Very clear and straightforward. Grades generously as long as the basic understanding is there. Tests are essay tests and the topics are published on the internet the night before. Exact Dates are not important in this class!
Loves his material. Teaches alot of black history. Dates are unimportant, but the story is very important. Very interesting, I hate history, but his class was great.
Nice teacher. Follow his directions, and get an A easyily.
Bennekin rocks. Do what he says, go to class, and joke around with him. He loves his subject matter, and also, I hated history before his classes. He does grade leniently as long as you follow his direction. He's awesome!!

If you in interested in US HISTORY do NOT take this class. However if you are interested in black history 1101 you'll do great.
This teach is very cool. I hated history when I first got in the class, and now I love history, because he makes it so much fun, and he test are a piece of cake!!!!!

Intimidating at first, but the best and most generous teacher EVER!! He's a teddy bear. Do take as much notes as you can so you can do good on his tests. I recommend him to everyone who needs to take history.

The first few class meetings/syllabus was intimidating but, easy after first test! I was in Honors and we had debates(which made typically boring topics interesting). Tape recorder is vital! Talks fast but, keeps it pretty interesting. EASY GRADER!!!!

Fantastic. He does go quickly, so bring a recorder and take notes. The exam tests where somewhat of a trial, but not impossible. Quizzes are 10 questions based on key terms.

He's a good teacher. You'll**** your pants the first 2 weeks of class and for the first test, but don't be fooled. Bring a tape recorder or you'll leave crying everyday. Funny guy. Only bad thing, he does not make the material interesting.
What a wonderful class! i was scared when i saw the syllabus, and found out that all the tests are essay, but then it just didnt seem so hard if you study a little bit, and i mean only a little bit, like 30 min a day.. I would recommend him to everyone! :)

not interesting at all. the class is pretty easy, but he gives no feedback on tests as to how to do any better.he has very strange assignments like an interview. tests are only 30 percent of your grade which makes knowing how you are doing in the class up to the final pretty much impossible.
Major HOTTIE! Bennekin is sexy! But, look out - his wife is a math teacher, and she gets jealous of all the girls checking out her hubby! Don't worry Mrs. B - we're just looking! Fun teacher! Tries to act mean - but he ISN'T.

Easy class, the hardest thing are the quizes which are based on the notes he gives in class.If you come to class and take notes you should get an A. If you know the Gods of egypt, and Julio- Cluadian line that would be a plus.
I brought my pc to type my notes while he rambled.It helped me a lot. Get a study group tog. and discuss the topics and you will do fine. I got an A in his class. Test are all essays. I actually learned a lot in his class. The notes, the discussions, and the essays glued the info to my head.
I wouldn't really recommend his class. You wil get lost during his lecture because he talks super fast. You can get a recorder but after a while you get tired of writing the notes all over again. His tests are only essays and he gives out the questions before hand. There are lots of quizzes but easy
He's a really nice guy, but his class can be boring sometimes. He is like a walking talking book, so bring a tape recorder. His tests are pretty easy if you pay attention in class. I would not reccommend missing any of his classes. His quizes are very easy if you study the notes!
This class takes more out of your time than it should. Must bring tape recorder because he talks so fast and then to get a A, go home and for 2-3 hrs. listen to tape recorder to write down exactly what was said in order to pass the quizzes and ESSAY tests! Its all way too time consuming believe me!!
if anyone doesnt pass his class with an A,there is definetly something wrong with him or her...you dont learn anything in his class because he talks or actually he reads too fast but he is very nice person..that is atleast more than enough for me as a student

Don't take his class. He is very unclear. He does not grade fairly. He is a nice guy, but he is not at all personable. I just took his final and it was rediculous.

Ok, he seems really scary but, he isn't. The final was really hard, but he obviously curved the grades. He is a very nice man.
Took this class in the summer and would not advise anybody to take his class. The final was way too difficult. We were not prepared at all.. too much weight went to the final. I went in with an A and dropped down to a B. I found the class very disappointing. I am an A-student.. my advise is to run for the hills...
his eassy tests are easy but quizes are very hard.not an easy A in the class.you have to work hard to do good.if you take the class make sure you know some body who is at least 55 years old because you have to take his interview for living history project and it takes a lot of time to finish.
he is different. he looks serious and is always late to class. his tests are not easy. there is too much info to be memorized before the test. he is unfair on grading but easy on the research paper. i wouldnt take him again

His lectures are not on the test or the quizes. Not only that but he lectures so quick and monotone that you can't focus on it any how. Quizes are HARD! Don't take unless you already have knowlege or histort b/c you won't learn it here.

Yes the lecture is boring. His test were in essay style. You had to choose which topic from his selection to write on. Quizzes were some what difficult. But if you study you should have no problem. Read Read Read when he says to Read. It will be helpful on the quizzes. I think he was an awesome teacher would take him again... :)
He is an odd teacher but I like him though. He scared the crap out of me the first days but if you stick with the class, you'll see that he is very easy.
what a crap proffesor, dont take him unless u either want a low c or a high f. He will load with THE paper and then with his essay exams he will finish u off. A mustn't take proffesor

he was a good teach. he was not opinionated, didn't politicize or put you down for not knowing an answer. No ego probs here. he was laid back. the lectures were boring but the discussion were great. I enjoyed how he played devil's advocate just to make us think. Hope he goes and gets his PHd. He seems hard at first but stick with it.
This professor was great. I see alot of people saying that Prof Bennekin gives hard quizzes, and that you have to reeeaaaallllyyy study to pass them. Well guess what people this is college. The purpose of his lectures is to give you information that is not in the book, that is the purpose of lectures people. Get a grip and do your work.

He is great. Little tip for quizzes: Use the websit companion. Also use this on the finals. Some of the questions were WORD FOR WORD! Listen to lectures and read and i promise a good grade. You may even learn something
Take notes, you dont even gotta study them, just write it down, you'll get a good grade. I looked out the window the whole semester and got an A.(the one in the corner with the bullethole in it)

AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!! I watched students drop out like flies. He is extrememly difficult and unhelpful. By the sheer grace of God I made an A, but I have never worked so hard for a class in my life!

World history class, very easy, extremely boring lectures, teacher is very monotone, he is geniuenly nice however, do not get worried about quiz grades, do good on the papers, and mid-term, and you should be fine! Bring a pillow, it is hard to stay awake sometimes.

Even if you have no interest in History, this guy can make it fun. As long as you show up to class (most of the time) and write the end of the semester paper, you'll pass and have a great time.

Take good notes for the bi weekly essays, start your 12 page research paper asap, and read the chapters for the tests, and you'll get an A. Comes off as a tough teacher but will go the extra mile for you. VERY fun lectures. TONS of charisma. FUN GUY! I didn't go along with all his personal views but respect him as a person and a teacher.A+ for him
cool teacher~ Lectures can be boring...the lesson taught is relevant to the tests and essays, but don't really have to take notes of what he says about the lessons b/c it doesn't really show up in the test. Curves grades A LOT! And open book for tests. Don't have to come to class, but would be good to b/c he changes the due dates some times.

He comes off as a Black rightous guy but history was about blacks! No big deal. He is by far the moe demanding teacher I've had but the grade curves has helped. I liked his debate topics because I learned more researching them than reading the book. Read, study & guess but guess well on tests. I don't dislike him at all. Hope to get Kinda Cool
His tests are open book but still difficult. LOTS OF PAPERS!! We had to write 3 papers plus a 10 page research paper. He is not THAT hard, but you have to have a lot of time to dedicate to his class. His lectures are of no use, just read the chapters and show up for the tests
Great guy, great class. Yes there is alot of work but he is very lenient. Papers are straight forward, lecture was somewhat unnecessary. What do you expect? Its college, the people below need to remember they are in a college level course. Take him, work semi-hard and you'll pull off a B+, as did I.
He's great. Start your final research paper early, study the quizes that he posts online for the exams and you'll do well. I have a solid B in the class. He's cool and will help you out if you talk to him.
here's the bottom line. if you want to take a class and pass take him. but if you actually have an interest in history then stay away. the class is easy to pass, but you learn nothing

The class moves very slow, you just take notes from his lectures (where he reads from his notes). He will curve the grades for tests and quizzes and your research paper is very easy to get an A. The class overall is not fun but you can get an easy B, an A is difficult though.

i was kind of shaky about him at 1st but he definitely grew on me. he's a really good teacher, know's his material. gives quizzes over the readings. really straight forward about what he expects from you. guaranteed A if you read the book when he assigns chapters, complete the focused essays, and the research paper. overall he's a great professor!
This dude is cool. He can be funny when he wants to be. Yes he is very monotone and fast, but if you missed something just ask him to repeat it. Loves giving essays, we are still not sure if he reads them cause almost everybody have the same grades. Quizzes and tests are not hard if you study. The tests questions are from the previous quizzes.
Great college level class lecture style. Covers alot of material and is very fair with the grading. Essays are interesting and helps for reviewing the text information. Definately will take more of Prof. Bennekin's classes.

Professor Bennekin is a good teacher overall. He prepares his lessons well and grades fairly easily. He curves his tests which helps a ton in history! He is the best history teacher on campus-period!
Extremely good teacher. he makes history very interesting. i am a history major and he made me love history even more than i had before. he grades fairly easy.All notes and grades online. there is a huge term paper but as long as you do what he asks then it is easy. GREAT TEACHER! I wasn't much of a history lover but now I am. Gives extra credit through debate & curves some tests. Posts everything in ICollege which is very helpfull. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!

Great Professor. he really loves teaching and history. he is very generous with his grading and he is more than happy to answer any questions. there were some online quizzes and a few essays. there is a midterm a couple of tests and a final.
Not sure why everyone raves about him. I don't feel like I learned anything and I got a very high A. If you don't care about learning history and just want the grade he is good to take.

This professor makes the material really easy to understand!! His notes are much more organized than the book... Im a Non-Native and I easily learned the history even though I hadn't heard any of it before. Online quizes are very easy, Couple of essays and 1 major Research Paper, gives enough time though.
Diffrent style of teaching than im used too, but knows his stuff. He has dry humor and makes the class interesting. as far as grading goes he is very liniant and all though his test and quizes are hard he does apply a generous curve. I did learn in his class and like anything it depends on yyou how much you learn.pay attention and youll be fine
I took this guy last year for my world history class and i got an A so i decided to take him again for my U.S history last semester and i also got an A+. He is very easy w great notes dat help a lot for the quizzes and test which r easy too! Take him for an A. He also curves alot n i mean alot
I don't understand why people say he's so great. His hybrid History part 2 class is completely unstructured and you can't get him to help you out. He is lazy, takes forever to post grades, and overall just doesn't teach. This is supposed to be college, and I know we aren't supposed to be spoon fed, but he does NOTHING! Frustrating! Take Simson.
If you've ever watched Family Guy, Bennekin is like Cleavland Brown. His class is easy, but it's difficult to get help from him because I don't think he wants to be there anymore than we do. He's one of the laziest professors and that's sort of funny. We've gotten 100s on essays that he forgot to grade. Just attend and stay awake and you'll do fine
Easy. Curve is crazy. My final grade was 107 because of the curve. If you want an easy A, he is there for you. Don't expect to get any help from him tho. he gets mad if you ask for help.
Bad!He is not nice at all. I don't think you can get any help from him. He enjoys when students do not know what to do in his class.His class is so boring. Some classmates and me want sleep in class. There are 12 quizzes in total, 60% in the test, but he never return the quizzes back to you so you won't know the answer that clear. He uses turnitin.
Overall its an easy class, the only problem I have with him is that he never replies to your emails and takes ages to grade your work. He'll say he will do something, but never does it. If you're a person who needs extra help from a professor, he is not the one for you. Again this is an easy class, and he curves the test grades.
Mr. Bennekin is quite a guy. Bold sense of humor. His 8:30 class got longer as the semester drew near the end. Gives generous grades. Forgets to get some grades posted. Essays or the main issue with waiting on grades. Easy class. Show up and take notes and pay attention and you'll get an A.

Easy class. Prof Bennekin is one of the laziest prof I have ever seen, but he gave generous grades. You definitely learn something about history with him. The lecture is hilarious. No textbook needed, so don't waste your money to buy it.
Great professor, many extra credit, and clear grades. He has power points for studying. It's very important to attend the class because all the tests comes from his notes plus the book. If you care about your GPA take him for the class.
Mr. Bennekin is a good guy. He is really funny and chill but his class is mostly lectures so sometimes it does get a little boring. He wants all of his students to pass. He is a really busy guy though so some of the work we did never got graded and its hard to reach him out of class.
One of the kindest, most understanding professors at GSU Perimeter. I would take his class a thousand times and feel like I learned something new each time. He his sarcastic- in a good way, and he's always willing to go into detail if you don't understand the topic. I highly recommend professor B!
