The best prof I've ever had! I build my schedule around her every semester, and this is my third one. Clear notes, great presentation, very helpful, always shows steps, printed out notes, sense of humour. Use her recommended calculator by the way. It's just easier.

Lots of work is required out of this class such as webct quizzes, daily poppers, and homework. Tests are pretty easy. I knew most of the material before taking this class. Overall, you will get a good grade if you keep up with all the work.

I made 100's on every single test. Just take the practice test and show up to class because she does daily quizzes. It's easy if you do the practice test, if you don't, you might get a little lost. I'm asian so maybe thats why I did so well.. lol j/k

she just flys trough the notes you barely have time to copy them yet alone learn them. she puts them up on the web but there hard to understand what she was doing she jumps around so much. you better be right on time she will yell at you an you cant turn in your hw if you try. there are no excusses in this class if your not dead you better be there

I took Mrs. Marks for Mth1314 and 1330 in the fall of 2006. She is very clear on her explanations. If you go to class and pay attn you shouldn't have a problem. she also posts her class notes online. the tests and quizzes are online, and you have a lot of homework. But with a math class that is the only way to learn is to practice. I give her A++

Pretty easy, but not a smart idea to skip because of daily poppers. Posts her notes online so if you happen to have some bizzare "accident" on your way to class, you have the notes online. Kinda kooky/cheesy but in that endearing "oh grandma!" kind of way.

Take Marks. You have to go to class (for the pop quizzes), but she has the notes already outlined and posts them online if you do happen to miss. There are weekly online quizzes, a few tests, and a final. The course is departmental, but she prepares for the tests and homework. She makes everything really clear, I will take her again if I can.

She's a little goofy, but the class is pretty straight forward. Attendance is mandatory because you have homework due almost everyday and quizzez everyday-- both really easy. She doesn't give you a grade, you have to earn it, but she's really easy to understand and willing to help. I recommend her.

Ms. Marks was the best math teacher i had my entire life. I took her for college algebra and she made everything so clear. She gives poppers and class and you have to turn in homework assignments every do so its best to attend class. She also lets you print the notes out to bring to class!!! she was great!

Dr. Marks is a great when teaching precal! I took her for the summer and was kinda worried that i would not pass but got an A-. She funny and energetic when it came to teaching. Since it was for the summer i did brush up on some simple algebra like radicals and basic logs. she really know her math and im really picky about teachers too.

I was hesitant at first about learning math in an auditorium. However, those fears quickly went away. She is really easy to understand and her notes really help. Almost all the homework are similar to the problems done in class. She is very energetic and very lenient to those who slack off.

Took Business Calc with her this semester. You dont have to go to class because she posts all her notes online but there are in-class quizzes that count for 12% of your grade. Do the reviews and get up to 10points xtra credit on exams. No textbook needed, its online. Not a hard class for someone who hates math.

I took her online business calculus class and only met her once, but her teaching style is the same. I am TERRIBLE at math and this amazing teacher just made everything so understandable. Tests are fair and fairly easy. Both her and her notes are so helpful. I recommend her to EVERYONE!!

If you go to class every day and do your homework, you will pass. I took this class as a Junior. I was THAT afraid of math... The math dept is strict and requires homework and poppers due almost every day. I can't say this class is east because it's a lot of work, but tutoring is available daily.

She's a great teacher who really cares about students and where they are going. She's very understanding to any problems you might have during the semester-- I had a friend pass away this semester and she was incredibly understanding of the hard time I was having for a college professor. One of my fav math professors. Very clear, very helpful. She makes up for points lost on iffy test questions. Tries not to be boring. Online text, mainly used to assign HW. Drops 4 lowest HW grades. Gives her own review if she thinks the practice test doesn't cover enough. Speaks loud and clear, posts her notes online.

The subject is very challenging, but Professor Marks does a great job of teaching so that you understand the material. I would recommend her to anyone.

I LOVE HER! she is a great prof. come to class, do the poppers, get 100s on the quizzes and the practice exams(take the score and multiply by 10% add that to the score on that exam material you cover). this helped me a lot. Online Class: OK professor, nothing stellar, explains things in detail but sometimes has a tendency to overlook explaining problems not covered in the lecture. HW+ Quiz Weekly and MANDATORY LECTURE, it's an online class! if i wanted a mandatory lecture, i'd attend one on campus! Popper system (in-lecture quizzes) are cumbersome, why bother?

Very clear explanations, do practice quizzes for extra credit on tests. About 13 quizzes, 30 poppers, 24 hw assignments, and 4 tests to be taken at CASA, you can be exempt from final.

Take this prof. online (if u can), her hw and quiz are a little hard, but it's nothing that she already went over in lecture. The tests are much easier than the hw and quizes. She post everything online and response to e-mail fast. If u want an A for Math, i strongly suggest u take her.

Best Math professor at UH. I didn't take math for two years in high school and I did great in this class. She explains everything very well. 10 pts extra credit for each test (10% if practice test score). I got two 110's on tests. Attend class and you'll be fine. Exemption with 80+ average.

I've put off taking algebra until my senior year because math terrifies me. I'm so glad I found Ms. Marks! She makes everything easy to understand. You have to go to class and stay on top of all the assignments, but do that and you'll be fine. This was one of my fav classes all semester; actually leaving with an A!

Loved this classes. If you don't understand something, she answers your questions and explains it to you. She is such a good teacher! How the class works: 13 quizzes which you can take 20 times each. Practice tests are extra credit on the actual tests. Five actual tests(Multiple choice and free response) and in class poppers. Just do all the work.

Shes a really good teacher. The course starts out easy then it turns into new material. The Only problem I have with Ms. Marks is that shes rushes the material at the end. AWESOME math teacher and I am terrible at math. Keep up with your HW and go to class so you can be exempted from the final. I missed it by 1.4 points but it was totally my fault. They give plenty of opportunities for extra points if you just put the time in.

Very understandable, made it easy. I was scared at first coming into this class, but her teaching method relieved me. I ended up with a 107 in the class, with all the extra points she allows!!!

Prof. Marks is a phenomenal teacher. I hated Calculus, but loved her teaching style. She was definitely very effective in showing Business and Social Science Majors the every day use of calculus. She is very helpful in dealing with computer or calculator issues and definitely knows what she is doing. She is the best Math Professor I've ever had.

I took Math 1314 during spring 2011 and online. I have to say that this online class was a success. I could attend one of the two weekly online session depending on my schedule. The support used, the voice of the teacher and explanations were clear. MM is a good teacher.

She is a fabulous teacher. She answers every student question without hesitation, and she helps you out on any tricky popper questions. She is very helpful and uses humor to make class interesting. I hate math, but this turned out to be a very helpful class for me. She gives hints on how to do better on tests also, i.e. what graders are looking for

Mrs. Marks is 100% WONDERFUL! It had been 14 years between graduating high school and attending college for me. I needed to take remedial math to get back up to speed for college-level algebra, so my confidence was low. Mrs. Marks made math fun and helped bring it all back to me. WE NEED MORE TEACHERS LIKE HER!

Great teacher. Took her business calculus online class. You do have to do the homework, attend class if you want a good grade but Dr. Marks explains the material in a very clear manner. Tests are similar to practice problems so no tricks. Excellent teacher, would take her again in a heartbeat. Very helpful.

Took class online, not a math person, but Prof. Marks really explains everything! If you work at it, attend the live sessions (online class), and do homework - Easy to pass this class!!! (I am 40 yr old student who hadnt come straight from high school with math on the brain---if I can pass with knowledge so can everyone!!!)

Prof Marks is amazing! She's the best math teacher I've ever had. She clearly explained all of the steps to complete problems and made math a breeze! I received well over a 100 in this course and I'm awful at math. If you have the chance, definitely take Prof Marks. You won't be disappointed!

I thought Mrs. Marks was pretty good. Her notes are ok but a little too wordy for me. I am VERY BAD at Math and she did not always explain how she got to the answer she got, but kept moving and ignored raised hands often. My friend was in the same class with Dianne Gross and I used her notes to do hw instead of Mrs. Marks'.

By far the BEST MATH PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. She's funny as hell, extremely helpful, and very patient with her students. I had her last semester for College Algebra and she made it a breeze. Coming from a dude who ABSOLUTELY HATES MATH! Professor Marks FTW!!

She's a straightforward teacher. As long as you show up to class and work the problems with her, it's not difficult. Tests are easier than the practice tests she gives. She gives daily quizzes so attendance is recommended.

She is AMAZING. I have never been success in math before I found this teacher. Because of Ms. Marks, I feel like I can do absolutely anything mathematical. For those people who can't grasp math, this is the teacher for you. If you pay attention, and take notes you are sure to make an A. If I could do it, anyone can.

She is an amazing teacher she knows what she is doing she really gets into the lectures and explains everything so clear i got so used to her style of learning just do the homework, stay on top of the quizzes and also always come to class and do the reviews before the test and you should pass the class with an A.

Online, I thought this is crazy. She streams the videos. A lot of weekly work. Text on her website. Answers questions & final exam can be used for lowest test grade. Got 70,70, & 104. ended up with an A-. Super shocked! Suggest TI 84 Silver & Windows 7 to follow her easy without her translating. Loved her cuz I'm horrible @ math & I got most of it.

This class was awesome! And I would recommend her to anyone! I suggest you come to class because it is an easy A. She only calculates the top 10% of homework and popper scores when computing your final grade. If you do the test review, then 10% of your score on the review gets added to the exam.

She was very helpful.If you didn't understand the work in class she would be in the CASA for tutorig. It was really hard to completely understand in class bc there were 500 enrolled. I was kind of scared take this class because it had been six years since I took College algebra but she made sure I knew the info.I had to work the problem first

At first, it seems like this class has a lot of work with the homework, poppers, quizzes, and tests but it is actually easy. She makes math enjoyable with her optimistic attitude and awesome people skills. You will not regret enrolling in this class as a freshman!

Excellent professor! Clearer than ANY teacher I had in high school; she explains everything very clearly and in a way for everyone to understand! I HIGHLY suggest her to anyone taking college algebra! Fantastic class! (even better-- she gives extra credit for test grades based off of online practice tests, up to ten points!)

Explains in details step by step in an almost school style. Organized. Clear. Somewhat boring sometimes. Weekly quizez online and tests for every chapter with practice tests online that give extra credit. I think this course is perfect for freshman. If you do your work this should be easy to get B+ or above. I STRONGLY recommend taking this course.

Ms Marks is an excellent teacher! She explains the problems clearly so that you can understand them. I would recommend her to anyone who has struggled with Algebra. Poppers (short quizzes) for attendance. Practice tests give 10% extra credit on your tests. She even has tutoring hours during the week to personally help you. She's the best!

Ms.Marks was a great teacher. Math at UH just sucks. She explained things very well and did her best to keep the class under control even as rude as some of them were this year. Made and A and it wasn't that hard, but you'll want to spend time with the online lessons and especially quiz reviews. Do that and the exams are a breeze!

Awesome professor! Daily pop quizzes, she gives you the answers half the time. Class was really easy, never studied, just did the homework, quizzes, and I got A's and B's on the tests. You HAVE to buy the book, it's online but you use it for ALL the homeworks. It's annoying to have to go when you've taken algebra in HS, but she's an AMAZING teacher

Very easy class. You get multiple attempts at taking the online quizzes, homework is simple, and definitely do the practice tests because they help a lot! Easy to get an A. She's very nice and helpful.

If you want to take an online easy math class, take Business Calc with her online. Piece of cake! Barely tried, made an A! And math is my weakest subject..

Enjoyed Professor Marks' class. Took the online course which was super easy. Professor Marks is really good at her job, this lady knows her math,as long as you attend the classes you can learn a lot from her.

easy class as long as you go and write notes on the print outs she provides. its a lot to keep up with (online quizzes, hw) but test are just like practice tests and you can easily get 100s

She's extremely easy, clear, and straight forward. You earn extra credit, that will be added to your test grade, from taking the practice test. She provides notes online for every class and I recommend that you print them every time. The homework is easy and there is an optional final. HIGHLY recommended!

Her lectures are very clear and easy to understand. If you don't understand something she will help you out. She makes class somewhat fun, as fun as a math class can get. Her class is really easy. Just go to class and stay on top of hw and quiz's. You get up to 10 points extra credit per test if you take the practice test. Easy A

I took her for 1310 Fall Semester 2012 - 2013 year. She's really easy and as long as you just go to her class, you should get at least a 90. Poppers required. Homework due the day after every class. Tests are almost exactly the same as the review.

Algebra. Super easy. She's clear about what she expects. Lots of little grades, but they make it easy to get an A. She moves fast in class, but always answers questions. Really nice. No complaints at all. I'd recommend her!

The tests are not hard, she doesn't try to trick you. If you take the class online, I'd suggest doing as many as the online meetings as possible,.

Very efficient prof w/ a funny sense of humor. Great at explaining the material & is receptive to questions. She's also available at CASA for extra help. Math & I don't tango but she made it really understandable & doable. Attendance is mandatory & can be detrimental if you miss class. Highly recommend her for any math subject.

I've had better and worse prof's. She was rushed every class and exp'd alot of technical problems. Explained work decently. Work was fairly easy if you're good at algebra. Poppers everyday, 25 HW and 14+ quizzes with 4 or 5 tests. 80+ GPA exempts you from cumulative final, but final will replace lowest test score.

Really clear and consistent. I hate math and I normally don't get anything but she made this a breeze. The online chat can be distracting and also made me weary to ask questions, but it was my only option to take it online. Online practice test was exactly like the tests. Final is cumulative and there are no exemptions. But super easy, take this.
