep up w/ the online assignments you will fail. Lectures were just awful. She's nice as a person but she can't teach. I really wish I would have dropped this class
Do NOT take this class w her. We are more than half way through the semester and only have 3 grades of the 30+ assignments we've done. Every single student is frustrated. She is kind, but she is unreasonable. Tests are hard and she is a very tough grader. Expect to spend 5+ hours on the exam. The text book is a waste of money, do NOT purchase it.
In this class, you'll take three tests, however, they'll be almost 75% of your grade. Additionally, on questions, partial credit isn't given. It's all or none. She's pretty bad in her lectures and when grading tests will often overlook why an answer may be possible compared to her key. Would not take again.
tried emailing her about my grades several times and she never answered me. she only graded some of my test bc she couldnt see the rest but when i met with her, she could see then and said she was going to grade it but never did. dont take her class. she doesnt do anything. it was online all she had to do was grade and still didnt.
If you want to feel like an idiot take this class. She belittles you and makes you feel as if you have no place in life. She is an awful grader with no real reasoning behind the grading, almost as if she is feeling bad that day you get a bad grade. Our entire class is failing and she does not seem to care one bit. I believe she enjoys it.
If willing to take pre calculus with Stroh, you must take it alone without any other course beside cuz you need a whole semester to finish her homework and tests and you can barley do it !!!
Slow to grade and give feedback. TONS of homework. She is a very tough grader but does not give feedback on why things are incorrect.
