Very easy! This teacher is very good at explaining things so that anyone can understand them, you can redo tests and homework, plus, homework can be turned in anytime, as long as it's in before the test. Great Teacher!!!

Definately recommend taking him for calculus. He explains things very well so everyone can understand. He answers questions every class period and is available to answer questions outside of class. If you don't mind doing homework it is a pretty good chunk of your grade. He lets you know what to study for his tests also.

DO NOT believe what you hear about him being rude. He is so helpful! I had such medical problems during the semester and he was an Angel and worked everything out with me! I can't tell you how awesome it has been to have him as a professor, I plan on taking him for Calc 2 as well! Pre-calc was what I had him for now.

He is SO helpful! I stuggle with math but it was SO easy with him. he doesnt assume you remember, think you should know or skip ANY steps. Goes over everything very throughly and gives a million examples. 4 tests and a cumulative final- do the study guides he puts online!! it's almost EXACT to the tests!!! I wish he taught my other math classes!!!!

Mark has a knack for taking the complicated problem and making it look so simple. His ability to explain problems exceeds any other instructor I have every had. His grading is generous (forgiving, really) and he knows his limitations as well as the software's. He is relateable with a very easy going and laid-back personality.

This is one of the best classes i took at Normandale. At first he seemed to be talking to much but then as i got used to him it all made sense.If you do your homework and understand them then its an easy A. He is very helpful in answering questions in class or in his office. He also is lenient in grading, best teacher for any math class.

Mark is a great teacher! He knows statistics well and he puts it into real life situations so you can grasp the concepts better. He is very knowledgeable and full of intresting facts and stories. You will want to come to class just to here him rant! He writes a lot on the white board and also puts problems and study guides on D2L. Highly recommend!

My first class with Dr. Ahrens, and it went very well. Calc2 is a prereq, but we did very little integration. Mostly learned how to use technology to analyze data. Fun class, great teacher, I learned a lot.

Extremely smart and kind teacher. On the 1st day of school, I attended 2 math classes in the afternoon and both teachers refused to add me to the waiting list. Finally, I sat down on an evening class with Mr. Ahren and he was willing to add me to his class even though the waiting list was full. It was a small act of kindness that I won't forget.

This is a statistics class, which requires a lot of time when you try to solve the problems by hand. To make your life easier, Dr. Ahrens will show you the basic methods by using calculator and other software. Stats is dull sometimes, but it's interesting to take it with Dr. Ahrens.

Professor Ahrens is really helpful and very nice. Attedance is madatory because his teaching methods simplifies all the problems compare to the book's methods. There are no trick questions on the exams. Study hard from the homeworks, examples from class, and practice exams and you'll succeed! I would take another math class with him!

Professor Mark is an awesome teacher. I would say that it is really important to go to each class because he explains everything and tries to make sure everyone is getting it. I would not take any other teacher for stats!!

Ahrens presents material in a very clear and succinct manor. The amount of homework assigned is very reasonable. He is more than willing to spend class time answering any and all questions. I'm not a "math person" and I received an A without having to devote my entire life to the class.

I go to St. Thomas, but I've got to say, I have yet to have a bad professor at Normandale taking generals classes here since they're cheap. Ahrens was a wonderful Stats prof and you could tell he cared about his students and about the material. I suck at math, but I ended up getting a B in his class. He made the material easy to understand

Marks a good guy. I got in a bad car accident during the semester and he was great about it, helped me catch up and didn't penalize me for missing the days. He is super approachable and always nice. Very easy going, he is a guy you would like to work with. Definitely take his class.

Took his Intro to Stats class. Got an easy A. As long as you go to class you'll do fine... Tests don't feel like tests. You basically just analyze some problems that you basically did in class. Great teacher, would take him again if I needed too.

Mark is a great professor. If you show up, do the take home assignments, you should be fine. Some students take advantage of the fact that he doesn't take attendance, and although he will take late assignments, I don't recommend you make it a habit to skip class.

Mark is great guy and an awesome professor! He lays out exactly what will be covered on the exam and the homework is very fair (not too much, not too little). I took this class in the summer (I'm not actually a student at Normandale during the year) and I was very pleasantly surprised!

Mark goes in great detail about statistics. He is always laughing and having a smile in his face. If you do skip class, you would be extremely behind by how fast his class accelerates in a day. His multiple choice tests can be quite tough. But having second choice for an answer really helps out. Definitely would love to have him again.

Mark is amazing! He won the Outstanding Educator Award this year and I now know why! He is very personable and understanding guy and knows what he is talking about. I didn't have the best time in this class because the material was hard to understand but Mark tried his hardest to explain it clearly. 10/10 I would have Mark as a professor again.

Was a great teacher. Gave me so much one on one time when I asked for it. Never made me feel stupid for asking multiple questions. For someone who hates math this wasn't my worst class this semester.

He's a very good teacher. He goes through problems step by step on the board. If you don't understand something, he'll help you out. As long as you go to class and do the assignments, you should get a good grade.

omg. i don't even have enough words that can do him justice the best proffesor i have ever had. he made statistics so easy and a walk in the park. gave extra credits on exams and made sure you understood everything. anybody who wants to take stats 1090 and 990 please go for him you will never regret it and you will thank me later.

Mr Ahrens is one of the best professors at NCC. I suck at math and was nervous to take stats in the summer. But Mr Ahrens made the subject so easy to understand and really cares about the success of his students. I recommend to take him for stats, especially during summer sessions because it is easier than you think it would be. He is AMAZING!! :)

Mark is AWESOME! summer session 3 exams, HW for pretty much every chapter, easy if you are following along with the chapters or lectures. He doesn't make you feel stupid or seems bothered when you ask him questions. I think he likes it when his students stay and ask questions. if you take him during normal semester, he might have you do projects

As long as you show up and participate/pay attention during class, I don't see how you couldn't pass with an A or B. Basically all of the examples we do in class are seen on the exams. I took this in a summer from a different school and was SO MUCH EASIER. Great professor. He is willing to help if you ask.

There's a test every other week at the end of the week, so make sure you go! I took the 8 am class, so there was quite a few classes I skipped, and didn't do so well on the tests following them. But, all the homework/textbook is online, and you can teach yourself, basically. You do have to pay $100 for the online textbook, though! He's very funny.

Mark is a really nice teacher and he truly cares. He will help you when you ask him questions. He is really good at replying to emails as well. He will also tell you what will be on your tests.

Very relatable and realistic. He understands the material very well and is able to teach it at a very understandable level. He gives you a second choice on multiple choice questions and will give you half credit if your second choice is correct.

Overall, this was an average math class. I would recommend to buy the textbook code for homework, Homework can be done online or turned in but i would recommend choosing online because you get multiple chances to get it wrong which helps. I never touch my textbook and It does not include calculator directions.

Mark was such a chill professor. He definitely lays out all the tests for the students. There are no surprises! He's not super picky with grading either. What's important is that you understand the concept of stats. Do the homework and practices in class and you will earn your "A".

Mark was honestly the best professor! He isn't a tough grader and he truly does care about his students. I took the summer course and I was nervous about it but I ended with a high A. He gives worksheets that are from past exams so you know what to expect for the real exam. If you're looking for a stats prof don't look further & take him!!!

Mark is truly a caring/respected professors in the math department who tries to make math fun and understandable. I had him for the summer session and to be honest it was a lot of work at the beginning but once you know his style it will make sense to you. He is a fair grader, it depends on how well you put the effort in.

I took STATWAY Statistics 1 with Professor Ahrens in Fall 2018. I thought it was by far the easiest class I'd taken. He explains the concepts very well and goes over the homework at the beginning of every class. It was hard to pay attention sometimes because he tends to ramble on, but if you have questions he'll take time to make sure you get it.

I would have gotten an A, if I would have done some of the other homework. Was taking a really hard class with this one and all my attention was super focus on the other one. Mark is such a good teacher. Most relax and chill teacher I met. He doesn't grade hard. As long as you do the work in class, ask if you need help. You'll pass. Promise!!

Mark is super kind and actually wants to teach you. If you pay attention and ask questions he is always super helpful and you will get an A. If you have the chance take his class! He handled online classes beautifully. Recordings are always available along with notes, excel spreadsheets, and any possible resources you would ever need.

Mark was great. Preface I took the course online. 5 tests, including final - not proctored. Weekly HW, you are allowed to turn HW in late, though not recommended; it adds up quickly. Overall, not too hard or easy. Study for the tests and do the HW, and you will get an A. Mark is relaxed and cares about the course. I recommend him to everyone. 10/10

I took Mark for statistic modelling, and he was great. Recorded lectures of example problems that pretty much followed the homework problems. No tests, only graded on homework. Responds in an instant. Talks really slow, I recommend speeding up lectures. Really helpful when you don't understand something, though. I recommend!

probably one of the smartest teachers ive ever been taught. doesn't give you questions from nowhere, and is very clear and tells you what to expect. doesn't waste time by teaching you something you don't need. no extra credit, so what you do is what you get. incredibly smart and has the best ways of making you understand. def would take him again

Greatest professor I've ever had- very knowledgeable and caring, explained everything very clearly for someone who is horrible at math. Take him if you can. One tip would be to speed his lectures up if you're taking an online class as he talks very slow but that can be a good thing as well. Wish I could have him for every math class!

Mark is the best!

This professor is charming and responds to emails quickly. Weekly work consists of an assignment, textbook readings, and watching pre-recorded lectures. Tests are not complex at all if you understand the material. He is very clear about what is going to be on the exam, what is not, and how many questions. Very flexible!

One of the best professors!

Mark is a great professor! whilst he can be a little boring at times, he teaches the info and makes sure that everyone understands. At the start of each class he asks if anyone has questions on the homework, he goes over ANY problem that people want help on (sometimes even spending 30+ min). There are 3 exams and the final is not cumulative.

Mark is the type of professor that you should seek out. He teaches in a way that allows you to learn flexibly. Learn best from lectures? Listen attentively to them and he will cover absolutely everything you need for all the assignments. I have not opened my textbook once after 2 semesters with him. Mark will kindly discuss at length any questions.

Mark is so sweet and kind. He's willing to answer any problems in class that people would like clarified. He makes it known what's going to be on the tests so nothing is a surprise. Attendance isn't mandatory so when I didn't attend class I wasn't really missing anything. Just do the homework and practice tests and you'll be good!

I received a D in math in high school, so I didn't expect much. But Mark is on a mission to change the trajectory of students like me, transforming us into skilled statisticians! He's incredibly patient, kind-hearted, and an outstanding educator! His classes fill up quickly, but they're absolutely worth getting on the waiting list for!

Mark is one of the relaxed calm professors and tries to help you succeed in the class in any possible way. He helps you to be perfectly set up for the exams and helps with any questions you may have. He's an all-around great professor!

Would recommend taking this class even if you don't need the credit, I learned a lot. Will extend hw deadline if asked, no retakes unless extreme circumstances. Got extra credit for wearing a Halloween costume.

Really nice. Provides good, clear feedback, and is just a kind person. The textbook he uses in Stats 2080 was also a really well written textbook with good examples and explanations. Taking this professor made this class easier and gave me space to actually understand and enjoy the material taught.

He takes a complicated subject and makes it incredibly digestible. Incredibly well made lectures and very on aware of his students despite it being an online class. Very responsive to emails. Forgiving on deadlines as long as you do the work. Has a very calming energy and overall a phenomenal teacher.

The course has 9 hw assignments and 4 exams (20% each) which are all on Achieve. Mark is a nice teacher and gives extra points on exams. He posts videos every chapter and goes over some of the hw questions. However, I still think reading the textbook/taking notes is important as all the questions are based off the textbook (it's a lot of work tho).

Ahrens is awesome! He Helps when needed and has tips for every math problem to always remember for exams. As long as you do the homework and practice exams you'll get a high grade!
