He is the best math teacher I've ever taken. Come to class because he gives extra credit quizzes before and after class. He provides sample tests, hints, and solutions for every test! Plus you don't have to waste money on a book because he doesn't use it. As long as you attend class and do the homework you should get a really good grade.

Mr. Bly is a great teacher! He explains the subject very well and truly cares if you understand the subject or not.

Professor Bly was literally the best math teacher I have ever had. I'm not strong in math, but he made sure everyone in the class was caught up and knew what was going on. He gives ample opportunity to better your grade. His website has practice exams, problems, and solutions was the best part of the course. I ended up making a 96 in the course.

I took matrix algebra this semester thinking it would be tough, based on convos with classmates--not so! Professor Bly makes things easy to understand, even when the content gets complex. He is clear, organized, punctual, and very fair, giving feedback on homework and having many study resources online. High B easily wo book, would recommend!

Such a great teacher! He is very detailed with his lectures and makes sure everyone understands everything. Material is challenging, but Mr. Bly explains it all so well.

Upper level math is tough. Mr. Bly works through the problems from start to finish and takes questions. Mr. Bly's explanations really help with understanding. You have to show up and take notes and then go home and do the work. He answers emails quickly, gives EC and makes class enjoyable. He's a great choice to take but you'll HAVE to work.

Best reacher I've ever had at UT without a doubt. Don't think about skipping class because there were quizzes at the end of ever class. They aren't hard if you pay attention. So helpful during and outside of class. If you take someone else besides him, you are missing out.

Mr. Bly was an incredible teacher. He came to class everyday really wanting to teach and make sure his students did well. Expect homework but it is never more than a page long. If you miss class he is really chill about turning in your homework just email for full credit. His tests are easy if you do the study guide. Would definitely take him again

Mr. Bly is so thorough and helpful in class. He gives homework every night but it doesn't take more than 5 or 10 minutes and it's very easy. He answers questions about homework via email quickly and gives a lot of extra credit. He is probably the best math teacher I've ever had.

If you have Mark as a teacher, he will likely be the best math professor you will ever have. He explains concepts very well and is very good at putting complicated theorems and ideas in layman' terms. If you can have him as a TA or a professor, take him, or else you are putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Mark is the GOAT. He wasn't even my TA, but I still went to his review sessions. As long as you ask him the right questions, you will get the answers you are looking for. He is good at breaking down complex concepts in a simple way. Probably wouldn't have gotten an A without Mark.

Mark Bly is God's son sent down to the University of Tennessee to teach Calculus. He is without question, the best teacher I have ever had and ever will have. He explains calculus in a way a 3 year old, who doesn't know addition, could understand. He gives great exam review material and has an exam review session that covers every topic at length.

Mark Bly is a living God among humans. Everything that comes out of that man's mouth makes sense. What Dr. Sukanek teaches in one lecture (which is 45min) Bly can teach in 15 min. He always reviews before every quiz and holds review sessions the day before every test. I have never had a better math teacher and I don't think I ever will.

Bly is the best teacher I've had. His teaching style is geared towards the student's perspective, making understanding the material easy. His analogies are incredible. And he gets so pumped and focused into the lecture that you can't help but listen. Upper level Calculus students know him from his reviews and wish he taught their actual lectures...

He taught my discussion section for Math 141. I hope he becomes a teacher one day because my god he will teach you literally EVERYTHING you need to know from the bottom up. He is so clear cut and easy to understand. His lectures are very engaging. He will literally do everything in his power to help you prepare for Math 141 exams and quizzes.

Mostly lecture based but is very funny. Does questions and memes weekly and will spend half the class looking at them. There is homework almost every night (they take all of 15 min to complete) and the tests are not hard as long as you study and pay attention in class. He cares about his students tremendously and is always available for help. His tests are weighted heavily, but he prepares his students very well. I am genuinely sad he is not teaching Calc 3.

This class has a 55% pass rate at the university overall, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mark's classes have a 100% pass rate. I am not a math genius at all, but this class was supposed to be insanely difficult and he made it so understandable. He does weekly quizzes instead of exams, and it works so well. Dr. Bly is an amazing professor, he has an amazing sense of humor and makes his class enjoyable. While Calc 2 can be a challenging subject he genuinely cares for the students and loves teaching. He is able to teach some of the more complicated subjects from calc 2 super well. If you have the option to take him you definitely should.

Prof was a great professor and set up his students for success. He was super helpful and structured his class in a way that helped us succeed and promote learning the material. Best professor I have ever had hands down. Had it at 8am and I don't regret it. Calc II is supposed to be really hard, but from the way he taught, I thought it was easy. There's no exams which caused me SO MUCH LESS STRESS. I actually had fun in his class because I could really focus on learning instead of crying over tests and bad grades.

Take him at all costs. Even if its 8am. Was so easy to understand and graded very fairly. Weekly quizzes accounted for 65 percent of the grade, and you were allowed to retake them if you did poorly the first time. Best math prof at UT.

Dr. Bly is a great professor. There are no tests or midterms, only weekly quizzes. You can retake your past quiz if you got a bad grade. It's easy to follow because he posts videos and posts slides online. I will say that the first half of the class may be difficult if you didn't have a good calc 1 experience or didn't take AP calc in high school.

The only thing disappointing about this professor is that there is only one of him, because I wouldn't mind him teaching all the math courses. Great lectures, makes complicated concepts understandable to a toddler, and has a very lenient grading policy.

Prof. Bly has a clear passion for the course material and a love for teaching. He makes pre-class videos for every lesson, and the slides for the lecture are available before/after class. He is available outside of class and is willing to help you in whatever way he can. I would highly recommend Bly.

Proffesor Bly is wonderful. My only complaint is that he can't teach all my other classes. He makes engaging lectures, and his grading is based on how much you learn rather than how good you are at test taking. The quizzes are able to be retook, and he gives useful homework assignments.

I normally struggle with math, but Professor Bly had fun and engaging lectures that made topics in this class clear and easily understandable while also making learning fun. I wish I had a professor like him for all of my classes.

My favorite class to date. There are no tests and he lets you re-do your weekly quizzes the following week to improve your score. Part of your grade is literally submitting a meme and a question of the week. Lecture was so fun and I enjoyed going even though it was an 8AM.

This is by far the best professor in any subject I've ever had. Lectures were engaging, TA's were entertaining, and I know of no other math class where making a (math related) meme counted towards a grade. Was really hoping to take calc 3 with him, but my schedule didn't work out that way. If you have the chance to take him, JUMP ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mark is one of the best Calculus 2 professors I ever had. He's able to make the toughest of topics simple, making the explanations concise and showing example problems in class is what helped me prepare for quizzes, which you can re-take every week. As long as you study and put in the work, you will get the grade you deserve in the class.

Literally the goat. Everything about the class is set up to make it easier for you to succeed. Exams are replaced by quizzes you can take twice, there's no prep work and everything you need to know is taught in class, and Professor Bly is just gifted at making Calculus easy to understand. Forget getting the best time slot, just get in his class.

Bly is a AMAZING lecturer and does a great job at teaching the material. Class is a SLOG to learn it all, but Bly takes the feast and cuts it into bite size pieces. Weekly quiz (60%) and each quiz is a retake the following week. No exams, just mock exams that are quiz grades. Final is 25%, and homework is 15%. Class is very well organized. TAKE HIM

Oh Mark, how I love you. To start, your glorious and luxurious hair, always perfectly shiny and pushed back. Listening to you talk about math was truly such an honor. You made it easy, you made it digestible, you made it fun. On a real note, Bly was wonderful, but there are weekly quizzes, the multiple choice screws you, 3 questions, 20 points.

Calc III is the most computationally complex math course I have ever taken, but I would argue it was one of my overall easiest classes just because of how good at teach Mark Bly is. Dr. Bly can take the most esoteric math principle you've never heard of and make it clear as day to understand. Far and away best professor I have ever had.

Professor Bly is an amazing person and a great professor. He explains concepts extremely clearly and if you ever miss class he has very informative videos posted for every single day. His quiz structure is great and it prioritizes actual learning over memorization. I cannot recommend him enough, just take the class.

LOVE this man. Genuinely so knowledgeable and caring. You can tell right off the bat that math is his true love. I will say one of his TAs is horrible... Calc 2 is a tough class, but he does a great job of making it easier to understand. His quiz structure is top-tier, and he deserves his high rating.

Mark Bly takes rigorous calculus related topics and boils them down to the basics in an elegant, digestible way. His quiz format made the course significantly less stressful and optimized the amount of learning on each topic. Each lecture Mark was accompanied by 5 doctorate level TA's who were just as caring as he was. Would definitely recommend.
