Whitney is great. She reminds me of my mom and I get sad when she talks about her son stealing her calculator, because I used to do that to my mom before her class. She is whimsical in the way she approaches microeconomics. She is also very approachable.

She goes over everything in detail. Just make sure you go to class because there's lots of notes. Homeworks are very similar to the midterms. Go to her office hours because she gives alot of hints.

The only thing you need to do for this class is study the lecture notes and make sure you know the practice exams. The multiple choice questions are hard, so make sure you understand the concepts. Overall, I highly recommend Profesesor Whitney because she's so incredibly nice and helpful.

Prof Whitney is the nicest teacher i've had @ UCD! She's always down to help students and you can definitely ace her class if you study ALL the lecture notes and do all the practice exams! jst a lil hard on the MC questions...i wish i can have her for all my econ classses! very easy!

Prof. Whitney is super nice. She gives such great notes that you don't even need to buy the book. Be prepared to develop a nasty writing bump because she writes with super human speed. Tests are very easy and fair. Remember to take the practice exam.

Prof. Whitney is one of the nicest and most understanding professors at UCD. The class is all copying notes (no videos, NOTHING) from the board so bring some ice for your wrist. The tests are very clear and very straightforward. I'd definitely take a class with her again.

Homeworks are strait from lecture and tests are simplified versions of homework. She is very helpfull in class and in office hours. Im going to try to take her for as many classes as I can. Great teacher!

Whitney is the easiest instructor i have so far. Her teaching is understandable and the test is very straight forward, there is no tricky questions on the midterms or finals, and you can bring little notes for the test. Great teacher, nice attitude toward her teaching.

Dr. Whitney is really nice.. but thats about it..very boring class. The class is essentially based on mult choice, because the problems are ridiculously easy, and 90% of the people ace them. MT mean ~80%, for you #'s people. As an A- GPA student, i'd avoid her - Constantine makes you learn SO much more. God, my wrist hurts. She writes WAY TOO MUCH!

Take ever single ARE class you possibly can with her! She is the easiest ARE professor and def very friendly. Tests are exactly like HW and Lectures. She tries to make the class as interesting as possible and will help you via email at odd hours. MY FAVORITE ARE TEACHER BY FAR!

Best ARE teacher @ Davis! U don't need to buy the book, just make sure u go to ALL the lectures and copy down the board. Everything she could possibly test u on is taught through lecture. Extremely nice and very approachable. Easy if you memorize your notes well and make sure u can do all the possible problems on the tests. Homework isn’t long too.

Incredibly clear. Go to every lecture, write everything down, do the homework, and go over every sample question on the sample midterms and finals. You will do fine. I never read the book (except for MACRS & stock split/dividend tables) She also gives real world examples to give you an idea of what it will be like in real life. I really like that.

Best Professor at Davis. She literally writes the whole textbook on the board at every lecture. You gotta take a lot of notes but it's worth it because if you study them just a little bit you'll do well. She's TOOO nice. Each test is curved individually and the whole class is curved at the very end. I got High B's in 100 B and 157

Expect to get tired from copying notes. No complaints except her multiple choice might trick you & there's no curve. If I can choose, I'd still take Constantine, I dont need my prof to hold my hand to go thru every little detail of a problem & she writes and says lots of nonsense too - good for ppl who dont have time or want to study on their own.

Really nice teacher. Class is not very hard. The downside is that taking notes for 2 hours is not fun. But tests are easy when you have all of the notes and examples.

Very kind teacher. Very approachable with questions. She writes her notes on the board so make sure you go to class, motivates you to learn and do well on her exams. Homeworks are very easy and short.

So nice! Her hw's are straight from her notes, don't bother buying the book, I didn't and I got a 98% on the midterm. she knows people don't buy the book so she writes everything you need to know on the board, topics are interesting and she relates it well to real life by including examples related to her life, you can have notecards for the tests

Very easy class. Notes are long like everyone else says. I almost wanted to shoot myself a couple times. Hopefully that won't discourage you from taking the course. Also, the class is from 6-8pm.. so yeah.. I'm just glad I'm through with it. Professor Whitney is an extremely nice person. Very helpful. Overall it was an awesome class.

Took Whitney for 157 and 100b. She's a wolf in sheeps clothings. She's so nice, yet so mean, her test are the trickiest you'll ever find!!! Don't listen to what all these people say...Take her and you'll find out. She doesn't use the book for either class, so all you have are notes that are written so fast you cant keep up....she's so nice<<<fake!!

The tests were kind of tricky, but you can still survive. She is a good lecturer, but some of the examples she gave in-class weren't helpful for the hwk assignments. There were 3 hwk assignments & 2 MTs. Overall, I would recommend taking classes with her because she's fairly easy.

All you do is go to lecture and copy EVERYTHING she writes. If you go to lecture and section and go over your notes after class you'll have no problem doing the homework and midterms. Its just a bunch of memorization. Pretty easy class.

She is an extremely nice professor explains the concepts very well. Very approachable. Homework are long, but prepare you pretty well for the short answer part of the exams. Her exams are a bit hard and tricky. You should know the subject matter very well if you want to do well on the multiple choice portion of the examms.

I really enjoyed this class, it's very applicable to the real world. Whitney is super approachable and very helpful during office hours. If you can pay attention during class and write fast, you'll do well in her class. The MC was a bit tricky though, sometimes she pulled random facts of out the notes. Other than that awesome class and professor!!!

157 is a very manageable class that you should take if you can. Although the lectures were somewhat boring, Professor Whitney does her best to liven it up. The hardest aspect of the class was staying awake from 6-8pm. She allows the use of notecards so the exams were fair but the multiple choice portion may trip you up, as in all her classes.

Great Professor. Took several classes with her. Easy to understand. Pretty much all her classes have 4 problem sets, midterm, and final. No text. Very helpful in office hours. Quantitative problems on exams are exactly like HW and practice tests but her MC questions are tough so you really have to study your lecture notes. Recommended for sure.

By far one of the BEST profs @UCD. No book needed. She sums up the book well and writes everything you need to know on the board. She is well spoken, prepared, and helpful via email or OH. Practice problems mirror the exams. B/c of her, I'm going to major in Econ and minor in Man Econ. Take her for all the classes she teaches if need be. Amazing.

She's such a wonderful person and I really enjoyed taking class from her. I'm looking forward to taking more of her classes! Her lectures are very clear, but her tests are quite tricky, so study your notes very carefully! The free response problems are fine; it's the multiple choice section that people lose the most points on in exams.

I'm taking her class this quarter and she is one of the best professors I have ever had. She writes up everything on the board and gives you 2 4X6 cheat sheets for your midterm. I got an A . The MC is easy if you can type everything onto your cheat sheet! She is very nice indeed. TAKE HER!

Whitney's awesome! I like her bitter, cynical sense of humor. She's also very nice. I take classes from her when I can. Her exams can be tricky, though. The free response questions save my grade while the multiple choice destroy it. You also get points for homework, yay! And no textbook (:

Rapid-paced and sometimes a bit dry, but you do get a lot from this class. However, sometimes her notes can be a bit confusing due to organization. The math isn't too hard in exam FRQs, however the multiple choice can be quite tricky, especially in the final. Her homework is on the long side, and I wished there were some conceptual questions in it.

Lots and lots of notes! However, I recommend scanning your notes for use in midterm and final as there are a lot of equations and few in-depth conceptual understanding needed. Aside from a few confusing topics, the class was fine overall. Her homework is a bit on the long side, but very helpful in office hours. Inspiring stories, jokes, examples...

Textbook is optional! No need to buy it, she never references it and says you don't need it. Class has lots of notes, with a very modest amount of simple equations (all limited to algebra and stats). Midterm and final are a couple multiple choice and free response. Notecards are allowed, so just copy your notes and sample problems there.

A excellent professor. Clear, funny, interesting; if you have any interest in the subject matter at all you should take this class. Easy A if you put any effort at all into the class. You must absolutely attend lecture though, not that that's any hardship.

Such an easy class. Go to class, play on your phone, look up once in a while and write what she wrote on the board, and you'll get an A. If you actually pay attention though, she is a very good lecturer and made finance interesting. I now know how to do my taxes! One of the best professors I've had at Davis. STRONGLY recommend

Nice professor who really cares about students. However, the homework and tests are extremely hard. Especially her multiple choice questions. Not enough time to finish exams. Notes are all over the place. You must be on top of your game to do well in this course. Nice curve at the end though.

Interesting class, nice professor. Tests are okay as long as you go over ALL notes and homework. Multiple choice questions on tests are horrible and 10 points each, which can really ruin your grade. Homework is tedious. Text is not required. Did not really curve at the end. Work hard and you will at least pass.

Horrible professor. Goes over material too quickly in lecture, has illegible handwriting, writes too small, doesn't post notes online, and doesn't answer emails in a timely manner. Her lectures are also very disorganized, and she jumps around from one topic to another. Must constantly be on your toes to do well in this course.

Not sure what to make of it. She goes way to fast and sometimes doesn't give good explanations of the material. My biggest issue is that that the tests are at a more in depth level than her lectures with no text to help. Yes sure I got an A but I am not sure if I would recommend.

Absolutely loved her, very energetic, very knowledgeable. She moves EXTREMELY fast. Non stop lectures, very dense. Multiple choice portions of the tests separate the A students from everyone else, they are tough. Homework was good way to study for the tests, she also gave out sample midterms/final for studying. Again, absolutely loved her.

She was extremely helpful and instead of making material seem more difficult in her class sessions (like most UC teachers do), she gave everything in class a personal touch (an experience of here or mentioned how students would be if the encountered a similar situation). Tests weren't easy but she was very helpful in office hours

Whitney is a great professor and shes always upbeat during lectures. Knows her stuff and is clear. The MC on the tests are really hard and the written portion are like the hw and class examples. ALot of formulas to memorize. 4 hw assignments, 1 MT, 1 Final. Not the easiest class but manageable if you take the time to learn it.

If you dont spend lots of time in her crammed office hours trying to make up the fact that you have to write the whole class with minimal understanding of the material, you wont do good. Assignments take longer than expected and are difficult, although not very many, the midterm was tough as was the final. She doesn't give you any online resources and doesn't really follow the book so if you don't go to class, you're screwed. She does give you practice tests however but the Multiple Choice questions are random and worth a lot.

It is very frustrating to be in her class. She works of her hand written notes, no book, and no other sources to study with. Her classes arent hard in material, what makes it hard is that you have to constantly scramble just to understand the material. She keeps making mistakes in material because non of it is peer reviewed. She is a bad teacher.

Professor Whitney is very knowledgable about her teaching material. Her lectures are good and straight to the point. You need to study and work hard in order to do well in her class. If you copy her notes well you will do just fine on the tests. Lecture is mandatory or you'll fail.

Dont take this class if you like to have outside practice material that will be on tests. She covered material poorly, with no book to supplement her bad notes on board, it was hard to keep up. She hs this thing where she sends emails about stuff she didnt have time to cover, which is often, especially around the final to confuse you.

I really enjoyed the course material. You look at a few models and use a lot of math. The short answers on the exams are manageable but the multiple choice is much more difficult.

My favorite teacher in ARE. She's funny and helpful. Just go to office hours if you are confused. DO NOT SKIP LECTURES. She tests 99% from her notes in class. MC questions on tests might get tricky but short answers are pretty fair. I've taken 2 classes with her so far and I loved it.

Pretty organized, not a lot of homework. Too bad it was more theoretical and focused on the mechanisms behind the finances (such as mortgages) as opposed to being just life applicable. Nevertheless, I learned a lot. Just don't wait until the midterm or final to do all of the practice problems.

Wonderful professor. She is very down to earth and gives plenty of examples from her every day life. She also gives plenty of examples in the notes and posts even more onto Smartsite. She also takes time to tell you what the first step is in each type of problem, since "that's the hardest part" for exams. MC is hard. HWs are long. Very sweet lady.

Dr. Whitney was an amazing lecturer but this is not an easy class. She assigns hw which helps prepare for exams. The multiple choice portion of the exam is the toughest. Very helpful in office hours though.

Lectures are fast and she gives out a lot of information, but everything that she writes down is important. She gives plenty of examples to help with the homework, and her exams are pretty straightforward. The multiple choice is the trickiest, but all the answers are in her lecture notes, and they are similar to the topics covered in sample tests.

I LOVE Whitney; she might be my favorite professor in the entire department. She spends a lot of time on concepts to make sure the class understands, which I especially appreciate. She also explains concepts in a way that is so easy to understand. Study the notes, homework, and practice exams and you'll do just fine. I highly recommend her!

Prof Whitney is a great lecturer, she is able to explain difficult concepts in a simple format. Her exams are difficult, especially the multiple choice, but studying the example tests and the notes made them manageable. Unfortunately Prof Whitney retired this past quarter and will not be teaching at UCD.

Great lecture but very hard to read off of the board. I asked her to write bigger and the moment she started writing, she actually wrote even smaller.
