GEO212 gets a way worse rating than it should. 20% of the gradehomework, only due once a week & you complete it & go over it in class- 20% of your gradeguaranteed A. 80% is 2 semi hard exams, 40% each, CURVED. If you're a good test taker, this class is an easy A. If not, don't take. Just take good notes. Very low work, only studying before exams.

Writes pointless words on the board for lectures, goes off topic and on tangents that are irrelevant and make the lecture more confusing than it already is. Tests make no sense, and he just talks about how he had a 1.8 GPA and that college isn't for everyone. TA's are also not helpful. Only good thing is that you get the answers to homework in lab

This is by far the worst class I have every taken. There is no organization, he writes random words on the board and talks about them in no particular order and goes off on tangents about his sexuality and drug use. The homework and quizs are super unrelated to what is taught in class. The midterm and final are impossible.

Dr. Blumer while a nice person, is unfit to be a college professor based on his Geography 212 class. American Historical geography is what it is called, but it is far from that. The lectures are spent with him going on various tangents about his drug use and sexuality. As well the tests are on the most obscure things he couldve said in passing.

Awful experience. You essentially have to write down every little thing he says, which is tough since his speaking is extremely sporadic and his lectures are all over the place, and if you dont remember every single little detail that he says you most likely wont do well on the exams which make up a huge portion of the grade.

I am currently in his Geog 437 class and I've had him previously in Geog 212. In both classes he likes to go on tangents and doesn't stick to a lecture schedule. He grades VERY harshly on assignments. No matter how hard you try you will most likely never get a 100% on anything... he is a really cool dude though. Good luck if you have class w him!!

Blumler goes on tangents about the random words he scribbles on the whiteboards. He tells you college isn't for everyone, and that he had a 1.8 GPA in college. His exams are about random things he may or may not have said during lecture. He hasn't updated the manual in 20 years, very unorganized and the pages aren't in order. Avoid at all costs.

Impossible to follow lectures. His tests are absolutely impossible with the questions pertaining to the most specific little details as our average was a 52% on the midterm and a 76% was the top grade. Homework assignments were totally unrelated to class. If rate my professor allowed me to put 0/5, I would have, but since you can't, he gets a 1/5.

Definitely a difficult class, but completely doable. Go to lecture, because there's only 2 tests all year and they're based very heavily on what you learn in lecture. This isn't a class for someone who has a hard time remembering facts and details. Do every reading as they're assigned. Make use of office hours, the professor is a great resource.

Blumler probably gets a worse rating than he should. Need to work for your grade. Discussion sections/homework are 40% of your grade and should be an easy A. Lectures contain a lot of detail and you need to make sure you take notes on any of the topics he writes down on the board. Tests are hard but highly curved. The class is really interesting.

His lectures are all over the place and he does not do slides so you have to just copy what's coming out of his mouth. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you go to class and take notes, you will almost certainly get an A I did. He offers many extra credit opportunities, like guest lectures and assigned films. I've read other reviews saying the exams are hard and that some students got lower grades, but I think the key is simply attending lectures and taking notes.
