This is by far the worst teacher I've had in my whole life. I swear to god this teacher must get off when her students fail. She screws people out of points towards the end of the semester. I do not know how this teacher is still teaching. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! YOU WILL ALL THANK ME I SWEAR!

Does not really care whether the students are learning or not.

Expects alot but is not willing to spend time with really working on anything. The course was good, but has become useless because of her teaching style. This professor has absolutely no interest in students.

she is a very non-cooperative professor who is reluctant to share her concerns with her students. she is a lady of a very few words who refuses to communicate effectively with her students. This is highly inappropriate for a professor and frustrating for the students at the same time. i am still repenting about taking her class.

I DID NOT LIKE THIS CLASS AT ALL. SHE WAS VERY INSENITIVE TO THE STUDENTS NEEDS. SHE ACCUSED ME OF NOT TURNING MY PAPER INTO THE PLAGERISM WEBSITE WHEN IT WAS AND GAVE ME A ZERO. I HAD TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE DEAN, EHICH STILL FAIL BC OF HER STATUS EVENTOUGH IT WAS VERY OBVIOUS MY PAPER WAS NOT PLAGERIZED AND 3 PAPER COPIES WERE TURNEDIN.

she is the worst teacher i've had in my life too. I was also accused for plagerism she never spoke with me about it she just accused me with the dean just because i forgot some quote marks. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!

She could care less about student's concerns, I very much agree with these comments.She does not care to help you, smiles when she states something mean. Not an easy A, easily hands out D's. LOOK FOR ANOTHER TEACHER FOR YOUR COURSES!!

The grade you will receive from this teacher is SUBJECTIVE. You will not get an A in this class if you are an A student. I'm not sure how you will, good luck..

she is a mean teacher.she was not clear about syllabus.she will not gonna give you full points for participation if you never missed any of her classes.she never thinks about her students grade. she will easily give you "F". she doesnt care about her student at all.she is the worst teacher i have ever had in my whole life.

I have taken so many classes and i can assure you that i have never seen such a cold , careless and annoying professor as Marylin Kaplan. I stopped going to her class at the middle of semester and had to retake the class in summer. I paid total of $2995 to pass the class second time and she knew that was my last course. Please save yourself .

I don't care for this class, she is rude for no reason and the class is not as interesting as I thought.

Worst teacher ever, she does not teach, does not help, does not care about the students. She will not read your papers, she just skims them and gives low grades. She is out to fail as many students as she can. Avoid at all costs!

She's a horrible professor. For example, if some students come to her class late, like 15 mins, she would snatch the attendance right from them and wouldn't let them sign in while she let some other students sign in even if they are 25-30 mins late w/o a clear reason! She's very biased, discriminating and unreasonable. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

Most boring teacher ever! She's very rude and condescending. When I need to ask her about anything, she frankly doesn't care if I understand what the hell she's talking about. AVOID AT ALL COST!

Class is an easy A, She doesn't believe in challenging students to learn - only to not believe. She tears others down and doesn't seem interested in teaching.

She sure doesn't like one of the new profs in the OSIM area. I have heard her tell students to not complete the work in his class. Apparently he teaches International classes & is too research oriented and religious. If you are religious don't let her know.

This is the worst teacher and class I've ever taken in undergrad or graduate. This teacher has no place teaching at this University. She is not helpful clarifying questions and is non-responsive to students questions. If possible, take any other teacher. If you have to take her, ask a ton of questions about every paper and hope she responds.

Avoid this professor. Very unorganized and unprofessional. Difficult to understand because of her accent. She clearly discriminates against certain students from a certain background. She does not fit the professional standard to teach at UTD.

Kaplan's deadlines are inconsistent and very strange, some assignments are due Sundays at 8am, others Mondays at 8am, others on a day of the week at 8am. She does not give clear instructions for assignments, and if you don't do it exactly as she likes she will grade very harshly. DO NOT TAKE HER COURSES, take an alternative professor if possible.

For the love of whatever religious deity you believe in, or don't believe in, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She expects a lot while giving VERY LITTLE information on what she wants. She is vague and unresponsive in her emails. When she does reply to her emails she is sarcastic and does not help at all. Other students give me more info than she does.

She's so difficult and makes a huge deal about everything. Her instructions are vague and she tends to be extremely rude when you ask for help or email her. Makes a seminar class harder than it needs to be and nit picks on everything. Calls you out for miniature mistakes and constantly drills down the fact that you're not doing your part in class

All of her instructions are vague. The syllabus was more helpful than she was when it came to our portfolio. When it comes to the portfolio, be super extra with it because she might dock you for not putting nay extra effort in. The class is easy but somehow she makes it seem so difficult.

This is a woman or soul. I had a high B in the class and she took of 23.5 points off the letter grade and gave me a 64 in the class because of 4 absences. I had 4 absences when I was dealing with the death of grandmother but she did not care and gave me a D in the class. Her syllabus is very poorly written and is not consistent. NEVER TAKE HER!

She is very vague with her assignments and is fairly condescending/rude when you ask her questions regarding coursework. You definitely have to put a lot of work in to get a good grade.

Took this class as an elective and there was more work in this class than my core classes. Thought the class would be interesting but she just stands at the podium waiting for students to talk about ethics with her. Grading is very vague, she literally says "I don't care" when students ask about format and no rubrics are given. Take another class.

Never wished ill on any professor, but this is the worst professor i've ever had, never clear about grading and deadlines, which can compromise your grade later in the course, the class is just busywork and has practically no intellectual gain. This is the worst professor at UTD and I hope you heed my warning and avoid her like the plague.

If you are looking for an understanding, caring professor who will actually teach the course, I would not recommend her at all. She does not care about her students and is not clear about assignments. I read the reviews but I did not listen. She makes it harder than it is and takes off points on your total grade for absences.

i consider myself a caring, nice person. So it's a big deal for me to admit this woman has absolutely no soul. She does not care about her students, and will look for any excuse to demean you and shatter your dreams. I unfortunately had no choice but to take her, but if you do, RUN FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THIS DEMON!

So due to the pandemic we are forced to meet via Microsoft Teams, her link didnt work that the school set up (no other professor had a issue using it) didnt bother to inform anyone about how to access it using anything else. Said I dont care thats not my problem when a student tried to express their concern. Just rude on first day of meeting

She is one of those types who will humiliate students in front of the class. There are professors who believe "nothing is a stupid question, I am here to help", well, she is not one of them. She insult kids, very passive. She praises herself on being "pretty good at teaching" but if you ask me she is far from even just good. Good luck to everyone

Easy class where you just write journals and read the free textbook. There's a couple of extra assignments on top of journals. The professor herself has a poor view of students and said "this is what happens when you have online class. they don't care about class" when no one replied when the speaker asked if we had any questions.

She insults and embarrasses students in calls. She is the only professor who managed to mess up the very simple Microsoft team's meetup link and blamed it on the 80+ students that missed the first meeting. She has been disgusted with her students since day one, I do not know why as this has been the most respectful class I've had.

This woman is wild. Her due dates are very strict for labs and if you don'd complete one thing, you're locked out of the whole course. She says she's quick at replying to emails and this is just because she gives terrible answers. Most of the time you get "did you read the syllabus" "its all in the syllabus" "no one else is having this problem"

Im not one to be mean to people but she SUCKS. Shes rude to students and singles them out for asking simple questions. Her class is easy but if you miss one lab, you basically fail the whole class bc all the other labs will be locked. She doesnt understand the prompts of her own assignments and will give you a 0 even if you followed the prompt.

I have dealt with similar people to Professor Kaplan but never as a professor. She is not very specific in her instructions and when you ask for clarification she will tell you to go read your syllabus or watch the stream videos. As a person who's whole job is to teach she is actually terrible. I can't get past her condescending responses. RUN!

My entire life I have understood that high school teachers are rather unmotivated compared to professors. Knowing that I was pleasantly surprised when I started UT Dallas to find most of my teachers were indeed quite good at what they do.. except Kaplan. By far the most useless course and professor I have seen or heard. No questions answered at all

I'm usually not someone who reviews professors badly, but Dr. Kaplan is such a rude person. She makes it where if a student misses one assignment, you're locked out of the rest of the class. She also is very rude to students in lectures. Do everything in your power to stay away from her if you can. Take my advice and never take her class.

She is awful but all students are required to take her if you are taking BCOM. Super annoying and I am even surprised she even gets paid. The entire class is just her giving out random assignments that are super easy and her introducing guest speakers. You learn absolutely nothing from her, but the information the guest speakers give is useful.

She talks down to all her students and if you ask her to repeat something she will verbally harass you. I was forced to take her for the lab section of BCOM 1300, but the actual assignments she gives out are ridiculously easy. Skip the lectures, its a waste of time. If you do that, this lab takes no more than 10 minutes of your week.

Oh Kaplan. She is actually the worst professor/ teacher Ive ever had. If you want to lose your sanity, take her. If you miss one assignment you fail the whole class. With the way she treats her students, Its almost as if she has a vendetta against young people.

I didn't think a professor this bad existed. It's a good thing it's easy to do her labs, because she's a horrible woman. She almost seems to enjoy berating her students, but unfortunately she's the assistant dean, so not much to do about it. Her labs take like 5-10 mins a week, but if you miss one you're locked out for the rest of the year.

Sign up for asynchronous learning (lectures are useless), but DO ALL THE JOURNALS ON TIME!!! It takes 15 mins of your week and you must be dumb af to not be able to do them they're SO easy if you follow instructions. Don't send emails w dumb questions, don't interact w her. Good grammar/writing + meeting deadlines + don't be stupid EASY A+.

I know you have no choice but to take her but this in hopes UTD will fire her. She is the absolute rudest most difficult professor I have ever experienced in my 3 years of college. Homework is simple but so pointless. Don't bother with lectures. Just do the work and never reach out, you'll get a very rude response. Work ahead so you can resubmit.

Dr. Kaplan is the epitome of how not to communicate in the business world, and as such, is an inferior choice to lead a course in business communication. Throughout the entire semester, our questions were met with crass and cynicism. My advice is to avoid her like the plague in anything at UTDallas.

The lab class itself was easy, however, she is one of the most rude professors ever. She is unwilling to answer questions, not helpful at all, and if you are someone who's genuinely engaged in this class, avoid her. She is super unhelpful.

Probably the worst teacher in all of USA. This person should never have been retained by UTD. Questionable ethics and heavily biased against certain groups.

Her grading criteria is very, very inconsistent, it seems like she picks and chooses whatever number she feels like giving out for exams. Says she will give feedback on the memos but does not, no feedback given at all. If you want to save your GPA please avoid taking her.

If there wasn't a limit, I could write a whole essay on why you shouldn't take her. She rambles on a topic she wants to talk about for the day, exams are FRQ and if you write one thing she doesn't agree with she will give you 0 credit. Never gives actual feedback after exams. Doesn't accept absence unless school related and gives wrongful penalty

This professor does not know how to teach in the slightest, even her husband did a better job lecturing during his guest lecture. Grading is highly unfair and inconsistent, if she doesn't agree with a point you made during a quiz or exam you will get 0 credit. Shows a LOT of favoritism, not claiming, stating facts. All assignments are unclear

I honestly don't even know why she chose to teach as her profession, because she has a very nasty attitude to anyone who asks for help. Do NOT take this professor unless there is absolutely no other option.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU CAN HELP IT. She is rude, condescending, and unhelpful. Tests are graded in an arbitrary way where she does not give partial credit if your answer is technically correct but not exactly word for word what she said in lecture.

The feedback she provides is extremely unhelpful to the instructions given. Definitely does not take the teacher approach. Many of the C suites are not even this disrespectful such as her feedback. Many students felt she purposefully makes you feel incompetent. For this being a Capstone class UTD needs to do better and make appropriate changes.
