Took everything we learned in A&P and applied to to nutrition. Didn't bore us with food pyramid but explored the class on a more scientific level, made nutrition more important. Keeps class interesting, funny, very easy to approach and totally cute.

The best professor I have had in 4 years of college! Funny, cute, wicked smart, and humble (not like some pompous windbags I have had the pleasure of having) I can't say enough good things, taking his classes you come away with so much more than knowledge about A&P, he helps you be a better student all around.

Mark is an excellent instructor. His teaching style is informative, while simultaneously expecting students to think critically in his course. DO NOT expect to be spoon-fed info in his class, DO NOT expect to do well if you do not have an strong work ethic and desire to do well - but that holds true for any of the A&P's/instructors.

I had Mark for 251, 252 and 253. It was a hard class, but then Anatomy is expected to be hard. Mark is nice, and he's willing to answer your questions but sometimes makes you feel as if you should already know the answer.

Bolke rocks. He is by far the best Biology teacher at Clark. He makes it safe to ask questions and is always prepared for class. He grades test and quizzes and always has them ready the next day. He is funny and tries hard to make lecture exciting. Take Bolke you won't regret it!

I had a great quarter with Mark until his ridiculously difficult final exam. He pulls material from random places in the text and asks very in depth questions about several topics that weren't discussed at all in lab or lecture. Be prepared to have no life if you want to do well in his class.

Mark is a quality professor that is enthusiastic about the material, concerned about student success, and is very approachable to provide additional assistance, however he expects students to work so do your homework before seeking additional help. His tests where fair with no surprises and he provides lecture notes that are very handy.

What can I say about Bolke? He's a really nice guy & also really fair. He will admit when he makes mistakes. With that said, his tests are a nightmare. No matter how much I studied I was never prepared for his questions, which were often over info. barely discussed (in class or the book). I don't think this is intentional, but it's still annoying!

Tough class. I had an A the entire time...and then there was the final..(where almost everyone in the class got a 'D')..the final was weighted more than 50% of the final grade, and so the quizzes didn't mean anything. He is a good teacher, but yeah, his final is a killer

It's not his fault you're having trouble. There are standards set for your benefit in the long run. There are A LOT of people with A's in the class. That said, I think he's great. A very smart man who helps anyway he can think of. His fascination with the material keeps it fun and interesting. If its not already interesting, try another major.

Bolke is a great professor. He prepares you for the national test AND for your future classes. A&P is the class where you actually have to study and put in a lot of work. If you can't pass it, then the problem lies within your study skills...not Bolke's teaching methods.

Bolke's teaching style is fantastic! He is very helpful with tips and advice for successful completion of the class. He is not as knowledgeable about A & P as Dr. Rausch, but that is almost a relief because we are getting just the information we need and not getting overwhelmed with peripheral and confusing info. Bolke's there for u & he replies emails fr students in a very timely manner. His exam questions can ask the smallest details, so study everything. I had Rausch for the first two quarters of A&P and was nervous getting a new instructor for the final quarter. Bolke is funny, greatly helpful, and does what he can to give you the tools to help you succeed. Somewhat sad I didn't have him the first two quarters! (I liked Rausch, but Bolke's teaching style helped things to stick better).

Mr. Bolke is one of the best instructors I've had at Clark (and I've been attending for 3 1/2 years). Like one person already said, it's not his fault if you don't put the work in to the class. He gives helpful, efficient study tips that I will use for the rest of my life. He doesn't mind answering questions and is humble with his knowledge.

I had previously taken the class with a different instructor and it was extremely hard and I felt as though there was no help in actually learning the material. Mark goes out of his way to make sure everyone knows the bests ways for studying and to help.

Bolke is a kind person who is willing to help you if you want it bad enough. You have to be self motivated and be ready to study without someone spoon feeding you the information. It's a very difficult class, but he helps as much as he can. Take him for any class he teaches, really a great professor and educator.

These are classes that take you to professional programs people! Pretty sure Nursing and Radiography aren' t easy programs or everyone would be doing it! I struggled through this series. Success is based on familiarity with the topics, so don't skip out on studying. Mark is good, but also very challenging. He writes new tests every time, so if you can find a flaw in the questions, do it, and get your points back. Also, try to get 100%'s in lab to help you on the lecture scores.

He deserves the high ratings he has. Don't hesitate to ask those questions that you need to.

By far the best professor I have ever had. Not only does he teach the course materials he also teaches you HOW to learn. This is not High School, teachers are not going to hold your hand to make sure you pass. A failing grade from this professor is only the fault of the student. He offers extra credit and is always eager to answer questions.

Incredible teacher! This guy knows what he is talking about and is very good at explaining. Just because the class is hard doesn't mean he is a bad teacher. Class is very difficult, any A&P will be. Very helpful if you come to him with questions & already put effort into finding the answer before asking. Cares about students & wants you to succeed & develop strong learning strategies. Lecture is almost directly out of the text book. Used the lecture text book a lot, hardly used the other books at all

He is an awesome teacher. The subject is hard. You must study. If you miss a question on the test and have a reasonable explanation you will get the points. After three quarters he is like family. I recommend if you want to learn and earn your grade. Labs can be tricky study the models and take pictures for review.

Mark is a great teacher. He is super helpful but doesn't hold your hand. He is preparing each one of his students for their future programs by teaching them how to study and learn on their own. His notes can be a little scattered at times but overall he is an amazing teacher. It's hard but I wouldn't have wanted any other teacher.

Mark is a great teacher. While his tests can be tricky they are written to make you think. If you put the work in you will be fine. He is always willing to help anyway he can. If you are looking for an easy class A&P is not that no matter who your teacher is. As Mark has told me "Your program is going to be much more difficult".

Mr. Bolke is a good teacher, very easy going, friendly and flexible. He didn't lecture in the lab, so you learn on your own, but he answers any questions you have. The tests were not easy - they were all blank questions based on memorization, but if you study you can do well.

Probably the best teacher I've ever had. He loves helping people and wants you to ask questions. The more questions you ask the better, trust me. He goes above and beyond to help you understand something you're having trouble with. You can definitely tell he knows his stuff. He also likes cheesey jokes and puns so prepare yourself.

Bolke is tough, but hes awesome. He is funny and his notes are crystal clear, he is also very helpful. This is a tough class but he gives awesome feedback and lectures. 3 tests and one cumulative final, that's it. This isnt a class where you need to remember stuff, you need to KNOW this stuff. The test questions are TRICKY, so KNOW your stuff.

Mark Bolke aims prepares you for what is to come and he genuinely cares about the success of his students. Biology isn't easy, and Mark doesn't try and make it easy. However, if you putting in the effort but still don't see the results, he will give you extra guidance. He makes the lectures light-hearted with silly jokes, so prepare yourself! ;)

Mark was very helpful when I came to him with my test anxiety problem. He suggested some ways to help me have less anxiety and once I implemented them my tests went from C to A. I worked hard, put in a lot of hours and it paid off. Put in the time & effort, you will do well. I'm a nursing student now & I see why he teaches the way he does. A++

You will be challenged, but you also will learn a lot in the process. Dr. Bolke is welcoming and creates an environment that challenges students without being too intimidating. I took this class 10 years ago and now am in the midst of medical school. I owe my success to this class and the inspiration Bolke instills in his students.

Class itself isn't too hard as long as you study and prepare, but the final was pretty hard. If you're taking 241 I suggest you brush up on the lab sheets a lot before the final.

His tests are very difficult but with the study habits he sets you up with the tests shouldnt be insanely hard. Prof. Bolke is great! A and P is a very hard course, and the concepts can be very hard to grasp, but Bolke explains them in a clear and often humorous way, which makes them easy to memorize. Make sure you attend every lecture, and print the lecture slides before class. Also, ask him if you have questions, he is always willing to help.

While anatomy is a very difficult subject to learn and understand, Bolke is a great teacher. His lectures contain a lot of information, but he will use many examples until it becomes clearer. He also provides time outside of class where you can find extra help or other outside resources. He really puts in an effort to help us do our best.

Your grade is the average of your 8 exams, 4 lecture exams and 4 lab exams. Bolke provides great slides that include helpful videos. He also provides a very clear study guide regarding what you need to know for each exam. At the end of term he curves grades meaning if the highest class grade is 95% then everyones grades go up 5%

I am waiting for him to resume teaching BIO242. I took 241 with him and he is AMAZING! He wastes no time. He lectures on the nitty gritty and has great study guides. Fill those out, memorize what you need to memorize, read the book, and you should do just fine on the tests. Also very responsive to emails and questions.

The course is hard but the professor gives you resources necessary to be successful. Since the class grade is solely based off of exams, you need to be willing to put in the work studying to succeed. Professor Bolke is very good at giving feedback and is willing to help if you ask.

Professor Bolke is a doll. He is so kind and helpful, responds to emails quickly, and does what he can to support your kind of learning. There is a study guide, videos, powerpoint, and practice quiz for each chapter which seems to cater to all learning types. Some of the material is hard but attend the office hours if you need help!

Honestly, this is the way A&P should be taught in an online environment. No busywork, just lecture material, and tests. I would 100% take this professor again and if you're self-motivated enough to continue the terrible terribleness that is online learning, Bolke is the best choice. Mr. Bolke is a very respected teacher at Clark. This was my first class with him and I wish the next class in the sequence was with him. The only thing in the grade book is lab tests and exams but as long as you really put in the time, read and study, you will succeed. I took A&P with Bolke last quarter and he was such a thoughtful professor. Though the lecture portion was online, his videos were informative and he always sent out weekly emails inviting questions, including updates and just really caring about his students. Only graded assignments are a blood assignment and then lab and lecture exams

There's a lot to learn, but Mark helped make it as easy as possible. There are lecture videos available to watch, so you don't have to simply read every chapter you go through. He's also very helpful and friendly, and overall seems like a great guy. A&P is a hard class, but with him you really feel like you learn all the material well.

He is very responsive to student questions and a very caring person. I have nothing but great things to say about this professor! This has been my favorite class at Clark College.

His videos & learning guides help inform the most relevant information. Details matter in this class which makes it very challenging but Bolke is encouraging & ready to answer questions. I don't like that I can't see test questions I got wrong & the averaging of scores for two attempts but if you want him to send you test feedback he will.
