He is a great Professor! only take 3 exams for the semester. He tells you what is on the test and they are all on his power points. If you study what he goes over in class you will pass the class and get high grades. He does give homework almost every week but all answers are in the book. Doesn't teach the full 2 hours and you will pass if you go.
A great teacher who cares about his students
Dr. Tomei is truly an exemplary professor in my opinion. Highly knowledgeable, passionate, and dedicated. I was both amazed and inspired by his love of teaching, which was quite evident to all of the students in the class. His in depth expertise of the topic and interactive teaching style kept my interest and made learning fun! Thank you doc!
Dr. Tomei is an exceptional professor who genuinely cares about the success of his students. He is a wealth of knowledge and is very laid back. I would highly recommend taking any course you can with him. You do NOT need the textbook.
Dr. Tomei is undeniably a talented person - he's knowledgeable, he's laid-back, he's nice to us. But he just read straight off the slides - which he got from the textbook company. He only took attendance on the first day of class. Most if not all of what I learned had to be self-taught.
great for lab. tells you what you need to know for the practicals. only downside is hes easy, almost too easy where you dont learn and will have to teach yourself later on. easy A. always available to help you.
He is a great man! Great professor! don't listen to the bad comments. He truly wants all his students to pass and is willing to help you any time! He's funny and gives a good understanding of the notes in lecture. He only teaches you what you need to know. Nothing extra. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
As long as you study and listen to what he says in class you will do fine! he makes his test from the text book test bank! study the slide and take notes on the other things he says in class and you will pass! I had him for 2 semesters and I passed with good grades. if i could take him for every subject i would!
He is a great professor! Gives a good understanding for the material needed. Something need to be self taught.
best professor ever! is so understanding and helpful it's crazy. he wants everyone to pass so he tries working in everyone's favor. he is always willings to set time aside to help his students. definitely would take again!
Very caring person. he make class interesting and fun.
I loved this class, he was anamzing, funny teacher. He was accesible outside on classroom and gave homework to help boost the grades. always gaves curves. very caringand doesnt want anyone to fail. he helps out for the test, he sits in front of the class goes through it and gives and outlined to us for it.
I only had him for lab and i wish i had him for lecture. He told us exactly what going to be on the practical and lets us leave an hour or more earlier. He's really funny and his tests are fair and easy if you study. Definitely try to get him for anatomy!!!!
Great Prof who truly cares about his students success.
The class itself is a very boring class. However Dr. Tomei does his best with the material and makes it as easy as he could. He tells you exactly what to study for the exams and takes the questions from the test bank, while making sure you actually understand the material!
amazing professor.. professor tomei genuinely wants his students to pass and will clearly explain everything that is needed for this course. best professor ive ever had
graded only by the three tests- no hw. class is boring but he emails a list of exactly what to study for tests. lets you out of class early 30-90 minutes early its unreal. if you laugh at his jokes, participate, and sit in the first/second row he bumps you if you're on the edge of two grades. I was on the edge of a A- and A- he gave me an A.
Dr. Tomei is good in the sense that he will make the class easy to pass. He gives 3 tests and he averages them with the 3 lab practicals and drops the lowest one. He has very long PowerPoints but narrows down what to study. Most of his tests come from the testbanks. I just dont feel like I learned that much to prepare me for A&P II.
Prof. Tomei was okay. He just read through the PowerPoints, which were all about 150 slides at least. Very boring, but he made the class fairly easy to do well in. He gives a small list of what you actually need to know for the test. Did not feel like I learned much but I didn't have a problem doing well.
I read his reviews and was excited to take his class but was unfortunately disappointed. He just reads off the slides quickly and is often unclear, he won't tell the class when the next test is or when a case study is due. The first test he gave our class a lot failed cause he told us to only study certain material yet tested us on everything.
He works with you
He truly cares about his students
Tough professor but very fare and caring
He's very funny and nice, but I feel like I didn't learn much in patho. The test questions are much harder than what is taught in class. He tells you what topics are on the test, but the test ends up having much more on them. If you take this class, make sure you study far in advance for the tests.
Be prepared to teach yourself, just reads off slides. Grade is based on three test only.
Great GUY bottom line. He works with u and actually cares if you dont do well in his class. Easy guy to talk to, always has his door open. I would love to take him again. Dr T your great!!!!!!!!!
THE ABSOLUTE BEST! Dr. Tomei is always available outside of class to help anyone who may be struggling. Patho isn't an easy class but he really cares that his students do well. His tests aren't easy but they prepare you well for harder classes nursing students must take later on. Consider yourself lucky if you have him as a professor.
Patho with Tomei was definitely a challenge and probably one of the most hardest courses I've taken. I would study 2 weeks ahead of time and still feel clueless when taking his exams . I recommend going to his office hours weekly and he'll try helping you out. He said textbook isn't required but I would buy it.
Best professor!!!!!!
THE BEST GUY! It's a difficult course to begin with but he makes it fun, tells great stories, is really funny and manages to make the lecture fly by. He is always available outside of class to help those who need it and he grades pretty leniently. He wants you to do well so if he see's you putting in the effort he will boost you up. Best Prof!
THE BEST!!!! he is caring, accessible outside of class. Very clear on grading criteria, will help you and the test has no surprises. He is an MD and will be able to clarify any questions. No textbook needed. Deff would take him again. If you study and put in effort you will get a good grade tests are moderately hard
Prof. Tomei is chill, a people person and I would definitely take him again. He doesnt leave any expectations a mystery which is the BEST kind of Professor because then youre always prepared. He grades us by 4 exams. Hes available outside of class and goes over exams! Exams were multi. choice, you can go over your study material with him too.
He does drawl on during lecture, often says "You'll learn this in Patho,Pharm, etc". But good professor, only 3-4 exams (outline by email), no hw, very caring, and funny. Study his slides, ask questions, take advantage of his office hours, and you'll be fine. He does plug in stories which are interesting, sometimes confuses this class w/ his Patho
Tomei is a great professor. He is very smart and will help you understand concepts. His tests are tough, he wants us to get ready for clinical style questions. He is always available to help.
Tomei is an amazing knowledgable professor who also is a doctor himself and teaches based of the NCLEX. He teaches a lot of material and is very good at teaching his students how to assess patients based off their symptoms and how to diagnose quicker. His exams can be tough but if you study what he says and his reviews, then you'l easily pass
His tests are absolutely ridiculous and he is constantly misspeaking during lecture between saying the wrong word or the wrong information. Test questions are misleading and ask about content not taught in lecture, and barely memorable from the textbook. Curves generously but I really just don't enjoy the way he runs his class. GET THE BOOK
Dr. Tomei is a chill dude and is always willing to help, but patho was stressful. He was constantly rushing and making mistakes when lecturing. He would ask very specific textbook questions and ridiculous clinical questions with multiple correct answers. I thought he was trying to trying to trick us on tests and that he could have curved them more.
Had him for patho definitely a great teacher very knowledgeable. Straightforward Professor. Memorization is key in taking this class.
He tells you what is going to be on the exam and his lecture Powerpoints are all posted on Moodle. You have 3 exams for this class and no quizzes.
Dr. Tomei is an amazing professor, but he is very tough. I took him for Pathophysiology and your grade is based off of 4 exams and a case study. He makes his exams very clinically based, which makes them difficult, but he really wants you to learn and understand the material very well. Pay attention and look over the powerpoints and youll be ok.
Prof. Tomei is a very fair professor, there are four exams and he curves the exams depending on the class average. However, his class is strictly lecture and you need to show up to class because he goes over a lot if you miss a class you basically missed half of what will be on the exam. This class requires intense studying.
Best professor ever
Honestly one of the best professors at Adelphi and super sweet. He truly wants to see his students succeed and will always help you out.
Patho wasnt easy. No textbook needed, most info is on his slides. Some questions on final werent on his PowerPoints but he curves grades based on how the class does. He tells you what to study. 4 exams with case studies for each
Dr. Tomei is an amazing professor! Very clear of what will be expected for you to know on the exams and there's no homework. He really cares for his students and you can tell he really wants us to succeed! 100% would recommend!
The most caring professor that wants to see his students pass and do well. Human A&P2 is already heavy itself, but he explains everything so well. Very respectful and is accessible outside of class. Goes over what will be covered on each exam and gives case studies to help ur grade. HE'S GREAT!!!!
3 tests, 1 final, and 8 case studies spread out throughout the semester. Before each test he does a detailed review of the material in class, STUDY THIS! It definitely reflects the test. During the review write down what he says, then study these topics using the textbook. He's also very accessible outside of class! Tomei is great, good luck!!
Took Prof Tomeis a&p II course in the summer in 6 weeks. He was very clear in teaching the material and always available for questions. Easy to reach through email. Before the test he gives a full review of exactly what the test will be on. He really cares about his students and wants everyone to do well!! Greatest Professor!! Highly recommended!
Amazing professor! So fun to go to class. Beyond the requirements for the class, he pulls up A&P review which is really helpful for transfers and students that haven't been in school. Pay very close attention to his review (cannot emphasize this enough!) Super helpful and approachable, gives you good feedback. Such a fun, engaging lecturer!
Best professor at Adelphi hands down. He cares about his students unconditionally and really wants you to pass. Pathophysiology was my all time favorite class because of Dr. Tomei. Hes very knowledgeable and I highly recommend you have him. Critical thinking and memorization is key to passing pathophysiology. Youll do great !
Professor Tomei is 100% an amazing professor. He is extremely dedicated to making sure his students are taken care of, and his lectures were never boring. Before exams, he also goes over a list to make sure his students know what will be on the exam. 10/10.
Please if you are a nursing student, or any kind of medical student in general, take this class. It is pretty much an overview of A&P, but we went over the medical terminology for each body system. Graded on exams and case studies, he gives you what topics will be on the exam. AND attendance was not mandatory (plus he canceled to go golfing a lot)
Had him for patho. Test was nothing like the lectures, had NCLEX level questions when we learn the basic information. Lectures were very fast paced and ended class in half the amount that we were slotted to have. But, very laidback and chill professor.
He's an easy professor, but don't really expect to learn much. You're there for a grade, but in terms of pre-professional exam preparation, you're better off with a different professor. He has good practical experience in his field which is helpful though
He is an okay Professor, I don't think he lives up to the hype. He runs through lectures and finishes like 30 minutes early. He does a review before each exam, but he adds stuff he didn't teach to the review for you to remember. His exams are hard but most of his questions are on Moodle. I guess he's the best option, but would not take again.
Tomei is a very nice and respectful man. He wants his students to succeed, he's very funny and tells stories in class, lets you out like 45 minutes early a day. However, he reads off the slides, and what he "teaches" in class is not on the exams. He does a "breakdown" before each exam that has info that we never learned.. this class was annoying
Very understanding and helps the students
He cares about his students
very informative
He's great has the students interests at heart
love Tomei, he's such a sweet prof and has students best interest in mind
Textbook isn't necessary. He had a lot of enthusiasm and he was fair by curving test scores while giving an accurate study guide on what will be on the test. However, he didn't explain topics enough and the PowerPoints weren't made by him. I didn't learn much but he is very reliable when it comes to any questions you may have outside of class.
Love this man. Take him if you can!!
at home online exams. runs through what will be on the exam. lets you out of class early. multiple choice exams. very easy. highly recommend taking him.
He flies by the material but he mainly only focuses on the stuff that'll be on the exam. His exams are online but they're lockdown browser, not bad they're also all multiple choice. He's a really fun professor, he lets you out early I definitely recommend him.
I loved prof. Tomei!! He knows what he's talking about. He does fly through slides and we get out so early all the time but he covers the most important things to know during lecture. he cancels class often but he is an ER doctor so he is very knowledgeable and answers emails quickly. Exams are online and you get a few days to complete it. TAKE HIM
I cant say enough good things about Dr. Tomei. He goes through material fast but he really focuses on the important stuff during lecture. with that being said, we get out super early!! He makes class fun and he is a very knowledgeable professor. Highly recommend Dr. Tomei. One of the best professors here at adelphi
I am so happy to have taken this class!! Dr. Tomei went over all the essentials from each lab chapter and would even use what he's seen in the field as stories to make students understand. I enjoyed his class because he made it easy for us to understand and would give us study guides to make sure students study the right material. Highly recommend!
LOVE Tomei! Literally my favorite professor I've had at adelphi. He is very clear in lecture on what is necessary information and most important. There's an end of semester quick presentation that wasn't bad at all. Tests were super easy because he reviews and explains exactly what info will be on the exams. Very understanding & just great overall!
Professor Tomei was amazing for Patho. I really enjoyed his class and he made everything so interesting. His test did seem to get harder as the semester went along but he prepares you well for them beforehand with a study guide. He is so nice and super helpful! I would highly suggest taking him. I learned SO much in his class!
I had Tomei for Pathophysiology and he was great! I had this class once a week but he kept the lectures very short and right to the point. Four tests and four case studies to make up your grade. He is always available through email or office hours. He also teaches a bunch of other courses. Definitely take him!
i took tomei for ap1, 2 and patho. Honestly, not bad but not my favorite. runs through lectures so quickly and pretty much reads off slides. But he always does an exam breakdown with the topics you need to know which is super helpful! Great for patho but just okay for A&P.
the love I have for this professor is unmatched. he is by far one of my FAVORITE professors at Adelphi. BIO 181 is an easy A class but any class that Tomei teaches is an easy A. He is so laidback, real with the students, and knowledgable. I learn a lot from his classes. He cancels class often but always makes sure we understand the main points.
Professor Tomei is amazing. He cancels class often and runs through PowerPoints but that's because he focuses on the important stuff. Take him you won't regret it
Professor Tomei is by far my favorite professor! His lectures are so engaging and he uses real life examples he has experienced to create such a cool connection form what we are learning to the actual world. If i could I'd honestly take this class over and over again! TAKE HIM!!!!
so easy to work with, love him! easy class, tells you whatever you get tested on, and only teaches what is necessary.
Professor Tomei is AMAZING, his lectures are very relaxed, and he even dismisses the class early most of the time. He jokes around a lot and keeps everyone smiling. The homeworks are super easy but the exams are a bit difficult. As long as you study the slides u will be fine. However, I would HIGHLY recommend taking professor Tomei.
easy A, but you wont really learn much with his lectures. he just reads off the slides and tells stories, and tell you what will be on the tests, which were all online.
Dude is actually really cool and clearly passionate about what he does. He tends to ramble and read off the slides a lot; however, that's to be expected with a medically applicable class. Two tests and a presentation and tells you exactly what topics are going to be on the test. Overall, if you want to get an A and get out, take his class.
Honestly, I will be taking him again in patho. He is genuinely so caring and he gives plenty of curves to help you out. Everything on his slides are basically the test and watch the videos!! His examples are hilarious that you remember it for the tests which is so nice. He is genuinely such a good teacher and funny. Take him for a good lab grade.
Professor Tomei is genuinely a great professor and cares about his students. Although the exams are a little difficult if you follow what he tells you and study you will be fine. He is very understanding and if you email he will respond. I would recommend taking his class.
Great professor. Very chill and collective. 4 tests and case studies. Tests can be hard but he goes over what's on them. Attendance is not mandatory as time goes, but I would recommend cuz he tells u what u need to know and what u don't need. Goes over all tests and is available outside of class, definitely taking him again in the future.
Professor Tomei is a great professor and gives very fair practicals, not the type of professor to test on useless things. Very respectable professor.
Professor Tomei was a good instructor. I didn't retain much information from his lectures but he's pretty funny. His exams can be on the harder side, but he informs students of which topics to focus on which is extremely beneficial because patho is a heavy class in general. Aside from the four tests, there are case studies as grade boosters.
Okay Professor. My school is obviously not a priority. He has canceled majority of the semester, and he is teaching Anatomy and physiology. Very fast. The class is supposed to be from 5-8, we leave at 6. I'm basically teaching myself.
WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND!!!!! He barely showed up for lectures. When he did, he rushed through a 150+ slides. I did not learn anything in his class. He gives study guides and his exams are online but the study guides aren't accurate. Ensure you do well in lab if you wanna pass A and P.
This professor taught some lessons and provided review sheets, but the exams did not reflect anything written on the review sheet. BEWARE: the final grade for the class is based on three exam scores and only 10% homework. If you want to have a stress-free experience and no worries about your degree, do not take this prof. You will regret it!
Honestly he's pretty decent. But barely shows up for class cancels class last minute. But he responds to emails fast he helps you if you need It . Exams are online. he rushes through slides like we have no time it honestly doesn't help with learning. I recommend getting a tutor or studying with a group for his class. Good luck!!
Honestly a great professor. Very knowledgeable about Patho and condenses the information to focusing on just the important things. Class ends in about an hour or so. the tests are online
He was a mid teacher. He constantly cancelled class and when we did have class he would rush through the slides which honestly made it hard to grasp everything. His exams are online
Barely showed up to class, when he did he went way too fast, tests are brutally unfair and they are the only thing you get graded on. HW boosts your grade though. He's a funny guy but its pretty clear he either doesn't know how to teach or doesn't care. Either way, I'd look for someone else for Patho, this guy isn't it. Find someone who shows up.
One of the laziest professors at Adelphi. He could not care less about your success in the class, and cancels lecture every chance he gets. He doesn't respond to emails and isn't available to meet for office hours. Grading categories on Moodle are not set correctly. So many assignments that don't even count towards your grade. DO NOT TAKE
He's not a bad teacher he just seems to be overworked, he teaches at a pretty fast pace but he does reviews before each test. Make sure to write down everything he says during the reviews, it really helps. He does cancel class a lot but he's always available for office hours even through zoom and he responds to emails really fast.
Love him he's amazing had him for anatomy 1 lecture, anatomy 2 lab and patho. Got A's in all. His stories help info stick. You have to study outside of class cuz he flies through slides but if you don't mind doing that he's wonderful. Cancels class a lot but again if you study on your own time his slides you're fine
Prof Tomei is honestly such a fun and chill guy. He makes A&P 1 actually so fun and interesting and wants us to be prepared for the NCLEX. I'm taking him again next semester because he makes everything so easy to understand. He ends class early which is a plus. Take him if you can!
Had him for both lab and lecture. He goes extremely fast so you might wanna record when he reviews for exams. Ends class super early everytime. Lab practicals can be difficult so make sure you study a LOT. Overall I'd say take him, he doesn't test on unnecessary material.
He is a really funny professor and he connects a lot of topics to his experiences working as an MD, which was nice. I took him online and let me warn you, his tests are NOT easy. They are NCLEX styled questions. He does do reviews, which were really helpful. Just make sure to stay on top of lectures and review the material and you should be okay!
