A little hard to understand at first but great once you understand how she does things. Very very helpful.
Mariya is the nicest prof I've had. She is a bit hard to understand at first, but once you get used to it its no big deal. She is very helpful and tries to be funny and entertaining. Would def. recommend her and i would take another class she teaches!
She is funny. Difficult to understand at first because she's Russian, but you definitely get used to it.
Dr. Vorobets is a great professor! She is very approachable and extremely helpful.
Dr. Vorobets was probably my favorite professor this semester, I went to her office hours 1-2 times a week and built a strong relationship with her. She is extremely helpful and tries to make the class enjoyable I would definitely recommend her. You do have to work for your grade. Her accent was tough to understand at first.
She's super helpful and awesome but her tests are tough.
Professor Vorobets was the best math prof I have ever had! Her accent does not make her hard to understand at all. She explains the content in a way that anyone could understand, and she is extremely helpful. The material is not difficult if you took calculus in high school, and she posts all notes (with problems worked out) online. Def. recommend!
I took her for Math 142 and I had the worst time with the class. I was not offered calculus in high school and most of the math is based off of that. I played catch up the whole year and it was a very hard class for me personally.
I took Math 152 Honors, and the class wasn't that bad. The examples in her lectures are pretty much test-material and the material isn't hard. Calculus in high school helps big time.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF! I strongly warn anyone who is not strong in math to not take her she doesn't ever explain what she is doing but just works out the problems in the notes and has you copy them done. The Homework load is pretty heavy 3 assignments a week with 20ish LONG questions. She is a nice lady but a poor teacher!
I would not recommend this professor to anyone. If you are not strong in math, even if you work very hard, you will fail. There is a TON of homework and she is monotone and boring. She also showed up late to class everyday. She does not really care at all. Expect your textbook to teach you, and even that is not super helpful.
Would not recommend. Very boring, monotone, really does not care at all about anything. Difficult to stay attentive in class. Lectures are just doing examples and copying down, no explanation or help to understand process. Probably learn best by the textbook, or I learned basically everything by youtube videos.
I really enjoyed her class, she tried to make it clear for students to understand and always accommodated to students' needs (she would push the homework back etc.). Silence your phone and pay attention, and you'll be fine.
She posts her notes online which is super helpful and she is very nice. Sometimes her accent is hard to understand, but you get what she is saying. She drops some low homework grades and a low quiz grade. She actually makes calculus make sense and she's helpful if you actually ask questions.
This teacher dissapointed me for sure. She is a bit monotone, but she is extremely clear and explains well. HOWEVER she teaches what she wants not to exams. She tend to skip over entire topics on exams which makes it frustrating and you have to self teach. Also ended up finishing weeks before everyone else so its hard to get homework help.
I skipped class a lot so I could have probably gotten an A if I did not, however, her final was really hard. It was surprising that the class average was always 70 and above
She posts her lectures online so attendance is not mandatory. She has an accent but is not hard to understand. Loved her!
In 151 all tests are common exams so everybody takes the same test no matter the teacher and everyone gets same amount of HW assigned. So the only thing to look at for these professors is how good is their lecture and the recitation class. Her lectures are average, difficult to understand thick accent, and she often doesn't show you all the steps to get to the answer (she assumes everyone in this class has already taken calc in high school). She does post her notes with her working out the problem from in class online which is very helpful on HW. For recitation she makes you take the quizzes by yourself while other teachers allow group quizzes.
Good professor, has notes that you can print out before class so you can follow along while taking notes. Will stop and answer questions. Her lectures are very good but I found myself dosing off more than once. The notes are all very helpful and she does a great job of preparing the students for the tests.
I actually enjoyed having Dr. Vorobets as my prof. She was caring and always answered any questions that students had. Do not let your phone go off in class as she will threaten to move the due date of homework up a day or two. Although she has an accent, she is not too hard to understand. Overall, I would recommend taking her for calc 151.
Vorobets is a good and safe teacher to take. Her lectures are a bit monotone, but you will know the material after leaving a lecture. The class is structured well, and every topic has about a 10 question homework associated with it. She posts her notes before class, and her completed notes after class.
Dr. Vorobets isn't a great teacher in my opinion. Thankfully, I have taken Calculus AB before because if I hadn't I might have had a hard time with this class. Her lectures are extremely monotone, she doesn't seem to care about what she is teaching, and she can sometimes be rude to students. In general, I wouldn't recommend her to other students.
Accent is not very accessible, and overall her class was not very good; lots of homework on webassign (3-4 assignments/week), as well as matlab group projects. She's not a horrible professor, but I would definitely choose someone else if you have the option.
Ignore what these people are saying about all the homework and groupwork being awful... ALL Math 151 classes have this. All of them. Do not base your proffessor over the homework or lab because it is the same across the course. Base your pick off of lecture reviews and how the prof actually teaches!
Vorobets has a thick accent. She goes through material very quickly. Does not explain any concepts - only works out problems. I had a strong math background and using A+ tutoring made making an A very practical. I would dissuade students without a calculus background.
Super thick accent, very hard to understand. Also does not take the time to explain concepts, she just works out problems and expects us to figure out the concepts on our own. Took her 152 class with honors and it was by far the hardest class I've ever taken, class averages for first two tests were well below failing and she doesn't curve.
mono-tone. not much explaining during lectures, she just does problems on the projector. I don't know her nationality but kind of sounds like gru.
Classes consist of just doing examples of Math topics. Can get a bit dull and boring but many people seem to like it. She has a bit of an accent and talks softly but it's fine if you ask her to speak up. Tests are alright as long as you do the past exams and her final was all multiple choice for me. Just an average professor.
I really wanted to like her but when I failed both of the first 2 exams it was really hard to do that. I did go into this class thinking it'd be a breeze but was hugely mistaken. Her accent was hard to understand, she was super monotone, and quiet too. I kinda blew it off and it bit me in the butt at the end. I retook it w/ a better prof and passed
Very, very hard prof. If you take her for Math151. She's nice enough, but I was acing the practice exams for Math152 regular, but her exams were much more difficult. She wouldn't let us take the Common Exams, but there was no homework. I would recommend against her. Math152 Honors was less enriching and more enraging.
Not a great prof, but tests are very doable. You learn the best by just working through homework, not necessarily through lecture. Her accent is pretty thick (eastern Europe) which can be a bit difficult at first. She's actually very funny if you pay attention, but monotone voice and you kind of want to fall asleep. Also, textbook is horrible.
For Diff. Eq, There were 4 grades. 2 exams, homework, final. I had to teach everything to myself using chegg, and the homework as practice. Her lectures are very dull and she faces the board while talking making her difficult to understand. If you can teach yourself the material then this class is fine.
Dr. Vorobets, while somewhat boring, is a good lecturer and helps students understand the material. I had no trouble getting an A in differential equations and that was due partly to her. Also, the book is useless if you just force yourself to read it. The assigned homework also helps with learning differential equations.
Monotone heavy Russian accent w/ no enthusiasm. The lectures are literally her just working out a solution to the homework problems and she has the step by step solution in front of her. I don't recommend for anyone to take her class, as your grade will suffer the consequences. Only + is: You could record her "lectures" and use as sleeping aids...
Dr. Vorobets does not explain the concepts logically, but rather regurgitates what is written on the papers in front of her monotonically. The only plus is that she posts those papers online along with solutions. You will need to depend heavily on the internet to understand and pass, since her lectures have zero input to the papers' words.
She definitely tries. She gives fill-in notes, but if you miss class, you learn just as much. She posts notes online which is good if you miss, but it's super hard to make sense of the notes. She goes way too fast. I've always been really good at math, but I struggled a lot. I did okay, but I know that a better prof would have meant an A over a B.
Vorobets is a decent math prof. The only thing is that her lectures can be boring. She posts all the notes she does in class online so there's very little incentive to actually show up for lecture unless it's to get test information. Lots of homework, about 3 webassign assignments a week which can be rough. Overall, would recommend.
Vorobets does nothing in her lectures except for read out of the textbook and work several problems while looking and sounding as uninterested as possible. She posts the notes online so it is not necessary to attend lecture except to take exams. If I didn't have this prof, I am pretty sure I'd have an A in the class.
She is terrible at delivering lectures but she posts notes online which means it is not required to attend class. Her tests are fairly easy and are 88 percent of the course grade. She gives really good partial credit on exams which made my test average better than it should've been. there is lots of web homework but that is the case for all of 251
Professor Vorobets is a very boring lecturer, but she is nice and posts all of her notes online. Most of my class stopped showing up, and I am sure that you could make an A through Khan Academy if you put in enough effort. Also, it helps if you look up Amy Austin's notes online as well
Professor Vorobets' isn't a particularly exciting lecturer. However, she posts sample problems before each exam, is fairly accessible outside of class, and has/will grant HW extensions. The course is basically 3 tests, the final, and HW. Tests 1-2 aren't bad, 3 is a bit tougher. The final is probably the toughest, but overall not too unmanageable.
Dr. Vorobets accent was very strong and took some time to get used to. She took forever to grade exams. She posted notes with example problems before class for you to print out and bring with you and then posted completed notes after. The final exam was very difficult.
Calc III is challenging and requires effort. That being said, Vorobets was always willing to help outside of lectures. She does have a sense of humor, and can make the content more enjoyable that way. The class covers lots of material in a short time span, so reading the textbook before class helps you get more from her lectures.
All the homework is online through WebAssign, and I recommend doing all the required and all of the optional homework assignments; by doing so, I barely had to study before each exam, usually just doing her practice problems the night before or the morning of. Vorobets has an accent but she's not hard to understand, and she makes jokes all the time
Dr. Vorobets is very nice and really wants to help her students learn and do well. Differential equations is still a tough course, so you definitely have to put in extra work, show up to her lectures, and take notes to get an A. There was about one quiz per week, but if you did the homework, they weren't too hard. The tests were more difficult.
I have had this professor twice (152 and 308). it does take a little to get used to her accent but she posts really good notes to her website as well and study material for tests. While the material is difficult all the tests and quizzes that she writes are fair. She is also good about giving partial credit. funny
Vorobets' lectures were amazing, as she explained things in a down to earth manner and did tons of example problems in class. She's also pretty lighthearted about solving problems. Also, she lets you know what the most important parts are and grades the other parts less harshly (e.g., counting off less than a point for algebra).
If you have other option, take that don't take her class. she posts the notes on the website and she is trying to help you, however, she takes too much time to take the note and course itself requires lots of memorization. You will not get a chance to use the cheat sheet. Also, she doesn't respond to email.
She is great, if you go to class you'll pass. Her lectures are good, never boring easy to pay attention. She does have an accent but is very easy to understand.
Her exams were exactly like the homework, so if you don't chegg your way through homework, then you will do well. She's subtly funny, and she's very intelligent. She always explains herself clearly, but not too much. (ex. she won't explain simple algebra and some trig function work).
Mariya is great! I'm taking her again next semester for MATH 308. I think her lectures are clear to understand, and she moves at the perfect pace for me. The first two weeks are a little slow, but you can blame that on cal3 curriculum tbh. She drops one quiz grade and three homework grades. The tests are similar to lecture and hw problems. :)
I'm taking Dr. Vorobets this semester for cal 3 and she's great. She's really funny and she clearly explains her examples in class. She grades based off understanding of the content and doesn't take off very much for sign errors/algebra mistakes. I'm definitely taking her again next semester for math 308.
She's a tough lady but very straight forward. I will say she will roast you if you ask stupid questions. She made calc 3 easy and wanted you to learn, not memorize. All in all, great prof.
Attendance is not mandatory however there are quizzes that are about as planned as teen pregnancies in texas so you'd better go. You will not get through everything in class, I'm about to take my final and the class as a whole does not know what/ who Lagrange is, tests are hard but at least they aren't cumulative.
Not a bad prof at all, her lectures can be pretty boring though. The advantage is that you can learn easily with the textbook if you're confused and she's very lenient on tests. Not many multiple choice and free responses that have lots of opportunities for extra credit, and the tests aren't very hard. Show up to class to take quizzes/in class assn
Although at first it is tough to understand her, Professor Vorobets is a good professor. The tests are easier than the homework and if you struggle with the homework, she is very helpful during office hours. Her tests are difficult but fair. Although at first she seems very strict, she is actually very nice and makes many jokes during class.
Overall Dr. Vorobets is a great teacher. I actually learned the material for Cal 3 thoroughly with her help. I think figuring out how to study for her exams was the trickiest part. What I did was review the online homework and complete the review. Her lectures are straight to the point and effective. I'm taking her again for differential equations.
It's not an easy A but it's definitely possible. I was scared to take MATH 251 but she really helps you out. DO THE HOMEWORK. I worked out each question and did extra ones from the textbook. That's the best way to learn. The tests/quiz will be a lot easier once you know how to solve the problem. Go to office hours after exams. She is very lenient.
Best math professor Ive ever had. This is my second semester with Dr. Vorobets and I would recommend her to anybody. She grades fairly, teaches well, and is so kind and caring. She is very open to questions and I feel she knows how to teach to anyones abilities. You can tell she genuinely cares about your success!
Dr. Vorobets is a gifted professor. She can definitely teach and her tests are very manageable if you work hard. I would strongly recommend attending the week-in reviews, they're very helpful and another way to reinforce the learned material. The only thing that was difficult was the final exam. But overall, Dr. Vorobets is the best prof at TAMU.
I took Dr. Vorobets for Cal 3 last semester and DiffEq this semester and I would definitely take her again if I could. Her quiz and test questions are always reasonable and she is also very generous with partial credit. She really cares about her students and has a good sense of humor, even if she comes off as apathetic at first.
Dr. Vorobets seems apathetic but she actually cares about her students. Ask her questions and she'll do her best to explain them. She's reasonable. I studied a lot by doing the optional homework from the textbook and redoing class notes. I haven't taken calculus for 6 months and still was able to do ok in the class so YOU CAN DO IT :)
Its monday.. Solid prof. DifEq is just really hard. Tests were just like the lectures. She gave us no homework. Instead, she'll post a list of problems (non graded) from the book to work out to help prepare for exams. She's really understanding, kind, and funny. Your best bet for exams is to work out as many probs from her list/lecture as possible
I had her for both 251 and 308 but overall she's really good at explaining concepts in her office hours and always posts her notes.
I took Professor Vorobet's classes for both 251 and 308. She is definitely the best prof I had so far. Her lectures are mainly examples and Her lectures are also posted. For 251, she is very generous on grading and extra points. 308 is harder since it is more quiz and test heavy, but she will always give you enough practice for the test and quiz.
Awesome prof, but the lectures are super important. She uploads the lectures pretty promptly after class and is always accessible. Tests are just like the problems we do in lecture, so make sure to study. She is really understanding and is always willing to help.
Failed my first exam, but managed to do decent on the next exams and got a near perfect score on the final. Dr Vorobets was always willing to help students before / after class and during office hours. Usually pretty quick with emails. She went over lots of examples that were helpful for exams. Scheduled quizzes. Truly cares about her students.
Professor Vorobets is a good professor. She really explains the concepts well and I have never had an issue grasping the big ideas. The tests are pretty difficult though so be prepared for that.
Vorobets is one of the best professors I've yet to have. She knows a great deal about what she's talking about but she is great at explaining it at a college level. Her tests are hard but she allows formula sheets and is a fair grader. MATH221 is a difficult class, but if you go to her office hours she is great at clearing up any confusion.
Dr. Vorobets was overall a good teacher if you're good at math. She didn't necessarily help when it came to teaching, and never really explained answers well when questions were asked in her class. As long as you pay attention to lectures, do the homework, and can do the practice problems without notes, then it should be an easy A.
Was super generous about rescheduling a test after I got sick. Even gave me a couple days post recovery to study.
Great prof for cal3, 90% of the grade is based on 5 exams, 10% HW. This isn't bad because the example problems given in lecture & on HW are on the same rigor as test questions. If you didn't upload solutions in time you can email her and she will accept them. You will need to pay for HW access via cengage. She give jokes occasionally in class :D
I have had her for 2 semesters for different calc classes and she's fantastic as always. Attending lecture is not mandatory but super helpful to understand concepts. She is super understanding and does her best to help her students. She has always been straightforward and doesn't try to trick us badly.
Dr. Vorobets is a fantastic professor. She is extremely understanding and kind! Calculus 3 is a very hard class, but Dr. Vorobets helped make it easier.
I had Dr. Vorobets for Calc 2 and 3 and going to take her for diffeq. The tests were reasonable and open notes! She gives reviews with similar questions and doesn't try to trick you. She posts lecture notes online so you could go back to it if you missed something she wrote. There is weekly homework on Webassign and she drops a few of them.
had her for 221 & she was solid. 308 is a different story. very caring, but her personal life took ahold of our entire semester. She wouldnt show to office hours, wouldnt answer emails for 5days-2weeks, & didnt grade anything for two months. We thought she left midsemester. Open note & non proctored so id still recommend in hopes her issues resolve
Dr. Vorobets is a great Diff. Eq professor. The class is hard by itself but she was great at explaining the material and didn't give us any surprises on the tests or quizzes. However she rarely responded to emails and it took a while to get thing graded, but when you could get through to her she was super helpful.
The homework she assigned (Edfinity) was not only excruciatingly long and tedious, but the software in general is awful and not user friendly in any way. It ruined my experience with the class and had to drop it because it did not prepare me for quizzes/exams . Most HWs were barely related to the content and were just a massive waste of time.
Dr. Vorobets made this class so much harder than it had to be. The material covered was fairly straight forward after I had to look up nearly every concept on youtube or google in order to understand it. The lectures made the material more confusing than if you simply learned it on your own. She did not adhere to the syllabus, or ever answer email
The class started out great but it steadily declined as time went on. Vorobets is a good professor overall, but she had issues communicating expectations and deviated from the syllabus a lot. Assessments werent too bad, but they became closed note when material got harder. The homework was rough, often took hours to finish one section.
I had Dr. Vorobets for Calculus III and Differential Equations. She is a very good professor, and gives good lectures. Homework is frustrating and nothing like lectures or exams. The class is very disorganized. She grades very easily, and she is funny, nice, and accommodating. Despite the disorganization, I would still recommend her.
If I could take her for every one of my math courses, I would! Lectures are straightforward and notes are easy to follow. HW is an easy grade booster because she gives unlimited attempts. Exams were similar to the practice exam and quizzes. Doesn't give any wtf/challenging questions as some profs do. Practice! Practice! Practice!
Lectures are strictly designed to teach what will be on quizzes and tests. Occasional quizzes and 4 tests. Weekly homework but I think every prof does this. No trick questions. Everything on quizzes and tests were covered in lecture. Does have a European accent but definitely still understandable. Little to no personality and grades leniently.
Very nice woman, and does seem to care about her students. However, she struggled to solve her own problems and that made an already challenging course more difficult. I had to rely on other professor's lectures and notes to pass. Her exams were open note but you won't have great notes from her. Teach yourself and you'll pass.
Very, very, VERY boring lectures. It was so hard to pay attention because she talks in monotone and does not engage the class at all. That being said, she does not try to trick you when it comes to tests or quizzes. The questions are straightforward. Roughly 3 homeworks due every Friday and those were extremely time consuming.
Dr. Vorobets is just another professor, nothing really stood out as good or bad. The material itself can be difficult to master at certain points in the semester, but she is fair when grading the quizzes and tests.
Professor Vorobets is relatively nondescript, but is a good teacher. You're unlikely to love or hate her: she's fair, she's funny from time to time, she's relatable, but she isn't an outstanding professor. She teaches her content and teaches it well, and I have no complaints with her.
Homework was not mandatory but provided great practice and in-depth solutions. Exams tested understanding of the material instead of trick questions.
Her lecture notes are really good, homework is pretty fair, and she wont surprise you on tests. Solid choice
This professor has very straightforward lectures and tests. She gets to the point quickly. She is very test-heavy, so you need to make sure to be on top of the exams to do good in the class. I took her again for diffeq because, she was a great professor.
Her lectures can get boring but she has her funny moments. Her grades are from quizzes and exams only so that is a bit scary. Her exams and quizzes are reasonable. There is going to be a lot that gets crammed into your head so it good to keep up with optional practice problems she has for you to do.
Vorobets has good lectures, with plenty of practice problems done in-class and some very funny moments. She goes over exactly what she plans to cover on each exam beforehand, never throws any curveballs, and grades fairly. There is no homework, so practice is nearly entirely self-guided, which may work better for some than others.
Dr. Vorobets may seem cold at first, but she is pretty friendly and very nice if you ask questions. Her exams are typically not difficult, very similar to notes and homework. Teaches content pretty well too. It is just a difficult class. Her exams are graded very leniently too. At the very end, I received a grade bump too!
She is monotone in her lectures which can sometimes make it boring, but she always has her funny moments and always willing to answer questions. Majority of your grade in the class is based on exams so make sure to study! No homework, but occasional quizzes/python assignments.
Dr. Vorobets is kind and lectures are helpful because she is good at explaining things. Lectures are recorded and uploaded to Canvas after class as well as lecture notes. The homeworks are short and do not take much time compared to other math classes at A&M. The workload is reasonable and I would definitely take her again.
Vorobets teaches pretty well, she can be pretty funny, but overall she is pretty average. You can't go wrong taking a class with her. She grades generously, is willing to help and fix grades, and she actually cares about the ppl in her class.
Mumbles when she speaks, big language barrier it's really hard to understand what she is saying. Most of the time in lecture she just writers out how to do the problem without explaining how to do it. 80% of the grade is exams yet she gives no exam reviews and hardly any practice problems so its super hard to prepare for. Avoid this professor!
Her lectures lack any sense of conceptual reality, and she often struggles to make it through a single problem without a mistake. However, 308 is just a wonky class to begin with and she lets you know exactly what she expects of you. Also very funny!
Dr. V is so close to being an amazing professor. She is very competent and I would recommend her, but coming from Amy Austin's classes these were not quite as good. She teaches every topic well but sometimes I felt like I had to connect ideas myself. Easy grader, Homework is optional, quizzes out of class. We only had one python HW
Her lectures are sometimes a little hard to follow, she posts notes but not lecture recordings. Exams are fairly difficult if you don't keep up with lectures as you go through the semester. You cannot cram everything right before the exam.
Dr. Vorobets is the GOAT! She is literally amazing! Love love love her. Only reason I'm getting a B is cus i didn't go to class. Her lectures are actually SO good. She goes slow so you can understand. Grades tests leniently. She is also really funny! Took her for cal 3, loved her so much that I'll took her again.
Incredible math prof. She posted the notes after class in case you missed it, and the answers for the homework were in the back of the book to check. The exams were pretty doable, plus she gave us a practice exam that had the exact kind of questions. Also she's very funny
Although I did poorly in her class this was much more of a reflection of me not putting enough effort into her class. Dr. Vorobets was super engaging, lecture notes were super helpful, and the class is not too difficult if you keep on top of everything.
She is one of the hardest diff profs, but she is iconic to say the least. Some of her best quotes are: "Integral slope lines do not like or touch each other... like my kids," "Ur daily astrology: you're all going to die," "The worst thing you can do is go into panic mode (gasps dramatically)", "This class is cursed," "Y is it -3? idk, it's Friday"
Dr. Vorobets is a great. She goes step by step on how to solve each question. She has a great sense of humor. Although the homework is optional, I recommend still doing it and being consistent as it prepares you for the exams.
17% Quizzes, 2 25% Midterms and 1 30% Test, (3% project). She has optional Hw but the questions are exactly like on the test so just do them right before the exam. I gave minimum effort to this class and did all the hw's for the test the day before and got an A wo going to class. However, I did in the beginning and she is so funny, def a good prof.
Overall, she was a decent professor. Wasn't over the top amazing, but still decent. I will say, the class is fairly difficult. That isn't really the fault of the professor though, that's just how the subject is. Attendance isn't required, but she doesn't post lectures online. I'd say she's probably one of the best options for this class.
She teaches the concepts well and I am always a fan of taking notes on the pre-made PDFs. She isn't that hard to understand and she is unintentionally funny.
Dr. V is a great professor. Her lectures can be kind of boring if you aren't into proofs but she adds personality to her lectures and the assignments are not too bad. The exams are nothing crazy and I've learned a lot in this course.
Professor Vorobets was probably my least favorite professor I've studied under so far. Her lectures have no conceptual content to tell us what we are even doing, grades are entirely quizzes/tests, and she has very little available supplemental material. I bought a used textbook, and it carried my grade.
She's an unironically funny and sweet lady. However, her lectures can be tedious, and she needs to correct some copy errors in her notes that affect her answers. She changed our tests midsemester from half MCQ and half FRQ to fully FRQ, killing my test average. She also grades hard on her FRQs, looking to take away points instead of giving them.
Dr. Vorobets is really nice and does her best to makes sure you succeed. Lectures can be very boring so make sure to work on outside of class. 3rd exam wasn't too bad especially if you do lots of practice problems. Will tell you exactly what is on her exams the class day before each exam so make sure to pay attention.
She was alright. I did not learn anything in class, and I just taught myself as I went. It is hard to understand her sometimes, but she is funny. Its a beautiful, beautiful class.
She often pushed back homework assignments to give students more time to study for exams. Her exams were difficult (as one would expect) but fair. This is a hard class regardless of professor. I often walked away from exams doing better than I would expect. Not a bad choice for 251.
Dr. V is an incredibly nice person. Class set-up isn't bad, but exam heavy, like most calculus classes at A&M. She is not a fan of webassign and is quick to help on the homework. She runs the WIR, so the exam reviews are very helpful!
Prof V's lectures can be a bit dry, but she makes the material engaging with her quirky personality. The homework is optional but super helpful for acing the exams. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for exam prep!
Dr. V's lectures were a bit hard to keep up with, but she posts the lecture notes, which is nice. The exams are tough because they are all free response, but she grades pretty leniently. The exams themselves make up like 80% of your grade, so homework (which is through webassign) and quizzes (which are in recitation) don't matter much.
Lectures are not mandatory as she uploads her lecture notes but going to class is very helpful because she explains the material really well. The exams make up most of the class grade and are all free response but she uses the class before exams to review the information and provides exam reviews that are similar to the exam. Take her if you can!
She uploads her notes which is nice. She was just so monotonous and I self taught myself the whole course. The exams are tricky on purpose so study study study for those. She was very generous with partial credit though.
Good lecturer, always came out with few questions. HOWEVER, the tests were consistently much harder than the reviews. I think the average for our third exam was around a 55, so beware.
Tests are very similar to the review, and she is extremely generous with grading. The class average for exam 3 (notoriously the hardest exam for math 221) was a B. I would recommend her if you would just like a good letter grade, but I had a hard time paying attention during lecture due to her teaching style. Great professor though, very nice.
I took this as a freshman 1st sem. I thought the exams were all extremely similar to the WIR's, Reviews, and HW questions. As long as you do them all before each exam it's easy to get an A on the exams. I was told calc2 was much harder and I am sooo glad I listened. I felt this was siginficantly easier than even calc BC in hs. HW is super light to.
Dr. V's lectures explained everything that will be on her exams, and she always posted completed notes and plenty of review material for exams on Canvas. Quizzes were simple, and exams were slightly more challenging than quizzes, however she is very generous with partial credit. Would definitely recommend her class for Calc III.
Id give her a 3.5 if i could. she's just meh. not bad not good. She posts the notes but it's hard to really see whats going on. Exams are worth 80 percent of your grade.
Prof. Vorobets was a decent math professor. There were many times I felt lost while she explained units but when doing homework and looking at the definitions in the notes I felt like it could've been explained so simply in lecture. Her tests are on the lighter side compared to other professors so overall I had a good experience with her.
Dr.V is a really nice person; her lectures cover all the materials needed for the test and quizzes. The quizzes every Friday are pretty much as free as they can be; sometimes the questions are taken straight from the homework. The tests are a little harder, but not too bad as long as you attended the lectures.
Overall, pretty solid option for a calc prof. Her lectures, quizzes, and exams are pretty straightforward and build off of each other. Her tests were all frq but shes def one of the nicer profs when it comes to partial credit. Her lectures are a bit boring but she actually explains things well.
Explains things well, homeworks are alright but can take up time near the end. Quizzes are simple (same level as notes), exams are slightly trickier but use the review resources provided. Rounds up grades.
Do not take her!!! Her tests were extremely hard compared to other content. I was at a 79.8 and she would not round me up. Even after I emailed her twice, she gave me no response.
Her exams were very difficult, her lectures were so bad, just don't take her if you have the option not too.
