Don't take him! He's super hard!
He's really hard, doesn't give any hint on what's on the test. No review for the tests, and never directly answer questions you asked. There were two A's in the class, and rest of them are mainly F's .. Oh, but he gives out extra credits .. :P
This teacher is very enthusiastic about Earth Science! He gives good lectures and is helpful when you ask him a question. Many people think that this class is hard, but I think it is a wonderful class. He does give study guides and extra credit!!!=)
Says "Think outside the box" But never gives clear direction on what box he is talking about. Wants class participation but then slams you if your off his mark. Study guides help for written part but not scan part because of the way he ask quest
No offense, but he really doesnt know how to teach. Maybe he is very intelligent himself (Dr. Boryta), but his job is to teach students, not showing off his cleverness. nice person tho, help you a lot. but ya, like that helps his teaching.
by the way, he does make study guide for exams and finals. but the guide basically says "read the whole book!" its so vague and unclear. doesnt point out what is important. there are only 2 As in the class, out of 30 some people? 10 by the e
I can not belaive this man is teaching. He is very intelligent, but he has no clue how to effectively relate information. The tests were so difficult even with ample studying and preparation. Do not reccomend.
Very tough indeed. :( Unless you read the whole book and listen to everyone word he says in the lectures you won't get an A.
Nice guy who tries his best to help you understand. I would recommend him because he gives study guides and he does offer extra credit and encourages questions. With some studying I passed with a B. His fieldtrip is more like an awful bootcamp though.
Not helpful and often embarassed students.
He sucks. His study guides tell you to read the book. His lectures include nothing from the book and his tests contain nothing from the book or the lecture. So, i don't know where you're suppossed to get info. Don't take him if you want an A.
by far the worst he is intelligent but doesnt know how to teach a intro course he acts like its your major plus the one unit lab he teaches is converted into a 3 unit course his jokes are lame he speaks in monotone the study guide is as thick as a novel
this is not an easy class but if you study you can get an A. I think all the people who wrote bad comments were looking for an easy grade and don't want to put in effort to learn so they blame the teacher.
He is very unclear with the materials and notes he gives you. He often goes off topic confusing you from the material covered on the exams. He is very boring, and when he lectures you will fall asleep.Only thing I like about his class was the field trip.
Personally, I liked Professor Boryta, he tries to keep you interested in the class. He is a really nice guy, who tries his best to help you out. His class isn't hard, but it is challenging. He offers so much extra credit, help with study guides, and office hours. If you put in the effort, you wi
I went to go discuss with him my status in the class. instead of trying to help me, he just kept repeating, "You have to do this on your own". I walked out on him crying.Although he is willing to help out, i found it very hard when going the extra mile.study guide sucks!I'm dropping tomorrow.
He is a very confusing teacher. There were many times when he asked a question and you can almost here crickets in the class of how quite it became. There were so many people doing bad in his tests that he even had to curve the test so people could atleast pass them. Save yourself don't take him!!!!
he is an ****. he does everything in his power to royally screw you. all the nice comments on here about him are false and possibly written by mr.boryta himself.
To be honest. He is not that of a good teacher. He is a very nice guy and tries to get people into the class. He knows the stuff but sometimes makes class boring. If you take him. Pay as much attention, study and read the book. If you don't get it, ask him, he will do his best. He is a good guy.
He is such a boring teacher. I hated his class. He never wanted to help you. All he tried to do was make you thinks that you are dumb. He knows a lot about astronomy but doesn't know how to teach it. I would NOT recommend this teacher to anyone!!!!!!
A pretty good teacher. His tests are easy if you study, but its unclear what he wants exactly from the essay type questions. Doesnt give full credit if you are missing something. Lectures are boring but learn a lot if you listen. People who rated him bad probably got bad grades. dont listen to them.
TOOOOOOO HARD!!!!!!!! IT SEEMS LIKE YOU ARE MAJORING IN GEOLOGY, SERIOUSLY MEMORIZE THE WHOLE BOOK, LECTURE WORD BY WORD. 4 TESTS, FIELDTRIP, EVERYONE GETS F'S ON TESTS, BECAUSE HE DOESN'T KEEP HIS TESTS AT A NORMAL LEVEL. HE IS A BIG NERD
a very challenging teacher. have to be on your "p's and q's"--meaning, study assignments prior to meeting. Does not tolerate anything!
Overall a cool guy. But, his explainations aren't always clear. He's always available to help and loves what he does. I personally dropped his class because it was very challenging and I couldn't keep up. However, I'm not bitter. DONT BE TARDY. HE TAKES ROLL AT BEGINNING OF CLASS. MARKED DOWN IF LAT
THis teacher is so bad, the class is boring the study guides basically tell you to read the whole book. If you miss class it's over, he will knock off your grade 5% Give extra credit, but his lack of teaching skills make the class sooo bad

I hate talking badly about anyone, but he deserves it! There were times in the class where he would ask a question, I would answer pretty much directly from the book, and he would tell me I was wrong. I went to his office hours, did my assignments, etc. and still failed. He's ridiculous!
Mt Sac holds a high prestige on being a top community college and it is a shame that a professor like Mr. Boryta is able to teach there. I strongly agree that any positive comment written here was written by Mr. Boryta himself. He is the worst professor.Save time and don't take him. He is horrible
his a good teacher if you listen in class and read your book you will do good and his quizes are mostly from his lecture.
He expects alot from his students. In order to do well in his class you have to keep up, go to class, do the reading, keep good notes and review them on a weekly basis. He puts alot of extra credit on his exams, there is no reason not to do well on them if you have studied. His lectures can be a little confusing but he is very willing to help.
I took Boryta for Geol 8 (Earth Science) Spring 2005. I had heard rumors he was a tough guy, mean, not helpful etc. My assesment is, he's NOT a bad guy, he is EXTREMELY friendly and a nice guy. But the subject what a LOT more than what I expected (though interesting no doubt). If you take this class, BE ON YOUR TOE'S. Work hard, & u will pass.
This will be a tough class...i failed it the first time that i took it but put in a little more effort in the second time around and got a B. The subject is very hard, but he does his best to teach it to you. U have to go to class and make sure u do good on the quizzes..even if you fail a test you can still pass.
i do not know what to said because this ok teacher kinda funny i try to keep up but still end up with C so is kinda hard but you will manage to get passing grade, i guess u need more spend time on reading in order to get an A or B in this class
this teacher is so hard. I've tried everything i can in that class but i'm still lost. when you ask him a question he answers in a "smartass" way. i will not ever take him again.
He trys to be funny but he isnt.

Horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIM. Hes a prick. Smart a$$ attitude and is very mean. Its a shame hes teaching at mt. sac. VERY BAD TEACHER.
do not take this guy. He is a nice guy but not so good at explaining things, although he tries. Expects too much
In my 17 years of school, he is by far the WORST teacher I've ever had. Not only does he not teach, but he is the most annoying person in the world.
He's not teaching Oceanography anymore but he taught the subject very well. If he every teaches it again I highly suggest taking him. He knew the material. All you had to do was show up to class and do the work and you get easy points. The hardest thing was a group project about an animal or event about the ocean. It was very easy!!!
I still don't know what the hell viscosity is!!! He ia very nice, dosn't want to give you any answers, wants you to figure it out. Very frustrateing when you try and don't get it. rewarding when u do. Definetly have to try hard. And comunicate. but I'd take Bridges
Very energetic about teaching the workings of the world to his students. But make sure to ask questions or know answers, he does not like slackers.
EASIEST CLASS EVER. I DIDNT EVEN NEED THE BOOK. HIS JOKES ARENT FUNNY BUT THE CLASS IS WAY EASY, IF YOU DON'T PASS, YOU'RE AN IDIOT.
He is such a jerk! He makes you feel stupid in class if you don't know an answer, belittles you in class and doesn't answer questions but gives a smart remark. Studied my butt off and still didn't pass.
This class was intense! You need to open the book and study in order to pass. He gives you a lot of hints on where to get the information to study for the exams and if your smart you won't wait until before the test or exams. He tries to be funny and sometimes he is but he really is a nice guy. Study and you will pass.
This guy is so simple, I don't know what people are talking about when they say he's hard....He gives you a notecard EVERY test, and takes off 20-30 points, got over 100 percent on almost every exam....so easy
Well to put it plainly the class is not for the weak. The quizzes are given as pop quizzes, the materials covered in the notes during class dont cover the info on the quizzes and test. Dont take this class unless you are good at memorizing the information on your own. However he gives no homework and there is only one project that is fairly easy
Mr. Boryta is a great science teacher!!Well..he's not easy for the people who never open the book to study. As long as you follow along and take good notes, you will end up with an A. He gives extra credit and extra points on every quiz and exam. He's nice and funny!! I got an A 100% for the class.
Mark is a pretty cool professor. GEO8 in general covers quite a of lot material. He does an exceptional job teaching the subject. I'm a business major and I took his class for my GE requirements. Had to study for his tests which isn't a bad thing since you actually learn the material. Isn't that the reason why we're in college anyways? LOL.
ughhhhhhhhhhhh so hard to understand...he thinks he is so funny. he got better towards the end, but his analogies are sooooooo confusing!! but i got an A...
This guy gives out study guides on his site to use. You get to bring in a 3 x 5 card to exams and he's willing to help if you are willing to go to get it. Study sessions available too. The huge bonus is that you can get tons of extra credit by attending related lectures and such! EASY A for those who are willing to do the work and attend class.
So here's the thing. Mark Boryta is completely worthless. His lectures are not engaging, not interesting - they're extensive and tedious yet still not informative. He doesn't give the students a clear idea on what they should focus on or what's important. No one will know the material by the end of the semester except for himself. worthless.
He was great. Straight-forward. Enthusiastic! Flexible and willing to help. I took him twice because I wasnt prepared the first time, but I aced it the second time around.
awesome
i thought he was a really good teacher. but you really need to read the book even for quizzes. make sure you go to his office hours for the quiz answers because they do appear on tests. his class was pretty easy if you do the work. i got a high A
he is a little difficult but very helpful if you ask him. All those talking bad are just looking for an easy grade
This guy is not just hard to keep up with he is basically... well... WRONG FOR EDUCATING STUDENTS.This guy really needs to slow down and teach not talk
sorry, i know he means well, but i don't think he is a great teacher! he has Dr. in front of his name, but you can't tell. he tries to get u to like the subject, but it makes u hate it! well, he gives study guides online. all in all, u have to be able to teach yourself the subject becuz he runs off topic. we are behind 12 units right now :(
This teacher is absolutely horrible. i didn't learn anything and ended up dropping with about half the class because he doesn't teach anything. all he does it make stupid puns and he isn't straightfoward. you can't learn anything from him because he isn't serious and i doubt that he even knows anything about astronomy.
He was a boring teacher. All he ever does is lectures! No homework at all. His tests are hard and quizzes are okay. No group activties or anyhing fun is done in this class. He cracks jokes RARELY. I had this class on mondays for 3 hours and it was horrible! The only fun thing in this class was the field trip.
this professor is hard. If you want to get a good grade and have a good time i recomend not taking him. 20 hours of study time outside of class to pass. Lastly, don't take this guy
You need to study a lot on your own if you want to get a good grade. I'd say the majority of the class had great difficulty in his class due to their lack of study skills. I took AP classes in High School, so for me, this class wasn't very hard, and I took this class in the summer. Quizzes every so often, tests have quiz questions, cheat sheets.
I enjoyed his class, does alot of lecturing (but better then reading the book!). The field trip was rough due to Bee's but survived. I found his class interesting and recommend his class.
Knowledgable, available, sense of humor. Will take another class with him
Loved the class!
Assigns no homework, so it's very easy to get lazy and fall behind. All exams and quizzes have a bonus 20% to 30% extra credit, so if you ace everything, you'll end up with a 130% in the class. Although this is a GE course, it's remarkably difficult. Fail/dropout rate is probably over 15%. Be prepared for a tough challenge.
This class was a joke. His lectures are very dry, and he talks to you like you've been a geologist as long as he has. His exams are extremely difficult, and he's a terrible professor. Seems like a fun guy, but doesn't know how to teach. About 75% of the class dropped. Don't take him.
His exams are a bit on the hard side;however, he does give you a copy of the powerpoints so you don't have to take notes. He also gives like 20-30 extra points on the test so it leaves some room for error. He doesn't assign homework, the only thing other than the 3 exams that is required is a class fieldtrip. I got an A but i recommend someone else
This professor really put me to sleep (which is not an easy thing to do)I did good in his class only because he lets us use cheat sheets, and i wrote everything on them. He lectures like if we know what he is talking about already. Most of the people in the class seemed to have a hard time. Would not recomend taking unless you are very into Geology
Great teacher who is passionate and knowledgable about what they teach. The class wasn't easy, but if you study hard and put in the effort you'll do fine. Definitely recommend him!
I dropped this teacher on the 5th day. he is absolutely terrible! he has no sense of humor and is the dullest professor ever. i can't believe mt.sac would ever hire someone with absolutely no personality. his exams were hard, and he is so monotone it sounds like a computer speaking. just unbelievably boring, i couldn't help but fall asleep!!
Wow this teacher can suck it, seriously just lectures all 3 hours of class. It was a waste of money buyn the labbook, even tho he said it was crucial buyn it. Studyguides have nothin to do wit the test, so just try your hardest to study on ur own. Fieldtrip make sure to write good notes cause later there will be a report. He wil embarrass u in class
This is one of the worst instructors I have ever encountered. He doesn't help at all. When asked to answer a question or clarify his meaning, he gets defensive and says that it's "inappropriate to question" him. He is not helpful and a toad could make more sense than he!
Professor Boryta is one of the better teachers working at Mount San Antonio College. Validity in the other reviews lies only in the part about the study guides. He is one of the few professors who doesn't spoon-feed his students the info., which sadly, in this day and age, is seen as a bad thing. Even so, he does allow a cheat-card for every exam!
He is a great Professor. unfortunately I had trouble comprehending the material and had issues with work and study time. He understands your siutation but other than that its up to you to keep yourself responsible for your own actions. this class is not for everyone. difficult for me but I had fun in the class. easier when each person gets involved
Not a bad teacher. He is a TRUE teacher. Not one who favors dumb lazy people. I was a lazy person and he taught me not to be so. Now im working on a phd 'cuz of his motivation. Lazy MTV kids have no place in his class. Only scholars.
One of the best professors at Mt. Sac for sure. Get to class on time, do the work, don't be dumb (thinking your too cool) and the class is awesome. Boryta has a sense of humor that is kind of infectious. Participation is key for learning the material in this class. Ask questions, the more you do the more sense it makes :)
I had a lot of difficulty in this class. I took it during the winter so it went by fast. It was also a 3 hour class. It was really boring and I had a really hard time paying attention. he gave quizzes every week. And they were pretty hard. Obviously I didn't pass the class.
SUPER strict attendence policy! Pop quizzes.. literally. You won't see them coming.. 5 minutes before class ends. But seriously nice, kind of funny, and cares about his students. His excitement over the subject is infectuous. Work hard and ask questions if you're confused. Bottom line, he really wants to help. Team Boryta! :)
Boryta is a super funny man.. looks just like the dentist from the hangover LOL. You must attend class.. his lectures help with the quizzes and tests. Offers lots of help but only if you seek it from him. Super enthusiastic about "Earth Science Time" but overall its a pretty dry subject that he tries to make fun and interesting, FIELD TRIP SUCKS.
Boryta is very knowledgeable and passionate about geology. I found a lot of his lectures really interesting (but there were boring ones too). I felt he was a fair grader although his tests were on a higher level academic level then the lecture. I earned a "B". The 3 day field trip was sort of a pain. And I never used the textbook. Overall I'd recom
He tries to be funny & laughs at his own jokes but his attempts aren't even funny. Aside from his annoying persona, his teaching is horrible. He rambles and fails to make concrete points. His tests are unpredictable & extremely difficult. Despite 5hrs of studying, got a 75%. I'm not dumb, I currently have a 4.0 after taking Eng1AH and Phil5H.
Very difficult class only recommend for Geology majors or else extremely boring and challenging. teaches as if everyone should know material already but he is a nice guy and will try to help. just wasn't enough for me and had to drop.
This professor is extremely frustrating. Lectures are pointless..Boryta does not give any concrete information for what you will be tested on & the stuff he tests you on isn't in the book either so idk where you're supposed to get info from. No review. Only 2 tests & a final for your grade & his tests are ridiculously HARD. I would NOT recommend!!
If you're interested in geology, then this is the guy for you. His lectures are rich, but they can be difficult at times. If you're looking for an "Easy A," then go elsewhere. He tends not to be direct when answering questions. He's more of the "answer a question with a question" type, and that may not be...ideal...for some. Overall-Good prefessor.
He'll help you if you make the effort. Expects a lot out of you academically. Grow up, study, and make the effort to get help. I took him last semester and he was a great professor. Got to like jokes!
Very good professor. Did'nt read the book the whole semester because half the material was common sense (for me). Powerpoint class, hands out the power point itself on worksheets and then all you have to do is write notes on them. Recommend him highly. Just make sure your memorizing abilities can handle knowing 35+ minerals and rocks.
I took the winter session of his class. He wasn't terribly boring or entertaining, just do the reading and the class should be just fine.
I got a D in this class. He's a great teacher if you figure out his grading system and if you catch his hints on what will be on the test. Otherwise read the textbook from cover to cover because if not you'll be so lost! His lectures are great but don't get caught up in his story telling or you won't learn a thing. Half my class failed others got D
this is a tough class but do-able. it was sad that he gave several extra credit opportunities and no one took them or really read the book. read the book, rewrite your notes, do easy extra credit and study and you can pass. take the opportunities.
Boryta was a bit condescending to his students. If you have a question he will try to answer it, but if you still don't get it, this teacher will just move on, he won't take the time to help you. He does not know how to bring the material to your level. Not and easy A. You need to know your Vocab, and be able to explain how it all works.
First of all, there is no doubt that this professor is VERY knowledgeable in his field. Boryta might have been a great researcher but teacher? that's debatable. He can be very condescending at times and when I ask a question I expect an answer so I can learn, not to be put down. By the end of the year people just stopped asking for help
Very nice guy, but hard to follow.
He tries to be funny. You have to stay with him, talks for hours. HARD TESTS! Strict on attendance
I don't reccomend this teacher if you don't want to be accosted by dad jokes all day long. He speaks far too quickly for anyone to catch up when writing the notes, though he does give study guides, which help somewhat. You are expected to know and memorize physics equations and know them on all the tests. Math 51 is reccomended to take this class.
Difficult class, and difficult teacher. Heavy long lectures and expects you to remain engaged the entire time which can be tough. The tests are also a bit rough.
Astronomy sounded awesome but this class was honestly such a drag for me. Very long lecture, which was boring and hard to keep up with. He was so strict on attendance and being on time. Also, the exam were difficult. He expects you to know all the equations. i won't recommend this class.
His lectures are soo prolonged and unclear. Going to the observatory for a field trip has made 3 months of his lecture more clear for me. I would not recommend to anybody.
Professor Boryta cares about what he teachers, you can tell. Unfortunately I didn't do well in his class. In part because I underestimated astronomy and in part because he was a little confusing about what to study .
Boryta is amazing; passionate about both astronomy and geology. He returns emails quickly, he has chocolate in his office, and he is very approachable. If you have questions about the information, ask him! He does not tell you the answer, but teaches you how to find it. He works really hard for his students, and he does expect the same from you.
I highly advise against taking his classes in the early mornings as his fly-like voice will instantly put you to sleep, if the way he "teaches" the subject matter hasn't done that already. Also, he injects unnecessary political discussion. However, he does make you work for your grade by putting in trick questions in quizzes and field trip reports.
Very passionate about his work. Unclear about what to study. They study guides are like bullet points with general information and the tests were hard. If you take it seriously and study all the time you have a chance. He states it clear from the beginning that, this isnt a class you can just show up for and pass.
If you last long enough in his class he is a pretty nice guy. But half the class will end up dropping because he is pretty tough. Although I'm pretty sure he was nice enough to help my final grade out with a B. That B was surprising because I was barely passing the whole semester and would have been more than happy to end with a C. Lots of quizzes.
Boryta focuses on lectures more than anything. He uses a lot of puns, so be ready for those. Overall was a good professor who is tough grader, yet you really get to learn in his class. Extra credit is available and is what really helped my grade. You won't have to work too hard at home if you focus in class.
At first I felt that there was no way he could be THAT bad. I studied for hours everyday on this ONE class and never got anything higher than a D. He forces honors concepts into his normal class lectures. The class was impossible and killed my GPA. DO NOT TAKE if you value your GPA
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant man. but worst professor I have ever had. He can't teach he will answer your questions with a question. It will feel impossible to pass the class.
I will never understand professors that make their class so extremely difficult to the point where most of the class drops and there are only less than ten left. Its pretty sad and makes you wonder if the class is worth it.
Do not take this class in the morning. He dishes out way to much information for a half asleep brain to retain. He expects us to remember everything collectively. He dishes out a quiz every week, full of trick questions. He acts like everyone in the class wants to be a Geologist when the fact is that most kids are just trying to transfer. DNT TAKE!
Unorganized. He abandoned his syllables towards the middle of the semester. The material that is on the tests goes above what is talked about in class. Everyone is failing because he is a tough grader. I dropped the class.
I wouldn't take him. I had to drop out because he wasn't being clear on the material. Didn't answer questions.
This prof is extremely dedicated and passionate about his class. Hes definitely a tough grader because he required more than a general understanding. Everything is in the powerpoints though so lecture is mandatory. If you do miss or have questions, prof Boryta makes himself available 24/7 (office hours and email). If you apply yourself youre good
Great professor if you are willing to put in effort. You get what you work for and enjoyed taking his class. Also fun field trips and cool internship opportunities!
Professor Boryta is passionate about what he teaches. Yes, he is a tough grader but if you pay attention and apply yourself you will be fine. He has really good intership opportunities.
One of the most misunderstood professors I have ever encountered. His class was frustrating but rewarding. Be there everyday, try, go to office hours, read the material, go to extra credit and you will pass with a C. Engage. Also, there's a 3 day fieldtrip. Bortya is a professor that I will always thank in the long run. Geology is not my major.
Tough prof but the class is a science class. Don't go in expecting it to be any easier than other sciences. He is very dedicated to his students but if you don't put in the effort, he won't help you. He teaches at a UC/Cal State level so class is mandatory and fast paced. READ SYLLABUS. Camping trips are fun and he brings stuff for bomb s'mores.
This is a science class so knowledge of physics and other basic science are necessary for this class. NOT AN ELECTIVE!
Prof Boryta is really kind and caring. I was experiencing hard times in my life and he listened to me without judgment and really cared about my wellbeing. He reached out to me personally to see how I was doing and to encourage me to go to class and participate. He never made me feel stupid and I think that takes a very humble person to do that.
Although I spoke with Professor prior to the start of the semester and verified that this class did not require prior science classes, it definitely does, the way he teaches it. Unorganized, jumps around quite a bit, and constantly jokes. I attended all classes and worked hard but the lectures were extremely hard to follow.
Not a good choice if this will be your first science class in college. He is always expecting the class to answer questions that we genuinely don't know the answer to and it ends up discouraging us and our ability to learn. Half of his class is just doing this. His quizzes are /heavily/ focused on his lectures, so there is a lot of note-taking.
Attendance is mandatory despite Covid-19 precautions and lectures are unorganized. Professor goes on tangents about little details instead of trying to explain concepts as a whole. Expects students to know concepts that are barely being taught in lecture. Rude when it comes to replying to student emails and posts quizzes the day that they are due.
If youre like me and like when they get straight to the point and explains it throughly, this class isnt for you. He is super lecture heavy, forces you to engage, and goes on tangents that dont even relate to the subject. His tests dont even relate to half of the material taught in class and he doesnt input grades on time
He's overall a good teacher, but at times the lectures can be boring. He's super nice and the field trip is very fun. His class is kind of hard but as long as you study you will pass.
There is a text book, but I never used it. He provides packets with notes on the slide shows he lectures on. His tests are based on those packets. He lets you bring an index card for the test as well that is super helpful. I enjoyed his humor and his class overall.
Although I dropped the course, this is probably one of the best professors I've taken! His stories during lectures are amusing and helpful. He is empathetic to all students; his office hours helped me immensely when struggling to understand a particular topic. His dad's jokes are wicked!
This teacher reminded me why looking at professor's rates is so important. I would take his class if I knew their rate as a professor. I don't think the class is so hard he is just not clear. Very heaving lectures and confusing explanations about the material. I tried to look for his help he acted like he didn't care. I don't recommend this teacher
I just don't like his class. Participation is mandatory makes me feel dumb for not knowing the right answer in front of the class.
Heavy reading makes the class boring. The teacher doesn't seem to care that the students learn. I got a B in this class, the class itself is not difficult, but the teacher is boring and his way of explaining is confusing.
He gave a slideshow packet to follow along but unless you're in class it's not really that helpful. Being an intro class, there is way too much information and you have to be able to remember the details if you want to do well on the exams. He also speaks continuously throughout class time with just one break. It's good if you can keep up.
The professor's lecture style can be hit or miss - they tend to go on tangents, but the slideshow packets are helpful if you attend class. Definitely use unstuck AI and the index card for exams to stay on top of the details. Overall, an engaging course if you can keep up.
Awful professor, if you have a question about something, honestly I think is more helpful to search on google. be prepare to participate there's no other option and you better know the answer or he will humiliated you in front of everyone.
I just don't get how he has so many bad reviews and still the same. idk if he doesn't care or he doesn't even take the time to read them. if I was a professor mark I wouldn't take this as hate but has a way to improve and be a better professor. I don't think he is going to change, so think twice before taking any class with him.
HIs class although not bad and was entertaining he was just not nice and wasnt helpful, he really likes people to participate but if you dont have the right answer he will be passive aggressive with his response making you feel less than him. really just dont take the class he is really the worst class ive ever taken
I took him in my first semester last year, and he was really chill. We never got homework or had to work in class, besides a field trip that we had to the beach, where we had to do an experiment. We basically just had lectures, quizzes, and exams. Which affected my grade a lot at the point of not knowing if I was going to pass.
