lectures BORING! can read the chapter faster than the time she spends lecturing on them. Effective than most other teachers in that she has 12 quizzes and no exams, so it breaks it down easier. grad assistant veronica not too nice
Most unorganized instructor yet. Im in my third year and she was always 5-10 minutes late; not to mention she had to look at the syllabus when she walked in to find out what she was lecturing on. Very unorganized and boring...

very boring and a waste of time and money. just stay out of class until exam day. buy the book and read the chapter. the quizzes are easy. i havent shown upo except for exam day and i have an A-.

Very easy class if you attend regularly. She grades on brief quizzes every 1-2 weeks and a final. There are quite a few extra credit opportunities and those who score enough points between the extra credit and the quizzes are exempt from the final. Lecture isn't very interesting but attendence is key- her quiz questions are mostly from class.
I had this professor back when I was at EMU. Psychology was my minor and she taught a couple of my classes. She was alright...nothing outstanding, but not the worst. She was a little unorganized, but was fairly interesting.
I'm a psych major and almost wanted to change my major because of how turned off this class made me from the subject. she just has a horrible teaching style that makes you never want to be in her class. she's also completely unorganized. i feel like she knows the subject, but she can't communicate the information well.
Just AWFUL teacher- I realized after several classes that her lectures made me understand the material LESS. Id understand, then she'd explain it and I no longer understood. Goes off on tangins-which is an irritating waste of time. I got a B+ after realizing: just read, go and take the test and leave.
She was not helpful or very nice. Thought it was funny to ridicule students in front of the class. After our weekly quizzes, several students took longer than others she said, "Let's move all you slow-pokes to another room." Not flexible at all. You can pass this class easily as long as you study.
She is psycho. she's very rude and disrespectful. She does not like helping students. I wanted to hang myself while i was in her class. DO NOT TAKE HER AS A PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!
Seriously, where are the student evaluations??? Choose another teacher if you can. The book was more interesting than she was. Her teaching style, knowledge and helpfulness made me want to puke in my mouth.
Worse professor I've ever had in my life. She was boring to listen to, and she didn't make class interesting at all. If you read and go over the outlines you should pass the class with atleast a B. I wouldn't reccomend her to anyone.
Not an interesting class to be in. Boring. She didn't help me learn anything. I got a A from studying on my own. Considered beating my head against my desk to end the misery. Not very helpful at all.

this class makes me want to chunder, i hate this class. she is always late, sometimes up to 15 mins late then wants to keep you late, after class should be over. her quizes are worth 10 points and most people get about a 4. that is all she grades on, so be prepared to read the whole book if you want to do well.

I hate her period! Her test are hard becuase she trys to trick u, u may know the answer, but the way she words the stuff is crazy! If u want to actually pass ypur psy. class pick another prof.

although she is incomprehensible while teaching, she isnt so bad. this is my 1st college class in years and i think that i might be passing. she tells you exactly what is on the test if you just pay attn and she breaks up the exam into bite size parts which are easier to comprehend. become one w/ the book though b/c she speaks p.h.d.!
She is great. i totally love her class. Im not sure how she teaches Fall and Winter, but if you get a chance take her during the spring or summer, 9 quizzes and you drop one, and then you have your final, plus you get extra credit.
I loved her! she is awesome! she is very articulate and tells you exactly what is on the test. this was my first class in 9 years and she totally went easy on me. if you need an A ust pay attention and study for the quizzes. she breaks up the exams into small quizzes and tells you everything that will be on them. you have to be a pretty poor studen
Seriously, I did fine in her class, it isn't hard! A 101 gen-ed full of freshman is hard to teacher, especially when most the classes she teaches are upper level courses. If you participate, she loves you, and you'll do fine. Believe me, in a class of 85, I think I was one of 3 people to regularly answer questions in class and I got an A.
very rude, smells like ciagarette smoke, late for class, hard work but you learn allot. i would not tell anyone to take her to class!
don't bother buying the book. if you come to class and take notes, you will ace all of the quizzes and not have to take the final. Very boring though, wastes a lot of time going over stupid true/false questions
She was not a good teacher! Don't take her if you don't have to. It was fairly easy because you had 14 quizzes and the lowest was dropped, but seriously.... How is she still teaching at EMU? Horrible.
Very nice lady and easy class. Her lectures come straight out of powerpoints which are posted for you online. No exams, just plenty of quizzes(1 after each chapter) which are like 6 questions long and u get 2 drop 1. theres 1 easy project. Shes also an easy grader. U might get bored sometimes in class, but its a pretty easy clas overall, Take her!

I think her lectures are pretty interesting. You don't really take tests, only quizzes so it's easy. Only bad thing I can say is she's late a lot.
Shes not too bad. The quizzes are fairly easy and those plus the lab make up your grade. You don't have to stay for the lecture just come every week for the quiz and leave. Everything on the quiz is in the power points.
One of the BEST teachers at EMU. I don't know how she's gotten any bad ratings. She is very helpful and cares about her students. If you are confused and ask questions, she is more than willing to try to clarify it for you. I would definitely take her again, given the chance!
Very unorganized, quizzes are not relevant to important concepts of the chapter, you don't use the book, tardy almost every day, goes off on tangents, overall, I would not recommend this teacher to anyone!
This has got to be the worst teacher. I had class once a week and there is a quiz every week, 8 multiple choice, two points for essay. These quizzes are from the readings per chapter (might I add the chapters are minimum 40 pages) and the essay is something as minute as ever in her lectures. By far the worst teacher ever.

Quite possibly the WORST teacher I've ever had. Often times, notes don't match the material on the quizzes. Extra credit is only 3 points and she often throws off the class with her rambling and boring lectures. Notes come from slides. About 100 slides per chapter that you have to copy!
A lot of reviews have called this teacher rude or mean, but I think this is a big exaggeration. She is 5-10 minutes late to class about half the time, so if that's something that bothers you I'd skip this professor, but otherwise not a hard class, just show up and study the powerpoint notes which the quizzes are based on.
Very knowledgeable!! As long as you went to class and studied the notes she gave you then there was no problem whatsoever getting an A.
She is a good teacher. She is very willing to offer help for those who aren't doing well. If you fail her class you just aren't trying. You have to attend class, because there is a quiz almost everyday. 14 total the lowest being dropped. Also one easy project. I would recommend her.

She is constantly late, never answers emails, her slides don't correspond with the book, when reading her slides it seems like she's learning it for the first time, she skips things on the slides when she can't make sense of it. Study the slides and go for the quizzes. Don't waste your time going to class. I've had 19y/o kids teach better than her
This professor is terrible, doesn't even know her own class schedule or quizzes. Went to EVERY class, studied hours per week. Teacher doesn't know what she is talking about, answers every question with "no", 5 minutes later "Yeah, I guess." stay away from this professor, she doesn't know how to teach, only talks condescending to you.
Hated the class, dislike the teacher. She often comes off as rude. I'm sure she knows the material, but she doesn't know how to teach it. I don't recommend her. Avoid if possible.
The worst teacher I've had in my 18 years of life. She doesn't know what her lesson plan is; her quizzes are not relevant to the lessons; and she cannot teach in a manner where everyone understands. She did a whole class on the wrong lesson and didnt realize it till the end. I highly recommend to stay away.
She is a nice professor, that's how they should be. The material is very easy if you would just study the slides and show up to class because she gives stuff in lectures that are not on the book and shows up on the quizzes. The only thing I don't like about her is being 5 minutes late. Other than that, she's great. Easy A
She is very unorganized and she knows it, but her class was a breeze. Show up, read your slides, and be able to pass a fill in the blank quiz once a week! The end project was very simple. Never bothered to buy the book and still received an A. Offers extra credit if the whole class is struggling with a concept.
Here's all you need to know: Are you going to learn a ton of stuff about Psych? No. Are you going to get an easy A and boost your GPA as long as you study at least 1-3 hours a week? Absolutely yes. And that's the only thing that really matters, how easy it is to get a good grade. She is not the best professor, but she also is not the worst. Done.
HORRIBLE! She's not good at explaining the material, and only reads the sentences off the slide show. Your grade is based of 9 tests that consists of 10 questions. The tests almost never follow what you've learned so you're grade drops pretty fast. Don't plan on asking her questions because her automated response is "well I'm not really sure"
She is a terrible teacher. Could it be an easy A? YES! But you would have to study at least 3 hours for every quiz. You have 10 quizzes in this class. The 3 part project is super easy. She is just a awful teacher. Doesn't care about anything. If you don't understand something...too bad! You cannot miss class. She will downgrade you for it.

Her quizzes are worded funny so hard to understand. Just don't take this prof if you can help it. It is an awful class. Worst I have had at Eastern and I am a senior.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR FOR ANY CLASS, EVER! She is disorganized & chaotic. Lectures from JUST the Ppts (which is the SAME info as the textbook), is late for class EVERY day (5-15mins), and OPENLY BICKERED and refused an assignment from a student in class, then allowed another student to turn the same assignment in (with the same circumstance)!!
I highly suggest you take this class with another more organized professor. I had to force myself to keep this class because I paid for it. She talks to much.She also takes forever to post your grades online. Only good thing about her class is that the grade curve is so big. A 75% is a B! probably because she is sick of everyone failing her class!
Seriously about the easiest class I have ever taken. She doesn't care if you show up for class but demands you do the online learning curves. Highly disorganized, and late for class. I would only take her if you need to up your GPA.
I really enjoyed this class. She did quizzes rather than exams. You didn't need the book, just the information from the powerpoints which are posted online. The final project was easy, which she had clear guidelines for. Some complained about quizzes being difficult, but we're in college. Study your notes and you'll pass.
She is a terrible professor. She would have no idea what she was even teaching if it wasn't for the power points. Quizzes and tests are online, which is great but she made the entire class call Pearson to get a reference number just to get credit for a 12 point quiz that EVERYONE could not get to load. She also said "um" 230+ times in one lecture.

She's not as bad as others are saying. The 3 part project is SUPER easy! Her quizzes are worded strangely, but just look at the powerpoints before the quizzes and you'll probably do fine. Show up to class for the group case studies and you get +3 points to the quiz that week. You don't need the book. Class is an easy A, even though it's boring.
I took this class in the spring. Her grading can get a little wonky but she is willing to change your grade if you think you deserve something different. She encourages you to read the chapters but mostly works off the .ppt's. Her projects are easy to complete if you're invested in the work, but you may need to ask for clarity. She's very kind.

Most boring lecture I ever sat through. Took forever for her to start class even when she was on time. All homework and tests are online and you can take everything as many times as you want, so extremely easy. I got exempt from the final and ended with over a 100 percent. The most annoying thing in two words. NAME TAGS! She never did learn my name
She used pearson which had problems every five seconds. She is very disorganized and not interesting. This class would just be a GPA booster for most but even that is not worth it. The lecture does not coincide with the online tests or anything. I was totally looking forward to this class and I was very disappointed.
She's very vague in lectures, lecture slides don't have information that is on the quizzes. Quizzes were online and she gave answers and unlimited amount of time and tries to do it. She doesn't grade fast at all or give papers back. She often messes up the gradebook so you have to check constantly and email her about her mistakes.
Online quizzes. Lectures are boring . The textbook helps when you take the quizzes but they only help a little. It's helpful to print out each power point for the lectures for side notes. The 3 major assignments are repetitive. If you see a mistake in your grades make sure you go to her office hours.

Worst professor I've ever had! There was no need to come to class, all quizzes are online and she posts the answers to them. She is disorganized and unprofessional, I will never take her again and would recommend that she quit her job because she doesn't know how to teach. Very easy class, however you do have to show up to do in class activities. That said, terrible professor. She is disorganized and spends most of class talking about her divorce and some student's medical history. I can't believe she is still a teacher here because she is so rude and unprofessional. She also has her assistant grade all assignments.
One of the worst profs i have ever taken. Lectures are terrible and slow paced. Barely covers any amount of information in one class. The book for the class is one of the worst, if not the worst, i have ever read. Quizzes every week that are all fill in the blank, only the answers are impossible to find in book or PPT slides. terrible experience.
I see people complaining on here about her saying she is the worst prof at EMU, her grading sucks, etc. I have not had a single one of the problems. She has been by far one of the best I have ever had and would take her again. She can be late to class sometimes but she covers a lot of information and really makes sure all of her students know it.
All work is done online except for the two in-class activities per section. If you show up on those 2 days, you'll breeze through. Her lectures are just you listening to her read the power point then leave.
She was a good professor but I honestly learned nothing. All assignments/quizzes were online and super easy just time consuming. If you get 78/80 or higher you don't have to take the final. You literally could skip every class and still get 100%. She gives extra credit for doing in class assignments.
A++ The people rating this professor as bad are WRONG. This was one of the EASIEST classes I have ever taken. JUST show up to class and take the weekly online quizes. The quizes are very simple and are UNLIMITED in attempts. Sometimes when you retake it the answers will be given to the incorrect ones so just write them down retake it and get an A.
This is the easiest class I have taken. It is all online, except you have to do at least one in class activity. The second activity is bonus. There is so much extra credit in the class and most people are exempt from the final exam. The actual lecture is super boring. There are no papers and only online quizzes that are 7 questions.
She is super easy professor! Just a few open quizzes online and 4 assignments to turn in. She does not reply to emails but everything is easy to understand. Show up for class because of the group activities, but I would take again.
She was not always prepared for class. She does not get back to you when you email her, even if it is important (like a final grade). Lectures are boring and long. She lets people in the back use laptops but yells at anyone in the front if they are using them. She constantly gives the wrong grades and changes them last minute.
Sure, the lectures weren't always thrilling, but she makes it impossible to fail. She also makes it possible to get 100 percent on the final based on participation/attendance. The text book was online and interactive. If you don't do well or even have to take the final in this class, it's your fault, not the teachers.
This was a pretty mediocre class. The lectures were a bit dry, and Dr. Bonem reiterated the main points of the textbook (the textbook is good though). This semester, she also started using an app called Tophat, that tracks attendance and quizzes questions throughout the lecture (this was annoying since she did not really knowing how it worked).
This semester was different for her. She used something called TopHat and she had trouble working it was could be annoying. She wants you to purchase a $90 book which isnt bad if you plan to major in the class.
I would avoid taking her if you can. Her lectures are so dry and slow paced I almost always fell asleep during them. She takes so long to put grades in that you really have no idea how you are doing in the class until the end of the semester. Did not look forward to going to class at all :/
She decided to use something called Globalyceum for our class. All of our homework assignments and unit quizzes were online, and if you missed less than 10 points you didn't have to take the final. Her class was a blow off class, I felt like I didn't learn anything. If you just show up to the lectures and keep up with the online homework, you pass.
Lectures were long and dry. A software called 'Globalyceum' was used as a textbook, as well as for homework and exams. Everything was very easy.

Bonem is chronically late, and her lectures might put you to sleep, but she knows what she's talking about and cares about students' understanding. Easy to get a good grade. Do the project, complete online quizzes (unlimited attempts btw), and participate in your case study group. Don't bother to buy the main text book, just the case studies one.
The class is very easy. Save your money and don't buy the book, it won't be helpful. All the powerpoints are provided on canvas and you get unlimited attempts on all the quizzes. Lectures can get a bit boring but if you're looking for an easy class, this is the one to take.

Dr. Bonem is a great professor, she is easy to approach and understanding. Psy 203 is an easy course. We had an online quiz and assignment every week. Our class ended before finals week and we had an option to take the final quiz in class depending on your attendance and in-class assignments. The lectures were interesting and easy to follow.
Never responds to emails.. Lecture heavy, however, class isn't mandatory. Just do the online work and you'll pass.
Would you like to learn about Psychology the way it was taught in the 80s? Then this is the professor for you! Prof. Bonem has not updated her assignments, textbooks, teaching style, or powerpoints since your parents were in school. So if you'd like to learn NOTHING about MODERN psychology and its uses, I would 100% advise taking Prof. Bonem.
Boring. Had to purchase a educational program that does all the work for her! Could have taken it online. Went to 3 classes in total because it was so boring, and Im a Psych Major! Avoid.
If I could giver her a ZERO I would. Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had during my entire college career. Her quizzes are absolutely ridiculous and she has you redo assignments that weren't explained correctly to begin with. I would not recommend that anyone take any of her classes unless you want endless frustration.

She is unorganized and unskilled when it comes to online courses. I've missed 2 of her zoom classes because she either forgot to tell us about it or scheduled it for the wrong time. She also uses a lot of class time trying to figure out how to use technology. It's frustrating but I don't blame her. She is understanding and her class is an easy A.
this professor is retiring soon, so this probably won't matter. But this is the worst professor I have ever had. Very rude and sarcastic. Counts attendance for points and wants everyone to use word and excel (everyone doesn't have access). Lectures are boring and doesn't care about students. Had to put video on zoom and put into break out rooms.
