Prof will entertain you and at the same time he will show you a new side to Literature. I recommend this Prof highly- he is the ****:)
THIS PROF IS THE BEST. HE IS MADDD FUNNY AND HE EXPLAINS IT SO CLEAR THAT U GOTTA BE AN IDIOT NOT TO KNOW WHATS GOING ON.
he will enterntain u hes easy but very strict if u want to walk out to use the restroom he will make u sit hes young energetic he will make u laugh but is not easy to get along with kinda weird!!
The professor, even though funny and entertaining, is somewhat unapproachable. He is quite arragont and somewhat mean at times. On the other side, he does have a great ability to explain the readings and makes you think about the stories. I would not take him again though... :-(
There are 15 min essays almost every class to ensure you did the reading. There is a paper, a group presentation and a FINAL EXAM! He makes it clear to you he doesn't care about you grade, wont make any effort to get to know you and your grade is based on waht is in his grade book - no extra credit

Only a few books needed for this class. The prices are fair. He makes boring books fun. He's young and doesn't bite. Visit his office and get candy. There is a group presentation and a paper. There are journals to quiz you to see if you are doing the assigned reading. Be on time. No eating in class!
Very demanding!! But you will learn a lot if you apply yourself. One of the sweetest professors I ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Tall, lean, young, energetic, funny, what can I say? This professor was very nice to look at. He makes the class fun and interesting which makes you look forward to going to class. The books are cheap and the final is easy. Oh, and he paints his toe nails.
At first Alpert will seem like an a** but don't drop! Few weeks after it will be the easest class. You do have to read but it's not boring. He has many crazy comments but are not to offend anyone. Don't annoy him or it will be hell. And he's not bad to look at girls. I highly reccomend this prof.
keep up with the readings and this class is a breeze. participate and enjoy the class. first week sucks but once you get going and don't give him any**** it's all downhill from there. take his class
Alright people, stop stressing this guy like he is gold. The truth is this just make sure you read all the time and you will be alright. The class is not hard at all.Yes he is funny, but a rude funny. He is rude and strict. If you feel you are ready to be in a strict environment then go for it.
He's cool and down to earth. He keeps it real so don't step on his painted toes and you'll be golden :-). He comes off as a hard a** in the beginning but he'll come around. He makes literature actually readable. I had a blast with the group presentation, make it funny and make him laugh and you're i
Man, Alpert is cool as ish. At first you think its gonna be hell, as you go on, he makes you laugh ur azz off while you learn. If you need help or not, go to his office, he actually has good candy for you. I just bought him some Jolly Ranchers, so ask for them. He might have issues, but he's down with the people. Im taking him again next semester.P
Prof. Alpert is AMAZING! He is a little bit crazy and dramatic but it's more of an act and his animated personality makes the class really fun. He is very funny and actually very nice and helpful ifyou talk to him. You have to do the reading and the class is not a total breeze but he makes it hard to fall asleep so if you're there you will pass.<3
What a professor...he's great.
Listen up..This teacher is like no other, he deserves to be sweated. Most teachers are dull and boring and Alpert is no where near that. He's a teacher that will be your friend, and yea i know we all have enough friends but one more won't hurt..A lot of reading is done in the class, but hey it's literature and that's def not boring.Take the class!
On the 1st day he was a big jerk, but it was just to get rid of the kids unwilling to work. After that he was great. Although his class isn't easy he makes it fun and interesting. Just keep up with the readings and you'll do fine.
this guys is such a flippin jerk. beware! if you can avoid him, do so. he thinks that students are only taking his class. he does not grade fairly either
Professor Alpert is amazing...I loved his class so much...He's really great and wants you to do well...He's always willing to help...His sense of humor takes getting used to but once you do, you'll enjoy the class a lot more...
It doesnt take much skill to read passages from a book. Thats what he did, mostly; or the students read them aloud. Didnt really learn anything in his class. Felt like I was at a reading group. I rated him high, because he didnt do anything!
He made the class fun and was a very understanding professor. His teaching style was not only refreshing but unique. There was a lot of reading aloud but at least u can not be docked points for not participating.
The class was never ever boring so you wont fall asleep. But you do have to read because he does give a test every class based on what you read. At the end of the semster you have to give in a 5 page paper, one group project and a finial explaing 10 characters of each book u have read. Not a boring class but you do have to do work.
alpert is a rockstar and a genious!
Great proffesor with a great sense of humor to keep you awake!:P
A great teacher. He encouraged class participation.Actually,he forced class participation by calling on students to read aloud in class. The discussions were thorough and in-depth.The work is definitely challenging and time consuming, but, college is supposed to be challenging.Do the reading!! That is the key to success in his class.Prof.Alpert Rules!

Professor Alpert is the best! That is all there is to it... if you said something bad about him, then you did not do the work required. This class is a pipe dream! He gives the least amount of books of ANY literature class and they are easy. If you do the reading and keep up on it you will pass. The presentation is your chance to be creative.
ALpert is interesting. You defenetely won't fall asleep, but he is demanding. Make sure you read the books 'cause he gives quizes. a group presentation and a 8-10 page paper. He gives you candy when u go to his office. You read all da books he assigns, and makes you read. PARTICIPATE!!! he gets 2 know ur name... YOu r in good shape.
He seems like a jerk at first, but he is wonderful. It is true he does not help you with you writing, but he makes you go to the writing center which is a great help. Very fair and competent.
He's good teacher

This guy is the worst teacher in history please dont take him unless its ur last resort...he is a jerk & will fail u if he doenst like u
He is knowledgeable and fair. As long as you do ALL of the reading(quizz every class) you will do well.
this guy is a complete jerk worst teacher in the history of college, he ruined my life, cant beleive he is still teaching
Prof. Alpert was just ok. He was a huge jerk most of the time and classes tend to be boring. He graded most papers extremely hard and whatever you did was not good enough. Needless to say if you do your work I guess you should be fine. I got a B+
very sarcastic. can be entertaining
he's very sarcastic..can be a jerk during class..classes were boring ...you don't learn much and it's pretty pointless...I got a c even though I did all the work
this teacher is the devil that wears clothes. DO NOT take him he is sarcastic, will put you on the spot, and doesnt care what you have to say at all. If you take him you will be more than regretful.
HE IS VERU SARCASTIC BUT FUNNY. HE GIVES JOURNALS RANDOMLY AND THE WHOLE CLASS IS BASICALLY READING OUT LOUD AND HE WILL CHOSE RANDOM PEOPLE. OVERALL, NOT BAD ALTHOUGH HE CAN BE A JERK BUT AS LONG AS YOU READ, YOU'LL BE FINE. AND YOU CANT GO TO THE BATHROOM OR ELSE HE WILL MARK YOU LATE (EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE IN CLASS ON TIME).
He is very sarcastic (if you don't like sarcastic people don't take him). if you do like sarcastic people he is a great professor. He is very funny and willing to help if you ask him but he wont ask you if you need help. The class is great if you learn really well by listening as all the parts he has read are used on his tests.
Pretty much a sarcastic jerk but he was entertaining. Class was ok but nothing amazing. Got an OK grade even though I tried hard.
HE WAS FUNNY BUT HE IS VERY HARSH ON HIS WORK LEVEL
The best professor I have yet had the opportunity to learn from. At first he comes across very hard. It would seem that he would be a difficult person, but he is very fun and hilarious. The readings will be done, no matter how you carve it. He is a difficult grader, but if you are going to school to learn, this is where you want to be.
Yes, he can be a bit of a sarcastic jerk, but he has renewed my interest in the subject to the point of researching more about what we're reading just for fun. I've learned (and cared) more about the material in this class more than any other. Just make sure you've done your reading or you WILL suffer.
He is sarcastic and I was kinda scared the first day of class when he set all these crazy rules. But all you have to do is read what is required and you have pop quizzes in class sometimes on what you read but they're open notebook so it's pretty easy. Just do the readings and everything else that is required.
Warning!!! This guy is horrible. Not a fair grader, he's very arrogant and only cares about himself. Some of the readings were interesting, but he acts like we are in Harvard. I would not recommend him even to my worse enemy!!
Stay away from him- im pretty sure theres better professors you can take. if u miss a journal you CANT make it up and the final paper is 10 freakin pages long. Then theres a group project you must accomplish and its stupid and accounts for a high % of your grade. you will regret taking this class and u HAVE to go 2 the writing center for lectures.
STAY AWAY! Prof alpert is way too harsh of a grader, I thought I deserved at least a b or b- and he gave me a c-. he makes you do a group project which btw is impossible because its a commuter school and everyone lives far from each other. thinks hes gods gift even though he went to Queens College. DO NOT take if you want a fair grade.
Really unfair grader, gave me a D, expected a B. DO NOT TAKE HIM. you will be sorry. obnoxious and thinks hes funny but he gets sympathy laughs at most. do yourself a favor and just stay away.
First day he comes in flips a desk and yells THIS IS NOT HIGH SCHOOL. Not very professional.
He comes off as a scary professor out to ruin your life. He knows he has the power to. Just do the readings, make sure you have an idea of what your talking about, and you will do fine. Just participate as much as humanly possible, study, and show him that you care, and you will do well. It's going to be a long, hard semester if you take him.
this teacher is a very hrd grader.the asignments must b handed in ontime, they r proofread with some tips to imprve ur writing, nothing is graded until the final. he will hand you your assingments ASAP and for the final you will have to re-write everything.NOT AT ALL A Ez GRADER.HE IS vRY'NIT-PICKY" he is very funny tho and makes classtime enjoyable.
This guy! I hate literature, but I'm learning so much in his class. He's an amazing teacher! He's super funny, very comfortable with the class, true class leader. He doesn't really like cell phones and is very strict about attendance, but to get the info you have to be there!!
He is very specific with his syllabus pay attention to what it says and you will be fine. Greeat sense of humor, show up, do teh readings, do you final paper and final exam and you wil be fine, also he requires journal entries about the readings.
Do not take him. He is very very specific and picky with everything. He says its hard to fail his class, its very easy because he grades extremely hard. More than half my class failed, so if you want to take him, good luck. He's a GPA killer.
He is a good teacher, he cares about your GPA and your money and you learn a lot from him, he is very smart, but his tests are so hard to whom who do not have any idea about chemistry. You have to work hard in his class,to get an A or B, so if you plan to take Chem 2 you should take him definitely :)
He is a tough grader, if you want a good grade you will have to work for it. And yes, he is very picky with how he wants your papers done. The syllabus is very important, read it, understand it and don't miss any classes. He is funny though, and makes learning fun. Also very smart guy. I learned a lot from him. Gave me a B+.
Strict, demanding which many lazy students perceive as "mean." Good teacher but not clear with his assignments, automatically assumes everyone is lazy and hates lit."Attitude" makes him unapproachable and unhelpful. As he says its his job to teach not to help. Leave personal problems at home, can be the perfect prof if he had better social skills.
this guy is the worst teacher ever. Not at all understanding with anything. the most sarcastic teacher i had ever encountered. his assignments do not even make sense. As soon as i show up i want to leave. DO NOT TAKE HIM, you would want to ring his neck !
This proffesor is STRICT!! In his class you MUST read the books that he assigns because he'll assign papers frequently hence the word "writing intensive". He strongly recommends his students to go to the writing center for normal assignments but for the final paper its mandatory otherwise he won't accept it if he doesn't see a receipt.
This is my second time taking Alpert, and i must say he is one of the smartest professors at JJ. Most think he's strict and harsh, but thats because he's forcing you to learn. I can honestly say i learned so much from Alpert for the two semesters i had him, mainly for my writing skills (which he helped improved). If you want to learn take Alpert!
If you like literature he is great, but consider your grade first. He is a hard grader because he wants to help you improve your writing skills. He is very sarcastic and hilarious. I enjoyed taking him. On the first day he plays this role where he doesn't care to teach only because he wants to see who will stay in his class.
Best Prof Ever. Very neat with everything he does. You will LOVE and enjoy the class as long as every student participates.
Ok guy. Good at explaining text but very hard grader. The smallest mistake mean the biggest drop in grade. Not a lazy student get As and Bs spends days working on paper and got d's. He will be the professor to ruin your GPA. Not very approachable. Give a paper after every book. Have to read outload in class everyday. I wouldnt recommended taking.
I honestly can't believe he has any good ratings. It's impossible to do well in his class. . . the workload is ridiculous, and the guy has an 'out to get you' attitude.
This professor is very good and interesting. BUT a very HARD grader! Fails your papers for any simple mistake. Everyone in the class diid not get better then a c- on their papers. iIt is a shame I never had worst grades in my college career
If you value your GPA, do yourself a favor and choose another professor. I currently have a 3.7 GPA and I have to say this is probably the worst professor I have encountered. He critiques everything, even your class introduction. He demands way too much and even if you support your hypothesis with fact, he tells you your opinion is incorrect.
I have no idea how this guy has any positive feedback. The only thing I can say is stay away, he changes his mind as to what he wants AFTER he grades your paper with an F. When you explain to him you followed his syllabus, that's not good enough. Honestly just stay away.
I have taken courses with difficult & demanding professors in the past, but he takes the cake & wins every award for worst professor. His syllabus is 11 pages long, he will give you an F if he doesn't like your paper & scheduling an appointment with the writing center & getting proof of the session is mandatory for him to even read your final paper
Alpert is the worse professor I've had - ever. Can't understand how he is still employed as a teacher. His "teaching" methods are terrible and you will walk away with nothing more than frustation - nothing learned. His feedback is useless. Note that I did well in his class, so my review is not out of spite for my grade - just a heads up.
Prof. Alpert is one of the best professor's at John Jay. He makes every class interesting. Many students consider him mean but that is only because they are lazy. This professor takes his class very seriously and keeps his students on top of their assignments. He is a tough grader but he encourages his students to attend the writing center.
Alpert is an amazing professor. He will set the bar high and those that work to reach his expectations will thank him. I thought LIT would be boring but Alpert is extremely funny, I've never laugh so much in a class. An "A" may seem impossible, but if you work hard and seek help, it wont be. He doesn't show it but deep inside he's a great person.
In order to pass this class, you have to visit the Writing Center at least twice (one for a workshop, one for the final paper). The class is straightforward but don't expect a high grade unless you adhere to EVERY point of his standard. Minor mistakes in APA style leads to a significant grade drop. His condescending personality doesn't help either.
Do not take this professor if you want an easy A. He gives out response papers (He calls it journals) whenever we complete an assigned reading which 2-3 pages but his final papers are intensive (8-10 pages). He assigns so much that he got me exercising my brain to handle heavy work. A REALLY tough grader!!. Going to the Writing Center Mandatory
Gives bad grades not an easy professor.
Professor Alpert is very funny! He is very passionate about what he is talking about. With that being said he is not an easy professor he actually expects you to work for your grade as all professors should. I would recommend him if you need the class but not for an easy elective.
I'm currently taking professor Alpert and he is absolutely the worst professor I ever had. His standards are set way to high and he critique's everything you write about even if its your opinion. I recommend no one take him if you value your GPA. His assignments are very time consuming and the books he chooses are very boring.
Currently taking this class and I have NEVER been so dang discouraged my whole life. If you don't want to seem like a failure, do yourself a favor and don't take Alpert. Sets the bar way too high. Don't expect extra credit. What you submit is what you get. Also he's borderline inhumane. If you tend to use the bathroom a lot, DO NOT take him.
Honestly, I just finished the semester off with Professor Alpert. I honestly believe he is a great professor. He is a tough grader but if you work hard enough you can do well. He is so funny also! People who are lazy will obviously not pass. We had four readings and four journals to write. No final exam. Just a presentation.
His expectations are way to high for what's supposed to be a basic Lit class. His criteria for his final paper is crazy. There's not limit for quotes, but If it looks like you using too many quotes, he won't even read it to see if there's a purpose for them. It's not difficult, but he is. Seems his in person classes are much better than online
Professor Alperts assignments are not difficult as long as you read. I had him online so we had discussions due every week, a journal due whenever we finished a book and then a final exam. He also refuses to read your final paper if you dont go to the writing center. Dont take this class if you worry for your GPA and dont have time to read
Professor Alpert isn't the worst professor in the world, but he is definitely up there on the list. His class is not difficult, but he is. He is overly sarcastic and an unbelievably HARD GRADER. If you have nothing else to do take this class, he expects you to focus only on his class for the entire semester.
Good professor, of course in order to pass his class you must work for it. but the class is not very hard, we read books such as the great gatsby and stuff but the only challenging part is the journals, he makes you do 1 per book (3 total) plus a final paper where you use two of those 2 books and one criminology reading. other than that easy class!
In Aperts class you will be PUSHED beyond your limits, VERY HARD GRADER (comparable to masters level grading). If you were a "A" student, this class will make you have doubts about your abilities. ADVICE: 1. participate in class 2. read the text 3. must be at class everyday 4. go to office hours. This class was VERY DIFFICULT, but rewarding!!!!!
Professor Alpert will really have you thinking outside the box. He is a very understanding and caring person but to get a gist, all he asks for his students to do is: PARTICIPATE, Do the weekly reflection papers that can not be more than two pages and then there is 3 analytical papers followed by a presentation for the end of the semester grade. :)
I agree with the person who said only take this if you have nothing else to do . He expects you to make this your whole world and counts things that arent absences as absences . If you dont go mandatory tutoring a certain amount of times , if you go to the bathroom etc . He takes no regard for individual circumstances s
He won't let you use the bathroom. It will count as an absence. You MUST say good afternoon to him, or he gets upset. He is a very hard grader. I do not recommend him. He will ruin your gpa. I'm used to getting A's without a problem, but he makes it impossible to do that in his class. He is very unapproachable as well. Do not take him.
Please stay away from this class. He is very inhumane and disrespectful. He will make you feel very intimidated and uncomfortable which interferes with your learning. He grades very difficult and I've gotten D's from papers that I've put my all into! PLEASE DO NOT TAKE. I really don't suggest, too many requirements for no reason! Had to drop.
So Alpert is a professor that doesn't play around. He definitely makes you work for your grade. The papers are really hard assignments and he grades hard but you'd be amazed on what you can write. The books he gave are very interesting and inspirational. His class has made me realize a few things about life. Even tho it was hard, I'd do it again.
I regretted so much for taking him and I wasn't able to drop his class because of my financial aid reasons. He is so disrespectful and makes you feel uncomfortable in class. He is a very very tough grader. I put all my efforts and even took the tutor's help for the paper and still got C. Beware of HIM folks.
Professor Alpert is a good professor but he is not a easy grader, so if you are looking for an easy A I recommned you look someplace else. He does try to make the class intresting and his choice of books are really intriguing.
Prof Alpert is a really great professor. The classes are fun but we did 3 books in 1 semester. So, prepare to read read read. Just expect to put in the work in order to pass this class.
For those looking for an A, this is not the class you want. You will have to sacrifice other classes to work on this one alone. Homework every single week, 3 reflective papers and a presentation. Doesn't sound like a lot but you can put all your effort and still get a C on your assignments. Could be rude at times and put you on the spot, beware.
Very intelligent professor. He makes you work for your grade since he is a tough grader. He is very funny and keeps up with pop culture references. Participation and attendance matters in this class. He makes offensive jokes, so don't take anything to heart since he is just being humorous. Be prepared to work in this class.
just listen and follow all assignments that he gives BY HIS DIRECTIONS and you will do great. he's funny and he's straight forward. his class is by far very intriguing and interesting. be on time and make sure you never miss an assignment and you'll pass with flying colors. NO QUIZZES AND NO MIDTERMS.
Professor Alpert is funny, however, he shields on sarcasm to shame other students. His lectures are okay. I feel like I would've learned or done better if it were an online class because he gets off-topic too often and therefore you loose the meaning of what he's saying. & lastly, I think he needs to work on being more reliable to his students.
Worst prof, unhelpful; a tough grader especially when it comes to APA citations. You can have all the answers correct but if your citations are incorrect he will give you an F. He assigns things as if hes the only Professor we have. Dont take him if ur a full time student or else you will be very stressed. 3 books, weekly Q&A and DB, 3 essays
This is the best professor I ever had,his work pushed me so much, and made me a better writer. Keep in mind: your grade isn't given, it is earned! Follow instructions and your grade will be good! He keeps it real, has dark humor, and is a great teacher. Take him if you want to learn to become a better reader and writer!
PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND FIND ANOTHER LITERATURE PROFESSOR BECAUSE THIS PROFESSOR WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY AND COLLEGE IS ALREADY STRESSFUL. He will ALWAYS find something wrong with your work even when you did good. He is too much to deal with. P.s : If you work and go to school he will add more stress to your life (DO NOT TAKE HIM)
Had him before covid, overall his work is hard, lot of APA and readings, he explains the readings well. He's funny too! Class is ok, but he's STRICT about class time. I had to get out of my previous class & run with my friend to his class most times. At the end of the semester we had a group presentation as a final for anyone whos shy.
Prof. Alpert challenged me greatly and I appreciate a professor that truly wants his students to learn. I don't think it's difficult to follow his directions when submitting assignments. Seriously, if you wonder why you got an F, you're doing something wrong. Read and reread his syllabus/directions and you should be good. You earn your grade here!
If you are looking to learn take him or if youre looking for an easy grade, skip him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, even if you need the credit. Not an easy A. He gives too much hw and a very tough grader. If there's one error in your assignment, he penalizes you for it. His readings are super long and what he expects in his Q&A's are ridiculous. I haven't written a review but I just had to warn other students about him. STAY AWAY.
You're graded on class participation so better be in class. 3 papers that are heavily graded and Q&A's all the time that are decently hard. It seems like if you follow all his feedback, he is never happy and don't really expect an A on the assignments and definitely not the papers.
Great Professor! He really knows how analyze literature. He is hilarious with it too. Definitely recommend. However, he is very strict on your attendance and participation and following deadlines and format of assignments and email. He will layout specific rules in his long syllabus. And you have a hard time getting an A. But, he is great a teacher
Listen up, this professor is known for breaking in freshmans and setting the standard for how we should be working hard. The things we discuss and are required to learn are very interesting and really break you into the criminology world. He has a keen sense of sarcasm which many can enjoy but very strict about lateness, bathroom use, and phones.
This professor is a hilarious guy and he enjoys making people laugh. His work can indeed be challenging, including his analytical papers. When Professor Alpert grades your work, he points out small mistakes on your assignments and deducts points for them. If you are always on time, and you do the work he tells you to do, then you should be good
Professor Alpert is a great professor for freshmans. He is very strict in terms of bathrooms, lateness, but he genuinely wants you to succeed. He clearly states everything in his syllabus in order for you to be successful in his class, but one thing I sure will tell you, if YOU WANT AN EASY A, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. He is a very strict grader.
Prof. Alpert broke me down and built me up as a student. He changed the way I read and write, for the better. I put so much effort into his class and it paid off. He cares about the work, and his students. I will take him again if given the opportunity. I will take the skills I gained from his class with me to every classroom in John Jay and beyond
He's a king tbh. If you hate him you're not real xoxo
While this professor is mildly difficult (at least for me), he truly wants his student to learn! I learned so much from him and if you really aren't into the class it's simply because you're not putting in the work... Furthermore, this professor is so funny and will take the time to meet with you and go over things.
He can come off as very mean and it's very hard to see through that let alone learn through it. The workload is extremely heavy and he makes you hand in physical copies at the beginning of every class . The workload was very heavy and I couldn't maintain so I sadly had to drop it.
Professor Alpert is a hard grader. However, he genuinely cares for his students. To do well in his class, take advantage of his office hours, participate a lot. He might seem scary in class, but he is genuinely one of the best professors I had. He really pushed me in writing. If you want to go to law school, his class the one to take.
tough grader
This professor is a very hard grader, and it is hard to get an A in the class... He can come off as rude and passive-aggressive. But, he gives genuine advice on how to improve your writing. Although he does this, I would not take this professor again. I would only recommend this class if it is a requirement for your major.
Don't do it.
Will never take this man again. He is extremely strict, sarcastic and sassy. Paper due every week and harsh grader. Participation is very important and he will call you out and embarrass you if he wants to. He was very harsh but gave us good advice and wanted the best for us. The stress was not worth it though!!!!
Professor Alpert has high expectations, but if you put in the work, you'll learn a ton. The workload is heavy, but engaging with the material and using resources like Unstuck AI for study prep can really pay off. Not an easy A, but a worthwhile class.
One of the worst professors I've ever taken, if you care about your grade, choose someone else!
not gonna lie if you have this professor RIGHT NOW and you're actually considering taking him, FREE YOU FREEEEE YOUUUUUUU.
Professor Alpert abuses his power as an educator. He puts his students down when they arrive a few minutes late, and makes comments like, "Good luck getting a job later in life," and, "When you're flipping my burger patty after college..." I cannot believe Jjay hired this condescending and narcissistic POS. Very embarrassed to attend this school
Prof Alpert has high expectations for his students and genuinely wants us to succeed. He can be a little strict with assignments but the feedback he gives you is useful and as long as you follow the intructions and rubrics he provides, you'll succeed. Enjoyed having Alpert as a professor, he's funny and explains the material well. Discussion-based
If you want a professor who is compassionate or sympathizes, do not take this one. He is condescending and rude. HOWEVER, for all these faults, he IS a good professor. He makes you think, participate, and my writing has improved with him. There is a lot of reading, and a paper due almost every week, but if you can push past all that, go for it.
He's a sickening person.
