Does anyone know anything about this Professor. I am debating whether or not to take him winter '04 for Econ 222. Thanks
He is a little weird. he loves peanuts, and his body is too small for his head, but he gives enourmous study guides, but if you study, you'll do fine.
He's a nice guy, but he gets really technical about econ. If you really want to learn macroeconomics he's your guy, but if the class is required then this isn't for you. This guy really knows his stuff.

Hey I like this guy. Full of usefull (or -less) information. He knows what he's talking about and oddly enough kind of looks like Beavis from a profile. Willing to make things work for the whole class and is open to criticism. Highly recommended.
I didnt like him at all. I couldnt take him seriously so I couldnt learn any of the material. I think he could be the worst professor I have had at Ferris
This guy is the man. His test are really easy and gives you extra credit on all of your tests. I recomend you take this class with him. You will get either an A or B.
I like him. He's so helpful. Super sweet guy, makes us all laugh and knows you by name. Ask for help, and you will get it. You have to spend extra time studying if you're not a math person, but he's there for ???s
This guy is smart as hell, but expects you to do the reading. He writes few notes,you will have little to go on from them, but the study guides rock! Econ is really dry and even the best teacher would bore you. No homework, few quizs.
He know's his stuff. He helps you out whenever you need it, and knows just about anything that has to do with Economics. His jokes are rare, but funny. He looks like Hugh Grant too.
BRANDLEY IS THE MAN!!! He is also a complete stud. Thats all I've got to say. He knows alot about Economics. He likes to grin alot just because he knows he is so smart and that the students dont have a clue what he is talking about.
Very nice and helpful teacher. He will answer any question that you may have and is open to criticism about his teaching methods. I recommend him, study for the tests and you will do fine. He has a few quizzes, but are fair and easy. Great guy/teacher
Great Professor!!! The first Econ class I took I got a D----this class I got an A. He knows his stuff and is willing to help you in anyway he can. Make sure you take really good notes and answer his review questions. I'll take him again.
Cool guy. He's smart, and is good at explaining economics in an easy way. Taking something that is really complex and simplifying it for the person who hasn't a clue about economics is a definite plus on his side. Good teacher.
Brandly is awesome! He is so smart and has a really subtle sense of humor. Makes econ seem simple. Always willing to answer your questions. He's also pretty sexy.

Class was somewhat hard. He's a lot easier than some other professors. Easy to understand, although material wasn't as easy. take notes. tests will be easier.

This guy stinks at lecturing. He jumps around to different topics and cant put together a lecture thats easy to understand. Hes not very willing to help outside of class. and he laughs at his own jokes.
Go to class and there's not a better prof. don't go to class and it will be just as hard as the rest. by far the best econ prof at ferris. someone buy him some freakin catfish and peanuts.
This professor is just about the worst teacher i've ever had. If you ask him a question he looks at you like you're dumb and laughs, and he will write stuff on the board and not explain what he wrote. And he doesn't give you the answers to the study guides, so we never know if we're doing the problems right. He is a horrible teacher.
Okay professor overall. It's pretty easy to understand what he is teaching, as long as you come to class and pay attention. Tests aren't too bad. He gives a study guide but it isn't much help. Unfortunately, he's usually not very helpful and doesn't really seem to like answering questions.
His class was hard. He is a pretty good teacher, but his tests are a little confusing. Would be better if he gave a answer key to the study guides...
Great Professor. Highly recommended for Economics. For some people he is a little unclear during lecture, but if you take good notes, and paay attention in class, it's a breeze.
Not very clear...I take great notes and never missed class and I was still in the dark. I did okay in the class, but from the ratings on here I thought he would be more clear and easier. On handouts, he won't say what the answer is flat out..he'll beat around the bush. I HATE that! How are you supposed to study from that if it's all blank??
Brandly teaches on the board, meaning he writes out everything you need for your notes. The first two exams, I read the assigned chapters in the textbooks, and did quite well on the exams. On the later exams though, I never knew what to chapters to read (he skipped around a lot)... not a bad teacher though. I might take him again.
very nice teacher, had him for both econ sections an as long as you participate in class, so it actually goes by faster, you will understand. will help you out and respect you. Gives an optional test and drop of a quiz which help grade...and....extra credit for each test. not a bad deal.
Pay attention in lecture and read over the chapters in the book and do the sample questions online and you will do alright.
A great professor who gives helpful examples to learn the material. There is extra credit for each exam and the chapter quizzes are pretty easy. Just pay attention in class, read the chapter summaries, and you'll do just fine in both of his ECON classes.

Not very helpful with wording ion tests and now he has tenure. Makes you feel stupid if you disagree with his opinions. Do not take this guy if you can help it.

tough teacher, tough class, will help you though. hes a great guy and is always trying to make class better and easier. test are tough, dont take him if your not prepared to do the studying for his exams, he has open book quizzes though
He is a lecturer 100%... Take notes, do the study guides (bring them to class because he does follow them in his lectures), and read the assigned readings and you will do just fine! There are no assignments except for problem sets so there is no math on the tests.
Absolutely thee worst professor I have ever had...He will deduct points from your grade if you ask him about your grade. He is super unhelpful and completely lectures the entire time...If you don't like repetitive graphs, don't take his class!
The tests are quite difficult. However, if you do the readings and pay attention in class you should do fine.

He wasn't the most helpful professor. He comes off like he is better than everyone. Someone asked a question about a test and he answered with "any economist would know the answer is C." Print off the lecture slides,bring them to class. Complete the readings and study guides. If you do this you will do fine.
I am not a slacker. So it was very hard to understand his course while I took harder courses in biology and chemistry. Business is not my thing especially when I cannot wrap my head around a hard top that someone is talking about the whole class period without any clarification. I would suggest get a tutor or form a study group.

Economics is fun and interesting. Mark Brandly ruined the class because of his tests. They are impossible to ace. He tells you to read the book and watch videos and that's it. He has to give credit for 4 o 5 problems after the exam because questions are unfair but when you take the tests you don't realize it and it just screws you up. He sucks.

Great teacher. Very straightforward. Don't think that we had one homework assignment the entire course, which is good and bad. No quizzes either, so the only points that you can get are from exams, so study hard! Reading from the book definitely helps, and use available resources on Blackboard!
I will start out by saying if you have the chance to take this class with another professor, I recommend doing just that. Brandly isn't a completely horrible professor but if economics doesn't come easy to you it will make it worse. I had a hard time asking him questions because if you were clearly clueless on a certain area he just laughed at you.
Terrible professor, absolutely terrible. For starters his grading scale sucks. A 70 percent which should be a C- is a D in his class and a 63 which should be a D is an F in his class. His exams suck because the wording is confusing and he doesnt tell you all the material that's going to be on it. Avoid this snide professor if you can.
A perfect example of a professor that is phenomenal in real world experience and knowledge yet unable to pass anything on to students. Asking a question or answering one of his will lead him to belittle you. He doesn't seem to understand that we are not professional economists and loves to use his intellect to make economics seem harder than it is.
Do not take this class with Brandly. You will regret it. Teaches you absolutely nothing and then laughs at you when you go for clarification. Really smart guy but a horrible professor. Avoid at all costs.
He is a good professor, but his lectures can be a little boring. Exams are a little bit too wordy and can be difficult to understand sometimes, in total we took 6 exams (including the final). If you tell him to show up to Econ tutoring he will answer your questions and prepare you for his exams.
Professor Brandly is a genius when it comes to economics. He will teach you a lot and is always interested in discussing current events .You have to pay attention to lectures as he gives a lot of information. He also posted good information on blackboard for studying for the exams. I would take him again in a heartbeat and will always recommend him
Level of Difficulty is really closer to a 4.5 but the class is really enjoyable if you like economics. Your grade will be based only on tests and/or papers, but he lets the class choose how many tests/papers to do in a semester. One of the funniest most interesting lecturers you'll have. He is brilliant but slightly arrogant.
Great professor! If you don't like busy work this is the man for you. Sometimes he does extra out of class study sessions. If you want to get good grades go to them. He answers most of the questions on the test during those. The study guides for the test are also quite helpful.
Dr. Brandly is a smart guy who actually wants students to succeed. He knows his stuff and as long as you show up to class and pay attention to what he says you will do fine. Printing off lecture slides and extra review questions helps a lot. He also offers study sessions and review videos for every exam which help a lot
6 test (1 is optional & accumulative to replace lowest test score). You are based solely off those 6 tests.. No homework or quizzes. It is a decent class, but the professor is a bit arrogant. He is condescending if students have a question, and then gets frustrated when nobody wants to participate.
Terrible teacher, he doesn't make things clear and he puts it too complicated. Sloppy writing on the board to where you can barely read it. When we asked for a review session he said no, when my advisory said he would work with us and do that if we needed it. No work to back up your test grades. Overall I would say he's the worst professor I had

He is an okay professor, his exams are hard, only because they're very analytical. If you read, and do the review questions he posts, and FOLLOW HIS LECTURES, the class is okay. He provides a lot of extra credit, but it doesn't always make a difference because the exams are all 1000 points, and the final is 1500.
Dr. Brandly is a great professor. That being said, he does not really care about how you perform. He grades by pure exams and does not care about attendance. If you show up to class and do the recommended readings, you should have no problem. He does try to answer all questions and will assist you if you ask.
Honestly, he is one of the best profs I've ever had! So many people talk so poorly of him but if you respect him he'll respect you. Lectures aren't mandatory but if you miss you'll get lost. Respect him by showing up and asking questions and you'll have no problem. Also reading the book can help but if you like Econ, I don't think it's necessary.
Requires lockdown browser with audio and video camera that flags you for cheating if you don't show your whole face or move your eyes too much. Loads of reading and lecture videos. DO NOT take if you have other time consuming classes, I do and I'm struggling!
A lot of videos to watch. Make sure you take good notes & study. Quizzes and exams are taken with lockdown browser. You are not allowed to use your notes and if you take your eyes off the screen, it flags you for cheating. Not very helpful to someone like me who stares at a wall or the sky when thinking about an answer. Very hard class.
Extremely hard exams, you can't use notes of any kind. Questions are written like trick questions with how he words them. You have to know every single tiny little detail of what he teaches or you will fail. He also videotapes you taking quizzes and exams. If you look away from your screen for a second it says that you are cheating.
Hes honestly one of the best econ teachers at FSU. Ive taken him for 221 and currently 222. It really depends on your learning style if you should take this class. Theres 6 tests and thats all your grade is (1 is optional) but he is very smart.
He's really not that bad so far. His tests are not real hard (and I am a terrible test taker) and he makes sense on what he says. He can be a little lazy at times, but overall, the best economics teacher I've had.
The only way to earn points was by taking 4 heavily weighted 1000 point tests. Everything else is sitting through lectures from a teacher who doesn't seem to care or want to be there. Besides that, there were 25 point quizzes that didn't do much. All exams are multiple-choice, questions seem written to trick you. Worst class I've ever had.
I had an online course, it consisted of reading a chapter or two a week, viewing some pre recorded videos that I know from a past student that he uses each year. You alternate from quizzes to exams on a week basis and that is your whole class. If youre a poor test taker this class is NOT for you. Thats all the grade consists of.
Not bad. The only real downsides are that youre only graded on 4 tests and his lectures are not very interesting. However, the plus is that theres is no homework for the class and his lectures go into lots of detail. Take that time you would be using for homework to study for the exams though, because they wont be easy.
Dr. Brandly is an amazing professor. If you put in the work (read, attend lectures, study for exams, etc) you will do fine. He is very good at explaining the material in a relatable and understandable way. He also curves all of the exams and gives multiple chances for extra credit. I recommend taking him for ECON!
Professor Brandly works hard to provide video lectures that really breakdown the topics. Most of what is used in tests is in his own words not the textbook, which I know can be difficult for some students, but I found his explanations easier to understand than the book. I'm not a fan of Economics, but he's not definitely not a bad professor.

professor Brandley is a good professor some would say. but I disagree, if you didn't know what you were doing in the class he treated you like a bottom feeder. asking questions in this class was like asking a poor person for a million dollars. he was not very helpful and made you feel dumb. Grades are all based on online quizzes and tests which are governed by a lockdown browser with no other homework assigned to help grades. Lectures are very awkward to sit in but beneficial to understanding his exams. He knows he is smarter than you and makes that evident as you ask questions and he starts to chuckle at you.
Ridiculous req. of this course especially for a online. Requires the Lockdown Browser (no big deal) but requires you to have a working camera. Very harsh in describing that during exams/ quizzes you have to be in a quiet room and zero items with you. You can't read the questions out loud to yourself. Failure to obey the rules results in a failure.

So, first of all if you're going into this class as a student not interested in economics whatsoever and just need it for your degree DO NOT take his class. If you're interested in economics and want to be taught by a guy who knows his economics, then take his class. The guy is very smart, however in my opinion he's not a great teacher. Good luck!
Completely disregarded several students disability accommodations and was not easily accessible outside of class for help. His teaching style was confusing and he did not seem to care for his students at all.
If you take his online class theres no assignments. you only get graded on quizzes every week and exams every two or three weeks. so if you're not good at taking exams he's not the professor for you. I literally got in a car accident and was in the hospital for 4 days and he wouldn't let me retake my exam and I ended up failing. good luck.
He doesn't care about students' emotions and will stress you out. he requires a lockdown browser for exams and quizzes. he threatens you if he hears even your own voice through the lockdown browser. unclear with his lectures and notes he provides. you have to purchase a 200$ worth textbook just for 5 chapters. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR.
Great study guides. Regular quizzes to keep you on track. Quiz and exam questions are well written and make sense. Much better than my ECON 202 professor!
Grades are determined by exams only. Lectures are dry and hard to follow. Tough class. I would highly advise against taking a course taught by him.
You will leave the class feeling like you've learned a lot. In order to be successful on his exams I would recommend showing up to all lectures and paying good attention. Overall Brandly is one of the smartest professors I've met here at Ferris and is great at teaching Economics. He is also able to explain things at all levels very well.
He does not communicate with the students and you are all on your own. his exam are impossible and when you ask for some study ideas to help on the next exam he does not respond and he does not help.
Heavy test oriented, makes you use a terrible program to do your reading. This so called homework is just more quizzes. His online lectures are very boring and basic; bring some coffee to keep yourself awake. I wish he would come up with his own assignments and maybe made a print out for his lectures for class that will walk you through the work.
This professor puts no effort into his teaching or honestly his students. Dude does not care about helping you succeed in anyway. I recommend you take anyone else but this teacher. Other teachers make the class fun and inviting to learn while he just seems to get lost in his own world and expects everyone to understand.
Unfortunately, this professor's teaching style only includes quizzes and tests. He throws a chapter at you with lecture videos, but his reviews are all over the place. During Thanksgiving break, he has two quizzes and one makeup test due all in one week, Monday-Friday. The tests and quizzes are recorded FYI
Mark Brandly is a great professor but you must be putting in the work for his class. I had taken the wintermester class for Microecon and there were only quizzes and exams within the class but you also get two retakes on the quizzes (so use them sparingly, and also cant see previous attempts). Still a good class, but be ready to study for hours.
Worst professor at Ferris. His lectures are incredibly boring & not relevant to the content on the tests. His study guides have no answers and are not similar to the test. Your grade is 100% test based. During every test, you will be watched & recorded via webcam and microphone. You are set up to fail. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! YOU'LL REGRET IT!
This guy is terrible. Take anyone else. Run do not walk away from this train wreck of a professor. His lecture are boring and he makes these jokes that miss the punchline, like what's up with that? He cracks himself up a lot. Overall you should avoid this class.

I really did not enjoy this class at all. Often the lectures did not appeal to the exams. I would study for hours using lecture and textbook notes and still did very poor. The grading in this class solely relies on exams and quizzes. I would not recomend this proffesor for econ unless you already have prior knowladge and confidence in econ.

Horrible teacher, only test based and they are 50 questions multiple choice questions designed to confuse you. Get 10 wrong and you are already at an 80 on a test.
