This is an easy class. Lots of activities are done in class so attendance is required. Had to give 5 speeches throughout the semester, which wasn't as bad as I had anticipated.

Very easy class. Mr Burk is a great teacher. If you come to class and do the speeches you will get an A. Most activities are done in class.

all i have to say is take him, he is easy and gives plenty of extra credit..

take him he's awesome..all in class work..grades very easy and offers xtra credit like WOAH..even the dumb pprs in class r grades..he also keeps it interesting and time doesnt TICK by :)

yeah the amnt of extra credit is amazing..and you wont even need it if you just show up and fill out a few papers and at least TRY giving a speech! have class with him.

EASY!!! Don't like giving speeches, but this class was A BREEZE!

Very easy class, he makes giving speeches easy and fun. He puts his tests online and gives you two hours to take them. The tests come straight from the book and notes. If you lightly read the book and notes you'll be able to get A's on his tests easily. As long as you give all your speeches and take the tests, the final is optional.

OMG anyone can pass this class! SUPER EASY teacher- shure i had to do the speeches but he graded very easy, the tests are pretty straight forward -jus start the test and scan through the chapter : ). OVERALL i loved this class- do the work pass (u onii have to use half ur brain for this class...lol)

I'm currently taking his speech class online, we get to take the quizes as many times as needed to pass and the tests are made up from questions from the quizzes. You get 2 weeks to complete all quizzes and tests... and if you have a question he has an answer!! I would recommend taking him.

Took him for Speech 1318. Assignments are well laid out. Multiple opportunites to re-take quizzes and exams. Discussion assigments are simple as long as you post something. Very responsive to emails and very flexible if you miss an assignment. VERY EASY A!!!

Mark was one of the coolest teachers ever! He grades pretty easy as long as you work hard! Books are only used for online tests. As long as you do what you are told, this class is an easy A!

His book is a MUST for his test which is taken on Ecampus. I go to class everyday because he always has short class assignments. Overall he is a great teacher, even though he makes you feel dumb when you are trying to just joke around.

I took this class online and it was very easy. You can take the quizzes as many times as you need. In order to pass those quizzes you have to read the book though. You only have to do three speeches(video record), three exams, and you can do extra credit. I did not find him very helpful when I had a question, but I would recommend taking him.

Professor Burk is one of the greatest professors I've ever had the pleasure of taking. He is kinda sarcastic at times, but it's all in good fun. You don't HAVE to show up to class, but if you skip any, you very well may miss out on something important. He gives you 2 hours to complete each test online, and you can use the book. Strongly Recommended

I took this class online. The book is a must. He grades very easy. He doesn't respond to emails via ecampus, so email directly from personal email or call. Quizzes can be taken several times to pass. Great class!

Nice guy. You have 15 discussions and quizzes, but the quizzes you can take until you pass, review the quizzes before the tests and you will do great. Also, the presentations aren't so hard you only have to do 3. Overall enjoyed this class =]

His class is very easy but you must show up to class if you want an A. He grades presentations easy as long as you turn in your outlines and your speeches are more than 4 minutes. I made a B because I missed the In-promp-to speech, which you cannot make up.

Highly recommended if you want an easy A. If you don't get an A; it is because you are lazy and missed classes. No excuses for not getting an A. No finals if you did well on the three online exams. Open book, what more can you ask for?

I really liked his class made it easier to want to give speeches. He is funny and keeps class interesting. takes role every class and if you are more than 30 min late u cant sign. he makes u do group speeches as well as regular ones but they are easy. powerpoints are extra credit and tests or as he says celebration of knowledge are kinda hard.

Took his class for both Speech 1311 & 1318. The class is an easy A if you work on it of course. It makes you feel comfortable whe you give speeches and you actually learn a lot.

A very good professor to have, especially when it comes to public speaking. Tests and speeches are easy, if you attend class. He makes every speech as simple as possible and helps students. You cant fail his class, unless your willing to do nothing at all. I recommend this professor, big time!

Took this course as a duel credit summer course for communication applications. Great experience for first real college class.

I was scared of Speech classes. Of course not many can stand in front of a crowd and speak. But Mr. Burks made it very comfortable to speak. He's a cool prof. and if you need help he will do just that. I totally recommend him for any subject he teaches.

There are 3 tests and 6 speeches. He gives a lot of extra credit, especially if you have perfect attendance. The book is necessary for tests and a chapter presentation. If you do all your work you will get an A. Only thing I didn't like was during the last month of class he made us do 4 speeches and 2 tests.

Was so clear about the guidelines, quizzes were straight from the book and although you have to do 2 speeches in front of him, the grading scale is 150 pts. He responds quickly to emails. I highly recommend taking his classes.

I took Mr. Burks class online over the summer. It was a hard class, but he was a great teacher. When I was confused on information and I emailed him. He was very helpful and explained it better so I could I understand the assignment.

If you show up to class, pay attention and do all your work you can make an easy A in his class! This was one of my favorite classes to take. He is a very lenient professor

The class if simple as long as you do all the assignments and speech presentations. He gives very good feedback and is not very critical when grading assignments, including presentations.

I took SPCH 1311 online during a Maymester. If you're a shy speaker, I would definitely recommend this course for you. Online, you're given the opportunity to prepare speeches in front of familiar faces - three or more. It made the assignments less stressful. Professor Burks was available throughout the process. However, there is alot of reading!

woow,, amazing proffcer.. i would say take him, he is so easy and so hopeful, you will have 14 quizzes and no time limit for it and you can found them online. and 4 exams with two hour limit. and 14 discussion, 3 assignment. i got an A without hard working and if you have any question just go to his office and he will help you alot.

Mr. Burks was an awesome professor. By the end of the semester, I was still a little nervous but I could tell how much I'd improved. He makes you aware of all the little things that contribute to becoming a good speaker without ever making you feel judged. He's very supportive and comforting and helped me open up a lot. I took his class in the Fall Flex schedule. There were a lot of assignments/quizzes/test, 1 group project, and 2 individual projects. But I found this class to be an easy A. The assignments are overwhelming but if you are dedicated, you will pass. Mr. Burks responds quickly and his feedback helped me tremendously. Thank you Mr. Burks!

This class is an easy A. A class that I actually enjoyed going to. You have to give 4 speeches, two of them being group. You have quizzes that are online, but I usually only found the answers in textbook. You can take quizzes as many times as you wanted. Then you have tests that are exactly like the quizzes but those are timed.

Took this as a flex class and we had 14 discussions, 14 quizzes and two tests that were really easy if you listen to what he gives you. Really enjoyed the class he makes it feel a lot less nerve racking than other speech classes.

You can an A on every quiz, test, Final & discussion, end of course you still need to do Projects with visual speech, recorded with three adults over age of 18. I made mistake of taking coarse in one month time frame, big mistake this course needs all the time. 18 quizzes, 4 test, 18 discussions, 3 projects. It was a tough.

I took this class as a flex term about 5 weeks. Very easy 14 quizzes, 14 discussions he gives you plenty of time to answer the discussions, and take the quizzes ( you can take the quizzes as many times needed to get at least an 8/10). Two speeches and 4 tests. Great professor I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Will definitely take him again.

Nice professor, syllabus was a bit of a mess. I failed to realize he wanted 2 speeches - i read "Either/Or" and assumed that meant to pick one, so my low A quickly dropped to a C. Other than this he was a good professor. Time and chances provided for quizzes and discussions, exams require you to read the book and retain the information.

Hybrid class- 15 unit quizzes, 4 tests, & 3 speeches. 5 quizzes and 1 test are available for 2 weeks at a time. Quiz answers are straight from the textbook, but it's pretty much common sense. Test questions come from the quizzes. Speeches are easy and public speaking was easier by the end of the class. Very nice teacher and super easy class!

Such an amazing professor!! Never do I rate any of my professors, though Mr. Burks deserves a rating. Hes caring and always willing to help his students. Totally recommend him.

I took him for a summer class which only lasts 1 month. The class was very fast paced but it was doable. He gives good feedback on the projects that you turn in so you know what to do and not to do on the next one that you need to turn in.

Amazing Professor who cares a lot about his students!

Professor Burks assigns a few mandatory speeches throughout the class but you choose the topic. This makes it less ominous to complete those assignments. For the online class, you do have to record your speeches with at least three adult audience members, which is slightly inconvenient, but I see why it's necessary. Otherwise, the class is great!

GREAT PROFESSOR! I would definitely take him again if he teaches other classes. The work is easy he also offers extra credit. Responds almost immediately when you email him a question.

He is a great professor and the exam, two speech, project, and exams are super easy and he is a easy grader. I took him during the summer 1 2020 and not to much work and the work were easy and did not take to long. You will not regret taking him and you will make an A in the course like I did. So please take him for your speech class.

Even though I don't enjoy public speaking his class was super easy and I felt that I improved a lot even in just 8 weeks. The first two speeches are in groups and the last 2 are individual.

Summer I online. LOTS of reading! Only 3 speeches, all very easy. Very direct and clear grading. Just make sure to do the readings for the quizzes and exams. There is/are opportunities for extra credit.

Easy class as long as you do all of your work. Quite a few homework assignments which are discussion boards and quizzes for each chapter, as well a group projects.

Prof Mark is a very relaxing professor. Grading is clear and all you have to do is your assignments on time and speeches on the designated day. Easy A for a speech class if you ask me!

Was a spring flex session. For extra credit, there was 7 different topics to write 20 pts each. I highly recommend doing the easy extra credit. Felt Prof. was not a tough grader. The quizzes gets repeated on the exams.

Took his summer 1 online class and enjoyed it. There were a lot of assignments, but relatively simple and easy to do. He was considerate of late assignments, as long as you had a genuinely good reason and only for the first, maybe second time.

Professor Burks's feedback given throughout the course was beneficial for me for not only in class, but outside of class. This class is one that you will utilize the skills in future jobs. There are a lot of assignments, but they're not difficult at all. All of the answers for the quizzes are on the textbook

This was an overall easy class to complete the only thing that I can think some people would have a hard time with is that it's a lot of writing and assignments. But if you manage your workload efficiently it should be no problem. He was overall a very agreeable teacher.

Professor Burks was an awesome professor. He always replied to emails in a timely manner and gave great feedback and was always helpful and cared about my wellbeing. He cares about his students and only wants the best for them, 10/10 professor. The class was relatively easy and he helps you out a lot and guides you through the class well.

Prof. Burks's class has a lot of assignments, but they're manageable. The lectures and feedback are helpful. Utilize resources like the textbook and unstuckstudy for study prep - they really aid in success.

I was scared to take this class because English is not my first language but Professor Mark made this class easy for me. He is very clear on what he wants, organized on work, gives you opportunities to make up work fair. Best teacher ever!!

Professor Burks assigned a good amount of work but he does have a lot of extra credit work that you can do.

I took it in summer and Just do on time and alot of extra credit.

Very upfront for the most part, had to do 3 group project speeches and 4 overall speech presentations. Fairly easy grader when it comes down to the speeches. Lots of reading to do with the book but quizzes and exam are open book. Professor Mark was always super helpful if anyone had questions.
