She needs things done her way and it reflects in her tough grading. Gave lots of work and she had this class 3 days a week! (WTF)
One of the most un-helpful, most un-flexible professors I've ever encountered. I actually extended my graduation 1 year so I wouldn't have to deal with her again. avoid.
She is a horrible teacher. Her test are nothing like her notes and they are unfair. She expects you to know the work inside an out even if you are on a computer science major. Stay away from her.
good professor - you need to listen in her class, bc she expects you to understand. otherwise - a very nice person, and will help you if you ask.
Horrible. Beware! She is an expert at reproaching her students. "If you dont do your homework, you wont pass the course" - and she repeats that every single class.
Dr. Berger was one of the best professors that I had. She is so smart and can explain difficult concepts. I think people don't like her b/c she gives alot of homework, but that is how you learn. I really enjoyed her classes.
Do not take Prof. Berger for anything! She is a smart lady but cannot communicate with other humans. She gives lots of homework and very hard tests. And she even grades homework! Everyone in my class was doing horribly, i passed barely with a D-.
She knows her stuff, but doesn't explain it well. Also, she has no problem embarrassing you in front of the entire class. I was looking down at my notebook and she accused me of sleeping and asked me to leave. The whole class was staring at me. Not cool..
i don't understand anything that she says to me and that sucks because i feel like i am failing. i really wish that she would say more about our actual labs but she doesn't.
Good math professor but very demanding. She expect you to know almost everything. Not good prof of comp sci. Very hard and not so clear. If u want to be challanged in math and are willing to work hard, you may take her for math. Not comp sci
cout << "AVOID HER--VERY HARD CLASS." <<endl;
Definetly avoid. Begins easy and then starts ripping through the book at a speed that only a few students can keep up with.
Dr. Berger is a fine professor who knows "The Pre Calculus" very well. However, she is an unfair grader. She grades hw and often only chooses 4 out of 20 problems making them 25 pts a pop. Tests are equally unfair having only 6 questions.
Her testing procedures are a horrible waste of paper.
Very hard grader. Doesn't put things in simple terms for you to understand. Expects you to know her vocabulary without ever actually teaching it to you.
Dr. Berger is amazing. She does move at a fast pace, tests can be difficult, but she is so willing to help students...and there is so much xtra help you cant go wrong. if u did GOOD in previous math req. courses you should do supeER.

very bad please listen top what theese people are saying avoid at all costs, jst take it at oyur community college, this woman screwed up my entire 1st semester of college!!!!!
horrible. don't take this class.
Unless you understand the material already or are a genius, she is nearly impossible to follow. She was quite unhelpful to people that were new to the material, and therefore I had to drop the class.
I took this class in high school, so it was pretty easy for me. She is a nice person, and a pretty decent teacher. Sometimes she doesn't explain things very well, but she isn't a bad teacher. Tests are a pain sometimes though.
Do not take this class, she does not know how to teach
She is very caring about the students who show they care. IF you ever need her for extra help she is there. Yes, the tests are hard... but they help you to actually learn the material. She is a good teacher and a nice and understandint person.
I followed the material fine and knew what she was talking about, but she's a stuck up old lady and she can be very boring at 8am. Her sence of humor is not quite intact and though she gives open book/notebook tests I've still never gotten above an 85.
god awful plays favorites she failed me and had no business doind so total waste of myu time... 6 1/2 hours a week wtf!?
She's bad at teaching. The exmaples in class are nothing near the difficulty of those in the homework and on the tests. All her tests are cumulative tests which make them a pain in the ass. The only good thing is you can miss it 6 times.
AVOID HER LIKE THE PLAGE......She should just throw in the towel. One of the worst teachers I have had at Ramapo. Unhelpful, uninspiring, old fashion teacher. I have heard nothing but bad things about her from students.
Be prepared to put a lot of effort in her class, she's very strict and always goes by the rules (no calculator, no hints during the test). That said, she's very helpful during class and on office hours, she cares about you and will help you until you get it
good proffesor. fair exams. can answer student's questions. (she is good math professor but I heard that she is very bad as Computer Science proffesor)
Everyone on here just has something against math... she is not bad at all... she is a great teacher.. just a lil difficult. If you really want to learn, take her, but you can't be one of them students who dont do anything, cuz you wont pass
Good teacher. You have to do the HW and pay attention. If you don't have a good math foundation of precalc, calc I it will be hard. Go to extra help as much as possible. Tests are fair if you do your HW and understand it.
I am a generally strong student in math, but her grading is just rediculous. We recently had a test.... only 30% PASSED. That's not a sign of effective teaching when the class is supposedly the "smarter" of the freshmen class.
She is the hardest math professor of all time. I took calculus in high school, was a math team captain, and still needed to drop her class. Avoid her at all costs.
Have nothing agaist math, but worst math teacher I ever had. She's very unclear on what she says, quizes are hard but her tests aren't as bad. She spent more time talking to the board then teaching our class! Was thinking about a math major, but her teaching style made it so unintersting.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!!! Exams are impossible and she grades the homework!!!! BOOOOOO!!! Only cares about simplifying problems, not how to do them. Not to mention it is impossible!! Either way you're screwed since Viglino is no prize pig himself (the other precalc professor).
Dr. Berger is helpful with office hours, and seems to care about student performance. However, lecture is a different story. She is unclear and is really hard, especially for those who are not necessarily good in math. If you're good in math, you'll be fine, but if you're not, brace yourself.
This lady is insane. She does not know how to teach. If it wasn't for me having an awesome teacher in high school, I would not have passed. She isn't hard with work load, but she does not know what she is doing. Half way through a problem she will erase a number and change it. Don't take her!
Berger did not know what she was doing half the time. She doesnt explain things well. She makes you feel dumb if you dont get something, or answer wrong. The work isnt too hard, she only collected it twice, and she told us when she was before hand. The quizes were pretty easy. Bad class!
Totally ruined my first semester of college
quizes once a week. A midterm and a final. She basically copies examples from the book onto the board. She's a nice lady but goes a little too fast. If you're having trouble go to her office hours and she's helpful.
She makes everything SO much harder then it is. Good luck in her class, i studied, did all my homework, and still barely managed a C. This class is impossible if you are not a math person that has had calc before... good luck!
Alright, its not fair for everyone to bash Berger. Precalculus is a hard topic. You have to go into this class expecting to get a B-C out of it. She grades your homeworks, but it makes you do them right. weekly quizzes are a breeze. She's always there to help. She wants to make sure you learn math!
horrible class..and thats coming from a math major. she knows her stuff, but she doesn't know how to teach. good luck haha.
This class was very difficult compared to past precalc classes. She moves very quickly. Quizes are once a week and there is homework every class. Not a good teacher to go for extra help. Make use of the tutor!!
Compared to Russo, she is a nightmare. Clarity of explanations = Not good. Book & Soltn. Manual explained more than her. Very stern and cold, either in class or her office. Grades HW, quizzes each week, and exams are extensive. Be prepared for a ton of notes and study a long time for this class.
If you think she's bad in Pre-Calc, just imagine what its like in Multivariable Calc Dont ever ask a stupid question in class without expecting her to get pissed at you
Berger is your worst nightmare come true. You will fail every test unless you are God's gift to "the calculus". Avoid her like the plague. If you are a math major reconsider your future at Ramapo if you have to take this woman.
Berger is indeed a hard teacher, however, if you pay attention and put in some effort, you will learn a lot from her. I took Precalculus three times, and her's was the only one I passed. Berger will spend the entire class on homework if you're confused, so there is no excuse for not understanding.
ok. i got an A in the class so quitchur****in' and do the work!
She very anal but her way works. The only reason this was easy for me was b/c I remembered a bunch of stuff from hs

Nothing good to say about her. I asked for help once, after being sick for a week and missing class. She gave me a dirty look and said "It should be in your notes". I stopped going after that. I'm waiting for D'Antonio to teach it next year.
Too much unnecessary work. I did about 90 percent of the homeworks - like 3 hours each time, and got 80's on tests. I got a C in the class - I was one of her favorites.
I am a math major and I love math. However she has absolutely killed it for me...I no longer ever want to see a math problem again and i am seriously thinking of switchin majors!!!
I had precalc in high school before, so that might have helped, but i thought she was fairly easy. The midterm had a huge curve on it, and she hasn't collected homework yet.
She is not EASY!!! She is extremely hard, which is why people think she is a ****. If you talk to her & go to her offfice hours, you will see that she is extremely helpful and caring. i promise.
a fairly easy quiz once a week. if you pay attention in class, do the hw, take notes, and go to her for extra help, you should have no problem. There a 3 tests...a probability test, calc test, and cumulative final. Negatives- marks off if she doesnt like ur work, and tends to throw a curveball on every test or quiz
u REALLY hafta work ur butt off in that class to earn a decent grade. i practically failed her midterm and i worked insanely hard to do well on the last 2 exams. if you ask her for help and show that you care, you'll do better than you expected. i survived by getting a B+ and im just OK in math. ask for lots of help and she will give it to you.
Dr. Berger can be tough, but definitely knows what she's talking about! Very smart and adds a lot of worth to the class - challenging. Very helpful if you show that you are trying your best. She doesn't want anyone doing bad, but if you don't try you can't succeed. I TA'ed with her for a year, she cares about her students!
she's great, do ur homeworks and u'll b fine, she's d best. came out learnin a lot, had an A
Great professor
she is a very good professor. she is very helpful to students. she always suggests that studets should visit her at her office if they have probelms. there is no experiential hours and the tests are simple compared to homwork.
i have never studied so hard on any subject as i did for this ****in **** class.. she is by far THE WORST TEACHER ive EVER had. i hope reads this****, because she has to leave and retire to save future students from taking her class. ugh terrible.
most students dont like her. she does make a lot of mistakes on the bored but nuttin major, three tests that are ez, the final was semi hard but i pulled off an A for the class, do the HW it helps
One of the most easiest classes... I rarely do the homework and i got an A in this class... the quizes are like a piece of cake (very easy) and test are a little bit harder than the quizes....The material is very easy...The professor is very good and helpful..I cant understand why students hate her .. she is very goood
Have to go to class, have to do homework. She's a nice teacher with good intentions, but a hard class. Exam problems ten times harder then anything in class or on hw.
Talks for long periods of time about nothing, doesnt really seem to care about anyone in the class, and does not know the material well herself. i got lucky with a B-
Hmm, she knows her stuff and does her job. She's a Nazi when it comes to minute details. I.E. missing equal signs is 5pts off and you need an equal sign for every line you use, etc. That's my only complaint. It's precalc, you're either good at it or you don't care. Do your work and you'll do fine
I'm not going to lie, this class was extrememly difficult. Going to her office hours is highly recomended. Tests are REALLY hard but quizes are easy(ish). Do the homework - it will help. Take her if you dont mind doing a little work. :) Overall not too bad.
she is ok, but she goes fast and expects you to already know a lot
her class was horrible at first but once you get to trig its not so bad. you MUST study and do the hw. she takes attendance EVERY class. VERY easy to fail; almost impossible to get an A. && she loves taking points off for everything, very maticulous, treats math like it's english, wants you to know the "language" of math...
if you have to take precalc, you're screwed. she's the only teacher, and she's very difficult. impossible to get an a, tests are hard as hell, quizzes get worse each time. must study and do homework, and ask her questions. she makes you know the "language" of math. **** at grading, takes points off for every little mistake.
If you can avoid it, do NOT take Berger. I am a straight A,B student and I had to fight tooth and nail to pull a C-. She knows the subject very well but doesn't particularly care if you learn it. She seems to feel Calculus is only for math majors and wants to weed the rest out by tests that only someone with natural math skills could pass.
She's a nice person (and plays favorites with anyone who shows interest) but as a teacher, she's quite difficult. She's a very tough grader and does take off for the tiniest errors, and her book is pretty limited. The key to passing is doing ALL the homework and make sure to use the tutoring center. Fortunately, she curves a lot at the end.
This woman is HORRIBLE. Avoid her like the BLACK PLAGUE. There is no way to take any type of decent notes that can assist you;the info in her book is limited and I found out that she teaches to push out students from her class and not to teach. SHE IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME, MONEY AND EFFORT. I cannot understand why is she still allowed to teach.
I would describe her as a old woman who hates everyone. She could care less about her students. Quiz every Friday. Tests are freakishly hard. AVOID HER! Worst teacher ever! Can not teach. Oh and get this they write their own books so what you take notes on in class and it's the same thing in the text. So if you don't understand you doomed.
Ok, so she isn't easy. Her tests are hard and so are the quizes but as long as you pay attention in class, follow what she's writing on the board and do your homework, you should be ok. If you do what she wants you to do not only do you get a good grade but you also learn all you need in order to get an A in calc. I'd take her again.
This woman knows her stuff. She wrote the textbook for this class. There's homework everyday and a test every week. The tests are pretty hard cause she's a hard grader. She wants everything done the RIGHT way. The class itself isn't too bad. But those tests are killer. We'll see how the final goes. *dies*
rough class. she grades every homework assignment like its a test. you have to really work. i wont take her again.
Never again. She was nice in person, but class was a nightmare. Her tests usually consist of about 10 HARD questions, and her book is poorly written, offering no chance for extra practice. The worst is she takes off for the littlest mistakes - even if you did the problem right. The same goes for her quizzes, which you can fail with just one mistake
The course material is difficult, and the class itself is structured as a lecture, which is pretty inconvenient for learning, but this Professor definitely knows her stuff! She's willing to give you extra help but you have to seek her out for it and show her that you are trying too, not just complaining. I prob only passed due to the great effort.
