Very easy if you do the HW. Even the extra credit on the tests come from the HW. So far I have over 100% in the class. Grade is over 90% on 5 tests. Rest is homework, attendance, and participation. A stickler for attendance---will dock you points for continued tardiness and absences.

I loved this class. It is really easy if you do homework. The tests are straight forword. not picky at all. and this class is fun. If you take his class, you wiil never be bored. His class is the best ~!!!

A rare gem of a math professor, Martinez is genuinely concerned about his students and will go out of his way to help you (office hours, always tells you your grade, etc). Puts a lot of effort into making statistics interesting, but doesn't dumb down the material. It's not surprising that even his 9am Saturday morning class fills immediately.

I went into this class set to hate it. Prof. Martinez has a great sense of humor which made the class fun. It was a lot of information to take in over six weeks and it was a lot of work, but Prof's own enthusiasm for the class and participative experiments made it a class I actually enjoyed. I took Martinez for Math 20 and Math 52. He was great! He teaches the material very well and makes it easy to understand. He is funny and makes the class very entretaining even thou the topic is Math.

I took Intermediate Algebra 3 times in High school and barely passed. I am NOT a math person. I didnt understand math until I took Prof. Matinez's class. He was so clear and really taught methods I could understand. Show up to class, do the homework and take advantage of the extra credit he gives.

Solid teacher, overall. He made us create a binder composed of notes, test, quizzes, h.w etc... which he checks when ever he collects the h.w packets which is on test days..the notebook comes handy for final as its like a math book in your own words useful seems to have a short patience at time seems to brag about his statics class at times

Tough class but manageable. The lectures go by fast and make sure to take good notes. He explains everything very clearly but it is up to you to do the work. Not an easy A. Make sure to keep up with the homework, test questions are usually from the homework and test questions. 4 Tests, 4 Homework packets, 1 Final. Nice guy and a good math teacher.

I hate math, but Martinez definitely made the subject less painful for me. I was thankful to have him as my professor for statistics

Mr. Martinez does scim through the assignments pretty quick, but if you don't understand something he wont move on until you do. He provides plenty of opportunities for you to get extra credit. Overall he is pretty good as an instructor.

Mr. Martinez is a cool guy and a pretty good teacher in general. Explains his work as he teaches the math, answers any questions on any parts you do not understand. Homework is a must, and STUDY/PRACTICE before every one of his quizzes or exams. You will do fine, if you do not understand something, he lets take time out to help you understand.

Got an A. Gave 1 E.C. Lets you use a half page of notes (cheatsheet) for tests 2,3,4. HW is a MUST. Sometimes he takes questions from the hw for his tests. As long as you pay attention in class and do the HW, gettin an A is no problem.

Very funny and easy class

Even as school became extremely stressful towards the end of the semester, I still came to his class with great pleasure! His teaching method is phenomenal! He also does fun in class experiments...one time we did an experiment with m&m's...MMhMMM MMhMM good!! my fav experiment..especially when we got to eat them..lol

I thought his class was straightforward, but that is just me. Others are not in good in math so... it could be diffrent. Hoever, he is the best I know who can explain things effectively, consistently. A good teacher overall. Ask questions, he is eager to answer them. Some questions in his test are tricky because he didn't go over in class. Test and quiz is on the second part of the class; he will teach new stuff before the test. The practice exam will only go over during the SI session, so make sure you attend it.Quiz are easy. He give you partial points even you get the answer wrong. Lots of extra credit!!

How I got an A in Stats when I'm terrible at Math: read the chapter b4 his lecture, attended his weekly workshop (he hands out sample test problems, some are actually on the test!), did all the homework and studied every day, turned my homework in neatly, did all the extra credit. He's a great instructor, but put your cell away during classtime!

He is the best for statistics. At first I was really scared of stats since everyone I knew hated the class. But he made it easy for us and honestly dumed it down for us to understand. Easy to get an A if u do all the hw an study. Oh and he gives out extra credit which really helps along with grading hw.

Best MATH PROFESSOR EVER! Statistics might seem scary & never being good at word problems, I feared ths class. However, I believe he has developed an exact science to his teaching method. Mr Martinez is an excellent teacher. He knows his stuff crystal clear and loves to help students who are desperate to learn more than just to pass the class. Hilarious. He's so funny and making stats soooo much fun. Although its a two hour class over fall, his classes felt extremely short. I wish I could take him everyday. His exams are pretty hard, but this is statistics. If you study hard and go to his math workshops, you will pass the exams. His gives out study guides ONLY at his workshops.

Math 54, Statistics, is a very hard class. However Mr. Martinez made it very fun and easy. I got a "D" on my first test, but got an "A" on the last test and the final. I am very happy.

Heard stats was a difficult class, however Professor made it super easy and. For me this class was a breeze, just had a ton of homework, but other than that its a piece of cake. He makes the tests very straight forward, and tons of extra credit on the test and if u participate. If your shy then get out ur comfort zone, professor will reward for it.

Statistics is a difficult subject for those who do not have a good history with math. Took his scholars section. Doing homework is a must (and theres a lot), without it dont expect to do well. A lot of the hw problems arent fully explained in class but youre still expected to know how to do them. His labs are a must, gives you an in depth study guide if you attend. A nice guy who gives lots of EC in class so show up!

Martinez has one of the most unique laughs I've ever heard and you'll get to hear it often because he's a really funny guy. His lectures are animated and he teaches the material very well. Professor Martinez helped me gain back confidence in math. He's helpful and wants his students to succeed, do the homework and go to the workshops. He gives amazing lectures and his laugh is literally the best thing in the world. Take him if you have the chance!

His laugh is something that kept the class going. Hes funny and a great professor. Go to his work shops and study those packets its basically the test. Math is hard so youll definitely need to study. Professor Martinez is one of the rare professors that wants to see his students succeed. No tricks on exams or petty deductions of points. He is very GIVING and you can get an A, even if you struggle with math, because he allows calculators, show you how to use them, and give you a study guide just before the exam that is 95% similar to the exams!

the best professor out there. he is so caring and tries hard to make the class fun. lots of extra credit given out, but still go to his workshops, he gives study guides that are exactly like the test just different numbers. I failed every math before this class but i worked hard and enjoyed his class. also, his laugh is the best

I never wanted to take math online, but he made it work and was very accommodating. If you arent good with test taking, I recommend not taking this class bc it takes 45% of your grade. He offers a lot of extra credit so take advantage!

The material is VERY difficult if you space out and try to learn it on your own. Don't follow the textbook bc it needs to be a certain way. He records all of the lectures so that you can go back and study but don't rely on those bc they may not be posted. All tests are proctored. Lots of extra credit offered. Recommend but b ready to pay attention!

The material is pretty difficult but Professor Martinez does a great job explaining the topics in a way that is easy to understand. Your grade is weighed very heavily on tests so you need to study a lot! However, the homework is almost identical to the test which is super helpful. This class is very hard and demanding but an A can be accomplished.

Math 54 itself is a difficult class but Professor Martinez makes it so so so much better. I would really recommend all to take him. He gives great feedback and if you go to his office hours and his math labs he really takes notice. People who complain just aren't using all the resources and tools he has to offer.

The class itself is very hard! but is worth it because he cares about his students and math :D He will help you in any way you need but you must show effort. I would definitely recommend him and suggest to only take stats and don't add any other classes. Also, The tutors are very helpful and take advantage of them!

God bless this dude. One of the most caring teachers I have ever met who genuinely wants his students to succeed. Just by the nature of the material taught, the class is not easy. That being said, he is extremely knowledgeable in statistics and teaching. If you put in the work, show up to class, and participate he will reward you. Deserves a raise!

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER TAKEN! I have never had such a fair teacher in my entire life. He gives a lot of extra credit for participating in class and he is just such a kind human. His tests and final are very fair and he has a workshop that goes over practice problems for exams. Prof Martinez is EXTRAORDINARY. This class isn't easy but he cares! Read the text book, DO THE HOMEWORK, write & rewrite notes, utilize the math tutors, attend pre-exam reviews, practice what you missed on your graded exams - all till you recognize equations needed for each type of problem & can solve w/out notes & you should do well.

I highly recommend taking statistics with this professor because HE IS THE BESTTT. He cares about the class alot. Do all the homeworks and keep up with the lectures and A is guarantee. Best professor in Smc.

I took Scholars Math 54 for the Fall semester and really enjoyed the class. As someone who doesn't enjoy math and isn't really good at it, Professor Martinez made the content interesting. His jokes are hilarious too! Although the amount of content and homework was overwhelming at first, he kindly helps you during office hours and is a fair grader.

Loved Professor Martinez's class! The work was challenging, especially since math isn't my strength, but his support and encouragement made all the difference. He genuinely cares about his students and always believed in my potential, which motivated me to push through. One of my favorite professors of all time!

I really enjoyed Professor Martinez's class. He was really funny and made understanding the material easier because of the connection he had with the class. The class was definitely hard at times but he gives you so many opportunities to get extra credit. Highly recommend taking his class.

Fun class and he teaches thoroughly, answering all questions. He does teach very fast, but his office hours are helpful and there's workshops every week going over questions exactly like exams. Group project was fun, and he gives lots of extra credit. Rounded my grade from 89% to 90%. As long as you study and review you'll pass easily

Mr. Martinez is a very nice and caring professor. Professor Martinez made stats very fun, engaging and easy to understand. He does teach to fast but if you go over the class notes, practice the math problems and join the practice exams review you will be fine. The class is hard but with hard work you'll pass.
