Took Web course. She is not very helpful. Her homework expectations are lame, and boring, and you need a scanner if you want to turn in your homework via email.
Excellent, brilliant teacher! Don't take this class unless you're up for a challenge. She is a strong teacher, however she rarely has any students that fail. A+++
The bad puns in the slideshow are a little annoying, so be warned. Overall, a great teacher and a nice lady. Even if you do badly, you get lots of chances for extra credit.

Took her online class. She should not be teaching a online class. Everything was unorganized, she is a very slow grader The course was half way over before she posted grades. THIS WOMAN IS ON A POWER TRIP!!! I did recieve a B after seeking help from other sources.
The worst teahcer I have ever had. SHe is not a teacher, but just a data entry person. She makes tons of stupid rules and enjoys taking points away when you do not follow them perfectly. She is also rude...beware!

She is more interested in the rules than she is in teaching. She did not finish grading the majority of assignments until the end of the quarter so I had no clue how I was doing until I received my grade card. The e-mail correspondence I had with her was very rude and disrespectful. She is smart, but being smart does not make a good teacher.
A memorization class, is easy to get a hold of by email. Does admit to not being the most punctual grader, best way to get a hold of her is by email. She is upfront about other classes at other schools. You will need to study outside of class as she covers a lot of material in a short span. Do not take this if you are not up for a challange.
The only thing she ever talks about is not the material in class but how many letters she has behind her name! Very cocky
This is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. I have learned absolutely nothing in this class and I feel like it was a waste of my time. She used up the whole 2 hrs. and 20 min. alotted time, and never even taught the material. Also, I think she is a bit **** in her views. I have an A in my other 2 classes, but am getting a C in pop culture?
Teaches a lot of material along with the text, which gives way to lengthy and somewhat difficult exams. Answers questions when needed, but can seem impatient at times with her students. Gives plenty of extra credit however. This is not a class for those just semi-interested in politics; if you want an easy grade, go for another field of study.
Her tests are very difficult because they come from the book publisher so you will definitely have to spend alot of time reading the text. Lectures are very interesting and she offers enough extra credit during class to help make up for the tests-although the some of the extra credit is only available if you go to class.
This was the first class that I opted to take online, and BOY What a mistake!!! It was a horrible experience! Avoid her at all costs!
She is rude, and always makes the tests hard and harder. if u are taking pols sci with this teacher be prepared for rudeness. she comes to class late everyday. she cancelled our class 4 times during the quarter. she is bad in grading and doesnt respond e-mail. she doesnt answers question she looks students as if they were not supposed to be there.

Ms. Howard was a difficult teacher. I poorly on her tests, but she is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She likes to include personal testimony from her life as a black woman, which isn't always talked about in history classes. She has a great sense of humor and likes to develop a repore with students, but has little tolerance for slackers.
Dr. Howard's class is easy in the sense that it requires only memorization of facts. The tricky pary is staying on top of what you turn in. Make sure you say EVERYTING. Dr. Howard is disorganized and can misplace work. You need to keep track of things yourself. She can be rude. She does not always respond to emails.

Dr. Howard is an excellent Prof. She was strict, but that is what college is about. As long as you work hard in her class, you will do well. I had her for two classes in one quarter and I did well in both. Actually, she assisted me in having very good study habits, and also, I enjoyed her personality.
Dr. Howard posts all your grade for your assignments on Blackboard, so i was checking my grades one day and noticed she didnt record one of my essay grades, so i told and she said she would take care of it. She didn't, and so i failed that class. She is very disorganized! Make sure you get all your papers back and make sure you keep them!
Very Strict but a really good teacher U really do learn alot from her Just read the material bc her exams are really hard but she gives extra credit BRING a dictionary to class extra credit Dont forget to staple your papers before you get to class dont be surprise if u fail the 1st and 2nd exam i did but still passed with a C bc of extra credit
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE COURSE. TERRIBLE. I ENDED UP FAILING HER CLASS B/C SHE WAS NO HELP--WITH ANYTHING. IT WAS MY FIRST ONLINE CLASS AND SHE WAS HORRIBLE AT CLARIFYING DIRECTIONS AND DUE DATES. After being a bit sarcastic back and forth in e-mails with each other, she now ignores me completely, ignores important questions needed to be answered, and grades me based on our rough start with each other, and treats me unfairly.
VERY intelligent , good teaching skills, thought provoker, you feel left out sometimes when you give the wrong answer. THE PROBLEM unfair grading system with a very limited amount of chances or points. As far as learning something shes good, but if you want to pass please go somewhere else

Hardest PoliSci instructor ever,BUT the purpose is to weed out people who are no good at politics.Gov George Wallace Univ begged her to be their president because she is BRILLIANT. The best/hardest proffessor i've ever had.
She is the Worst/hardest SSCI 102 teacher ever, but she does that to weed out all the people not good at social sciences... to bad its manditory for almost all majors and for that reason she should not be expecting anyone to be good, and nor should she get a presidential recomendation... who hasnt see the movie Forest Gump for heaven's sake?
Any moron would have taken a job as the president of a University, and not stayed at CSCC, therefore that draws the conclusion that either A: she has NO common sense, or B: she was full of it and not really offered a job! Really Dr. Howard? Really?

This woman IS RIDICULOUS. She is NOT capable of teaching, or helping out a student with learning something. You don't have to be good a Politics to be in her class to know she's impossible to work with. She will never give you the time of day. And...if she was BEGGED to be a president of some education whatever, then why did she not take it?

Difficult grader, overtly harsh in writing style, test questions comprise of all right answers, but one is more right than the rest. Normally a judgement call in her favor of what is right. But she is knowledgable and approachable, if not entirally there in a ditzy way. If you are a hard worker then a B or C is not out of the question. Forget A's.
She showed up consistantly 15 min to class late. I barely sneaked by with a C, thank goodness I was able to teach my self the material because she was NO help what so ever! Do not take her class, and if you do, be prepared to teach yourself (which I thought was what I was paying her for, but who knows!)
I'm a paralegal and am taking this class to transfer. If you can avoid Dr. Howard, do it... if you have to choose between castration and political science, I'd say -- pray you didn't want babies.
She would walk in 15-20 min late everyday, now if that isnt disrespectful, consider her attitude towards her students, usually if I wanted somthing clarified, I would ask her and get the "customary" response of "its in your book, why dont you understand?" Finally I think I lost 15 very precious IQ points while enduring her painful powerpoints,
Dr. Howard does not use the textbook in any of the assignments, but expects you to know the material on her multiple choice tests. The assignments she does give are unbelievably difficult. There is entirely too much information to digest for this to be one class. If you can avoid Howard, do it.
Wow, what can i say, completely worthless teacher. She has a huge chip on her shoulder and tries very hard to be strict for the sake of being strict. This is the first teacher I have had a major issue with at this school. Dr. Howard really needs to re-evaluate the importance of a strong student-teacher relationship in her classes.
Avoid. I took her twice for different classes, nice lady but a bad teacher. She needs to be a writer and stay out of the classroom. Very late to class until we kept complaining to her boss, ignores your point of view, arrogant, very disorganized all the time. This goes on for 10 more pages do you need any more convincing.

had her for afric. amer studies. class was interesting. i used enough paper printing off her powerpoints to kill a forest. a lot of information is provided. she does like to mention that she has a ph.d a lot and that she is busy.
She quit teaching anything after the first test. You'll need to actually READ everything in every chapter to pass! VERY STRICT! No chance for extra credit and be ready to hear about her PhD EVERY class!!
I really hope that she actually looks at and uses this feedback on this site. Truthfully and awful teacher but for my experience a good genuine person. She has alot of knowledge (she'll be the first to tell you that) but no teaching skills. Avoid if possible and if you read these comments Mrs. Howard, change yourself b/c you suck at teaching.
"Dr. Howard" Wants you to know she is a "DR." This can be reather distracting when your trying to learn. She is very informative but at times it seems like she is more worried about showing off her knowledge than actually teaching. We had quizzes every other day so read your book cover to cover and you should be ok.
She is on a high horse and all she talks about is her PHD, she was never on time for class! I would NOT recommend her to any student. She is petty on her grading and all she talks about is her mother. She seems miserable and from the way she talks she has no man, kids or social life other than her mother. Thought class would be interesting but NOT!
Pros: Knowledgeable, attends class daily, highly educated, holds office hours. Cons: disorganized, late every day, disrespectful to students/peers, rude emails, unclear lectures/slides, slow grading, teaching an inconvenience, self-righteous (PhD lectures daily), unclear grading scale, no belief in hard work for success.
Worst professor I've ever had!She is very rude and condescending. You WILL fall asleep in class & she WILL penalize your grade for it. Dr. Howard is alright, and kind of funny, but she doesn't play that mess when it comes to being late, your cell phone ringing or you sleeping. Yes she talks about having her PHD but so! JUST GO TO OFFICE HOURS AND TALK TO HER AND SHE'LL HELP YOU GET WHAT YOU'RE MISSING, AND STUDY N YOU'LL BE GOOD! I GOT uh B, and she dinged me 3x for my Cell phone!
I have never had such a ridiculous work load. I work and go to school and I was spending more time on this one course than my other 4 combined.
I will not sugar coat this Dr. Howard is a tough cookie! She expects her students to do the reading, show up on time, and be respectful (meaning don't use your phone in class or fall asleep). However, she is very knowledgeable and wants her students to do well. If you are looking for an easy grade this is not the class to take.
Tough class but a very nice lady if you get to know her. She makes sure you aren't distracted! Put in the work and effort and you should be okay.

I learned a lot. This is a tough class though. She is strict. Use the study guide and comb the textbook for understanding. Come to class, be methodical, ask questions, bring your dictionary and visit her in office hours.
This class is extremely hard. She doesn't make learning fun, her tests are hard, and she expects you to produce phD level work even though you're attending a community college. I enjoyed her class at first, but things drastically went downhill. I would only take her class if you're looking for a challenge. A very difficult and degrading challenge.
Try this class if you want a torpedo through your GPA's gut. Lectures about topics not in textbook. Which would be fine but neither lecture nor textbook material is what shows up on the tests. Creates intricate rules and waits for you to break them so she can take points. More concerned with rules and trapping you into losing points than teaching.
At first the class was questionable. the primary source doc test are hard, but the last 3 weeks of school she gave us a bunch of in class work to raise the grade. The final she even gave us a full review packet and all you had to do was study it because every question on the review was on the final. All you have to do is be nice and study.
She is the worst teacher ever her study guides for the two exams we took were vague she expects u to know what she knows and that devil has a phd. If u ask her a question be prepared to feel dumb when she answers. Hard work doesn't pay off in her class She thinks low of her students the way she teaches this course is beyond college level

The online assignments seem easy, but she grades insanely tough. Study guides are too vague, exams are impossible to prepare for. She's very strict and rude. Good luck.
Dr. Howard teaches to make herself feel powerful and important. She is extremely condescending, and rude. She teaches what she wants to, but what she teaches is not on the tests. Speaking of tests, there are only two, but that's not a good thing. The tests are weighted. I have 130140 points right now, but my percent grade is only an 82%. Good Luck
The test she gives are about nothing she talks about in class. Make sure you have free time to read because every page of that book she expect you to read and YOU ARE TESTED on it. She also adds on blackboard different documents per chapter to read that you're also tested on. She does not give extra credit and she changes her class calendar alot.
Make sure you read all the chapters, as they are everything that is on the tests. She won't teach you anything that will be on the tests, or really anything that you will need to know in the class. Her classes are movies and power points that do not assist in getting a good grade. bottom line, avoid her at all costs.
Dr. Howard is no joke. Her tests covered all of the material, even the stuff she didn't go over in class. If it was in the book or posted to blackboard, it showed up on the tests. Fair warning. Her in-class persona is very abrasive but one on one she was surprisingly friendly and helpful. Read everything twice and visit her during office hours
Dr. Howard is by far the best professor that I have had throughout my short college career. She is very knowledgeable, and knows her stuff.
Do yourself a favor and never take her classes for any subject. She belittles all of her students and is not open to other view points, only her own because of her PhD that you will never hear the end of. Save yourself and GPA and don't take her classes.
Way to strict on her assignments, will literally take off a bunch of points because you didn't follow 1 of her 100 directions. Lectures are pointless, you won't learn or do anything. If you don't read the book, you won't pass. We only had maybe 15 assignments all semester so you do bad on 1 thing, your grade changes drastically. Avoid at all costs.
Take ur time on the hw, u only get a few on throughout the semester and she grades them tough. Be sure to keep up with the reading b/c she doesn't cover everything in class. Take good notes especially when she defines things. Show up to class b/c she assigns hw in class . Bring a dictionary to class u will get extra credit.
Dr. Howard is an incredibly qualified professor She makes her expectations VERY clear, which is why I find it so hard to understand that people are blaming her for their poor performance. I did well in her class simply by trying, reading the book carefully & following her instructions. Just READ THE BOOK for tests & take time on her assignments.

VERY TOUGH CLASS! Howard talks very low and covers nothing on the POP QUIZZES & TESTS. She didn't even give us a study guide for the midterm nor final. I highly recommend not to take this class unless you absolutely have too.
Dr. Howard's an okay person, but her grades are ridiculous. She's strict, but sometimes it feels like she's looking for reasons not to grade. You don't follow even one direction of hers and she'll refuse to grade your work. She only leaves condescending comments on HW, even if you pass the exams she'll find a reason to fail you. Don't bother.

If you want a teacher who actually cares about her class, go to Dr. H. She provides TONS of material, every class she recommends books, authors, articles, and documentaries on whatever subject we're hitting. Blackboard is stuffed with additional material to cover if your struggling. Woman is an unending plethora of resources, She Knows Her Stuff.
Although I did not pass Dr. Howard's course, she is still one of the best professors I've ever had. Her knowledge of the material and the passion she puts into teaching is admirable. If your looking for an easy way out, don't schedule this class. But if your looking for someone to challenge your thinking and hold you accountable, shes perfect.
I honestly think 90% of these 5-star reviews are straight up FAKE. This is the worst professor I have EVER had. I dont know if she has a chip on her shoulder or not but it crosses over in her poor communication skills, useless power-points slides, non-descriptive study guides for her TWO exams, and her predatory distain for student peers. 0/5.
Dr. Howard does not update the grade book often. Nor does she make the test have anything to do with what goes on in class. She was often 15 minutes late to class.. every class, and sometimes not even showed up with no notice. Power points and movies shown have nothing to do with exams. I do not recommend
Don't take this class. She doesn't make anything clear and will not reply to your emails. Lectures are useless and what is talked about in class doesn't even match the quizzes. You basically teach yourself in this class. She grades really picky and will give condescending feedback on assignments. I regret not checking here before I chose this class
Professor Howard can be very sarcastic and rude at times but she is a great instructor. She is very picky and likes for her students to follow directions. She doesn't like to repeat herself and can be condescending at times. I guess that's because she has a PHd. The subject matter is very interesting but the lectures are very boring and pointless.
