she will help you out if you need anything. You dont really use the book that much only for the online quizzes. She makes it fun and to the point. You speak in a public speaking class; not much of the book work or paper stuff that other teachers try to give you.

GREAT TEACHER!! shes funny, you play a fun game at the beginning of class to get you going. test are easy, as long as you try to speak shes fairly nice on grades. IF YOU BUY THE BOOK DONT WRITE IN THE CHAPTER OUTLINE PACKET!! THEY WONT BUY THE BOOK OR PACKET BACK! very fun class.

I LOVED this class! All the quizzes and assignments were online and the quizzes are based on the textbook. As long as you deliever the speeches, you'll get an A. I got 100% on all the speeches! She's an awesome, fun teacher that I highly reccomend!

I figured Public Speaking was going to suck and be really difficult, but Professor Torres totally changed my outlook. She does many exercises to truly help make you a better speaker. She also plays a game on each speech day to help loosen the class up which is pretty cool. Disappointed in how little we used the textbook when claimed we needed it.

VERY EASY! TAKE HER! If you have the main things needed in your speech you will get 100% on your speechs. I finished with a 99% in her class!

Best teacher EVER! My first time in college, I'm taking 4 classes & this is my FAVORITE class! We're halfway through the semester, we've had ONE common sense test, we've gave 3 speeches & only have to give 2 more. Now I HATE public speaking, still do, but it's a fun class! Don't buy the textbook. Any other teacher is rude. Team Mrs. Torres!

Professor Torres is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Some of the assignments were tough for me but she helped me through it. I highly recommend taking her class!

You don't need the textbook and a very good and easy class. I got an A on every speech I gave, but a B on my final exam speech and she gave me a B for the entire semester. I tried emailing her asking her if it was right, and she never emailed me back.

She is a great teacher. Took this class online and it was fairly easy. Do the assignments and make sure you turn them in when they are due and you should get an A. Recommend this teacher greatly.

This teacher was an excellent instructor. Treat her with respect and she returns that. No problems with returning emails if you keep it short,sweet,and to the point. Her class helped me get over my speech anxiety. Her rubric for speech scoring is shared from the beginning. If you follow it you'll do well. Don't over plan your speeches.

Ms. Torres is very kind and helpful. She does have some standards like not missing speech days and not walking in in the middle of someones' speech but if you follow those and practice your speeches it is a simple class. She is understanding that everybody there is nervous. She doesn't make you record speeches. Would definitely reccomend!

She's amazing. Really fun and understanding to talk too. Every public speaking class is difficult, but she'll break you out of your shell in such a beautiful way. Throughout, it becomes less difficult to stand in front of the class and speak. If you want to take a less scary speech class, choose Ms. Torres. I guarantee you wont regret it.

She is a wonderful teacher, she knows that we get stressed and plays a game before her speeches. she does have an accent if you have a hard time with that. but she is so sweet and fun. i was dreading this class but now its my favorite class of the semester. she understands real life and that mistakes happen and helps out. don't miss speech days.

Strong professor who grades fast and wants you to succeed. Do the work and you'll get an A. She's a very fair grader and is there to answer any questions and gives very clear criteria and feedback. Would take her again in a heart beat.

I took SPC 1608 online. I was so sure I'd do poorly in the class. Professor Torres was so encouraging and inspiring; truly helped my confidence. She answered my emails promptly, helping me with whatever problem I was having. She's an excellent instructor, who wants you to do well. Whatever your problem, communicate it to her and she'll help you.

She is very understanding as long as the students are open and communicate with her. Only 2 test. About 6 speeches (one of them being a final). Don't buy the book! It's not needed at all! Be always on time! Her grading is fair. you do your part,she'll do her part. I passed her class with an A.

Loved her class. As a student returning to school after almost 10 years, I was worried about taking classes again. Especially one where I had to write and give speeches. She takes her time to make it fun and not feel like work.

Took this class as a hybrid so class was one day a week and the other half was online. The online work was pretty simple. Watch the videos and take the quizzes. The online assignments are a big pert of the grade. Speeches were given in class. She grades easily and tells you what you need to work on. Its important to show up to class on time.

I am a dual-enrollment student and took this class online because I already had public speaking experience and needed the credit. There are quite a bit of assignments per week (2 quizzes, discussions, and writing assignments), but they are fairly easy. She's clear about grading criteria and responds to messages quickly. Overall a good teacher!

I took this credit as a hybrid class every other Tuesday, and it was incredibly easy. She shows you exactly how to organize your speeches, and what she's looking for. She grades your speeches the day of, so having immediate feedback allows you to ask questions in person. If you can't handle a class like hers, then you might as well drop out now.

She is really sweet and makes you laugh. Definitely taught me a lot about public speaking. She had that mom vibe towards everyone. Her accent made the lectures enjoyable. in the end she was way harsher on grades and gave lower grades than we all expected, but overall id definitely take her again. great great teacher.

I loved this class. You only have three speeches and weekly writing assignment which are not hard at all. She gives great feedback on your assignments and gives you info on how to write outlines. I recommend her out of all the public speaking teachers at HCC.

She's a very nice lady and helps a lot. She is not that harsh when it comes to the speeches.

My class was a hybrid class of online and in school. She is funny and laid back and is very good at explaining and giving examples. She understands that public speaking can make people nervous and is a fair grader, but not an easy grade. She grades based on you, not everyone else. The grade you get is the grade you deserve.

I took her in the fall, so it has been a while. Keep in mind, this is online. Do what she says and you will get the grade. I honestly had no problems with the speeches, I took inspiration from other papers, and it worked fine. You do have to buy a program for this class, and that is most of the work. She is one of the better teachers to take online

I took this class online (6 week summer) , there are only 3 speeches total .And mini writing assignment's nothing difficult. And quizzes from the book which is online. For the speech online you need no more than 4 people to sit and listen which isn't bad because you aren't in class. There are outlines that should be turned in as well.

I was nervous about taking this class but it was not as bad as I thought. This class is super easy all you do is complete a outline of your speech then create your speech off that. There's only 3 speech's, if you feel nervous about taking this class don't.

My favorite class Ive ever taken at HCC. I really enjoyed it and she was hilarious. It was an easy A as long as you did the work. We did like 5 speeches but you dont need to write them. One midterm that was easy. She is very understanding. We didnt do any quizzes or use the book cause it was new so i dont know if other classes will. TAKE HER!

Marie Torres I took this class online. 1-3 discussions per week, 2-4 quizzes per week, and she assigned about four speeches during the whole course. She graded the speeches pretty generously and let me slide with 4 adult audience members when 6 was the minimum. It finished with an A. (TEXTBOOK NEEDED IF TAKING ONLINE!)

This class has a lot of work but not difficult work. 2-3 Chapters w/ quizzes each week. Quizzes are open book but they can trip you up on a few questions. 2-3 classroom discussions and written assignments a week. 4 speeches worth 50% of your grade. Her grading seemed pretty chill and she always responded to my emails. Do the assignments get an A.

she is an amazing professor! i took her speech class as a hybrid. a fair amount of work is done at home. she is an easy grader on presentations as long as you put effort into preparation

I took this class as a hybrid, and there were a LOT of at-home assignments and quizzes to take. Every other week, between weeks of completing assignments, we'd have to give a speech. She picked enjoyable topics and everyone who put in the work did well. She's good at giving constructive criticism to help you improve on your next speech(es). 9.5/10

While public speaking in itself can be nerve wracking, I found this to be an enjoyable experience. Prof Torres set clear expectations and graded fairly. If you follow the syllabus and put forth the appropriate effort you will earn an A.

Best professor to take for this course if you just want to do what you must for the credit and leave. Super straightforward with what's expected, pretty simple assignments. She's understanding of how uncomfortable people get with public speaking so she doesn't grade too hard. Just do your formal outlines real nice and speak loudly you'll be fine

This was a fun and easy class. It was straightforward and easy to understand. Professor Torres had good communication, and would reply to any questions promptly.

This class has a lot of assignments but only 3 speeches. The speeches are graded somewhat harshly, but other than that Professor Torres is very nice and she gives excellent feedback. It's important to read the textbook which is $50. This class is a large workload but you will know Public Speaking by the end!

Online, you have to record yourself and submit a draft of your speech. Pretty easy, except there was a requirement that at least 5 people be in the frame of a video.The book was informative and still helps me today. Good class, but finding audience members can be hard. However, some other classes require more or less people.
