Very kind, smart and likeable. He made math fun.
He is a very fun teacher, he has a great heart. Take his class, its cool
The only bad thing about his class is the amount of busy work. But he does make class worthwile and fun. He obviously cares a lot about math and his students.
Easy class, and pretty fun for math. Take him!
TAKE HIM!!! He is the best math teacher i have EVER had. I usually hate math but he makes it so much fun. It really is not that hard, classwise casue he gives you lots of time and lots of opportunity to do well. Just do the packets and hw
great!
He is the best math teacher I've ever had. I hate math but he makes it easy and fun.
For anyone who has to endure taking a remedial math class, Arvidson is great on helping one brush up on those math skills. Time goes by very quickly and he's always willing to help if you have any questions. (p.s. he reads children's stories in class...)
He is a great teacher. He makes math fun and is really good at explaining.
math land, second happiest place on earth.
Reads childrens books as examples and spiritual tools, clear and fun teaching!
Arvidson rules
He was nice enough, but hard. No freebies here, the tests barely resemble the review sheets. Requires a HUGE time commitment. A lot of busy work.
FAVORITE MATH TEACHER EVER! Arvidson is the best. I think he grades fair and is always there to help you. Very intersted in your well being and wants you to succeed in his class. He keeps class fun and is very entertaining. Take him if you can. Nicest Guy ever!
Dr. Arvidson is pretty nice, but has strange mannerisms. He is one hard grader for this class. You have to show every smidgen of work or no points for you. Also, there are so few points that you can miss a couple of questions and you're already in trouble. I have a 3.9 gpa and I barely have an A!
this teacher is soooo cool. He has a great sense of humor and in uses it in his teaching. you have to put a lot of commitment in studying but thats what the math center is for!!!
Very fun and helpful professor. Very anal about showing work. Tough grader. But overall good professor.
I took a class from him two years ago. I learned so much! I just took the math section on the CSET and aced it. I would not have passed without the thoroughness of this class. It was a lot of work, but they payoff was worth it.
is an awesome teacher. makes class fun and really teaches everything with clarity. is very leniant on due dates, and if you miss homework lets you make it up. is an awesome teacher adn your learn a lot.
Arvidson is AWESOME!!! His fun teaching style not only aids you in the class but is helpful once you begin teaching. The work is hard, the tests are hard, especially if you are not good at math like me. Overall, the class is excellent, the teacher is superb! You rock Arvidson!
Every class was interesting and fun!
Arvidson was hard, but I had SO MUCH fun in his class! I'm just not good at math!
Son of Arvid is one of my favorites!
Tough grader and requires A LOT of work, but he's a really good teacher, I learned more about teaching techniques from him than from most other education classes. He's intimidating at first, but really cool.
Was a great teacher! Really enjoyed the class!
His class was a lot of fun~
good teacher, lot of work, be sure to be careful about your work, grades hard!
O.K., Math sucks, but Dr. Arvidson is awesome!!! He is seriously one of the best teachers I've had. He is a creative teacher and it is obvious that he cares about his students.
He was really fun..... Lots of busy work with your packets... but thats about it
Teaches the concepts as if presenting them to elementary students - gives you awesome ideas for teaching techniques, plus is very clear and helpful in helping YOU learn the math. Is very happy to help you outside of class. Ties God into the lessons, challenges you to grow spiritually, and reminds you constantly "you are what you teach." Amazing!
Funnest math class I have ever been to. Hands down, Best Teacher ... best MATH teacher.
I'm not good at math at all, but he teaches math in a very creative way so it is easy to learn. Very good teacher...
Arvidson is not a very helpful prof. I love how he read us stories once a week to break up the annoying math. I had to take this class because my SATs were too low, but I already knew how to do everything. It was so boring to me and another thing...he makes you do 3 hrs in the math lab three times a year. All your hmwk is online and so is 1 test.
homework is all done online, weekly quizes, fun extra credit packets which look like elementary school workbooks. he always tries to relate math to the bible. he's a good guy but he's a little intimidating.
three hours required for tests. weekly quizes, homework done online. three chapter tests. he's really fun and creative, but intimidating. his tests cover very little of the homework or reviews but are mainly drawn from the questions and examples he writes throughout class.
This guy is great. I saw a review saying he's intimidating, but it's merely because he's quirky. I sought help from him outside of class, and he always greets me warmly and seems genuinely interested in helping. He reminded me a good 10 times while helping me "It's no problem, I work for you." If you don't like math, don't hesitate to take him.
He is by far one of my all time favorite teachers. He made a subject that I found dull and difficult into a class where hard problems became easy. I also loved how he incorporated stories that involved God into it. i wish he could always be my math teacher!
Dr. Arvidson is a really good teacher. He wants his students to succeed and will do everything he can to see it. His extra-credit packets look like stuff I did in 3rd grade but they're easy and can actually be kind of fun. If you want a teacher who makes math interesting, take him.
DREADFUL!!!! He only teaches you half of the lesson so when you go to do your online homework you fail it because you never learned it. He puts on the facade of a fun math teacher who loves his students but in reality he is unapproachable and unfriendly.
Nice guy, but if you screw up on tests then you will fail. Hmwk is all online and must complete review packets before each test. I got 85% and above on all hmwk but failed class twice cause I couldn't pass his tests. Also required math lab hours as well. Good teacher Bad tests and tested weighted tooo much.
I'm sorry, but I don't take math courses to be lectured for half an hour on how great it is people are being punished by God or being guilt tripped into heaven. If I hadn't been a Christian, this guy would have completely turned me off to it.
If you are not good at math or if it is something you struggle with, you WILL NOT pass this class. He will fail you without blinking. Go to Citrus and take it over there for 1/10 the price and get much better instruction. He is very unapproachable outside of the class. If you don't test well, don't take him. Save yourself the time and money.
Do NOT take him....will not help you if you are not understanding the material. Take anyone else becuase he does not care about all of his students
DO NOT TAKE HIM
Such a horrible professor, go to citrus for all math courses because if you have to take him...you will die because he is so grumpy all the time and simply does not want to work with any of his students.
Not bad at teaching math but loves to tell you about his ultraconservative views and his Wheaton college days- oh boy
Wonderful teacher!!! Im terrible at math, hence I had to take Elementary Algebra...but Dr. Arvidson make everything very easy to understand! He is extremely helpful and a very nice guy! Take him if you can!!!!
He is a great prof. people dont pay attention and that is why they fail no because of the prof!!! you need to stay on top of things and ask questions if you need to but overall he clarified everything i needed!
he always says "I work for you". He's there to help and makes things easy to remember.
One of the best math teachers i have ever had. He is very encouraging and believes everyone of his can succeed. It is a fun class he is a really nice guy plus he reads you a children's story every week.
Professor Arvidson is a very good teacher, he made alot of sense with math. I am so horrible with math and he helped out alot. I dont know about his upper division classes but he is a great teacher, i would say take him if you are able to!!!
awesome prof! i learned so much in his class and he is absolutely hilarious. just make sure you do the homework well because he grades it based on each step for each problem. study for the quizzes and those will help a lot. tests can be tricky but if you go to the review sessions its very useful! take him if you get the opportunity!youll love it!:)
He is super cool, great sense of humor, excellent teacher, makes everything super clear and makes sense
he is awesome, super cool, great sense of humor, best math teacher ever
Amazing teacher, he is very clear and is able to explain everything perfectly. He is also willing to help if you need anything. Don't buy the book if you can get the access code for the online homework.
He is a very funny prof. will read a children's book every week to class & relate it to life. tests are not super hard, but somewhat tricky enough to make you think. wish he taught college algebra :(
Funniest prof ever! This guys is a man after God's own heart and he is so so helpful. He's a servant of the Lord, a fantastic teacher and he just wants to help! Take him if you can, you won't regret it!!
You can tell he loves his job. He's one of those amazing professors that you don't want to dissapoint. He makes you want to go to class and explains things very well. He also is very encouraging and prays in class at least once a week. Take him! You won't regret it
You can tell that he loves Math & his students. He really wants you to succeed. He will teach math in such a way that you will remember how to do the problem. He really knows his stuff & how to teach it & how to explain it to the students. He reads children books in class. I wish that i could take another class from him Take him You wont regret it!
Great prof who loves Math & God. Depending on your definition of easy, this class is very well manageable. Just do the work of course, & you'll be fine.
TAKE HIM! Probably the best math teacher I've ever had! You won't regret it. If you have a hard time with math you will love this professor!
Excellent Professor! He explained the material well and connected the topics to teaching in the elementary classroom. He is a very fair grader, you just need to stay on top of the work. He is definitely an inspirational teacher!
He is the best math professor I've ever had. Extremely relatable and helpful. He treats his students as little kids at times but other than that he is an awesome professor who really knows his stuff. His tests and quizzes are easy if you put the work in. Highly reccomend if you want to learn.
Arvidson is the most helpful, caring, humorous, and God-loving professor. Even though calculus was hard for me, he was always willing to answer my questions and spend extra time with me just to work on homework problems. He want his students to succeed and will help you in any way he possibly can. He is by far one of the best professors I've had
Unless you want to find yourself feeling clueless after attempting to jot down notes and looking up to see two types of problems already skipped ahead, then I would advise not to take this class. He teaches 3 hours of material in an hour class. This isn't an easy subject and you find yourself sitting in tutoring teaching yourself. Do not take!
Arvidson was my favorite teacher this semester! Definitely take him. He's really funny and makes the class enjoyable! Just make sure to do all of the homework and practice many problems before the test. If you've already taken calculus, this course isn't too bad.
Arvidson is by far my favorite teacher at APU. He is funny and helpful. He truly takes an interest in his students and really teaches through Christ's love and compassion. Best teacher you will ever take. 100% do take!
Arvidson is the BEST. No other teacher puts this much effort into his class. He is totally willing to help whenever you need it and he is very clear about every concept he teaches. Math isn't my favorite subject, but he made it fun and taught his class why it matters.
The class was not difficult and I was worried I would be bored in a teaching elementary math class, but Arvidson made things interesting by presenting them in fun ways. He always comes to class with a smile on his face, and you can just tell he cares so much about his students and the character they are developing.
My time in Dr. Ardvidson's class was very enjoyable, and also very productive. He found a way to make math entertaining. His personality is one that naturally made students want to listen to him. He truly cars about his students and wants them to do well. He invited us over to his house for a home-cooked meal with his family, just to show he cares.
Tests are very difficult, and the questions on the exams are not much like the homework. He is a very fun and energetic professor but is a fast teacher. Goes through the material very quickly, would not recommend if you are a slower processor.
Arvidson is a great guy, but If you are not good at math, then you will have a difficult time in his class. He moves pretty quickly and assigns take home quizzes with sections we haven't even gone over in class yet. His lectures and homework don't have the same question structure, so this makes it difficult to do well on tests.
Arvidson is my favorite professor! I had him when I was a Bio major for Applied Calc 2 and for Math for Elementary Teachers when I switched majors. The content he teaches is challenging but he is always available to help and is very approachable. He is such a kind person and is funny as well. As long as you do the work and study, you will pass
Such a fun guy with a heart of gold. But like previously said, if you're not amazing at math, you'll struggle on exams. Mainly because they're so different than what is seen on homework. But if you take the time, you will do just fine. He is very available when you have questions. Just ask!
In the beginning of class, he prays and sometimes reads a children's story and relates it back to the gospel. This is so inspirational as he really ties together math and Christianity. I had a B/B+ throughout the semester, but I expressed to him my desire to get an A, so he worked with me on what to study. PS: Go to his house for the class dinner!
Loved taking this class. I definitely recommend this professor. 10/10 would take again.
Pretty good professor. Integrates faith into his teaching regularly. He is kind of out there, but not too uncomfortable or worth taking someone else because of it because he really is good at teaching the material. If he notices something about you (fuzzy socks w/sandals) he'll mention it every time he walks by your seat lol
Amazing and inspiring teacher where you learn more about life than math. Incredibly hard grader and you have to work SO hard to pass. Take Ding instead, you will understand what you're learning and you will pass!
I had him for math concepts for Secondary Education. He was genuinely the worst. I will be avoiding Arvidson at all costs. He assumes we all want to teach exactly like him, and plays extensive mind games throughout the entire semester. Should NOT be a hard class, but he goes out of his way to make it stressful for all of his students.
Arvidson made math fun, and is really funny. Some of the stuff he had us do seemed like it was of kids. Overall good professor.
Arvidson is probably the best math teacher I have ever had. He has set me up for success in my future math classes. He makes class entertaining and uses examples that you will remember. He is cheap, so the textbook was only $10 and was used for review. I would without a doubt take another class from him.
Dr. Arvidson makes math enjoyable, especially when the lesson is difficult to understand. He genuinely cares for his students and like he says, "he works for you." He is always available for help and will flex his lesson plans in order to ensure the overall success of the class. A great professor overall, I would highly recommend.
People like Professor Arvidson are why I have always enjoyed math. He teaches in a way that is extremely understandable and he has fun while he teaches. He pokes jokes and reads children stories before class. He is an excellent teacher and an outstanding human being.
Arvidson is a good calculus professor, however, he is very conservative and constantly preaches his conservative viewpoints in class. He is always preaching about his dislike towards planned parent hood, taxes and the LGBT community. If he just lectured about calculus he would be fine but instead he uses class time to impose his political views.
LOVED Dr. Arvidson! He is a real gem and he always finds a way to make class amazing. 100% would recommend.
I like his lecture, he always can find the best way to teach his students.
Professor Arvidson is the GOAT. His wit and humor makes Calculus decently fun, and he truly wants all of his students to succeed and do well. He constantly relates Calculus back to real-world scenarios. He also reads you Dr. Seuss, which is pretty awesome. Take Arvidson for Business CALC!!
Arvidson is a great math professor. He's clear on his lectures and makes sure that no one is ever left in confusion. He's very caring and really has an appreciation for God and his students. He does give out group pop quizzes but usually you'll get used to around the time they'll come. He's hilarious and makes math concepts memorable.
Dr. Arvidson realy cares about his students. He tries to make class interesting and fun. He also gives out several good pieces of life advice, in addition to giving several helpful teaching examples. He does sometimes give unclear directions, but if you ask questions he will clarify until you feel comfortable with any assignment.
He tries to show he care about his students but in reality, he does care at all. all he cares is your course evaluation end of the semester. that's why he invites people to his house for dinner. I do not recommend him. Also, if you struggle in math he is not the professor to take.
Arvidson makes it hard to pass, and he can be condescending. If you're sensitive or bad at math, don't take him. When the class doesn't do well on a test, he gets impatient and says things like, "A lot of you messed up, and I really don't know why. I went over this, did I not?" His teaching is okay, but he's hard on students. Take that as you will.
Alright. I literally hate math with every ounce of my being. I'm a liberal studies major it really is just NOT my thing. Arvidson surprisingly made the class so freaking fun and is hilarious and does a pretty good job teaching, most of the time. He's passionate about math and learning, and truly cared for us. I highly highly recommend!!!
Im horrible at math but having it all online was awesome! He does story book readings on Thursdays before class which is nice.... but beware he tends to get personal and it may seem like he is bashing his special needs son. Its sad. :(
This professor is very funny and is entertaining but I did not find his teaching style the best for my learning. He based a lot of his teaching on premade powerpoints and used a lot of examples but did not really teach the material. There was so much homework every week that I did not think was necessary and it was just busywork.
Arvidson is truly inspirational and starts each class period with a children's book and then depicts how it relates to the Bible. I have learned significantly in this class and would 10/10 recommend taking Arvidson. There are only two papers!
I took his math 150 course. He is an awesome guy and I had a lot of fun in his class. The tests are hard so make sure you study and understand the material. He was open to test retakes so if the first exam doesn't go as planned don't panic he will work with you on it.
I am not even in this guy's class but multiple of my poor friends have had a terrible time with him. Several of them have experienced him making sexual innuendos with his comments, he spends the first half of class reading children books and not teaching, and he gets off topic quite a bit. WARNING, do not take him!
It was his first time teaching Calc 1 in a while, and it showed. Many of the problems on the homework would be things he did not teach, and the textbook was not helpful. And the tests were just a different demon. The final was also just the Chapter 4 test, with entire sections of things he did not teach at all. Good overall, just very unorganized.
Dr. Arvidson was not a good professor. He was mean to my classmates as well as disrespectful. He got mad at the class when we didn't do well on the tests. There would be things on the test that we never learned in class or he would mention it and then never talk about it again. His test were really hard and gave too much homework
