Extremely nice, fair, smart, clear and helpful. Gives out awesome outlines for every exam which pretty much list exacly what you need to know, no surpises. Paper topics are so good that you can actually be interested in what you're writing about!

just sit down and listen, taking notes might help in the long run, but not necessary if you're a good listener. text is not necessary. great lady, but marks on the curve. still, one of the best

She is a pretty nice lady. Though, her lectures are very hard. I suggest you bring a voice recorder with you so you won't bother writing notes during her lectures cuz you really need to listen to her while she is lecturing.. when you go home do ur notes!

She trains you well: there's a lot of information packed into those lectures. Every time I wrote an exam, I was surprised at how much I would remember. Definitely recommended.

This teacher is really great. She teaxhes history as if it's one big interesting story, but tends to go a little fast sometimes. Essay topics are interesting and she is a fair marker. Seems to always be cheerful, and is always approachable.

What can you say about her other than she rocks! If you don't take her for history you are missing out big. She can be a bit hard on papers and exams but gets you ready for university. Arguably the best prof at Langara...or any where.

Lang speaks too quickly, but because she gives you the exam questions ahead of time, it doesn't really matter. But god, her smile will make any man melt!

I liked her, but, a wee too many references to crappy movies, ie Cold Mountain, Pearl Harbour, and Gangs of New York, three of the worlds worst movies ever(next to Titanic)

Made the transition to College easier. If you want to learn about History then learn from her. A very nice person. She gives you all you need to do well in the course, all you have to do is study. Sometimes she goes fast in her lectures but you can always ask her later if you miss some notes.

Dr. Lang is the best teacher i have ever had in my whole academic life. The subject is interesting and if you pay attention to her lecuture and understand everything on her handouts then you are guaranteed an 'A'.

A very interesting, knowledgeable and excellent teacher. Do not take this class unless you have some passion for history. You must be extremely attentive during her lectures; if you zone out for 5 seconds, you will be lost for 5 minutes. Overall, Dr. Lang is wonderful.

Excellent prof! Every class was like storytelling, she gets you interested n never bored. I never missed any one of her class coz it was just entertaining to listen to her. She teaches alot in one class so if u miss a class u missed like 3 yrs in history. But she'll help u with class notes if u ask.

Dr. Lang is thorough and clear in her lectures and assignment and exam expectations. She enjoys the subject material, so will you. Ensure you have enough paper and pens each class to write lots of notes - and read all of the readings. Your efforts will be justifiably rewarded. She is superb.

The reason I am now graduating from law school. She was the first prof I had when I went back to school. her passion and dedication really made me want to continue.

Marjorie is AMAZING, she is SO clear (but fast) and she paints history in your mind like no one else. She is passionate and absolutely amazing. She is really approachable and very helpful. You must like history to take it with her, b/c she doesn't have time for people who are not willing to do the material and pay attention.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Top marks for Marjorie. Forget the readings, just attend EVERY class and take notes. Remembers the names of everybody in the 60+ person class, but she never takes attendance or invites a huge amount of class discussion. Classy woman.

Dr. Lang is quite possibly the most interesting teacher I've had. I've never seen someone more passionate about their work, and the way she tells the stories of history is just dazzling. I'm not majoring in history, But I would definitely recommend taking anything with her. She is simply wonderful.

This class is so extremely straight forward. She gives you handouts of everything to pay attention to in the lecture, then before the exam, she gives you a handout on everything you're going to need to know, which basically consists of everything on the lecture handouts. Just take more notes than you think necessary, study them, and you're set.

She is very knowledgable of the course and her lectures, althought sometimes boring are very clear. It's fairly easy to get a good mark, but this is one of those classes where a solid effort must be given in order to do well.

Lang is one of my favourites. She is a wonderful storyteller- her lectures are always interesting. She's rather charming, and stylish as well. Take notes!

Lang is a great prof. She is super interesting and all her tests come directly from the notes. She'll favor you if you speak out in class. Text book is useful for more knowledge on the subject but not mandatory at all. She marks fairly and has fast email responses to any questions. Sit near the front because she tends to talk quietly.

M.Lang is a very good professor and is very knowledgeable. Her marking is fair and exams are not hard if you go to class. you must take notes in class though. dont even bother buying the text books. i did not need to open them once

Dr. Lang is an excellent storyteller and her lectures are stupendous. Time flies, and note-taking is aided by her handouts which provide a structure to organize notes by and give information about possible test/essay questions. Love her class, love her, and thanks to her, I now love History too!

Marjory was an enormous help to me when I took this course. I make a mistake in taking this class, for having not much interest in it, and when I fell behind, she did everything she could to help me catch up and make it through the course. I owe my GPA to her.

She makes history less boring than it really is. She is quite animated when she talks so it is easy to get engaged. You can't really BS your way through the class you have to put in work, as long as you take good notes and read you'll do fine. She has style too ;)

Because of her I love history now! I've attended every single class of hers, and not once was I bored or falling asleep. Absolutely amazing .. take her class!

Amazing Story teller, I found myself hooked on everything she said. Hard yet fair marker, but if you need help, she'll help you. I recommend for any history buff, but for those looking for a GPA boost, stay away! A lot of work in this class! Also recommend recording these lectures, a lot easier then reading from the book and reading notes.

Fabulous Teacher!!! Best to attend classes as she gives loads of information...But is very clear spoken, and easy to approach for questions. Exams are based of class notes and handouts... very fair. Take her class she's just wonderful

Great professor. I learned an incredible amount. Yeah lots of work but worth doing. She is very sweet and smiley, not intimidating at all. Spends most of the class talking, doesn't ask too many questions. Taking good notes is crucial.

Her lectures are very information intensive. The lectures consist of the rare occasions of pictures and then the rest is just note taking. However, you learn a lot from this course and her marking is quite fair. For midterm and final, you should just focus on the study sheet. The textbook reading is pretty much optional.

Wonderful. Deeply engaged in the material, extremely clear and helpful - you really cannot ask for a better prof. Really inspired me to work harder in the course and her lectures are fantastic. Really. She could write the text. You will learn so much in her class and she will support you if you are struggling. I just can't recommend her enough.

Dr. Lang is an incredible history prof. Quality at UBC 3+4th year classes is frequently worse than the 1st and 2nd year Langara classes! Lang is inspiring, engaging and helpful! If you want to learn, take her classes! In British hist at UBC and we are learning less material than in Lang's classes (like skimming compared to what she taught)

The biggest sweetheart you'll ever meet. So happy whenever you talk to her. Exams are hard though because she has to cover lots of material. The writing assignments are worth a lot so make sure you understand. If you love history then she is your prof.

Lang is a fantastic and educated professor. Not only am I excited to take classes with her again next semester, I have been greatly inspired by the sheer knowledge she has to offer. Students do complain that her lectures are boring and monotonous but I beg to differ. If you love history, there is no doubt you will love this class. Work hard, enjoy!

She opened the class up to discussion more than some other profs I had, which is certainly welcome in longer lectures. She knows her stuff and teaches it pretty well. Motivational! Well- spoken and engaging, a rarity in the post-secondary world as of lately. Attend all lectures, reach out for help when you need it and you will succeed. Lectures left me intrigued to further examine a topic, which in my opinion is the mark of a truly exceptional professor. I was never bored to put it more simply ;)

Great teacher. Very friendly, and smart. A lot of the marks were obtainable by effort alone, but the effort does have to be there. She loves lots of research on papers, so when writing your term paper, get info from lots of different sources and it will help you grade. Pro tip: I never used the textbook once

I had no knowledge of history and took this class for just credits . Missed alot of classes and didnt knew a word But she is a total sweetheart. Helped me alot when i told her my difficulties. Lectures are long and boring tho. Try to participate in class .

She provides class-highlights and exam-outlines for us to "maintain" on track; she posts self-test quizzes every time on D2L. If you wish to "boost" your GPA, she is the go-to person!

Dr. Lang was honestly an awesome prof, but it was not an easy class. I found that I had to spend a lot of time combing through the extensive notes from class. However, I learned more about history in this class than any other. Also, she gives a wide variety of project topics, which I enjoyed because it allowed me to look at something I liked.

Cool subject material and I know I learned a lot. However, this was the hardest and most mentally stressful class of my life. Hands down.
