Good teacher, tests are fairly simple and half multiple choice and half essay. The essay portion just needs to answer the question doesnt have to be a whole essay. Grades fairly, the book is for mulitple choice portion class is for essay. If you take notes in class, youll do fine

I could not stand this teacher. She's horrible at explaining the simplest concepts and her lectures drag on and on. I did not learn anything about social change that I didn't know already. Sure, the tests were easy, but I feel the class itself was a total waste of my time.
Had her for Identity and Social Inequality. The readings and documentaries that she showed were interesting. That's how I learned. As a professor, absolutely horrible! She waters down the curriculum and does not encourage critical thinking. She is inarticulate and cannot complete a coherent sentence. It's a disgrace to sociology. Do not take her.
Boring, Boring, Boring. Information given was all obvious. Just remember things like vocab and names. That's all you need. Many people leave after the attendance sheet goes around.
easy class, pretty interesting. she makes the subject easy to understand and her tests are EASY if u go over notes and watch the movies in class. she wants students to do well, she doesnt make it very hard to get a good grade
Her tests are super easy! However, she is very unprepared for class, she drags out lectures because she covers very few parts of each chapter(Whatever she feels like teaching). If your looking for an easy teacher but very boring she is for you.
She is a cool teacher. If you take the once a week class there are only 3 test and no midtern or final. Attendence is 10% of grade so go or get someone to write your name. Overall an easy A if you can read. She never keeps you for 3 hours usually 1hr and a half but sooooooooooooooo BORING!!!!! you can leave early though once you write your name.
she is a good teacher, she can get a little up set while discussing a chapter in the book and learns that no one read the chapter. all in all an easy A. take her, just prepare to write a little on her tests
Horrible teacher way to strict on the homework. The class so boring. she is seriously a bad teacher.
I took intro to sociology with her last semester. Attendance is mandatory and class is long and boring, but it's impossible to do poorly. I didn't study at all for the tests and got A's.. it's common sense.
She takes attendance in every lectures. Lectures are more like class discussions. She gives homework and you need to be very specific. She does read the homework, so don't bs them! The exams are not hard if you study the textbook, lecture notes, and watches all the films that she shows. Overall, it's not a hard class if you follow my advice. hehe
She was an ok teacher. I hated her class only because I could hardly ever hear her, If you take Sociological Perspectives[intro to soc] SIT IN THE 1ST 4 ROWS!!! Otherwise the lecture will be drowned out by the idiots in the back. Pretty easy if you study the notes & chapters.
If you have any interest in this topic, do not take this class. She will only ruin it for you.
As people have commented on here already, Mrs. Flores is a rather DULL and boring professor. Her articulation of thoughts is PAINFUL to follow & often sounds more suited for casual dinner table talk than a university. Another drawback is that she takes attendance as if teaching grade school. NOT RECOMMENDED especially if ur paying out of pocket!!
She is really dull and has made comments that makes me think that she is against certain groups in class. Her attendence policy is garbage . She is very impersonable and will make you feel like a number in a very large system. When I took her tests I had to use knowledge from other classes because she dose not teach.
She wasn't that bad. The lectures (although not terribly interesting) follow her PPT notes so if you skip or she's unclear it doesn't really matter. Material is usually common sense anyway so her exams (essay) are easy and she grades them easily. She showed several movies too. Downfall-Attendance everyday. The homework every week is just busy work.
Students be smart, and do not take Flores under any circumstances. With this economy the job marker is getting harder very day, you need a teacher that can actually teach, AND treat all student as equal ! Flores is not one of them.. very prejudice against any other group but Latino ... Please i am begging you BE REALISTIC DO NOT TAKE FLORES PLEASE!
she is not bad at all! i took her class 3 times a week for one hour, most of the lectures are on blackboard, and in class is mostly disscusion she didnt leave us homework just classwork and attendance is mandatory but its 10% of your grade. i honestly liked the class and she wasnt that bad :)
I enjoyed the content of the class, but that's about as far as it goes. I'd say it is a pretty decent class as far as material is concerned. Now, as far as the tests, you need to know the theories in depth and how they apply to what you're currently reading. I found that even the mandatory attendance didn't stop me from skipping.
Professor is extremely awesome. To date, she is def in my top 5 prof at FAU. I've learned so much in this class, that the lessons learned, I will take it with me for a lifetime. I was skeptical @ first, but I highly rec. her. Amazing. She is super intelligent. For those who work at night, its convenient bc she keeps ur attn level. Awesome prof.
honestly she was not that bad. i did not go often because it is very boring, but how can sociology be fun in any case? its easy just boringgg. dont take it early in the morning, you will catch yourself falling asleep. also if you participate she will love you. she loves people that pay attention to her.
Amazing teacher. Makes the material understandable. Make sure you participate!
This teacher is very boring. You go to class, she either does a power point or shows a movie. Your opinion doesn't really matter to her.. She makes you think it does by asking you to participate. Her tests are confusing, but some of the movies are interesting.
This is by far the worst professor I have had. She is not only rude but does not explain where to find assignments and barely explains them. This class is difficult and boring. This professor is monotone boring and rude. I highly advise you to not take a couse taught by this lady!!!
Flores isn't bad at all. She was frustrating from time to time, but I really liked her overall. I had her for THREE classes last semester and got A's in all of them. At least skim the readings, the notes go RIGHT along with the readings. If you participate , she likes that. She'll answer any questions you have. I'd take her again.
She is a decent professor. Although I did not like the class itself, she plays the BEST movies/documentarys. They are VERY interesting (probably the only thing i liked about the class) Test questions are kind of confusing & tricky. Not a HARD class, but its not easy if you dont pay attention.
she's not hard, may come off that way at first though. just pay attention in class and do the readings and you should do well.
Class is really easy and interesting if you are into the subject. the tests are based off of her lecture/discussions and a little bit off the books and readings. She shows movies sometimes that are cool. Just do the homework and current events and the test will be a breeze
I took her for global society & got an A.The lectures are boring but she does show really intersting documentaries, not boring ones like most professors do.She assigns several group assignments so make sure to work with people who do their work. She acts like the 2 tests will be the hardest thing ever, but if you study the powerpoints theyre super eas
Very liberal, and at times got so frustrated with the lectures I would leave after signing into the class. I never listened to her lectures, never read any of the text, and overall B/S'ed the course and passed with a B+. Had it not been for a random pop quiz, I would have gotten an A. 2 Easy papers, and 2 easy exams that require no studying.
Flores can be mean-spirited. You are expected to read and discuss in class. Her tests are easy if you know the material especially the perspectives! As long as you do the in-class assignments, attend class, and get average grades on the tests then you can pass.
Her class is pretty easy just read the book and pay attention and you will get an A.
Please do yourself a favor don't take this professor. She is a veritable fountain of misinformation. I started checking her facts and found she was wrong on numerous info she threw out. Nothing is supported by fact. She essentially talks out of her ass. Easy though. Received an A with very little work.
She wasn't that bad. I found the class interesting and her discussions enlightening. The class is pretty easy, but the amount of group assignments made me feel like I was in high school. I ended up doing most of the work out of fear that my grade would suffer in the hands of other students. Anyway, if you're willing to do some work, take her.
Professor Flores isn't that bad. at first she comes off tough but she is very kind hearted and cares about her students. the class isnt very hard basically just common sense knowledge. she gives multiple extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. She expects you to work hard and if you are close enough she will curve your final grade up.
Honestly, if i could do it all over i would not take her. I ended up with a B in the class by her standards. I finished the class with an 88.4 which to her is a B because she doesn't do + or -. The class wasn't that interesting the way she taught it. I'm a hard worker and I deserved that B+.Her teaching doesn't really have a lot of truth behind it.
A wonderful professor. Perfect introduction into sociology studies. Cares about her students, and is extremely clear in requirements. The level of work you put in equals to your grade. Great professor!
She appears intimidating at first but she's a great professor. I'm HIGHLY critical of professors so I don't know why people are acting like she's the devil. As long as you read the text she assigns and speak up in class, you'll be fine. She only gets pissy if you don't read. As far as Intro to Soc take Gina Carreno but for other classes she's good.
She is a great professor. She uses real life experiences to relate to the class. I never read any of the text and passed all of the tests. There were only 3 tests, and theyre always super easy. She gives extra credit and great study guides
This class was ok. Her lectures are bland and she doesn't appear very knowledgeable about what she teaches. The 3 tests are somewhat easy. Her phrasing is awkward at times, but it's common sense. You don't learn anything, often because she confuses details but you will leave with an a or b. The texts are also unnecessary and expensive.
I am currently sitting in Ms Flores lecture for race class and gender. Her grading scale is easy to understand. iclicker participation (answers dont have to be accurte) and 3 tests throughout the semester. Lectures are in simple powerpoints. She and her T.A. are nice ladies. You will get a good grade if you come to class. She is not hot though.
second time taking her :-) she's awesome. subject matter is very interesting and tests are pretty easy, just go to class and use the study guides for the test, attendance isn't mandatory, it's all iclickr, but it helps to go to class. i got an A
I would take Dr. Flores if she was teaching a class called the Sociology of Tree Bark. She is phenomenal. Well spoken, easy to understand, intelligent, and most importantly great at what she does!
I enjoy going to this class. She is very enthusiastic, and class is never boring. As long as you pay attention to her lecture, there should be no problem in passing her exams.
Great professor! Would definitely take her class again. If you are interested in Sociology you will love her class. Interesting lectures, 1 exam is taken during class time another is take home.
Decent professor, but she could be a bit annoying. She kicked our class out after 15 minutes because we hadn't done the readings. Seems a bit too into herself. Not a hard grader and the workload is reasonable, but there are better professors out there.
Biggest issue is how her test reviews have nothing to do with the test ever. She does iclicker and if your just 5 minutes late you can miss it, and then that grades ruined. Gives surprise in class assignments that can not be made up. Basically a very inconvenient teacher, who doesn't care much about anything besides listening to herself speak
easy!! of course she require iclickers, read th readings and do the journal.
She uses iclickers as participation/attendance. She's very nice and open and likes to stimulate her students' minds by always giving them possible opposing arguments to their theories. She is pretty fair in grading and is very adamant about the article readings. ALWAYS read before you get to class. She's a really fun and understanding teacher tho.
She is good in teaching but if you are ready to study her textbook then take it. She gives lots of chapters to read . And if you can remember what was it in every chapter including single like then take this class otherwise not to take this. She do not provide her ppt persentation and checks term paper very hard. Not an easy class.
If you read the textbooks and other readings that she assigns, and watch the movies and pay attention, it's a relatively easy class. Also she posts an outline for each section on blackboard that are helpful to look over before tests.
She's is really helpful and her lectures are great. She's just an overall great professor. Show up to class and read the readings and you'll pass with no problem. She looked mean as hell the first day but she's actually really cool.
Loved this class! She's very interested and passionate about this subject. Attendance is mandatory through i-Clicker. As long as you read the articles and pay attention in class you'll do great! The material is very interesting
Maritza Flores is an awesome professor! The class is very interesting but make sure you read the articles assigned because she asks questions about them on the exams. Attendance is mandatory through iClicker. I loved this class!
Her class is about 150 students. Her notes (ppt presentation) reflects in her quiz. She do not provide her notes. If you have lots and lots of time to study her readings then take it. Every single line is precious coz u she does gives such question which you think "this is not important." Iclicker for attendence. I prefer not to take her class.
The tests are easy if you pay attention in class and read the chapters assigned from the textbooks. There are three journals (2+ pages) assigned. Attendance is taken through iClicker quizzes (aren't graded). The class is pretty interesting and I do recommend taking it.
Not too tough of a teacher, but in order to get an A or B, you must do A LOT of reading. Most test questions come from the readings, which are the most boring stories you will ever read. They're pretty long too. Teacher can be moody when there isn't enough participation. If you don't want to read a lot, DO NOT take this class. Not too hard though.
She teaches nice but her notes (slides) are not available but instead she gives only outline. Her notes reflects her test which were in 3 diff. section. She is not negotiable teacher if you have trouble uploading your term paper. Test are slight confusing. You have to read everything from book as she ask anything in test. Time consuming course.
She's more engaging than some other professors. A noticeable amount of her material was inaccurate, some was completely wrong. Makes a point of telling the class they're adults but has a zero-tolerance policy disregarding her 'adult' students: forgetting iClicker, having to miss class/tests, not having books, etc. All-in-all a decent professor.
She's a nice lady but her lectures are pretty boring. She will talk about 2 slides on her power point during the entire class. You can miss 4 classes before your grade is really affected. iClicker required. YOU NEED THE TEXT BOOKS. READ READ READ all assigned articles for tests and iClicker questions. Doesn't like cell phone usage.
Very easy class. She gives 3 journals throughout the semester based on the readings. There are 4 tests that are fairly easy if you read the book. She does an iclicker every day for attendance, but other than attendance her class isn't necessary to go to
I prefer not to take this class unless you have only one class for a semester. There are lots and lots of readings. which you have to complete a week for journal and test. She is not that much helpful. She is rude if you are using phones or laptop for social media in her class.
Dr Flores is a very nice lady. I took her for 2 classes and did well in both of them. You must attend all classes & read all assignments in order to pass. She give a pop quizzes & everything comes from the readings though she incorporate books with real life & the workplace.
Prof. Flores sticks to her syllabus and her rules very strictly. Iclicker class so do not skip too much or your grade will suffer. Flores is a very interesting professor, and I enjoy her class. If you complete all the readings and are somewhat alive during her classes you'll do fine. Offers some extra credit, nice lady, easy to get along with.
Great professor. Allows people to share their opinions in class, and it is a fairly easy class if you attend class. There are a few assignments, but nothing too difficult.
I loved this class. It had some boring parts, but overall very informative. It's one of those classes that makes you open your eyes to things that you normally wouldn't think about. Dr. Flores is a very nice lady, and I like that she really sticks to the syllabus.
Probably one of the worst professors i have ever taken. Cares more about who is talking and texting in class than teaching the actual lesson.
I am currently taking Dr. Flores and she's great. Very clear, straight to the point. If you DO NOT like reading A LOT then do not take this course. The tests are not too bad if you study what's on the study guide, she just expects you to remember a whole lot of chapters and readings for them which can be MUCH. Overall, it's an interesting class.
This class is very interesting, and her lectures are great. the class isn't too difficult, if you listen to her lectures and pay attention you should do pretty well. The only downfall is the reading- there is a lot to read, but if you listen and understand what's going on in class and get a gist of the readings you'll do pretty well.
Dr. Flores is a great professor. I took her for Race, Class, Gender, and Sexuality and she's really passionate about what she lectures about. Her class is tough if you don't read the readings she assigns. She uses the iClicker for attendance and it's pretty much mandatory. Only 3 online quizzes, which are a little tough. Only 3 in-class tests.
Dr. Flores makes it very clear what she expects from the class. She follows the syllabus so you will always know what is going on in class that day. She is very passionate about the topics she discusses. She gives personal examples and really gets you to think. I think that the class was enjoyable. However, the tests and quizzes are fairly hard!
The teacher is okay and she doesn't really make the information interesting. However, she does go into lengthy explanations about the curriculum which helps you understand.
Dr. Flores is very nice and passionate about what she teaches. She's very clear in her syllabus about what she expects. There is a decent amount of reading, but it's not difficult reading. Her tests and quizzes are pretty specific in their questions so they can be hard. In class assignments are easy. Lots of extra credit. Must show up for iCliker.
Great professor. She is very detailed in her lectures and conveys her material effectively. DO NOT SKIP, her lectures contain so much information. Her exams are essay based, so you will need to read and pay attention. Group project is simpler than it looks. She offers extra credit if you participate in discussions. Challenging but not impossible.
Dr. Flores can be grumpy, she kicked the class out for not reading (sorry, that's your job). Her test questions can be VERY ambiguous. To the point she won't even know the correct answer herself and will try to explain it anyways. Somewhat interesting class, but lots to read and random things to memorize. Do not recommend!
Dr. Flores is okay. She has a bit of a bad attitude sometimes but it's bearable. Her class is interesting but her test and quizzes are tough and worded tricky. I studied my butt off and still only got a B. She gives extra credit
This class has a lot of reading!!! Her lectures are based off the readings, if you don't read you'll probably be lost. She takes attendance and it is a big part of your grade. Tests are based on notes taken during lecture(not provided) and all the readings, somewhat hard.
She takes attendance clearly very seriously. Does not matter how you do on the Final Presentation, Tests and Group paper she will find a way to deduct your grade to a non-passing grade. Really though had a good student-Professor relationship but clearly I was wrong. Feeling very disgusted and angry that someone who was ill this semester
She's a great professor. In the class there's LOTS OF READINGS. There are 2 in-class assignments which are based on several readings & she picks 3 that she put questions about on the screen & you have to answer individual then with groups. There are 2 tests based on the readings(cheat sheet is used!) & then there's a group paper & presentation
You just have to attend class for the lectures and you will pass. Her lectures are so CLEAR and INFORMATIVE that you really don't need the book, just access code to do work online. Iclicker counts as participation. If you miss too many your grade gets lowered. There's like 3 test, a lot of easy quizzes and homework online; use quizlet if anything
Her lectures are informative and interesting. Homework done through the access code, if you do it you get credit which helps your grade. She gives a review before exams. She is definitely a nice professor and has a passion for the subject which goes a long way.
Very nice lady and pretty easy class. Her lectures are super boring if you're not a sociology major or interested in the subject so beware of that. Any question you have she will answer it. My advice is don't even read the text book because all of the information from her powerpoints (which are on blackboard) are on the 3 exams. Not a bad class.
Dr. Flores is amazing! Her lectures are great and interesting. There is only one research assignment towards the beginning of the semester and she is tough at grading this. Otherwise, her class is easy! Show up every class with your iClicker and do your learnsmarts and you'll pass the exams!
Awesome professor. I'm not interested in sociology, but I took global society with her and it was a decently easy course with very interesting lectures from Dr. Flores. Very pleased with my experience with her.
Her calculations of grades is strange. If you do bad on one assignment, kiss your A goodbye. She uses i-clickers as attendance. She does the i-clickers multiple times in class, if you miss one then you don't get the points for the day. Overall, not bad.
As long as you show up to class and even somewhat listen and read the articles assigned, the class is definitely easy and the test are easy too.
3 tests and the last one is the final (20% each), 5 online quizzes (10%), 1 research paper (10%). She takes attendance using i-clicker and gives you 4 chances to miss class without it affecting your grade. Tests and quizzes based both on powerpoints and textbook and she does not put powerpoints online. Take notes and pay attention and you'll pass.
Dr. Flores is an easy professor. She has power points for her lectures which aren't too boring. As long as you pay attention and actually study, then you should do well. She takes attendance everyday, but gives you 4 free days. She gives you a detailed study guide for every exam and goes over it in class. I would recommend her.
solid teacher just make sure you are on top of things
This class was a pretty easy class. She takes iclickers, you have quizzes due online every week or so, 3 exam and one research paper. The exams count for a big chunk of your grade. Overall good teacher. Beware she makes her exam questions a bit tricky.
A mediocre class. Not a fan of her teaching style, she just reads off of PowerPoints. I did not study for any of the tests and still got an A- in the class. Was just a boring class, overall.
9 am class. Lectured for 50 minutes (3 times a week). iClicker is definitely needed. Make sure YOU READ THE TEXTBOOK. All the quizzes and exams were based mainly off the book and the lectures. Quizzes were online (so basically open book). The lectures were boring, but topic was interesting.
Wish I had her for my next sociology class. Amazing teacher. She lectures phenomenally. She answers questions to where you understand them. If you don't have an iclicker don't show up because that attendance. Overall love the class.
this class was def an easy A. 5 quizzes through out the course online that are easy with text book and time limit on an hour with only 10 questions and 2 chances. she does I clicker which is 10% of grade so attendance is basically mandatory. Her reviews do help for the test but also take notes in class and you will be good. final is not cumulative.
Professor Flores was a lovely teacher. She grades participation through iClickers, but I forgot mine all the time and still got 100%. If you pay attention in class, do the homework assignments and study for the test it is easy to pass. Don't buy the book unless you need a hard copy, other wise the connect code comes with the online text.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!! She is literally the worst. Attendance is so mandatory. She is spiteful and will take points off if you don't come. Her tests are IMPOSSIBLE. Even if you study. You have to know the book inside and out. I went to office hours to get help with the test and she was so rude and didn't help me. Avoid at all costs
I will never voluntarily take this class with this professor again. Shes incredibly boring and not an engaging lecturer. I presume that shes aware of it too, which is why she allows you to be on your phone. She tries to grade harshly on the group in-class assignments. Lastly, textbooks are mandatory although youre only reading 10 chapters.
exams barely relate to what is taught in class, TA grades the research papers and she violates your grade when she isn't even a professor. Attendance is mandatory with the iclicker, monotonous lectures, no teaching, she just reads off the slides. would not recommend! choose a different IFP course dont take this one!!!
Nice lady, but since she over-allows class discussion her lectures (and study guide) do not appropriately prepare you for the tests. Overall, it is just a normal professor. Funny at times, but nothing out of the ordinary
Very opinionated teaching. Only reads from the power-points and the study guides she makes for the exams barely match the tests. Definitely my hardest class this semester. I don't recommend her.
I think Professor Flores was an ok teacher. The powerpoints didn't match up as much for the test. The textbook is very helpful. Make sure you are on time to class because you are graded on attendance and participation through iclicker. Discussion were decent and I enjoyed the videos showed throughout the semester
She's alright as a lecturer but her exams barely scratch the lectures and focus much more on the readings which was ridiculous. She gives easy attendance grades through iClicker but assigns a lot of unnecessary hw. She's average if you're in desperate need of a class, but I'd avoid if possible.
She doesn't post powerpoint on canvas, so you must go to class in order to take notes and also attendance is mandatory, she's very boring and just reads off slides. TA grades paper and got a 91% on 2 days worth of writing. online quizzes are easy and quizlet-able.
She's not the worst professor but I just didn't like her teaching style. She just reads off slides during lectures doesn't go in depth about the material. The study guides barely cover anything that is on the test. So, make sure to have a great understanding of the chapters you're being tested on.
Her lectures are on interesting topics but she is very boring. Shes not very accepting of other peoples political beliefs and is very opinionated. Her grades are only online quizzes, one 8 page long research paper, 3 tests and iclicker attendance. The class is easy but if you mess up on one thing you can kiss your A goodbye.
Mostly everything is fine, but there are a few things that make the class bad. All of her big exams that are worth a lot and they are all in class. Other SYP 2450 classes have their exams online. If you don't do well of the exams, you won't receive a good grade because it worth a lot.
I thought this class would be easy but after test 1 my grade went from an A to a C and never went up even though I got 100 on all of the quizzes and a 90 on the Research Article which is each 20% of your grade. you have to show up and be on time for the iclicker. Her test mean grades as a class are below 70%. she doesn't give a lot of extra credit.
Professor Flores lectures heavy but they're easy to follow with the powerpoint and occasionally shows movies in class that are included in tests and quizzes. Quizzes are on canvas and about every 2 weeks or so. She uses the iclicker every class for attendance and allows you 3 missed days before penalizing you. Very interactive and would take again.
Her grading system sucks. You fail one exam, you won't be able to bring your grade back up unless you ace everything & pass the other two exams. I got 100% on in class assignments, quizzes, and even got extra credit but couldn't get my grade back up after I failed her first exam. Her exams are worth 60% of your grade, while everything else is 10%
Flores is a straightforward teacher, go to class and takes notes you'll be fine. Provides study guide for the exams that is directly related to the questions that show up on the test. Only thing is she doesn't post the actual notes taken in class. Lots of extra credit opportunity as well. If you don't go to class you will probably fail.
She's respectable in regard to her knowledge. But she is not very understanding (obviously could careless about anything to do with you and your family). Through the COVID-19 pandemic, she was still very strict and unhelpful with synchronized class time assignments and tests. No real concern for helping her students and easing stress.
I had to take Flores twice due to schedule difficulties and in both classes she was the most unhelpful and least understanding teacher I have ever had. Throughout the whole year, but specifically during the COVID-19 pandemic, she lacks compassion for the struggles every student is facing and will NOT accept errors as simple as spelling.
Dr. Stadnik is a great professor. She lays down what's expected from her classroom and she does not play around. She makes an effort to connect with us students and most of class is just lecture and documentaries. You must have iClickers, since without it, you will fail. Try to come earlier to class, since she likes to start early sometimes.
Took Dr. Flores over the 2019 Fall semester. She is straight forward out the gate about the syllabus and requirements. Class was a joy to take. She keeps you engaged and involved in the subject matter. It's clear that she loves what she does. Very friendly and fair, but doesn't tolerate excuses. Excellent educator!
One of the best professors. Have a Quiz or Test every 2 weeks. Does not use a lockdown browser. Barely any discussion posts. All work can be found on Quizlet. Definitely recommend her... Easy A!
Professor Flores is a great professor. Her class consisted of 3 exams, a quiz for each module, and about 3 discussion posts. The quizzes were very easy and were from the powerpoint slides, quizlet, or vocabulary from the book. Her exams do require you to read the chapters from the book. Everything is open notes. I would recommend taking this class.
Professor Flores is nice however, her tests are unnecessarily difficult. The content is all over the place and many of the questions were briefly or never talked about. She is a tough grader meaning if you spell a word wrong or capitalize it even if it is the right answer it will be marked wrong. For a select all question, no half credit.
Professor Flores does not care about your grades at all. Extremely hard grader. Makes every quiz super weighted and is stingy when you try to compromise with her. If you want to be successful do not take her class.
The online class is based solely off of the textbook. Just do the learnsmart assignments every one or two weeks and the 10 question quizzes that go with them. Tests are in the textbook as well and are easy (there's only 3 or 4). Only 4 discussion posts throughout the entire class. Just do the work and it's an easy A.
If I could give her a 0, I would. This professor does not care about students, showed no sympathy during the pandemic. Avoid this professor. Not understanding at all. Lost 2 family members to COVID and even after explaining my circumstances, she did not allow me to take a quiz which made it very difficult to raise my grade. She did not care.
I am taking her class, and she is an amazing professor. Professor Flores is direct in her lectures and cares about her students. If you are struggling, she will go above and beyond to help out. She is also passionate about sociology and is supportive towards others.
I have her for an online class and to be honest, she adds nothing to the class. I could have learned as much just reading the book on my own. She introduces each module with a one minute monotonous introduction and provides an awkwardly formatted PowerPoint riddled with grammatical errors that is nothing more than bullet points for the sections.
Really easy class just do the work to pass. Dont waste your time showing up bc you dont have to and everything you learn is online she just repeats it in class. Boring work and class but easy A. Cant complain but wouldnt take again
Honestly easiest class ive ever taken. You dont even have to show up to class, just take the quizzes and tests on time and youre on your way to a solid A+
She fails students .
I was not a fan of the format for this class. It was a lot of work for a fundamental and especially the tests and quizzes were unnecessarily more complicated then they needed to be. Way more stress than needed for this class and left me little time to actually enjoy learning any of the material. 3 tests, weekly quizzes, and discussion posts.
I took this class online and it really wasn't hard at all. There's only 3 tests, 6 discussions, and 8 quizzes. She does have extra credit opportunities, she just grades too picky, like 2 points off for missing one in-text quotation or threaten to report you if you don't cite. Other than that, just submit the work (properly) and you'll be fine.
She doesn't personally grade anything and has her TA do it, but her TA is inconsistent with grading. You could hit all of the marks and the TA would ding you for something so silly, but in the next discussion, you could not hit all the marks and get a 100. I personally wouldn't recommend her to any one.
The class is easy, that's great but the professor lacks empathy. I like that she gave students many extra credit. But when you reach out sometimes it feels like she has something against you or that she's not gentle. Will not take again, although the class was not difficult when the professor has an attitude its hard to learn or to enjoy the class.
The online class consists of discussion boards and quizzes. The quizzes are easy but the discussion boards are practically impossible. The instructions frame some parts as optional when they are not, points are taken off for things that are nowhere in the rubric or instructions and she does not give proper feedback unless you hound her for it.
The class has quizzes, tests, and discussions. While Professor Flores grades strictly, using Unstuck ai along with the textbook can help you do well. Overall, a manageable course if you stay on top of the work.
The discussion word count is pretty long. It is manageable but you have to be sure to read the chapters carefully. Short lectures. Insightful assignments
