Nice prof.. nice guy.. tests seem pretty easy so far.
Very helpful, his tests are exactly what he teaches in class. If you pay attention in class you may not even require the textbook. The tests are fair and he even throws you some free marks (e.g. Who is your TA? [2 marks]).
This prof is pretty funny, and fairly clear.
Lectures are clear and he makes class about as exciting as a calculus class can be. His tests are straight forward (nothing 'tricky' or unusually hard... just know what you're doing). The textbook he uses is completely useless though so make sure you attend all his lectures.
He made Calculus and fun as possible...If you pay attention in his classes and do the assigned homework you will walk away with flying colors...He is very helpful when needed and responsive to emails!
super fun guy, probably the onyl teacher that can make math almost sound fun, he was nominated for a teching excellent award but i never checked up to see if he won it, he deserved it for sure though
The quizezs were really straight forward- half written half multiple choice. Nothing shocking on them. You write quizzes in class so all tutorials are used for extra help. I hate math but he taught it well enough for me to understand it.
He's a very fun, engaging teacher who understands the material. The only downside is that his midterm and assignments were particularly difficult. Other than that, he is highly recommended.
Great teacher in a tough subject for us non-math folks. Clear in explaining concepts, and makes applicable examples, which really helps if your not a math genius. The final was next to impossible compared to the rest of the course, but I think it was scaled reasonably so it all worked out. I'd recommend Mark for anyone looking to get through 249.
he is the best for math249 especially if you're not the math whiz type. makes the concept easy to understand. is there when you need help. but do sit in the first few rows, your mark will improve and also for math 249, do not stay in the class where you can use calculators, if will screw you over, trust me
Great guy, loved the course, but, a warning: don't expect him to go easy on you. The assignments are *hard*, and the tests are *long* and they could be on anything covered in the lectures, no matter how obscure. Oh, and when he tells you something *won't* be on a test, do not believe him. Once he included material he told us would be left out.
Awesome prof! Gives explicit notes and explaination for everything, even if you're not a math whiz you can do well in this class (given that you attend the lectures and work through the problems of course!) Best math prof I've ever had!
Mark Bauer was probably the sole reason that I passed this course. His lectures were easy to understand, and he actually took the time to explain concepts that students had trouble with. He is also really helpful when it comes to needing help with homework because the tutorial instructors are horrible for this course.
Easiest math teacher I've ever had. Exams were easy, notes were neat. Very 'in order'. He's my favorite math prof.
he was very good, he gave so many examples in class that i only cracked the textbook twice i would advise not even wasting the 120$ on it since he gave you so many in class examples his quizzes were pretty fair for the most part and the midterm wasnt too bad as long as you studied but the final was impossible but all the calc classes are curved
Bauer is rad. He knows 217 is just a review of Math 31, and tries to make it as painless as possible for everyone. He'll be helpful if you need him, which you won't. Pretty funny too.
Mark Bauer is a great instructor. Very good in his teaching and very approachable. His notes are pretty good, so don't buy the textbook (its a waste anyways). The only flaw he has though is that HE DOESN'T know how to control a class. Like honestly, more than HALF of the class would talking soo loud but he wouldn't do anything about it!

hes a cool cat
Great prof...always willing to help and very easy to approach...made this class seem super easy, he knows that not a lot of people like math so makes it entertaining...good guy
He's an awesome prof. He's really through and always does plenty of examples, and he makes sure to ask us if we understand the material before he moves on.
For those of you, like myself, who simply hate and don't get math, this is the prof for you. Mark makes things as simple as they can get. He posts past quizzes and midterms so that you can prepare better. And on top of it all he's super cute and funnny. Great prof!!!

Super helpful and makes calculus fun and easy. Midterm was so easy but quizzes, assignments and final was so hard. I got a 94 on the midterm and 30 on the final just to show you. But wouldnt have passed the course without him
Solid prof. Did his best to make calculus understandable to everyone. An A is definitely doable provided you don't fall behind (do your own assignments)! I didn't really use the textbook since his notes were good and relevant to the exams.
Good prof. Wish he didn't do Webwork, but teaching was solid. Very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend this guy.
Bauer was my favorite professor this semester. His lessons were well-organized, concise, and as simple to follow as I could have hoped for. What set him apart was that he was always available when I needed extra help and clarification, and he was always patient enough to understand where the real misunderstanding was. Highly recommended.
Awesome prof! I dropped the course the first time, and did well the second time thanks to him. He makes class as interesting as calculus can really get, and he's funny! The final is ridiculously hard next to the midterm, but it's curved fairly in the end. Webworks sucks though... but take it with him!!
Hes probably the best prof you can get for 249. He teaches super clear and makes sure everyone understands. I would recommend him to anyone!
Prof = amazing Midterm = amazing, Assignments = amazing, Final = BRUTALLLLLLLL
The best prof on the planet! Makes the course fun, funny and interesting. I hated math before this prof. Easy midterm and final. Good assignments. Finished the course with an A- overall.... AMAZING! If you can get Mark Bauer at all.... DO IT!!!
Professor Bauer is an amazing teacher! He knows the material very well, and he keeps his students very well entertained. His tests are relatively easy provided you do enough examples (he publishes past midterms and finals). If you get the chance, take your calculus course with him.
I found Mark Bauer to be an excellent Calculus teacher. One of the very rare combination of a professor with excellent writing, crystal clear speaking, kindness and respect to students. I recommend taking any Calculus class with him -- it is a shame that I can't take him for my next calculus class.
Mark is my absolute favorite prof. I hate math because I am so terrible at applying it, but it is my favorite class because he makes it so enjoyable to be there and he explains concepts very well. Definitely an excellent prof if you're not a math person. Makes good notes to take down and very helpful without being judgemental.
I hate math and dont get it at all but Mark makes it really easy to understand. Take this class with him if you can!!!
Mark really is everything you want in a calculus teacher, he is very clear and enthusiastic. Very approachable, and will help you understand things you never thought you could have. His midterm was very fair, however my ONLY complaint was the extremely difficult final. Fit your schedule around getting this guy, you won't regret it.
excellent prof. get this guy if you can.
I never tried to understand the course cause I hate calculus, but it seemed like he knew what he was talking about. By doing whatever in this course, I still ended up with a C-.
I think Dr. Bauer was a really good prof. He explains everything clearly and answers all questions. The only thing is that he doesn't cover everything we need, and sometimes we were surprised by some of the questions the TA was doing in the labs. Overall, he is an okay prof and recommended.
Good prof. He's very enthusiastic and has a great sense of humor. Sometimes he doesn't cover everything you need to know so tutorials are helpful. The textbook is pretty much useless. Sometimes he expects you to know things that you haven't been taught and in that case the tutorials are the biggest help. Recommended.
Makes math semi interesting, he loves Math and it shows. Very helpful and has personality.
Such a good prof. It is refreshing to have a prof actually wanting his students to do well and not make everything ridiculously hard. He keeps things interesting and even though he's a new prof, he is one of the best I've had. Take his class for sure
One of the best profs I've ever had! This guy makes someone like me, who dreads math, love it! He's a natural, everything he says is easy to follow and he cracks jokes along the way to keep it interesting! I recommend him to anyone!
Awesome prof! One of the best I've ever had.
He is a pretty awesome prof, he cracks jokes and keeps you interested, kinda makes math fun :).His final was hard, at least I thought so, because he over simplifies all the answers in ways he never explained in class.
best prof ever! If you have a hard time with math classes, take it with him!!!
Great prof. makes calculus interesting (if that's possible). very clear, funny, and knows which areas to spend additional time on. A+ !!
I had to repeat 253, the second time around was much more enjoyable with Dr. Bauer. He is really funny and makes class enjoyable. He teaches Calc really well which really impressed me because I hate math. I would highly recommend him or Dr. Gour (spelling?) for Calculus.
Awesome prof!! He makes the boring topic of calculus interesting and engaging. Very good at explainiing and does not hesitiate to assist you if you have questions. If you have to take calc take it with him.
Awesome prof!! He explains concepts extremely well, and makes calculus seem like simple math. I actually got excited to go to class because he always kept it so interesting. Posts practice midterm and final exams that are very useful in letting you know what kind of things will be on the actual tests.
Calculus 2 with him is very easy. I got easy A. Midterms and final are very easy.
Best prof you will ever have. Hilarious, knowledgeable, and able to break down complicated course material in a way that actually makes sense. Lectures are always full because he's THAT good.
Great prof! Midterms, and final are easy, with no surprise questions. 2 Midterms, and 1 final. Keeps you entertained in lecture. Only need to attend tutorials if you need help. Online homework is easy as well. I recommend taking this course with him, because he teaches it very well. Notes up on blackboard as well.
Mark Bauer is a very good prof and keeps the lectures entertaining by cracking a lot of jokes. Midterms were fair, but the final is much tougher.
Dr.Bauer is a good prof. He makes class a lot more interesting compared to other profs. Most of the material is covered in class, but some of it you need to review through the HW assignments. Overall a good prof. Study for the final!!
Great professor! keeps you entertained. Midterms and final were really easy. Online HW was really easy as well. Overall a great professor.
One of the best teachers i've ever had in my whole life, very funny, keeps calculus interesting and lets you know everything you'll need to know for the midterms and final. really wonderful prof. Tutorials are NOT mandatory and homework is easy but helpful.
Good Prof, however, does not teach you the stuff you need to know. Two midterms were easy and I had 85% going into final and the final was brutal!! All the questions were brutal. Do not take this course if you don't have to because the prof does not prepare you at all for the final!
Made the boring topic of calculus actually seem quite interesting. He is very helpful and very clear in his teaching. The midterms were fairly straight-forward, but the final was absolutely brutal. I felt totally unprepared for it despite putting in many hours of studying.
A fun prof, whom I would definitely recommend. Good about answering questions, and understanding what is asked. can be a boring class if you are ahead, but he is great at teaching it
Great math prof. Very helpful and clear in lectures, and keeps things entertaining so it's easy to pay attention.
One of the best profs I have ever had. I had to re take this class because my last prof was so bad, and it feels like I am learning everything for the first time. He is entertaining and makes the class enjoyable all while being a great teacher and explaining stuff very well. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Mark out of the two years I've been here has been the best prof I've had. The course material is challenging, but he breaks it down and makes it easy to understand, would recommend anyone to take his class!
He seriously is the best prof. I have ever had. Only his class is worth getting up at 7am for an 8am class. The online quizzes were difficult but doable. The online videos he posts are super helpful. His midterms are fair and the final was not too bad either. I would 100% recommend his class over any other math class no matter how early it is.
Mark is seriously the best prof to walk this earth. He's such an angel and he really knows what he's doing. Don't be scared to ask him questions he will explain again and again.
Mark is a great prof but the course itself is really hard. If you're not a math person, you would definitely need to spend a lot of extra time doing practices, attend labs and get a tutor. There are prep 101 sessions that he is against but I feel they're really helpful. The tests are fair and assignments are harder than what is given in exams.
Great prof, unfortunatly for me I'm not a morning person and I did dose off a lot during his lecture, but when I was awake he was clear and went through the material well. If you're not a math person go to a prep 101 session, they were good I don't see what he had against them. But I really recommend him.
AMAZING!!!! Honestly, take it with him you will not regret it!I wish he was teaching all the math courses I need to take.
I withdrew from calc the first time. Bauer had a way of teaching that I just understood. He didn't over complicate the material.
The Class: Harder than CPSC 413. Pure MATH Galore, Proofs. 4 huge assignments worth 10% each. consist of proofs, Must be LaTeX and Java programming. 3 recommended textbooks The prof: knowledgeable but not that clear. Sometimes confuses people by messing up. Doesn't fill in empty portions of online notes. so if you skip you better have a friend.
Very cool course, and Bauer presents it in an engaging way. Expectations were clear, even if the material was difficult. Bauer is knowledgeable and really likes to make sure everyone understands.
Best ever
Excellent professor
He's very funny and make lecture interesting but notes are hard to follow as he uses templates from the textbook. But this course is pretty straight forward. Just a tough course overall so be prepared to study hard for exams and do the homework from scratch.
He doesn't focus on the theory in lecture very much, he just does lots and lots of good examples and shows you how to work through them. He also gives you time to do some examples on your own. BUT the 50% final was so so so hard and it destroyed everyone, they had to lower the passing grade to 25% just so the majority would pass the course.
He is an awesome prof, really cares about his students. He is funny and even with the boring math he still lightens it up with jokes. Best prof this semester by far! If you struggle with math make sure you get this teacher!
Mark is really funny and a fantastic prof. He skips theory so you don't get confused and makes the course as easy as he as possibly can. If you forgot calc 1, review limits because he obviously can't spend time to re-explain. The time he gives in class to work is a mini office hour because he walks around answering individual questions.
Best math prof Iv ever had, lots of example to practice in class, makes sure the class understands before moving on and also tells the greatest math joke ever.
A really good prof. Easy to understand, keeps lectures as interesting as possible and is accommodating and understanding.
Mark Bauer is a amazing professor after the head Ryan Hamilton. He is willing to go around answerin any questions that you are having difficulties with and don't be shy to raise you hand he will answer all questions because his motto is that all questions are good questions. All practice questions are on his slides. Highly recommend but no at 8 am.
If math is not your strongest subject, be ready to teach yourself and do lots of practice questions on your own time. He explains things once and then moves on unless multiple people ask about it. However, he is very approachable and willing to help if you ask him questions after class. He wasn't at his office hours the three times I tried to go.
love his lectures! really good teaching style, hes a funny guy and cracks a few hilarious jokes every now and then and keeps the class interesting. Best part about his class is his "language" , we all get a good laugh. U of C better not lose him
He is the best prof ever ! Very very clear lecture. And he makes sure u understand the lecture and he goes through all of the examples!
U of C better not lose this prof. His lectures are easy to understand. Very funny guy. He provides lots of examples during the class which is very helpful.
The funniest prof you will ever have!!!! Was somehow able to make calc my favorite class of the semester. 100% would recommend
Mark is the nicest prof I have ever seen at u of c. His lectures are not boring at all he so is approachable and down to earth. He also goes through lots of example during the class which I found it very helpful. He has positive attitudes that makes Math interesting.
Excellent intro calc prof, very helpful and clear on what ot focus on!
Hes amazing. Mark makes calculus a breeze. Hes also REALLY funny ! Thanks for helping pass calculus
Great guy, really funny and makes Calculus simple. As a business student, math is not my best subject and Mark made the class as painless as it could be. None of the questions on his tests were made to trick you. They did what they were intended to do -- test your knowledge of the concepts at hand. Wish more profs followed Mark's philosophy!
best prof ive ever had and as a first year student im willing to bet ill never have a prof as good as him again throughout the rest of my uni career. I have nothing but respect for Mark, hilarious guy and great attitude.
The best prof ever. His positive attitude made math may favour subject. Very very nice guy anddown to earth. Also his lectures are easy to follow. What I like about his class is right after he teaches he gives us examples to work on. And after a few minutes he goes through it and explain it very well.
Amazing prof, so caring about his students, so active and funny in class, does a lot of problems in lectures. Would like to take another course with him
His exams aren't very hard and he really cares about all of his students. He does lots of practice problems but it would be nice if he did more difficult ones. He is always willing to take the time to explains things if you do not understand. Overall pretty decent calc prof.
The best prof I have had in all 5 years of my degree. Mark clearly cares about his students, and takes time to do practice questions in class to make sure you understand the material. He is also hilarious & makes the content interesting. Exams were very straightforward with no surprises. If you are anxious about taking calc, take it with Mark!!
Great lecturer and teacher. He's hilarious in his lectures and he really cares about the success of his students. He's a super genuine and nice guy. Himself and all the TAs are very accessible outside of class. If you don't allow yourself to fall behind in his class and you get extra help to understand concepts, you will be successful in his class.
One of the best math profs ever. Knows what hes doing, super funny guy. Very chill and straight forward. Class was alot more entertaining because of him. Definately take him!!
he soooo awesome! such a great prof, explains concepts very well!
this guy is hilarious! always cracking up everytime he tells a joke, I love this man. Gives alot of examples and is super clear about whats gonna be tested on. God bless this beautiful fine individual.
Mark is a hilariously funny lecturer. Always cracks a joke and is well aware that calculus is not peoples favourite course. Midterms are similar to the homework. Allows time for practice Questions in class. Tutorials are useful but that depends on the TA. Do the practice exams because they are often very similar. Very approachable guy.
Honestly, hands down one of the best math teachers in my life. He makes it look so easy and he is truly passionate about what he teaches. If you are taking this course, you HAVE to go with him. He is very fun in his lectures and he responds super fast to his email. Such a good teacher.
A lot of people I knew suggested Mark, and I am so glad I listened! He makes class fun and let's us go through examples by ourselves and then does some of them with us. Mark also replies really fast to his emails and stays after class to answer any questions.
Huge beauty. Great prof, explains concepts in different ways which is very helpful. Clearly cares about his students and how they do.
Absolute stud, explains hard concepts in different ways so that they are possible to understand
The best prof I've ever had! He explains things very naturally, is hilarious during class, and is very relatable and approachable. His expectations for exams are very clear. As long as you pay attention in class and do the homework, he makes a difficult subject much less intimidating.
One of the best prof I have ever had, the course itself is kinda difficult for people who aren't really mathematical, and I'm one of those guys. I barely studied for this course, and I got a B without studying. If you pay efforts, easy A for you. Would recommend people to go to his lectures. 10/10
Name a couple more powerful than the Bauer's.... I'll wait....
Best calc prof NA
THE MAN. Nothing but respect for him. Mark if you're reading this, my friend and I wish you nothing but happiness
Makes calculus fun. Uses numerous examples to explain each concept and will explain the concepts in a different way if it doesnt make sense. Hes very personable and seems to care a lot about his students. The exams are exactly like the practice tests, and the WeBWork homework helps.
Very very good prof. He cares about his students. and his lectures are fun.
Mark is a total GEM! He's hilarious and very caring. Makes math easier to understand. Although, his tests are very tricky and requires lots of practice. As long as you put in the effort, an A- is not too difficult to achieve.
I went to bauer's classes instead of my actual math prof and he teaches and explains the concepts very well. He goes through a lot of examples and gives students a chance to solve them before showing the solution and steps. A very nice guy in general and he made math a lot easier
He doesnt care about his students, is harsh and his lectures are very boring. Overall, not a fan of him or the class.
great prof care about his students and his lectures are easy to understand
He is a great prof, I wish U of C had more profs like him.
Very good prof, he has good slides and teaches in a clear manner. However make sure you attend lecture especially towards the end of the semester when you get to triple integrals. It usually gets rushed and can get quite tricky if you don't practice. Very easy to talk too and sweet in general.
Really good guy. He wants to help everyone as much as possible. Never posted anything but quiz/homework keys on D2L, so going to class was a must. Group work was for participation marks and that sucked at first, but it actually helped me understand the content better. Tough stuff, but he's a genius.
Mark is a phenomenal professor. He doesnt post notes, but his lectures are incredibly entertaining and super useful. If you do miss a class, the textbook he chooses is a hoot. Make cares about the success of his students and truly extends a helping hand in every way possible. His classes are a breathe of fresh air, highly recommend.
Live for this guy. Awesome prof who makes every lecture super enjoyable. Makes sure concepts are understood and that people know whats going on. Super respected and gives time to work through practice problems
Entertaining lectures, especially for math. Explains things decently well and breaks stuff down for you.
While Dr. Bauer was helpful, his lectures did not coincide with the midterms and final. The stuff he would teach would be super easy but the tests were really hard. I had to use mostly external resources to pass this course.
Just finished a class with professor Bauer and it was a fantastic experience. He provided tons of resources and made the online experience much better than I anticipated.
Professor Bauer is really good at giving detailed lectures and making sure everyone understands the content. I had to take this course with him online due to COVID and he still delivered good lectures.
Mark is truly a really great professor, however, his one flaw is the inability to reach him outside of class. He doesn't respond to emails so it's tough to get in touch. Otherwise, his lectures are really good, but if you try to read the lecture notes without watching them, you won't understand what he's doing.
<3 One of the top professors ur a good freaking dude Mark
Kinda sounds like leafyishere. Anyways good professor and it was tough cause its online so no in person lectures but still solid.
It is extremely hard to do well and follow along in a course that you are trying to teach yourself. The discussion boards are just students helping each other & if you enjoy khan academy links and yt vids then this is the course for you. Many other courses deliver live lectures so clearly its not that hard, I just wish this course was one of them.
Seems great. Humorous course layout. Easy marks and some challenging tests. overall good course hard to do poorly if you put the work in!
The lectures were rather dry, as one might expect when it comes to math. Dr B was amazing in every other respect, he used quizzes in a way that was informative and I really appreciated.
I learned this semester that I am not a math person. This course was one of the hardest I have ever done. What saved me was Mark's solid, reliable lectures, clear explanations, and hilarious "calculus monster" themed coursework. I just barely passed, but I would have failed or dropped out without a good prof like Mark!
Sal taught more of this course than the professors.
Absolute trash. This online semester all he did was put up YouTube videos and occasionally he would do an example video where he explains what to do. The irony is that the YouTube videos had better explanations than this guy. I was hella confused at what this guy was tryna say.
This prof wouldn't round my 87.6 to an 88 for an A. The entire course was taught by youtube videos by other people. When I signed up for help sessions, no one joined the zoom call from the other end. Beyond frustrating and as someone who isn't a natural at math, so hard.
Mark was a great prof! During the synch lectures, he was clear, did lots of examples, and was very open to questions. Definitely more work compared to MATH 265, for instance. But so long as you actively keep up with the material (pre-recorded videos and YouTube videos) and practice problems, you'll be fine!
BLESS THIS MAN. Mark, I wish you literally the absolute best because I went into this class expecting a miserable and blood-curdling mathematics experience, and came out with a good grade and a genuine liking for calculus. WHAT?! To anyone who is taking this class, especially if you are like me and were forced to, TAKE IT WITH HIM! Love you bro.
Mark is a phenomenal prof. Hes so clearly passionate about what he teaches and his own research in number theory making the class that much more exciting. Definitely one of the best in the math department
Made class fun and explains concepts very good!
Math 267 was one of the easier classes I have this semester. If you know the material from Math 265 well, you should do well in this class. The only challenging thing was the Sequence and Series unit exam which was bad but if you do well on the other assignments, you should be fine. Dr. Bauer was a funny prof. His lectures were actually interesting
Dr B is amazing, he will work exactly as hard for you as you're willing to work for yourself. He moved 2 deadlines, provided 2 make up grades, and plenty of grading components. Do not get behind in your work, sequences and series class avg ~60%, it's legit hard. Get help early if you think you need it. Watch extra resources provided.
Mark is a super kind and approachable guy who is great at teaching calculus. He does lots of examples in class that serve as great practice for the exams. Always willing to answer questions and engage with students during lectures, after class, and in office hours. You can tell he loves sharing his passion for math and wants everyone to succeed.
There will be some self-teaching required, but that's just part of being in uni. Dr B is always accessible, will always make time for you, and will work as hard for you as you're prepared to work for yourself. Sequences and Series is rough! Be prepped for that. Don't get behind on your webworks, they're due every week. Easy A.
He was the course coordinator for MATH 275 this year and it was by far the most poorly coordinated course for first year engineering. At the beginning of the semester answer keys were not even posted for the ALS until halfway through and even then the answer keys lacked any detail. However, you can reach out to him very easily through emails.
As a course coordinator, this guy is awful. This is 100% a self taught class. Content provided from instructors is not helpful and is recycled old lectures from previous semesters that barely relate to the current semesters work. Refuses to provide actual solutions to practice problems. Be prepared to find your own resources to learn the content!!
Worst course coordinator & prof. Made a relatively easy course very frustrating with redundant & old lecture content as well as refusing to post answers to the weekly worksheets. Be prepared to teach yourself if you wanna succeed.
Mark Bauer is a good lecturer, however, he cannot organize a class. Every week we were fighting tooth and nail for small things, like answer keys with steps, and more than one practice exam. The lecture videos were from external sources, and nothing was new or updated. Be prepared to work very independently, and teach yourself, easy tests though.
Amazing guy, and clearly cares about calc HOWEVER it can be frustrating to not get an answer to anything. The course itself is entirely self taught so be prepared!
Composition of the course is not bad, midterm and final are a little heavy but not awful. I found Mark very bad at preparing you for test and exams. Lectures were OK, but for the active learning we did do, we did not even get to see the correct answers. Think the way the lectures and active learning is done should be switched.
This class is pretty much all self-taught. When Bauer does lecture, they are very interesting because he is great at teaching at calc. However this course was just structured terribly.
This is a "flipped" course, with online lecture materials, but all Engineering courses at UofC are like this. Mark himself was knowledgeable and approachable (and funny). He also did end up providing answer sheets for the worksheets in response to student feedback, which is nice that he listened to complaints and changed accordingly.
Mark is crystal clear and what he does why he does. Every step is explained and questions are always welcome. He understands the material extremely well and communicates it to the point it . feels like telekinesis
feel like bauer himself was a good prof and when he did explain stuff it was good but the way the course was run was terrible it was like they were briefed to not give us any help and 90% of the time you had a question you would get told to ask a friend or the prof would give a vague answer like he was the mf riddler. nice guy tho
Dr. Bauer is a nice professor but he does not explain certain steps when showing us how to do the calculations, which leads me to be lost and confused. I had to teach myself the last two units because I was so confused the entire time he was teaching.
He was very good at discussing the actual topic in class in a very down to earth way. This class did have some challenge however this was from Mark Bauer pushing his students to be the best they could. He would never give full answers but guided students and helped them truly understand and grasp the material.
Best math prof ever. Nothing we haven't gone over shows up on midterms, all of his tests are extremely fair, basically pulled directly from in class examples. Lots of opportunities to boost your mark. Funny af, passionate, and takes into account the changing field of math with so many online calculators, and runs his course accordingly!!
Never thought this class would be my GPA booster. If you have Bauer or Smith you'll most likely succeed in this class. :)
Mark was very nice and obviously passionate about math. Unfortunately, the class was run so terribly with very little material given to students and had to learn from online resources most of the time. He's a very good math prof, and explains concepts well, just wish he could have taught the class in a different way, but that is not his fault.
He was decent for the first few months, but completely rushed the last section in a week, not explaining things well, yet it made up 80% of the final. Textbook was also bad, no detailed solutions for anything, and had to rely on paid resources. If you personally spend hours practicing you'll do well, but if you struggle with math avoid.
A nice, funny guy but he doesn't really explain the concepts or do examples in class. He will do one example that's it. If he doesn't finish a lecture, he doesn't come back to finish it next class, he just skips to the next topic which is frustrating. I had to learn from online resources and videos because he covered so little content in class.
Hes tuff actually good prof would recommend, his pratices for the midterms and quizes line up with whats actually on the assessments.
Mark is an awesome prof who explains the content well and doesn't waste your time on trivial problems that you'll never see again
After failing calculus the first time around, I took it once more and got Dr. Bauer as a professor for Math 249 (calc 1). Let me just say--he is one of the best professors I have EVER had. He communicates clearly, doesn't overcomplicate, and has a great sense of humor. Bauer helped me finally understand calculus!
Super kind and caring, frequently walks around the class asking individually how students are feeling about the material and gives time for questions during class time as well. Really awesome and personable guy and a great teacher as well.
Professor Bauer was an amazing math teacher who explained concepts well. The in-class assessments gave more than ample time for the type of questions. I will say that the online work had way more difficult questions than the in-class ones. Overall, he is one of the best math teachers I've ever had.
Was fair even tho the class was fairly difficult and he is really chill
A very funny, personable and engaging person. He made my 8 AM lecture bearable! He explained calc 1 so well, I am really bad at math but the way he taught and explained it made math actually click in my brain! This course was Pass/Fail, their first time trying it, and it was great... easy to pass it.
Amazing professor. Wears funny shirts and sometimes acts like a toddler who just learned swearing. Actually made me want to go to an 8am and taught it so it actually stuck in my brain.
