She's not as bad as everyone makes her seems.If you need hepl, she will help you privately in her office. Do homework & practice, you can pass!

She is a really good teacher, she is easy to understand because she gives a lot of examples that are the same of those in the book. Her tests are easy for those who study and do their work, don't pretend to pass if you don't do your homework and not pay attention, I got almost a 100% in her class so if I could I would take her again.

Baring her language(which is a thick Russian accent) her willingness to assist any student beyond the capacity of the class room setting is excellent. She may come off a bit harsh at first but if you do your homework and actually show you care enough to show up for all her classes on time, she will go to bat for you.

I guess she has been reading these reviews on-line because she is a very good teacher now. Most of my professors have accents, so hers doesn't bother me, although I do fall asleep once in a while. Just do all the homework and ask questions. The tests are fairly easy.

I like this teacher a lot. I took her mat1033 and got an A and i am also expecting an A in mac1105. She is very nice and always drops your lowest grade and gives you extra credit. She expains well and gives examples. But remember in math homework is very essential!!

I have almost completed College Algebra. She has been the greatest match teacher I've ever had. She explains everything in detail and with clarity, and does not give up unless you fully understand the concept. She has been more than helpful and concerned about my success in the class. As long as you pay attention and study, you will be fine.

I really like her. She is patient with the class, and answers our questions. She gives us plenty of examples and extra credit when we need it.

I am taking 1105 now and she always answers all of my questions and is very helpful. Before this class started, I didn't use to like math. Now, I like it and understand it. I recommend you to take this class with her.

She is a good teacher, i am retaking 1103 b/c i had gotten a D, but now that i'm taking her i'm close to an A. Sometimes she is hard to understand, but she is full of spunk and sarcasm which makes me laugh. Cool lady!

i love this woman. i didn't study for any of the tests, did the hw because its graded at the end. tests are kinda confusing, but considering i didn't study or really try that hard and ended up with a B. it shouldn't be too bad for those that do study. her accent isn't noticeable after the first few days.

This proffesor knows what she is talking about. The homework is done online and allows you to try until you get the answer right. Homework is counted as a grade. Lowest Test Score Dropped. Awsome Teacher. You just have to Practice and pay attention in class.

no attendance necessary, no book necessary..............4 tests plus a final, and online homework with explanation and help, u can do it as many times until u get it perfect.......trust trust me .... I SUCK AT MATH, BUT WITH THAT CLASS, I AM AN "A+", ....

she is very helpful but the test are kind of hard. but she lets you drop the lowest test if you complete 70% of the hw she gives you 10 extra points on the test if you do a practice test but whatever is on the practice test isnt on the test so you have to study

She is a very fair!!!. I got a B in the class and I thought it was deserved. You have to apply yourself. There are 4 tests and a final. If you do the online homework, which is easy, SHE'LL DROP YOUR LOWEST GRADE. Extra credit was a plus. The final was actually easier than the overall 4 tests. Just think, "You Can Do It"!!!

This teacher saved my life. If I would have failed this course i would have had to go Miami-Dade to take it. I was taking a chance just taking this class for six weeks but she helped me and worked with me because I was helping myself. If you just do all the HW and do the practice test(adds 10 pts. to test) u will be fine

She has a strong accent, she gives extra credit for doing a sample test online which is also useful as a review.If you do your homework and sample test you will do good in tests. Over all she is a good teacher, i got an A in her class.

She's amazing! She offers extra credit and homework grades to help boost your grade if you don't do well on the tests. The tests are half Multiple choice and show work. She takes the entire class time to explain but always stops to acknowledge questions. She's great! TAKE HER!

I am decent in math and this professor went over EVERYTHING we needed to know. I love her Russian accent and the dirty looks she gives anyone who comes in after she has began teaching. Best math teacher, she helps you with whatever questions u have about the subject... the only thing you have to do to pass the class, do hmwrk, don't be late, and attend to class... Before any test she reviews it, and gives a study guide for the final or midterm...

Overall a good teacher. I got a C in the class because I never attended. She teaches pretty clearly...unless you're stupid. Doesn't get too deep into the subject, which is good, keeps things very basic.

Professor Polyakova is probably the best math professor at BCC. She explains everything clearly. Uses MATH XL, an online math program for homework and practice exams. Always available, gives extra credit for sample tests, and is always willing to explain anything you don't understand. Take her if you want to learn. I got an A+ in her class.

Marina is one of my favorite professors. She is very animated- appears interested or at least very engaged in the topics. Wants to show the class everything they need to know, but wont repeat things over and over for people not paying attention. Enjoyable. Very friendly and her english is perfectly understandable, if amusing at times.

This Teacher is great!! I hate math, but by her giving you 100 points just for the homework I was able to do it and learn the material. You will pass this class. She goes over the material with good detail and explains why you do the steps for the problem. My best math teacher at bcc. Definitely would recommend!!

She is a very good teacher. Her notes are very clear, understandable, and helpful. Warning: some of her tests ARE hard. If you don't do the necessary work you will definitely fail but she is not impossible and you will learn a lot.

Ok, this class is VERY difficult if you choose to take the summer session, however Professor Polyakova is always there to help. She has office hours and you can walk in and she will be glad to help you. The kids who complain about how they failed/dropped never took advantage of her willingness to help. Don't take the summer if you're bad at math!

She is great! Had her for MAT1033 and passed with an A! although she has an accent she is very clear and will always help... she doesnt move on until the class undertsand the material. You do not need a textbook. MathXL is an awesome way to do HW and learn the material. She is always willing to help. Wish she was teaching Biz Calculus!!

She is a fair teacher and helpful with everything, even if you have a question on her tests. If she knows you understand the material she will help you out and work with you.

I took calc 1 with polyakova and even though calc is a scary course she made it look interesting and she does help your grade. Go to class ask questions she will always give u an answer! Great Professor!

I think this teachers accent is very easy to understand you do have to make sure you pay attention but she explains it in a way that's easy to understand even without the book. But you do have to do the homework and study, she is open with questions. I wish I studied harder cause it was an easy class but the on quizzes was hard to remember.

I had no problems really. She was sarcastic, but never got off track with her lesson plan. If you miss a day, you miss an assignment. There is no make-ups. The only thing I hated about this class was the ALEKS program, but at the end of the day, it was a good learning tool and I probably wouldn't have passed without it. AND THERE IS NO TEXT BOOK!

She is ok in my opinion. I think I did fine in this class because I have a pretty good background in math. Even though I practiced hard I still got a B, her tests are kind of tricky and not that easy. I think she is ok but I don't think I'll take her again, since I don't like her teaching methods.

I took her for the blended course in summer and I think I passed only because I knew math. Although I like the way she teaches, there is way too much homework for the amount of time it was available. She is not sarcastic at all and if you don't understand something she will help you out. I would recommend her.

She gives very clear notes. She expects you to keep up with the homework. If you do that you should have no problem.

She is NOT easy. Must be very disciplined, and dedicated to pass her class. She is very helpful though, and does make sure that you are learning the lesson. She is always willing to help and seems like a cool person. But again, SHE IS NOT EASY! If you take your education seriously and study, and dedicate time though, you shouldn't have a problem.

I took the blended version of her class, I only show up for test and I haven't got less then an A on a single one. It is not hard to keep up with the assignments at all unless your lazy. Aleks is the key to passing! TIP IF YOU WANT AN A+: do every single problem Aleks gives you and DON'T use Mathway!

Took blended. Midterm & final were difficult. Did not correlate with the pratice very well. She's nice, easy to understand to me. Teaching style worked for some students but not for me. You have to try her classes to see if they work for you. Some students pass, but got a D, & i'm pretty good in math (I always get an A or B). But give her a chance.

By far the best professor I've ever taken!! & math is my worse subject : but she is so engaged with her students and that is very rare now-a-days, you could tell she really love what she do. The classwork is easy if you take good notes and pay attention along with the tests which are questions from aleks as long as you study & do hw you will pass!

PROS: Great teacher, she will help with anything you need just as long as you attend class on time & make attempt to do the homework. The test problems are specifically related to the exorcises that you'll be doing in class or as HW. CONS: ALEKS is used JIC u dont like it. Test are timed although she can be flexible sometimes. CW but u can gethelp

She is a really good teacher she explains all the topics clearly and doesnt move on until everyone says that they understand it. And offers extra help for people that may be struggling in the class. She puts up practice tests which if you do and study you should be able to pass the real test pretty easily.

I had her for session 2 so everything was fast paced knowing I was bad in math. It was just that you had 2 hours of homework every night on this program called ALEKS. You couldn't breathe! I passed with hard work and you have to study, or you are not going to do well on the tests!

I took her class as a session 4 class and was kind of skeptical, but definitely don't regret it. The notes she gives, are on D2L so if you missed a concept or need to review it was there so that was really helpful. Gives daily classwork & she uses Aleks, so if you don't like Aleks I don't reccomend her but overall a great teacher.

IF YOU DONT LIKE THE ALEKS PROGRAM, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! It even has a warning when you signup, that she teaches with ALEKs. For those who don't know what ALEK is, it's homework x1,000 every week.... Aside from that she is nice. If she didn't teach with Aleks then this class would have been perfect because she explains well and cares.

She's is a very good teacher who clearly knows the material she is teaching. You get your attendance based on the classwork so if you don't do the classwork it is like you're absent. The homework assignments are tedious (ALEC) but it definitely helps you understand the course. Test are easy if you do the homework and listen in class.

I took Pre-Calc as a 12 week summer course. Prof Polyakova is an excellent Professor. One of the most organized that I have taken. You will always know what to do and what is coming up. She also provides weekly summaries of what to do. If you have question, you have to ask her. She will respond in detail. Discussions. Quizzes, and 3 Tests.

Let me start by saying that I am not good at math, at all. Took MAC1140 as an online class since it was the only way it would fit into my schedule. There is definitely a good chunk of work that needs to be done. But Professor Polyakova was more than helpful from the start. Ended up with a B in the class, which was more than fine with me.

She's a really good teacher. She tells you what she expects and her classwork isn't all that difficult if you pay attention and go to class.

One of the best Math teachers I've taken. It was a 6 week course which is really fast. You had to put your all into it but she taught really good and it was worth it in the end. Her grading was quite understanding. Not that many tests or quizzes... She has an accent but that's fine with me. I advise you to take her class!!!!!!!

I like this class and I like her as a teacher. This is the hardest class Ive took yet but I have a good grade so far. If youre a person who misses classes or come late often you shouldnt take this class because it will be hard for you to catch up. Cheating wont do you any justice either. As long as u pay attention and study youll be fine.

Just like any other math class you have to study. Homework was the objectives on ALEKS and we just have quizzes every other week. As long as you show up quiz days and do good on them and do the homework assigned you should be good. I saw a lot of people mention her accent but to me is was easy to understand, she's also nice.

I took prof Polyakova class for mac11105. it was great! she gives very clear instructions which are easy to follow. there is a lot of homework, but if you run into trouble and don't understand something, she' s super helpful. just be sure to come on time. Overall best professor i've had. two thumbs up!!!!!!

You have to do your work and you would be fine. Tests are easy if you do your homework. She will help you out if you talk to her.

If you like or are good at Algebra, this is the class for you. I'm good at Algebra so this class was super easy. Professor Polyakova was kind, but b/c this was a blended class, we had to stick to a strict schedule, so she went fast. She uses ALEKS a ton, that is where all our work is. The class is easy if you pay attention and do your work.

All work is done on Aleks. There is ALOT of Homework and the material is hard but you are given multiple tries on wrong questions. No real feedback provided by the professor. No lectures, only videos and textbooks. The tests are proctored. 4 tests and a Final which weigh heavily on your grade.

Listen. If you know algebra/do the work you are fine. I did not really pay attention much in class, but she is happy to answer questions if you are confused about something after she explained a new concept or did an example. It isn't difficult to understand but she lectures nonstop which could bore you if you already know what you're doing.

She came as a sub, then took over my class, takes a bit of warming up to but she's really nice! The class is as a hard as a math class usually is but she explains really well. Lots of hw and 1 in class assignment per class, the 5 test are with 50% of your grade, she gives reviews that are exactly like the test still requires studying. No midterm.

The only thing is the loads of homework and the honorlock tests and final. Other than that very nice teacher and understanding.

Tough class, but the professor is helpful if you stay engaged. Lots of homework, but Unstuck study and the free textbook made studying easier. Attendance matters, so don't skip class.

would recommend this prof for math. if you hate math you will hate this class, but follow the lectures ask questions if you get confused on topics. She is more than willing to work with you, i never even asked but she dropped my lowest test grade for the final exam grade plus some low-scoring HW assignments which helped me get an A.

Professor Polyakova structured the course very well which made all the material really straightforward and easy to learn. Great Professor, would take again, highly recommend.
