Profesora Sarria is an actual gem. She is so sweet and really wants to see all her students succeed. She is always willing to work with you. There is a lot of reading and homework outside of class and it does take some time to get the work done but she can transform any non-spanish speaker into a proficient speaker in literally one semester.
Professor Sarria is a great professor and is always available to help with homework outside of class time and genuinely cares about her students. She takes time to explain the topics to her students and make sure the entire class understands them. She is also very understanding if you need extra help or need to miss class for an important reason.
The best Spanish teacher at QU!! Professor Sarria is patient, genuine and fun. She makes the most of her class and is very understanding. She is always available outside of class and is willing to go an extra mile in order for her students to understand what's going on. You have to be willing to put in the work though and meet her halfway. 11/10
Sarria is THE BEST professor I ever had at QU. She is engaging and always available for questions and help. I highly recommend her.
She is seriously so sweet and very funny. She cares about her students and I definitely learned a lot. Really my only critique is that she doesn't speak English much in class so sometimes directions get confusing and I don't get the assignments right but that's not her fault. Take her class if you're willing to do the work to learn.
look, sarria is nice and very sweet and i like her as a person, but i CANNOT stand her class. maybe its a me problem, but her syllabus is so confusing and her instructions in class about classwork and hw are incredibly unclear. she often kept us late in class just because she wouldnt stop talking. very sweet woman but i dont vibe with her
She is honestly the worst teacher ever. She hates any kid who is not a Spanish first speaker and has constantly graded things wrong on my tests that were actually right. Not to mention she hates when you get sick. NEVER TAKE HER!!!!!
She has no clue what she is doing. She also does not like if you are not 100% fluent in Spanish. It is extremely frustrating. Also asked us who we voted for and if we like Trump. She really has no idea how to teach
Despite my very good grade in her class she is by far the most frustrating teacher ever. I took 4 years of high school spanish, yet she constantly tells me my work is bad yet she gives me very good grades. She often relies on her own judgements of the class. She also speeds through the work and expects you to be ready for a huge test every 2 weeks
Love Profesora Sarria! Best professor I have ever had at Quinnipiac University. She is sweet, caring and an incredible professor who genuinely cares about her students and doing well. This class made me enjoy spanish, she explained topics well and made sure everyone knew what they were doing before moving on to another topic. My favorite class!
She is just not a good teacher and never understands kids being sick or having to miss class for being sick. She constantly told me that I should just know it. She was just always not in touch with anyone in the class and tried forcing all us girls in the class to tell her gossip rather than teaching us for the exam next class....
Professor Sarria is a smart, caring, fair and excellent professor, she cares for her students. With her you will learn a lot, you have to study if you want to pass the exams, but if you pay attention to what she says you will not have problems. AMAZING PROFESSOR.
Professor Sarria has an excellent mastery of online technology. I have taken several online courses, and she had the best command of how to conduct online class that I have encountered. She was always available for help. This course helped me improve speaking Spanish and I was able to learn many things. My favorite Professor SEÑORA SARRIA
Sarria was awesome! SP 511was a pretty good course, there were many materials available to those who wanted to learn. Great use of technology, there were lots of varied activities. She also made sure to respond constructively to student's concerns online and this woman will go out of her way for you, she is always available for help.
She is great! Very encouraging, very enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and helpful. Professor Sarria clearly enjoys the subject matter and wants every student to succeed. EXCELLENT course for medical professionals that know Spanish!
The professor exhibited a true commitment and dedication to the class. She always made herself available for any questions and provided additional time for students to cover a topic the students needed extra help, including providing additional resources for practice. Her passion for teaching Spanish was aways evident. LOVE SARRIA!!!
Profesora Sarria genuinely only wants the best for her students. She will take the time and go over material until we get it right because she truly wants us to succeed. She is an Excellent professor. Thank you for a wonderful semester Señora!.
She is great! Very encouraging, very enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and helpful. My professor did an outstanding job at being available and approachable with an asynchronous format. I enjoyed this class and how enthusiastic and helpful professor Sarria was about this course.
Very passionate and enthusiastic Professor. Sarria is Super knowledgeable.Great professor, always available and super helpful. Overall, an amazing Professor. She always expressed the same amount of care and excitement for her students.
I love Sarria. I can speak some Spanish and mainly took this course hoping to add a Spanish minor, but she was a great professor. I think that sometimes she was a bit hard to understand and follow, but if you show you care, she will care about you. Most kids in my class were rude to her, and all they did was complain. She was still so sweet.
She never ever makes herself available outside of class. Constantly I would email her to makeup a test or to finish up a test and she would just not respond. She also gave us a ton of work to do but didn't bother grading it till the last week. She is also not a great teacher if you don't know Spanish. If you can avoid her do it!
She is probably the worst professor I have ever had. She was not good with extra help for anyone and never responds to emails. She was always talking down towards other students and also taught us certain things wrong. If you can not take her I would suggest it because she sucks
She is just not a good teacher and never understands kids being sick or having to miss class for being sick. She always tried to gossip with us and also made a kid in our class cry because he didn't understand what he was doing and asked for help
When I asked her for help once she made me cry in front of the entire class. She never gave me any extra help and was always making excuses for why she couldn't explain things more. She also moved through material way too fast and I have never learned spanish before so it was awful for me. She is the worst teacher ever
She is an ok professor, She is nice and tries to be understanding but it comes off as she doesn't care. We got her half way through the semester so I can understand some things but she just was not the best with teaching and confused many students in the class who previously understood most of the material. Her class is not the easiest so beware.
She is a sweetheart but also tends to call students out inappropriately. She even made a kid in our class cry for not understanding material. She gets very defensive, even asking the students for constructive criticism and not listening to the responses she gets. She also posted tons of homework late with it due the next day. She just wasn't great
Professor Sarria can be very unclear at times and assigns hours of homework almost every night. If you are unfamiliar with spanish don't take this class because she will not teach the course material. She also mistakes material confusion with laziness or being unwilling to learn. Would not recommend taking this professor's class at all. She was bad
She does care about her students however, it often is not communicated well. Often in class she would call out students kind of inappropriately. She also never graded some of our assignments for the final grade that we spent a ton of time on. She does seem nice but comes across not the best in situations. Also all assignments were not interactive
I honestly love Professor Sarria. She is a little difficult to understand sometimes, but she tries her hardest. I think people are being very harsh with her. She will love you if you make yourself available and show that you care about the class. Just be sure to study before tests and quizzes.
One of the more interesting professor I have ever had. She does seem to care a lot about her students but also will not teach the best. Great person but not a great teacher. We had to switch professors half way through the semester and for her half I felt as if I learned a lot less. She also goes through things too quickly and is confusing
She was very unorganized the entire semester and not very understanding when people would ask her questions in class. She was rarely ever accessible outside of class and she's very passive aggressive when you do have questions. Overall, she IS a sweetheart, but sometimes comes off very rude.
I took SP 101 (course second part) and she was by far the best professor I have ever had. She is so kind and helpful, and teaches this material in the easiest way possible. She acknowledges when you do well on an exam. Not only is he a great professor and knows a lot, she is also a great person. Would 100% recommend!!
I absolutely love this Professor ! She is amazing, she teaches almost everything on the whiteboard and explains everything with very simple examples. I recommend her for your classes because she can really make things much easier and better, this class is very helpful. If you want to learn something, take her class.
Sarria is the best professor I have ever had at QU. She genuinely cares for her students, and tries her best to make sure all of her students succeed. You do need to put in the effort, but if you do, you will have a great time. Very sweet professor, and I loved her class!!!!
She is the best language teacher I have encountered in my 5 years of Spanish classes. She is a devoted professor, the job was made for her!. Great class, difficult but enjoyable, she made class very fun, and always made sure everyone understood! Senora Sarria was amazing.
My favorite Professor at Quinnipiac University, she is very passionate, enthusiastic, cheerful and cares a lot about her students. Sarria is AMAZING professor.!
She is a nice person but a horrible teacher. Very disorganized and hard to understand in class, calling students out inappropriately. Also let us know about exams 1 day before it was going to happen, and would randomly spring quizzes and homework on us. Never followed the syllabus and made students feel stupid for not understanding stuff.
do not take
She is so nice and understanding. Really funny. I would definitely take her if you can!
Prof. Sarria is the best Spanish professor I've had at QU. She makes you feel very comfortable in class and does not make you feel bad for making mistakes (she actually embraces them as a learning opportunity). Attendance and participation are required, but she will work with you. She is very kind and creates a very positive welcoming environment.
Professor Sarria made me love the class with her amazing personality and her positive energy. There are a lot of assignments on MindTap but easy to complete. Everything is very simple, and she is always willing to help.
She is one of the most caring and knowledgeable professors I've had at Quinnipiac. Her Spanish 102 class is welcoming, fun, and inspiring. She truly cares about each of her students, and I'm learning so much in this class. I highly recommend taking a class with Sarria if you can!
There is just so much work she gives you and she really is not the nicest. Often gives back handed compliments and trouble with technology. She also hands out a test every 2-3 weeks and a quiz every 1-2 weeks. It was rough to do
She is a sweetheart one-on-one but tends to call students out inappropriately. She gets very defensive, even asking the students for constructive criticism and not listening to the responses she gets. Not very organized with telling you if we have class, or what assignments are due when. Expected us to work in groups for a project with minimal time
I swore I wasn't going to take her again, but then did. She's unorganized, difficult to contact & has a ridiculous amount of busy work weekly. I've never had a teacher try to move an assignment due date up or not be willing to accept an assignment the next day (obviously for decreased credit). She seems like a nice person, but not a great teacher.
So much work and constantly is not communicating with students. She also has tried to get involved with teenage gossip even though she is much older. Such a weird situation
She calls students out inappropriately and is just not a good teacher at all. She tries to be understanding and nice but then does everything that she says she is not. Just constantly giving pop quizzes and moving on before kids understand a single thing. AVOID HER CLASS IF YOU CAN
She is a sweetheart but also tends to call students out inappropriately. She even made a kid in our class cry for not understanding material. She gets very defensive, even asking the students for constructive criticism and not listening to the responses she gets. She also posted tons of homework late with it due the next day. She just wasn't great
Amazing professor, absolutely loved her!!! I truly do not understand the bad reviews, she clearly cares about her students, and will make an effort to help you if you want to learn. The people that get frustrated do not care to learn and simply want to breeze through without doing anything. I can guarantee if you take her class you won't regret it!
I truly do not understand her good reviews. They are nothing like how she is in the classroom. She is always calling students out, never can take criticism despite asking for it. Assigns homework the day it is due and often never tells us and its a lot of work to complete by midnight. She never responds if you email her too. She is just not good
The most disorganized teacher ever. She also gives out a test every 2 weeks and a quiz every 1-2 weeks. It is just so much work for an introductory course and she has no sympathy if you are struggling. If you are not someone who can understand something right away do not take her, otherwise you will be spending 20+ hours on her course every week.
This course is considered an introductory course but man she makes this feel like a upper level spanish course. There is a ton of work every single week and she does not teach very well. The amount of work in this class left me not much time to complete work for my other classes. She is not a good teacher at all, steer clear if you can
She was very unorganized the entire semester and not very understanding when people would ask her questions in class. She was rarely ever accessible outside of class and she's very passive aggressive when you do have questions. She is just not a good teacher
This class was really frustrating. The lectures felt disorganized and hard to follow, and it seemed like the professor expected us to understand material that was never clearly explained. Office hours weren't very helpful—questions were often brushed off or met with vague responses. Grading was tough and felt inconsistent
I swore I wasn't going to take her again, but then did. She's unorganized, difficult to contact & has a ridiculous amount of busy work weekly. I've never had a teacher try to move an assignment due date up or not be willing to accept an assignment the next day (obviously for decreased credit)
She is legitimately the best professor I have ever had at Quinnipiac. Taking Spanish with her made me actually enjoy learning, and she never made me feel bad for messing up. I wish I could continue to take more classes with her. This course took a lot of effort, but she really wants everyone to do well. I love her!
took this course bc I am premed, and I wasn't sure it'd be easy, I last took spanish in high school, but it was amazing. I thought the projects were tough, but I learned a lot. The course is well structured, so as long as you manage your time and follow the syllabus, it's not bad. Professor is mostly hands off but makes time to meet with students
Great professor, tells you clearly what she expects from you, and made the course easy + enjoyable. Content is hard, but not surprising, you have to learn medical terms in a whole new language. Very responsive when emailed, I am taking the second part of the course right now and cannot recommend her enough
love her!!!!
Went out of her way to make sure I got the help I needed when struggling in her class, I cannot say enough positive things about her. She is so so sweet!
Extremely passionate about what she does, and helping her students learn!
I love this professor and can't wait to take more classes with her. She's the best!
She is an amazing professor, and really cares about us as students/future health professionals. This class is so valuable and rewarding. PROVIDES EXCELLENT MATERIAL FOR STUDY. Take her class!
I love her teaching style. In a subject as difficult as Spanish, she's definitely the ideal teacher. She explains grammatical structures thoroughly and asks questions that make you think about the material. She connects everything with easy-to-understand examples so you better understand the concepts. I love it!
She is an amazing professor and always brings a lot of energy to each class and has adorable personality. The MindTap assignments she assigns are also manageable; they're a lot, but if you're up to it, you can learn a lot from her, and she's always willing to help you. I'm glad to be her student. She's very kind. Take her!
Best Spanish professor I ever had!. Grammar structure is a tough subject, but she made understanding limits surprisingly simple by explaining everything with her own examples on the whiteboard. I highly recommend her!
Honestly, one of the best professors. Super kind, caring, and really dedicated to making learning the class interactive. Professor Sarria's class is a lot of homework, but the lectures are engaging, and the extra credit makes it easy to get a good grade. Her classes are enjoyable, and I've learned so much, so grateful to have her as my professor
She is simply amazing. If you want to learn, truly learn, go to her class. Best Spanish professor I have ever had.
Sarria's teaching style is marked by passion, energy, and a genuine commitment to her students' success. Her dynamic lectures create an engaging learning environment where students feel motivated and inspired to excel. Professor Sarria's unwavering support and encouragement foster a sense of confidence and empowerment among her students.
Professor Sarria's dedication to students' academic and personal growth is evident in every aspect of her teaching, making her a highly respected and admired educator. TAKE HER!
Professor Sarria has all homework that we need to have done easily accessible through the syllabus ands textbook and always answers emails if we have any questions. There is a lot of class materia and homework (mindtap) but everything was organized well and was perfectly time.
Very kind professor, super sweet definitely would recommend for anyone wanting to take spanish. Professor Sarria's engaging teaching style captivates students' attention, fostering active participation.
Look at the bad reviews before taking her BECAUSE THEY ARE TRUE!!! She is a sweet teacher and will extend an olive branch if you participate and show you care, but as a professor, she was hard to reach via email and often blamed the students for her poor communication and organization. I had more work due for this class than my bio class!!!
If Profesora Sarria was not the teacher, I don't think I would have continued with SP 102. The information is great, but she makes the class special. She has been highly energetic and enthusiastic about the class and was always available to support her students.
Love love Sarria, I loved the book, all modules with a lot of information, it was super useful. I liked doing the interactive activities and the scenarios so I got a sense of what situations in real-life would be like. It was great so I could gain confidence and speak better in Spanish. TAKE HER CLASS!
Very helpful and friendly, one of the best professors I've had.
Professor Sarria is AMAZING. Very professional and really organized. She provided us with a lot of material and everything well organized. She always had time and interesting to meet with her students as a class and individually as well. The assignments that she created for us were extremely helpful to apply what we were studying from the class.
It's clear that someone doesn't like Sarria... but she is undoubtedly an AMAZING professor!.
I Professor Sarria is knowledgeable in terms of the subject matter. I found this class very easy to understand and very interesting, and considering the fact that this class is asynch, I think Professor Sarria has created a perfect curriculum. There are a lot of resources provided which makes it very easy to understand the learning material.
Love this professor. If you are looking to have a great time and learn, take Prof. Sarria! She's caring and is a good communicator. The professor made the material very accessible, which made learning much more interesting. I enjoy her class so much I am leaving a review halfway through to encourage students to take her!
Honestly the worst professor I have ever had. I just can't even learn when she borderline makes fun of students who fail at something. I wish I stayed with my other professor from last semeser
Look at the bad reviews before taking her BECAUSE THEY ARE TRUE!!! She is a sweet teacher and will extend an olive branch if you participate and show you care, but as a professor, she was hard to reach via email and often blamed the students for her poor communication and organization
I honestly wonder if she has students write good reviews for her because she is an awful teacher. She has zero clue how to teach but is very nice. The problem is that I am here to learn, not make a friend and talk gossip with my professor. I had to teach myself everything and in class she would criticize us if we messed up. Avoid if her if you can!
This class was pretty hard to keep up with. The lectures didn't feel very organized, so it was tough to understand what was going on. Sometimes it felt like we were supposed to know things that hadn't been explained well. Going to office hours didn't help much either. The grading was kind of all over the place.
This class was super confusing—lectures were all over the place, and stuff wasn't explained well. Office hours didn't help much, and grading felt random. What really sucked was the professor making fun of people who didn't do well. It just made everything more stressful than it had to be.
Felt lost most of the time—lectures were messy, and it was hard to know what we were supposed to learn. Office hours weren't helpful, and the grading didn't make sense. Kinda sucked when the prof joked about people failing. Not a great vibe overall.
The class was tough to follow. Lectures lacked structure, and expectations weren't clear. Office hours didn't offer much help, and grading was inconsistent. It didn't help that the professor made comments about students who struggled. That really hurt morale.
This class was rough. Nothing felt clear, and we were expected to just “get it.” Office hours didn't fix much, grading felt random, and getting laughed at for failing? Seriously? That's not how you support students trying to learn.
Lectures made no sense, grading was all over, and office hours weren't helpful. Plus, the prof making jokes about people doing badly? Not cool. Whole thing felt discouraging.
Loved being confused 90% of the time, graded on stuff we never went over, and getting roasted for not magically knowing it all. Office hours? More like vague hour. 10/10 would stress again.
Lectures didn't really make sense, and it felt like we were supposed to know things we were never taught. Office hours weren't much help either. The grading felt random, and getting made fun of for messing up was super discouraging.
This class didn't feel very supportive. Lectures were confusing, and it was hard to get real help during office hours. It was frustrating to be graded harshly without clear expectations. I am NEVER taking her again
It's wild how I came to class, took notes, went to office hours—and still had no clue what was happening. Grading felt like a gamble, I was always lost and she did nothing to help me. Put 25 hours a week into this class and got nothing from it. Goes to show how awful she is, even my other professors were shocked at her teaching
I really wanted to do well in this class, but it felt like we weren't given the tools to succeed. The lectures were hard to follow, and office hours didn't clear things up. I think students would benefit from more clarity and respect.
The class didn't work for me. Lectures were confusing, help was hard to get, and the grading didn't make sense. What really threw me off was getting mocked when I was already struggling. That's not how teaching should go. The department head was also zero help in this situation
I used to love spanish and thought about making it my minor. after having this professor tho I will never take a spanish class ever again. She ruined my love for spanish and discouraged me at every turn because I didn't want to gossip with her. She is very unprofessional
Listen to the bad reviews, the good reviews are just the students who think she is the best making good reviews over and over again. It is pretty wild behavior for a professor who can't teach
She just can't teach. Lectures are a mess, nothing gets explained clearly, and even office hours feel like a waste. You're on your own in this class. The jokes about students failing don't help either—just makes it worse.
It's clear she knows the material, but teaching it is a different story. Explanations are confusing, and students are left guessing. Office hours didn't clarify much, and I never understood what I was doing
She's not a good teacher. The class was confusing from day one, and there was zero structure. Asking for help didn't go far either.
This class was frustrating. She clearly knows her stuff, but she just can't explain it in a way that makes sense. Help was hard to get. With better communication, it could be a whole different class.
Felt like we were supposed to teach ourselves. She might know the subject, but actually teaching it? Nope. Office hours were just more confusion, she never responded to my emails about anything as well
She has made me hate the one subject I have always loved. Also never responded to emails and has poor communication skills
Amazing prof. Bad reviews are from a spammer. I promise you, you won't regret taking this class with her
10/10 professor. I don't understand the spam of bad reviews.
Spanish is not my forte but I learned a lot and it was easy to ask her for help.
I got an A in this class because of my 4 years of high school spanish. She was an awful teacher who didn't teach, never responded to emails ever, and sprung surprise quizzes on us. She also is often mean in her comments but tries to come across as nice. I would not recommend taking her if you need assistance in class, it never helped anyone.
Honestly, she is nice however her teaching is subpar. Her class is difficult for an introductory elementary spanish class. She never responded to emails in a timely manner and often made fun of students in my class. I would not recommend her if you struggle with learning on your own. She is great if you know spanish because you can ignore her.
She cares about her students but does not teach the best and often never responds to her emails. For me her class was easy as I have a huge background in spanish and it is my minor. However, if I had not known spanish so well her class would have been so frustrating and I would have lost my mind. She just can't teach but is so sweet
She was my favorite professor I've ever had. Cares about students learning and understanding topics. Always able to answer my questions and even got back to my emails on weekends.
Course content was rough, but it taught me a lot. She always made class interesting and tried to engage with every student. She makes class enjoyable and lively
I enjoyed this course. It was a struggle for me since I have never been great with Spanish but Sarria made it fun! Take her if you have the change
I'm a nurse and took the medical spanish course sequence with her. Course was mostly independent, but the times I met with her she was SO NICE and caring. She was amazing to learn from and I loved the experience
Very enthusiastic about teaching. I had a good time and if you put in the effort, you'll learn a lot.
Professor Sarria was amazing! I'd take her all over again. She is so kind and very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. She really cares and is willing to answer any question you have. Professor Sarria was by far my favorite teacher yet. She understands Spanish is a hard class and you can tell she wants you to succeed.
I absolutely love Professor Sarria! She is incredibly smart, passionate about Spanish Language, and one of the best professors I've had. Her lectures are engaging, exams fair, and she truly cares about students. The slides are clear and helpful, the expectations are always clear and the Medical Spanish material is easy to follow and enjoyable.
Since this class was asynchronous a lot of the learning was independent and self paced based off of the textbook. She is a nice lady and is clearly passionate about what she teachers.
Sarria is genuinely my favorite professor at Quinnipiac. I absolutely love her energy. He is fun and passionate about the topic which helps keep students engaged. I really recommend take this class. She is the best Spanish professor ever.
She is an amazing professor and she's so sweet. I loved going to her lectures every week because the personal anecdotes she would tell were so interesting and are very entertaining and she is very interactive. She gives very detailed lectures and will thoroughly answer any questions. She always encourages participation in class.
