She puts effort into marking out a paper, but grades fairly. This is good, because you find out where improvement is needed without losing marks. Profs don't get much better than this.

Dr. Kane is the ideal teacher. She is friendly, humerous, informative, challenging and very approachable. She has a passion for her job that many teachers lack. I would highly recommend her classes in particular phil 101.

Best prof I've ever had. Class was interesting (even when it could have been dreadfully boring) and she made good jokes and brought up cool articles and ideas. She grades fairly and takes time to mark your papers and show you where you could improve.

A very enjoyable teacher. I angled to get into another of her philosophy classes the next semester because I enjoyed her course so much. She respects everyone's opinion on things (very important in a phil prof) and provides everything you'll need to do well in her class (forget the textbook!).

Great prof, very easy to look at!! Course is enjoyable, easy to get a high grade in the course. Midterms are a breeze, and easy reading quizzes (real basic) give freebie percentage points (10!). I recommend Marilyn absolutely, I'd take another course with her in a moment.

I'm no philosopher, but Marilyn made this class really fun. She's very clear and relates EVERYTHING to things that are relevant to everyone. Brains as well as beauty (a rarity these days). Great personality, fun classes. Doesn't feel like traditional "learning" - You just kind of "get it" in her class without a lot of effort. Everything you could want in a teacher (and everything you could want in a woman, for that matter). Take this class with her. Try not to drool - It looks bad.

a really fun class!! she related class issues to personal issues that everyone was able to clearly understand. discussions were informative & fun & the subjects were really interesting. she is an amazing prof...she's not only passionate about her field, but she makes you gain passion for it too. i definitely recommend her!!

Kinda looks like Kate Moss, but thats not important. All u need to care about is that she is easy, helpful, friendly and enthusiastic. If u want to pull ur GPA up significantly, take courses taught by her. I did alright in this course and had a lot of fun with her~

Best instructor I've ever had at Douglas and it has nothing to do with her looks. It seems like no one can rate her without talking about how hot she is. The bottom line is if you want an instructor who will make the material easy to understand and make the class enjoyable, take her class.

She is super humorous and nice. She explains the stuffs clear and brief, and gives good examples too. She always talks about her dogs and cats and makes the boring course funny. A fair maker, too. I like her!

Took this class because I had to, was expecting the worse. Kane is quite knowledgable and generally speaking, an okay professor. Way to easy, really. GPA booster in a big way. HOWEVER, wont admit when ses wrong. clearly lost an argument with a student, then had a hissy fit. nice lady, overall.

I have taken 3 classes with her, 1101, 1102, 1152. She is my all time favorite teacher. Great teaching style...With her looks, she can make the most prudent of philosophers fall in love with her..With her rich inner values and external beauty, she can even make Plato climb up out of his cave and into her lap!!

Marilyn is the reason I chose a Philosophy major. She is a challenging prof, but you learn so much from her and have a lot of fun doing it. Take one of her courses any chance you get, you won't regret it.

She's young, hip and hilarious! Lectures were usually short, every class ended 20-45mins early but still covered everything we needed to know. Uses very clear examples and hands out tons of practice assignments. If you read the text and did the practice work, tests are super easy. She does EASY pop quizzes. There's one essay-type assignment too.

Another of Douglas Colleges' finest. Lectures are kept concise, and she's hilarious. TALK in her classes to get her (good) attention, but do it out of turn and she'll get really annoyed. Read the book, go to class and ask for clarification when you need it (she's pretty clear up front). Fantastic course, definitely not a snore.

I just loved her lectures. First I didn't really like her since she tends to be strict like a highschool teacher, but then I realized that helped me a lot! She's really loving person and likes teaching and her students. She'll encourage you to do well if you become left befind. GREAT prof! I love the way she lectures!

Dr. Kane is always on time and organized. Engaging prof that makes the material interesting and encourages class discussion without forcing it. Fair marker. What was said in the last dozen positive reviews is still accurate today. If your going to take a philosophy course, take it with her.

I got a B+! And I am a C+ student from 1st year English class. Marilyn makes crystal clear explanations. And the class was super fun. Made me think of everyday life arg'ts. And now I am thinking of changing my major to philosophy... (perhaps?) :)

She extremely helpful. Down to earth and will help anyone if they have questions. She loves to use her emails, so if you ever have a question, just email her and she will respond fast. Her class is so easy, usually I don't like to attend class in the summer, but she was definitely worth it. Very hot as well! ;) Highly recommended for a GPA booster.

A very funny teacher. I found the class difficult but she does a great job trying to teach it. The readings were confusing. Her study guides are very helpful. I loved being in her class, I just didn't enjoy the material.

Makes the class fun and she really loves the course material. Encouraged participation and discussion in the class. I was told she was a hard marker but as long as you put in some earnest effort you shouldn't have trouble cracking a B+ on her papers. Great teacher, would definitely recommend.

Marilyn is super sarcastic and funny. Class always has a lively discussion. She likes people to come to class, cause discussion the topics is a big part. Some minor textbook reading of philosophy terms. Probably could get away without reading it. Available after class. Pretty clear about assignments and tests.

Went in to this class dreading it as I am not a Philosophy buff but I ended up loving the material. Dr. Kane is a great teacher! Extremely funny and sarcastic. Encourages discussion. Will not criticize you for having a different opinion.. Sometimes let's other students go off on tangents too much before cutting them off. Her drawings are hilarious!

SHE is the best prof ever. Before taking her class, I HATE-ed PHILOSOPHY or any subjects related to it. She changed my perspective of seeing philosophy subject! JUST take it, participate in her class, she is simply amazing.

She isn't afraid of calling students out when they don't do the work, although she'll never name any names. Takes all perspectives seriously. Participation heavy.

She's very clear in her explanation (she's sarcastic in a hilarious way, i really like her lectures). You will pass with flying colours if you pay attention in class. Not much homework too.

Marilyn is an amazing professor. If you just show up to class, you should be able to do fine. However, if you want to exceed and actually get something out of the class, try to participate! If you want to exceed, also make sure to do the assigned readings. She gives you all the tools to exceed, you just need to take them.

Best prof Ive ever taken. Shes funny, understanding, a great teacher, and understands that this is just and elective class for most students. This course itself is easy, interesting and useful in daily life. If you show up every class, listen and take notes, do the textbook readings, and study an hour or 2 per week you will get an A, guaranteed.

I am currently in my third year and have taken 80+ credits. Out of all of the classes I have taken, Marilyn is my absolute favourite instructor! She is incredibly caring, funny, engaging, and available to her students. She absolutely deserves recognition for her teaching. I am sad to leave Douglas because I can't take courses with Marilyn anymore.

Literally the easiest class I have ever taken, I always studied the day before exams and always got 95% or over. Most of the material is common sense, and she makes her exams super fair and really similar to her worksheets

Read the required chapters then answer a few questions. Now repeat every week. Done.

She's SUPER flexible and understanding with assignment due dates especially with there being a global pandemic. Only downside with classes being online is she isn't very tech savvy. There were no lectures and her class was my first philosophy class so it became hard to follow and understand all the material.

(Online COVID class) Marilyn posted some notes and things each week for each chapter. Class structure is straightforward: read textbook, take notes. And then 2 midterms and a final. Overall, I liked her and her easy-going class, so I recommend!

May I just say, what an amazing professor Marilyn is? She is so understanding and so well versed in what she teaches and makes it fun to learn philosophy in a way that helps you. She s an absolute gem and I highly recommend her as a proffessor.
