WORST TEACHER EVER. First time I took her class she failed me after aceing the final and doing all the work. The second time she withdrew me after missing 7 days. I am sorry I quess having a sister die dosent count as excused.

this is the worst teacher i have ever had in my entire life. the fact that she shows up to her class 5 to 10 minutes late every day proves that she has no respect for herself or her class. very bias and i learned close to nothing in the class. it took her about 2 months to grade our first essays which gave us no chance to drop.

She gives horrible instructions and keeps repeating them over and over even though they don't make sense. there's no teaching involved, all she does is assign and discuss readings. it's composition...not reading comprehension. also she's biased towards people whose first language isn't english. yeah maybe they need more help but not babying.

This professor teaches with a very impersonal manner. Her grading scale is a number of checks, and if your more than a few moments late (no check for you.) She refuses to give students a review of what their grades currently look like. Contacting her is difficult. And she is unwilling to work with students who run into emergencies.

This professor gives overwhelming work that she does not grade your work at all, jsut put checks on them. Her essay grading scale is difficult. She discuss about none related school topic, which focus mostly on her life. Doesn't care about your understanding of the course. WILL LOWER YOUR GPA. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!

She is very monotone, she has no joy when teaching. Class is boring, she doesn't bring any joy to it. Never explains anything when you ask for help. Everyday we have to turn something in for her. She only puts check marks. Its ridiculous. I dislike her class the most & I have always love english but now Im having second thoughts about it!

I thought she was pretty cool when i first met her even though she did not show up the first day of class. Then i have not learned one thing, i feel like this class is useless. really useless. She just skim reads our papers and makes check marks. Always talks down to us as a class, like we are nothing. I need a better teacher.

She only puts check marks on the essays and does not even bother to read the essays. She grades the essay on grammatical errors and grades tough. Her lectures are super boring and you will not learn anything in fact you will realize this is not a 1301 class. Attendance is mandatory otherwise you will be dropped. Hard to get an A on her class.

All we do is watch movies and write papers over them, she does not even read the criteria, she just checks your grammar and heading. Very unoganized and whenever you have a question, she does not andswer it. Instead she tells you to look at her syllabus. Worst professor yet.

Such an AWFUL professor!! I took her for Summer/13 and regretted SO MUCH! It was hard to fight the feeling of running away! She doesn't explain a thing and now that I'm taking ENGL 1302 (another prof.) she seems even worse than before! Wait a semester if you have to, but don't take her! I passed with an A, but everything I learned I already knew!!

This is possibly the WORST class I have ever taken. I dread this woman's class. We never know what our grades are, all she does is put check marks and whispers!!!!

Do not take this teacher if you have the option! She wants you to do these journals and summaries a certain way and i honestly say that she found something wrong with EACH and EVERY one of papers! She doesn't really explain what she wants so you as a student have to figure it out! DONT MISS ANY CLASSES she will not email you on what Journal is due

She is extremely unclearspecific as to what she is looking for, and half the time we are teaching are ourselves vs actually receiving instruction. She told us half way through the semester that their have been online assignments and that no one has done them, and still said it was our fault and not her own (THE WHOLE CLASS DIDNT KNOW).

Honestly, this lady has been the worst teacher I have ever had. She does not explain anything and tells us to look at the vague syllabus. She is not helpful, and is extremely rude to students that ask question. I am pretty sure she calls people out in class as well. And nothing is her fault ever even though she fails to keep the class up to date.

She doesn't explain what she wants, she expects the students to know everything beforehand, doesn't answer questions, doesn't give grades back, and she answers with irrelevant questions. She speaks very slowly and can't even be heard. From 30 students, only 5 have stayed to finish the course.

A lot of people drop her class. She's a tough grader and makes you do a whole lot of work and will give you poor grades. She does favoritism amongst the students as well

Worst class I've ever taken. She was rude and was never clear on her assigments or the way she graded things, and if a question was asked she would make you look stupid in front of the entire class. I've gotten A's in English my entire life, but for some reason got D minuses on every single paper I turned in to her. Be smart, and don't take her.

I'm a straight A student, and I usually don't judge a teacher too harshly. For the first time in my student career, I dropped a class because of the professor. I attended the first day of class, and the professor I signed up for got switched with this one. She left an incredibly bad impression (rude, boring, high-handed). I went home and dropped.

I've been a straight A English student all my life, until now. She is awful in so many ways imaginable! She doesn't answer our questions! Doesn't read our essays! Doesn't allow a single student to get an A! Don't even bother enrolling! "SAVE" your money!

Marylin Douglas-Jones is by far THE worst English Instructor known to MANKIND! Nevertheless, the English department should be ashamed of themselves for not taking action. She is litterally DESTROYING people's lives! It's sad that students pay there hard working money to take her class, yet students would drop her class or fail based on her actions.

Comes up with lesson plan for that day in class. Not graded when hw is due, only checked off for having it in on time. All papers graded at the end of the semester. Instructions are not always clear and she changes them frequently. Look forward to wasting lots of paper since she makes you revise and reprint everything.

Easily one of the worst Professors I have had. She has no real structure to her course leaving people confused for the first 3 or 4 weeks. Gives almost no feedback on the journals and other homework she assigns. Will not acknowledge any emails from students I've sent 3 myself and she always claimed she never received them Pushes her political views

The way she could improve will be more coherent instructions, and more examples of what she seeks from our papers, templates of complex and compound sentences her feedback is weak to the point of being null more action in class would be appreciated! And if she likes the "do and learn" strategy she should consider non-graded practice.

Unfortunely because I'm an independent adult this is the only engl 1301 offered that will fit my schedule . Its only the second week of class and I wanna cry. She gives unclear instructions with very little individual feedback, I'm scared of what my final grade will be ! ��

If you wanna take her class think again she is literally failing everyone in the class we had a class of 30 it drop to only 7 people no likes this class. Theres only one person with a decent grade of 70 if you want to save your college GPA and money dont take this class. Her directions will leave you clueless and lost the whole time you take her.

Ive never written a review for a professor but I feel obligated to tell you how bad her class is. This class will break your spirit. She is vague in her teaching (if you can call it teaching) and a hard grader. She has the volume of a mouse. She is quite frankly a bad professor. Do not take this class.

You could do a minor error and she will deduct many points of your paper. Class consisted of just talking over the assignments & providing with minimal & vague advice. I lasted 3 weeks w/her until I dropped her for the sake of my gpa. I worked extremely hard and many of the students did too, but she always found something wrong on everyone's paper

Feedback for Essay 2 was given days after class ended. With COVID issues she never gave feedback, direction, or responded to emails and then awards bad grades. So basically she did not honor her part and we all suffered.

I'm taking this class in the middle of a pandemic. She had told us AT the beginning of the class that she will take it easy on us because we're working from home. Now, she literally just grading our first assignment from TWO months ago and gave us nonsense comments. I don't know if I'm going to pass this class now. Save your money.

It's taken 2 months for her to finally grade an assignment and per usual she gives extremely vague feedback. The feedback she gives is basically "pay better attention." She grades harshly even after telling the class she would be more lenient in the beginning. She also won't let you into class if you're more than a few minutes late.

I took her when the pandemic first hit in March. Before the pandemic she was still a terrible professor. She had high expectations for all paper but her feedback was extremely vague. She mostly said pay attention or go over MLA again. When we went online she disappeared for 3 weeks. 2 days before the term ended is when I finally got my grades.

I didn't know about rate my professor that's why I choose her, but trust me it is almost impossible to pass the class she never grade your assignment until she wants, when I started the course I made many assignments on September but she graded until October, and she didn't give a good feedback ( Most of my classmates withdraw the class).

Worst Professor Ive ever had. She doesnt grade Im at the end of my semester and all shes graded is ONE paper so I have no idea if I need to retake the class. Ive never had any issues with professors or teachers not liking my writing but she seems to have many issues. Shes impossible to please.

If you get a terrible grade from the get go, withdraw! There is no point, it'll only get worse. She does not reply to any emails/messages about assignments and when she does she can be very rude.
