don't listen to any of the other people... she gives TONS of extra credit... all you have to do is read the chapters and do the study guide before tests, and you're straight! i have a 138 average right now.

Easiest class ever. So much EXTRA CREDIT, you can get a 70 on a test and have it turn out as a 100. Plus the extra credit is amazingly easy, take this class if you want A. The teacher herself is pretty nice and funny too.

very hard class... the only way i'm surviving with an A/B is with the enormous amounts of extra credit she gives out per exam...about 10%-30%...so it doesn't matter if you get 60s on exams...funny funny lady though.

Very difficult to understand. Rambles about the sexiness of Economics and Golom (LoTR). The class itself is really boring, and the information on her tests isn't always what she says was supposed to be on there. Extra credit can't save you here.

I don't know why Rosser is receiving such low marks. She's a great teacher, funny, uses great examples, the only problem is that econ is such a difficult subject. She tells you what's on the test and tries hard to get you to succeed. I'd recommend her.

She definitely plays favorites, but doesn't let it affect class too much. Insane amounts of extra credit, but endless notes. Drink coffee and you'll be fine. She's hilarious too, probably the best time you can have studying econ.

She knew her stuff I think better than any other professor I've had, just sometimes had difficulty teaching it. Tests are multiple choice though and you get a ridiculous amount of extra credit. Read the material! Lectures have some humor.

Great time. Readings were chanllenging but once you know what to look for you won't spend much time at all writing the weekly essay. She's one of the most knowledgeable professors in this school. Learned a lot, work is average for an econ class.

if you try and listen, she's great! that means, don't be afraid to ask questions- she's totally approachable once you actually talk to her. if you go to office hours, she's always willing to help. people who don't like her just can't suck up their own poor habits.

She's one of the best profs I've ever hard! Explains material extremely well and if you are interested in the subject you'll do well. Not too hard compared to other econ classes. I would def recommend her if you wanna be challenged. Very, very intelligent woman!

I would def reccomend her. Macroeconomics is nitorious for its difficulty but she offers ludicris amounts of extra credit. Test one went from an 88% to a 103%. Test 2 went from an 80% to a 104%...Need I say more. You are also allowed to use a cheat sheet on every test and the final!!!

Funny smart woman. Read chapters before class and her lectures make perfect sense. Cheat sheets on test/quizes and lots of EXTRA CREDIT. Has an accent but only hard to understand if you don't know the material she is teaching. If you have trouble understand topics of econ, approach her/get a tutor

I still cannot figure out what book she got her multiplechoice test questions from, b/c they definately did NOT correspond with ours. The class notes are allover and unorganized and really dont correspond to the material in the book or to most of the test questions. But she is a very smart woman!!!

Rosser is a one impressive lady. Shes smart, cultured, and will cuss like a sailor sometimes! But all in all Ms. Rosser is very chill but challenging. Study for tests and quizes cause they are extra credit on your tests, no joke. + you get to make cheat cards for exams. Take her shes top shelf!

I deffinitaly recommend her.Quizes are extra credit and there a couple other options for extra credit, totaling over 95 points extra credit.Use the study guide that comes with the book and an A is very attainable on the tests.Tests are from the book more than from the class lectures

Rosser is great, her lectures can be hard to follow, but if you actually read the book you will do fine. The study guide is very helpful, quiz points are extra credit and go to class because she gives extra credie to answering questions too. Read, take advantage of extra points, an A is not hard.

Woman's horrible. Charged everyone in the class 60 bucks for the textbook which she wrote and was posted on the Internet in public domain. She would only take payments and cash and reluctantly checks. The text was rejected by her publisher and was littered with errors. she failed me after i filed a complaint. i graduated with a 3.6 in 2004.

either slept through or never went to class. read the book, take hrs of notes from the book, do the workbook (so important) and u'll be fine. She gets all the test q's from the book and the workbook (make sure you read and go through the pract. questions. I got an A. I suck at math, had NO interest in econ..still dont. oh yea, do the extra credit!

Horrible. I had to take it for my my prep courses. I withdrew and am taking this class at another college. She calls you out in class if you are concerned and makes a fool out of you in the process. If you like ECON, then take her. Other wise, steer clear!!!!! It's for your own good!

She has an accent, but if you sit towards the front you can understand what she says perfectly. I found her class interesting, though you need to read to keep up and things can still seem confusing. No extra credit which kinda sux, and you need to listen to lectures to understand. Overall a good class, wouldnt take it if not Business major.

The accent is a bit of something to contend with. She occasionally gives away points in class for answering questions. It is very important that you read, or so she stresses, while it is, she doesnt go as into the text as you would think. At times its hard to know where she pulls material from. Don't listen to the people who tell you that she is a horrible teacher! This class is a challenge, but it's also macro, so it will be no matter what the teacher. She tries to make class funny to get through the boring material and if you do what she says and keep up with the reading, you can definately get an A or B. Take her! :)

Her accent is troublesome at times, but she does what she can in trying to make the class enjoyable. I suck at ECON and the material just killed me, but i ended pulling a C in the end. Does a lot to help you out by offering 4-point extra credit questions in class if you volunteer, which is huge.

The class was relatively easy, and lectures came straight from the book (because she and Barkley Rosser wrote it), so you really don't need to worry about buying the book unless you need a paperweight. Her accent can be troublesome at times, but a Russian accent is not that bad to understand.

Horrible teacher, her thick accent and fast pace make her teaching style even worse. While shes a nice person, she is inept at delivering concepts and at explaining the principles. Class was semi-entertaining, however both her and the text are unbearably hard to cope with. Econ in general is a tough subject and Dr Rosser seemes to make it worse.

Unclear and difficult to follow in lectures. She teaches at an incredibly fast pace, so should you fall behind, you are screwed. No attendance policy, but class is pretty crucial due to participation (for extra credit). I wouldnt reccommend taking her unless you have a strong knowledge of Economics prior to her class. Requires alot of work for an A

Easy Class, Show up to all classes, pay attention, read the Chapter summary and you are gold. Maybe before the exam flip through the chapter but your CHEAT CARD FOR ALL EXAMS HELPS!!! good prof. but likes to cuss and talk about sex to "relate"

Hard to follow during lectures. Doesn't write enough on the board. Goes on tangents all the time. Tests are insane. Ten hard a**-multiple choice qustions with five short answer questions. Covers a semester's worth of info in one test. If you do well in this class consider yourself a genius.

Do not let this be your teacher! She is so hard to understand and you can't even comprehend to what she is trying to get at. I would say that about 90% of the class has no idea what is going on when she talks. The tests are impossible because they are very generall and conceptual, so studying is useless. She never specifiacally says whats on tests.

If you don't get her to tell you about how Russia traded her for ICBM missles, you've missed out on the best tangent any Professor could go on. Sometimes hard to understand, but she gives test questions online exactly as will be on the test, plus a take-home question. She says shes still teaching 301 so take it.

DONT go to class. just get the book and study guide. It was A LOT easier to understand and i didnt feel like it was a waste of time going to class. problem with that is you need to discipline yourself to keep up with the reading on time for tests. extra credit is RARE. dont be fooled by her syllabus.

The subject itself can be difficult and confusing at times, but I found that Dr. Rosser really brought it to life in the classroom. She has an Eastern European accent, but once you get over that and accustom yourself to taking her notes, you'll be fine. She gives at least one quiz before each test, which counts as extra credit. I ended up with a B.

Really hard subject and class. She teaches straight from the book, although thats not whats on the test. You must know how to use concepts instead of memorization. Very very hard tests! She has an accent that is hard to understand. She is nice lady and gives extra credit at the end of the semester. 4 tests and no hw.

This teacher is not that hard. Go to the review sessions and read the book, and study for the test and you should do decent. Has a quiz in between test and adds it to your test grade. Also if you get a 100 on the 3rd test you can opt out of the final and not go to class the rest of the semester.

Terrible teacher, you will learn nothing from her, just read the book. Review sessions help, but I had class every time they were held. She really will not teach you anything. Questions on test are not at all like the questions in class. This was the second time I had her and thankfully the last.

I took Gecon 200 and Econ 201 with her because she was an outstanding professor. In Gecon she understands that it's a General Education class and doesn't assume you already know much, which is good in econ. The grade was based entirely on tests, and she had good review sessions before the tests. If you test well, take her class.

This teacher was terrible. I failed her first 2/3 tests and asked if I should drop out. She told me since I went to every review session and sat in the front row that I could pull out with a C or better. Yeah I got a D. not cool.

U can get a tutor, but all of the questions are random and u have to know the concepts. She gives extra credit, but the average on tests is like 50-70avg

Her quizzes are extra credit only and can earn up to 10 pts on them. Not to mention she lets the class pick a quiz question to be on each test. 25 Questions Multiple choice and there is a review session after every class and before each test and quiz that make it hard not to do good. I sleep in class and do not read and I am managing a 75% somehow

Great teacher. Don't listen what others are saying. She is fair about her tests. We have 4 test including the final which are equally weighted. And the quizes we take don't count against your grade, but is Extra credit. If you really put time into studying you can get an A. If you slack off, consider getting a C- or D+.

If you speak russian you may be able to pull off an A in this class... During lectures nobody knows what she is saying... You have to go to the review sessions just to find out what is going on and what questions will be on the tests. She moves at an incredibly fast pace, although she does offer some extra credit.....

Hardest class I've taken at JMU thus far, but I worked my butt off and managed to pass. Dr. Rosser seems like a hard ass in class, but if you go to her office hours, it's like your sweet grandmother is trying to teach you economics. She's very worldly, knowledgeable, never boring. Go to her office hours! Study your tests. Go to TA study sessions.

dr rosser clarifies the book. if you read the book-- you will do well in the class. she shows you test questions beforehand and often gives you questions on the test. In between tests she gives extra credit quizzes to boost everybodys grades. She is interested in her students doing well. If you answer questions in class you get extra credit

If you're a math or business person, Rosser's not that bad. It's true you have to read, but the chapters aren't that long. If you just rely on her lectures you'll sit there very confused. Just do the reading and be a big girl/boy. and take advantage of the notecards and studyguides.

They are hard but she offers lots of extra credit and does share some test questions. Macro will be hard but if you like learning from books this is good.No hw or attendence

The class is hard, don't blow off the readings because that is how you will truly understand the material. Take notes while you read. Other than that, she knows the class is boring, she tries to liven in up by making jokes. No homework or attendance. 3 tests which are difficult, but gives extra credit quizzes that help a lot. Overall good teacher!

I liked this professor. The review sessions are very helpful, many test/ quiz questions are pretty much given away there. She offers ALOT of extra credit. The quizes are all extra credit, plus, if you answer a question in class, she will give you 4 extra credit points on the test. If you are a logical thinker, this class will not be bad.

Rosser is an awesome professor! Shes a very interesting person and her personality alone makes her class worth taking. The material isnt the easiest but she tries to make it go as well as possible. Use the study guide and read the text. 3 tests and quizzes offer you bonus pts. I would take a class with her again!

If you have taken MicroEcon before, you might be fine. I had not taken ECON before and it was extremely hard. While Dr. Rosser is hilarious, the information is barely covered in class if at all. Tests are very difficult. She does give extra credit if you receive 100's on the 10 question quizzes. If you do take her, make sure to buy the study guide.

She is nice and funny! She says some of the most interesting things about sex. I liked her and the material was very challenging but getting a study guide will help. She is approachable if you ever need help. I think the cheat cards were the best! Read the book and you will do fine! She is the best ECON teacher you will find.

She was a very funny person who does want you to succeed. However, she isn't the best teacher I have ever had. Micro is a tough class to begin with so it's unfortunate. She isn't terrible though. The way she grades is always in your favor. Take her or don't her it really depends on the other available teachers in my opinion.

Dr. Rosser is a great teacher and she awards extra credit all the time in class. She takes your best quiz grade and it becomes 20% of your final grade. Test can be somewhat tricky, but most of the time her practice set is very similar to the tests. Overall expect a B if you put in normal effort. An A is not impossible to get, but have to read to.

Dr. Rosser is a hilarious lady. Her sex jokes and innuendos always make the class laugh, which is good for a dry subject like economics. Her tests are hard, but she helps you out with extra credit quizzes.

Attendance is not mandatory. Lecture was not helpful. I did well in the class without attending ONLY because I read and highlighted the textbook and had an excellent Teacher's Assistant who held study PASS sections before quizzes and tests. Tests and the final exam are the only grades for this class.

You can do well in this class if you know how to study for it. Quizzes don't count against you, they only help your test grade if you score high enough on the quiz. She lets you have a half-sheet cheat card for each test. Easy to fall asleep though.

I got an A in this class only because I attended PASS sessions and taught myself.Allows for index card on each test (4 on final) in which i wrote all the information on. Extra credit quizzes before tests: 8/10 = 8% added on to test score!You will do well if you know how to study for the tests. Nice lady-Ive heard of worse teachers,I would take her.

Dr. Rosser is a great teacher. She knows that some of her students aren't super thrilled to be in class and so she'll make jokes or curse to keep everyone entertained and engaged. Study the book and take advantage of her allowance of "cheat cards." I'd also suggest sitting up front and trying to answer questions-this way she'll know you.

Rosser is amazingly intelligent and really knows what she is talking about. She does try to make the class interesting for everyone. Her lectures can be hard to follow and her tests are hard. You will have to work for a good grade, but you will learn a lot

Very funny professor, teaching style isn't the best but the class isn't too difficult. A little confusing when explaining some topics though, attend review sessions and you pretty much get the quiz/test though.

funny teacherwhich made class amusing. She has a thick Russian accent and sometimes forgets the word she is trying to say in English and replaces it with a Russian word. difficult class, but the amount of work you have to put into it is worth it. i got a B in the class, which is what i normally receive in COB classes

This is a hard class. Do not take it as a gen ed. However if you do take Prof. Rosser. The material is hard and boring but she is funny and keeps it interesting and though she has an accent she is easy to understand. She only grades four tests but she has quizzes before each one and whatever grade you get on the quiz it gets added to your test.

I honestly loved having Marina as a professor. She's incredibly funny and bases a lot of lectures off the textbook (which is short and easy to read). If you have her DEFINITELY go to the PASS review sessions that she has. I'm pulling a B in the class and I don't study much.

So here's the deal with Rosser's class: She's not a very good lecturer. She's funny and nice, though. The class, however works in your favor. You can use cheat cards for tests, the TA has review sessions every week and quizzes are extra credit. I'd actually recommend this class, even though showing up is pointless. The textbook is an easy read too.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER. She is very mean and does not make any sense when she lectures. If you take this class, which I highly recommend you don't, go to all the PASS sessions and try to read the textbook to teach yourself rather than listening to her. Lectures are boring and class is very hard in general. STAY AWAY!!!!

Professor Rosser is a funny and nice woman who really loves what she's teaching! She jokes in her lectures and you can't really understand her sometimes but she puts up the power points for you to go look over. PASS sessions are really helpful and she gives you so much extra credit to help boost your grade. I would definitely take her again!

Take this class. Dr. Rosser does not ask difficult questions on the tests and she gives a quiz before each of the 3 tests that are all extra credit counted towards the test. PASS sessions help a lot if you are struggling. If you are a business major TAKE THIS CLASS. It's not as hard as made out to be if you pay attention and read the book.

I love Dr. Rosser. This class is a challenge, no doubt, however she offers a lot of opportunities to improve your grade. The quiz grades are added to your test grade and she offers a lot of extra credit for make-up classes. She wants her students to succeed and keeps class interesting. I would highly recommend her!

I recommend her over other econ professors especially if you're a business major. If you are looking to take econ to fulfill the gened, TAKE SOMETHING ELSE. She is pretty funny, but sometimes her accent makes things difficult to understand. Quizzes/Tests aren't terrible, pass sessions really help. She is a VERY fair grader.

Absolutely horrible. Tried really studying a chapter before class. This was something I had already learned and given exams in and scored A's. Then I heard her explanations. Terrible. She narrates answers and points to the textbook. Do not take her.

Professor Rosser's class should be taken if you are into economics. The class is fun and she tries to give out good examples that relate to the material. Take extra credit when she offers it. She is an average professor but with an interesting personality.

She uses memorable examples in lectures, but you have to learn on your own too. Just watch videos and READ! I hated her at the beginning of the semester but was glad I had her at the end. She gives you plenty of opportunities to earn points, but you don't really have to take them. Be willing to step in front of the class if she asks for someone!

Worked really hard to get a B and only got one because she gave a bunch of bonus points and extra credit at the end of the semester. You don't need to go to class to pass, but sometimes the lectures are helpful.

Not a great professor but she's very knowledgeable and is willing to help you if you ask. If you want to pass her class go to the PASS sessions before testsquizzes and do all the readings. The book makes everything so much easier to understand. You'll have to work for a good grade but you'll learn a lot. Made me decide to minor in Econ.

I bet you're Ibus or econ. HAHAHAHAHAHA good luck. This class is a ton of work. Each week you have a 3 page paper due on a topic that isn't related to class material. You also have homework assignment due each class that you must do otherwise you can't take her tests. Also, you have to watch online lectures outside of class. Shes very unclear too.

Professor Rosser is the reason I even made an account. I want to make sure no other students sign up for her blindsided! She will go out of her way and try and trick students on HOMEWORK problems. (Ex. Saying she messed up on the homework review in class on purpose to make sure everyone was paying attention) Basically you can't even trust HW review

Grade is all exams. Exam 1, 2, and 3 are each 20 percent of your grade and the final is 40. All of them are hard. I read all the chapters and did most of the optional homeworks. Final grade? C. She did make the class interesting and was a good teacher but as someone taking this for a gened, it wasn't worth it.

Marina Rosser is the reason my GPA makes me want to cry. The first test we took I used the notes I took from her lectures and got a 61, the 2nd and 3rd I stopped going to class and strictly used the book... 84 on both. Long story short, her classes are pointless and she teaches nothing. Also, the final exam was ridiculous and everyone failed. :)

One of the hardest classes I've ever taken. Econ in general is tough material. She gives out A LOT of extra credit via Canvas and in class. Let's you have a small cheat sheet on tests. Everyone failed the second test and it completely ruined my grade. No HW but you need to read. Go to class, the lectures help and you sometimes get answers to tests.

4 Tests determine your final grade. The tests are difficult, and have small tricks that require test taking wit. If you want a business school worthy grade, you will need to do all extra credit opportunities. She gives out extra credit in class 75% of the time, and participation is key. Full effort course. High level thinking lectures.

I made a rate my professor account just so I could clear up the misconceptions of this professor. Dr. Rosser was one of THE BEST professors I have had at JMU. Her tests are difficult, don't get me wrong, however, she is beyond helpful and will explain things to you as many times as you need her to. I went to her office hours all the time.

Professor made the material very hard to understand (not just because of her thick accent). Econ is a hard subject in general, but she made the material very confusing often going on tangents that were not related to the content at all. Going to class was just confusing and she often used trick questions on the test. DONT TAKE!!!!!

Is completely clueless as a teacher. When you ask her a question, she deflects and tries to move around answering it because she doesnt know the answer. Honestly the worst teacher Ive ever had. So hard to learn anything because she doesnt know the material herself. Tries to play off lack of knowledge with constant jokes.
